39:1 さてヨセフは連れられてエジプトに下ったが、パロの役人で侍衛長であったエジプトびとポテパルは、彼をそこに連れ下ったイシマエルびとらの手から買い取った。
39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
39:2 主がヨセフと共におられたので、彼は幸運な者となり、その主人エジプトびとの家におった。
39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
39:3 その主人は主が彼とともにおられることと、主が彼の手のすることをすべて栄えさせられるのを見た。
39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
39:4 そこで、ヨセフは彼の前に恵みを得、そのそば近く仕えた。彼はヨセフに家をつかさどらせ、持ち物をみな彼の手にゆだねた。
39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
39:5 彼がヨセフに家とすべての持ち物をつかさどらせた時から、主はヨセフのゆえにそのエジプトびとの家を恵まれたので、主の恵みは彼の家と畑とにあるすべての持ち物に及んだ。
39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
39:6 そこで彼は持ち物をみなヨセフの手にゆだねて、自分が食べる物のほかは、何をも顧みなかった。さてヨセフは姿がよく、顔が美しかった。
39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
39:7 これらの事の後、主人の妻はヨセフに目をつけて言った、「わたしと寝なさい」。
39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
39:8 ヨセフは拒んで、主人の妻に言った、「御主人はわたしがいるので家の中の何をも顧みず、その持ち物をみなわたしの手にゆだねられました。
39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master knows not what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand;
39:9 この家にはわたしよりも大いなる者はありません。また御主人はあなたを除いては、何をもわたしに禁じられませんでした。あなたが御主人の妻であるからです。どうしてわたしはこの大きな悪をおこなって、神に罪を犯すことができましょう」。
39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back any thing from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
39:10 彼女は毎日ヨセフに言い寄ったけれども、ヨセフは聞きいれず、彼女と寝なかった。また共にいなかった。
39:10 And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
39:11 ある日ヨセフが務をするために家にはいった時、家の者がひとりもそこにいなかったので、
39:11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
39:12 彼女はヨセフの着物を捕えて、「わたしと寝なさい」と言った。ヨセフは着物を彼女の手に残して外にのがれ出た。
39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
39:13 彼女はヨセフが着物を自分の手に残して外にのがれたのを見て、
39:13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,
39:14 その家の者どもを呼び、彼らに告げて言った、「主人がわたしたちの所に連れてきたヘブルびとは、わたしたちに戯れます。彼はわたしと寝ようとして、わたしの所にはいったので、わたしは大声で叫びました。
39:14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spoke unto them, saying, See, he has brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
39:15 彼はわたしが声をあげて叫ぶのを聞くと、着物をわたしの所に残して外にのがれ出ました」。
39:15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
39:16 彼女はその着物をかたわらに置いて、主人の帰って来るのを待った。
39:16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
39:17 そして彼女は次のように主人に告げた、「あなたがわたしたちに連れてこられたヘブルのしもべはわたしに戯れようとして、わたしの所にはいってきました。
39:17 And she spoke unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which you have brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:
39:18 わたしが声をあげて叫んだので、彼は着物をわたしの所に残して外にのがれました」。
39:18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.
39:19 主人はその妻が「あなたのしもべは、わたしにこんな事をした」と告げる言葉を聞いて、激しく怒った。
39:19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke unto him, saying, After this manner did your servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.
39:20 そしてヨセフの主人は彼を捕えて、王の囚人をつなぐ獄屋に投げ入れた。こうしてヨセフは獄屋の中におったが、
39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
39:21 主はヨセフと共におられて彼にいつくしみを垂れ、獄屋番の恵みをうけさせられた。
39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
39:22 獄屋番は獄屋におるすべての囚人をヨセフの手にゆだねたので、彼はそこでするすべての事をおこなった。
39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
39:23 獄屋番は彼の手にゆだねた事はいっさい顧みなかった。主がヨセフと共におられたからである。主は彼のなす事を栄えさせられた。
39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
40:1 これらの事の後、エジプト王の給仕役と料理役とがその主君エジプト王に罪を犯した。
40:1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
40:2 パロはふたりの役人、すなわち給仕役の長と料理役の長に向かって憤り、
40:2 And Pharaoh was angry against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
40:3 侍衛長の家の監禁所、すなわちヨセフがつながれている獄屋に入れた。
40:3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
40:4 侍衛長はヨセフに命じて彼らと共におらせたので、ヨセフは彼らに仕えた。こうして彼らは監禁所で幾日かを過ごした。
40:4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.
40:5 さて獄屋につながれたエジプト王の給仕役と料理役のふたりは一夜のうちにそれぞれ意味のある夢を見た。
40:5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
40:6 ヨセフが朝、彼らのところへ行って見ると、彼らは悲しみに沈んでいた。
40:6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
40:7 そこでヨセフは自分と一緒に主人の家の監禁所にいるパロの役人たちに尋ねて言った、「どうして、きょう、あなたがたの顔色が悪いのですか」。
40:7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look all of you so sadly to day?
40:8 彼らは言った、「わたしたちは夢を見ましたが、解いてくれる者がいません」。ヨセフは彼らに言った、「解くことは神によるのではありませんか。どうぞ、わたしに話してください」。
40:8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
40:9 給仕役の長はその夢をヨセフに話して言った、「わたしが見た夢で、わたしの前に一本のぶどうの木がありました。
40:9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
40:10 そのぶどうの木に三つの枝があって、芽を出し、花が咲き、ぶどうのふさが熟しました。
40:10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
40:11 時にわたしの手に、パロの杯があって、わたしはそのぶどうを取り、それをパロの杯にしぼり、その杯をパロの手にささげました」。
40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
40:12 ヨセフは言った、「その解き明かしはこうです。三つの枝は三日です。
40:12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:
40:13 今から三日のうちにパロはあなたの頭を上げて、あなたを元の役目に返すでしょう。あなたはさきに給仕役だった時にされたように、パロの手に杯をささげられるでしょう。
40:13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up yours head, and restore you unto your place: and you shall deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when you were his butler.
40:14 それで、あなたがしあわせになられたら、わたしを覚えていて、どうかわたしに恵みを施し、わたしの事をパロに話して、この家からわたしを出してください。
40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with you, and show kindness, I pray you, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
40:15 わたしは、実はヘブルびとの地からさらわれてきた者です。またここでもわたしは地下の獄屋に入れられるような事はしなかったのです」。
40:15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
40:16 料理役の長はその解き明かしの良かったのを見て、ヨセフに言った、「わたしも夢を見たが、白いパンのかごが三つ、わたしの頭の上にあった。
40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
40:17 一番上のかごには料理役がパロのために作ったさまざまの食物があったが、鳥がわたしの頭の上のかごからそれを食べていた」。
40:17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of baked food for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
40:18 ヨセフは答えて言った、「その解き明かしはこうです。三つのかごは三日です。
40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
40:19 今から三日のうちにパロはあなたの頭を上げ離して、あなたを木に掛けるでしょう。そして鳥があなたの肉を食い取るでしょう」。
40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up your head from off you, and shall hang you on a tree; and the birds shall eat your flesh from off you.
40:20 さて三日目はパロの誕生日であったので、パロはすべての家来のためにふるまいを設け、家来のうちの給仕役の長の頭と、料理役の長の頭を上げた。
40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
40:21 すなわちパロは給仕役の長を給仕役の職に返したので、彼はパロの手に杯をささげた。
40:21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:
40:22 しかしパロは料理役の長を木に掛けた。ヨセフが彼らに解き明かしたとおりである。
40:22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
40:23 ところが、給仕役の長はヨセフを思い出さず、忘れてしまった。
40:23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgotten about him.
41:1 二年の後パロは夢を見た。夢に、彼はナイル川のほとりに立っていた。
41:1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
41:2 すると、その川から美しい、肥え太った七頭の雌牛が上がってきて葦を食っていた。
41:2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured cattle and well fed; and they fed in a meadow.
41:3 その後、また醜い、やせ細った他の七頭の雌牛が川から上がってきて、川の岸にいた雌牛のそばに立ち、
41:3 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and thin; and stood by the other cattle upon the brink of the river.
41:4 その醜い、やせ細った雌牛が、あの美しい、肥えた七頭の雌牛を食いつくした。ここでパロは目が覚めた。
41:4 And the ill favoured and thin cattle did eat up the seven well favoured and fat cattle. So Pharaoh awoke.
