33:1 わざわいなるかな、おのれ自ら滅ぼされないのに、人を滅ぼし、だれも欺かないのに人を欺く者よ。あなたが滅ぼすことをやめたとき、あなたは滅ぼされ、あなたが欺くことを終えたとき、あなたは欺かれる。
33:1 Woe to you that spoil, and you were not spoiled; and deal treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with you! when you shall cease to spoil, you shall be spoiled; and when you shall make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with you.
33:2 主よ、われわれをお恵みください、われわれはあなたを待ち望む。朝ごとに、われわれの腕となり、悩みの時に、救となってください。
33:2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for you: be you their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
33:3 鳴りとどろく声によって、もろもろの民は逃げ去り、あなたが立ちあがられると、もろもろの国は散らされる。
33:3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of yourself the nations were scattered.
33:4 青虫が物を集めるようにぶんどり品は集められ、いなごのとびつどうように、人々はその上にとびつどう。
33:4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running back and forth of locusts shall he run upon them.
33:5 主は高くいらせられ、高い所に住まわれる。主はシオンに公平と正義とを満たされる。
33:5 The LORD is exalted; for he dwells on high: he has filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
33:6 また主は救と知恵と知識を豊かにして、あなたの代を堅く立てられる。主を恐れることはその宝である。
33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of your times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
33:7 見よ、勇士たちは外にあって叫び、平和の使者はいたく嘆く。
33:7 Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.
33:8 大路は荒れすたれて、旅びとは絶え、契約は破られ、証人は軽んぜられ、人を顧みることがない。
33:8 The highways lie waste, the travelling man ceases: he has broken the covenant, he has despised the cities, he regards no man.
33:9 地は嘆き衰え、レバノンは恥じて枯れ、シャロンは荒野のようになり、バシャンとカルメルはその葉を落す。
33:9 The earth mourns and languishes: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.
33:10 主は言われる、「今わたしは起きよう、いま立ちあがろう、いま自らを高くしよう。
33:10 Now will I rise, says the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
33:11 あなたがたは、もみがらをはらみ、わらを産む。あなたがたの息は火となって、あなたがたを食いつくす。
33:11 All of you shall conceive chaff, all of you shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.
33:12 もろもろの民は焼かれて石灰のようになり、いばらが切られて火に燃やされたようになる」。
33:12 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
33:13 あなたがた遠くにいる者よ、わたしがおこなったことを聞け。あなたがた近くにいる者よ、わが大能を知れ。
33:13 Hear, all of you that are far off, what I have done; and, all of you that are near, acknowledge my might.
33:14 シオンの罪びとは恐れに満たされ、おののきは神を恐れない者を捕えた。「われわれのうち、だれが／焼きつくす火の中におることができよう。われわれのうち、だれが／とこしえの燃える火の中におることができよう」。
33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
33:15 正しく歩む者、正直に語る者、しえたげて得た利をいやしめる者、手を振って、まいないを取らない者、耳をふさいで血を流す謀略を聞かない者、目を閉じて悪を見ない者、
33:15 He that walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he that despises the gain of oppressions, that shakes his hands from holding of bribes, that stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;
33:16 このような人は高い所に住み、堅い岩はそのとりでとなり、そのパンは与えられ、その水は絶えることがない。
33:16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
33:17 あなたの目は麗しく飾った王を見、遠く広い国を見る。
33:17 Yours eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
33:18 あなたの心はかの恐ろしかった事を思い出す。「数を調べた者はどこにいるか。みつぎを量った者はどこにいるか。やぐらを数えた者はどこにいるか」。
33:18 Yours heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
33:19 あなたはもはや高慢な民を見ない。かの民の言葉はあいまいで、聞きとりがたく、その舌はどもって、悟りがたい。
33:19 You shall not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than you can perceive; of a stammering tongue, that you can not understand.
33:20 定めの祭の町シオンを見よ。あなたの目は平和なすまい、移されることのない幕屋エルサレムを見る。その杭はとこしえに抜かれず、その綱は、ひとすじも断たれることはない。
33:20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: yours eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
33:21 主は威厳をもってかしこにいまし、われわれのために広い川と流れのある所となり、その中には、こぐ舟も入らず、大きな船も過ぎることはない。
33:21 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
33:22 主はわれわれのさばき主、主はわれわれのつかさ、主はわれわれの王であって、われわれを救われる。
33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
33:23 あなたの船綱は解けて、帆柱のもとを結びかためることができず、帆を張ることもできない。その時多くの獲物とぶんどり品は分けられ、足なえまでも獲物を取る。
33:23 Your tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.
33:24 そこに住む者のうちには、「わたしは病気だ」と言う者はなく、そこに住む民はその罪がゆるされる。
33:24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
34:1 もろもろの国よ、近づいて聞け。もろもろの民よ、耳を傾けよ。地とそれに満ちるもの、世界とそれから出るすべてのものよ、聞け。
34:1 Come near, all of you nations, to hear; and hearken, all of you people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come out of it.
34:2 主はすべての国にむかって怒り、そのすべての軍勢にむかって憤り、彼らをことごとく滅ぼし、彼らをわたして、ほふらせられた。
34:2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he has utterly destroyed them, he has delivered them to the slaughter.
34:3 彼らは殺されて投げすてられ、その死体の悪臭は立ちのぼり、山々はその血で溶けて流れる。
34:3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcasses, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
34:4 天の万象は衰え、もろもろの天は巻物のように巻かれ、その万象はぶどうの木から葉の落ちるように、いちじくの木から葉の落ちるように落ちる。
34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
34:5 わたしのつるぎは天において憤りをもって酔った。見よ、これはエドムの上にくだり、わたしが滅びに定めた民の上にくだって、これをさばく。
34:5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
34:6 主のつるぎは血で満ち、脂肪で肥え、小羊とやぎの血、雄羊の腎臓の脂肪で肥えている。主がボズラで犠牲の獣をほふり、エドムの地で大いに殺されたからである。
34:6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
34:7 野牛は彼らと共にほふり場にくだり、子牛は力ある雄牛と共にくだる。その国は血で酔い、その土は脂肪で肥やされる。
34:7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
34:8 主はあだをかえす日をもち、シオンの訴えのために報いられる年を／もたれるからである。
34:8 For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
34:9 エドムのもろもろの川は変って樹脂となり、その土は変って硫黄となり、その地は変って燃える樹脂となって、
34:9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
34:10 夜も昼も消えず、その煙は、とこしえに立ちのぼる。これは世々荒れすたれて、とこしえまでもそこを通る者はない。
34:10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
34:11 たかと、やまあらしとがそこをすみかとし、ふくろうと、からすがそこに住む。主はその上に荒廃をきたらせる測りなわを張り、尊い人々の上に混乱を起す下げ振りをさげられる。
34:11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
34:12 人々はこれを名づけて「国なき所」といい、その君たちは皆うせてなくなる。
34:12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
34:13 そのとりでの上には、いばらが生え、その城には、いらくさと、あざみとが生え、山犬のすみか、だちょうのおる所となる。
34:13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
34:14 野の獣はハイエナと出会い、鬼神はその友を呼び、夜の魔女もそこに降りてきて、休み所を得る。
34:14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
34:15 ふくろうはそこに巣をつくって卵を産み、それをかえして、そのひなを翼の陰に集める。とびもまた、おのおのその連れ合いと共に、そこに集まる。
34:15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.
34:16 あなたがたは主の書をつまびらかに／たずねて、これを読め。これらのものは一つも欠けることなく、また一つもその連れ合いを欠くものはない。これは主の口がこれを命じ、その霊が彼らを集められたからである。
34:16 Seek all of you out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall lack her mate: for my mouth it has commanded, and his spirit it has gathered them.
