13:1 ユダの王アハジヤの子ヨアシの第二十三年にエヒウの子エホアハズはサマリヤでイスラエルの王となり、十七年世を治め。
13:1 In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
13:2 彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を行いつづけて、それを離れなかった。
13:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.
13:3 そこで主はイスラエルに対して怒りを発し、エホアハズの治世の間、絶えずイスラエルをスリヤの王ハザエルの手にわたし、またハザエルの子ベネハダデの手にわたされた。
13:3 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
13:4 しかしエホアハズが主に願い求めたので、主はついにこれを聞きいれられた。スリヤの王によって悩まされたイスラエルの悩みを見られたからである。
13:4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
13:5 それで主がひとりの救助者をイスラエルに賜わったので、イスラエルの人々はスリヤびとの手をのがれ、前のように自分たちの天幕に住むようになった。
13:5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in time past.
13:6 それにもかかわらず、彼らはイスラエルに罪を犯させたヤラベアムの家の罪を離れず、それを行いつづけた。またアシラの像もサマリヤに立ったままであった。
13:6 Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
13:7 さきにスリヤの王が彼らを滅ぼし、踏み砕くちりのようにしたのでエホアハズの軍勢で残ったものは、ただ騎兵五十人、戦車十両、歩兵一万人のみであった。
13:7 Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
13:8 エホアハズその他の事績と、彼がしたすべての事およびその武勇は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
13:8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13:9 エホアハズは先祖たちと共に眠ったので、彼をサマリヤに葬った。その子ヨアシが代って王となった。
13:9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his position.
13:10 ユダの王ヨアシの第三十七年に、エホアハズの子ヨアシはサマリヤでイスラエルの王となり、十六年世を治めた。
13:10 In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
13:11 彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムのもろもろの罪を離れず、それに歩んだ。
13:11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
13:12 ヨアシのその他の事績と、彼がしたすべての事およびユダの王アマジヤと戦ったその武勇は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
13:12 And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13:13 ヨアシは先祖たちと共に眠って、ヤラベアムがその位に座した。そしてヨアシはイスラエルの王たちと同じくサマリヤに葬られた。
13:13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
13:14 さてエリシャは死ぬ病気にかかっていたが、イスラエルの王ヨアシは下ってきて彼の顔の上に涙を流し、「わが父よ、わが父よ、イスラエルの戦車よ、その騎兵よ」と言った。
13:14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
13:15 エリシャは彼に「弓と矢を取りなさい」と言ったので、弓と矢を取った。
13:15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
13:16 エリシャはまたイスラエルの王に「弓に手をかけなさい」と言ったので、手をかけた。するとエリシャは自分の手を王の手の上におき、
13:16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put yours hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
13:17 「東向きの窓をあけなさい」と言ったので、それをあけると、エリシャはまた「射なさい」と言った。彼が射ると、エリシャは言った、「主の救の矢、スリヤに対する救の矢。あなたはアペクでスリヤびとを撃ち破り、彼らを滅ぼしつくすであろう」。
13:17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for you shall strike the Syrians in Aphek, till you have consumed them.
13:18 エリシャはまた「矢を取りなさい」と言ったので、それを取った。エリシャはまたイスラエルの王に「それをもって地を射なさい」と言ったので、三度射てやめた。
13:18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And he stroke three times, and stayed.
13:19 すると神の人は怒って言った、「あなたは五度も六度も射るべきであった。そうしたならば、あなたはスリヤを撃ち破り、それを滅ぼしつくすことができたであろう。しかし今あなたはそうしなかったので、スリヤを撃ち破ることはただ三度だけであろう」。
13:19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, You should have smitten five or six times; then had you smitten Syria till you had consumed it: whereas now you shall strike Syria but three times.
13:20 こうしてエリシャは死んで葬られた。さてモアブの略奪隊は年が改まるごとに、国にはいって来るのを常とした。
13:20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
13:21 時に、ひとりの人を葬ろうとする者があったが、略奪隊を見たので、その人をエリシャの墓に投げ入れて去った。その人はエリシャの骨に触れるとすぐ生きかえって立ちあがった。
13:21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the tomb of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
13:22 スリヤの王ハザエルはエホアハズの一生の間、イスラエルを悩ましたが、
13:22 But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
13:23 主はアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブと結ばれた契約のゆえにイスラエルを恵み、これをあわれみ、これを顧みて滅ぼすことを好まず、なおこれをみ前から捨てられなかった。
13:23 And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
13:24 スリヤの王ハザエルはついに死んで、その子ベネハダデが代って王となった。
13:24 So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his position.
13:25 そこでエホアハズの子ヨアシは、父エホアハズがハザエルに攻め取られた町々を、ハザエルの子ベネハダデの手から取り返した。すなわちヨアシは三度彼を撃ち破って、イスラエルの町々を取り返した。
13:25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
14:1 イスラエルの王エホアハズの子ヨアシの第二年に、ユダの王ヨアシの子アマジヤが王となった。
14:1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
14:2 彼は王となった時二十五歳で、二十九年の間エルサレムで世を治めた。その母はエルサレムの出身で、名をエホアダンといった。
14:2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
14:3 アマジヤは主の目にかなう事をおこなったが、先祖ダビデのようではなかった。彼はすべての事を父ヨアシがおこなったようにおこなった。
14:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
14:4 ただし高き所は除かなかったので、民はなおその高き所で犠牲をささげ、香をたいた。
14:4 Nevertheless the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
14:5 彼は国が彼の手のうちに強くなった時、父ヨアシ王を殺害した家来たちを殺したが、
14:5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
14:6 その殺害者の子供たちは殺さなかった。これはモーセの律法の書にしるされている所に従ったのであって、そこに主は命じて「父は子のゆえに殺さるべきではない。子は父のゆえに殺さるべきではない。おのおの自分の罪のゆえに殺さるべきである」と言われている。
14:6 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
14:7 アマジヤはまた塩の谷でエドムびと一万人を殺した。またセラを攻め取って、その名をヨクテルと名づけたが、今日までそのとおりである。
14:7 He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
14:8 そこでアマジヤがエヒウの子エホアハズの子であるイスラエルの王ヨアシに使者をつかわして、「さあ、われわれは互に顔を合わせよう」と言わせたので、
14:8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
14:9 イスラエルの王ヨアシはユダの王アマジヤに言い送った、「かつてレバノンのいばらがレバノンの香柏に、『あなたの娘をわたしのむすこの妻にください』と言い送ったことがあったが、レバノンの野獣がとおって、そのいばらを踏み倒した。
14:9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
14:10 あなたは大いにエドムを撃って、心にたかぶっているが、その栄誉に満足して家にとどまりなさい。何ゆえ、あなたは災をひき起して、自分もユダも共に滅びるような事をするのですか」。
14:10 You have indeed smitten Edom, and yours heart has lifted you up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?
14:11 しかしアマジヤが聞きいれなかったので、イスラエルの王ヨアシは上ってきた。そこで彼とユダの王アマジヤはユダのベテシメシで互に顔をあわせたが、
14:11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongs to Judah.
14:12 ユダはイスラエルに敗られて、おのおのその天幕に逃げ帰った。
14:12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
14:13 イスラエルの王ヨアシはアハジヤの子ヨアシの子であるユダの王アマジヤをベテシメシで捕え、エルサレムにきて、エルサレムの城壁をエフライムの門から隅の門まで、おおよそ四百キュビトにわたってこわし、
14:13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14:14 また主の宮と王の家の倉にある金銀およびもろもろの器をことごとく取り、かつ人質をとってサマリヤに帰った。
14:14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
14:15 ヨアシのその他の事績と、その武勇および彼がユダの王アマジヤと戦った事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
14:15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
14:16 ヨアシはその先祖たちと共に眠って、イスラエルの王たちと共にサマリヤに葬られ、その子ヤラベアムが代って王となった。
14:16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his position.
14:17 ヨアシの子であるユダの王アマジヤは、エホアハズの子であるイスラエルの王ヨアシが死んで後、なお十五年生きながらえた。
14:17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
14:18 アマジヤのその他の事績は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
14:18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
14:19 時に人々がエルサレムで徒党を結び、彼に敵対したので、彼はラキシに逃げていったが、その人々はラキシに人をつかわして彼をそこで殺させた。
14:19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
14:20 人々は彼を馬に載せて運んできて、エルサレムで彼を先祖たちと共にダビデの町に葬った。
14:20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
14:21 そしてユダの民は皆アザリヤを父アマジヤの代りに王とした。時に年十六歳であった。
14:21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
14:22 彼はエラテの町を建てて、これをユダに復帰させた。これはかの王がその先祖たちと共に眠った後であった。
14:22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
14:23 ユダの王ヨアシの子アマジヤの第十五年に、イスラエルの王ヨアシの子ヤラべアムがサマリヤで王となって四十一年の間、世を治めた。
14:23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
14:24 彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を離れなかった。
14:24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
14:25 彼はハマテの入口からアラバの海まで、イスラエルの領域を回復した。イスラエルの神、主がガテヘペルのアミッタイの子である、そのしもべ預言者ヨナによって言われた言葉のとおりである。
14:25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.
