27:1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子ゼデキヤが世を治め始めたころ、この言葉が主からエレミヤに臨んだ。
27:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
27:2 すなわち主はこうわたしに仰せられた、「綱と、くびきとを作って、それをあなたの首につけ、
27:2 Thus says the LORD to me; Make you bonds and yokes, and put them upon your neck,
27:3 エルサレムにいるユダの王ゼデキヤの所に来た使者たちによって、エドムの王、モアブの王、アンモンびとの王、ツロの王、シドンの王に言いおくりなさい。
27:3 And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;
27:4 彼らの主君にこの命を伝えさせなさい、『万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、あなたがたは主君にこのように告げなければならない。
27:4 And command them to say unto their masters, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall all of you say unto your masters;
27:5 わたしは大いなる力と伸べた腕とをもって、地と地の上にいる人と獣とをつくった者である。そして心のままに地を人に与える。
27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
27:6 いまわたしはこのすべての国を、わたしのしもべであるバビロンの王ネブカデネザルの手に与え、また野の獣をも彼に与えて彼に仕えさせた。
27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.
27:7 彼の地に時がくるまで、万国民は彼とその子とその孫に仕える。その時がくるならば、多くの国と大いなる王たちとが彼を自分の奴隷にする。
27:7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make use of him.
27:8 バビロンの王ネブカデネザルに仕えず、バビロンの王のくびきを自分の首に負わない民と国とは、わたしがつるぎと、ききんと、疫病をもって罰し、ついには彼の手によってことごとく滅ぼすと主は言われる。
27:8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
27:9 それで、あなたがたの預言者、占い師、夢みる者、法術師、魔法使が、「あなたがたはバビロンの王に仕えることはない」と言っても、聞いてはならない。
27:9 Therefore hearken not all of you to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, All of you shall not serve the king of Babylon:
27:10 彼らはあなたがたに偽りを預言して、あなたがたを自分の国から遠く離れさせ、わたしに、あなたがたを追い出してあなたがたを滅ぼさせるのである。
27:10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and all of you should perish.
27:11 しかしバビロンの王のくびきを首に負って、彼に仕える国民を、わたしはその故国に残らせ、それを耕して、そこに住まわせると主は言われる』」。
27:11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, says the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
27:12 わたしはユダの王ゼデキヤにも同じように言った、「あなたがたは、バビロンの王のくびきを自分の首に負って、彼とその民とに仕え、そして生きなさい。
27:12 I spoke also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.
27:13 どうしてあなたと、あなたの民とが、主がバビロンの王に仕えない国民について言われたように、つるぎと、ききんと、疫病に死んでよかろうか。
27:13 Why will all of you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD has spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
27:14 あなたがたはバビロンの王に仕えることはないとあなたがたに告げる預言者の言葉を聞いてはならない。彼らがあなたがたに預言していることは偽りであるからだ。
27:14 Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, All of you shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.
27:15 主は言われる、わたしが彼らをつかわしたのではないのに、彼らはわたしの名によって偽って預言している。そのために、わたしはあなたがたを追い払い、あなたがたと、あなたがたに預言する預言者たちを滅ぼすようになるのだ」。
27:15 For I have not sent them, says the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that all of you might perish, all of you, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.
27:16 わたしはまた祭司とこのすべての民とに語って言った、「主はこう仰せられる、『見よ、主の宮の器は今、すみやかに、バビロンから返されてくる』とあなたがたに預言する預言者の言葉を聞いてはならない。それは、彼らがあなたがたに預言していることは偽りであるからだ。
27:16 Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.
27:17 彼らのいうことを聞いてはならない。バビロンの王に仕え、そして生きなさい。どうしてこの町が荒れ地となってよかろうか。
27:17 Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?
27:18 もし彼らが預言者であって、主の言葉が彼らのうちにあるのであれば、主の宮とユダの王の宮殿とエルサレムとに残されている器が、バビロンに移されないように、万軍の主に、とりなしを願うべきだ。
27:18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
27:19 万軍の主は柱と海と台、その他この町に残っている器について、こう仰せられる。
27:19 For thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city.
27:20 これはバビロンの王ネブカデネザルが、ユダの王エホヤキムの子エコニヤ、およびユダとエルサレムのすべての身分の尊い人々を捕えてエルサレムからバビロンに移したときに、持ち去らなかった器である。――
27:20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
27:21 すなわち万軍の主、イスラエルの神は、主の宮とユダの王の宮殿とエルサレムとに残されている器について、こう仰せられる。
27:21 Yea, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
27:22 これらはバビロンに携え行かれ、わたしが顧みる日までそこにおかれている。その後、わたしはこれらのものを、この所に携え帰らせると主は言われる」。
27:22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, says the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
28:1 その年、すなわちユダの王ゼデキヤの治世の初め、その第四年の五月、ギベオン出身の預言者であって、アズルの子であるハナニヤは、主の宮で祭司とすべての民の前でわたしに語って言った、
28:1 And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spoke unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
28:2 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、わたしはバビロンの王のくびきを砕いた。
28:2 Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
28:3 二年の内に、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルが、この所から取ってバビロンに携えて行った主の宮の器を、皆この所に帰らせる。
28:3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:
28:4 わたしはまたユダの王エホヤキムの子エコニヤと、バビロンに行ったユダのすべての捕われ人をこの所に帰らせる。それは、わたしがバビロンの王のくびきを、砕くからであると主は言われる」。
28:4 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, says the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
28:5 そこで預言者エレミヤは主の宮のうちに立っている祭司とすべての民の前で、預言者ハナニヤに言った。
28:5 Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,
28:6 すなわち預言者エレミヤは言った、「アァメン。どうか主がこのようにしてくださるように。どうかあなたの預言した言葉が成就して、バビロンに携えて行った主の宮の器とすべての捕われ人を、主がバビロンから再びこの所に帰らせてくださるように。
28:6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD's house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.
28:7 ただし、今わたしがあなたとすべての民の聞いている所で語るこの言葉を聞きなさい。
28:7 Nevertheless hear you now this word that I speak in yours ears, and in the ears of all the people;
28:8 わたしと、あなたの先に出た預言者は、むかしから、多くの地と大きな国について、戦いと、ききんと、疫病の事を預言した。
28:8 The prophets that have been before me and before you of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
28:9 平和を預言する預言者は、その預言者の言葉が成就するとき、真実に主がその預言者をつかわされたのであることが知られるのだ」。
28:9 The prophet which prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD has truly sent him.
28:10 そこで預言者ハナニヤは預言者エレミヤの首から、くびきを取って、それを砕いた。
28:10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it.
28:11 そしてハナニヤは、すべての民の前で語り、「主はこう仰せられる、『わたしは二年のうちに、このように、万国民の首からバビロンの王ネブカデネザルのくびきを離して砕く』」と言った。預言者エレミヤは去って行った。
28:11 And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus says the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
28:12 預言者ハナニヤが預言者エレミヤの首から、くびきを離して砕いた後、しばらくして主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
28:12 Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
28:13 「行って、ハナニヤに告げなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、あなたは木のくびきを砕いたが、わたしはそれに替えて鉄のくびきを作ろう。
28:13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus says the LORD; You have broken the yokes of wood; but you shall make for them yokes of iron.
28:14 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、わたしは鉄のくびきをこの万国民の首に置いて、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルに仕えさせる。彼らはこれに仕える。わたしは野の獣をも彼に与えた』」。
28:14 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.
28:15 預言者エレミヤはまた預言者ハナニヤに言った、「ハナニヤよ、聞きなさい。主があなたをつかわされたのではない。あなたはこの民に偽りを信じさせた。
28:15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD has not sent you; but you make this people to trust in a lie.
28:16 それゆえ主は仰せられる、『わたしはあなたを地のおもてから除く。あなたは主に対する反逆を語ったので、今年のうちに死ぬのだ』と」。
28:16 Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will cast you from off the face of the earth: this year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the LORD.
28:17 預言者ハナニヤはその年の七月に死んだ。
28:17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
29:1 これは預言者エレミヤがエルサレムから、かの捕え移された長老たち、およびネブカデネザルによってエルサレムからバビロンに捕え移された祭司と預言者ならびにすべての民に送った手紙に書きしるした言葉である。
29:1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
29:2 それはエコニヤ王と太后と宦官およびユダとエルサレムのつかさたち、および工匠と鍛冶とがエルサレムを去ってのちに書かれたものであって、
29:2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
29:3 エレミヤはその手紙をシャパンの子エラサおよびヒルキヤの子ゲマリヤの手によって送った。この人々はユダの王ゼデキヤがバビロンに行かせ、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルのもとにつかわしたものであった。その手紙には次のように書いてあった。
29:3 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
29:4 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神は、すべて捕え移された者、すなわち、わたしがエルサレムから、バビロンに捕え移させた者に、こう言う、
29:4 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
29:5 あなたがたは家を建てて、それに住み、畑を作ってその産物を食べよ。
29:5 Build all of you houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
29:6 妻をめとって、むすこ娘を産み、また、そのむすこに嫁をめとり、娘をとつがせて、むすこ娘を産むようにせよ。その所であなたがたの数を増し、減ってはならない。
29:6 Take all of you wives, and brought forth sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that all of you may be increased there, and not diminished.