41:5 彼はまた眠って、再び夢を見た。夢に、一本の茎に太った良い七つの穂が出てきた。
41:5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
41:6 その後また、やせて、東風に焼けた七つの穂が出てきて、
41:6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
41:7 そのやせた穂が、あの太って実った七つの穂をのみつくした。ここでパロは目が覚めたが、それは夢であった。
41:7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
41:8 朝になって、パロは心が騒ぎ、人をつかわして、エジプトのすべての魔術師とすべての知者とを呼び寄せ、彼らに夢を告げたが、これをパロに解き明かしうる者がなかった。
41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
41:9 そのとき給仕役の長はパロに告げて言った、「わたしはきょう、自分のあやまちを思い出しました。
41:9 Then spoke the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:
41:10 かつてパロがしもべらに向かって憤り、わたしと料理役の長とを侍衛長の家の監禁所にお入れになった時、
41:10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:
41:11 わたしも彼も一夜のうちに夢を見、それぞれ意味のある夢を見ましたが、
41:11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
41:12 そこに侍衛長のしもべで、ひとりの若いヘブルびとがわれわれと共にいたので、彼に話したところ、彼はわれわれの夢を解き明かし、その夢によって、それぞれ解き明かしをしました。
41:12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
41:13 そして彼が解き明かしたとおりになって、パロはわたしを職に返し、彼を木に掛けられました」。
41:13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
41:14 そこでパロは人をつかわしてヨセフを呼んだ。人々は急いで彼を地下の獄屋から出した。ヨセフは、ひげをそり、着物を着替えてパロのもとに行った。
41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
41:15 パロはヨセフに言った、「わたしは夢を見たが、これを解き明かす者がない。聞くところによると、あなたは夢を聞いて、解き明かしができるそうだ」。
41:15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of you, that you can understand a dream to interpret it.
41:16 ヨセフはパロに答えて言った、「いいえ、わたしではありません。神がパロに平安をお告げになりましょう」。
41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
41:17 パロはヨセフに言った、「夢にわたしは川の岸に立っていた。
41:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:
41:18 その川から肥え太った、美しい七頭の雌牛が上がってきて葦を食っていた。
41:18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, well fed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:
41:19 その後、弱く、非常に醜い、やせ細った他の七頭の雌牛がまた上がってきた。わたしはエジプト全国で、このような醜いものをまだ見たことがない。
41:19 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and thin, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
41:20 ところがそのやせた醜い雌牛が、初めの七頭の肥えた雌牛を食いつくしたが、
41:20 And the lean and the ill favoured cattle did eat up the first seven fat cattle:
41:21 腹にはいっても、腹にはいった事が知れず、やはり初めのように醜かった。ここでわたしは目が覚めた。
41:21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
41:22 わたしはまた夢をみた。一本の茎に七つの実った良い穂が出てきた。
41:22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:
41:23 その後、やせ衰えて、東風に焼けた七つの穂が出てきたが、
41:23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:
41:24 そのやせた穂が、あの七つの良い穂をのみつくした。わたしは魔術師に話したが、わたしにそのわけを示しうる者はなかった」。
41:24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
41:25 ヨセフはパロに言った、「パロの夢は一つです。神がこれからしようとすることをパロに示されたのです。
41:25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God has showed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
41:26 七頭の良い雌牛は七年です。七つの良い穂も七年で、夢は一つです。
41:26 The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.
41:27 あとに続いて、上がってきた七頭のやせた醜い雌牛は七年で、東風に焼けた実の入らない七つの穂は七年のききんです。
41:27 And the seven thin and ill favoured cattle that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
41:28 わたしがパロに申し上げたように、神がこれからしようとすることをパロに示されたのです。
41:28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he shows unto Pharaoh.
41:29 エジプト全国に七年の大豊作があり、
41:29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
41:30 その後七年のききんが起り、その豊作はみなエジプトの国で忘れられて、そのききんは国を滅ぼすでしょう。
41:30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
41:31 後に来るそのききんが、非常に激しいから、その豊作は国のうちで記憶されなくなるでしょう。
41:31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
41:32 パロが二度重ねて夢を見られたのは、この事が神によって定められ、神がすみやかにこれをされるからです。
41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
41:33 それゆえパロは今、さとく、かつ賢い人を尋ね出してエジプトの国を治めさせなさい。
41:33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
41:34 パロはこうして国中に監督を置き、その七年の豊作のうちに、エジプトの国の産物の五分の一を取り、
41:34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven abundant years.
41:35 続いて来る良い年々のすべての食糧を彼らに集めさせ、穀物を食糧として、パロの手で町々にたくわえ守らせなさい。
41:35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
41:36 こうすれば食糧は、エジプトの国に臨む七年のききんに備えて、この国のためにたくわえとなり、この国はききんによって滅びることがないでしょう」。
41:36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
41:37 この事はパロとそのすべての家来たちの目にかなった。
41:37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
41:38 そこでパロは家来たちに言った、「われわれは神の霊をもつこのような人を、ほかに見いだし得ようか」。
41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
41:39 またパロはヨセフに言った、「神がこれを皆あなたに示された。あなたのようにさとく賢い者はない。
41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God has showed you all this, there is none so discreet and wise as you are:
41:40 あなたはわたしの家を治めてください。わたしの民はみなあなたの言葉に従うでしょう。わたしはただ王の位でだけあなたにまさる」。
41:40 You shall be over my house, and according unto your word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than you.
41:41 パロは更にヨセフに言った、「わたしはあなたをエジプト全国のつかさとする」。
41:41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.
41:42 そしてパロは指輪を手からはずして、ヨセフの手にはめ、亜麻布の衣服を着せ、金の鎖をくびにかけ、
41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
41:43 自分の第二の車に彼を乗せ、「ひざまずけ」とその前に呼ばわらせ、こうして彼をエジプト全国のつかさとした。
41:43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
41:44 ついでパロはヨセフに言った、「わたしはパロである。あなたの許しがなければエジプト全国で、だれも手足を上げることはできない」。
41:44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
41:45 パロはヨセフの名をザフナテ・パネアと呼び、オンの祭司ポテペラの娘アセナテを妻として彼に与えた。ヨセフはエジプトの国を巡った。
41:45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
41:46 ヨセフがエジプトの王パロの前に立った時は三十歳であった。ヨセフはパロの前を出て、エジプト全国をあまねく巡った。
41:46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
41:47 さて七年の豊作のうちに地は豊かに物を産した。
41:47 And in the seven abundant years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
41:48 そこでヨセフはエジプトの国にできたその七年間の食糧をことごとく集め、その食糧を町々に納めさせた。すなわち町の周囲にある畑の食糧をその町の中に納めさせた。
41:48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.
41:49 ヨセフは穀物を海の砂のように、非常に多くたくわえ、量りきれなくなったので、ついに量ることをやめた。
41:49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.
41:50 ききんの年の来る前にヨセフにふたりの子が生れた。これらはオンの祭司ポテペラの娘アセナテが産んだのである。
41:50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.
41:51 ヨセフは長子の名をマナセと名づけて言った、「神がわたしにすべての苦難と父の家のすべての事を忘れさせられた」。
41:51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.
41:52 また次の子の名をエフライムと名づけて言った、「神がわたしを悩みの地で豊かにせられた」。
41:52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
41:53 エジプトの国にあった七年の豊作が終り、
41:53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
41:54 ヨセフの言ったように七年のききんが始まった。そのききんはすべての国にあったが、エジプト全国には食物があった。
41:54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
41:55 やがてエジプト全国が飢えた時、民はパロに食物を叫び求めた。そこでパロはすべてのエジプトびとに言った、「ヨセフのもとに行き、彼の言うようにせよ」。
41:55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he says to you, do.
41:56 ききんが地の全面にあったので、ヨセフはすべての穀倉を開いて、エジプトびとに売った。ききんはますますエジプトの国に激しくなった。
41:56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
41:57 ききんが全地に激しくなったので、諸国の人々がエジプトのヨセフのもとに穀物を買うためにきた。
41:57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph in order to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.
42:1 ヤコブはエジプトに穀物があると知って、むすこたちに言った、「あなたがたはなぜ顔を見合わせているのですか」。
42:1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do all of you look one upon another?
42:2 また言った、「エジプトに穀物があるということだが、あなたがたはそこへ下って行って、そこから、われわれのため穀物を買ってきなさい。そうすれば、われわれは生きながらえて、死を免れるであろう」。
42:2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
42:3 そこでヨセフの十人の兄弟は穀物を買うためにエジプトへ下った。
42:3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
42:4 しかし、ヤコブはヨセフの弟ベニヤミンを兄弟たちと一緒にやらなかった。彼が災に会うのを恐れたからである。
42:4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest possibly mischief befall him.