14:26 主はイスラエルの悩みの非常に激しいのを見られた。そこにはつながれた者も、自由な者もいなくなり、またイスラエルを助ける者もいなかった。
14:26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
14:27 しかし主はイスラエルの名を天が下から消し去ろうとは言われなかった。そして彼らをヨアシの子ヤラベアムの手によって救われた。
14:27 And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
14:28 ヤラベアムのその他の事績と、彼がしたすべての事およびその武勇、すなわち彼が戦争をした事および、かつてユダに属していたダマスコとハマテを、イスラエルに復帰させた事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
14:28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
14:29 ヤラベアムはその先祖であるイスラエルの王たちと共に眠って、その子ゼカリヤが代って王となった。
14:29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his position.
15:1 イスラエルの王ヤラベアムの第二十七年に、ユダの王アマジヤの子アザリヤが王となった。
15:1 In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.
15:2 彼が王となった時は十六歳で、五十二年の間エルサレムで世を治めた。その母はエルサレムの出身で、名をエコリアといった。
15:2 Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
15:3 彼は主の目にかなう事を行い、すべての事を父アマジヤが行ったようにおこなった。
15:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done;
15:4 ただし高き所は除かなかったので、民はなおその高き所で犠牲をささげ、香をたいた。
15:4 Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.
15:5 主が王を撃たれたので、その死ぬ日まで、らい病人となって、離れ家に住んだ。王の子ヨタムが家の事を管理し、国の民をさばいた。
15:5 And the LORD stroke the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's son was over the house, judging the people of the land.
15:6 アザリヤのその他の事績と、彼がしたすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
15:6 And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
15:7 アザリヤはその先祖たちと共に眠ったので、彼をダビデの町にその先祖たちと共に葬った。その子ヨタムが代って王となった。
15:7 So Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his position.
15:8 ユダの王アザリヤの第三十八年にヤラベアムの子ゼカリヤがサマリヤでイスラエルの王となり、六か月世を治めた。
15:8 In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zachariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.
15:9 彼はその先祖たちがおこなったように主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を離れなかった。
15:9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:10 ヤベシの子シャルムが徒党を結んで彼に敵し、イブレアムで彼を撃ち殺し、彼に代って王となった。
15:10 And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and stroke him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his position.
15:11 ゼカリヤのその他の事績は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされている。
15:11 And the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:12 主はかつてエヒウに、「あなたの子孫は四代までイスラエルの位に座するであろう」と告げられたが、はたしてそのとおりになった。
15:12 This was the word of the LORD which he spoke unto Jehu, saying, Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.
15:13 ヤベシの子シャルムはユダの王ウジヤの第三十九年に王となり、サマリヤで一か月世を治めた。
15:13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.
15:14 時にガデの子メナヘムがテルザからサマリヤに上ってきて、ヤベシの子シャルムをサマリヤで撃ち殺し、彼に代って王となった。
15:14 For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and stroke Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his position.
15:15 シャルムのその他の事績と、彼が徒党を結んだ事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされている。
15:15 And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:16 その時メナヘムはテルザから進んでいって、タップアと、そのうちにいるすべての者、およびその領域を撃った。すなわち彼らが彼のために開かなかったので、これを撃って、そのうちの妊娠の女をことごとく引き裂いた。
15:16 Then Menahem stroke Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he stroke it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.
15:17 ユダの王アザリヤの第三十九年に、ガデの子メナヘムはイスラエルの王となり、サマリヤで十年の間、世を治めた。
15:17 In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria.
15:18 彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を一生の間、離れなかった。
15:18 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:19 時にアッスリヤの王プルが国に攻めてきたので、メナヘムは銀一千タラントをプルに与えた。これは彼がプルの助けを得て、国を自分の手のうちに強くするためであった。
15:19 And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.
15:20 すなわちメナヘムはその銀をイスラエルのすべての富める者に課し、その人々におのおの銀五十シケルを出させてアッスリヤの王に与えた。こうしてアッスリヤの王は国にとどまらないで帰っていった。
15:20 And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.
15:21 メナヘムのその他の事績と彼がしたすべての事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
15:21 And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
15:22 メナヘムは先祖たちと共に眠り、その子ペカヒヤが代って王となった。
15:22 And Menahem slept with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his position.
15:23 メナヘムの子ペカヒヤはユダの王アザリヤの第五十年に、サマリヤでイスラエルの王となり、二年の間、世を治めた。
15:23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.
15:24 彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、イスラエルに罪を犯せたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を離れなかった。
15:24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:25 時に彼の副官であったレマリヤのペカが、ギレアデびと五十人と共に徒党を結んで彼に敵し、サマリヤの、王の宮殿の天守で彼を撃ち殺した。すなわちペカは彼を殺し、彼に代って王となった。
15:25 But Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and stroke him in Samaria, in the palace of the king's house, with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.
15:26 ペカヒヤのその他の事績と彼がしたすべての事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされている。
15:26 And the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:27 レマリヤの子ペカはユダの王アザリヤの第五十二年に、サマリヤでイスラエルの王となり、二十年の間、世を治めた。
15:27 In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.
15:28 彼は主の目の前に悪をおこない、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムの罪を離れなかった。
15:28 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:29 イスラエルの王ペカの世に、アッスリヤの王テグラテピレセルが来て、イヨン、アベル・ベテマアカ、ヤノア、ケデシ、ハゾル、ギレアデ、ガリラヤ、ナフタリの全地を取り、人々をアッスリヤへ捕え移した。
15:29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.
15:30 時にエラの子ホセアは徒党を結んで、レマリヤの子ペカに敵し、彼を撃ち殺し、彼に代って王となった。これはウジヤの子ヨタムの第二十年であった。
15:30 And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and stroke him, and slew him, and reigned in his position, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.
15:31 ペカのその他の事績と彼がしたすべての事は、イスラエルの王の歴代志の書にしるされている。
15:31 And the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:32 レマリヤの子イスラエルの王ペカの第二年に、ユダの王ウジヤの子ヨタムが王となった。
15:32 In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.
15:33 彼は王となった時二十五歳であったが、エルサレムで十六年の間、世を治めた。母はザドクの娘で、名をエルシャといった。
15:33 Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.
15:34 彼は主の目にかなう事を行い、すべて父ウジヤの行ったようにおこなった。
15:34 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.
15:35 ただし高き所は除かなかったので、民はなおその高き所で犠牲をささげ、香をたいた。彼は主の宮の上の門を建てた。
15:35 Nevertheless the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.
15:36 ヨタムのその他の事績と彼がしたすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
15:36 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
15:37 そのころ、主はスリヤの王レヂンとレマリヤの子ペカをユダに攻めこさせられた。
15:37 In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
15:38 ヨタムは先祖たちと共に眠って、その先祖ダビデの町に先祖たちと共に葬られ、その子アハズが代って王となった。
15:38 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his position.
16:1 レマリヤの子ペカの第十七年にユダの王ヨタムの子アハズが王となった。
16:1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
16:2 アハズは王となった時二十歳で、エルサレムで十六年の間、世を治めたが、その神、主の目にかなう事を先祖ダビデのようには行わなかった。
16:2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.
16:3 彼はイスラエルの王たちの道に歩み、また主がイスラエルの人々の前から追い払われた異邦人の憎むべきおこないにしたがって、自分の子を火に焼いてささげ物とした。
16:3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.
16:4 かつ彼は高き所、また丘の上、すべての青木の下で犠牲をささげ、香をたいた。
16:4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
16:5 そのころ、スリヤの王レヂンおよびレマリヤの子であるイスラエルの王ペカがエルサレムに攻め上って、アハズを囲んだが、勝つことができなかった。
16:5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
16:6 その時エドムの王はエラテを回復してエドムの所領とし、ユダの人々をエラテから追い出した。そしてエドムびとがエラテにきて、そこに住み、今日に至っている。
16:6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.
16:7 そこでアハズは使者をアッスリヤの王テグラテピレセルにつかわして言わせた、「わたしはあなたのしもべ、あなたの子です。スリヤの王とイスラエルの王がわたしを攻め囲んでいます。どうぞ上ってきて、彼らの手からわたしを救い出してください」。
16:7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am your servant and your son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
16:8 そしてアハズは主の宮と王の家の倉にある金と銀をとり、これを贈り物としてアッスリヤの王におくったので、
16:8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
16:9 アッスリヤの王は彼の願いを聞きいれた。すなわちアッスリヤの王はダマスコに攻め上って、これを取り、その民をキルに捕え移し、またレヂンを殺した。
16:9 And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
16:10 アハズ王はアッスリヤの王テグラテピレセルに会おうとダマスコへ行ったが、ダマスコにある祭壇を見たので、アハズ王はその祭壇の作りにしたがって、その詳しい図面と、ひな型とを作って、祭司ウリヤに送った。
16:10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.