34:17 主は彼らのためにくじを引き、手ずから測りなわをもって、この地を分け与え、長く彼らに所有させ、世々ここに住まわせられる。
34:17 And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
35:1 荒野と、かわいた地とは楽しみ、さばくは喜びて花咲き、さふらんのように、
35:1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
35:2 さかんに花咲き、かつ喜び楽しみ、かつ歌う。これにレバノンの栄えが与えられ、カルメルおよびシャロンの麗しさが与えられる。彼らは主の栄光を見、われわれの神の麗しさを見る。
35:2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
35:3 あなたがたは弱った手を強くし、よろめくひざを健やかにせよ。
35:3 Strengthen all of you the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
35:4 心おののく者に言え、「強くあれ、恐れてはならない。見よ、あなたがたの神は報復をもって臨み、神の報いをもってこられる。神は来て、あなたがたを救われる」と。
35:4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
35:5 その時、見えない人の目は開かれ、聞えない人の耳は聞えるようになる。
35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
35:6 その時、足の不自由な人は、しかのように飛び走り、口のきけない人の舌は喜び歌う。それは荒野に水がわきいで、さばくに川が流れるからである。
35:6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
35:7 焼けた砂は池となり、かわいた地は水の源となり、山犬の伏したすみかは、葦、よしの茂りあう所となる。
35:7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
35:8 そこに大路があり、その道は聖なる道ととなえられる。汚れた者はこれを通り過ぎることはできない、愚かなる者はそこに迷い入ることはない。
35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the travelling men, though fools, shall not go astray therein.
35:9 そこには、ししはおらず、飢えた獣も、その道にのぼることはなく、その所でこれに会うことはない。ただ、あがなわれた者のみ、そこを歩む。
35:9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
35:10 主にあがなわれた者は帰ってきて、その頭に、とこしえの喜びをいただき、歌うたいつつ、シオンに来る。彼らは楽しみと喜びとを得、悲しみと嘆きとは逃げ去る。
35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
36:1 ヒゼキヤ王の第十四年に、アッスリヤの王セナケリブが上ってきて、ユダのすべての堅固な町々を攻め取った。
36:1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
36:2 アッスリヤの王はラキシからラブシャケをエルサレムにつかわし、大軍を率いてヒゼキヤ王のもとへ行かせた。ラブシャケは布さらしの野へ行く大路に沿う、上の池の水道のかたわらに立った。
36:2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the launderer's field.
36:3 この時ヒルキヤの子である宮内卿エリアキム、書記官セブナおよびアサフの子である史官ヨアが彼の所に出てきた。
36:3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph's son, the recorder.
36:4 ラブシャケは彼らに言った、「ヒゼキヤに言いなさい、『大王アッスリヤの王はこう仰せられる、あなたが頼みとする者は何か。
36:4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say all of you now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein you trust?
36:5 口先だけの言葉が戦争をする計略と力だと考えるのか。あなたは今だれを頼んで、わたしにそむいたのか。
36:5 I say, says you, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?
36:6 見よ、あなたはかの折れかけている葦のつえエジプトを頼みとしているが、それは人が寄りかかるとき、その人の手を刺し通す。エジプトの王パロはすべて寄り頼む者にそのようにするのだ。
36:6 Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
36:7 しかし、あなたがもし「われわれはわれわれの神、主を頼む」とわたしに言うならば、ヒゼキヤがユダとエルサレムに告げて、「あなたがたはこの祭壇の前で礼拝しなければならない」と言って除いたのは、その神の高き所と祭壇ではなかったのか。
36:7 But if you say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, All of you shall worship before this altar?
36:8 さあ、今わたしの主君アッスリヤの王とかけをせよ。もしあなたの方に乗る人があるならば、わたしは馬二千頭を与えよう。
36:8 Now therefore give pledges, I pray you, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you be able on your part to set riders upon them.
36:9 あなたはエジプトを頼み、戦車と騎兵を請い求めているが、わたしの主君の家来のうちの最も小さい一隊長でさえ、どうして撃退することができようか。
36:9 How then will you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
36:10 わたしがこの国を滅ぼすために上ってきたのは、主の許しなしでしたことであろうか。主はわたしに、この国へ攻め上って、これを滅ぼせと言われたのだ』」。
36:10 And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
36:11 その時、エリアキム、セブナおよびヨアはラブシャケに言った、「どうぞ、アラム語でしもべたちに話してください。わたしたちはそれがわかるからです。城壁の上にいる民の聞いているところで、わたしたちにユダヤの言葉で話さないでください」。
36:11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray you, unto your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
36:12 しかしラブシャケは言った、「わたしの主君は、あなたの主君とあなたにだけでなく、城壁の上に座している人々にも、この言葉を告げるために、わたしをつかわされたのではないか。彼らをも、あなたがたと共に自分の糞尿を食い飲みするに至らせるためではないか」。
36:12 But Rabshakeh said, Has my master sent me to your master and to you to speak these words? has he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
36:13 そしてラブシャケは立ちあがり、ユダヤの言葉で大声に呼ばわって言った、「大王、アッスリヤの王の言葉を聞け。
36:13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear all of you the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
36:14 王はこう仰せられる、『あなたがたはヒゼキヤに欺かれてはならない。彼はあなたがたを救い出すことはできない。
36:14 Thus says the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
36:15 ヒゼキヤが、主は必ずわれわれを救い出される。この町はアッスリヤの王の手に陥ることはない、と言っても、あなたがたは主を頼みとしてはならない』。
36:15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
36:16 あなたがたはヒゼキヤの言葉を聞いてはならない。アッスリヤの王はこう仰せられる、『あなたがたは、わたしと和ぼくして、わたしに降服せよ。そうすれば、あなたがたはめいめい自分のぶどうの実を食べ、めいめい自分のいちじくの実を食べ、めいめい自分の井戸の水を飲むことができる。
36:16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus says the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat all of you every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink all of you every one the waters of his own cistern;
36:17 やがて、わたしが来て、あなたがたを一つの国へ連れて行く。それは、あなたがたの国のように穀物とぶどう酒の多い地、パンとぶどう畑の多い地だ。
36:17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
36:18 ヒゼキヤが、主はわれわれを救われる、と言って、あなたがたを惑わすことのないように気をつけよ。もろもろの国の神々のうち、どの神がその国をアッスリヤの王の手から救ったか。
36:18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the LORD will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
36:19 ハマテやアルパデの神々はどこにいるか。セパルワイムの神々はどこにいるか。彼らはサマリヤをわたしの手から救い出したか。
36:19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
36:20 これらの国々のすべての神々のうちに、だれかその国をわたしの手から救い出した者があるか。主がどうしてエルサレムをわたしの手から救い出すことができよう』」。
36:20 Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
36:21 しかし民は黙ってひと言も答えなかった。王が命じて、「彼に答えてはならない」と言っておいたからである。
36:21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
36:22 その時ヒルキヤの子である宮内卿エリアキム、書記官セブナおよびアサフの子である史官ヨアは衣を裂き、ヒゼキヤのもとに来て、ラブシャケの言葉を彼に告げた。
36:22 Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
37:1 ヒゼキヤ王はこれを聞いて、衣を裂き、荒布を身にまとって主の宮に入り、
37:1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
37:2 宮内卿エリアキムと書記官セブナおよび祭司のうちの年長者たちに荒布をまとわせて、アモツの子預言者イザヤのもとへつかわした。
37:2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
37:3 彼らはイザヤに言った、「ヒゼキヤはこう言います、『きょうは悩みと責めと、はずかしめの日です。胎児がまさに生れようとして、これを産み出す力がないのです。
37:3 And they said unto him, Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
37:4 あなたの神、主は、あるいはラブシャケのもろもろの言葉を聞かれたかもしれません。彼はその主君アッスリヤの王につかわされて、生ける神をそしりました。あなたの神、主はその言葉を聞いて、あるいは責められるかもしれません。それゆえ、この残っている者のために祈をささげてください』」。
37:4 It may be the LORD your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: wherefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.