42:5 こうしてイスラエルの子らは穀物を買おうと人々に交じってやってきた。カナンの地にききんがあったからである。
42:5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
42:6 ときにヨセフは国のつかさであって、国のすべての民に穀物を売ることをしていた。ヨセフの兄弟たちはきて、地にひれ伏し、彼を拝した。
42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
42:7 ヨセフは兄弟たちを見て、それと知ったが、彼らに向かっては知らぬ者のようにし、荒々しく語った。すなわち彼らに言った、「あなたがたはどこからきたのか」。彼らは答えた、「食糧を買うためにカナンの地からきました」。
42:7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spoke roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come all of you? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.
42:8 ヨセフは、兄弟たちであるのを知っていたが、彼らはヨセフとは知らなかった。
42:8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
42:9 ヨセフはかつて彼らについて見た夢を思い出して、彼らに言った、「あなたがたは回し者で、この国のすきをうかがうためにきたのです」。
42:9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, All of you are spies; to see the nakedness of the land all of you are come.
42:10 彼らはヨセフに答えた、「いいえ、わが主よ、しもべらはただ食糧を買うためにきたのです。
42:10 And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are your servants come.
42:11 われわれは皆、ひとりの人の子で、真実な者です。しもべらは回し者ではありません」。
42:11 We are all one man's sons; we are true men, your servants are no spies.
42:12 ヨセフは彼らに言った、「いや、あなたがたはこの国のすきをうかがうためにきたのです」。
42:12 And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land all of you are come.
42:13 彼らは言った、「しもべらは十二人兄弟で、カナンの地にいるひとりの人の子です。末の弟は今、父と一緒にいますが、他のひとりはいなくなりました」。
42:13 And they said, Your servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.
42:14 ヨセフは彼らに言った、「わたしが言ったとおり、あなたがたは回し者です。
42:14 And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spoke unto you, saying, All of you are spies:
42:15 あなたがたをこうしてためしてみよう。パロのいのちにかけて誓います。末の弟がここにこなければ、あなたがたはここを出ることはできません。
42:15 Hereby all of you shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh all of you shall not go forth behind, except your youngest brother come here.
42:16 あなたがたのひとりをやって弟を連れてこさせなさい。それまであなたがたをつないでおいて、あなたがたに誠実があるかどうか、あなたがたの言葉をためしてみよう。パロのいのちにかけて誓います。あなたがたは確かに回し者です」。
42:16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and all of you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely all of you are spies.
42:17 ヨセフは彼らをみな一緒に三日の間、監禁所に入れた。
42:17 And he put them all together into ward three days.
42:18 三日目にヨセフは彼らに言った、「こうすればあなたがたは助かるでしょう。わたしは神を恐れます。
42:18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:
42:19 もしあなたがたが真実な者なら、兄弟のひとりをあなたがたのいる監禁所に残し、あなたがたは穀物を携えて行って、家族の飢えを救いなさい。
42:19 If all of you be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go all of you, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
42:20 そして末の弟をわたしのもとに連れてきなさい。そうすればあなたがたの言葉のほんとうであることがわかって、死を免れるでしょう」。彼らはそのようにした。
42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and all of you shall not die. And they did so.
42:21 彼らは互に言った、「確かにわれわれは弟の事で罪がある。彼がしきりに願った時、その心の苦しみを見ながら、われわれは聞き入れなかった。それでこの苦しみに会うのだ」。
42:21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
42:22 ルベンが彼らに答えて言った、「わたしはあなたがたに、この子供に罪を犯すなと言ったではないか。それにもかかわらず、あなたがたは聞き入れなかった。それで彼の血の報いを受けるのです」。
42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spoke I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and all of you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.
42:23 彼らはヨセフが聞きわけているのを知らなかった。相互の間に通訳者がいたからである。
42:23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spoke unto them by an interpreter.
42:24 ヨセフは彼らを離れて行って泣き、また帰ってきて彼らと語り、そのひとりシメオンを捕えて、彼らの目の前で縛った。
42:24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.
42:25 そしてヨセフは人々に命じて、彼らの袋に穀物を満たし、めいめいの銀を袋に返し、道中の食料を与えさせた。ヨセフはこのように彼らにした。
42:25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.
42:26 彼らは穀物をろばに負わせてそこを去った。
42:26 And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.
42:27 そのひとりが宿で、ろばに飼葉をやるため袋をあけて見ると、袋の口に自分の銀があった。
42:27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass animal food in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.
42:28 彼は兄弟たちに言った、「わたしの銀は返してある。しかも見よ、それは袋の中にある」。そこで彼らは非常に驚き、互に震えながら言った、「神がわれわれにされたこのことは何事だろう」。
42:28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God has done unto us?
42:29 こうして彼らはカナンの地にいる父ヤコブのもとに帰り、その身に起った事をことごとく告げて言った、
42:29 And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,
42:30 「あの国の君は、われわれに荒々しく語り、国をうかがう回し者だと言いました。
42:30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.
42:31 われわれは彼に答えました、『われわれは真実な者であって回し者ではない。
42:31 And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:
42:32 われわれは十二人兄弟で、同じ父の子である。ひとりはいなくなり、末の弟は今父と共にカナンの地にいる』。
42:32 We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.
42:33 その国の君であるその人はわれわれに言いました、『わたしはこうしてあなたがたの真実な者であるのを知ろう。あなたがたは兄弟のひとりをわたしのもとに残し、穀物を携えて行って、家族の飢えを救いなさい。
42:33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that all of you are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:
42:34 そして末の弟をわたしのもとに連れてきなさい。そうすればあなたがたが回し者ではなく、真実な者であるのを知って、あなたがたの兄弟を返し、この国であなたがたに取引させましょう』」。
42:34 And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that all of you are no spies, but that all of you are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and all of you shall trade in the land.
42:35 彼らが袋のものを出して見ると、めいめいの金包みが袋の中にあったので、彼らも父も金包みを見て恐れた。
42:35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
42:36 父ヤコブは彼らに言った、「あなたがたはわたしに子を失わせた。ヨセフはいなくなり、シメオンもいなくなった。今度はベニヤミンをも取り去る。これらはみなわたしの身にふりかかって来るのだ」。
42:36 And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have all of you bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and all of you will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.
42:37 ルベンは父に言った、「もしわたしが彼をあなたのもとに連れて帰らなかったら、わたしのふたりの子を殺してください。ただ彼をわたしの手にまかせてください。わたしはきっと、あなたのもとに彼を連れて帰ります」。
42:37 And Reuben spoke unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to you: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to you again.
42:38 ヤコブは言った、「わたしの子はあなたがたと共に下って行ってはならない。彼の兄は死に、ただひとり彼が残っているのだから。もしあなたがたの行く道で彼が災に会えば、あなたがたは、しらがのわたしを悲しんで陰府に下らせるであろう」。
42:38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which all of you go, then shall all of you bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
43:1 ききんはその地に激しかった。
43:1 And the famine was sore in the land.
43:2 彼らがエジプトから携えてきた穀物を食い尽した時、父は彼らに言った、「また行って、われわれのために少しの食糧を買ってきなさい」。
43:2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.
43:3 ユダは父に答えて言った、「あの人はわれわれをきびしく戒めて、弟が一緒でなければ、わたしの顔を見てはならないと言いました。
43:3 And Judah spoke unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, All of you shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
43:4 もしあなたが弟をわれわれと一緒にやってくださるなら、われわれは下って行って、あなたのために食糧を買ってきましょう。
43:4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food:
43:5 しかし、もし彼をやられないなら、われわれは下って行きません。あの人がわれわれに、弟が一緒でなければわたしの顔を見てはならないと言ったのですから」。
43:5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, All of you shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
43:6 イスラエルは言った、「なぜ、もうひとりの弟があるとあの人に言って、わたしを苦しめるのか」。
43:6 And Israel said, Wherefore dealt all of you so ill with me, as to tell the man whether all of you had yet a brother?
43:7 彼らは言った、「あの人がわれわれと一族とのことを問いただして、父はまだ生きているか、もうひとりの弟があるかと言ったので、問われるままに答えましたが、その人が、弟を連れてこいと言おうとは、どうして知ることができたでしょう」。
43:7 And they said, The man asked us strictly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have all of you another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
43:8 ユダは父イスラエルに言った、「あの子をわたしと一緒にやってくだされば、われわれは立って行きましょう。そしてわれわれもあなたも、われわれの子供らも生きながらえ、死を免れましょう。
43:8 And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.
43:9 わたしが彼の身を請け合います。わたしの手から彼を求めなさい。もしわたしが彼をあなたのもとに連れ帰って、あなたの前に置かなかったら、わたしはあなたに対して永久に罪を負いましょう。
43:9 I will be guarantor for him; of my hand shall you require him: if I bring him not unto you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever:
43:10 もしわれわれがこんなにためらわなかったら、今ごろは二度も行ってきたでしょう」。
43:10 For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.
