39:1 Y LLEVADO José á Egipto, comprólo Potiphar, eunuco de Faraón, capitán de los de la guardia, varón Egipcio, de mano de los Ismaelitas que lo habían llevado allá.

39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

39:2 Mas Jehová fué con José, y fué varón prosperado: y estaba en la casa de su señor el Egipcio.

39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

39:3 Y vió su señor que Jehová era con él, y que todo lo que él hacía, Jehová lo hacía prosperar en su mano.

39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

39:4 Así halló José gracia en sus ojos, y servíale; y él le hizo mayordomo de su casa, y entregó en su poder todo lo que tenía.

39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

39:5 Y aconteció que, desde cuando le dió el encargo de su casa, y de todo lo que tenía, Jehová bendijo la casa del Egipcio á causa de José; y la bendición de Jehová fué sobre todo lo que tenía, así en casa como en el campo.

39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

39:6 Y dejó todo lo que tenía en mano de José; ni con él sabía de nada más que del pan que comía. Y era José de hermoso semblante y bella presencia.

39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

39:7 Y aconteció después de esto, que la mujer de su señor puso sus ojos en José, y dijo: Duerme conmigo.

39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

39:8 Y él no quiso, y dijo á la mujer de su señor: He aquí que mi señor no sabe conmigo lo que hay en casa, y ha puesto en mi mano todo lo que tiene:

39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master knows not what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand;

39:9 No hay otro mayor que yo en esta casa, y ninguna cosa me ha reservado sino á ti, por cuanto tú eres su mujer; ¿cómo, pues, haría yo este grande mal y pecaría contra Dios?

39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back any thing from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

39:10 Y fué que hablando ella á José cada día, y no escuchándola él para acostarse al lado de ella, para estar con ella.

39:10 And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

39:11 Aconteció que entró él un día en casa para hacer su oficio, y no había nadie de los de casa allí en casa.

39:11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

39:12 Y asiólo ella por su ropa, diciendo: Duerme conmigo. Entonces dejóla él su ropa en las manos, y huyó, y salióse fuera.

39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

39:13 Y acaeció que cuando vió ella que le había dejado su ropa en sus manos, y había huído fuera,

39:13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

39:14 Llamó á los de casa, y hablóles diciendo: Mirad, nos ha traído un Hebreo, para que hiciese burla de nosotros: vino él á mí para dormir conmigo, y yo dí grandes voces;

39:14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spoke unto them, saying, See, he has brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

39:15 Y viendo que yo alzaba la voz y gritaba, dejó junto á mí su ropa, y huyó, y salióse fuera.

39:15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

39:16 Y ella puso junto á sí la ropa de él, hasta que vino su señor á su casa.

39:16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

39:17 Entonces le habló ella semejantes palabras, diciendo: El siervo Hebreo que nos trajiste, vino á mí para deshonrarme;

39:17 And she spoke unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which you have brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

39:18 Y como yo alcé mi voz y grite, él dejó su ropa junto á mí, y huyó fuera.

39:18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.

39:19 Y sucedió que como oyó su señor las palabras que su mujer le hablara, diciendo: Así me ha tratado tu siervo; encendióse su furor.

39:19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke unto him, saying, After this manner did your servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

39:20 Y tomó su señor á José, y púsole en la casa de la cárcel, donde estaban los presos del rey, y estuvo allí en la casa de la cárcel.

39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

39:21 Mas Jehová fué con José, y extendió á él su misericordia, y dióle gracia en ojos del principal de la casa de la cárcel.

39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

39:22 Y el principal de la casa de la cárcel entregó en mano de José todos los presos que había en aquella prisión; todo lo que hacían allí, él lo hacía.

39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

39:23 No veía el principal de la cárcel cosa alguna que en su mano estaba; porque Jehová era con él, y lo que él hacía, Jehová lo prosperaba.

39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

40:1 Y ACONTECIO después de estas cosas, que el copero del rey de Egipto y el panadero delinquieron contra su señor el rey de Egipto.

40:1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

40:2 Y enojóse Faraón contra sus dos eunucos, contra el principal de los coperos, y contra el principal de los panaderos:

40:2 And Pharaoh was angry against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

40:3 Y púsolos en prisión en la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, en la casa de la cárcel donde José estaba preso.

40:3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

40:4 Y el capitán de los de la guardia dió cargo de ellos á José, y él les servía: y estuvieron días en la prisión.

40:4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

40:5 Y ambos á dos, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto, que estaban arrestados en la prisión, vieron un sueño, cada uno su sueño en una misma noche, cada uno conforme á la declaración de su sueño.

40:5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.

40:6 Y vino á ellos José por la mañana, y mirólos, y he aquí que estaban tristes.

40:6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.

40:7 Y él preguntó á aquellos eunucos de Faraón, que estaban con él en la prisión de la casa de su señor, diciendo: ¿Por qué parecen hoy mal vuestros semblantes?

40:7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look all of you so sadly to day?

40:8 Y ellos le dijeron: Hemos tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo declare. Entonces les dijo José: ¿No son de Dios las declaraciones? Contádmelo ahora.

40:8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

40:9 Entonces el principal de los coperos contó su sueño á José, y díjole: Yo soñaba que veía una vid delante de mí,

40:9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

40:10 Y en la vid tres sarmientos; y ella como que brotaba, y arrojaba su flor, viniendo á madurar sus racimos de uvas:

40:10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

40:11 Y que la copa de Faraón estaba en mi mano, y tomaba yo las uvas, y las exprimía en la copa de Faraón, y daba yo la copa en mano de Faraón.

40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

40:12 Y díjole José: Esta es su declaración: Los tres sarmientos son tres días:

40:12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:

40:13 Al cabo de tres días Faraón te hará levantar cabeza, y te restituirá á tu puesto: y darás la copa á Faraón en su mano, como solías cuando eras su copero.

40:13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up yours head, and restore you unto your place: and you shall deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when you were his butler.

40:14 Acuérdate, pues, de mí para contigo cuando tuvieres ese bien, y ruégote que uses conmigo de misericordia, y hagas mención de mí á Faraón, y me saques de esta casa:

40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with you, and show kindness, I pray you, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

40:15 Porque hurtado he sido de la tierra de los Hebreos; y tampoco he hecho aquí porqué me hubiesen de poner en la cárcel.

40:15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

40:16 Y viendo el principal de los panaderos que había declarado para bien, dijo á José: También yo soñaba que veía tres canastillos blancos sobre mi cabeza;

40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:

40:17 Y en el canastillo más alto había de todas las viandas de Faraón, obra de panadero; y que las aves las comían del canastillo de sobre mi cabeza.

40:17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of baked food for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.

40:18 Entonces respondió José, y dijo: Esta es su declaración: Los tres canastillos tres días son;

40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:

40:19 Al cabo de tres días quitará Faraón tu cabeza de sobre ti, y te hará colgar en la horca, y las aves comerán tu carne de sobre ti.

40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up your head from off you, and shall hang you on a tree; and the birds shall eat your flesh from off you.

40:20 Y fué el tercero día el día del nacimiento de Faraón, é hizo banquete á todos sus sirvientes: y alzó la cabeza del principal de los coperos, y la cabeza del principal de los panaderos, entre sus servidores.

40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

40:21 E hizo volver á su oficio al principal de los coperos; y dió él la copa en mano de Faraón.

40:21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:

40:22 Mas hizo ahorcar al principal de los panaderos, como le había declarado José.

40:22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

40:23 Y el principal de los coperos no se acordó de José, sino que le olvidó.

40:23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgotten about him.

41:1 Y ACONTECIO que pasados dos años tuvo Faraón un sueño: Parecíale que estaba junto al río;

41:1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

41:2 Y que del río subían siete vacas, hermosas á la vista, y muy gordas, y pacían en el prado:

41:2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured cattle and well fed; and they fed in a meadow.

41:3 Y que otras siete vacas subían tras ellas del río, de fea vista, y enjutas de carne, y se pararon cerca de las vacas hermosas á la orilla del río:

41:3 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and thin; and stood by the other cattle upon the brink of the river.

41:4 Y que las vacas de fea vista y enjutas de carne devoraban á las siete vacas hermosas y muy gordas. Y despertó Faraón.

41:4 And the ill favoured and thin cattle did eat up the seven well favoured and fat cattle. So Pharaoh awoke.