29:7 わたしがあなたがたを捕え移させたところの町の平安を求め、そのために主に祈るがよい。その町が平安であれば、あなたがたも平安を得るからである。
29:7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall all of you have peace.
29:8 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、あなたがたのうちにいる預言者と占い師に惑わされてはならない。また彼らの見る夢に聞き従ってはならない。
29:8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which all of you cause to be dreamed.
29:9 それは、彼らがわたしの名によってあなたがたに偽りを預言しているからである。わたしが彼らをつかわしたのではないと主は言われる。
29:9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, says the LORD.
29:10 主はこう言われる、バビロンで七十年が満ちるならば、わたしはあなたがたを顧み、わたしの約束を果し、あなたがたをこの所に導き帰る。
29:10 For thus says the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
29:11 主は言われる、わたしがあなたがたに対していだいている計画はわたしが知っている。それは災を与えようというのではなく、平安を与えようとするものであり、あなたがたに将来を与え、希望を与えようとするものである。
29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
29:12 その時、あなたがたはわたしに呼ばわり、来て、わたしに祈る。わたしはあなたがたの祈を聞く。
29:12 Then shall all of you call upon me, and all of you shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
29:13 あなたがたはわたしを尋ね求めて、わたしに会う。もしあなたがたが一心にわたしを尋ね求めるならば、
29:13 And all of you shall seek me, and find me, when all of you shall search for me with all your heart.
29:14 わたしはあなたがたに会うと主は言われる。わたしはあなたがたの繁栄を回復し、あなたがたを万国から、すべてわたしがあなたがたを追いやった所から集め、かつ、わたしがあなたがたを捕われ離れさせたそのもとの所に、あなたがたを導き帰ろうと主は言われる。
29:14 And I will be found of you, says the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
29:15 あなたがたは、『主はバビロンでわれわれのために預言者たちを起された』と言ったが、――
29:15 Because all of you have said, The LORD has raised us up prophets in Babylon;
29:16 主はダビデの位に座している王と、この町に住むすべての民で、あなたがたと共に捕え移されなかった兄弟たちについて、こう言われる、
29:16 Know that thus says the LORD of the king that sits upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwells in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
29:17 『万軍の主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしは、つるぎと、ききんと、疫病を彼らに送り、彼らを悪くて食べられない腐ったいちじくのようにしてしまう。
29:17 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
29:18 わたしはつるぎと、ききんと、疫病をもって彼らのあとを追い、また彼らを地の万国に忌みきらわれるものとなし、わたしが彼らを追いやる国々で、のろいとなり、恐れとなり、物笑いとなり、はずかしめとならせる。
29:18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them:
29:19 それは彼らがわたしの言葉に聞き従わなかったからであると主は言われる。わたしはこの言葉を、わたしのしもべである預言者たちによって、しきりに送ったが、あなたがたは聞こうともしなかったと主は言われる』。――
29:19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, says the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but all of you would not hear, says the LORD.
29:20 わたしがエルサレムからバビロンに送ったあなたがたすべての捕われ人よ、主の言葉を聞きなさい、
29:20 Hear all of you therefore the word of the LORD, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
29:21 『わたしの名によって、あなたがたに偽りを預言しているコラヤの子アハブと、マアセヤの子ゼデキヤについて万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしは彼らをバビロンの王ネブカデレザルの手に渡す。王はあなたがたの目の前で彼らを殺す。
29:21 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
29:22 バビロンにいるユダの捕われ人は皆、彼らの名を、のろいの言葉に用いて、「主があなたをバビロンの王が火で焼いたゼデキヤとアハブのようにされるように」という。
29:22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
29:23 それは、彼らがイスラエルのうちで愚かな事をし、隣の妻と不義を行い、わたしが命じたのでない偽りの言葉を、わたしの名によって語ったことによるのである。わたしはそれを知っており、またその証人であると主は言われる』」。
29:23 Because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, says the LORD.
29:24 ネヘラムびとシマヤにあなたは言いなさい、
29:24 Thus shall you also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
29:25 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、あなたは自分の名でエルサレムにいるすべての民と、マアセヤの子祭司ゼパニヤおよびすべての祭司に手紙を送って言う、
29:25 Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because you have sent letters in your name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
29:26 『主は祭司エホヤダに代ってあなたを祭司とし、主の宮をつかさどらせ、すべて狂い、かつ預言する者を足かせと首かせにつながせられる。
29:26 The LORD has made you priest in the position of Jehoiada the priest, that all of you should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison, and in the stocks.
29:27 そうであるのに、どうしてあなたは、あなたがたに預言しているアナトテのエレミヤを戒めないのか。
29:27 Now therefore why have you not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which makes himself a prophet to you?
29:28 彼はバビロンにいるわれわれの所に手紙を送って、捕われの時はなお長いゆえ、あなたがたは家を建ててそこに住み、畑を作ってその産物を食べよと言ってきた』」。
29:28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build all of you houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
29:29 祭司ゼパニヤはこの手紙を預言者エレミヤに読み聞かせた。
29:29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
29:30 その時、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
29:30 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
29:31 「すべての捕われ人に書き送って言いなさい、ネヘラムびとシマヤの事について主はこう仰せられる、わたしはシマヤをつかわさなかったのに、彼があなたがたに預言して偽りを信じさせたので、
29:31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah has prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
29:32 主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはネヘラムびとシマヤとその子孫を罰する。彼は主に対する反逆を語ったゆえ、彼に属する者で、この民のうちに住み、わたしが自分の民に行おうとしている良い事を見るものはひとりもいない」。
29:32 Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, says the LORD; because he has taught rebellion against the LORD.
30:1 主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。
30:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
30:2 「イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、わたしがあなたに語った言葉を、ことごとく書物にしるしなさい。
30:2 Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write you all the words that I have spoken unto you in a book.
30:3 主は言われる、見よ、わたしがわが民イスラエルとユダの繁栄を回復する日が来る。主がこれを言われる。わたしは彼らを、その先祖に与えた地に帰らせ、彼らにこれを保たせる」。
30:3 For, lo, the days come, says the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
30:4 これは主がイスラエルとユダについて言われた言葉である。
30:4 And these are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
30:5 「主はこう仰せられる、われわれはおののきの声を聞いた。恐れがあり、平安はない。
30:5 For thus says the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.
30:6 子を産む男があるか、尋ねてみよ。どうして男がみな子を産む女のように／手を腰におくのをわたしは見るのか。なぜ、どの人の顔色も青く変っているのか。
30:6 Ask all of you now, and see whether a man does travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
30:7 悲しいかな、その日は大いなる日であって、それに比べるべき日はない。それはヤコブの悩みの時である。しかし彼はそれから救い出される。
30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.
30:8 万軍の主は仰せられる、その日わたしは彼らの首からそのくびきを砕き離し、彼らの束縛を解く。異邦の人はもはや、彼らを使役することをしない。
30:8 For it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds, and strangers shall no more make use of him:
30:9 彼らはその神、主と、わたしが彼らのために立てるその王ダビデに仕える。
30:9 But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
30:10 主は仰せられる、わがしもべヤコブよ、恐れることはない、イスラエルよ、驚くことはない。見よ、わたしがあなたを救って、遠くからかえし、あなたの子孫を救って、その捕え移された地からかえすからだ。ヤコブは帰ってきて、穏やかに安らかにおり、彼を恐れさせる者はない。
30:10 Therefore fear you not, O my servant Jacob, says the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save you from far, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
30:11 主は言われる、わたしはあなたと共にいて、あなたを救う。わたしはあなたを散らした国々を／ことごとく滅ぼし尽す。しかし、あなたを滅ぼし尽すことはしない。わたしは正しい道に従ってあなたを懲らしめる。決して罰しないではおかない。
30:11 For I am with you, says the LORD, to save you: though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, yet I will not make a full end of you: but I will correct you in measure, and will not leave you altogether unpunished.
