11:1 それゆえ、あなたの神、主を愛し、常にそのさとしと、定めと、おきてと、戒めとを守らなければならない。
11:1 Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.
11:2 あなたがたは、きょう、次のことを知らなければならない。わたしが語るのは、あなたがたの子供たちに対してではない。彼らはあなたがたの神、主の訓練と、主の大いなる事と、その強い手と、伸べた腕とを知らず、また見なかった。
11:2 And know all of you this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

11:3 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

11:4 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD has destroyed them unto this day;
11:5 またあなたがたがこの所に来るまで、主が荒野で、あなたがたに行われた事、
11:5 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until all of you came into this place;
11:6 およびルベンの子のエリアブの子、ダタンとアビラムとにされた事、すなわちイスラエルのすべての人々の中で、地が口を開き、彼らと、その家族と、天幕と、彼らに従うすべてのものを、のみつくした事などを彼らは知らず、また見なかった。
11:6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
11:7 しかし、あなたがたは主が行われたこれらの大いなる事を、ことごとく目に見たのである。
11:7 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
11:8 ゆえに、わたしが、きょう、あなたがたに命じる戒めを、ことごとく守らなければならない。そうすればあなたがたは強くなり、渡って行って取ろうとする地にはいって、それを取ることができ、
11:8 Therefore shall all of you keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that all of you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, where all of you go to possess it;
11:9 かつ、主が先祖たちに誓って彼らとその子孫とに与えようと言われた地、乳と蜜の流れる国において、長く生きることができるであろう。
11:9 And that all of you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that flows with milk and honey.
11:10 あなたがたが行って取ろうとする地は、あなたがたが出てきたエジプトの地のようではない。あそこでは、青物畑でするように、あなたがたは種をまき、足でそれに水を注いだ。
11:10 For the land, where you go in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence all of you came out, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs:
11:11 しかし、あなたがたが渡って行って取る地は、山と谷の多い地で、天から降る雨で潤っている。
11:11 But the land, where all of you go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinks water of the rain of heaven:
11:12 その地は、あなたの神、主が顧みられる所で、年の始めから年の終りまで、あなたの神、主の目が常にその上にある。
11:12 A land which the LORD your God cares for: the eyes of the LORD your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
11:13 もし、きょう、あなたがたに命じるわたしの命令によく聞き従って、あなたがたの神、主を愛し、心をつくし、精神をつくして仕えるならば、
11:13 And it shall come to pass, if all of you shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
11:14 主はあなたがたの地に雨を、秋の雨、春の雨ともに、時にしたがって降らせ、穀物と、ぶどう酒と、油を取り入れさせ、
11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your corn, and your wine, and yours oil.
11:15 また家畜のために野に草を生えさせられるであろう。あなたは飽きるほど食べることができるであろう。
11:15 And I will send grass in your fields for your cattle, that you may eat and be full.
11:16 あなたがたは心が迷い、離れ去って、他の神々に仕え、それを拝むことのないよう、慎まなければならない。
11:16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and all of you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
11:17 おそらく主はあなたがたにむかい怒りを発して、天を閉ざされるであろう。そのため雨は降らず、地は産物を出さず、あなたがたは主が賜わる良い地から、すみやかに滅びうせるであろう。
11:17 And then the LORD's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest all of you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you.
11:18 それゆえ、これらのわたしの言葉を心と魂におさめ、またそれを手につけて、しるしとし、目の間に置いて覚えとし、
11:18 Therefore shall all of you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
11:19 これを子供たちに教え、家に座している時も、道を歩く時も、寝る時も、起きる時も、それについて語り、
11:19 And all of you shall teach them your children, speaking of them when you sit in yours house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
11:20 また家の入口の柱と、門にそれを書きしるさなければならない。
11:20 And you shall write them upon the door posts of yours house, and upon your gates:
11:21 そうすれば、主が先祖たちに与えようと誓われた地に、あなたがたの住む日数およびあなたがたの子供たちの住む日数は、天が地をおおう日数のように多いであろう。
11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
11:22 もしわたしがあなたがたに命じるこのすべての命令をよく守って行い、あなたがたの神、主を愛し、そのすべての道に歩み、主につき従うならば、
11:22 For if all of you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
11:23 主はこの国々の民を皆、あなたがたの前から追い払われ、あなたがたはあなたがたよりも大きく、かつ強い国々を取るに至るであろう。
11:23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and all of you shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
11:24 あなたがたが足の裏で踏む所は皆、あなたがたのものとなり、あなたがたの領域は荒野からレバノンに及び、また大川ユフラテから西の海に及ぶであろう。
11:24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
11:25 だれもあなたがたに立ち向かうことのできる者はないであろう。あなたがたの神、主は、かつて言われたように、あなたがたの踏み入る地の人々が、あなたがたを恐れおののくようにされるであろう。
11:25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that all of you shall tread upon, as he has said unto you.
11:26 見よ、わたしは、きょう、あなたがたの前に祝福と、のろいとを置く。
11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
11:27 もし、きょう、わたしがあなたがたに命じるあなたがたの神、主の命令に聞き従うならば、祝福を受けるであろう。
11:27 A blessing, if all of you obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
11:28 もしあなたがたの神、主の命令に聞き従わず、わたしが、きょう、あなたがたに命じる道を離れ、あなたがたの知らなかった他の神々に従うならば、のろいを受けるであろう。
11:28 And a curse, if all of you will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which all of you have not known.
11:29 あなたの神、主が、あなたの行って占領する地にあなたを導き入れられる時、あなたはゲリジム山に祝福を置き、エバル山にのろいを置かなければならない。
11:29 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD your God has brought you in unto the land where you go to possess it, that you shall put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