43:11 父イスラエルは彼らに言った、「それではこうしなさい。この国の名産を器に入れ、携え下ってその人に贈り物にしなさい。すなわち少しの乳香、少しの蜜、香料、もつやく、ふすだしう、あめんどう。
43:11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
43:12 そしてその上に、倍額の銀を手に持って行きなさい。また袋の口に返してあった銀は持って行って返しなさい。たぶんそれは誤りであったのでしょう。
43:12 And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; possibly it was an oversight:
43:13 弟も連れ、立って、またその人の所へ行きなさい。
43:13 Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:
43:14 どうか全能の神がその人の前であなたがたをあわれみ、もうひとりの兄弟とベニヤミンとを、返させてくださるように。もしわたしが子を失わなければならないのなら、失ってもよい」。
43:14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
43:15 そこでその人々は贈り物を取り、また倍額の銀を携え、ベニヤミンを連れ、立ってエジプトへ下り、ヨセフの前に立った。
43:15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
43:16 ヨセフはベニヤミンが彼らと共にいるのを見て、家づかさに言った、「この人々を家に連れて行き、獣をほふって、したくするように。この人々は昼、わたしと一緒に食事をします」。
43:16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.
43:17 その人はヨセフの言ったようにして、この人々をヨセフの家へ連れて行った。
43:17 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.
43:18 ところがこの人々はヨセフの家へ連れて行かれたので恐れて言った、「初めの時に袋に返してあったあの銀のゆえに、われわれを引き入れたのです。そしてわれわれを襲い、攻め、捕えて奴隷とし、われわれのろばをも奪うのです」。
43:18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
43:19 彼らはヨセフの家づかさに近づいて、家の入口で、言った、
43:19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
43:20 「ああ、わが主よ、われわれは最初、食糧を買うために下ってきたのです。
43:20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
43:21 ところが宿に行って袋をあけて見ると、めいめいの銀は袋の口にあって、銀の重さは元のままでした。それでわれわれはそれを持って参りました。
43:21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
43:22 そして食糧を買うために、ほかの銀をも持って下ってきました。われわれの銀を袋に入れた者が、だれであるかは分りません」。
43:22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
43:23 彼は言った、「安心しなさい。恐れてはいけません。その宝はあなたがたの神、あなたがたの父の神が、あなたがたの袋に入れてあなたがたに賜わったのです。あなたがたの銀はわたしが受け取りました」。そして彼はシメオンを彼らの所へ連れてきた。
43:23 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
43:24 こうしてその人はこの人々をヨセフの家へ導き、水を与えて足を洗わせ、また、ろばに飼葉を与えた。
43:24 And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses animal food.
43:25 彼らはその所で食事をするのだと聞き、贈り物を整えて、昼にヨセフの来るのを待った。
43:25 And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
43:26 さてヨセフが家に帰ってきたので、彼らはその家に携えてきた贈り物をヨセフにささげ、地に伏して、彼を拝した。
43:26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
43:27 ヨセフは彼らの安否を問うて言った、「あなたがたの父、あなたがたがさきに話していたその老人は無事ですか。なお生きながらえておられますか」。
43:27 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom all of you spoke? Is he yet alive?
43:28 彼らは答えた、「あなたのしもべ、われわれの父は無事で、なお生きながらえています」。そして彼らは、頭をさげて拝した。
43:28 And they answered, Your servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made reverence.
43:29 ヨセフは目をあげて同じ母の子である弟ベニヤミンを見て言った、「これはあなたがたが前にわたしに話した末の弟ですか」。また言った、「わが子よ、どうか神があなたを恵まれるように」。
43:29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom all of you spoke unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto you, my son.
43:30 ヨセフは弟なつかしさに心がせまり、急いで泣く場所をたずね、へやにはいって泣いた。
43:30 And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
43:31 やがて彼は顔を洗って出てきた。そして自分を制して言った、「食事にしよう」。
43:31 And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
43:32 そこでヨセフはヨセフ、彼らは彼ら、陪食のエジプトびとはエジプトびと、と別々に席に着いた。エジプトびとはヘブルびとと共に食事することができなかった。それはエジプトびとの忌むところであったからである。
43:32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
43:33 こうして彼らはヨセフの前に、長子は長子として、弟は弟としてすわらせられたので、その人々は互に驚いた。
43:33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.
43:34 またヨセフの前から、めいめいの分が運ばれたが、ベニヤミンの分は他のいずれの者の分よりも五倍多かった。こうして彼らは飲み、ヨセフと共に楽しんだ。
43:34 And he took and sent portions unto them from before him: but Benjamin's portion was five times so much as any of their's. And they drank, and were merry with him.
44:1 さてヨセフは家づかさに命じて言った、「この人々の袋に、運べるだけ多くの食糧を満たし、めいめいの銀を袋の口に入れておきなさい。
44:1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.
44:2 またわたしの杯、銀の杯をあの年下の者の袋の口に、穀物の代金と共に入れておきなさい」。家づかさはヨセフの言葉のとおりにした。
44:2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
44:3 夜が明けると、その人々と、ろばとは送り出されたが、
44:3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
44:4 町を出て、まだ遠くへ行かないうちに、ヨセフは家づかさに言った、「立って、あの人々のあとを追いなさい。追いついて、彼らに言いなさい、『あなたがたはなぜ悪をもって善に報いるのですか。なぜわたしの銀の杯を盗んだのですか。
44:4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when you do overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have all of you rewarded evil for good?
44:5 これはわたしの主人が飲む時に使い、またいつも占いに用いるものではありませんか。あなたがたのした事は悪いことです』」。
44:5 Is not this it in which my lord drinks, and whereby indeed he divines? all of you have done evil in so doing.
44:6 家づかさが彼らに追いついて、これらの言葉を彼らに告げたとき、
44:6 And he overtook them, and he spoke unto them these same words.
44:7 彼らは言った、「わが主は、どうしてそのようなことを言われるのですか。しもべらは決してそのようなことはいたしません。
44:7 And they said unto him, Wherefore says my lord these words? God forbid that your servants should do according to this thing:
44:8 袋の口で見つけた銀でさえ、カナンの地からあなたの所に持ち帰ったほどです。どうして、われわれは御主人の家から銀や金を盗みましょう。
44:8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto you out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of your lord's house silver or gold?
44:9 しもべらのうちのだれの所でそれが見つかっても、その者は死に、またわれわれはわが主の奴隷となりましょう」。
44:9 With whomsoever of your servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
44:10 家づかさは言った、「それではあなたがたの言葉のようにしよう。杯の見つかった者はわたしの奴隷とならなければならない。ほかの者は無罪です」。
44:10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and all of you shall be blameless.
44:11 そこで彼らは、めいめい急いで袋を地におろし、ひとりひとりその袋を開いた。
44:11 Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.
44:12 家づかさは年上から捜し始めて年下に終ったが、杯はベニヤミンの袋の中にあった。
44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
44:13 そこで彼らは衣服を裂き、おのおの、ろばに荷を負わせて町に引き返した。
44:13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.
44:14 ユダと兄弟たちとは、ヨセフの家にはいったが、ヨセフがなおそこにいたので、彼らはその前で地にひれ伏した。
44:14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
44:15 ヨセフは彼らに言った、「あなたがたのこのしわざは何事ですか。わたしのような人は、必ず占い当てることを知らないのですか」。
44:15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that all of you have done? know all of you not that such a man as I can certainly divine?
44:16 ユダは言った、「われわれはわが主に何を言い、何を述べ得ましょう。どうしてわれわれは身の潔白をあらわし得ましょう。神がしもべらの罪をあばかれました。われわれと、杯を持っていた者とは共にわが主の奴隷となりましょう」。
44:16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
44:17 ヨセフは言った、「わたしは決してそのようなことはしない。杯を持っている者だけがわたしの奴隷とならなければならない。ほかの者は安全に父のもとへ上って行きなさい」。
44:17 And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
44:18 この時ユダは彼に近づいて言った、「ああ、わが主よ、どうぞわが主の耳にひとこと言わせてください。しもべをおこらないでください。あなたはパロのようなかたです。
44:18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let your servant, I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not yours anger burn against your servant: for you are even as Pharaoh.
44:19 わが主はしもべらに尋ねて、『父があるか、また弟があるか』と言われたので、
44:19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have all of you a father, or a brother?
44:20 われわれはわが主に言いました、『われわれには老齢の父があり、また年寄り子の弟があります。その兄は死んで、同じ母の子で残っているのは、ただこれだけですから父はこれを愛しています』。
44:20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.