37:5 ヒゼキヤ王の家来たちがイザヤのもとに来たとき、
37:5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
37:6 イザヤは彼らに言った、「あなたがたの主君にこう言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、アッスリヤの王のしもべらが、わたしをそしった言葉を聞いて恐れるには及ばない。
37:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall all of you say unto your master, Thus says the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that you have heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
37:7 見よ、わたしは一つの霊を彼のうちに送って、一つのうわさを聞かせ、彼を自分の国へ帰らせて、その国でつるぎに倒れさせる』」。
37:7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
37:8 ラブシャケは引き返して、アッスリヤの王がリブナを攻めているところへ行った。彼は王がラキシを去ったことを聞いたからである。
37:8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

37:9 And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He has come forth to make war with you. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
37:10 「ユダの王ヒゼキヤにこう言いなさい、『あなたは、エルサレムはアッスリヤの王の手に陥ることはない、と言うあなたの信頼する神に欺かれてはならない。
37:10 Thus shall all of you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God, in whom you trust, deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
37:11 あなたはアッスリヤの王たちが、国々にしたこと、彼らを全く滅ぼしたことを聞いている。どうしてあなたは救われることができようか。
37:11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shall you be delivered?
37:12 わたしの先祖たちはゴザン、ハラン、レゼフおよびテラサルにいたエデンの人々を滅ぼしたが、その国々の神々は彼らを救ったか。
37:12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?

37:13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?

37:14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
37:15 主に祈って言った、
37:15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,
37:16 「ケルビムの上に座しておられるイスラエルの神、万軍の主よ、地のすべての国のうちで、ただあなただけが神でいらせられます。あなたは天と地を造られました。
37:16 O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwell between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: you have made heaven and earth.
37:17 主よ、耳を傾けて聞いてください。主よ、目を開いて見てください。セナケリブが生ける神をそしるために書き送った言葉を聞いてください。
37:17 Incline yours ear, O LORD, and hear; open yours eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which has sent to reproach the living God.
37:18 主よ、まことにアッスリヤの王たちは、もろもろの民とその国々を滅ぼし、
37:18 Truthfully, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,
37:19 またその神々を火に投げ入れました。それらは神ではなく、人の手の造ったもので、木や石だから滅ぼされたのです。
37:19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
37:20 今われわれの神、主よ、どうぞ、われわれを彼の手から救い出してください。そうすれば地の国々は皆あなただけが主でいらせられることを知るようになるでしょう」。
37:20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only.
37:21 その時アモツの子イザヤは人をつかわしてヒゼキヤに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、あなたはアッスリヤの王セナケリブについてわたしに祈ったゆえ、
37:21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
37:22 主が彼について語られた言葉はこうである、『処女であるシオンの娘は／あなたを侮り、あなたをあざける。エルサレムの娘は、あなたのうしろで頭を振る。
37:22 This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
37:23 あなたはだれをそしり、だれをののしったのか。あなたはだれにむかって声をあげ、目を高くあげたのか。イスラエルの聖者にむかってだ。
37:23 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up yours eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
37:24 あなたは、そのしもべらによって／主をそしって言った、「わたしは多くの戦車を率いて山々の頂にのぼり、レバノンの奥へ行き、たけの高い香柏と、最も良いいとすぎを切り倒し、またその果の高地へ行き、その密林にはいった。
37:24 By your servants have you reproached the Lord, and have said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.
37:25 わたしは井戸を掘って水を飲んだ。わたしは足の裏で／エジプトのすべての川を踏みからした」。
37:25 I have dug, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places.
37:26 あなたは聞かなかったか、昔わたしがそれを定めたことを。堅固な町々を、あなたがこわして荒塚とすることも、いにしえの日から、わたしが計画して／今それをきたらせたのだ。
37:26 Have you not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.
37:27 そのうちに住む民は力弱く、おののき恥をいだいて、野の草のように、青菜のようになり、育たずに枯れる屋根の草のようになった。
37:27 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
37:28 わたしは、あなたの座すること、出入りすること、また、わたしにむかって／怒り叫んだことをも知っている。
37:28 But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.
37:29 あなたが、わたしにむかって怒り叫んだことと、あなたの高慢な言葉とがわたしの耳にはいったゆえ、わたしは、あなたの鼻に輪をつけ、あなたの口にくつわをはめて、あなたを、もと来た道へ引きもどす』。
37:29 Because your rage against me, and your tumult, has come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.
37:30 あなたに与えるしるしはこれである。すなわち、ことしは落ち穂から生えた物を食べ、二年目には、またその落ち穂から生えた物を食べ、三年目には種をまき、刈り入れ、ぶどう畑を作ってその実を食べる。
37:30 And this shall be a sign unto you, All of you shall eat this year such as grows of itself; and the second year that which springs of the same: and in the third year sow all of you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
37:31 ユダの家の、のがれて残る者は再び下に根を張り、上に実を結ぶ。
37:31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:
37:32 すなわち残る者はエルサレムから出、のがれる物はシオンの山から出る。万軍の主の熱心がこれをなし遂げられる。
37:32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
37:33 それゆえ、主はアッスリヤの王について、こう仰せられる、『彼はこの町にこない。またここに矢を放たない。また盾をもって、その前にこない。また塁を築いて、これを攻めることはない。
37:33 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.
37:34 彼は来た道から帰って、この町に、はいることはない、と主は言う。
37:34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.
37:35 わたしは自分のため、また、わたしのしもべダビデのために町を守って、これを救おう』」。
37:35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
37:36 主の使が出て、アッスリヤびとの陣営で十八万五千人を撃ち殺した。人々が朝早く起きて見ると、彼らは皆死体となっていた。
37:36 Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and stroke in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
37:37 アッスリヤの王セナケリブは立ち去り、帰っていってニネベにいたが、
37:37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
37:38 その神ニスロクの神殿で礼拝していた時、その子らのアデラン・メレクとシャレゼルがつるぎをもって彼を殺し、ともにアララテの地へ逃げていった。それで、その子エサルハドンが代って王となった。
37:38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons stroke him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his position.
38:1 そのころヒゼキヤは病気になって死にかかっていた。アモツの子預言者イザヤは彼のところに来て言った、「主はこう仰せられます、あなたの家を整えておきなさい。あなたは死にます、生きながらえることはできません」。
38:1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Set yours house in order: for you shall die, and not live.
38:2 そこでヒゼキヤは顔を壁に向けて主に祈って言った、
38:2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
38:3 「ああ主よ、願わくは、わたしが真実と真心とをもって、み前に歩み、あなたの目にかなう事を行ったのを覚えてください」。そしてヒゼキヤはひどく泣いた。
38:3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I plead to you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
38:4 その時主の言葉がイザヤに臨んで言った、
38:4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
38:5 「行って、ヒゼキヤに言いなさい、『あなたの父ダビデの神、主はこう仰せられます、「わたしはあなたの祈を聞いた。あなたの涙を見た。見よ、わたしはあなたのよわいを十五年増そう。
38:5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will add unto your days fifteen years.
38:6 わたしはあなたと、この町とをアッスリヤの王の手から救い、この町を守ろう」。
38:6 And I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
38:7 主が約束されたことを行われることについては、あなたは主からこのしるしを得る。
38:7 And this shall be a sign unto you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he has spoken;
38:8 見よ、わたしはアハズの日時計の上に進んだ日影を十度退かせよう』」。すると日時計の上に進んだ日影が十度退いた。
38:8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
38:9 次の言葉はユダの王ヒゼキヤが病気になって、その病気が直った後、書きしるしたものである。
38:9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:
38:10 わたしは言った、わたしはわが一生のまっ盛りに、去らなければならない。わたしは陰府の門に閉ざされて、わが残りの年を失わなければならない。
38:10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
38:11 わたしは言った、わたしは生ける者の地で、主を見ることなく、世におる人々のうちに、再び人を見ることがない。
38:11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
38:12 わがすまいは抜き去られて／羊飼の天幕のようにわたしを離れる。わたしは、わが命を機織りのように巻いた。彼はわたしを機から切り離す。あなたは朝から夕までの間に、わたしを滅ぼされる。
38:12 Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night will you make an end of me.
38:13 わたしは朝まで叫んだ。主はししのようにわが骨をことごとく砕かれる。あなたは朝から夕までの間に、わたしを滅ぼされる。
38:13 I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night will you make an end of me.