16:11 そこで祭司ウリヤはアハズ王がダマスコから送ったものにしたがって祭壇を建てた。すなわち祭司ウリヤはアハズ王がダマスコから帰るまでにそのとおりに作った。
16:11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
16:12 王はダマスコから帰ってきて、その祭壇を見、祭壇に近づいてその上に登り、
16:12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.
16:13 燔祭と素祭を焼き、灌祭を注ぎ、酬恩祭の血を祭壇にそそぎかけた。
16:13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his food offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
16:14 彼はまた主の前にあった青銅の祭壇を宮の前から移した。すなわちそれを新しい祭壇と主の宮の間から移して、新しい祭壇の北の方にすえた。
16:14 And he brought also the brazen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
16:15 そしてアハズ王は祭司ウリヤに命じて言った、「朝の燔祭と夕の素祭および王の燔祭とその素祭、ならびに国中の民の燔祭とその素祭および灌祭は、この大きな祭壇の上で焼きなさい。また燔祭の血と犠牲の血はすべてこれにそそぎかけなさい。あの青銅の祭壇をわたしは伺いを立てるのに用いよう」。
16:15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening food offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his food offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their food offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brazen altar shall be for me to enquire by.
16:16 祭司ウリヤはアハズ王がすべて命じたとおりにおこなった。
16:16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.
16:17 またアハズ王は台の鏡板を切り取って、洗盤をその上から移し、また海をその下にある青銅の牛の上からおろして、石の座の上にすえ、
16:17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the vessel that holds water from off them; and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.
16:18 また宮のうちに造られていた安息日用のおおいのある道、および王の用いる外の入口をアッスリヤの王のために主の宮から除いた。
16:18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
16:19 アハズのその他の事績は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
16:19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
16:20 アハズは先祖たちと共に眠って、ダビデの町にその先祖たちと共に葬られ、その子ヒゼキヤが代って王となった。
16:20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his position.
17:1 ユダの王アハズの第十二年にエラの子ホセアが王となり、サマリヤで九年の間、イスラエルを治めた。
17:1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.
17:2 彼は主の目の前に悪を行ったが、彼以前のイスラエルの王たちのようではなかった。
17:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
17:3 アッスリヤの王シャルマネセルが攻め上ったので、ホセアは彼に隷属して、みつぎを納めたが、
17:3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.
17:4 アッスリヤの王はホセアがついに自分にそむいたのを知った。それはホセアが使者をエジプトの王ソにつかわし、また年々納めていたみつぎを、アッスリヤの王に納めなかったからである。そこでアッスリヤの王は彼を監禁し、獄屋につないだ。
17:4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
17:5 そしてアッスリヤの王は攻め上って国中を侵し、サマリヤに上ってきて三年の間、これを攻め囲んだ。
17:5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
17:6 ホセアの第九年になって、アッスリヤの王はついにサマリヤを取り、イスラエルの人々をアッスリヤに捕えていって、ハラと、ゴザンの川ハボルのほとりと、メデアの町々においた。
17:6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
17:7 この事が起ったのは、イスラエルの人々が、自分たちをエジプトの地から導き上って、エジプトの王パロの手をのがれさせられたその神、主にむかって罪を犯し、他の神々を敬い、
17:7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
17:8 主がイスラエルの人々の前から追い払われた異邦人のならわしに従って歩み、またイスラエルの王たちが定めたならわしに従って歩んだからである。
17:8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
17:9 イスラエルの人々はその神、主にむかって正しからぬ事をひそかに行い、見張台から堅固な町に至るまで、すべての町々に高き所を建て、
17:9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
17:10 またすべての高い丘の上、すべての青木の下に石の柱とアシラ像を立て、
17:10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
17:11 主が彼らの前から捕え移された異邦人がしたように、すべての高き所で香をたき、悪事を行って、主を怒らせた。
17:11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:
17:12 また主が彼らに「あなたがたはこの事をしてはならない」と言われたのに偶像に仕えた。
17:12 For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, All of you shall not do this thing.
17:13 主はすべての預言者、すべての先見者によってイスラエルとユダを戒め、「翻って、あなたがたの悪い道を離れ、わたしがあなたがたの先祖たちに命じ、またわたしのしもべである預言者たちによってあなたがたに伝えたすべての律法のとおりに、わたしの戒めと定めとを守れ」と仰せられたが、
17:13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn all of you from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
17:14 彼らは聞きいれず、彼らの先祖たちがその神、主を信じないで、強情であったように、彼らは強情であった。
17:14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
17:15 そして彼らは主の定めを捨て、主が彼らの先祖たちと結ばれた契約を破り、また彼らに与えられた警告を軽んじ、かつむなしい偶像に従ってむなしくなり、また周囲の異邦人に従った。これは主が、彼らのようにおこなってはならないと彼らに命じられたものである。
17:15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
17:16 彼らはその神、主のすべての戒めを捨て、自分のために二つの子牛の像を鋳て造り、またアシラ像を造り、天の万象を拝み、かつバアルに仕え、
17:16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
17:17 またそのむすこ、娘を火に焼いてささげ物とし、占いおよびまじないをなし、主の目の前に悪をおこなうことに身をゆだねて、主を怒らせた。
17:17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
17:18 それゆえ、主は大いにイスラエルを怒り、彼らをみ前から除かれたので、ユダの部族のほか残った者はなかった。
17:18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
17:19 ところがユダもまたその神、主の戒めを守らず、イスラエルが定めたならわしに歩んだので、
17:19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
17:20 主はイスラエルの子孫をことごとく捨て、彼らを苦しめ、彼らを略奪者の手にわたして、ついに彼らをみ前から打ちすてられた。
17:20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
17:21 主はイスラエルをダビデの家から裂き離されたので、イスラエルはネバテの子ヤラベアムを王としたが、ヤラベアムはイスラエルに、主に従うことをやめさせ、大きな罪を犯させた。
17:21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drove Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
17:22 イスラエルの人々がヤラベアムのおこなったすべての罪をおこない続けて、それを離れなかったので、
17:22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;
17:23 ついに主はそのしもべである預言者たちによって言われたように、イスラエルをみ前から除き去られた。こうしてイスラエルは自分の国からアッスリヤに移されて今日に至っている。
17:23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
17:24 かくてアッスリヤの王はバビロン、クタ、アワ、ハマテおよびセパルワイムから人々をつれてきて、これをイスラエルの人々の代りにサマリヤの町々におらせたので、その人々はサマリヤを領有して、その町々に住んだ。
17:24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
17:25 彼らがそこに住み始めた時、主を敬うことをしなかったので、主は彼らのうちにししを送り、ししは彼らのうちの数人を殺した。
17:25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.
17:26 そこで人々はアッスリヤの王に告げて言った、「あなたが移してサマリヤの町々におらせられたあの国々の民は、その地の神のおきてを知らないゆえに、その神は彼らのうちにししを送り、ししは彼らを殺した。これは彼らが、その地の神のおきてを知らないためです」。
17:26 Wherefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.
17:27 アッスリヤの王は命じて言った、「あなたがたがあそこから移した祭司のひとりをあそこへ連れて行きなさい。彼をあそこへやって住まわせ、その国の神のおきてをその人々に教えさせなさい」。
17:27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom all of you brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
17:28 そこでサマリヤから移された祭司のひとりが来てベテルに住み、どのように主を敬うべきかを彼らに教えた。
17:28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
17:29 しかしその民はおのおの自分の神々を造って、それをサマリヤびとが造った高き所の家に安置した。民は皆住んでいる町々でそのようにおこなった。
17:29 Nevertheless every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
17:30 すなわちバビロンの人々はスコテ・ベノテを造り、クタの人々はネルガルを造り、ハマテの人々はアシマを造り、
17:30 And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
17:31 アワの人々はニブハズとタルタクを造り、セパルワイムびとはその子を火に焼いて、セパルワイムの神アデランメレクおよびアナンメレクにささげた。
17:31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
17:32 彼はまた主を敬い、自分たちのうちから一般の民を立てて高き所の祭司としたので、その人々は高き所の家で勤めをした。
17:32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the low of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
17:33 このように彼らは主を敬ったが、また彼らが出てきた国々のならわしにしたがって、自分たちの神々にも仕えた。
17:33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.
17:34 今日に至るまで彼らは先のならわしにしたがっておこなっている。彼らは主を敬わず、また主がイスラエルと名づけられたヤコブの子孫に命じられた定めにも、おきてにも、律法にも、戒めにも従わない。
17:34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
17:35 主はかつて彼らと契約を結び、彼らに命じて言われた、「あなたがたは他の神々を敬ってはならない。また彼らを拝み、彼らに仕え、彼らに犠牲をささげてはならない。
17:35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, All of you shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
17:36 ただ大きな力と伸べた腕とをもって、あなたがたをエジプトの地から導き上った主をのみ敬い、これを拝み、これに犠牲をささげなければならない。
17:36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall all of you fear, and him shall all of you worship, and to him shall all of you do sacrifice.
17:37 またあなたがたのために書きしるされた定めと、おきてと、律法と、戒めとを、慎んで常に守らなければならない。他の神々を敬ってはならない。
17:37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, all of you shall observe to do for evermore; and all of you shall not fear other gods.