30:12 主はこう仰せられる、あなたの痛みはいえず、あなたの傷は重い。
30:12 For thus says the LORD, Your bruise is incurable, and your wound is grievous.
30:13 あなたの訴えを支持する者はなく、あなたの傷をつつむ薬はなく、あなたをいやすものもない。
30:13 There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines.
30:14 あなたの愛する者は皆あなたを忘れて／あなたの事を心に留めない。それは、あなたのとがが多く、あなたの罪がはなはだしいので、わたしがあだを撃つようにあなたを撃ち、残忍な敵のように懲らしたからだ。
30:14 All your lovers have forgotten you; they seek you not; for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of yours iniquity; because your sins were increased.
30:15 なぜ、あなたの傷のために叫ぶのか、あなたの悩みはいえることはない。あなたのとがが多く、あなたの罪がはなはだしいので、これらの事をわたしはあなたにしたのである。
30:15 Why cry you for yours affliction? your sorrow is incurable for the multitude of yours iniquity: because your sins were increased, I have done these things unto you.
30:16 しかし、すべてあなたを食い滅ぼす者は／食い滅ぼされ、あなたをしえたげる者は、ひとり残らず、捕え移され、あなたをかすめる者は、かすめられ、すべてあなたの物を奪う者は奪われる者となる。
30:16 Therefore all they that devour you shall be devoured; and all yours adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil you shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon you will I give for a prey.
30:17 主は言われる、わたしはあなたの健康を回復させ、あなたの傷をいやす。それは、人があなたを捨てられた者とよび、『だれも心に留めないシオン』というからである。
30:17 For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD; because they called you an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after.
30:18 主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはヤコブの天幕を再び栄えさせ、そのすまいにあわれみを施す。町は、その丘に建てなおされ、宮殿はもと立っていた所に立つ。
30:18 Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof.
30:19 感謝の歌と喜ぶ者の声とが、その中から出る。わたしが彼らを増すゆえ、彼らは少なくはなく、また彼らを尊ばれしめるゆえ、卑しめられることはない。
30:19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
30:20 その子らは、いにしえのようになり、その会衆はわたしの前に堅く立つ。すべて彼らをしえたげる者をわたしは罰する。
30:20 Their children also shall be as in old times, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.
30:21 その君は彼ら自身のうちのひとりであり、そのつかさは、そのうちから出る。わたしは彼をわたしに近づけ、彼はわたしに近づく。だれか自分の命をかけてわたしに近づく者があろうかと／主は言われる。
30:21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? says the LORD.
30:22 あなたがたは、わたしの民となり、わたしはあなたがたの神となる」。
30:22 And all of you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
30:23 見よ、主の暴風がくる。憤りと、つむじ風が出て、悪人のこうべをうつ。
30:23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.
30:24 主の激しい怒りは、み心に思い定められたことを行って、これを遂げるまで、退くことはない。末の日にあなたがたはこれを悟るのである。
30:24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he has done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days all of you shall consider it.
31:1 「主は言われる、その時わたしはイスラエルの全部族の神となり、彼らはわたしの民となる」。
31:1 At the same time, says the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
31:2 主はこう言われる、「つるぎをのがれて生き残った民は、荒野で恵みを得た。イスラエルが安息を求めた時、
31:2 Thus says the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
31:3 主は遠くから彼に現れた。わたしは限りなき愛をもってあなたを愛している。それゆえ、わたしは絶えずあなたに／真実をつくしてきた。
31:3 The LORD has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.
31:4 イスラエルのおとめよ、再びわたしはあなたを建てる、あなたは建てられる。あなたは再び鼓をもって身を飾り、出て行って、喜び楽しむ者と共に踊る。
31:4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: you shall again be adorned with your timbrels, and shall go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
31:5 またあなたはぶどうの木をサマリヤの山に植える。植える者は、植えてその実を食べることができる。
31:5 You shall yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
31:6 見守る者がエフライムの山の上に立って／呼ばわる日が来る。『立って、シオンに上り、われわれの神、主に、もうでよう』と」。
31:6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise all of you, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
31:7 主はこう仰せられる、「ヤコブのために喜んで声高く歌い、万国のかしらのために叫び声をあげよ。告げ示し、ほめたたえて言え、『主はその民イスラエルの残りの者を救われた』と。
31:7 For thus says the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish all of you, praise all of you, and say, O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel.
31:8 見よ、わたしは彼らを北の国から連れ帰り、彼らを地の果から集める。彼らのうちには、盲人やあしなえ、妊婦、産婦も共にいる。彼らは大きな群れとなって、ここに帰ってくる。
31:8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that labors with child together: a great company shall return thither.
31:9 彼らは泣き悲しんで帰ってくる。わたしは慰めながら彼らを導き帰る。彼らがつまずかないように、まっすぐな道により、水の流れのそばを通らせる。それは、わたしがイスラエルの父であり、エフライムはわたしの長子だからである。
31:9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
31:10 万国の民よ、あなたがたは主の言葉を聞き、これを遠い、海沿いの地に示して言いなさい、『イスラエルを散らした者がこれを集められる。牧者がその群れを守るようにこれを守られる』と。
31:10 Hear the word of the LORD, O all of you nations, and declare it in the isles far off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.
31:11 すなわち主はヤコブをあがない、彼らよりも強い者の手から彼を救いだされた。
31:11 For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
31:12 彼らは来てシオンの山で声高く歌い、主から賜わった良い物のために、穀物と酒と油および若き羊と牛のために、喜びに輝く。その魂は潤う園のようになり、彼らは重ねて憂えることがない。
31:12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
31:13 その時おとめたちは舞って楽しみ、若い者も老いた者も共に楽しむ。わたしは彼らの悲しみを喜びにかえ、彼らを慰め、憂いの代りに喜びを与える。
31:13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
31:14 わたしは多くのささげ物で、祭司の心を飽かせ、わたしの良き物で、わたしの民を満ち足らせると／主は言われる」。
31:14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD.
31:15 主はこう仰せられる、「嘆き悲しみ、いたく泣く声がラマで聞える。ラケルがその子らのために嘆くのである。子らがもはやいないので、彼女はその子らのことで慰められるのを願わない」。
31:15 Thus says the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
31:16 主はこう仰せられる、「あなたは泣く声をとどめ、目から涙をながすことをやめよ。あなたのわざに報いがある。彼らは敵の地から帰ってくると主は言われる。
31:16 Thus says the LORD; Refrain your voice from weeping, and yours eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
31:17 あなたの将来には希望があり、あなたの子供たちは自分の国に帰ってくると／主は言われる。
31:17 And there is hope in yours end, says the LORD, that your children shall come again to their own border.
31:18 わたしは確かに、エフライムが／こう言って嘆くの聞いた、『あなたはわたしを懲らしめられた、わたしはくびきに慣れない子牛のように／懲らしめをうけた。主よ、あなたはわたしの神、主でいらせられる、わたしを連れ帰って、もとにかえしてください。
31:18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock is not accustomed to the yoke: turn you me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD my God.
31:19 わたしはそむき去った後、悔い、教をうけた後、ももを打った。若い時のはずかしめが身にあるので、わたしは恥じ、 うろたえた』。
31:19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I stroke upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
31:20 主は言われる、エフライムはわたしの愛する子、わたしの喜ぶ子であろうか。わたしは彼について語るごとに、なお彼を忘れることができない。それゆえ、わたしの心は彼をしたっている。わたしは必ず彼をあわれむ。
31:20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD.
31:21 みずからのために道しるべを置き、みずからのために標柱を立てよ。大路に、あなたの通って行った道に心を留めよ。イスラエルのおとめよ、帰れ、これらの、あなたの町々に帰れ。
31:21 Set you up guideposts, make you high heaps: set yours heart toward the highway, even the way which you went: return, O virgin of Israel, return to these your cities.
31:22 不信の娘よ、いつまでさまようのか。主は地の上に新しい事を創造されたのだ、女が男を保護する事である」。
31:22 How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
31:23 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、「わたしが彼らを再び栄えさせる時、人々はまたユダの地とその町々でこの言葉を言う、『正義のすみかよ、聖なる山よ、どうか主がおまえを祝福してくださるように』。
31:23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.
31:24 ユダとそのすべての町の人、および農夫と群れを飼って歩き回る者は共にそこに住む。
31:24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.
31:25 わたしが疲れた魂を飽き足らせ、すべて悩んでいる魂を慰めるからである」。
31:25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
31:26 ここでわたしは目をさましたが、わたしの眠りは、ここちよかった。
31:26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
31:27 「主は言われる、見よ、わたしが人の種と獣の種とをイスラエルの家とユダの家とにまく日が来る。
31:27 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
31:28 わたしは彼らを抜き、砕き、倒し、滅ぼし、悩まそうと待ちかまえていたように、また彼らを建て、植えようと待ちかまえていると主は言われる。
31:28 And it shall come to pass, that like I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says the LORD.