44:21 その時あなたはしもべらに言われました、『その者をわたしの所へ連れてきなさい。わたしはこの目で彼を見よう』。
44:21 And you said unto your servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.
44:22 われわれはわが主に言いました。『その子供は父を離れることができません。もし父を離れたら父は死ぬでしょう』。
44:22 And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
44:23 しかし、あなたはしもべらに言われました、『末の弟が一緒に下ってこなければ、おまえたちは再びわたしの顔を見ることはできない』。
44:23 And you said unto your servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, all of you shall see my face no more.
44:24 それであなたのしもべである父のもとに上って、わが主の言葉を彼に告げました。
44:24 And it came to pass when we came up unto your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
44:25 ところで、父が『おまえたちは再び行って、われわれのために少しの食糧を買ってくるように』と言ったので、
44:25 And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.
44:26 われわれは言いました、『われわれは下って行けません。もし末の弟が一緒であれば行きましょう。末の弟が一緒でなければ、あの人の顔を見ることができません』。
44:26 And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.
44:27 あなたのしもべである父は言いました、『おまえたちの知っているとおり、妻はわたしにふたりの子を産んだ。
44:27 And your servant my father said unto us, All of you know that my wife bare me two sons:
44:28 ひとりは外へ出たが、きっと裂き殺されたのだと思う。わたしは今になっても彼を見ない。
44:28 And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:
44:29 もしおまえたちがこの子をもわたしから取って行って、彼が災に会えば、おまえたちは、しらがのわたしを悲しんで陰府に下らせるであろう』。
44:29 And if all of you take this also from me, and mischief befall him, all of you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
44:30 わたしがあなたのしもべである父のもとに帰って行くとき、もしこの子供が一緒にいなかったら、どうなるでしょう。父の魂は子供の魂に結ばれているのです。
44:30 Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;
44:31 この子供がわれわれと一緒にいないのを見たら、父は死ぬでしょう。そうすればしもべらは、あなたのしもべであるしらがの父を悲しんで陰府に下らせることになるでしょう。
44:31 It shall come to pass, when he sees that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and your servants shall bring down the gray hairs of your servant our father with sorrow to the grave.
44:32 しもべは父にこの子供の身を請け合って『もしわたしがこの子をあなたのもとに連れ帰らなかったら、わたしは父に対して永久に罪を負いましょう』と言ったのです。
44:32 For your servant became guarantor for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto you, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
44:33 どうか、しもべをこの子供の代りに、わが主の奴隷としてとどまらせ、この子供を兄弟たちと一緒に上り行かせてください、
44:33 Now therefore, I pray you, let your servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.
44:34 この子供を連れずに、どうしてわたしは父のもとに上り行くことができましょう。父が災に会うのを見るに忍びません」。
44:34 For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest possibly I see the evil that shall come on my father.
45:1 そこでヨセフはそばに立っているすべての人の前で、自分を制しきれなくなったので、「人は皆ここから出てください」と呼ばわった。それゆえヨセフが兄弟たちに自分のことを明かした時、ひとりも彼のそばに立っている者はなかった。
45:1 Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.
45:2 ヨセフは声をあげて泣いた。エジプトびとはこれを聞き、パロの家もこれを聞いた。
45:2 And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.
45:3 ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしはヨセフです。父はまだ生きながらえていますか」。兄弟たちは答えることができなかった。彼らは驚き恐れたからである。
45:3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; does my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.
45:4 ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしに近寄ってください」。彼らが近寄ったので彼は言った、「わたしはあなたがたの弟ヨセフです。あなたがたがエジプトに売った者です。
45:4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom all of you sold into Egypt.
45:5 しかしわたしをここに売ったのを嘆くことも、悔むこともいりません。神は命を救うために、あなたがたよりさきにわたしをつかわされたのです。
45:5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that all of you sold me here: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
45:6 この二年の間、国中にききんがあったが、なお五年の間は耕すことも刈り入れることもないでしょう。
45:6 For these two years has the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earring nor harvest.
45:7 神は、あなたがたのすえを地に残すため、また大いなる救をもってあなたがたの命を助けるために、わたしをあなたがたよりさきにつかわされたのです。
45:7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
45:8 それゆえわたしをここにつかわしたのはあなたがたではなく、神です。神はわたしをパロの父とし、その全家の主とし、またエジプト全国のつかさとされました。
45:8 So now it was not you that sent me here, but God: and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
45:9 あなたがたは父のもとに急ぎ上って言いなさい、『あなたの子ヨセフが、こう言いました。神がわたしをエジプト全国の主とされたから、ためらわずにわたしの所へ下ってきなさい。
45:9 Haste all of you, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:
45:10 あなたはゴセンの地に住み、あなたも、あなたの子らも、孫たちも、羊も牛も、その他のものもみな、わたしの近くにおらせます。
45:10 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near unto me, you, and your children, and your children's children, and your flocks, and your herds, and all that you have:
45:11 ききんはなお五年つづきますから、あなたも、家族も、その他のものも、みな困らないように、わたしはそこで養いましょう』。
45:11 And there will I nourish you; for yet there are five years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty.
45:12 あなたがたと弟ベニヤミンが目に見るとおり、あなたがたに口ずから語っているのはこのわたしです。
45:12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks unto you.
45:13 あなたがたはエジプトでの、わたしのいっさいの栄えと、あなたがたが見るいっさいの事をわたしの父に告げ、急いでわたしの父をここへ連れ下りなさい」。
45:13 And all of you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that all of you have seen; and all of you shall haste and bring down my father here.
45:14 そしてヨセフは弟ベニヤミンのくびを抱いて泣き、ベニヤミンも彼のくびを抱いて泣いた。
45:14 And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.
45:15 またヨセフはすべての兄弟たちに口づけし、彼らを抱いて泣いた。そして後、兄弟たちは彼と語った。
45:15 Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.
45:16 時に、「ヨセフの兄弟たちがきた」と言ううわさがパロの家に聞えたので、パロとその家来たちとは喜んだ。
45:16 And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.
45:17 パロはヨセフに言った、「兄弟たちに言いなさい、『あなたがたは、こうしなさい。獣に荷を負わせてカナンの地へ行き、
45:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto your brethren, This do all of you; load your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;
45:18 父と家族とを連れてわたしのもとへきなさい。わたしはあなたがたに、エジプトの地の良い物を与えます。あなたがたは、この国の最も良いものを食べるでしょう』。
45:18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and all of you shall eat the fat of the land.
45:19 また彼らに命じなさい、『あなたがたは、こうしなさい。幼な子たちと妻たちのためにエジプトの地から車をもって行き、父を連れてきなさい。
45:19 Now you are commanded, this do all of you; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.
45:20 家財に心を引かれてはなりません。エジプト全国の良い物は、あなたがたのものだからです』」。
45:20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt are yours.
45:21 イスラエルの子らはそのようにした。ヨセフはパロの命に従って彼らに車を与え、また途中の食料をも与えた。
45:21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.
45:22 まためいめいに晴着を与えたが、ベニヤミンには銀三百シケルと晴着五着とを与えた。
45:22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.
45:23 また彼は父に次のようなものを贈った。すなわちエジプトの良い物を負わせたろば十頭と、穀物、パン及び父の道中の食料を負わせた雌ろば十頭。
45:23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and food for his father by the way.
45:24 こうしてヨセフは兄弟たちを送り去らせ、彼らに言った、「途中で争ってはなりません」。
45:24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that all of you fall not out by the way.
45:25 彼らはエジプトから上ってカナンの地に入り、父ヤコブのもとへ行って、
45:25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,
45:26 彼に言った、「ヨセフはなお生きていてエジプト全国のつかさです」。ヤコブは気が遠くなった。彼らの言うことが信じられなかったからである。
45:26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not.
45:27 そこで彼らはヨセフが語った言葉を残らず彼に告げた。父ヤコブはヨセフが自分を乗せるために送った車を見て元気づいた。
45:27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:
45:28 そしてイスラエルは言った、「満足だ。わが子ヨセフがまだ生きている。わたしは死ぬ前に行って彼を見よう」。
45:28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.
46:1 イスラエルはその持ち物をことごとく携えて旅立ち、ベエルシバに行って、父イサクの神に犠牲をささげた。
46:1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.
46:2 この時、神は夜の幻のうちにイスラエルに語って言われた、「ヤコブよ、ヤコブよ」。彼は言った、「ここにいます」。
46:2 And God spoke unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
46:3 神は言われた、「わたしは神、あなたの父の神である。エジプトに下るのを恐れてはならない。わたしはあそこであなたを大いなる国民にする。
46:3 And he said, I am God, the God of your father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation:
46:4 わたしはあなたと一緒にエジプトに下り、また必ずあなたを導き上るであろう。ヨセフが手ずからあなたの目を閉じるであろう」。
46:4 I will go down with you into Egypt; and I will also surely bring you up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon yours eyes.