17:38 わたしがあなたがたと結んだ契約を忘れてはならない。また他の神々を敬ってはならない。
17:38 And the covenant that I have made with you all of you shall not forget; neither shall all of you fear other gods.
17:39 ただあなたがたの神、主を敬わなければならない。主はあなたがたをそのすべての敵の手から救い出されるであろう」。
17:39 But the LORD your God all of you shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
17:40 しかし彼らは聞きいれず、かえって先のならわしにしたがっておこなった。
17:40 Nevertheless they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
17:41 このように、これらの民は主を敬い、またその刻んだ像にも仕えたが、その子たちも、孫たちも同様であって、彼らはその先祖がおこなったように今日までおこなっている。
17:41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
18:1 イスラエルの王エラの子ホセアの第三年にユダの王アハズの子ヒゼキヤが王となった。
18:1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
18:2 彼は王となった時二十五歳で、エルサレムで二十九年の間、世を治めた。その母はゼカリヤの娘で、名をアビといった。
18:2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
18:3 ヒゼキヤはすべて先祖ダビデがおこなったように主の目にかなう事を行い、
18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
18:4 高き所を除き、石柱をこわし、アシラ像を切り倒し、モーセの造った青銅のへびを打ち砕いた。イスラエルの人々はこの時までそのへびに向かって香をたいていたからである。人々はこれをネホシタンと呼んだ。
18:4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
18:5 ヒゼキヤはイスラエルの神、主に信頼した。そのために彼のあとにも彼の先にも、ユダのすべての王のうちに彼に及ぶ者はなかった。
18:5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
18:6 すなわち彼は固く主に従って離れることなく、主がモーセに命じられた命令を守った。
18:6 For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
18:7 主が彼と共におられたので、すべて彼が出て戦うところで功をあらわした。彼はアッスリヤの王にそむいて、彼に仕えなかった。
18:7 And the LORD was with him; and he prospered anywhere he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
18:8 彼はペリシテびとを撃ち敗って、ガザとその領域にまで達し、見張台から堅固な町にまで及んだ。
18:8 He stroke the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
18:9 ヒゼキヤ王の第四年すなわちイスラエルの王エラの子ホセアの第七年に、アッスリヤの王シャルマネセルはサマリヤに攻め上って、これを囲んだが、
18:9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

18:10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

18:11 And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

18:12 Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
18:13 ヒゼキヤ王の第十四年にアッスリヤの王セナケリブが攻め上ってユダのすべての堅固な町々を取ったので、
18:13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
18:14 ユダの王ヒゼキヤは人をラキシにつかわしてアッスリヤの王に言った、「わたしは罪を犯しました。どうぞ引き上げてください。わたしに課せられることはなんでもいたします」。アッスリヤの王は銀三百タラントと金三十タラントをユダの王ヒゼキヤに課した。
18:14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which you put on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
18:15 ヒゼキヤは主の宮と王の家の倉とにある銀をことごとく彼に与えた。
18:15 And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
18:16 この時ユダの王ヒゼキヤはまた主の神殿の戸および柱から自分が着せた金をはぎ取って、アッスリヤの王に与えた。
18:16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
18:17 アッスリヤの王はまたタルタン、ラブサリスおよびラブシャケを、ラキシから大軍を率いてエルサレムにいるヒゼキヤ王のもとにつかわした。彼らは上ってエルサレムに来た。彼らはエルサレムに着くと、布さらし場に行く大路に沿っている上の池の水道のかたわらへ行って、そこに立った。
18:17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the launderer's field.
18:18 そして彼らが王を呼んだので、ヒルキヤの子である宮内卿エリアキム、書記官セブナ、およびアサフの子である史官ヨアが彼らのところに出てきた。
18:18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
18:19 ラブシャケは彼らに言った、「ヒゼキヤに言いなさい、『大王、アッスリヤの王はこう仰せられる。あなたが頼みとする者は何か。
18:19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak all of you now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein you trust?
18:20 口先だけの言葉が戦争をする計略と力だと考えるのか。あなたは今だれにたよって、わたしにそむいたのか。
18:20 You says, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?
18:21 今あなたは、あの折れかけている葦のつえ、エジプトを頼みとしているが、それは人がよりかかる時、その人の手を刺し通すであろう。エジプトの王パロはすべて寄り頼む者にそのようにする。
18:21 Now, behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
18:22 しかしあなたがもし「われわれは、われわれの神、主を頼む」とわたしに言うのであれば、その神はヒゼキヤがユダとエルサレムに告げて、「あなたがたはエルサレムで、この祭壇の前に礼拝しなければならない」と言って、その高き所と祭壇とを除いた者ではないか。
18:22 But if all of you say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and Jerusalem, All of you shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
18:23 さあ、わたしの主君アッスリヤの王とかけをせよ。もしあなたの方に乗る人があるならば、わたしは馬二千頭を与えよう。
18:23 Now therefore, I pray you, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver you two thousand horses, if you be able on your part to set riders upon them.
18:24 あなたはエジプトを頼み、戦車と騎兵を請い求めているが、わたしの主君の家来のうちの最も小さい一隊長でさえ、どうして撃退することができようか。
18:24 How then will you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
18:25 わたしがこの所を滅ぼすために上ってきたのは、主の許しなしにしたことであろうか。主がわたしにこの地に攻め上ってこれを滅ぼせと言われたのだ』」。
18:25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
18:26 その時ヒルキヤの子エリアキムおよびセブナとヨアはラブシャケに言った、「どうぞ、アラム語でしもべどもに話してください。わたしたちは、それがわかるからです。城壁の上にいる民の聞いているところで、わたしたちにユダヤの言葉で話さないでください」。
18:26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray you, to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

18:27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? has he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

18:28 Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
18:29 王はこう仰せられる、『あなたがたはヒゼキヤに欺かれてはならない。彼はあなたがたをわたしの手から救いだすことはできない。
18:29 Thus says the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
18:30 ヒゼキヤが「主は必ずわれわれを救い出される。この町はアッスリヤ王の手に陥ることはない」と言っても、あなたがたは主を頼みとしてはならない』。
18:30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
18:31 あなたがたはヒゼキヤの言葉を聞いてはならない。アッスリヤの王はこう仰せられる、『あなたがたはわたしと和解して、わたしに降服せよ。そうすればあなたがたはおのおの自分のぶどうの実を食べ、おのおの自分のいちじくの実を食べ、おのおの自分の井戸の水を飲むことができるであろう。
18:31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus says the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat all of you every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink all of you every one the waters of his cistern:
18:32 やがてわたしが来て、あなたがたを一つの国へ連れて行く。それはあなたがたの国のように穀物とぶどう酒のある地、パンとぶどう畑のある地、オリブの木と蜜のある地である。あなたがたは生きながらえることができ、死ぬことはない。ヒゼキヤが「主はわれわれを救われる」と言って、あなたがたを惑わしても彼に聞いてはならな。
18:32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that all of you may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
18:33 諸国民の神々のうち、どの神がその国をアッスリヤの王の手から救ったか。
18:33 Has any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
18:34 ハマテやアルパデの神々はどこにいるのか。セパルワイム、ヘナおよびイワの神々はどこにいるのか。彼らはサマリヤをわたしの手から救い出したか。
18:34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
18:35 国々のすべての神々のうち、その国をわたしの手から救い出した者があったか。主がどうしてエルサレムをわたしの手から救い出すことができよう』」。
18:35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
18:36 しかし民は黙して、ひと言も彼に答えなかった。王が命じて「彼に答えてはならない」と言っておいたからである。
18:36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
18:37 こうしてヒルキヤの子である宮内卿エリアキム、書記官セブナ、およびアサフの子である史官ヨアは衣を裂き、ヒゼキヤのもとに来て、ラブシャケの言葉を彼に告げた。
18:37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
19:1 ヒゼキヤ王はこれを聞いて、衣を裂き、荒布を身にまとって主に宮に入り、
19:1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
19:2 宮内卿エリアキムと書記官セブナおよび祭司のうちの年長者たちに荒布をまとわせて、アモツの子預言者イザヤのもとにつかわした。
19:2 And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
19:3 彼らはイザヤに言った、「ヒゼキヤはこう申されます、『きょうは悩みと、懲らしめと、はずかしめの日です。胎児がまさに生れようとして、これを産み出す力がないのです。
19:3 And they said unto him, Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
19:4 あなたの神、主はラブシャケがその主君アッスリヤの王につかわされて、生ける神をそしったもろもろの言葉を聞かれたかもしれません。そしてあなたの神、主はその聞いた言葉をとがめられるかもしれません。それゆえ、この残っている者のために祈をささげてください』」。
19:4 It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: wherefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that are left.