41:5 Durmióse de nuevo, y soñó la segunda vez: Que siete espigas llenas y hermosas subían de una sola caña:

41:5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

41:6 Y que otras siete espigas menudas y abatidas del Solano, salían después de ellas:

41:6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

41:7 Y las siete espigas menudas devoraban á las siete espigas gruesas y llenas. Y despertó Faraón, y he aquí que era sueño.

41:7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

41:8 Y acaeció que á la mañana estaba agitado su espíritu; y envió é hizo llamar á todos los magos de Egipto, y á todos sus sabios: y contóles Faraón sus sueños, mas no había quien á Faraón los declarase.

41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

41:9 Entonces el principal de los coperos habló á Faraón, diciendo: Acuérdome hoy de mis faltas:

41:9 Then spoke the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

41:10 Faraón se enojó contra sus siervos, y á mí me echó á la prisión de la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, á mí y al principal de los panaderos:

41:10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:

41:11 Y yo y él vimos un sueño una misma noche: cada uno soñó conforme á la declaración de su sueño.

41:11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

41:12 Y estaba allí con nosotros un mozo Hebreo, sirviente del capitán de los de la guardia; y se lo contamos, y él nos declaró nuestros sueños, y declaró á cada uno conforme á su sueño.

41:12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

41:13 Y aconteció que como él nos declaró, así fué: á mí me hizo volver á mi puesto, é hizo colgar al otro.

41:13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

41:14 Entonces Faraón envió y llamó á José; é hiciéronle salir corriendo de la cárcel, y le cortaron el pelo, y mudaron sus vestidos, y vino á Faraón.

41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

41:15 Y dijo Faraón á José: Yo he tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo declare; mas he oído decir de ti, que oyes sueños para declararlos.

41:15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of you, that you can understand a dream to interpret it.

41:16 Y respondió José á Faraón, diciendo: No está en mí; Dios será el que responda paz á Faraón.

41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

41:17 Entonces Faraón dijo á José: En mi sueño parecíame que estaba á la orilla del río:

41:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

41:18 Y que del río subían siete vacas de gruesas carnes y hermosa apariencia, que pacían en el prado:

41:18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, well fed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:

41:19 Y que otras siete vacas subían después de ellas, flacas y de muy fea traza; tan extenuadas, que no he visto otras semejantes en toda la tierra de Egipto en fealdad:

41:19 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and thin, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

41:20 Y las vacas flacas y feas devoraban á las siete primeras vacas gruesas:

41:20 And the lean and the ill favoured cattle did eat up the first seven fat cattle:

41:21 Y entraban en sus entrañas, mas no se conocía que hubiese entrado en ellas, porque su parecer era aún malo, como de primero. Y yo desperté.

41:21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

41:22 Vi también soñando, que siete espigas subían en una misma caña llenas y hermosas;

41:22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

41:23 Y que otras siete espigas menudas, marchitas, abatidas del Solano, subían después de ellas:

41:23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

41:24 Y las espigas menudas devoraban á las siete espigas hermosas: y helo dicho á los magos, mas no hay quien me lo declare.

41:24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

41:25 Entonces respondió José á Faraón: El sueño de Faraón es uno mismo: Dios ha mostrado á Faraón lo que va á hacer.

41:25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God has showed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

41:26 Las siete vacas hermosas siete años son; y las espigas hermosas son siete años: el sueño es uno mismo.

41:26 The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

41:27 También las siete vacas flacas y feas que subían tras ellas, son siete años; y las siete espigas menudas y marchitas del Solano, siete años serán de hambre.

41:27 And the seven thin and ill favoured cattle that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

41:28 Esto es lo que respondo á Faraón. Lo que Dios va á hacer, halo mostrado á Faraón.

41:28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he shows unto Pharaoh.

41:29 He aquí vienen siete años de grande hartura en toda la tierra de Egipto:

41:29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

41:30 Y levantarse han tras ellos siete años de hambre; y toda la hartura será olvidada en la tierra de Egipto; y el hambre consumirá la tierra;

41:30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

41:31 Y aquella abundancia no se echará de ver á causa del hambre siguiente, la cual será gravísima.

41:31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

41:32 Y el suceder el sueño á Faraón dos veces, significa que la cosa es firme de parte de Dios, y que Dios se apresura á hacerla.

41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

41:33 Por tanto, provéase ahora Faraón de un varón prudente y sabio, y póngalo sobre la tierra de Egipto.

41:33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

41:34 Haga esto Faraón, y ponga gobernadores sobre el país, y quinte la tierra de Egipto en los siete años de la hartura;

41:34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven abundant years.

41:35 Y junten toda la provisión de estos buenos años que vienen, y alleguen el trigo bajo la mano de Faraón para mantenimiento de las ciudades; y guárdenlo.

41:35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

41:36 Y esté aquella provisión en depósito para el país, para los siete años del hambre que serán en la tierra de Egipto; y el país no perecerá de hambre.

41:36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

41:37 Y el negocio pareció bien á Faraón, y á sus siervos.

41:37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

41:38 Y dijo Faraón á sus siervos: ¿Hemos de hallar otro hombre como éste, en quien haya espíritu de Dios?

41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

41:39 Y dijo Faraón á José: Pues que Dios te ha hecho saber todo esto, no hay entendido ni sabio como tú:

41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God has showed you all this, there is none so discreet and wise as you are:

41:40 Tú serás sobre mi casa, y por tu dicho se gobernará todo mi pueblo: solamente en el trono seré yo mayor que tú.

41:40 You shall be over my house, and according unto your word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than you.

41:41 Dijo más Faraón á José: He aquí yo te he puesto sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

41:41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.

41:42 Entonces Faraón quitó su anillo de su mano, y púsolo en la mano de José, é hízole vestir de ropas de lino finísimo, y puso un collar de oro en su cuello;

41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

41:43 E hízolo subir en su segundo carro, y pregonaron delante de él: Doblad la rodilla: y púsole sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.

41:43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

41:44 Y dijo Faraón á José: Yo Faraón; y sin ti ninguno alzará su mano ni su pie en toda la tierra de Egipto.

41:44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

41:45 Y llamó Faraón el nombre de José, Zaphnath-paaneah; y dióle por mujer á Asenath, hija de Potipherah, sacerdote de On. Y salió José por toda la tierra de Egipto.

41:45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

41:46 Y era José de edad de treinta años cuando fué presentado delante de Faraón, rey de Egipto: y salió José de delante de Faraón, y transitó por toda la tierra de Egipto.

41:46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

41:47 E hizo la tierra en aquellos siete años de hartura á montones.

41:47 And in the seven abundant years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

41:48 Y él juntó todo el mantenimiento de los siete años que fueron en la tierra de Egipto, y guardó mantenimiento en las ciudades, poniendo en cada ciudad el mantenimiento del campo de sus alrededores.

41:48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

41:49 Y acopió José trigo como arena de la mar, mucho en extremo, hasta no poderse contar, porque no tenía número.

41:49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.

41:50 Y nacieron á José dos hijos antes que viniese el primer año del hambre, los cuales le parió Asenath, hija de Potipherah, sacerdote de On.

41:50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

41:51 Y llamó José el nombre del primogénito Manasés; porque Dios (dijo) me hizo olvidar todo mi trabajo, y toda la casa de mi padre.

41:51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

41:52 Y el nombre del segundo llamólo Ephraim; porque Dios (dijo) me hizo fértil en la tierra de mi aflicción.

41:52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

41:53 Y cumpliéronse los siete años de la hartura, que hubo en la tierra de Egipto.

41:53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

41:54 Y comenzaron á venir los siete años del hambre, como José había dicho: y hubo hambre en todos los países, mas en toda la tierra de Egipto había pan.

41:54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

41:55 Y cuando se sintió el hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto, el pueblo clamó á Faraón por pan. Y dijo Faraón á todos los Egipcios: Id á José, y haced lo que él os dijere.

41:55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he says to you, do.

41:56 Y el hambre estaba por toda la extensión del país. Entonces abrió José todo granero donde había, y vendía á los Egipcios; porque había crecido el hambre en la tierra de Egipto.

41:56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

41:57 Y toda la tierra venía á Egipto para comprar de José, porque por toda la tierra había crecido el hambre.