46:5 そしてヤコブはベエルシバを立った。イスラエルの子らはヤコブを乗せるためにパロの送った車に、父ヤコブと幼な子たちと妻たちを乗せ、
46:5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
46:6 またその家畜とカナンの地で得た財産を携え、ヤコブとその子孫は皆ともにエジプトへ行った。
46:6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had got in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:
46:7 こうしてヤコブはその子と、孫および娘と孫娘などその子孫をみな連れて、エジプトへ行った。
46:7 His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
46:8 イスラエルの子らでエジプトへ行った者の名は次のとおりである。すなわちヤコブとその子らであるが、ヤコブの長子はルベン。
46:8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.
46:9 ルベンの子らはハノク、パル、ヘヅロン、カルミ。
46:9 And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.
46:10 シメオンの子らはエムエル、ヤミン、オハデ、ヤキン、ゾハル及びカナンの女の産んだ子シャウル。
46:10 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.
46:11 レビの子らはゲルション、コハテ、メラリ。
46:11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
46:12 ユダの子らはエル、オナン、シラ、ペレヅ、ゼラ。エルとオナンはカナンの地で死んだ。ペレヅの子らはヘヅロンとハムル。
46:12 And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.
46:13 イッサカルの子らはトラ、プワ、ヨブ、シムロン。
46:13 And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.
46:14 ゼブルンの子らはセレデ、エロン、ヤリエル。
46:14 And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.
46:15 これらと娘デナとはレアがパダンアラムでヤコブに産んだ子らである。その子らと娘らは合わせて三十三人。
46:15 These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.
46:16 ガドの子らはゼポン、ハギ、シュニ、エヅボン、エリ、アロデ、アレリ。
46:16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.
46:17 アセルの子らはエムナ、イシワ、イスイ、ベリアおよび妹サラ。ベリアの子らはヘベルとマルキエル。
46:17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.
46:18 これらはラバンが娘レアに与えたジルパの子らである。彼女はこれらをヤコブに産んだ。合わせて十六人。
46:18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.
46:19 ヤコブの妻ラケルの子らはヨセフとベニヤミンとである。
46:19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.
46:20 エジプトの国でヨセフにマナセとエフライムとが生れた。これはオンの祭司ポテペラの娘アセナテが彼に産んだ者である。
46:20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.
46:21 ベニヤミンの子らはベラ、ベケル、アシベル、ゲラ、ナアマン、エヒ、ロシ、ムッピム、ホパム、アルデ。
46:21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.
46:22 これらはラケルがヤコブに産んだ子らである。合わせて十四人。
46:22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.
46:23 ダンの子はホシム。
46:23 And the sons of Dan; Hushim.
46:24 ナフタリの子らはヤジエル、グニ、エゼル、シレム。
46:24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.
46:25 これらはラバンが娘ラケルに与えたビルハの子らである。彼女はこれらをヤコブに産んだ。合わせて七人。
46:25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.
46:26 ヤコブと共にエジプトへ行ったすべての者、すなわち彼の身から出た者はヤコブの子らの妻をのぞいて、合わせて六十六人であった。
46:26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;
46:27 エジプトでヨセフに生れた子がふたりあった。エジプトへ行ったヤコブの家の者は合わせて七十人であった。
46:27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
46:28 さてヤコブはユダをさきにヨセフにつかわして、ゴセンで会おうと言わせた。そして彼らはゴセンの地へ行った。
46:28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.
46:29 ヨセフは車を整えて、父イスラエルを迎えるためにゴセンに上り、父に会い、そのくびを抱き、くびをかかえて久しく泣いた。
46:29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
46:30 時に、イスラエルはヨセフに言った、「あなたがなお生きていて、わたしはあなたの顔を見たので今は死んでもよい」。
46:30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are yet alive.
46:31 ヨセフは兄弟たちと父の家族とに言った、「わたしは上ってパロに言おう、『カナンの地にいたわたしの兄弟たちと父の家族とがわたしの所へきました。
46:31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and show Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;
46:32 この者らは羊を飼う者、家畜の牧者で、その羊、牛および持ち物をみな携えてきました』。
46:32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade has been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.
46:33 もしパロがあなたがたを召して、『あなたがたの職業は何か』と言われたら、
46:33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?
46:34 『しもべらは幼い時から、ずっと家畜の牧者です。われわれも、われわれの先祖もそうです』と言いなさい。そうすればあなたがたはゴセンの地に住むことができましょう。羊飼はすべて、エジプトびとの忌む者だからです」。
46:34 That all of you shall say, Your servants' trade has been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that all of you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
47:1 ヨセフは行って、パロに言った、「わたしの父と兄弟たち、その羊、牛およびすべての持ち物がカナンの地からきて、今ゴセンの地におります」。
47:1 Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
47:2 そしてその兄弟のうちの五人を連れて行って、パロに会わせた。
47:2 And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.
47:3 パロはヨセフの兄弟たちに言った、「あなたがたの職業は何か」。彼らはパロに言った、「しもべらは羊を飼う者です。われわれも、われわれの先祖もそうです」。
47:3 And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.
47:4 彼らはまたパロに言った、「この国に寄留しようとしてきました。カナンの地はききんが激しく、しもべらの群れのための牧草がないのです。どうかしもべらをゴセンの地に住ませてください」。
47:4 They said moreover unto Pharaoh, In order to sojourn in the land are we come; for your servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray you, let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
47:5 パロはヨセフに言った、「あなたの父と兄弟たちとがあなたのところにきた。
47:5 And Pharaoh spoke unto Joseph, saying, Your father and your brethren are come unto you:
47:6 エジプトの地はあなたの前にある。地の最も良い所にあなたの父と兄弟たちとを住ませなさい。ゴセンの地に彼らを住ませなさい。もしあなたが彼らのうちに有能な者があるのを知っているなら、その者にわたしの家畜をつかさどらせなさい」。
47:6 The land of Egypt is before you; in the best of the land make your father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if you know any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
47:7 そこでヨセフは父ヤコブを導いてパロの前に立たせた。ヤコブはパロを祝福した。
47:7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
47:8 パロはヤコブに言った、「あなたの年はいくつか」。
47:8 And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old are you?
47:9 ヤコブはパロに言った、「わたしの旅路のとしつきは、百三十年です。わたしのよわいの日はわずかで、ふしあわせで、わたしの先祖たちのよわいの日と旅路の日には及びません」。
47:9 And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
47:10 ヤコブはパロを祝福し、パロの前を去った。
47:10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
47:11 ヨセフはパロの命じたように、父と兄弟たちとのすまいを定め、彼らにエジプトの国で最も良い地、ラメセスの地を所有として与えた。
47:11 And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
47:12 またヨセフは父と兄弟たちと父の全家とに、家族の数にしたがい、食物を与えて養った。
47:12 And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.
47:13 さて、ききんが非常に激しかったので、全地に食物がなく、エジプトの国もカナンの国も、ききんのために衰えた。
47:13 And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
47:14 それでヨセフは人々が買った穀物の代金としてエジプトの国とカナンの国にあった銀をみな集め、その銀をパロの家に納めた。
47:14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
47:15 こうしてエジプトの国とカナンの国に銀が尽きたとき、エジプトびとはみなヨセフのもとにきて言った、「食物をください。銀が尽きたからとて、どうしてあなたの前で死んでよいでしょう」。
47:15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in your presence? for the money fails.
47:16 ヨセフは言った、「あなたがたの家畜を出しなさい。銀が尽きたのなら、あなたがたの家畜と引き替えで食物をわたそう」。
47:16 And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
47:17 彼らはヨセフの所へ家畜をひいてきたので、ヨセフは馬と羊の群れと牛の群れ及びろばと引き替えで、食物を彼らにわたした。こうして彼はその年、すべての家畜と引き替えた食物で彼らを養った。
47:17 And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
47:18 やがてその年は暮れ、次の年、人々はまたヨセフの所へきて言った、「わが主には何事も隠しません。われわれの銀は尽き、獣の群れもわが主のものになって、われわれのからだと田地のほかはわが主の前に何も残っていません。
47:18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also has our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
47:19 われわれはどうして田地と一緒に、あなたの目の前で滅んでよいでしょう。われわれと田地とを食物と引き替えで買ってください。われわれは田地と一緒にパロの奴隷となりましょう。また種をください。そうすればわれわれは生きながらえ、死を免れて、田地も荒れないでしょう」。
47:19 Wherefore shall we die before yours eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
47:20 そこでヨセフはエジプトの田地をみなパロのために買い取った。ききんがエジプトびとに、きびしかったので、めいめいその田畑を売ったからである。こうして地はパロのものとなった。
47:20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.