19:5 ヒゼキヤ王の家来たちがイザヤのもとに来たとき、
19:5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
19:6 イザヤは彼らに言った、「あなたがたの主君にこう言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、アッスリヤの王の家来たちが、わたしをそしった言葉を聞いて恐れるには及ばない。
19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall all of you say to your master, Thus says the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
19:7 見よ、わたしは一つの霊を彼らのうちに送って、一つのうわさを聞かせ、彼を自分の国へ帰らせて、自分の国でつるぎに倒れさせるであろう』」。
19:7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
19:8 ラブシャケは引き返して、アッスリヤの王がリブナを攻めているところへ行った。彼が王のラキシを去ったことを聞いたからである。
19:8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
19:9 この時アッスリヤの王はエチオピヤの王テルハカについて、「彼はあなたと戦うために出てきた」と人々がいうのを聞いたので、再び使者をヒゼキヤにつかわして言った、
19:9 And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he has come out to fight against you: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,
19:10 「ユダの王ヒゼキヤにこう言いなさい、『あなたは、エルサレムはアッスリヤの王の手に陥ることはない、と言うあなたの信頼する神に欺かれてはならない。
19:10 Thus shall all of you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
19:11 あなたはアッスリヤの王たちがもろもろの国々にした事、彼らを全く滅ぼした事を聞いている。どうしてあなたが救われることができようか。
19:11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shall you be delivered?
19:12 わたしの父たちはゴザン、ハラン、レゼフ、およびテラサルにいたエデンの人々を滅ぼしたが、その国々の神々は彼らを救ったか。
19:12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?
19:13 ハマテの王、アルパデの王、セパルワイムの町の王、ヘナの王およびイワの王はどこにいるのか』」。
19:13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?
19:14 ヒゼキヤは使者の手から手紙を受け取ってそれを読み、主の宮にのぼっていって、主の前にそれをひろげ、
19:14 And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
19:15 そしてヒゼキヤは主の前に祈って言った、「ケルビムの上に座しておられるイスラエルの神、主よ、地のすべての国のうちで、ただあなただけが神でいらせられます。あなたは天と地を造られました。
19:15 And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwell between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.
19:16 主よ、耳を傾けて聞いてください。主よ、目を開いてごらんください。セナケリブが生ける神をそしるために書き送った言葉をお聞きください。
19:16 LORD, bow down yours ear, and hear: open, LORD, yours eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which has sent him to reproach the living God.
19:17 主よ、まことにアッスリヤの王たちはもろもろの民とその国々を滅ぼし、
19:17 Truthfully, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
19:18 またその神々を火に投げ入れました。それらは神ではなく、人の手の作ったもので、木や石だから滅ぼされたのです。
19:18 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
19:19 われわれの神、主よ、どうぞ、今われわれを彼の手から救い出してください。そうすれば地の国々は皆、主であるあなただけが神でいらせられることを知るようになるでしょう」。
19:19 Now therefore, O LORD our God, I plead to you, save you us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD God, even you only.
19:20 その時アモツの子イザヤは人をつかわしてヒゼキヤに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、『アッスリヤの王セナケリブについてあなたがわたしに祈ったことは聞いた』。
19:20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, That which you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
19:21 主が彼について語られた言葉はこうである、／『処女であるシオンの娘は／あなたを侮り、あなたをあざける。エルサレムの娘は／あなたのうしろで頭を振る。
19:21 This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
19:22 あなたはだれをそしり、だれをののしったのか。あなたはだれにむかって声をあげ、／目を高くあげたのか。イスラエルの聖者にむかってしたのだ。
19:22 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up yours eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
19:23 あなたは使者をもって主をそしって言った、／「わたしは多くの戦車をひきいて山々の頂にのぼり、／レバノンの奥に行き、／たけの高い香柏と最も良いいとすぎを切り倒し、／またその果の野営地に行き、／その密林にはいった。
19:23 By your messengers you have reproached the LORD, and have said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
19:24 わたしは井戸を掘って外国の水を飲んだ。わたしは足の裏で、／エジプトのすべての川を踏みからした」。
19:24 I have dug and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.
19:25 あなたは聞かなかったか、／昔わたしがこれを定めたことを。堅固な町々をあなたが荒塚とすることも、／いにしえの日からわたしが計画して／今これをおこなうのだ。
19:25 Have you not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
19:26 そのうちに住む民は力弱くおののき、恥をいだいて、／野の草のように、青菜のようになり、／育たないで枯れる屋根の草のようになった。
19:26 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
19:27 わたしはあなたのすわること、出入りすること、／わたしにむかって怒り叫んだことをも知っている。
19:27 But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.
19:28 あなたがわたしにむかって怒り叫んだことと、／あなたの高慢がわたしの耳にはいったため、／わたしはあなたの鼻に輪をつけ、／あなたの口にくつわをはめて、／あなたをもときた道へ引きもどすであろう』。
19:28 Because your rage against me and your tumult has come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.
19:29 『あなたに与えるしるしはこれである。すなわち、ことしは落ち穂からはえたものを食べ、二年目にはまたその落ち穂からはえたものを食べ、三年目には種をまき、刈り入れ、ぶどう畑を作ってその実を食べるであろう。
19:29 And this shall be a sign unto you, All of you shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springs of the same; and in the third year sow all of you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
19:30 ユダの家ののがれて残る者は再び下に根を張り、上に実を結ぶであろう。
19:30 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
19:31 すなわち残る者がエルサレムから出てき、のがれた者がシオンの山から出て来るであろう。主の熱心がこれをされるであろう』。
19:31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
19:32 それゆえ、主はアッスリヤの王について、こう仰せられる、『彼はこの町にこない、またここに矢を放たない、盾をもってその前に来ることなく、また塁を築いてこれを攻めることはない。
19:32 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
19:33 彼は来た道を帰って、この町に、はいることはない。主がこれを言う。
19:33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.
19:34 わたしは自分のため、またわたしのしもべダビデのためにこの町を守って、これを救うであろう』」。
19:34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
19:35 その夜、主の使が出て、アッスリヤの陣営で十八万五千人を撃ち殺した。人々が朝早く起きて見ると、彼らは皆、死体となっていた。
19:35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and stroke in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
19:36 アッスリヤの王セナケリブは立ち去り、帰って行ってニネベにいたが、
19:36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
19:37 その神ニスロクの神殿で礼拝していた時、その子アデランメレクとシャレゼルが、つるぎをもって彼を殺し、ともにアララテの地へ逃げて行った。そこでその子エサルハドンが代って王となった。
19:37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons stroke him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his position.
20:1 そのころ、ヒゼキヤは病気になって死にかかっていた。アモツの子預言者イザヤは彼のところにきて言った、「主はこう仰せられます、『家の人に遺言をなさい。あなたは死にます。生きながらえることはできません』」。
20:1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Set yours house in order; for you shall die, and not live.
20:2 そこでヒゼキヤは顔を壁に向けて主に祈って言った、
20:2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
20:3 「ああ主よ、わたしが真実を真心をもってあなたの前に歩み、あなたの目にかなうことをおこなったのをどうぞ思い起してください」。そしてヒゼキヤは激しく泣いた。
20:3 I plead to you, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
20:4 イザヤがまだ中庭を出ないうちに主の言葉が彼に臨んだ、
20:4 And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
20:5 「引き返して、わたしの民の君ヒゼキヤに言いなさい、『あなたの父ダビデの神、主はこう仰せられる、わたしはあなたの祈を聞き、あなたの涙を見た。見よ、わたしはあなたをいやす。三日目にはあなたは主の宮に上るであろう。
20:5 Return, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will heal you: on the third day you shall go up unto the house of the LORD.
20:6 かつ、わたしはあなたのよわいを十五年増す。わたしはあなたと、この町とをアッスリヤの王の手から救い、わたしの名のため、またわたしのしもべダビデのためにこの町を守るであろう』」。
20:6 And I will add unto your days fifteen years; and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
20:7 そしてイザヤは言った、「干しいちじくのひとかたまりを持ってきて、それを腫物につけさせなさい。そうすれば直るでしょう」。
20:7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
20:8 ヒゼキヤはイザヤに言った、「主がわたしをいやされる事と、三日目にわたしが主の家に上ることについて、どんなしるしがありましょうか」。
20:8 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
20:9 イザヤは言った、「主が約束されたことを行われることについては、主からこのしるしを得られるでしょう。すなわち日影が十度進むか、あるいは十度退くかです」。
20:9 And Isaiah said, This sign shall you have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
20:10 ヒゼキヤは答えた、「日影が十度進むことはたやすい事です。むしろ日影を十度退かせてください」。
20:10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
20:11 そこで預言者イザヤが主に呼ばわると、アハズの日時計の上に進んだ日影を、十度退かせられた。
20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
20:12 そのころ、バラダンの子であるバビロンの王メロダクバラダンは、手紙と贈り物を持たせて使節をヒゼキヤにつかわした。これはヒゼキヤが病んでいることを聞いたからである。
20:12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
20:13 ヒゼキヤは彼らを喜び迎えて、宝物の蔵、金銀、香料、貴重な油および武器倉、ならびにその倉庫にあるすべての物を彼らに見せた。家にある物も、国にある物も、ヒゼキヤが彼らに見せない物は一つもなかった。
20:13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
20:14 その時、預言者イザヤはヒゼキヤ王のもとにきて言った、「あの人々は何を言いましたか。どこからきたのですか」。ヒゼキヤは言った、「彼らは遠い国から、バビロンからきたのです」。
20:14 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
20:15 イザヤは言った、「彼らはあなたの家で何を見ましたか」。ヒゼキヤは答えて言った、「わたしの家にある物を皆見ました。わたしの倉庫のうちには、わたしが彼らに見せない物は一つもありません」。
20:15 And he said, What have they seen in yours house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
20:16 そこでイザヤはヒゼキヤに言った、「主の言葉を聞きなさい、
20:16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
20:17 『主は言われる、見よ、すべてあなたの家にある物、および、あなたの先祖たちが今日までに積みたくわえた物の、バビロンに運び去られる日が来る。何も残るものはないであろう。
20:17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in yours house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, says the LORD.