41:57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph in order to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

42:1 Y VIENDO Jacob que en Egipto había alimentos, dijo á sus hijos: ¿Por qué os estáis mirando?

42:1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do all of you look one upon another?

42:2 Y dijo: He aquí, yo he oído que hay víveres en Egipto; descended allá, y comprad de allí para nosotros, para que podamos vivir, y no nos muramos.

42:2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

42:3 Y descendieron los diez hermanos de José á comprar trigo á Egipto.

42:3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

42:4 Mas Jacob no envió á Benjamín hermano de José con sus hermanos; porque dijo: No sea acaso que le acontezca algún desastre.

42:4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest possibly mischief befall him.

42:5 Y vinieron los hijos de Israel á comprar entre los que venían: porque había hambre en la tierra de Canaán.

42:5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

42:6 Y José era el señor de la tierra, que vendía á todo el pueblo de la tierra: y llegaron los hermanos de José, é inclináronse á él rostro por tierra.

42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

42:7 Y José como vió á sus hermanos, conociólos; mas hizo que no los conocía, y hablóles ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán á comprar alimentos.

42:7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spoke roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come all of you? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

42:8 José, pues, conoció á sus hermanos; pero ellos no le conocieron.

42:8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

42:9 Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido de ellos, y díjoles: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

42:9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, All of you are spies; to see the nakedness of the land all of you are come.

42:10 Y ellos le respondieron: No, señor mío: mas tus siervos han venido á comprar alimentos.

42:10 And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are your servants come.

42:11 Todos nosotros somos hijos de un varón: somos hombres de verdad: tus siervos nunca fueron espías.

42:11 We are all one man's sons; we are true men, your servants are no spies.

42:12 Y él les dijo: No; á ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

42:12 And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land all of you are come.

42:13 Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos somos doce hermanos, hijos de un varón en la tierra de Canaán; y he aquí el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y otro no parece.

42:13 And they said, Your servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

42:14 Y José les dijo: Eso es lo que os he dicho, afirmando que sois espías:

42:14 And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spoke unto you, saying, All of you are spies:

42:15 En esto seréis probados: Vive Faraón que no saldréis de aquí, sino cuando vuestro hermano menor aquí viniere.

42:15 Hereby all of you shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh all of you shall not go forth behind, except your youngest brother come here.

42:16 Enviad uno de vosotros, y traiga á vuestro hermano; y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad con vosotros: y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías.

42:16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and all of you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely all of you are spies.

42:17 Y juntólos en la cárcel por tres días.

42:17 And he put them all together into ward three days.

42:18 Y al tercer día díjoles José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo á Dios:

42:18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

42:19 Si sois hombres de verdad, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos; y vosotros id, llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestra casa:

42:19 If all of you be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go all of you, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

42:20 Pero habéis de traerme á vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así.

42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and all of you shall not die. And they did so.

42:21 Y decían el uno al otro: Verdaderamente hemos pecado contra nuestro hermano, que vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no le oímos: por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia.

42:21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

42:22 Entonces Rubén les respondió, diciendo: ¿No os hablé yo y dije: No pequéis contra el mozo; y no escuchásteis? He aquí también su sangre es requerida.

42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spoke I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and all of you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

42:23 Y ellos no sabían que los entendía José, porque había intérprete entre ellos.

42:23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spoke unto them by an interpreter.

42:24 Y apartóse él de ellos, y lloró: después volvió á ellos, y les habló, y tomó de entre ellos á Simeón, y aprisionóle á vista de ellos.

42:24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

42:25 Y mandó José que llenaran sus sacos de trigo, y devolviesen el dinero de cada uno de ellos, poniéndolo en su saco, y les diesen comida para el camino: é hízose así con ellos.

42:25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

42:26 Y ellos pusieron su trigo sobre sus asnos, y fuéronse de allí.

42:26 And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

42:27 Y abriendo uno de ellos su saco para dar de comer á su asno en el mesón, vió su dinero que estaba en la boca de su costal.

42:27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass animal food in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.

42:28 Y dijo á sus hermanos: Mi dinero se me ha devuelto, y aun helo aquí en mi saco. Sobresaltóseles entonces el corazón, y espantados dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que nos ha hecho Dios?

42:28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God has done unto us?

42:29 Y venidos á Jacob su padre en tierra de Canaán, contáronle todo lo que les había acaecido, diciendo:

42:29 And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

42:30 Aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos habló ásperamente, y nos trató como á espías de la tierra:

42:30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

42:31 Y nosotros le dijimos: Somos hombres de verdad, nunca fuimos espías:

42:31 And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

42:32 Somos doce hermanos, hijos de nuestro padre; uno no parece, y el menor está hoy con nuestro padre en la tierra de Canaán.

42:32 We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

42:33 Y aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos dijo: En esto conoceré que sois hombres de verdad; dejad conmigo uno de vuestros hermanos, y tomad para el hambre de vuestras casas, y andad,

42:33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that all of you are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

42:34 Y traedme á vuestro hermano el menor, para que yo sepa que no sois espías, sino hombres de verdad: así os daré á vuestro hermano, y negociaréis en la tierra.

42:34 And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that all of you are no spies, but that all of you are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and all of you shall trade in the land.

42:35 Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero: y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor.

42:35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

42:36 Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Habéisme privado de mis hijos; José no parece, ni Simeón tampoco, y á Benjamín le llevaréis: contra mí son todas estas cosas.

42:36 And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have all of you bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and all of you will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

42:37 Y Rubén habló á su padre, diciendo: Harás morir á mis dos hijos, si no te lo volviere; entrégalo en mi mano, que yo lo volveré á ti.

42:37 And Reuben spoke unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to you: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to you again.

42:38 Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros; que su hermano es muerto, y él solo ha quedado: y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

42:38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which all of you go, then shall all of you bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

43:1 Y EL hambre era grande en la tierra.

43:1 And the famine was sore in the land.

43:2 Y aconteció que como acabaron de comer el trigo que trajeron de Egipto, díjoles su padre: Volved, y comprad para nosotros un poco de alimento.

43:2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

43:3 Y respondió Judá, diciendo: Aquel varón nos protestó con ánimo resuelto, diciendo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

43:3 And Judah spoke unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, All of you shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

43:4 Si enviares á nuestro hermano con nosotros, descenderemos y te compraremos alimento:

43:4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food:

43:5 Pero si no le enviares, no descenderemos: porque aquel varón nos dijo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

43:5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, All of you shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

43:6 Y dijo Israel: ¿Por qué me hicisteis tanto mal, declarando al varón que teníais más hermano?

43:6 And Israel said, Wherefore dealt all of you so ill with me, as to tell the man whether all of you had yet a brother?

43:7 Y ellos respondieron: Aquel varón nos preguntó expresamente por nosotros, y por nuestra parentela, diciendo: ¿Vive aún vuestro padre? ¿tenéis otro hermano? y declarámosle conforme á estas palabras. ¿Podíamos nosotros saber que había de decir: Haced venir á vuestro hermano?

43:7 And they said, The man asked us strictly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have all of you another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

43:8 Entonces Judá dijo á Israel su padre: Envía al mozo conmigo, y nos levantaremos é iremos, á fin que vivamos y no muramos nosotros, y tú, y nuestros niños.

43:8 And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

43:9 Yo lo fío; á mí me pedirás cuenta de él: si yo no te lo volviere y lo pusiere delante de ti, seré para ti el culpante todos los días:

43:9 I will be guarantor for him; of my hand shall you require him: if I bring him not unto you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever:

43:10 Que si no nos hubiéramos detenido, cierto ahora hubiéramos ya vuelto dos veces.

43:10 For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.

43:11 Entonces Israel su padre les respondió: Pues que así es, hacedlo; tomad de lo mejor de la tierra en vuestros vasos, y llevad á aquel varón un presente, un poco de bálsamo, y un poco de miel, aromas y mirra, nueces y almendras.

43:11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

43:12 Y tomad en vuestras manos doblado dinero, y llevad en vuestra mano el dinero vuelto en las bocas de vuestros costales; quizá fué yerro.

43:12 And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; possibly it was an oversight:

43:13 Tomad también á vuestro hermano, y levantaos, y volved á aquel varón.