38:14 わたしは、つばめのように、つるのように鳴き、はとのようにうめき、わが目は上を見て衰える。主よ、わたしは、しえたげられています。どうか、わたしの保証人となってください。
38:14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
38:15 しかし、わたしは何を言うことができましょう。主はわたしに言われ、かつ、自らそれをなされたからである。わが魂の苦しみによって、わが眠りはことごとく逃げ去った。
38:15 What shall I say? he has both spoken unto me, and himself has done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
38:16 主よ、これらの事によって人は生きる。わが霊の命もすべてこれらの事による。どうか、わたしをいやし、わたしを生かしてください。
38:16 O LORD, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so will you recover me, and make me to live.
38:17 見よ、わたしが大いなる苦しみにあったのは、わが幸福のためであった。あなたはわが命を引きとめて、滅びの穴をまぬかれさせられた。これは、あなたがわが罪をことごとく、あなたの後に捨てられたからである。
38:17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but you have in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for you have cast all my sins behind your back.
38:18 陰府は、あなたに感謝することはできない。死はあなたをさんびすることはできない。墓にくだる者は、あなたのまことを望むことはできない。
38:18 For the grave cannot praise you, death can not celebrate you: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.
38:19 ただ生ける者、生ける者のみ、きょう、わたしがするように、あなたに感謝する。父はあなたのまことを、その子らに知らせる。
38:19 The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known your truth.
38:20 主はわたしを救われる。われわれは世にあるかぎり、主の家で琴にあわせて、歌をうたおう。
38:20 The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

38:21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.
38:22 ヒゼキヤはまた言った、「わたしが主の家に上ることについて、どんなしるしがありましょうか」。
38:22 Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
39:1 そのころ、バラダンの子であるバビロンの王メロダク・バラダンは手紙と贈り物を持たせて使節をヒゼキヤにつかわした。これはヒゼキヤが病気であったが、直ったことを聞いたからである。
39:1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
39:2 ヒゼキヤは彼らを喜び迎えて、宝物の蔵、金銀、香料、貴重な油および武器倉、ならびにその倉庫にあるすべての物を彼らに見せた。家にある物も、国にある物も、ヒゼキヤが彼らに見せない物は一つもなかった。
39:2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
39:3 時に預言者イザヤはヒゼキヤ王のもとに来て言った、「あの人々は何を言いましたか。どこから来たのですか」。ヒゼキヤは言った、「彼らは遠い国から、すなわちバビロンから来たのです」。
39:3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.
39:4 イザヤは言った、「彼らは、あなたの家で何を見ましたか」。ヒゼキヤは答えて言った、「彼らは、わたしの家にある物を皆見ました。倉庫のうちには、彼らに見せなかった物は一つもありません」。
39:4 Then said he, What have they seen in yours house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
39:5 そこでイザヤはヒゼキヤに言った、「万軍の主の言葉を聞きなさい。
39:5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:
39:6 見よ、すべてあなたの家にある物およびあなたの先祖たちが今日までに積みたくわえた物がバビロンに運び去られる日が来る。何も残るものはない、と主が言われます。
39:6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in yours house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, says the LORD.
39:7 また、あなたの身から出るあなたの子たちも連れ去られて、バビロンの王の宮殿において宦官となるでしょう」。
39:7 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall brought forth, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
39:8 ヒゼキヤはイザヤに言った、「あなたが言われた主の言葉は結構です」。彼は「少なくとも自分が世にある間は太平と安全があるだろう」と思ったからである。
39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

40:1 Comfort all of you, comfort all of you my people, says your God.
40:2 ねんごろにエルサレムに語り、これに呼ばわれ、その服役の期は終り、そのとがはすでにゆるされ、そのもろもろの罪のために二倍の刑罰を／主の手から受けた」。
40:2 Speak all of you comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she has received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
40:3 呼ばわる者の声がする、「荒野に主の道を備え、さばくに、われわれの神のために、大路をまっすぐにせよ。
40:3 The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare all of you the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
40:4 もろもろの谷は高くせられ、もろもろの山と丘とは低くせられ、高底のある地は平らになり、険しい所は平地となる。
40:4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
40:5 こうして主の栄光があらわれ、人は皆ともにこれを見る。これは主の口が語られたのである」。
40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
40:6 声が聞える、「呼ばわれ」。わたしは言った、「なんと呼ばわりましょうか」。「人はみな草だ。その麗しさは、すべて野の花のようだ。
40:6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
40:7 主の息がその上に吹けば、草は枯れ、花はしぼむ。たしかに人は草だ。
40:7 The grass withers, the flower fades: because the spirit of the LORD blows upon it: surely the people is grass.
40:8 草は枯れ、花はしぼむ。しかし、われわれの神の言葉は／とこしえに変ることはない」。
40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
40:9 よきおとずれをシオンに伝える者よ、高い山にのぼれ。よきおとずれをエルサレムに伝える者よ、強く声をあげよ、声をあげて恐れるな。ユダのもろもろの町に言え、「あなたがたの神を見よ」と。
40:9 O Zion, that bring good tidings, get you up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bring good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
40:10 見よ、主なる神は大能をもってこられ、その腕は世を治める。見よ、その報いは主と共にあり、そのはたらきの報いは、そのみ前にある。
40:10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
40:11 主は牧者のようにその群れを養い、そのかいなに小羊をいだき、そのふところに入れて携えゆき、乳を飲ませているものをやさしく導かれる。
40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
40:12 だれが、たなごころをもって海をはかり、指を伸ばして天をはかり、地のちりを枡に盛り、てんびんをもって、もろもろの山をはかり、はかりをもって、もろもろの丘をはかったか。
40:12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
40:13 だれが、主の霊を導き、その相談役となって主を教えたか。
40:13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor has taught him?
40:14 主はだれと相談して悟りを得たか。だれが主に公義の道を教え、知識を教え、悟りの道を示したか。
40:14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding?
40:15 見よ、もろもろの国民は、おけの一しずくのように、はかりの上のちりのように思われる。見よ、主は島々を、ほこりのようにあげられる。
40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he takes up the isles as a very little thing.
40:16 レバノンは、たきぎに足りない、またその獣は、燔祭に足りない。
40:16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
40:17 主のみ前には、もろもろの国民は無きにひとしい。彼らは主によって、無きもののように、むなしいもののように思われる。
40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
40:18 それで、あなたがたは神をだれとくらべ、どんな像と比較しようとするのか。
40:18 To whom then will all of you liken God? or what likeness will all of you compare unto him?
40:19 偶像は細工人が鋳て造り、鍛冶が、金をもって、それをおおい、また、これがために銀の鎖を造る。
40:19 The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains.
40:20 貧しい者は、ささげ物として／朽ちることのない木を選び、巧みな細工人を求めて、動くことのない像を立たせる。
40:20 He that is so impoverished that he has no oblation chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
40:21 あなたがたは知らなかったか。あなたがたは聞かなかったか。初めから、あなたがたに伝えられなかったか。地の基をおいた時から、あなたがたは悟らなかったか。
40:21 Have all of you not known? have all of you not heard? has it not been told you from the beginning? have all of you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
40:22 主は地球のはるか上に座して、地に住む者をいなごのように見られる。主は天を幕のようにひろげ、これを住むべき天幕のように張り、
40:22 It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:
40:23 また、もろもろの君を無きものとせられ、地のつかさたちを、むなしくされる。
40:23 That brings the princes to nothing; he makes the judges of the earth as vanity.
40:24 彼らは、かろうじて植えられ、かろうじてまかれ、その幹がかろうじて地に根をおろしたとき、神がその上を吹かれると、彼らは枯れて、わらのように、つむじ風にまき去られる。
40:24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
40:25 聖者は言われる、「それで、あなたがたは、わたしをだれにくらべ、わたしは、だれにひとしいというのか」。
40:25 To whom then will all of you liken me, or shall I be equal? says the Holy One.