31:29 その時、彼らはもはや、『父がすっぱいぶどうを食べたので、子どもの歯がうく』とは言わない。
31:29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
31:30 人はめいめい自分の罪によって死ぬ。すっぱいぶどうを食べる人はみな、その歯がうく。
31:30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eats the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31:31 主は言われる、見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家とユダの家とに新しい契約を立てる日が来る。
31:31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
31:32 この契約はわたしが彼らの先祖をその手をとってエジプトの地から導き出した日に立てたようなものではない。わたしは彼らの夫であったのだが、彼らはそのわたしの契約を破ったと主は言われる。
31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD:
31:33 しかし、それらの日の後にわたしがイスラエルの家に立てる契約はこれである。すなわちわたしは、わたしの律法を彼らのうちに置き、その心にしるす。わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となると主は言われる。
31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
31:34 人はもはや、おのおのその隣とその兄弟に教えて、『あなたは主を知りなさい』とは言わない。それは、彼らが小より大に至るまで皆、わたしを知るようになるからであると主は言われる。わたしは彼らの不義をゆるし、もはやその罪を思わない」。
31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
31:35 主はこう言われる、すなわち／太陽を与えて昼の光とし、月と星とを定めて夜の光とし、海をかき立てて、その波を鳴りとどろかせる者――その名は万軍の主という。
31:35 Thus says the LORD, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
31:36 主は言われる、「もしこの定めがわたしの前ですたれてしまうなら、イスラエルの子孫もすたって、永久にわたしの前で民であることはできない」。
31:36 If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
31:37 主はこう言われる、「もし上の天を量ることができ、下の地の基を探ることができるなら、そのとき、わたしはイスラエルのすべての子孫を／そのもろもろの行いのために捨て去ると／主は言われる」。
31:37 Thus says the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD.
31:38 主は言われる、「見よ、この町が、ハナネルの塔から隅の門まで、主のために再建される時が来る。
31:38 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
31:39 測りなわはそれよりも遠くまっすぐに延びて、ガレブの丘に達し、ゴアのほうに向かう。
31:39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth opposite to it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
31:40 死体と灰との谷の全部、またキデロンの谷に行くまでと、東のほうの馬の門のすみに行くまでとのすべての畑はみな主の聖なる所となり、永遠にわたって、ふたたび抜かれ、また倒されることはない」。
31:40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
32:1 ユダの王ゼデキヤの十年、すなわちネブカデレザルの十八年に、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ。
32:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
32:2 その時、バビロンの王の軍勢がエルサレムを攻め囲んでいて、預言者エレミヤはユダの王の宮殿にある監視の庭のうちに監禁されていた。
32:2 For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.
32:3 ユダの王ゼデキヤが彼を閉じ込めたのであるが、王は言った、「なぜあなたは預言して言うのか、『主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはこの町をバビロンの王の手に渡し、彼はこれを取る。
32:3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore do you prophesy, and say, Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
32:4 またユダの王ゼデキヤはカルデヤびとの手をのがれることなく、かならずバビロンの王の手に渡され、顔と顔を合わせて彼と語り、目と目は相まみえる。
32:4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;
32:5 そして彼はゼデキヤをバビロンに引いていき、ゼデキヤは、わたしが彼を顧みる時まで、そこにいると主は言われる。あなたがたは、カルデヤびとと戦っても勝つことはできない』と」。
32:5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, says the LORD: though all of you fight with the Chaldeans, all of you shall not prosper.
32:6 エレミヤは言った、「主の言葉がわたしに臨んで言われる、
32:6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
32:7 『見よ、あなたのおじシャルムの子ハナメルがあなたの所に来て言う、「アナトテにあるわたしの畑を買いなさい。それは、これを買い取り、あがなう権利があなたにあるから」と』。
32:7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum yours uncle shall come unto you saying, Buy you my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.
32:8 はたして主の言葉のように、わたしのいとこであるハナメルが監視の庭のうちにいるわたしの所に来て言った、『ベニヤミンの地のアナトテにあるわたしの畑を買ってください。所有するのも、あがなうのも、あなたの権利なのです。買い取ってあなたの物にしてください。これが主の言葉であるのをわたしは知っていました』。
32:8 So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray you, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
32:9 そこでわたしは、いとこのハナメルからアナトテにある畑を買い取り、銀十七シケルを量って彼に支払った。
32:9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.
32:10 すなわち、わたしはその証書をつくって、これに記名し、それを封印し、証人を立て、はかりをもって銀を量って与えた。
32:10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.
32:11 そしてわたしはその約定をしるして封印した買収証書と、封印のない写しとを取り、
32:11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:
32:12 いとこのハナメルと、買収証書に記名した証人たち、および監視の庭にすわっているすべてのユダヤ人の前で、その証書をマアセヤの子であるネリヤの子バルクに与え、
32:12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
32:13 彼らの前で、わたしはバルクに命じて言った、
32:13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
32:14 『万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、これらの証書すなわち、この買収証書の封印したものと、封印のない写しとを取り、これらを土の器に入れて、長く保存せよ。
32:14 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
32:15 万軍の主、イスラエルの神がこう言われるからである、「この地で人々はまた家と畑とぶどう畑を買うようになる」と』。
32:15 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
32:16 わたしは買収証書をネリヤの子バルクに渡したあとで主に祈って言った、
32:16 Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,
32:17 『ああ主なる神よ、あなたは大いなる力と、伸べた腕をもって天と地をお造りになったのです。あなたのできないことは、ひとつもありません。
32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, you have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for you:
32:18 あなたはいつくしみを千万人に施し、また父の罪をそののちの子孫に報いられるのです。あなたは大いなる全能の神でいらせられ、その名は万軍の主と申されます。
32:18 You show loving kindness unto thousands, and recompence the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,
32:19 あなたの計りごとは大きく、また、事を行うのに力があり、あなたの目は人々の歩むすべての道を見て、おのおのの道にしたがい、その行いの実によってこれに報いられます。
32:19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for yours eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
32:20 あなたは、しるしと、不思議なわざとをエジプトの地に行い、また今日に至るまでイスラエルと全人類のうちに行い、そして今日のように名をあげられました。
32:20 Which have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and have made you a name, as at this day;
32:21 あなたは、しるしと、不思議なわざと、強い手と、伸べた腕と、大いなる恐るべき事をもって、あなたの民イスラエルをエジプトの地から導き出し、
32:21 And have brought forth your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;
32:22 この地を彼らに賜わりました。これはあなたが彼らの先祖たちに与えようと誓われた乳と蜜の流れる地です。
32:22 And have given them this land, which you did swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
32:23 こうして彼らは、はいってこれを獲たのですが、あなたの声に聞き従わず、あなたの律法を行わず、すべてあなたがせよと命じられたことをしなかったので、あなたはこの災を彼らの上にお下しになりました。
32:23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not your voice, neither walked in your law; they have done nothing of all that you commandedst them to do: therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them:
32:24 見よ、塁が築きあげられたのは、この町を取るためです。つるぎと、ききんと、疫病のために、町はこれを攻めているカルデヤびとの手に渡されます。あなたの言われたようになりましたのは、ごらんのとおりであります。
32:24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what you have spoken has come to pass; and, behold, you see it.
32:25 主なる神よ、あなたはわたしに言われました、「銀をもって畑を買い、証人を立てよ」と。そうであるのに、町はカルデヤびとの手に渡されています』」。
32:25 And you have said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy you the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
32:26 主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
32:26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
32:27 「見よ、わたしは主である、すべて命ある者の神である。わたしにできない事があろうか。
32:27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
32:28 それゆえ、主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはこの町をカルデヤびとと、バビロンの王ネブカデレザルの手に渡す。彼はこれを取る。
32:28 Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:
32:29 この町を攻めているカルデヤびとがきて、この町に火をつけて焼き払う。屋根の上で人々が、バアルに香をたき、ほかの神々に酒をそそいで、わたしを怒らせたその家をも彼らは焼く。
32:29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.
32:30 それは、イスラエルの人々とユダの人々とは、その若い時から、わたしの前に悪いことのみを行い、またイスラエルの民はその手のわざをもって、わたしを怒らせることばかりをしたからであると主は言われる。
32:30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says the LORD.