20:18 また、あなたの身から出るあなたの子たちも連れ去られ、バビロンの王の宮殿で宦官となるであろう』」。
20:18 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall brought forth, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
20:19 ヒゼキヤはイザヤに言った、「あなたが言われた主の言葉は結構です」。彼は「せめて自分が世にあるあいだ、平和と安全があれば良いことではなかろうか」と思ったからである。
20:19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
20:20 ヒゼキヤのその他の事績とその武勇および、彼が貯水池と水道を作って、町に水を引いた事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
20:20 And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
20:21 ヒゼキヤはその先祖たちと共に眠って、その子マナセが代って王となった。
20:21 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his position.
21:1 マナセは十二歳で王となり、五十五年の間、エルサレムで世を治めた。母の名はヘフジバといった。
21:1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.
21:2 マナセは主がイスラエルの人々の前から追い払われた国々の民の憎むべきおこないにならって、主の目の前に悪をおこなった。
21:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
21:3 彼は父ヒゼキヤがこわした高き所を建て直し、またイスラエルの王アハブがしたようにバアルのために祭壇を築き、アシラ像を造り、かつ天の万象を拝んで、これに仕えた。
21:3 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
21:4 また主の宮のうちに数個の祭壇を築いた。これは主が「わたしの名をエルサレムに置こう」と言われたその宮である。
21:4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
21:5 彼はまた主の宮の二つの庭に天の万象のために祭壇を築いた。
21:5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
21:6 またその子を火に焼いてささげ物とし、占いをし、魔術を行い、口寄せと魔法使を用い、主の目の前に多くの悪を行って、主の怒りを引き起した。
21:6 And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
21:7 彼はまたアシラの彫像を作って主の宮に置いた。主はこの宮についてダビデとその子ソロモンに言われたことがある、「わたしはこの宮と、わたしがイスラエルのすべての部族のうちから選んだエルサレムとに、わたしの名を永遠に置く。
21:7 And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
21:8 もし、彼らがわたしが命じたすべての事、およびわたしのしもべモーセが命じたすべての律法を守り行うならば、イスラエルの足を、わたしが彼らの先祖たちに与えた地から、重ねて迷い出させないであろう」。
21:8 Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.
21:9 しかし彼らは聞きいれなかった。マナセが人々をいざなって悪を行ったことは、主がイスラエルの人々の前に滅ぼされた国々の民よりもはなはだしかった。
21:9 But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.
21:10 そこで主はそのしもべである預言者たちによって言われた、
21:10 And the LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,
21:11 「ユダの王マナセがこれらの憎むべき事を行い、彼の先にあったアモリびとの行ったすべての事よりも悪い事を行い、またその偶像をもってユダに罪を犯させたので、
21:11 Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols:
21:12 イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはエルサレムとユダに災をくだそうとしている。これを聞く者は、その耳が二つながら鳴るであろう。
21:12 Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle.
21:13 わたしはサマリヤをはかった測りなわと、アハブの家に用いた下げ振りをエルサレムにほどこし、人が皿をぬぐい、これをぬぐって伏せるように、エルサレムをぬぐい去る。
21:13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.
21:14 わたしは、わたしの嗣業の民の残りを捨て、彼らを敵の手に渡す。彼らはもろもろの敵のえじきとなり、略奪にあうであろう。
21:14 And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;
21:15 これは彼らの先祖たちがエジプトを出た日から今日に至るまで、彼らがわたしの目の前に悪を行って、わたしを怒らせたためである」。
21:15 Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
21:16 マナセはまた主の目の前に悪を行って、ユダに罪を犯させたその罪のほかに、罪なき者の血を多く流して、エルサレムのこの果から、かの果にまで満たした。
21:16 Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
21:17 マナセのその他の事績と、彼がおこなったすべての事およびその犯した罪は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
21:17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21:18 マナセは先祖たちと共に眠って、その家の園すなわちウザの園に葬られ、その子アモンが代って王となった。
21:18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his position.
21:19 アモンは王となった時二十二歳であって、エルサレムで二年の間、世を治めた。母はヨテバのハルツの娘で、名をメシュレメテといった。
21:19 Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.
21:20 アモンはその父マナセのおこなったように、主の目の前に悪を行った。
21:20 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.
21:21 すなわち彼はすべてその父の歩んだ道に歩み、父の仕えた偶像に仕えて、これを拝み、
21:21 And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:
21:22 先祖たちの神、主を捨てて、主の道に歩まなかった。
21:22 And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.
21:23 アモンの家来たちはついに彼に敵して徒党を結び、王をその家で殺したが、
21:23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.
21:24 国の民は、アモン王に敵して徒党を結んだ者をことごとく撃ち殺した。そして国の民はアモンの子ヨシヤを王としてアモンに代らせた。
21:24 And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his position.
21:25 アモンのその他の事績は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
21:25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21:26 アモンはウザの園にある墓に葬られ、その子ヨシヤが代って王となった。
21:26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his position.
22:1 ヨシヤは八歳で王となり、エルサレムで三十一年の間、世を治めた。母はボヅカテのアダヤの娘で、名をエデダといった。
22:1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
22:2 ヨシヤは主の目にかなう事を行い、先祖ダビデの道に歩んで右にも左にも曲らなかった。
22:2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
22:3 ヨシヤ王の第十八年に王はメシュラムの子アザリヤの子である書記官シャパンを主の宮につかわして言った、
22:3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
22:4 「大祭司ヒルキヤのもとへのぼって行って、主に宮にはいってきた銀、すなわち門を守る者が民から集めたものの総額を彼に数えさせ、
22:4 Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
22:5 それを工事をつかさどる主の宮の監督者の手に渡させ、彼らから主の宮で工事をする者にそれを渡して、宮の破れを繕わせなさい。
22:5 And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
22:6 すなわち木工と建築師と石工にそれを渡し、また宮を繕う材木と切り石を買わせなさい。
22:6 Unto carpenters, and builders, and stone workers, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
22:7 ただし彼らは正直に事を行うから、彼らに渡した銀については彼らと計算するに及ばない」。
22:7 Nevertheless there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
22:8 その時大祭司ヒルキヤは書記官シャパンに言った、「わたしは主の宮で律法の書を見つけました」。そしてヒルキヤがその書物をシャパンに渡したので、彼はそれを読んだ。
22:8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
22:9 書記官シャパンは王のもとへ行き、王に報告して言った、「しもべどもは宮にあった銀を皆出して、それを工事をつかさどる主の宮の監督者の手に渡しました」。
22:9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Your servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
22:10 書記官シャパンはまた王に告げて「祭司ヒルキヤはわたしに一つの書物を渡しました」と言い、それを王の前で読んだ。
22:10 And Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest has delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
22:11 王はその律法の書の言葉を聞くと、その衣を裂いた。
22:11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
22:12 そして王は祭司ヒルキヤと、シャパンの子アヒカムと、ミカヤの子アクボルと、書記官シャパンと、王の大臣アサヤとに命じて言った、
22:12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
22:13 「あなたがたは行って、この見つかった書物の言葉について、わたしのため、民のため、またユダ全国のために主に尋ねなさい。われわれの先祖たちがこの書物の言葉に聞き従わず、すべてわれわれについてしるされている事を行わなかったために、主はわれわれにむかって、大いなる怒りを発しておられるからです」。
22:13 Go all of you, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
22:14 そこで祭司ヒルキヤ、アヒカム、アクボル、シャパンおよびアサヤはシャルムの妻である女預言者ホルダのもとへ行った。シャルムはハルハスの子であるテクワの子で、衣装べやを守る者であった。その時ホルダはエルサレムの下町に住んでいた。彼らがホルダに告げたので、
22:14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
22:15 ホルダは彼らに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられます、『あなたがたをわたしにつかわした人に言いなさい。
22:15 And she said unto them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
22:16 主はこう言われます、見よ、わたしはユダの王が読んだあの書物のすべての言葉にしたがって、災をこの所と、ここに住んでいる民に下そうとしている。
22:16 Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read:
22:17 彼らがわたしを捨てて他の神々に香をたき、自分たちの手で作ったもろもろの物をもって、わたしを怒らせたからである。それゆえ、わたしはこの所にむかって怒りの火を発する。これは消えることがないであろう』。
22:17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
22:18 ただし主に尋ねるために、あなたがたをつかわしたユダの王にはこう言いなさい、『あなたが聞いた言葉についてイスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられます、
22:18 But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall all of you say to him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, As concerning the words which you have heard;
22:19 あなたは、わたしがこの所と、ここに住んでいる民にむかって、これは荒れ地となり、のろいとなるであろうと言うのを聞いた時、心に悔い、主の前にへりくだり、衣を裂いてわたしの前に泣いたゆえ、わたしもまたあなたの言うことを聞いたのであると主は言われる。
22:19 Because yours heart was tender, and you have humbled yourself before the LORD, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have rent your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you, says the LORD.