40:26 目を高くあげて、だれが、これらのものを創造したかを見よ。主は数をしらべて万軍をひきいだし、おのおのをその名で呼ばれる。その勢いの大いなるにより、またその力の強きがゆえに、一つも欠けることはない。
40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, that brings out their host by number: he calls them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one fails.
40:27 ヤコブよ、何ゆえあなたは、「わが道は主に隠れている」と言うか。イスラエルよ、何ゆえあなたは、「わが訴えはわが神に顧みられない」と言うか。
40:27 Why says you, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
40:28 あなたは知らなかったか、あなたは聞かなかったか。主はとこしえの神、地の果の創造者であって、弱ることなく、また疲れることなく、その知恵ははかりがたい。
40:28 Have you not known? have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
40:29 弱った者には力を与え、勢いのない者には強さを増し加えられる。
40:29 He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.
40:30 年若い者も弱り、かつ疲れ、壮年の者も疲れはてて倒れる。
40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
40:31 しかし主を待ち望む者は新たなる力を得、わしのように翼をはって、のぼることができる。走っても疲れることなく、歩いても弱ることはない。
40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
41:1 海沿いの国々よ、静かにして、わたしに聞け。もろもろの民よ、力を新たにし、近づいて語れ。われわれは共にさばきの座に近づこう。
41:1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
41:2 だれが東から人を起したか。彼はその行く所で勝利をもって迎えられ、もろもろの国を征服し、もろもろの王を足の下に踏みつけ、そのつるぎをもって彼らをちりのようにし、その弓をもって吹き去られる、わらのようにする。
41:2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.
41:3 彼はこれらの者を追って／その足のまだ踏んだことのない道を、安らかに過ぎて行く。
41:3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
41:4 だれがこの事を行ったか、なしたか。だれが初めから世々の人々を呼び出したか。主なるわたしは初めであって、また終りと共にあり、わたしがそれだ。
41:4 Who has wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
41:5 海沿いの国々は見て恐れ、地の果は、おののき、近づいて来た。
41:5 The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
41:6 彼らはおのおのその隣を助け、その兄弟たちに言う、「勇気を出せよ」と。
41:6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
41:7 細工人は鍛冶を励まし、鎚をもって平らかにする者は金敷きを打つ者に、はんだづけについて言う、「それは良い」と。また、くぎをもってそれを堅くし、動くことのないようにする。
41:7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smoothes with the hammer him that stroke the anvil, saying, It is ready for the soldering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
41:8 しかし、わがしもべイスラエルよ、わたしの選んだヤコブ、わが友アブラハムの子孫よ、
41:8 But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
41:9 わたしは地の果から、あなたを連れてき、地のすみずみから、あなたを召して、あなたに言った、「あなたは、わたしのしもべ、わたしは、あなたを選んで捨てなかった」と。
41:9 You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called you from the chief men thereof, and said unto you, You are my servant; I have chosen you, and not cast you away.
41:10 恐れてはならない、わたしはあなたと共にいる。驚いてはならない、わたしはあなたの神である。わたしはあなたを強くし、あなたを助け、わが勝利の右の手をもって、あなたをささえる。
41:10 Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
41:11 見よ、あなたにむかって怒る者はみな、はじて、あわてふためき、あなたと争う者は滅びて無に帰する。
41:11 Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with you shall perish.
41:12 あなたは、あなたと争う者を尋ねても見いださず、あなたと戦う者は全く消えうせる。
41:12 You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even them that contended with you: they that war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nothing.
41:13 あなたの神、主なるわたしは／あなたの右の手をとってあなたに言う、「恐れてはならない、わたしはあなたを助ける」。
41:13 For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying unto you, Fear not; I will help you.
41:14 主は言われる、「虫にひとしいヤコブよ、イスラエルの人々よ、恐れてはならない。わたしはあなたを助ける。あなたをあがなう者はイスラエルの聖者である。
41:14 Fear not, you worm Jacob, and all of you men of Israel; I will help you, says the LORD, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
41:15 見よ、わたしはあなたを鋭い歯のある／新しい打穀機とする。あなたは山を打って、これを粉々にし、丘をもみがらのようにする。
41:15 Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: you shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff.
41:16 あなたがあおげば風はこれを巻き去り、つむじ風がこれを吹き散らす。あなたは主によって喜び／イスラエルの聖者によって誇る。
41:16 You shall fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and you shall rejoice in the LORD, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.
41:17 貧しい者と乏しい者とは水を求めても、水がなく、その舌がかわいて焼けているとき、主なるわたしは彼らに答える、イスラエルの神なるわたしは／彼らを捨てることがない。
41:17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
41:18 わたしは裸の山に川を開き、谷の中に泉をいだし、荒野を池となし、かわいた地を水の源とする。
41:18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
41:19 わたしは荒野に香柏、アカシヤ、ミルトスおよびオリブの木を植え、さばくに、いとすぎ、すずかけ、からまつをともに置く。
41:19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
41:20 人々はこれを見て、主のみ手がこれをなし、イスラエルの聖者がこれを創造されたことを知り、かつ、よく考えて共に悟る」。
41:20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
41:21 主は言われる、「あなたがたの訴えを出せ」と。ヤコブの王は言われる、「あなたがたの証拠を持ってこい。
41:21 Produce your cause, says the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, says the King of Jacob.
41:22 それを持ってきて、起るべき事をわれわれに告げよ。さきの事どもの何であるかを告げよ。われわれはよく考えて、その結末を知ろう。あるいはきたるべき事をわれわれに聞かせよ。
41:22 Let them bring them forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things in order to come.
41:23 この後きたるべき事をわれわれに告げよ。われわれはあなたがたが神であることを／知るであろう。幸をくだし、あるいは災をくだせ。われわれは驚いて肝をつぶすであろう。
41:23 Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that all of you are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
41:24 見よ、あなたがたは無きものである。あなたがたのわざはむなしい。あなたがたを選ぶ者は憎むべき者である」。
41:24 Behold, all of you are of nothing, and your work of nothing: an abomination is he that chooses you.
41:25 わたしはひとりを起して北からこさせ、わが名を呼ぶ者を東からこさせる。彼はもろもろのつかさを踏みつけてしっくいのようにし、陶器師が粘土を踏むようにする。
41:25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon mortar, and as the potter treads clay.
41:26 だれか、初めからこの事を／われわれに告げ知らせたか。だれか、あらかじめわれわれに告げて、「彼は正しい」と言わせたか。ひとりもこの事を告げた者はない。ひとりも聞かせた者はない。ひとりもあなたがたの言葉を聞いた者はない。
41:26 Who has declared from the beginning, that we may know? and in time past, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that shows, yea, there is none that declares, yea, there is none that hears your words.
41:27 わたしははじめてこれをシオンに告げた。わたしは、よきおとずれを伝える者を／エルサレムに与える。
41:27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that brings good tidings.