32:31 この町はそれが建った日からきょうまで、わたしの怒りと憤りとをひき起してきたので、わたしの前からこれを除き去るのである。
32:31 For this city has been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,
32:32 それは、イスラエルの民とユダの民とが、もろもろの悪を行って、わたしを怒らせたことによるのである。――彼らの王たちと、そのつかさたち、祭司たち、預言者たち、またユダの人々とエルサレムの住民たちが皆そうである。
32:32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
32:33 彼らはその背中をわたしに向けて顔をわたしに向けず、わたしがたゆまず教えたにもかかわらず、彼らは教を聞かず、またうけないのである。
32:33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
32:34 彼らは憎むべき物を、わが名をもって呼ばれている家にすえつけて、そこを汚し、
32:34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.
32:35 またベンヒンノムの谷にバアルの高き所を築いて、むすこ娘をモレクにささげた。わたしは彼らにこのようなことを命じたことはなく、また彼らがこの憎むべきことを行って、ユダに罪を犯させようとは考えもしなかった。
32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
32:36 それゆえ今イスラエルの神、主は、この町、すなわちあなたがたが、『つるぎと、ききんと、疫病のためにバビロンの王の手に渡される』といっている町についてこう仰せられる、
32:36 And now therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof all of you say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;
32:37 見よ、わたしは、わたしの怒りと憤りと大いなる怒りをもって、彼らを追いやったもろもろの国から彼らを集め、この所へ導きかえって、安らかに住まわせる。
32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, where I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:
32:38 そして彼らはわたしの民となり、わたしは彼らの神となる。
32:38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:
32:39 わたしは彼らに一つの心と一つの道を与えて常にわたしを恐れさせる。これは彼らが彼ら自身とその後の子孫の幸を得るためである。
32:39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:
32:40 わたしは彼らと永遠の契約を立てて、彼らを見捨てずに恵みを施すことを誓い、またわたしを恐れる恐れを彼らの心に置いて、わたしを離れることのないようにしよう。
32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
32:41 わたしは彼らに恵みを施すことを喜びとし、心をつくし、精神をつくし、真実をもって彼らをこの地に植える。
32:41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
32:42 主はこう仰せられる、わたしがこのもろもろの大きな災をこの民に下したように、わたしが彼らに約束するもろもろの幸を彼らの上に下す。
32:42 For thus says the LORD; Like I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.
32:43 人々はこの地に畑を買うようになる。あなたがたが、『それは荒れて人も獣もいなくなり、カルデヤびとの手に渡されてしまう』といっている地である。
32:43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof all of you say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
32:44 人々はベニヤミンの地と、エルサレムの周囲と、ユダの町々と、山地の町々と、平地の町々と、ネゲブの町々で、銀をもって畑を買い、証書をつくって、これに記名し封印し、また証人を立てる。それは、わたしが彼らを再び栄えさせるからであると主は言われる」。
32:44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, says the LORD.
33:1 エレミヤがなお監視の庭に閉じ込められている時、主の言葉はふたたび彼に臨んだ、
33:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
33:2 「地を造られた主、それを形造って堅く立たせられた主、その名を主と名のっておられる者がこう仰せられる、
33:2 Thus says the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
33:3 わたしに呼び求めよ、そうすれば、わたしはあなたに答える。そしてあなたの知らない大きな隠されている事を、あなたに示す。
33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you know not.
33:4 イスラエルの神、主は塁と、つるぎとを防ぐために破壊されたこの町の家と、ユダの王の家についてこう言われる、
33:4 For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
33:5 カルデヤびとは来て戦い、わたしが怒りと憤りをもって殺す人々の死体を、それに満たす。わたしは人々のもろもろの悪のために、この町にわたしの顔をおおい隠した。
33:5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
33:6 見よ、わたしは健康と、いやしとを、ここにもたらして人々をいやし、豊かな繁栄と安全とを彼らに示す。
33:6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
33:7 わたしはユダとイスラエルを再び栄えさせ、彼らを建てて、もとのようにする。
33:7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
33:8 わたしは彼らがわたしに向かって犯した罪のすべてのとがを清め、彼らがわたしに向かって犯した罪と反逆のすべてのとがをゆるす。
33:8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.
33:9 この町は地のもろもろの民の前に、わたしのために喜びの名となり、誉となり、栄えとなる。彼らはわたしがわたしの民に施すもろもろの恵みのことを聞く。そして、わたしがこの町に施すもろもろの恵みと、もろもろの繁栄のために恐れて身をふるわす。
33:9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
33:10 主はこう言われる、あなたがたが、『それは荒れて、人もおらず獣もいない』というこの所、すなわち、荒れて、人もおらず住む者もなく、獣もいないユダの町とエルサレムのちまたに、
33:10 Thus says the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which all of you say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,
33:11 再び喜びの声、楽しみの声、花婿の声、花嫁の声、および／『万軍の主に感謝せよ、主は恵みふかく、そのいつくしみは、いつまでも絶えることがない』といって、感謝の供え物を主の宮に携えてくる者の声が聞える。それは、わたしがこの地を再び栄えさせて初めのようにするからであると主は言われる。
33:11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endures for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, says the LORD.
33:12 万軍の主はこう言われる、荒れて、人もおらず獣もいないこの所と、そのすべての町々に再びその群れを伏させる牧者のすまいがあるようになる。
33:12 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
33:13 山地の町々と、平地の町々と、ネゲブの町々と、ベニヤミンの地、エルサレムの周囲と、ユダの町々で、群れは再びそれを数える者の手の下を通りすぎると主は言われる。
33:13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that tells them, says the LORD.
33:14 主は言われる、見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家とユダの家に約束したことをなし遂げる日が来る。
33:14 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
33:15 その日、その時になるならば、わたしはダビデのために一つの正しい枝を生じさせよう。彼は公平と正義を地に行う。
33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
33:16 その日、ユダは救を得、エルサレムは安らかにおる。その名は『主はわれわれの正義』ととなえられる。
33:16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
33:17 主はこう仰せられる、イスラエルの家の位に座する人がダビデの子孫のうちに欠けることはない。
33:17 For thus says the LORD; David shall never lack a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
33:18 またわたしの前に燔祭をささげ、素祭を焼き、つねに犠牲をささげる人が、レビびとである祭司のうちに絶えることはない」。
33:18 Neither shall the priests the Levites lack a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle food offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
33:19 主の言葉はエレミヤに臨んだ、
33:19 And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,
33:20 「主はこう仰せられる、もしあなたがたが、昼と結んだわたしの契約を破り、また夜と結んだわたしの契約を破り、昼と夜が定められた時に来ないようにすることができるならば、
33:20 Thus says the LORD; If all of you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
33:21 しもべダビデとわたしが結んだ契約もまた破れ、彼はその位に座して王となる子を与えられない。またわたしがわたしに仕えるレビびとである祭司に立てた契約も破れる。
33:21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
33:22 天の星は数えることができず、浜の砂は量ることができない。そのようにわたしは、しもべダビデの子孫と、わたしに仕えるレビびとである祭司の数を増そう」。
33:22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
33:23 主の言葉はエレミヤに臨んだ、
33:23 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,
33:24 「あなたはこの民が、『主は自ら選んだ二つのやからを捨てた』といっているのを聞かないか。彼らはこのようにわたしの民を侮って、これを国とみなさないのである。
33:24 Consider you not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD has chosen, he has even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
33:25 主はこう言われる、もしわたしが昼と夜とに契約を立てず、また天地のおきてを定めなかったのであれば、
33:25 Thus says the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
33:26 わたしは、ヤコブとわたしのしもべダビデとの子孫を捨てて、再び彼の子孫のうちからアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの子孫を治める者を選ばない。わたしは彼らを再び栄えさせ、彼らにあわれみをたれよう」。
33:26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
34:1 バビロンの王ネブカデレザルがその全軍と、彼に従っている地のすべての国の人々、およびもろもろの民を率いて、エルサレムとその町々を攻めて戦っていた時に、主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉、
34:1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,
34:2 「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、行ってユダの王ゼデキヤに告げて言いなさい、『主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはこの町をバビロンの王の手に渡す。彼は火でこれを焼く。
34:2 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:
34:3 あなたはその手をのがれることはできない、必ず捕えられてその手に渡される。あなたはまのあたりバビロンの王を見、顔と顔を合わせて彼と語る。それからバビロンへ行く』。
34:3 And you shall not escape out of his hand, but shall surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and yours eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with you mouth to mouth, and you shall go to Babylon.