22:20 それゆえ、見よ、わたしはあなたを先祖たちのもとに集める。あなたは安らかに墓に集められ、わたしがこの所に下すもろもろの災を目に見ることはないであろう』」。彼らはこの言葉を王に持ち帰った。
22:20 Behold therefore, I will gather you unto your fathers, and you shall be gathered into your grave in peace; and yours eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
23:1 そこで王は人をつかわしてユダとエルサレムの長老たちをことごとく集めた。
23:1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
23:2 そして王はユダのもろもろの人々と、エルサレムのすべての住民および祭司、預言者ならびに大小のすべての民を従えて主の宮にのぼり、主の宮で見つかった契約の書の言葉をことごとく彼らに読み聞かせた。
23:2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
23:3 次いで王は柱のかたわらに立って、主の前に契約を立て、主に従って歩み、心をつくし精神をつくして、主の戒めと、あかしと、定めとを守り、この書物にしるされているこの契約の言葉を行うことを誓った。民は皆その契約に加わった。
23:3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
23:4 こうして王は大祭司ヒルキヤと、それに次ぐ祭司たちおよび門を守る者どもに命じて、主の神殿からバアルとアシラと天の万象とのために作ったもろもろの器を取り出させ、エルサレムの外のキデロンの野でそれを焼き、その灰をベテルに持って行かせた。
23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
23:5 また、ユダの町々とエルサレムの周囲にある高き所で香をたくためにユダの王たちが任命した祭司たちを廃し、またバアルと日と月と星宿と天の万象とに香をたく者どもをも廃した。
23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
23:6 彼はまた主の宮からアシラ像を取り出し、エルサレムの外のキデロン川に持って行って、キデロン川でそれを焼き、それを打ち砕いて粉とし、その粉を民の墓に投げすてた。
23:6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
23:7 また主の宮にあった神殿男娼の家をこわした。そこは女たちがアシラ像のために掛け幕を織る所であった。
23:7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
23:8 彼はまたユダの町々から祭司をことごとく召しよせ、また祭司が香をたいたゲバからベエルシバまでの高き所を汚し、また門にある高き所をこわした。これらの高き所は町のつかさヨシュアの門の入口にあり、町の門にはいる人の左にあった。
23:8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
23:9 高き所の祭司たちはエルサレムで主の祭壇にのぼることをしなかったが、その兄弟たちのうちにあって種入れぬパンを食べた。
23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
23:10 王はまた、だれもそのむすこ娘を火に焼いて、モレクにささげ物とすることのないように、ベンヒンノムの谷にあるトペテを汚した。
23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
23:11 またユダの王たちが太陽にささげて主の宮の門に置いた馬を、境内にある侍従ナタンメレクのへやのかたわらに移し、太陽の車を火で焼いた。
23:11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
23:12 また王はユダの王たちがアハズの高殿の屋上に造った祭壇と、マナセが主の宮の二つの庭に造った祭壇とをこわして、それを打ち砕き、砕けたものをキデロン川に投げすてた。
23:12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
23:13 また王はイスラエルの王ソロモンが昔シドンびとの憎むべき者アシタロテと、モアブびとの憎むべき者ケモシと、アンモンの人々の憎むべき者ミルコムのためにエルサレムの東、滅亡の山の南に築いた高き所を汚した。
23:13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
23:14 またもろもろの石柱を打ち砕き、アシラ像を切り倒し、人の骨をもってその所を満たした。
23:14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
23:15 また、ベテルにある祭壇と、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムが造った高き所、すなわちその祭壇と高き所とを彼はこわし、その石を打ち砕いて粉とし、かつアシラ像を焼いた。
23:15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
23:16 そしてヨシヤは身をめぐらして山に墓のあるのを見、人をつかわしてその墓から骨を取らせ、それをその祭壇の上で焼いて、それを汚した。昔、神の人が主の言葉としてこの事を呼ばわり告げたが、そのとおりになった。
23:16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchers that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchers, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
23:17 その時ヨシヤは「あそこに見える石碑は何か」と尋ねた。町の人々が彼に「あれはあなたがベテルの祭壇に対して行われたこれらの事を、ユダからきて預言した神の人の墓です」と言ったので、
23:17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the tomb of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel.
23:18 彼は言った、「そのままにして置きなさい。だれもその骨を移してはならない」。それでその骨と、サマリヤからきた預言者の骨には手をつけなかった。
23:18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
23:19 またイスラエルの王たちがサマリヤの町々に造って、主を怒らせた高き所の家も皆ヨシヤは取り除いて、彼がすべてベテルに行ったようにこれに行った。
23:19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
23:20 彼はまた、そこにあった高き所の祭司たちを皆祭壇の上で殺し、人の骨を祭壇の上で焼いた。こうして彼はエルサレムに帰った。
23:20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
23:21 そして王はすべての民に命じて、「あなたがたはこの契約の書にしるされているように、あなたがたの神、主に過越の祭を執り行いなさい」と言った。
23:21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
23:22 さばきづかさがイスラエルをさばいた日からこのかた、またイスラエルの王たちとユダの王たちの世にも、このような過越の祭を執り行ったことはなかったが、
23:22 Surely there was not held such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23:23 ヨシヤ王の第十八年に、エルサレムでこの過越の祭を主に執り行ったのである。
23:23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was held to the LORD in Jerusalem.
23:24 ヨシヤはまた祭司ヒルキヤが主の宮で見つけた書物にしるされている律法の言葉を確実に行うために、口寄せと占い師と、テラピムと偶像およびユダの地とエルサレムに見られるもろもろの憎むべき者を取り除いた。
23:24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
23:25 ヨシヤのように心をつくし、精神をつくし、力をつくしてモーセのすべての律法にしたがい、主に寄り頼んだ王はヨシヤの先にはなく、またその後にも彼のような者は起らなかった。
23:25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
23:26 けれども主はなおユダにむかって発せられた激しい大いなる怒りをやめられなかった。これはマナセがもろもろの腹だたしい行いをもって主を怒らせたためである。
23:26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him likewise.
23:27 それゆえ主は言われた、「わたしはイスラエルを移したように、ユダをもわたしの目の前から移し、わたしが選んだこのエルサレムの町と、わたしの名をそこに置こうと言ったこの宮とを捨てるであろう」。
23:27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
23:28 ヨシヤのその他の事績と、彼が行ったすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
23:28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
23:29 ヨシヤの世にエジプトの王パロ・ネコが、アッスリヤの王のところへ行こうと、ユフラテ川をさして上ってきたので、ヨシヤ王は彼を迎え撃とうと出て行ったが、パロ・ネコは彼を見るや、メギドにおいて彼を殺した。
23:29 In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
23:30 その家来たちは彼の死体を車に載せ、メギドからエルサレムに運んで彼の墓に葬った。国の民はヨシヤの子エホアハズを立て、彼に油を注ぎ、王として父に代らせた。
23:30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's position.
23:31 エホアハズは王となった時二十三歳で、エルサレムで三か月の間、世を治めた。母はリブナのエレミヤの娘で、名をハムタルといった。
23:31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
23:32 エホアハズは先祖たちがすべて行ったように主の目の前に悪を行ったが、
23:32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
23:33 パロ・ネコは彼をハマテの地のリブラにつないで置いて、エルサレムで世を治めることができないようにした。また銀百タラントと金一タラントのみつぎを国に課した。
23:33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
23:34 そしてパロ・ネコはヨシヤの子エリアキムを父ヨシヤに代って王とならせ、名をエホヤキムと改め、エホアハズをエジプトへ引いて行った。エホアハズはエジプトへ行ってそこで死んだ。
23:34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
23:35 エホヤキムは金銀をパロに送った。しかし彼はパロの命に従って金を送るために国に税を課し、国の民おのおのからその課税にしたがって金銀をきびしく取り立てて、それをパロ・ネコに送った。
23:35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
23:36 エホヤキムは二十五歳で王となり、エルサレムで十一年の間、世を治めた。母はルマのペダヤの娘で、名をゼビダといった。
23:36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
23:37 エホヤキムは先祖たちがすべて行ったように主の目の前に悪を行った。
23:37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
24:1 エホヤキムの世にバビロンの王ネブカデネザルが上ってきたので、エホヤキムは彼に隷属して三年を経たが、ついに翻って彼にそむいた。
24:1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
24:2 主はカルデヤびとの略奪隊、スリヤびとの略奪隊、モアブびとの略奪隊、アンモンびとの略奪隊をつかわしてエホヤキムを攻められた。すなわちユダを攻め、これを滅ぼすために彼らをつかわされた。主がそのしもべである預言者たちによって語られた言葉のとおりである。
24:2 And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servants the prophets.