43:13 Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:

43:14 Y el Dios Omnipotente os dé misericordias delante de aquel varón, y os suelte al otro vuestro hermano, y á este Benjamín. Y si he de ser privado de mis hijos, séalo.

43:14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

43:15 Entonces tomaron aquellos varones el presente, y tomaron en su mano doblado dinero, y á Benjamín; y se levantaron, y descendieron á Egipto, y presentáronse delante de José.

43:15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

43:16 Y vió José á Benjamín con ellos, y dijo al mayordomo de su casa: Mete en casa á esos hombres, y degüella víctima, y aderéza la; porque estos hombres comerán conmigo al medio día.

43:16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

43:17 E hizo el hombre como José dijo; y metió aquel hombre á los hombres en casa de José.

43:17 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.

43:18 Y aquellos hombres tuvieron temor, cuando fueron metidos en casa de José, y decían: Por el dinero que fué vuelto en nuestros costales la primera vez nos han metido aquí, para revolver contra nosotros, y dar sobre nosotros, y tomarnos por siervos á nosotros, y á nuestros asnos.

43:18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

43:19 Y llegáronse al mayordomo de la casa de José, y le hablaron á la entrada de la casa.

43:19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,

43:20 Y dijeron: Ay, señor mío, nosotros en realidad de verdad descendimos al principio á comprar alimentos:

43:20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:

43:21 Y aconteció que como vinimos al mesón y abrimos nuestros costales, he aquí el dinero de cada uno estaba en la boca de su costal, nuestro dinero en su justo peso; y hémoslo vuelto en nuestras manos.

43:21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

43:22 Hemos también traído en nuestras manos otro dinero para comprar alimentos: nosotros no sabemos quién haya puesto nuestro dinero en nuestros costales.

43:22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

43:23 Y él respondió: Paz á vosotros, no temáis; vuestro Dios y el Dios de vuestro padre os dió el tesoro en vuestros costales: vuestro dinero vino á mí. Y sacó á Simeón á ellos.

43:23 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

43:24 Y metió aquel varón á aquellos hombres en casa de José: y dióles agua, y lavaron sus pies: y dió de comer á sus asnos.

43:24 And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses animal food.

43:25 Y ellos prepararon el presente entretanto que venía José al medio día, porque habían oído que allí habían de comer pan.

43:25 And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.

43:26 Y vino José á casa, y ellos le trajeron el presente que tenían en su mano dentro de casa, é inclináronse á él hasta tierra.

43:26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

43:27 Entonces les preguntó él cómo estaban, y dijo: ¿Vuestro padre, el anciano que dijisteis, lo pasa bien? ¿vive todavía?

43:27 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom all of you spoke? Is he yet alive?

43:28 Y ellos respondieron: Bien va á tu siervo nuestro padre; aun vive. Y se inclinaron, é hicieron reverencia.

43:28 And they answered, Your servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made reverence.

43:29 Y alzando él sus ojos vió á Benjamín su hermano, hijo de su madre, y dijo: ¿Es éste vuestro hermano menor, de quien me hablasteis? Y dijo: Dios tenga misericordia de ti, hijo mío.

43:29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom all of you spoke unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto you, my son.

43:30 Entonces José se apresuró, porque se conmovieron sus entrañas á causa de su hermano, y procuró donde llorar: y entróse en su cámara, y lloró allí.

43:30 And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

43:31 Y lavó su rostro, y salió fuera, y reprimióse, y dijo: Poned pan.

43:31 And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.

43:32 Y pusieron para él aparte, y separadamente para ellos, y aparte para los Egipcios que con él comían: porque los Egipcios no pueden comer pan con los Hebreos, lo cual es abominación á los Egipcios.

43:32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

43:33 Y sentáronse delante de él, el mayor conforme á su mayoría, y el menor conforme á su menoría; y estaban aquellos hombres atónitos mirándose el uno al otro.

43:33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.

43:34 Y él tomó viandas de delante de sí para ellos; mas la porción de Benjamín era cinco veces como cualquiera de las de ellos. Y bebieron, y alegráronse con él.

43:34 And he took and sent portions unto them from before him: but Benjamin's portion was five times so much as any of their's. And they drank, and were merry with him.

44:1 Y MANDO José al mayordomo de su casa, diciendo: Hinche los costales de aquestos varones de alimentos, cuanto pudieren llevar, y pon el dinero de cada uno en la boca de su costal:

44:1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.

44:2 Y pondrás mi copa, la copa de plata, en la boca del costal del menor, con el dinero de su trigo. Y él hizo como dijo José.

44:2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

44:3 Venida la mañana, los hombres fueron despedidos con sus asnos.

44:3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

44:4 Habiendo ellos salido de la ciudad, de la que aun no se habían alejado, dijo José á su mayordomo: Levántate, y sigue á esos hombres; y cuando los alcanzares, diles: ¿Por qué habéis vuelto mal por bien?

44:4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when you do overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have all of you rewarded evil for good?

44:5 ¿No es ésta en la que bebe mi señor, y por la que suele adivinar? habéis hecho mal en lo que hicisteis.

44:5 Is not this it in which my lord drinks, and whereby indeed he divines? all of you have done evil in so doing.

44:6 Y como él los alcanzó, díjoles estas palabras.

44:6 And he overtook them, and he spoke unto them these same words.

44:7 Y ellos le respondieron: ¿Por qué dice mi señor tales cosas? Nunca tal hagan tus siervos.

44:7 And they said unto him, Wherefore says my lord these words? God forbid that your servants should do according to this thing:

44:8 He aquí, el dinero que hallamos en la boca de nuestros costales, te lo volvimos á traer desde la tierra de Canaán; ¿cómo, pues, habíamos de hurtar de casa de tu señor plata ni oro?

44:8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto you out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of your lord's house silver or gold?

44:9 Aquel de tus siervos en quien fuere hallada la copa, que muera, y aun nosotros seremos siervos de mi señor.

44:9 With whomsoever of your servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.

44:10 Y él dijo: También ahora sea conforme á vuestras palabras; aquél en quien se hallare, será mi siervo, y vosotros seréis sin culpa.

44:10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and all of you shall be blameless.

44:11 Ellos entonces se dieron prisa, y derribando cada uno su costal en tierra, abrió cada cual el costal suyo.

44:11 Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.

44:12 Y buscó; desde el mayor comenzó, y acabó en el menor; y la copa fué hallada en el costal de Benjamín.

44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.

44:13 Entonces ellos rasgaron sus vestidos, y cargó cada uno su asno, y volvieron á la ciudad.

44:13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.

44:14 Y llegó Judá con sus hermanos á casa de José, que aun estaba allí, y postráronse delante de él en tierra.

44:14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.

44:15 Y díjoles José: ¿Qué obra es esta que habéis hecho? ¿no sabéis que un hombre como yo sabe adivinar?

44:15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that all of you have done? know all of you not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

44:16 Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos á mi señor? ¿qué hablaremos? ¿ó con qué nos justificaremos? Dios ha hallado la maldad de tus siervos: he aquí, nosotros somos siervos de mi señor, nosotros, y también aquél en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa.

44:16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

44:17 Y él respondió: Nunca yo tal haga: el varón en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa, él será mi siervo; vosotros id en paz á vuestro padre.

44:17 And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

44:18 Entonces Judá se llegó á él, y dijo: Ay señor mío, ruégote que hable tu siervo una palabra en oídos de mi señor, y no se encienda tu enojo contra tu siervo, pues que tú eres como Faraón.

44:18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let your servant, I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not yours anger burn against your servant: for you are even as Pharaoh.

44:19 Mi señor preguntó á sus siervos, diciendo: ¿Tenéis padre ó hermano?

44:19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have all of you a father, or a brother?

44:20 Y nosotros respondimos á mi señor: Tenemos un padre anciano, y un mozo que le nació en su vejez, pequeño aún; y un hermano suyo murió, y él quedó solo de su madre, y su padre lo ama.

44:20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.

44:21 Y tú dijiste á tus siervos: Traédmelo, y pondré mis ojos sobre él.

44:21 And you said unto your servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

44:22 Y nosotros dijimos á mi señor: El mozo no puede dejar á su padre, porque si le dejare, su padre morirá.

44:22 And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

44:23 Y dijiste á tus siervos: Si vuestro hermano menor no descendiere con vosotros, no veáis más mi rostro.