34:4 しかしユダの王ゼデキヤよ、主の言葉を聞きなさい。主はあなたの事についてこう言われる、『あなたはつるぎで死ぬことはない。
34:4 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus says the LORD of you, You shall not die by the sword:
34:5 あなたは安らかに死ぬ。民はあなたの先祖であるあなたの先の王たちのために香をたいたように、あなたのためにも香をたき、またあなたのために嘆いて「ああ、主君よ」と言う』。わたしがこの言葉をいうのであると主は言われる」。
34:5 But you shall die in peace: and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings which were before you, so shall they burn odours for you; and they will lament you, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, says the LORD.
34:6 そこで預言者エレミヤはこの言葉をことごとくエルサレムでユダの王ゼデキヤに告げた。
34:6 Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
34:7 その時バビロンの王の軍勢はエルサレム、および残っているユダのすべての町、すなわちラキシとアゼカを攻めて戦っていた。それはユダの町々のうちに、これらの堅固な町がなお残っていたからである。
34:7 When the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
34:8 ゼデキヤ王がエルサレムにいるすべての民と契約を立てて、彼らに釈放のことを告げ示した後に、主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。
34:8 This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
34:9 その契約はすなわち人がおのおのそのヘブルびとである男女の奴隷を解放し、その兄弟であるユダヤ人を奴隷としないことを定めたものであった。
34:9 That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to know, of a Jew his brother.
34:10 この契約をしたつかさたちと、すべての民は人がおのおのその男女の奴隷を解放し、再びこれを奴隷としないということに聞き従って、これを解放したが、
34:10 Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should make use of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
34:11 後に心を翻し、解放した男女の奴隷をひきかえさせ、再びこれを従わせて奴隷とした。
34:11 But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
34:12 そこで主の言葉が主からエレミヤに臨んだ、
34:12 Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
34:13 「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、わたしはあなたがたの先祖をエジプトの地、その奴隷であった家から導き出した時、彼らと契約を立てて言った、
34:13 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,
34:14 『あなたがたの兄弟であるヘブルびとで、あなたがたに身を売り、六年の間あなたがたに仕えた者は、六年の終りに、あなたがたおのおのがこれを解放しなければならない。あなたがたは彼を解放して、あなたがたに仕えることをやめさせなければならない』。ところがあなたがたの先祖たちはわたしに聞き従わず、またその耳を傾けかった。
34:14 At the end of seven years let all of you go every man his brother an Hebrew, which has been sold unto you; and when he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.
34:15 しかしあなたがたは今日、心を改め、おのおのその隣り人に釈放のことを告げ示して、わたしの見て正しいとすることを行い、かつわたしの名をもってとなえられる家で、わたしの前に契約を立てた。
34:15 And all of you were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and all of you had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:
34:16 ところがあなたがたは再び心を翻して、わたしの名を汚し、おのおの男女の奴隷をその願いのままに解放したのをひきかえさせ、再びこれを従わせて、あなたがたの奴隷とした。
34:16 But all of you turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom he had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
34:17 それゆえに、主はこう仰せられる、あなたがたがわたしに聞き従わず、おのおのその兄弟とその隣に釈放のことを告げ示さなかったので、見よ、わたしはあなたがたのために釈放を告げ示して、あなたがたをつるぎと、疫病と、ききんとに渡すと主は言われる。わたしはあなたがたを地のもろもろの国に忌みきらわれるものとする。
34:17 Therefore thus says the LORD; All of you have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, says the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
34:18 わたしの契約を破り、わたしの前に立てた契約の定めに従わない人々を、わたしは彼らが二つに裂いて、その二つの間を通った子牛のようにする。――
34:18 And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in two, and passed between the parts thereof,
34:19 すなわち二つに分けた子牛の間を通ったユダのつかさたち、エルサレムのつかさたちと宦官と祭司と、この地のすべての民を、
34:19 The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;
34:20 わたしはその敵の手と、その命を求める者の手に渡す。その死体は空の鳥と野の獣の食物となる。
34:20 I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for food unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.
34:21 わたしはまたユダの王ゼデキヤと、そのつかさたちをその敵の手、その命を求める者の手、あなたがたを離れて去ったバビロンの王の軍勢の手に渡す。
34:21 And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.
34:22 主は言われる、見よ、わたしは彼らに命じて、この町に引きかえしてこさせる。彼らはこの町を攻めて戦い、これを取り、火を放って焼き払う。わたしはユダの町々を住む人のない荒れ地とする」。
34:22 Behold, I will command, says the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
35:1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの時、主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。
35:1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
35:2 「レカブびとの家に行って、彼らと語り、彼らを主の宮の一室に連れてきて、酒を飲ませなさい」。
35:2 Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
35:3 そこでわたしはハバジニヤの子エレミヤの子であるヤザニヤと、その兄弟と、そのむすこたち、およびレカブびとの全家を連れ、
35:3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
35:4 これを主の宮にあるハナンの子たちの室に連れてきた。ハナンはイグダリヤの子であって神の人であった。その室は、つかさたちの室の次にあって、門を守るシャルムの子マアセヤの室の上にあった。
35:4 And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
35:5 わたしはレカブびとの前に酒を満たしたつぼと杯を置き、彼らに、「酒を飲みなさい」と言ったが、
35:5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink all of you wine.
35:6 彼らは答えた、「われわれは酒を飲みません。それは、レカブの子であるわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがわれわれに命じて、『あなたがたとあなたがたの子孫はいつまでも酒を飲んではならない。
35:6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, All of you shall drink no wine, neither all of you, nor your sons for ever:
35:7 また家を建てず、種をまかず、またぶどう畑を植えてはならない。またこれを所有してはならない。あなたがたは生きながらえる間は幕屋に住んでいなさい。そうするならば、あなたがたはその宿っている地に長く生きることができると言ったからです』。
35:7 Neither shall all of you build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days all of you shall dwell in tents; that all of you may live many days in the land where all of you be strangers.
35:8 こうしてわれわれは、レカブの子であるわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがすべて命じた言葉に従って、われわれも、妻も、むすこ娘も生きながらえる間、酒を飲まず、
35:8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he has charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
35:9 住む家を建てず、ぶどう畑も畑も種も持たないで、
35:9 Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
35:10 幕屋に住み、すべてわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがわれわれに命じたところに従い、そのように行いました。
35:10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
35:11 しかしバビロンの王ネブカデレザルがこの地に上ってきた時、われわれは言いました、『さあ、われわれはエルサレムへ行こう。カルデヤびとの軍勢とスリヤびとの軍勢が恐ろしい』と。こうしてわれわれはエルサレムに住んでいるのです」。
35:11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.
35:12 その時、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
35:12 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
35:13 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、行って、ユダの人々とエルサレムに住む者とに告げよ。主は仰せられる、あなたがたはわたしの言葉を聞いて教を受けないのか。
35:13 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will all of you not receive instruction to hearken to my words? says the LORD.
35:14 レカブの子ヨナダブがその子孫に酒を飲むなと命じた言葉は守られてきた。彼らは今日に至るまで酒を飲まず、その先祖の命に従ってきた。ところがあなたがたはわたしがしきりに語ったけれども、わたしに聞き従わなかった。
35:14 The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father's commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but all of you hearkened not unto me.
35:15 わたしはまた、わたしのしもべである預言者たちを、しきりにあなたがたにつかわして言わせた、『あなたがたは今おのおのその悪い道を離れ、その行いを改めなさい。ほかの神々に従い仕えてはならない。そうすれば、あなたがたはわたしがあなたがたと、あなたがたの先祖に与えたこの地に住むことができる』と。しかしあなたがは耳を傾けず、わたしに聞かなかった。
35:15 I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return all of you now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and all of you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but all of you have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
35:16 レカブの子ヨナダブの子孫は、その先祖が彼らに命じた命令を守っているのである。しかしこの民はわたしに従わなかった。
35:16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people has not hearkened unto me:
35:17 それゆえ万軍の神、主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはユダとエルサレムに住む者とに、わたしが彼らの上に宣告した災を下す。わたしが彼らに語っても聞かず、彼らを呼んでも答えなかったからである」。
35:17 Therefore thus says the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
35:18 ところでエレミヤはレカブびとの家の人々に言った、「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、あなたがたは先祖ヨナダブの命に従い、そのすべての戒めを守り、彼があなたがたに命じた事を行った。
35:18 And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because all of you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he has commanded you:
35:19 それゆえ、万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、レカブの子ヨナダブには、わたしの前に立つ人がいつまでも欠けることはない」。
35:19 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before me for ever.