47:21 そしてヨセフはエジプトの国境のこの端からかの端まで民を奴隷とした。
47:21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.
47:22 ただ祭司の田地は買い取らなかった。祭司にはパロの給与があって、パロが与える給与で生活していたので、その田地を売らなかったからである。
47:22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
47:23 ヨセフは民に言った、「わたしはきょう、あなたがたとその田地とを買い取って、パロのものとした。あなたがたに種をあげるから地にまきなさい。
47:23 Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and all of you shall sow the land.
47:24 収穫の時は、その五分の一をパロに納め、五分の四を自分のものとして田畑の種とし、自分と家族の食糧とし、また子供の食糧としなさい」。
47:24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that all of you shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
47:25 彼らは言った、「あなたはわれわれの命をお救いくださった。どうかわが主の前に恵みを得させてください。われわれはパロの奴隷になりましょう」。
47:25 And they said, You have saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
47:26 ヨセフはエジプトの田地について、収穫の五分の一をパロに納めることをおきてとしたが、それは今日に及んでいる。ただし祭司の田地だけはパロのものとならなかった。
47:26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part, except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.
47:27 さてイスラエルはエジプトの国でゴセンの地に住み、そこで財産を得、子を生み、大いにふえた。
47:27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
47:28 ヤコブはエジプトの国で十七年生きながらえた。ヤコブのよわいの日は百四十七年であった。
47:28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.
47:29 イスラエルは死ぬ時が近づいたので、その子ヨセフを呼んで言った、「もしわたしがあなたの前に恵みを得るなら、どうか手をわたしのももの下に入れて誓い、親切と誠実とをもってわたしを取り扱ってください。どうかわたしをエジプトには葬らないでください。
47:29 And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray you, in Egypt:
47:30 わたしが先祖たちと共に眠るときには、わたしをエジプトから運び出して先祖たちの墓に葬ってください」。ヨセフは言った、「あなたの言われたようにいたします」。
47:30 But I will lie with my fathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as you have said.
47:31 ヤコブがまた、「わたしに誓ってください」と言ったので、彼は誓った。イスラエルは床のかしらで拝んだ。
47:31 And he said, Swear unto me. And he swore unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.
48:1 これらの事の後に、「あなたの父は、いま病気です」とヨセフに告げる者があったので、彼はふたりの子、マナセとエフライムとを連れて行った。
48:1 And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, your father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
48:2 時に人がヤコブに告げて、「あなたの子ヨセフがあなたのもとにきました」と言ったので、イスラエルは努めて床の上にすわった。
48:2 And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, your son Joseph comes unto you: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
48:3 そしてヤコブはヨセフに言った、「先に全能の神がカナンの地ルズでわたしに現れ、わたしを祝福して、
48:3 And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
48:4 言われた、『わたしはおまえに多くの子を得させ、おまえをふやし、おまえを多くの国民としよう。また、この地をおまえの後の子孫に与えて永久の所有とさせる』。
48:4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people; and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.
48:5 エジプトにいるあなたの所にわたしが来る前に、エジプトの国で生れたあなたのふたりの子はいまわたしの子とします。すなわちエフライムとマナセとはルベンとシメオンと同じようにわたしの子とします。
48:5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto you in the land of Egypt before I came unto you into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
48:6 ただし彼らの後にあなたに生れた子らはあなたのものとなります。しかし、その嗣業はその兄弟の名で呼ばれるでしょう。
48:6 And your issue, which you brought forth after them, shall be yours, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
48:7 わたしがパダンから帰って来る途中ラケルはカナンの地で死に、わたしは悲しんだ。そこはエフラタに行くまでには、なお隔たりがあった。わたしはエフラタ、すなわちベツレヘムへ行く道のかたわらに彼女を葬った」。
48:7 And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.
48:8 ところで、イスラエルはヨセフの子らを見て言った、「これはだれですか」。
48:8 And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?
48:9 ヨセフは父に言った、「神がここでわたしにくださった子どもです」。父は言った、「彼らをわたしの所に連れてきて、わたしに祝福させてください」。
48:9 And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray you, unto me, and I will bless them.
48:10 イスラエルの目は老齢のゆえに、かすんで見えなかったが、ヨセフが彼らを父の所に近寄らせたので、父は彼らに口づけし、彼らを抱いた。
48:10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
48:11 そしてイスラエルはヨセフに言った、「あなたの顔が見られようとは思わなかったのに、神はあなたの子らをもわたしに見させてくださった」。
48:11 And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see your face: and, lo, God has showed me also your seed.
48:12 そこでヨセフは彼らをヤコブのひざの間から取り出し、地に伏して拝した。
48:12 And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
48:13 ヨセフはエフライムを右の手に取ってイスラエルの左の手に向かわせ、マナセを左の手に取ってイスラエルの右の手に向かわせ、ふたりを近寄らせた。
48:13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
48:14 すると、イスラエルは右の手を伸べて弟エフライムの頭に置き、左の手をマナセの頭に置いた。マナセは長子であるが、ことさらそのように手を置いたのである。
48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wisely; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
48:15 そしてヨセフを祝福して言った、／「わが先祖アブラハムとイサクの仕えた神、／生れてからきょうまでわたしを養われた神、
48:15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
48:16 すべての災からわたしをあがなわれたみ使よ、／この子供たちを祝福してください。またわが名と先祖アブラハムとイサクの名とが、／彼らによって唱えられますように、／また彼らが地の上にふえひろがりますように」。
48:16 The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
48:17 ヨセフは父が右の手をエフライムの頭に置いているのを見て不満に思い、父の手を取ってエフライムの頭からマナセの頭へ移そうとした。
48:17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.
48:18 そしてヨセフは父に言った、「父よ、そうではありません。こちらが長子です。その頭に右の手を置いてください」。
48:18 And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put your right hand upon his head.
48:19 父は拒んで言った、「わかっている。子よ、わたしにはわかっている。彼もまた一つの民となり、また大いなる者となるであろう。しかし弟は彼よりも大いなる者となり、その子孫は多くの国民となるであろう」。
48:19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
48:20 こうして彼はこの日、彼らを祝福して言った、／「あなたを指して、イスラエルは、／人を祝福して言うであろう、／『神があなたをエフライムのごとく、／またマナセのごとくにせられるように』」。このように、彼はエフライムをマナセの先に立てた。
48:20 And he blessed them that day, saying, In you shall Israel bless, saying, God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
48:21 イスラエルはまたヨセフに言った、「わたしはやがて死にます。しかし、神はあなたがたと共におられて、あなたがたを先祖の国に導き返されるであろう。
48:21 And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
48:22 なおわたしは一つの分を兄弟よりも多くあなたに与える。これはわたしがつるぎと弓とを持ってアモリびとの手から取ったものである」。
48:22 Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
49:1 ヤコブはその子らを呼んで言った、「集まりなさい。後の日に、あなたがたの上に起ることを、告げましょう、
49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
49:2 ヤコブの子らよ、集まって聞け。父イスラエルのことばを聞け。
49:2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, all of you sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
49:3 ルベンよ、あなたはわが長子、／わが勢い、わが力のはじめ、／威光のすぐれた者、権力のすぐれた者。
49:3 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
49:4 しかし、沸き立つ水のようだから、／もはや、すぐれた者ではあり得ない。あなたは父の床に上って汚した。ああ、あなたはわが寝床に上った。
49:4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father's bed; then defiled you it: he went up to my couch.
49:5 シメオンとレビとは兄弟。彼らのつるぎは暴虐の武器。
49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
49:6 わが魂よ、彼らの会議に臨むな。わが栄えよ、彼らのつどいに連なるな。彼らは怒りに任せて人を殺し、／ほしいままに雄牛の足の筋を切った。
49:6 O my soul, come not you into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not you united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they dug down a wall.
49:7 彼らの怒りは、激しいゆえにのろわれ、／彼らの憤りは、はなはだしいゆえにのろわれる。わたしは彼らをヤコブのうちに分け、イスラエルのうちに散らそう。
49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
49:8 ユダよ、兄弟たちはあなたをほめる。あなたの手は敵のくびを押え、／父の子らはあなたの前に身をかがめるであろう。
49:8 Judah, you are he whom your brethren shall praise: your hand shall be in the neck of yours enemies; your father's children shall bow down before you.