44:23 And you said unto your servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, all of you shall see my face no more.

44:24 Aconteció pues, que como llegamos á mi padre tu siervo, contámosle las palabras de mi señor.

44:24 And it came to pass when we came up unto your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

44:25 Y dijo nuestro padre: Volved á comprarnos un poco de alimento.

44:25 And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.

44:26 Y nosotros respondimos: No podemos ir: si nuestro hermano fuere con nosotros, iremos; porque no podemos ver el rostro del varón, no estando con nosotros nuestro hermano el menor.

44:26 And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.

44:27 Entonces tu siervo mi padre nos dijo: Vosotros sabéis que dos me parió mi mujer;

44:27 And your servant my father said unto us, All of you know that my wife bare me two sons:

44:28 Y el uno salió de conmigo, y pienso de cierto que fué despedazado, y hasta ahora no le he visto;

44:28 And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:

44:29 Y si tomareis también éste de delante de mí, y le aconteciere algún desastre, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

44:29 And if all of you take this also from me, and mischief befall him, all of you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

44:30 Ahora, pues, cuando llegare yo á tu siervo mi padre, y el mozo no fuere conmigo, como su alma está ligada al alma de él,

44:30 Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;

44:31 Sucederá que cuando no vea al mozo, morirá: y tus siervos harán descender las canas de tu siervo nuestro padre con dolor á la sepultura.

44:31 It shall come to pass, when he sees that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and your servants shall bring down the gray hairs of your servant our father with sorrow to the grave.

44:32 Como tu siervo salió por fiador del mozo con mi padre, diciendo: Si no te lo volviere, entonces yo seré culpable para mi padre todos los días;

44:32 For your servant became guarantor for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto you, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

44:33 Ruégote por tanto que quede ahora tu siervo por el mozo por siervo de mi señor, y que el mozo vaya con sus hermanos.

44:33 Now therefore, I pray you, let your servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

44:34 Porque ¿cómo iré yo á mi padre sin el mozo? No podré, por no ver el mal que sobrevendrá á mi padre.

44:34 For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest possibly I see the evil that shall come on my father.

45:1 NO podía ya José contenerse delante de todos los que estaban al lado suyo, y clamó: Haced salir de conmigo á todos. Y no quedó nadie con él, al darse á conocer José á sus hermanos.

45:1 Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.

45:2 Entonces se dió á llorar á voz en grito; y oyeron los Egipcios, y oyó también la casa de Faraón.

45:2 And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.

45:3 Y dijo José á sus hermanos: Yo soy José: ¿vive aún mi padre? Y sus hermanos no pudieron responderle, porque estaban turbados delante de él.

45:3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; does my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

45:4 Entonces dijo José á sus hermanos: Llegaos ahora á mí. Y ellos se llegaron. Y él dijo: Yo soy José vuestro hermano el que vendisteis para Egipto.

45:4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom all of you sold into Egypt.

45:5 Ahora pues, no os entristezcáis, ni os pese de haberme vendido acá; que para preservación de vida me envió Dios delante de vosotros:

45:5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that all of you sold me here: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

45:6 Que ya ha habido dos años de hambre en medio de la tierra, y aun quedan cinco años en que ni habrá arada ni siega.

45:6 For these two years has the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earring nor harvest.

45:7 Y Dios me envió delante de vosotros, para que vosotros quedaseis en la tierra, y para daros vida por medio de grande salvamento.

45:7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

45:8 Así pues, no me enviasteis vosotros acá, sino Dios, que me ha puesto por padre de Faraón, y por señor de toda su casa, y por gobernador en toda la tierra de Egipto.

45:8 So now it was not you that sent me here, but God: and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

45:9 Daos priesa, id á mi padre y decidle: Así dice tu hijo José: Dios me ha puesto por señor de todo Egipto; ven á mí, no te detengas:

45:9 Haste all of you, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:

45:10 Y habitarás en la tierra de Gosén, y estarás cerca de mí, tú y tus hijos, y los hijos de tus hijos, tus ganados y tus vacas, y todo lo que tienes.

45:10 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near unto me, you, and your children, and your children's children, and your flocks, and your herds, and all that you have:

45:11 Y allí te alimentaré, pues aun quedan cinco años de hambre, porque no perezcas de pobreza tú y tu casa, y todo lo que tienes:

45:11 And there will I nourish you; for yet there are five years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty.

45:12 Y he aquí, vuestros ojos ven, y los ojos de mi hermano Benjamín, que mi boca os habla.

45:12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks unto you.

45:13 Haréis pues saber á mi padre toda mi gloria en Egipto, y todo lo que habéis visto: y daos priesa, y traed á mi padre acá.

45:13 And all of you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that all of you have seen; and all of you shall haste and bring down my father here.

45:14 Y echóse sobre el cuello de Benjamín su hermano, y lloró; y también Benjamín lloró sobre su cuello.

45:14 And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

45:15 Y besó á todos sus hermanos, y lloró sobre ellos: y después sus hermanos hablaron con él.

45:15 Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

45:16 Y oyóse la noticia en la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Los hermanos de José han venido. Y plugo en los ojos de Faraón y de sus siervos.

45:16 And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

45:17 Y dijo Faraón á José: Di á tus hermanos: Haced esto: cargad vuestras bestias, é id, volved á la tierra de Canaán;

45:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto your brethren, This do all of you; load your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;

45:18 Y tomad á vuestro padre y vuestras familias, y venid á mí, que yo os daré lo bueno de la tierra de Egipto y comeréis la grosura de la tierra.

45:18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and all of you shall eat the fat of the land.

45:19 Y tú manda: Haced esto: tomaos de la tierra de Egipto carros para vuestros niños y vuestras mujeres; y tomad á vuestro padre, y venid.

45:19 Now you are commanded, this do all of you; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

45:20 Y no se os dé nada de vuestras alhajas, porque el bien de la tierra de Egipto será vuestro.

45:20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt are yours.

45:21 E hiciéronlo así los hijos de Israel: y dióles José carros conforme á la orden de Faraón, y suministróles víveres para el camino.

45:21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.

45:22 A cada uno de todos ellos dió mudas de vestidos, y á Benjamín dió trescientas piezas de plata, y cinco mudas de vestidos.

45:22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.

45:23 Y á su padre envió esto: diez asnos cargados de lo mejor de Egipto, y diez asnas cargadas de trigo, y pan y comida, para su padre en el camino.

45:23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and food for his father by the way.

45:24 Y despidió á sus hermanos, y fuéronse. Y él les dijo: No riñáis por el camino.

45:24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that all of you fall not out by the way.

45:25 Y subieron de Egipto, y llegaron á la tierra de Canaán á Jacob su padre.

45:25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

45:26 Y diéronle las nuevas, diciendo: José vive aún; y él es señor en toda la tierra de Egipto. Y su corazón se desmayó; pues no los creía.

45:26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not.

45:27 Y ellos le contaron todas las palabras de José, que él les había hablado; y viendo él los carros que José enviaba para llevarlo, el espíritu de Jacob su padre revivió.

45:27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:

45:28 Entonces dijo Israel: Basta; José mi hijo vive todavía: iré, y le veré antes que yo muera.

45:28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

46:1 Y PARTIOSE Israel con todo lo que tenía, y vino á Beer-seba, y ofreció sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac.

46:1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.

46:2 Y habló Dios á Israel en visiones de noche, y dijo: Jacob, Jacob. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

46:2 And God spoke unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

46:3 Y dijo: Yo soy Dios, el Dios de tu padre; no temas de descender á Egipto, porque yo te pondré allí en gran gente.

46:3 And he said, I am God, the God of your father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation:

46:4 Yo descenderé contigo á Egipto, y yo también te haré volver: y José pondrá su mano sobre tus ojos.

46:4 I will go down with you into Egypt; and I will also surely bring you up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon yours eyes.

46:5 Y levantóse Jacob de Beer-seba; y tomaron los hijos de Israel á su padre Jacob, y á sus niños, y á sus mujeres, en los carros que Faraón había enviado para llevarlo.

46:5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

46:6 Y tomaron sus ganados, y su hacienda que había adquirido en la tierra de Canaán, y viniéronse á Egipto, Jacob, y toda su simiente consigo;

46:6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had got in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:

46:7 Sus hijos, y los hijos de sus hijos consigo; sus hijas, y las hijas de sus hijos, y á toda su simiente trajo consigo á Egipto.