41:28 しかし、わたしが見ると、ひとりもない。彼らのなかには、わたしが尋ねても／答えうる助言者はひとりもない。
41:28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
41:29 見よ、彼らはみな人を惑わす者であって、そのわざは無きもの、その鋳た像はむなしき風である。
41:29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
42:1 わたしの支持するわがしもべ、わたしの喜ぶわが選び人を見よ。わたしはわが霊を彼に与えた。彼はもろもろの国びとに道をしめす。
42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
42:2 彼は叫ぶことなく、声をあげることなく、その声をちまたに聞えさせず、
42:2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
42:3 また傷ついた葦を折ることなく、ほのぐらい灯心を消すことなく、真実をもって道をしめす。
42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
42:4 彼は衰えず、落胆せず、ついに道を地に確立する。海沿いの国々はその教を待ち望む。
42:4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
42:5 天を創造してこれをのべ、地とそれに生ずるものをひらき、その上の民に息を与え、その中を歩む者に霊を与えられる／主なる神はこう言われる、
42:5 Thus says God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; he that gives breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
42:6 「主なるわたしは正義をもってあなたを召した。わたしはあなたの手をとり、あなたを守った。わたしはあなたを民の契約とし、もろもろの国びとの光として与え、
42:6 I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold yours hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
42:7 盲人の目を開き、囚人を地下の獄屋から出し、暗きに座する者を獄屋から出させる。
42:7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
42:8 わたしは主である、これがわたしの名である。わたしはわが栄光をほかの者に与えない。また、わが誉を刻んだ像に与えない。
42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
42:9 見よ、さきに預言した事は起った。わたしは新しい事を告げよう。その事がまだ起らない前に、わたしはまず、あなたがたに知らせよう」。
42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
42:10 主にむかって新しき歌をうたえ。地の果から主をほめたたえよ。海とその中に満ちるもの、海沿いの国々とそれに住む者とは鳴りどよめ。
42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, all of you that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
42:11 荒野とその中のもろもろの町と、ケダルびとの住むもろもろの村里は声をあげよ。セラの民は喜びうたえ。山の頂から呼ばわり叫べ。
42:11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar does inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
42:12 栄光を主に帰し、その誉を海沿いの国々で語り告げよ。
42:12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
42:13 主は勇士のように出て行き、いくさ人のように熱心を起し、ときの声をあげて呼ばわり、その敵にむかって大能をあらわされる。
42:13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
42:14 わたしは久しく声を出さず、黙して、おのれをおさえていた。今わたしは子を産もうとする女のように叫ぶ。わたしの息は切れ、かつあえぐ。
42:14 I have long time held my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
42:15 わたしは山と丘とを荒し、すべての草を枯らし、もろもろの川を島とし、もろもろの池をからす。
42:15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
42:16 わたしは目しいを／彼らのまだ知らない大路に行かせ、まだ知らない道に導き、暗きをその前に光とし、高低のある所を平らにする。わたしはこれらの事をおこなって彼らを捨てない。
42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
42:17 刻んだ偶像に頼み、鋳た偶像にむかって／「あなたがたは、われわれの神である」と言う者は／退けられて、大いに恥をかく。
42:17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, All of you are our gods.
42:18 耳しいよ、聞け。目しいよ、目を注いで見よ。
42:18 Hear, all of you deaf; and look, all of you blind, that all of you may see.
42:19 だれか、わがしもべのほかに目しいがあるか。だれか、わがつかわす使者のような耳しいがあるか。だれか、わが献身者のような目しいがあるか。だれか、主のしもべのような目しいがあるか。
42:19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD's servant?
42:20 彼は多くの事を見ても認めず、耳を開いても聞かない。
42:20 Seeing many things, but you observe not; opening the ears, but he hears not.
42:21 主はおのれの義のために、その教を大いなるものとし、かつ光栄あるものとすることを喜ばれた。
42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
42:22 ところが、この民はかすめられ、奪われて、みな穴の中に捕われ、獄屋の中に閉じこめられた。彼らはかすめられても助ける者がなく、物を奪われても「もどせ」と言う者もない。
42:22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivers; for a spoil, and none says, Restore.
42:23 あなたがたのうち、だれがこの事に耳を傾けるだろうか、だれが心をもちいて／後のためにこれを聞くだろうか。
42:23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
42:24 ヤコブを奪わせた者はだれか。かすめる者にイスラエルをわたした者はだれか。これは主ではないか。われわれは主にむかって罪を犯し、その道に歩むことを好まず、またその教に従うことを好まなかった。
42:24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
42:25 それゆえ、主は激しい怒りと、猛烈な戦いを彼らに臨ませられた。それが火のように周囲に燃えても、彼らは悟らず、彼らを焼いても、心にとめなかった。
42:25 Therefore he has poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it has set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
43:1 ヤコブよ、あなたを創造された主はこう言われる。イスラエルよ、あなたを造られた主はいまこう言われる、「恐れるな、わたしはあなたをあがなった。わたしはあなたの名を呼んだ、あなたはわたしのものだ。
43:1 But now thus says the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.
43:2 あなたが水の中を過ぎるとき、わたしはあなたと共におる。川の中を過ぎるとき、水はあなたの上にあふれることがない。あなたが火の中を行くとき、焼かれることもなく、炎もあなたに燃えつくことがない。
43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you.
43:3 わたしはあなたの神、主である、イスラエルの聖者、あなたの救主である。わたしはエジプトを与えて／あなたのあがないしろとし、エチオピヤとセバとをあなたの代りとする。
43:3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour: I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you.
43:4 あなたはわが目に尊く、重んぜられるもの、わたしはあなたを愛するがゆえに、あなたの代りに人を与え、あなたの命の代りに民を与える。
43:4 Since you were precious in my sight, you have been honourable, and I have loved you: therefore will I give men for you, and people for your life.
43:5 恐れるな、わたしはあなたと共におる。わたしは、あなたの子孫を東からこさせ、西からあなたを集める。
43:5 Fear not: for I am with you: I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west;
43:6 わたしは北にむかって『ゆるせ』と言い、南にむかって『留めるな』と言う。わが子らを遠くからこさせ、わが娘らを地の果からこさせよ。
43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
43:7 すべてわが名をもってとなえられる者をこさせよ。わたしは彼らをわが栄光のために創造し、これを造り、これを仕立てた」。
43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
43:8 目があっても目しいのような民、耳があっても耳しいのような民を連れ出せ。
43:8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
43:9 国々はみな相つどい、もろもろの民は集まれ。彼らのうち、だれがこの事を告げ、さきの事どもを、われわれに聞かせることができるか。その証人を出して、おのれの正しい事を証明させ、それを聞いて「これは真実だ」と言わせよ。
43:9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
43:10 主は言われる、「あなたがたはわが証人、わたしが選んだわがしもべである。それゆえ、あなたがたは知って、わたしを信じ、わたしが主であることを悟ることができる。わたしより前に造られた神はなく、わたしより後にもない。
43:10 All of you are my witnesses, says the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that all of you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
43:11 ただわたしのみ主である。わたしのほかに救う者はいない。
43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
43:12 わたしはさきに告げ、かつ救い、かつ聞かせた。あなたがたのうちには、ほかの神はなかった。あなたがたはわが証人である」と主は言われる。
43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have showed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore all of you are my witnesses, says the LORD, that I am God.
43:13 「わたしは神である、今より後もわたしは主である。わが手から救い出しうる者はない。わたしがおこなえば、だれが、これをとどめることができよう」。
43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
43:14 あなたがたをあがなう者、イスラエルの聖者、主はこう言われる、「あなたがたのために、わたしは人をバビロンにつかわし、すべての貫の木をこわし、カルデヤびとの喜びの声を嘆きに変らせる。
43:14 Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
43:15 わたしは主、あなたがたの聖者、イスラエルの創造者、あなたがたの王である」。
43:15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
43:16 海のなかに大路を設け、大いなる水の中に道をつくり、
43:16 Thus says the LORD, which makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
43:17 戦車および馬、軍勢および兵士を出てこさせ、これを倒して起きることができないようにし、絶え滅ぼして、灯心の消えうせるようにされる／主はこう言われる、
43:17 Which brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.
43:18 「あなたがたは、さきの事を思い出してはならない、また、いにしえのことを考えてはならない。
43:18 Remember all of you not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
43:19 見よ、わたしは新しい事をなす。やがてそれは起る、あなたがたはそれを知らないのか。わたしは荒野に道を設け、さばくに川を流れさせる。
43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall all of you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
43:20 野の獣はわたしをあがめ、山犬および、だちょうもわたしをあがめる。わたしが荒野に水をいだし、さばくに川を流れさせて、わたしの選んだ民に飲ませるからだ。
43:20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
43:21 この民は、わが誉を述べさせるために／わたしが自分のために造ったものである。
43:21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.
43:22 ところがヤコブよ、あなたはわたしを呼ばなかった。イスラエルよ、あなたはわたしをうとんじた。
43:22 But you have not called upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel.