49:9 ユダは、ししの子。わが子よ、あなたは獲物をもって上って来る。彼は雄じしのようにうずくまり、／雌じしのように身を伏せる。だれがこれを起すことができよう。
49:9 Judah is a lion's offspring: from the prey, my son, you are gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
49:10 つえはユダを離れず、／立法者のつえはその足の間を離れることなく、／シロの来る時までに及ぶであろう。もろもろの民は彼に従う。
49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
49:11 彼はそのろばの子をぶどうの木につなぎ、／その雌ろばの子を良きぶどうの木につなぐ。彼はその衣服をぶどう酒で洗い、／その着物をぶどうの汁で洗うであろう。
49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
49:12 その目はぶどう酒によって赤く、／その歯は乳によって白い。
49:12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
49:13 ゼブルンは海べに住み、／舟の泊まる港となって、／その境はシドンに及ぶであろう。
49:13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
49:14 イッサカルはたくましいろば、／彼は羊のおりの間に伏している。
49:14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
49:15 彼は定住の地を見て良しとし、／その国を見て楽しとした。彼はその肩を下げてにない、／奴隷となって追い使われる。
49:15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
49:16 ダンはおのれの民をさばくであろう、／イスラエルのほかの部族のように。
49:16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
49:17 ダンは道のかたわらのへび、／道のほとりのまむし。馬のかかとをかんで、／乗る者をうしろに落すであろう。
49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
49:18 主よ、わたしはあなたの救を待ち望む。
49:18 I have waited for your salvation, O LORD.
49:19 ガドには略奪者が迫る。しかし彼はかえって敵のかかとに迫るであろう。
49:19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
49:20 アセルはその食物がゆたかで、／王の美味をいだすであろう。
49:20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
49:21 ナフタリは放たれた雌じか、／彼は美しい子じかを生むであろう。
49:21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he gives goodly words.
49:22 ヨセフは実を結ぶ若木、／泉のほとりの実を結ぶ若木。その枝は、かきねを越えるであろう。
49:22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
49:23 射る者は彼を激しく攻め、／彼を射、彼をいたく悩ました。
49:23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
49:24 しかし彼の弓はなお強く、／彼の腕は素早い。これはヤコブの全能者の手により、／イスラエルの岩なる牧者の名により、
49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
49:25 あなたを助ける父の神により、／また上なる天の祝福、／下に横たわる淵の祝福、／乳ぶさと胎の祝福をもって、／あなたを恵まれる全能者による。
49:25 Even by the God of your father, who shall help you; and by the Almighty, who shall bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
49:26 あなたの父の祝福は永遠の山の祝福にまさり、／永久の丘の賜物にまさる。これらの祝福はヨセフのかしらに帰し、／その兄弟たちの君たる者の頭の頂に帰する。
49:26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my conceivers unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
49:27 ベニヤミンはかき裂くおおかみ、／朝にその獲物を食らい、／夕にその分捕物を分けるであろう」。
49:27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
49:28 すべてこれらはイスラエルの十二の部族である。そしてこれは彼らの父が彼らに語り、彼らを祝福したもので、彼は祝福すべきところに従って、彼らおのおのを祝福した。
49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spoke unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
49:29 彼はまた彼らに命じて言った、「わたしはわが民に加えられようとしている。あなたがたはヘテびとエフロンの畑にあるほら穴に、わたしの先祖たちと共にわたしを葬ってください。
49:29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
49:30 そのほら穴はカナンの地のマムレの東にあるマクペラの畑にあり、アブラハムがヘテびとエフロンから畑と共に買い取り、所有の墓地としたもので、
49:30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
49:31 そこにアブラハムと妻サラとが葬られ、イサクと妻リベカもそこに葬られたが、わたしはまたそこにレアを葬った。
49:31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
49:32 あの畑とその中にあるほら穴とはヘテの人々から買ったものです」。
49:32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
49:33 こうしてヤコブは子らに命じ終って、足を床におさめ、息絶えて、その民に加えられた。
49:33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the spirit, and was gathered unto his people.
50:1 ヨセフは父の顔に伏して泣き、口づけした。
50:1 And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.
50:2 そしてヨセフは彼のしもべである医者たちに、父に薬を塗ることを命じたので、医者たちはイスラエルに薬を塗った。
50:2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.
50:3 このために四十日を費した。薬を塗るにはこれほどの日数を要するのである。エジプトびとは七十日の間、彼のために泣いた。
50:3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.
50:4 彼のために泣く日が過ぎて、ヨセフはパロの家の者に言った、「今もしわたしがあなたがたの前に恵みを得るなら、どうかパロに伝えてください。
50:4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
50:5 『わたしの父はわたしに誓わせて言いました「わたしはやがて死にます。カナンの地に、わたしが掘って置いた墓に葬ってください」。それで、どうかわたしを上って行かせ、父を葬らせてください。そうすれば、わたしはまた帰ってきます』」。
50:5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray you, and bury my father, and I will come again.
50:6 パロは言った、「あなたの父があなたに誓わせたように上って行って彼を葬りなさい」。
50:6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury your father, according as he made you swear.
50:7 そこでヨセフは父を葬るために上って行った。彼と共に上った者はパロのもろもろの家来たち、パロの家の長老たち、エジプトの国のもろもろの長老たち、
50:7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
50:8 ヨセフの全家とその兄弟たち及びその父の家族であった。ただ子供と羊と牛はゴセンの地に残した。
50:8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
50:9 また戦車と騎兵も彼と共に上ったので、その行列はたいそう盛んであった。
50:9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.
50:10 彼らはヨルダンの向こうのアタデの打ち場に行き着いて、そこで大いに嘆き、非常に悲しんだ。そしてヨセフは七日の間父のために嘆いた。
50:10 And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
50:11 その地の住民、カナンびとがアタデの打ち場の嘆きを見て、「これはエジプトびとの大いなる嘆きだ」と言ったので、その所の名はアベル・ミツライムと呼ばれた。これはヨルダンの向こうにある。
50:11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.
50:12 ヤコブの子らは命じられたようにヤコブにおこなった。
50:12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:
50:13 すなわちその子らは彼をカナンの地へ運んで行って、マクペラの畑のほら穴に葬った。このほら穴はマムレの東にあって、アブラハムがヘテびとエフロンから畑と共に買って、所有の墓地としたものである。
50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
50:14 ヨセフは父を葬った後、その兄弟たち及びすべて父を葬るために一緒に上った者と共にエジプトに帰った。
50:14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
50:15 ヨセフの兄弟たちは父の死んだのを見て言った、「ヨセフはことによるとわれわれを憎んで、われわれが彼にしたすべての悪に、仕返しするに違いない」。
50:15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will possibly hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
50:16 そこで彼らはことづけしてヨセフに言った、「あなたの父は死ぬ前に命じて言われました、
50:16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Your father did command before he died, saying,
50:17 『おまえたちはヨセフに言いなさい、「あなたの兄弟たちはあなたに悪をおこなったが、どうかそのとがと罪をゆるしてやってください」』。今どうかあなたの父の神に仕えるしもべらのとがをゆるしてください」。ヨセフはこの言葉を聞いて泣いた。
50:17 So shall all of you say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the trespass of your brethren, and their sin; for they did unto you evil: and now, we pray you, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.
50:18 やがて兄弟たちもきて、彼の前に伏して言った、「このとおり、わたしたちはあなたのしもべです」。
50:18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be your servants.
50:19 ヨセフは彼らに言った、「恐れることはいりません。わたしが神に代ることができましょうか。
50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
50:20 あなたがたはわたしに対して悪をたくらんだが、神はそれを良きに変らせて、今日のように多くの民の命を救おうと計らわれました。
50:20 But as for you, all of you thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
50:21 それゆえ恐れることはいりません。わたしはあなたがたとあなたがたの子供たちを養いましょう」。彼は彼らを慰めて、親切に語った。
50:21 Now therefore fear all of you not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly unto them.
50:22 このようにしてヨセフは父の家族と共にエジプトに住んだ。そしてヨセフは百十年生きながらえた。
50:22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.
50:23 ヨセフはエフライムの三代の子孫を見た。マナセの子マキルの子らも生れてヨセフのひざの上に置かれた。
50:23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
50:24 ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしはやがて死にます。神は必ずあなたがたを顧みて、この国から連れ出し、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓われた地に導き上られるでしょう」。
50:24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
50:25 さらにヨセフは、「神は必ずあなたがたを顧みられる。その時、あなたがたはわたしの骨をここから携え上りなさい」と言ってイスラエルの子らに誓わせた。
50:25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and all of you shall carry up my bones from behind.
50:26 こうしてヨセフは百十歳で死んだ。彼らはこれに薬を塗り、棺に納めて、エジプトに置いた。
50:26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