24:3 これは全く主の命によってユダに臨んだもので、ユダを主の目の前から払い除くためであった。すなわちマナセがすべておこなったその罪のため、
24:3 Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
24:4 また彼が罪なき人の血を流し、罪なき人の血をエルサレムに満たしたためであって、主はその罪をゆるそうとはされなかった。
24:4 And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
24:5 エホヤキムのその他の事績と、彼がおこなったすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
24:5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24:6 エホヤキムは先祖たちとともに眠り、その子エホヤキンが代って王となった。
24:6 So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his position.
24:7 エジプトの王は再びその国から出てこなかった。バビロンの王がエジプトの川からユフラテ川まで、すべてエジプトの王に属するものを取ったからである。
24:7 And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.
24:8 エホヤキンは王となった時十八歳で、エルサレムで三か月の間、世を治めた。母はエルサレムのエルナタンの娘で、名をネホシタといった。
24:8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
24:9 エホヤキンはすべてその父がおこなったように主の目の前に悪を行った。
24:9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
24:10 そのころ、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルの家来たちはエルサレムに攻め上って、町を囲んだ。
24:10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
24:11 その家来たちが町を囲んでいたとき、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルもまた町に攻めてきた。
24:11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.
24:12 ユダの王エホヤキンはその母、その家来、そのつかさたち、および侍従たちと共に出て、バビロンの王に降服したので、バビロンの王は彼を捕虜とした。これはネブカデネザルの治世の第八年であった。
24:12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
24:13 彼はまた主の宮のもろもろの宝物および王の家の宝物をことごとく持ち出し、イスラエルの王ソロモンが造って主の神殿に置いたもろもろの金の器を切りこわした。主が言われたとおりである。
24:13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
24:14 彼はまたエルサレムのすべての市民、およびすべてのつかさとすべての勇士、ならびにすべての木工と鍛冶一万人を捕えて行った。残った者は国の民の貧しい者のみであった。
24:14 And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
24:15 さらに彼はエホヤキンをバビロンに捕えて行き、また王の母、王の妻たち、および侍従と国のうちのおもな人々をも、エルサレムからバビロンへ捕えて行った。
24:15 And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
24:16 またバビロンの王はすべて勇敢な者七千人、木工と鍛冶一千人ならびに強くて良く戦う者をみな捕えてバビロンへ連れて行った。
24:16 And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and able for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
24:17 そしてバビロンの王はエホヤキンの父の兄弟マッタニヤを王としてエホヤキンに代え、名をゼデキヤと改めた。
24:17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his position, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
24:18 ゼデキヤは二十一歳で王となり、エルサレムで十一年の間、世を治めた。母はリブナのエレミヤの娘で、名をハムタルといった。
24:18 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
24:19 ゼデキヤはすべてエホヤキムがおこなったように主の目の前に悪を行った。
24:19 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
24:20 エルサレムとユダにこのような事の起ったのは主の怒りによるので、主はついに彼らをみ前から払いすてられた。さてゼデキヤはバビロンの王にそむいた。
24:20 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
25:1 そこでゼデキヤの治世の第九年の十月十日に、バビロンの王ネブカデネザルはもろもろの軍勢を率い、エルサレムにきて、これにむかって陣を張り、周囲にとりでを築いてこれを攻めた。
25:1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
25:2 こうして町は囲まれて、ゼデキヤ王の第十一年にまで及んだが、
25:2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
25:3 その四月九日になって、町のうちにききんが激しくなり、その地の民に食物がなくなった。
25:3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
25:4 町の一角がついに破れたので、王はすべての兵士とともに、王の園のかたわらにある二つの城壁のあいだの門の道から夜のうちに逃げ出して、カルデヤびとが町を囲んでいる間に、アラバの方へ落ち延びた。
25:4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
25:5 しかしカルデヤびとの軍勢は王を追い、エリコの平地で彼に追いついた。彼の軍勢はみな彼を離れて散り去ったので、
25:5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
25:6 カルデヤびとは王を捕え、彼をリブラにいるバビロンの王のもとへ引いていって彼の罪を定め、
25:6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
25:7 ゼデキヤの子たちをゼデキヤの目の前で殺し、ゼデキヤの目をえぐり、足かせをかけてバビロンへ連れて行った。
25:7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
25:8 バビロンの王ネブカデネザルの第十九年の五月七日に、バビロンの王の臣、侍衛の長ネブザラダンがエルサレムにきて、
25:8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
25:9 主の宮と王の家とエルサレムのすべての家を焼いた。すなわち火をもってすべての大きな家を焼いた。
25:9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
25:10 また侍衛の長と共にいたカルデヤびとのすべての軍勢はエルサレムの周囲の城壁を破壊した。
25:10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
25:11 そして侍衛の長ネブザラダンは、町に残された民およびバビロン王に降服した者と残りの群衆を捕え移した。
25:11 Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away.
25:12 ただし侍衛の長はその地の貧しい者を残して、ぶどうを作る者とし、農夫とした。
25:12 But the captain of the guard left of the door of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.
25:13 カルデヤびとはまた主の宮の青銅の柱と、主の宮の洗盤の台と、青銅の海を砕いて、その青銅をバビロンに運び、
25:13 And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
25:14 またつぼと、十能と、心切りばさみと、香を盛る皿およびすべて神殿の務に用いる青銅の器、
25:14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.
25:15 また心取り皿と鉢を取り去った。侍衛の長はまた金で作った物と銀で作った物を取り去った。
25:15 And the fire-pans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
25:16 ソロモンが主の宮のために造った二つの柱と、一つの海と洗盤の台など、これらのもろもろの器の青銅の重さは量ることができなかった。
25:16 The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
25:17 一つの柱の高さは十八キュビトで、その上に青銅の柱頭があり、柱頭の高さは三キュビトで、柱頭の周囲に網細工とざくろがあって、みな青銅であった。他の柱もその網細工もこれと同じであった。
25:17 The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the capital upon it was brass: and the height of the capital three cubits; and the interwoven work, and pomegranates upon the capital round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with interwoven work.
25:18 侍衛の長は祭司長セラヤと次席の祭司ゼパニヤと三人の門を守る者を捕え、
25:18 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
25:19 また兵士をつかさどるひとりの役人と、王の前にはべる者のうち、町で見つかった者五人と、その地の民を募った軍勢の長の書記官と、町で見つかったその地の民六十人を町から捕え去った。
25:19 And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
25:20 侍衛の長ネブザラダンは彼らを捕えて、リブラにいるバビロンの王のもとへ連れて行ったので、
25:20 And Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:
25:21 バビロンの王はハマテの地のリブラで彼らを撃ち殺した。このようにしてユダはその地から捕え移された。
25:21 And the king of Babylon stroke them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.
25:22 さてバビロンの王ネブカデネザルはユダの地に残してとどまらせた民の上に、シャパンの子アヒカムの子であるゲダリヤを立てて総督とした。
25:22 And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
25:23 時に軍勢の長たちおよびその部下の人々は、バビロンの王がゲダリヤを総督としたことを聞いて、ミヅパにいるゲダリヤのもとにきた。すなわちネタニヤの子イシマエル、カレヤの子ヨハナン、ネトパびとタンホメテの子セラヤ、マアカびとの子ヤザニヤおよびその部下の人々がゲダリヤのもとにきた。
25:23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
25:24 ゲダリヤは彼らとその部下の人々に誓って言った、「あなたがたはカルデヤびとのしもべとなることを恐れてはならない。この地に住んで、バビロンの王に仕えなさい。そうすればあなたがたは幸福を得るでしょう」。
25:24 And Gedaliah swore to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.
25:25 ところが七月になって、王の血統のエリシャマの子であるネタニヤの子イシマエルは十人の者と共にきて、ゲダリヤを撃ち殺し、また彼と共にミヅパにいたユダヤ人と、カルデヤびとを殺した。
25:25 But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and stroke Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.
25:26 そのため、大小の民および軍勢の長たちは、みな立ってエジプトへ行った。彼らはカルデヤびとを恐れたからである。
25:26 And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.
25:27 ユダの王エホヤキンが捕え移されて後三十七年の十二月二十七日、すなわちバビロンの王エビルメロダクの治世の第一年に、王はユダの王エホヤキンを獄屋から出して
25:27 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
25:28 ねんごろに彼を慰め、その位を彼と共にバビロンにいる王たちの位よりも高くした。
25:28 And he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;
25:29 こうしてエホヤキンはその獄屋の衣を脱ぎ、一生の間、常に王の前で食事した。
25:29 And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.
25:30 彼は一生の間、たえず日々の分を王から賜わって、その食物とした。
25:30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