43:23 あなたは燔祭の羊をわたしに持ってこなかった。また犠牲をもってわたしをあがめなかった。わたしは供え物の重荷をあなたに負わせなかった。また乳香をもってあなたを煩わさなかった。
43:23 You have not brought me the small cattle of your burnt offerings; neither have you honoured me with your sacrifices. I have not caused you to serve with an offering, nor wearied you with incense.
43:24 あなたは金を出して、わたしのために菖蒲を買わず、犠牲の脂肪を供えて、わたしを飽かせず、かえって、あなたの罪の重荷をわたしに負わせ、あなたの不義をもって、わたしを煩わせた。
43:24 You have bought me no sweet cane with money, neither have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices: but you have made me to serve with your sins, you have wearied me with yours iniquities.
43:25 わたしこそ、わたし自身のために／あなたのとがを消す者である。わたしは、あなたの罪を心にとめない。
43:25 I, even I, am he that blots out your transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember your sins.
43:26 あなたは、自分の正しいことを証明するために／自分のことを述べて、わたしに思い出させよ。われわれは共に論じよう。
43:26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare you, that you may be justified.
43:27 あなたの遠い先祖は罪を犯し、あなたの仲保者らはわたしにそむいた。
43:27 Your first father has sinned, and your teachers have transgressed against me.
43:28 それゆえ、わたしは聖所の君たちを汚し、ヤコブを全き滅びにわたし、イスラエルをののしらしめた。
43:28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
44:1 しかし、わがしもべヤコブよ、わたしが選んだイスラエルよ、いま聞け。
44:1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
44:2 あなたを造り、あなたを胎内に形造り、あなたを助ける主はこう言われる、『わがしもべヤコブよ、わたしが選んだエシュルンよ、恐れるな。
44:2 Thus says the LORD that made you, and formed you from the womb, which will help you; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and you, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
44:3 わたしは、かわいた地に水を注ぎ、干からびた地に流れをそそぎ、わが霊をあなたの子らにそそぎ、わが恵みをあなたの子孫に与えるからである。
44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon your seed, and my blessing upon yours offspring:
44:4 こうして、彼らは水の中の草のように、流れのほとりの柳のように、生え育つ。
44:4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
44:5 ある人は「わたしは主のものである」と言い、ある人はヤコブの名をもって自分を呼び、またある人は「主のものである」と手にしるして、イスラエルの名をもって自分を呼ぶ』」。
44:5 One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
44:6 主、イスラエルの王、イスラエルをあがなう者、万軍の主はこう言われる、「わたしは初めであり、わたしは終りである。わたしのほかに神はない。
44:6 Thus says the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
44:7 だれかわたしに等しい者があるか。その者はそれを示し、またそれを告げ、わが前に言いつらねよ。だれが、昔から、きたるべき事を聞かせたか。その者はやがて成るべき事をわれわれに告げよ。
44:7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them.
44:8 恐れてはならない、またおののいてはならない。わたしはこの事を昔から、あなたがたに聞かせなかったか、また告げなかったか。あなたがたはわが証人である。わたしのほかに神があるか。わたしのほかに岩はない。わたしはそのあることを知らない」。
44:8 Fear all of you not, neither be afraid: have not I told you from that time, and have declared it? all of you are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
44:9 偶像を造る者は皆むなしく、彼らの喜ぶところのものは、なんの役にも立たない。その信者は見ることもなく、また知ることもない。ゆえに彼らは恥を受ける。
44:9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
44:10 だれが神を造り、またなんの役にも立たない偶像を鋳たか。
44:10 Who has formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
44:11 見よ、その仲間は皆恥を受ける。その細工人らは人間にすぎない。彼らが皆集まって立つとき、恐れて共に恥じる。
44:11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
44:12 鉄の細工人はこれを造るのに炭の火をもって細工し、鎚をもってこれを造り、強い腕をもってこれを鍛える。彼が飢えれば力は衰え、水を飲まなければ疲れはてる。
44:12 The smith with the tongs both works in the coals, and fashions it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength fails: he drinks no water, and is faint.
44:13 木の細工人は線を引き、鉛筆でえがき、かんなで削り、コンパスでえがき、それを人の美しい姿にしたがって人の形に造り、家の中に安置する。
44:13 The carpenter stretches out his rule; he marks it out with a line; he fits it with planes, and he marks it out with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
44:14 彼は香柏を切り倒し、あるいはかしの木、あるいはかしわの木を選んで、それを林の木の中で強く育てる。あるいは香柏を植え、雨にそれを育てさせる。
44:14 He hews him down cedars, and takes the cypress and the oak, which he strengthens for himself among the trees of the forest: he plants an ash, and the rain does nourish it.
44:15 こうして人はその一部をとって、たきぎとし、これをもって身を暖め、またこれを燃やしてパンを焼き、また他の一部を神に造って拝み、刻んだ像に造ってその前にひれ伏す。
44:15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindles it, and bakes bread; yea, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down thereto.
44:16 その半ばは火に燃やし、その半ばで肉を煮て食べ、あるいは肉をあぶって食べ飽き、また身を暖めて言う、「ああ、暖まった、熱くなった」と。
44:16 He burns part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eats flesh; he roasts roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warms himself, and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
44:17 そしてその余りをもって神を造って偶像とし、その前にひれ伏して拝み、これに祈って、「あなたはわが神だ、わたしを救え」と言う。
44:17 And the residue thereof he makes a god, even his graven image: he falls down unto it, and worships it, and prays unto it, and says, Deliver me; for you are my god.
44:18 これらの人は知ることがなく、また悟ることがない。その目はふさがれて見ることができず、その心は鈍くなって悟ることができない。
44:18 They have not known nor understood: for he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
44:19 その心のうちに思うことをせず、また知識がなく、悟りがないために、「わたしはその半ばを火に燃やし、またその炭火の上でパンを焼き、肉をあぶって食べ、その残りの木をもって憎むべきものを造るのか。木のはしくれの前にひれ伏すのか」と言う者もない。
44:19 And none considers in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
44:20 彼は灰を食い、迷った心に惑わされて、おのれを救うことができず、また「わが右の手に偽りがあるではないか」と言わない。
44:20 He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
44:21 ヤコブよ、イスラエルよ、これらの事を心にとめよ。あなたはわがしもべだから。わたしはあなたを造った、あなたはわがしもべだ。イスラエルよ、わたしはあなたを忘れない。
44:21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for you are my servant: I have formed you; you are my servant: O Israel, you shall not be forgotten of me.
44:22 わたしはあなたのとがを雲のように吹き払い、あなたの罪を霧のように消した。わたしに立ち返れ、わたしはあなたをあがなったから。
44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed you.
44:23 天よ、歌え、主がこの事をなされたから。地の深き所よ、呼ばわれ。もろもろの山よ、林およびその中のもろもろの木よ、声を放って歌え。主はヤコブをあがない、イスラエルのうちに栄光をあらわされたから。
44:23 Sing, O all of you heavens; for the LORD has done it: shout, all of you lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, all of you mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
44:24 あなたをあがない、あなたを胎内に造られた主はこう言われる、「わたしは主である。わたしはよろずの物を造り、ただわたしだけが天をのべ、地をひらき、――だれがわたしと共にいたか――
44:24 Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, and he that formed you from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretches forth the heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself;
44:25 偽る物のしるしをむなしくし、占う者を狂わせ、賢い者をうしろに退けて、その知識を愚かにする。
44:25 That frustrates the tokens of the liars, and makes diviners mad; that turns wise men backward, and makes their knowledge foolish;
44:26 わたしは、わがしもべの言葉を遂げさせ、わが使の計りごとを成らせ、エルサレムについては、『これは民の住む所となる』と言い、ユダのもろもろの町については、『ふたたび建てられる、わたしはその荒れ跡を興そう』と言い、
44:26 That confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; that says to Jerusalem, You shall be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, All of you shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
44:27 また淵については、『かわけ、わたしは／あなたのもろもろの川を干す』と言い、
44:27 That says to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up your rivers:
44:28 またクロスについては、『彼はわが牧者、わが目的をことごとくなし遂げる』と言い、エルサレムについては、『ふたたび建てられる』と言い、神殿については、『あなたの基がすえられる』と言う」。
44:28 That says of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, You shall be built; and to the temple, Your foundation shall be laid.