46:7 His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.

46:8 Y estos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, que entraron en Egipto, Jacob y sus hijos: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob.

46:8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

46:9 Y los hijos de Rubén: Hanoch, y Phallu, y Hezrón, y Carmi.

46:9 And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.

46:10 Y los hijos de Simeón: Jemuel, y Jamín, y Ohad, y Jachîn, y Zohar, y Saúl, hijo de la Cananea.

46:10 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.

46:11 Y los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coath, y Merari.

46:11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

46:12 Y los hijos de Judá: Er, y Onán, y Sela, y Phares, y Zara: mas Er y Onán, murieron en la tierra de Canaán. Y los hijos de Phares fueron Hezrón y Hamul.

46:12 And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

46:13 Y los hijos de Issachâr: Thola, y Phua, y Job, y Simrón.

46:13 And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.

46:14 Y los hijos de Zabulón: Sered y Elón, y Jahleel.

46:14 And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.

46:15 Estos fueron los hijos de Lea, los que parió á Jacob en Padan-aram, y además su hija Dina: treinta y tres las almas todas de sus hijos é hijas.

46:15 These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.

46:16 Y los hijos de Gad: Ziphión, y Aggi, y Ezbón, y Suni, y Heri, y Arodi, y Areli.

46:16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.

46:17 Y los hijos de Aser: Jimna, é Ishua, é Isui y Beria, y Sera, hermana de ellos. Los hijos de Beria: Heber, y Malchîel.

46:17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.

46:18 Estos fueron los hijos de Zilpa, la que Labán dió á su hija Lea, y parió estos á Jacob; todas diez y seis almas.

46:18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.

46:19 Y los hijos de Rachêl, mujer de Jacob: José y Benjamín.

46:19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.

46:20 Y nacieron á José en la tierra de Egipto Manasés y Ephraim, los que le parió Asenath, hija de Potipherah, sacerdote de On.

46:20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

46:21 Y los hijos de Benjamín fueron Bela, y Bechêr y Asbel, y Gera, y Naamán, y Ehi, y Ros y Muppim, y Huppim, y Ard.

46:21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.

46:22 Estos fueron los hijos de Rachêl, que nacieron á Jacob: en todas, catorce almas.

46:22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

46:23 Y los hijos de Dan: Husim.

46:23 And the sons of Dan; Hushim.

46:24 Y los hijos de Nephtalí: Jahzeel, y Guni, y Jezer, y Shillem.

46:24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.

46:25 Estos fueron los hijos de Bilha, la que dió Labán á Rachêl su hija, y parió estos á Jacob; todas siete almas.

46:25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.

46:26 Todas las personas que vinieron con Jacob á Egipto, procedentes de sus lomos, sin las mujeres de los hijos de Jacob, todas las personas fueron sesenta y seis.

46:26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

46:27 Y los hijos de José, que le nacieron en Egipto, dos personas. Todas las almas de la casa de Jacob, que entraron en Egipto, fueron setenta.

46:27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.

46:28 Y envió á Judá delante de sí á José, para que le viniese á ver á Gosén; y llegaron á la tierra de Gosén.

46:28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

46:29 Y José unció su carro y vino á recibir á Israel su padre á Gosén; y se manifestó á él, y echóse sobre su cuello, y lloró sobre su cuello bastante.

46:29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

46:30 Entonces Israel dijo á José: Muera yo ahora, ya que he visto tu rostro, pues aun vives.

46:30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are yet alive.

46:31 Y José dijo á sus hermanos, y á la casa de su padre: Subiré y haré saber á Faraón, y diréle: Mis hermanos y la casa de mi padre, que estaban en la tierra de Canaán, han venido á mí;

46:31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and show Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

46:32 Y los hombres son pastores de ovejas, porque son hombres ganaderos: y han traído sus ovejas y sus vacas, y todo lo que tenían.

46:32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade has been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.

46:33 Y cuando Faraón os llamare y dijere: ¿cuál es vuestro oficio?

46:33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?

46:34 Entonces diréis: Hombres de ganadería han sido tus siervos desde nuestra mocedad hasta ahora, nosotros y nuestros padres; á fin que moréis en la tierra de Gosén, porque los Egipcios abominan todo pastor de ovejas.

46:34 That all of you shall say, Your servants' trade has been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that all of you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

47:1 Y JOSÉ vino, é hizo saber á Faraón, y dijo: Mi padre y mis hermanos, y sus ovejas y sus vacas, con todo lo que tienen, han venido de la tierra de Canaán, y he aquí, están en la tierra de Gosén.

47:1 Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

47:2 Y de los postreros de sus hermanos tomó cinco varones, y presentólos delante de Faraón.

47:2 And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

47:3 Y Faraón dijo á sus hermanos: ¿Cuál es vuestro oficio? Y ellos respondieron á Faraón: Pastores de ovejas son tus siervos, así nosotros como nuestros padres.

47:3 And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

47:4 Dijeron además á Faraón: Por morar en esta tierra hemos venido; porque no hay pasto para las ovejas de tus siervos, pues el hambre es grave en la tierra de Canaán: por tanto, te rogamos ahora que habiten tus siervos en la tierra de Gosén.

47:4 They said moreover unto Pharaoh, In order to sojourn in the land are we come; for your servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray you, let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

47:5 Entonces Faraón habló á José, diciendo: Tu padre y tus hermanos han venido á ti;

47:5 And Pharaoh spoke unto Joseph, saying, Your father and your brethren are come unto you:

47:6 La tierra de Egipto delante de ti está; en lo mejor de la tierra haz habitar á tu padre y á tus hermanos; habiten en la tierra de Gosén; y si entiendes que hay entre ellos hombres eficaces, ponlos por mayorales del ganado mío.

47:6 The land of Egypt is before you; in the best of the land make your father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if you know any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

47:7 Y José introdujo á su padre, y presentólo delante de Faraón; y Jacob bendijo á Faraón.

47:7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

47:8 Y dijo Faraón á Jacob: ¿Cuántos son los días de los años de tu vida?

47:8 And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old are you?

47:9 Y Jacob respondió á Faraón: Los días de los años de mi peregrinación son ciento treinta años; pocos y malos han sido los días de los años de mi vida, y no han llegado á los días de los años de la vida de mis padres en los días de su peregrinación.

47:9 And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

47:10 Y Jacob bendijo á Faraón, y salióse de delante de Faraón.

47:10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

47:11 Así José hizo habitar á su padre y á sus hermanos, y dióles posesión en la tierra de Egipto, en lo mejor de la tierra, en la tierra de Rameses como mandó Faraón.

47:11 And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

47:12 Y alimentaba José á su padre y á sus hermanos, y á toda la casa de su padre, de pan, hasta la boca del niño.

47:12 And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.

47:13 Y no había pan en toda la tierra, y el hambre era muy grave; por lo que desfalleció de hambre la tierra de Egipto y la tierra de Canaán.

47:13 And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

47:14 Y recogió José todo el dinero que se halló en la tierra de Egipto y en la tierra de Canaán, por los alimentos que de él compraban; y metió José el dinero en casa de Faraón.

47:14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

47:15 Y acabado el dinero de la tierra de Egipto y de la tierra de Canaán, vino todo Egipto á José diciendo: Danos pan: ¿por qué moriremos delante de ti, por haberse acabado el dinero?

47:15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in your presence? for the money fails.

47:16 Y José dijo: Dad vuestros ganados, y yo os daré por vuestros ganados, si se ha acabado el dinero.

47:16 And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.

47:17 Y ellos trajeron sus ganados á José; y José les dió alimentos por caballos, y por el ganado de las ovejas, y por el ganado de las vacas, y por asnos: y sustentólos de pan por todos sus ganados aquel año.

47:17 And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

47:18 Y acabado aquel año, vinieron á él el segundo año, y le dijeron: No encubriremos á nuestro señor que el dinero ciertamente se ha acabado; también el ganado es ya de nuestro señor; nada ha quedado delante de nuestro señor sino nuestros cuerpos y nuestra tierra.

47:18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also has our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

47:19 ¿Por qué moriremos delante de tus ojos, así nosotros como nuestra tierra? Cómpranos á nosotros y á nuestra tierra por pan, y seremos nosotros y nuestra tierra siervos de Faraón: y danos simiente para que vivamos y no muramos, y no sea asolada la tierra.