38:1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの四年に主からこの言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
36:1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
38:2 「あなたは巻物を取り、わたしがあなたに語った日、すなわちヨシヤの日から今日に至るまで、イスラエルとユダと万国とに関してあなたに語ったすべての言葉を、それにしるしなさい。
36:2 Take you a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke unto you, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
38:3 ユダの家がわたしの下そうとしているすべての災を聞いて、おのおのその悪い道を離れて帰ることもあろう。そうすれば、わたしはそのとがとその罪をゆるすかも知れない」。
36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
38:4 そこでエレミヤはネリヤの子バルクを呼んだ。バルクはエレミヤの口述にしたがって、主が彼にお告げになった言葉をことごとく巻物に書きしるした。
36:4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.
38:5 そしてエレミヤはバルクに命じて言った、「わたしは主の宮に行くことを妨げられている。
36:5 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:
38:6 それで、あなたが行って、断食の日に主の宮で、すべての民が聞いているところで、あなたがわたしの口述にしたがって、巻物に筆記した主の言葉を読みなさい。またユダの人々がその町々から来て聞いているところで、それを読みなさい。
36:6 Therefore go you, and read in the roll, which you have written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
38:7 彼らは主の前に祈願をささげ、おのおのその悪い道を離れて帰ることもあろう。主がこの民に対して宣告された怒りと憤りは大きいからである」。
36:7 It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.
38:8 こうしてネリヤの子バルクはすべて預言者エレミヤが自分に命じたように、主の宮で、その巻物に書かれた主の言葉を読んだ。
36:8 And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD's house.
38:9 ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの五年九月、エルサレムのすべての民と、ユダの町々からエルサレムに来たすべての民とは、主の前に断食を行うべきことを告げ示された。
36:9 And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
38:10 バルクは主の宮の上の庭で、主の宮の新しい門の入口のかたわらにある書記シャパンの子であるゲマリヤのへやで、巻物に書かれたエレミヤの言葉をすべての民に読み聞かせた。
36:10 Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD's house, in the ears of all the people.
38:11 シャパンの子であるゲマリヤの子ミカヤはその巻物にある主の言葉をことごとく聞いて、
36:11 When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
38:12 王の家にある書記のへやに下って行くと、もろもろのつかさたち、すなわち書記エリシャマ、シマヤの子デラヤ、アカボルの子エルナタン、シャパンの子ゲマリヤ、ハナニヤの子ゼデキヤおよびすべてのつかさたちがそこに座していた。
36:12 Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
38:13 ミカヤはバルクが民に巻物を読んで聞かせたとき、自分の聞いたすべての言葉を彼らに告げたので、
36:13 Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
38:14 つかさたちはクシの子セレミヤの子であるネタニヤの子エホデをバルクのもとにつかわして言わせた、「あなたが民に読み聞かせたその巻物を手に取って、来てください」。そこでネリヤの子バルクは巻物を手に取って、彼らのもとに来たので、
36:14 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in yours hand the roll wherein you have read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
38:15 彼らはバルクに言った、「座してそれを読んでください」。バルクはそれを彼らに読みきかせた。
36:15 And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.
38:16 彼らはそのすべての言葉を聞き、恐れて互に見かわし、バルクに言った、「われわれはこのすべての言葉を、王に報告しなければならない」。
36:16 Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and the other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
38:17 そしてバルクに尋ねて言った、「このすべての言葉を、あなたがどのようにして書いたのか話してください。彼の口述によるのですか」。
36:17 And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?
38:18 バルクは彼らに答えた、「彼がわたしにこのすべての言葉を口述したので、わたしはそれを墨汁で巻物に書いたのです」。
36:18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.
38:19 つかさたちはバルクに言った、「行って、エレミヤと一緒に身を隠しなさい。人に所在を知られてはなりません」。
36:19 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide you, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where all of you be.
38:20 そこで彼らは巻物を書記エリシャマのへやに置いて庭にはいり、王のもとへ行って、このすべての言葉を王に告げたので、
36:20 And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
38:21 王はその巻物を持ってこさせるためにエホデをつかわした。エホデは書記エリシャマのへやから巻物を取ってきて、それを王と王のかたわらに立っているすべてのつかさたちに読みきかせた。
36:21 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
38:22 時は九月であって、王は冬の家に座していた。その前に炉があって火が燃えていた。
36:22 Now the king sat in the winter-house in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
38:23 エホデが三段か四段を読むと、王は小刀をもってそれを切り取り、炉の火に投げいれ、ついに巻物全部を炉の火で焼きつくした。
36:23 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
38:24 王とその家来たちはこのすべての言葉を聞いても恐れず、またその着物を裂くこともしなかった。
36:24 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
38:25 エルナタン、デラヤおよびゲマリヤが王にその巻物を焼かないようにと願ったときにも彼は聞きいれなかった。
36:25 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
38:26 そして王は王子エラメルとアヅリエルの子セラヤとアブデルの子セレミヤに、書記バルクと預言者エレミヤを捕えるようにと命じたが、主は彼らを隠された。
36:26 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.
38:27 バルクがエレミヤの口述にしたがって筆記した言葉を載せた巻物を王が焼いた後、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
36:27 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
38:28 「他の巻物を取り、ユダの王エホヤキムが焼いた、前の巻物のうちにある言葉を皆それに書きしるしなさい。
36:28 Take you again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
38:29 またユダの王エホヤキムについて言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、あなたはこの巻物を焼いて言った、「どうしてあなたはこの巻物に、バビロンの王が必ず来てこの地を滅ぼし、ここから人と獣とを絶やす、と書いたのか」と。
36:29 And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus says the LORD; You have burned this roll, saying, Why have you written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
38:30 それゆえ主はユダの王エホヤキムについてこう言われる、彼の子孫にはダビデの位にすわる者がなくなる。また彼の死体は捨てられて昼は暑さにあい、夜は霜にあう。
36:30 Therefore thus says the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
38:31 わたしはまた彼とその子孫とその家来たちをその罪のために罰する。また彼らとエルサレムの民とユダの人々には災を下す。この災のことについては、すでに語ったけれども、彼らは聞くことをしなかった』」。
36:31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.
38:32 そこでエレミヤは他の巻物を取り、ネリヤの子書記バルクに与えたので、バルクはユダの王エホヤキムが火にくべて焼いた巻物のすべての言葉を、エレミヤの口述にしたがってそれに書きしるし、また同じような言葉を多くそれに加えた。
36:32 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
39:1 ヨシヤの子ゼデキヤはエホヤキムの子コニヤに代って王となった。バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが彼をユダの地の王としたのである。
37:1 And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
39:2 彼もその家来たちも、その地の人々も、主が預言者エレミヤによって語られた言葉に聞き従わなかった。
37:2 But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
39:3 ゼデキヤ王はセレミヤの子ユカルと、マアセヤの子祭司ゼパニヤを預言者エレミヤにつかわして、「われわれのために、われわれの神、主に祈ってください」と言わせた。
37:3 And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.
39:4 エレミヤは民の中に出入りしていた。まだ獄屋に入れられなかったからである。
37:4 Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.
39:5 パロの軍勢がエジプトから出て来たので、エルサレムを攻め囲んでいたカルデヤびとはその情報を聞いてエルサレムを退いた。
37:5 Then Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
39:6 その時、主の言葉は預言者エレミヤに臨んだ、
37:6 Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah saying,
39:7 「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、あなたがたをつかわしてわたしに求めたユダの王にこう言いなさい、『あなたがたを救うために出てきたパロの軍勢はその国エジプトに帰ろうとしている。
37:7 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall all of you say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which has come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
39:8 カルデヤびとが再び来てこの町を攻めて戦い、これを取って火で焼き滅ぼす。
37:8 And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
39:9 主はこう言われる、あなたがたは、「カルデヤびとはきっとわれわれを離れ去る」といって自分を欺いてはならない。彼らは去ることはない。
37:9 Thus says the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
39:10 たといあなたがたが自分を攻めて戦うカルデヤびとの全軍を撃ち破って、その天幕のうちに負傷者のみを残しても、彼らは立ち上がって火でこの町を焼き滅ぼす』」。
37:10 For though all of you had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
39:11 さてカルデヤびとの軍勢がパロの軍勢の来るのを聞いてエルサレムを退いたとき、
37:11 And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,
39:12 エレミヤは、ベニヤミンの地で民のうちに自分の分け前を受け取るため、エルサレムを立ってその地へ行こうと、
37:12 Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
39:13 ベニヤミンの門に着いたとき、そこにハナニヤの子セレミヤの子でイリヤという名の番兵がいて、預言者エレミヤを捕え、「あなたはカルデヤびとの側に脱走しようとしている」と言った。
37:13 And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You fall away to the Chaldeans.