45:1 わたしはわが受膏者クロスの／右の手をとって、もろもろの国をその前に従わせ、もろもろの王の腰を解き、とびらをその前に開かせて、門を閉じさせない、と言われる主は／その受膏者クロスにこう言われる、
45:1 Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
45:2 「わたしはあなたの前に行って、もろもろの山を平らにし、青銅のとびらをこわし、鉄の貫の木を断ち切り、
45:2 I will go before you, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in two the bars of iron:
45:3 あなたに、暗い所にある財宝と、ひそかな所に隠した宝物とを与えて、わたしは主、あなたの名を呼んだ／イスラエルの神であることをあなたに知らせよう。
45:3 And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, which call you by your name, am the God of Israel.
45:4 わがしもべヤコブのために、わたしの選んだイスラエルのために、わたしはあなたの名を呼んだ。あなたがわたしを知らなくても、わたしはあなたに名を与えた。
45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me.
45:5 わたしは主である。わたしのほかに神はない、ひとりもない。あなたがわたしを知らなくても、わたしはあなたを強くする。
45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded you, though you have not known me:
45:6 これは日の出る方から、また西の方から、人々がわたしのほかに神のないことを／知るようになるためである。わたしは主である、わたしのほかに神はない。
45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
45:7 わたしは光をつくり、また暗きを創造し、繁栄をつくり、またわざわいを創造する。わたしは主である、すべてこれらの事をなす者である。
45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
45:8 天よ、上より水を注げ、雲は義を降らせよ。地は開けて救を生じ、また義をも、生えさせよ。主なるわたしはこれを創造した。
45:8 Drop down, all of you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
45:9 陶器が陶器師と争うように、おのれを造った者と争う者はわざわいだ。粘土は陶器師にむかって／『あなたは何を造るか』と言い、あるいは『あなたの造った物には手がない』／と言うだろうか。
45:9 Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What make you? or your work, He has no hands?
45:10 父にむかって／『あなたは、なぜ子をもうけるのか』と言い、あるいは女にむかって／『あなたは、なぜ産みの苦しみをするのか』と／言う者はわざわいだ」。
45:10 Woe unto him that says unto his father, What brought forth you? or to the woman, What have you brought forth?
45:11 イスラエルの聖者、イスラエルを造られた主はこう言われる、「あなたがたは、わが子らについてわたしに問い、またわが手のわざについてわたしに命ずるのか。
45:11 Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command all of you me.
45:12 わたしは地を造って、その上に人を創造した。わたしは手をもって天をのべ、その万軍を指揮した。
45:12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
45:13 わたしは義をもってクロスを起した。わたしは彼のすべての道をまっすぐにしよう。彼はわが町を建て、わが捕囚を価のためでなく、また報いのためでもなく解き放つ」と／万軍の主は言われる。
45:13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, says the LORD of hosts.
45:14 主はこう言われる、「エジプトの富と、エチオピヤの商品と、たけの高いセバびととは／あなたに来て、あなたのものとなり、あなたに従い、彼らは鎖につながれて来て、あなたの前にひれ伏し、あなたに願って言う、『神はただあなたと共にいまし、このほかに神はなく、ひとりもない』」。
45:14 Thus says the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto you, and they shall be yours: they shall come after you; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto you, they shall make supplication unto you, saying, Surely God is in you; and there is none else, there is no God.
45:15 イスラエルの神、救主よ、まことに、あなたは／ご自分を隠しておられる神である。
45:15 Verily you are a God that hide yourself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
45:16 偶像を造る者は皆恥を負い、はずかしめを受け、ともに、あわてふためいて退く。
45:16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.
45:17 しかし、イスラエルは主に救われて、とこしえの救を得る。あなたがたは世々かぎりなく、恥を負わず、はずかしめを受けない。
45:17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: all of you shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
45:18 天を創造された主、すなわち神であって／また地をも造り成し、これを堅くし、いたずらにこれを創造されず、これを人のすみかに造られた主はこう言われる、「わたしは主である、わたしのほかに神はない。
45:18 For thus says the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he has established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
45:19 わたしは隠れたところ、地の暗い所で語らず、ヤコブの子孫に／『わたしを尋ねるのはむだだ』と言わなかった。主なるわたしは正しい事を語り、まっすぐな事を告げる。
45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek all of you me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
45:20 もろもろの国からのがれてきた者よ、集まってきて、共に近寄れ。木像をにない、救うことのできない神に祈る者は無知である。
45:20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, all of you that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
45:21 あなたがたの言い分を持ってきて述べよ。また共に相談せよ。この事をだれがいにしえから示したか。だれが昔から告げたか。わたし、すなわち主ではなかったか。わたしのほかに神はない。わたしは義なる神、救主であって、わたしのほかに神はない。
45:21 Tell all of you, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who has declared this from ancient time? who has told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
45:22 地の果なるもろもろの人よ、わたしを仰ぎのぞめ、そうすれば救われる。わたしは神であって、ほかに神はないからだ。
45:22 Look unto me, and be all of you saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
45:23 わたしは自分をさして誓った、わたしの口から出た正しい言葉は帰ることがない、『すべてのひざはわが前にかがみ、すべての舌は誓いをたてる』。
45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
45:24 人はわたしについて言う、『正義と力とは主にのみある』と。人々は主にきたり、主にむかって怒る者は皆恥を受ける。
45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
45:25 しかしイスラエルの子孫は／皆主によって勝ち誇ることができる」。
45:25 In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
46:1 ベルは伏し、ネボはかがみ、彼らの像は獣と家畜との上にある。あなたがたが持ち歩いたものは荷となり、疲れた獣の重荷となった。
46:1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaded; they are a burden to the weary beast.
46:2 彼らはかがみ、彼らは共に伏し、重荷となった者を救うことができず／かえって、自分は捕われて行く。
46:2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
46:3 「ヤコブの家よ、イスラエルの家の残ったすべての者よ、生れ出た時から、わたしに負われ、胎を出た時から、わたしに持ち運ばれた者よ、わたしに聞け。
46:3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:
46:4 わたしはあなたがたの年老いるまで変らず、白髪となるまで、あなたがたを持ち運ぶ。わたしは造ったゆえ、必ず負い、持ち運び、かつ救う。
46:4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
46:5 あなたがたは、わたしをだれにたぐい、だれと等しくし、だれにくらべ、かつなぞらえようとするのか。
46:5 To whom will all of you liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
46:6 彼らは袋からこがねを注ぎ出し、はかりをもって、しろがねをはかり、金細工人を雇って、それを神に造らせ、これにひれ伏して拝む。
46:6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
46:7 彼らはこれをもたげて肩に載せ、持って行って、その所に置き、そこに立たせる。これはその所から動くことができない。人がこれに呼ばわっても答えることができない。また彼をその悩みから救うことができない。
46:7 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he stands; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
46:8 あなたがたはこの事をおぼえ、よく考えよ。そむける者よ、この事を心にとめよ、
46:8 Remember this, and show yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O all of you transgressors.
46:9 いにしえよりこのかたの事をおぼえよ。わたしは神である、わたしのほかに神はない。わたしは神である、わたしと等しい者はない。
46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
46:10 わたしは終りの事を初めから告げ、まだなされない事を昔から告げて言う、『わたしの計りごとは必ず成り、わが目的をことごとくなし遂げる』と。
46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
46:11 わたしは東から猛禽を招き、遠い国からわが計りごとを行う人を招く。わたしはこの事を語ったゆえ、必ずこさせる。わたしはこの事をはかったゆえ、必ず行う。
46:11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
46:12 心をかたくなにして、救に遠い者よ、わたしに聞け。
46:12 Hearken unto me, all of you stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:
46:13 わたしはわが救を近づかせるゆえ、その来ることは遠くない。わが救はおそくない。わたしは救をシオンに与え、わが栄光をイスラエルに与える」。
46:13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