47:19 Wherefore shall we die before yours eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

47:20 Entonces compró José toda la tierra de Egipto para Faraón; pues los Egipcios vendieron cada uno sus tierras, porque se agravó el hambre sobre ellos: y la tierra vino á ser de Faraón.

47:20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.

47:21 Y al pueblo hízolo pasar á las ciudades desde el un cabo del término de Egipto hasta el otro cabo.

47:21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

47:22 Solamente la tierra de los sacerdotes no compró, por cuanto los sacerdotes tenían ración de Faraón, y ellos comían su ración que Faraón les daba: por eso no vendieron su tierra.

47:22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

47:23 Y José dijo al pueblo: He aquí os he hoy comprado y á vuestra tierra para Faraón: ved aquí simiente, y sembraréis la tierra.

47:23 Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and all of you shall sow the land.

47:24 Y será que de los frutos daréis el quinto á Faraón, y las cuatro partes serán vuestras para sembrar las tierras, y para vuestro mantenimiento, y de los que están en vuestras casas, y para que coman vuestros niños.

47:24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that all of you shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

47:25 Y ellos respondieron: La vida nos has dado: hallemos gracia en ojos de mi señor, y seamos siervos de Faraón.

47:25 And they said, You have saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

47:26 Entonces José lo puso por fuero hasta hoy sobre la tierra de Egipto, señalando para Faraón el quinto; excepto sólo la tierra de los sacerdotes, que no fué de Faraón.

47:26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part, except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.

47:27 Así habitó Israel en la tierra de Egipto, en la tierra de Gosén; y aposesionáronse en ella, y se aumentaron, y multiplicaron en gran manera.

47:27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

47:28 Y vivió Jacob en la tierra de Egipto diecisiete años: y fueron los días de Jacob, los años de su vida, ciento cuarenta y siete años.

47:28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

47:29 Y llegáronse los días de Israel para morir, y llamó á José su hijo, y le dijo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, ruégote que pongas tu mano debajo de mi muslo, y harás conmigo misericordia y verdad; ruégote que no me entierres en Egipto;

47:29 And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray you, in Egypt:

47:30 Mas cuando durmiere con mis padres, llevarme has de Egipto, y me sepultarás en el sepulcro de ellos. Y él respondió: Yo haré como tú dices.

47:30 But I will lie with my fathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as you have said.

47:31 Y él dijo: Júramelo. Y él le juró. Entonces Israel se inclinó sobre la cabecera de la cama.

47:31 And he said, Swear unto me. And he swore unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.

48:1 Y SUCEDIO después de estas cosas el haberse dicho á José: He aquí tu padre está enfermo. Y él tomó consigo sus dos hijos Manasés y Ephraim.

48:1 And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, your father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

48:2 Y se hizo saber á Jacob, diciendo: He aquí tu hijo José viene á ti. Entonces se esforzó Israel, y sentóse sobre la cama;

48:2 And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, your son Joseph comes unto you: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

48:3 Y dijo á José: El Dios Omnipotente me apareció en Luz en la tierra de Canaán, y me bendijo,

48:3 And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

48:4 Y díjome: He aquí, yo te haré crecer, y te multiplicaré, y te pondré por estirpe de pueblos: y daré esta tierra á tu simiente después de ti por heredad perpetua.

48:4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people; and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.

48:5 Y ahora tus dos hijos Ephraim y Manasés, que te nacieron en la tierra de Egipto, antes que viniese á ti á la tierra de Egipto, míos son; como Rubén y Simeón, serán míos:

48:5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto you in the land of Egypt before I came unto you into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

48:6 Y los que después de ellos has engendrado, serán tuyos; por el nombre de sus hermanos serán llamados en sus heredades.

48:6 And your issue, which you brought forth after them, shall be yours, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

48:7 Porque cuando yo venía de Padan-aram, se me murió Rachêl en la tierra de Canaán, en el camino, como media legua de tierra viniendo á Ephrata; y sepultéla allí en el camino de Ephrata, que es Bethlehem.

48:7 And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

48:8 Y vió Israel los hijos de José, y dijo: ¿Quiénes son éstos?

48:8 And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?

48:9 Y respondió José á su padre: Son mis hijos, que Dios me ha dado aquí. Y él dijo: Allégalos ahora á mí, y los bendeciré.

48:9 And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray you, unto me, and I will bless them.

48:10 Y los ojos de Israel estaban tan agravados de la vejez, que no podía ver. Hízoles, pues, llegar á él, y él los besó y abrazó.

48:10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

48:11 Y dijo Israel á José: No pensaba yo ver tu rostro, y he aquí Dios me ha hecho ver también tu simiente.

48:11 And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see your face: and, lo, God has showed me also your seed.

48:12 Entonces José los sacó de entre sus rodillas, é inclinóse á tierra.

48:12 And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

48:13 Y tomólos José á ambos, Ephraim á su diestra, á la siniestra de Israel; y á Manasés á su izquierda, á la derecha de Israel; é hízoles llegar á él.

48:13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

48:14 Entonces Israel extendió su diestra, y púsola sobre la cabeza de Ephraim, que era el menor, y su siniestra sobre la cabeza de Manasés, colocando así sus manos adrede, aunque Manasés era el primogénito.

48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wisely; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

48:15 Y bendijo á José, y dijo: El Dios en cuya presencia anduvieron mis padres Abraham é Isaac, el Dios que me mantiene desde que yo soy hasta este día,

48:15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

48:16 El Angel que me liberta de todo mal, bendiga á estos mozos: y mi nombre sea llamado en ellos, y el nombre de mis padres Abraham é Isaac: y multipliquen en gran manera en medio de la tierra.

48:16 The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

48:17 Entonces viendo José que su padre ponía la mano derecha sobre la cabeza de Eprhaim, causóle esto disgusto; y asió la mano de su padre, para mudarla de sobre la cabeza de Ephraim á la cabeza de Manasés.

48:17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

48:18 Y dijo José á su padre: No así, padre mío, porque éste es el primogénito; pon tu diestra sobre su cabeza.

48:18 And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put your right hand upon his head.

48:19 Mas su padre no quiso, y dijo: Lo sé, hijo mío, lo sé: también él vendrá á ser un pueblo, y será también acrecentado; pero su hermano menor será más grande que él, y su simiente será plenitud de gentes.

48:19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

48:20 Y bendíjolos aquel día, diciendo: En ti bendecirá Israel, diciendo: Póngate Dios como á Ephraim y como á Manasés. Y puso á Ephraim delante de Manasés.

48:20 And he blessed them that day, saying, In you shall Israel bless, saying, God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

48:21 Y dijo Israel á José: He aquí, yo muero, mas Dios será con vosotros, y os hará volver á la tierra de vuestros padres.

48:21 And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

48:22 Y yo te he dado á ti una parte sobre tus hermanos, la cual tomé yo de mano del Amorrheo con mi espada y con mi arco.

48:22 Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

49:1 Y LLAMO Jacob á sus hijos, y dijo: Juntaos, y os declararé lo que os ha de acontecer en los postreros días.

49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

49:2 Juntaos y oid, hijos de Jacob; Y escuchad á vuestro padre Israel.

49:2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, all of you sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

49:3 Rubén, tú eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, y el principio de mi vigor; Principal en dignidad, principal en poder.

49:3 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

49:4 Corriente como las aguas, no seas el principal; Por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre: Entonces te envileciste, subiendo á mi estrado.

49:4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father's bed; then defiled you it: he went up to my couch.

49:5 Simeón y Leví, hermanos: Armas de iniquidad sus armas.

49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.

49:6 En su secreto no entre mi alma, Ni mi honra se junte en su compañía; Que en su furor mataron varón, Y en su voluntad arrancaron muro.

49:6 O my soul, come not you into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not you united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they dug down a wall.

49:7 Maldito su furor, que fué fiero; Y su ira, que fué dura: Yo los apartaré en Jacob, Y los esparciré en Israel.

49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

49:8 Judá, alabarte han tus hermanos: Tu mano en la cerviz de tus enemigos: Los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán á ti.

49:8 Judah, you are he whom your brethren shall praise: your hand shall be in the neck of yours enemies; your father's children shall bow down before you.