39:14 エレミヤは言った、「それはまちがいだ。わたしはカルデヤびとの側に脱走しようとしていない」。しかしイリヤは聞かず、エレミヤを捕えて、つかさたちのもとへ引いて行った。
37:14 Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
39:15 つかさたちは怒って、エレミヤを打ちたたき、書記ヨナタンの家の獄屋にいれた。この家が獄屋になっていたからである。
37:15 Wherefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and stroke him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
39:16 エレミヤが地下の獄屋にはいって、そこに多くの日を送ってのち、
37:16 When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
39:17 ゼデキヤ王は人をつかわし、彼を連れてこさせた。王は自分の家でひそかに彼に尋ねて言った、「主から何かお言葉があったか」。エレミヤはあったと答えた。そして言った、「あなたはバビロンの王の手に引き渡されます」。
37:17 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, you shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
39:18 エレミヤはまたゼデキヤ王に言った、「わたしが獄屋にいれられたのは、あなたに、またはあなたの家来に、あるいはこの民に、どのような罪を犯したからなのですか。
37:18 Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that all of you have put me in prison?
39:19 あなたがたに預言して、『バビロンの王はあなたがたをも、この地をも攻めにこない』と言っていたあなたがたの預言者は今どこにいるのですか。
37:19 Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
39:20 王なるわが君よ、どうぞ今お聞きください。わたしの願いをお聞きとどけください。わたしを書記ヨナタンの家へ帰らせないでください。そうでないと、わたしはそこで殺されるでしょう」。
37:20 Therefore hear now, I pray you, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray you, be accepted before you; that you cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
39:21 そこでゼデキヤ王は命を下し、エレミヤを監視の庭に入れさせ、かつ、パンを造る者の町から毎日パン一個を彼に与えさせた。これは町にパンがなくなるまで続いた。こうしてエレミヤは監視の庭にいた。
37:21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
38:1 マッタンの子シパテヤ、パシュルの子ゲダリヤ、セレミヤの子ユカル、マルキヤの子パシュルはエレミヤがすべての民に告げていたその言葉を聞いた。
38:1 Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying,
38:2 彼は言った、「主はこう言われる、この町にとどまる者は、つるぎや、ききんや、疫病で死ぬ。しかし出てカルデヤびとにくだる者は死を免れる。すなわちその命を自分のぶんどり物として生きることができる。
38:2 Thus says the LORD, He that remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goes forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.
38:3 主はこう言われる、この町は必ずバビロンの王の軍勢の手に渡される。彼はこれを取る」。
38:3 Thus says the LORD, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which shall take it.
38:4 すると、つかさたちは王に言った、「この人を殺してください。このような言葉をのべて、この町に残っている兵士の手と、すべての民の手を弱くしているからです。この人は民の安泰を求めないで、その災を求めているのです」。
38:4 Therefore the princes said unto the king, We plead to you, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.
38:5 ゼデキヤ王は言った、「見よ、彼はあなたがたの手にある。王はあなたがたに逆らって何事をもなし得ない」。
38:5 Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you.
38:6 そこで彼らはエレミヤを捕え、監視の庭にある王子マルキヤの穴に投げ入れた。すなわち、綱をもってエレミヤをつり降ろしたが、その穴には水がなく、泥だけであったので、エレミヤは泥の中に沈んだ。
38:6 Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.
38:7 王の家の宦官エチオピヤびとエベデメレクは、彼らがエレミヤを穴に投げ入れたことを聞いた。その時、王はベニヤミンの門に座していたので、
38:7 Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;
38:8 エベデメレクは王の家から出て行って王に言った、
38:8 Ebedmelech went forth out of the king's house, and spoke to the king saying,
38:9 「王なるわが君よ、この人々が預言者エレミヤにしたことはみな良いことではありません。彼を穴に投げ入れました。町に食物がなくなりましたから、彼はそこで餓死するでしょう」。
38:9 My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
38:10 王はエチオピヤびとエベデメレクに命じて言った、「ここから三人のひとを連れて行って、預言者エレミヤを、死なないうちに穴から引き上げなさい」。
38:10 Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from behind thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.
38:11 そこでエベデメレクはその人々を連れて王の家の倉の衣服室に行き、そこから古い布切れや、着ふるした着物を取り、これを穴の中にいるエレミヤのところへ、綱をもってつり降ろした。
38:11 So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.
38:12 そしてエチオピヤびとエベデメレクは、「この布切れや着物を、あなたのわきの下にはさんで、綱に当てなさい」とエレミヤに言った。エレミヤはそのようにした。
38:12 And Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast clouts and rotten rags under yours armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.
38:13 すると彼らは綱をもってエレミヤを穴から引き上げた。そしてエレミヤは監視の庭にとどまった。
38:13 So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
38:14 ゼデキヤ王は人をつかわして預言者エレミヤを主の宮の第三の門に連れてこさせ、王はエレミヤに言った、「あなたに尋ねたいことがある。何事もわたしに隠してはならない」。
38:14 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask you a thing; hide nothing from me.
38:15 エレミヤはゼデキヤに言った、「もしわたしがお話するなら、あなたは必ずわたしを殺されるではありませんか。たといわたしが忠告をしても、あなたはお聞きにならないでしょう」。
38:15 Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto you, will you not surely put me to death? and if I give you counsel, will you not hearken unto me?
38:16 その時ゼデキヤ王は、ひそかにエレミヤに誓って言った、「われわれの魂を造られた主は生きておられる。わたしはあなたを殺さない、またあなたの命を求める者の手に、あなたを渡すこともしない」。
38:16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD lives, that made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men that seek your life.
38:17 そこでエレミヤはゼデキヤに言った、「万軍の神、イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、もしあなたがバビロンの王のつかさたちに降伏するならば、あなたの命は助かり、またこの町は火で焼かれることなく、あなたも、あなたの家の者も生きながらえることができる。
38:17 Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If you will assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then your soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and you shall live, and yours house:
38:18 しかし、もしあなたが出てバビロンの王のつかさたちに降伏しないならば、この町はカルデヤびとの手に渡される。彼らは火でこれを焼く。あなたはその手をのがれることができない」。
38:18 But if you will not go forth to the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape out of their hand.
38:19 ゼデキヤ王はエレミヤに言った、「わたしはカルデヤびとに脱走したユダヤ人を恐れている。カルデヤびとはわたしを彼らの手に渡し、彼らはわたしをはずかしめる」。
38:19 And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.
38:20 エレミヤは言った、「彼らはあなたを渡さないでしょう。どうか、わたしがあなたに告げた主の声に聞き従ってください。そうすれば幸を得、また命が助かります。
38:20 But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver you. Obey, I plead to you, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto you: so it shall be well unto you, and your soul shall live.
38:21 しかし降伏することを拒むならば、主がわたしに示された幻を申しましょう。
38:21 But if you refuse to go forth, this is the word that the LORD has showed me:
38:22 すなわち、ユダの王の家に残っている女たちは、みなバビロンの王のつかさたちの所へ引いて行かれます。その女たちは言うのです、『あなたの親しい友だちがあなたを欺いた、そしてあなたに勝った。今あなたの足は泥に沈んでいるので、彼らはあなたを捨てて去る』。
38:22 And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon's princes, and those women shall say, Your friends have set you on, and have prevailed against you: your feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned away back.
38:23 あなたの妻たちと子供たちは皆カルデヤびとの所へひき出される。あなた自身もその手をのがれることができず、バビロンの王に捕えられる。そしてこの町は火で焼かれるでしょう」。
38:23 So they shall bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans: and you shall not escape out of their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.
38:24 ゼデキヤはエレミヤに言った、「これらの言葉を人に知らせてはならない。そうすればあなたは殺されることはない。
38:24 Then said Zedekiah unto Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and you shall not die.
38:25 わたしがあなたと話をしたことを、つかさたちが聞いて、彼らがあなたの所に来て、『あなたが王に話したこと、王があなたに話したことをわれわれに告げなさい。何事も隠してはならない。われわれはあなたを殺しはしない』と言うならば、
38:25 But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come unto you, and say unto you, Declare unto us now what you have said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put you to death; also what the king said unto you:
38:26 あなたは彼らに、『わたしは王に願って、わたしをヨナタンの家に送り返さず、そこで死ぬことのないようにしてくださいと言った』と答えなさい」。
38:26 Then you shall say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan's house, to die there.
38:27 さて、つかさたちは皆エレミヤのところへ来て尋ねたが、王が彼に教えたように彼らに答えたので、彼らは彼と話すことをやめた。その会話を聞いた者がなかったからである。
38:27 Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
38:28 エレミヤはエルサレムの取られる日まで監視の庭にとどまっていた。
38:28 So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