49:9 Cachorro de león Judá: De la presa subiste, hijo mío: Encorvóse, echóse como león, Así como león viejo; ¿quién lo despertará?

49:9 Judah is a lion's offspring: from the prey, my son, you are gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

49:10 No será quitado el cetro de Judá, Y el legislador de entre sus piés, Hasta que venga Shiloh; Y á él se congregarán los pueblos.

49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

49:11 Atando á la vid su pollino, Y á la cepa el hijo de su asna, Lavó en el vino su vestido, Y en la sangre de uvas su manto:

49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

49:12 Sus ojos bermejos del vino, Y los dientes blancos de la leche.

49:12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

49:13 Zabulón en puertos de mar habitará, Y será para puerto de navíos; Y su término hasta Sidón.

49:13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

49:14 Issachâr, asno huesudo Echado entre dos tercios:

49:14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

49:15 Y vió que el descanso era bueno, Y que la tierra era deleitosa; Y bajó su hombro para llevar, Y sirvió en tributo.

49:15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

49:16 Dan juzgará á su pueblo, Como una de las tribus de Israel.

49:16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

49:17 Será Dan serpiente junto al camino, Cerasta junto á la senda, Que muerde los talones de los caballos, Y hace caer por detrás al cabalgador de ellos.

49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

49:18 Tu salud esperé, oh Jehová.

49:18 I have waited for your salvation, O LORD.

49:19 Gad, ejército lo acometerá; Mas él acometerá al fin.

49:19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

49:20 El pan de Aser será grueso, Y él dará deleites al rey.

49:20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

49:21 Nephtalí, sierva dejada, Que dará dichos hermosos.

49:21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he gives goodly words.

49:22 Ramo fructífero José, Ramo fructífero junto á fuente, Cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre el muro.

49:22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

49:23 Y causáronle amargura, Y asaeteáronle, Y aborreciéronle los archeros:

49:23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

49:24 Mas su arco quedó en fortaleza, Y los brazos de sus manos se corroboraron Por las manos del Fuerte de Jacob, (De allí el pastor, y la piedra de Israel,)

49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

49:25 Del Dios de tu padre, el cual te ayudará, Y del Omnipotente, el cual te bendecirá Con bendiciones de los cielos de arriba, Con bendiciones del abismo que está abajo, Con bendiciones del seno y de la matriz.

49:25 Even by the God of your father, who shall help you; and by the Almighty, who shall bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

49:26 Las bendiciones de tu padre Fueron mayores que las bendiciones de mis progenitores: Hasta el término de los collados eternos Serán sobre la cabeza de José, Y sobre la mollera del Nazareo de sus hermanos.

49:26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my conceivers unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

49:27 Benjamín, lobo arrebatador: A la mañana comerá la presa, Y á la tarde repartirá los despojos.

49:27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

49:28 Todos estos fueron las doce tribus de Israel: y esto fué lo que su padre les dijo, y bendíjolos; á cada uno por su bendición los bendijo.

49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spoke unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

49:29 Mandóles luego, y díjoles: Yo voy á ser reunido con mi pueblo: sepultadme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Ephrón el Hetheo;

49:29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

49:30 En la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, que está delante de Mamre en la tierra de Canaán, la cual compró Abraham con el mismo campo de Ephrón el Hetheo, para heredad de sepultura.

49:30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

49:31 Allí sepultaron á Abraham y á Sara su mujer; allí sepultaron á Isaac y á Rebeca su mujer; allí también sepulté yo á Lea.

49:31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.

49:32 La compra del campo y de la cueva que está en él, fué de los hijos de Heth.

49:32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

49:33 Y como acabó Jacob de dar órdenes á sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama, y espiró: y fué reunido con sus padres.

49:33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the spirit, and was gathered unto his people.

50:1 ENTONCES se echó José sobre el rostro de su padre, y lloró sobre él, y besólo.

50:1 And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

50:2 Y mandó José á sus médicos familiares que embalsamasen á su padre: y los médicos embalsamaron á Israel.

50:2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.

50:3 Y cumpliéronle cuarenta días, porque así cumplían los días de los embalsamados, y lloráronlo los Egipcios setenta días.

50:3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

50:4 Y pasados los días de su luto, habló José á los de la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en vuestros ojos, os ruego que habléis en oídos de Faraón, diciendo:

50:4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

50:5 Mi padre me conjuró diciendo: He aquí yo muero; en mi sepulcro que yo cavé para mí en la tierra de Canaán, allí me sepultarás; ruego pues que vaya yo ahora, y sepultaré á mi padre, y volveré.

50:5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray you, and bury my father, and I will come again.

50:6 Y Faraón dijo: Ve, y sepulta á tu padre, como él te conjuró.

50:6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury your father, according as he made you swear.

50:7 Entonces José subió á sepultar á su padre; y subieron con él todos los siervos de Faraón, los ancianos de su casa, y todos los ancianos de la tierra de Egipto.

50:7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

50:8 Y toda la casa de José, y sus hermanos, y la casa de su padre: solamente dejaron en la tierra de Gosén sus niños, y sus ovejas y sus vacas.

50:8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

50:9 Y subieron también con él carros y gente de á caballo, é hízose un escuadrón muy grande.

50:9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.

50:10 Y llegaron hasta la era de Atad, que está á la otra parte del Jordán, y endecharon allí con grande y muy grave lamentación: y José hizo á su padre duelo por siete días.

50:10 And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

50:11 Y viendo los moradores de la tierra, los Cananeos, el llanto en la era de Atad, dijeron: Llanto grande es este de los Egipcios: por eso fué llamado su nombre Abelmizraim, que está á la otra parte del Jordán.

50:11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

50:12 Hicieron, pues, sus hijos con él, según les había mandado:

50:12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

50:13 Pues lleváronlo sus hijos á la tierra de Canaán, y le sepultaron en la cueva del campo de Macpela, la que había comprado Abraham con el mismo campo, para heredad de sepultura, de Ephrón el Hetheo, delante de Mamre.

50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

50:14 Y tornóse José á Egipto, él y sus hermanos, y todos los que subieron con él á sepultar á su padre, después que le hubo sepultado.

50:14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

50:15 Y viendo los hermanos de José que su padre era muerto, dijeron: Quizá nos aborrecerá José, y nos dará el pago de todo el mal que le hicimos.

50:15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will possibly hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

50:16 Y enviaron á decir á José: Tu padre mandó antes de su muerte, diciendo:

50:16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Your father did command before he died, saying,

50:17 Así diréis á José: Ruégote que perdones ahora la maldad de tus hermanos y su pecado, porque mal te trataron: por tanto ahora te rogamos que perdones la maldad de los siervos del Dios de tu padre. Y José lloró mientras hablaban.

50:17 So shall all of you say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the trespass of your brethren, and their sin; for they did unto you evil: and now, we pray you, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.

50:18 Y vinieron también sus hermanos, y postráronse delante de él, y dijeron: Henos aquí por tus siervos.

50:18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be your servants.

50:19 Y respondióles José: No temáis: ¿estoy yo en lugar de Dios?

50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

50:20 Vosotros pensasteis mal sobre mí, mas Dios lo encaminó á bien, para hacer lo que vemos hoy, para mantener en vida á mucho pueblo.

50:20 But as for you, all of you thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

50:21 Ahora, pues, no tengáis miedo; yo os sustentaré á vosotros y á vuestros hijos. Así los consoló, y les habló al corazón.

50:21 Now therefore fear all of you not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly unto them.

50:22 Y estuvo José en Egipto, él y la casa de su padre: y vivió José ciento diez años.

50:22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

50:23 Y vió José los hijos de Ephraim hasta la tercera generación: también los hijos de Machîr, hijo de Manasés, fueron criados sobre las rodillas de José.

50:23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

50:24 Y José dijo á sus hermanos: Yo me muero; mas Dios ciertamente os visitará, y os hará subir de aquesta tierra á la tierra que juró á Abraham, á Isaac, y á Jacob.

50:24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

50:25 Y conjuró José á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Dios ciertamente os visitará, y haréis llevar de aquí mis huesos.

50:25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and all of you shall carry up my bones from behind.

50:26 Y murió José de edad de ciento diez años; y embalsamáronlo, y fué puesto en un ataúd en Egipto.

50:26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