11:30 Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goes down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign opposite to Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
11:31 あなたがたはヨルダンを渡り、あなたがたの神、主が賜わる地にはいって、それを占領しようとしている。あなたがたはそれを占領して、そこに住むであろう。
11:31 For all of you shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and all of you shall possess it, and dwell therein.
11:32 それゆえ、わたしが、きょう、あなたがたに授ける定めと、おきてをことごとく守って行わなければならない。
11:32 And all of you shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
12:1 これはあなたの先祖たちの神、主が所有として賜わる地で、あなたがたが世に生きながらえている間、守り行わなければならない定めと、おきてである。
12:1 These are the statutes and judgments, which all of you shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of your fathers gives you to possess it, all the days that all of you live upon the earth.
12:2 あなたがたの追い払う国々の民が、その神々に仕えた所は、高い山にあるものも、丘にあるものも、青木の下にあるものも、ことごとくこわし、
12:2 All of you shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which all of you shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
12:3 その祭壇をこぼち、柱を砕き、アシラ像を火で焼き、また刻んだ神々の像を切り倒して、その名をその所から消し去らなければならない。
12:3 And all of you shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and all of you shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
12:4 ただし、あなたがたの神、主にはそのようにしてはならない。
12:4 All of you shall not do so unto the LORD your God.
12:5 あなたがたの神、主がその名を置くために、あなたがたの全部族のうちから選ばれる場所、すなわち主のすまいを尋ね求めて、そこに行き、
12:5 But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall all of you seek, and thither you shall come:
12:6 あなたがたの燔祭と、犠牲と、十分の一と、ささげ物と、誓願の供え物と、自発の供え物および牛、羊のういごをそこに携えて行って、
12:6 And thither all of you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:
12:7 そこであなたがたの神、主の前で食べ、あなたがたも、家族も皆、手を労して獲るすべての物を喜び楽しまなければならない。これはあなたの神、主の恵みによって獲るものだからである。
12:7 And there all of you shall eat before the LORD your God, and all of you shall rejoice in all that all of you put your hand unto, all of you and your households, wherein the LORD your God has blessed you.
12:8 そこでは、われわれがきょうここでしているように、めいめいで正しいと思うようにふるまってはならない。
12:8 All of you shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
12:9 あなたがたはまだ、あなたがたの神、主から賜わる安息と嗣業の地に、はいっていないのである。
12:9 For all of you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you.
12:10 しかし、あなたがたがヨルダンを渡り、あなたがたの神、主が嗣業として賜わる地に住むようになり、さらに主があなたがたの周囲の敵をことごとく除いて、安息を与え、あなたがたが安らかに住むようになる時、
12:10 But when all of you go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, and when he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that all of you dwell in safety;
12:11 あなたがたの神、主はその名を置くために、一つの場所を選ばれるであろう。あなたがたはそこにわたしの命じる物をすべて携えて行かなければならない。すなわち、あなたがたの燔祭と、犠牲と、十分の一と、ささげ物およびあなたがたが主に誓ったすべての誓願の供え物とを携えて行かなければならない。
12:11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall all of you bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which all of you vow unto the LORD:
12:12 そしてあなたがたのむすこ、娘、しもべ、はしためと共にあなたがたの神、主の前に喜び楽しまなければならない。また町の内におるレビびととも、そうしなければならない。彼はあなたがたのうちに分け前がなく、嗣業を持たないからである。
12:12 And all of you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, all of you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your male servants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he has no part nor inheritance with you.
12:13 慎んで、すべてあなたがよいと思う場所で、みだりに燔祭をささげないようにしなければならない。
12:13 Take heed to yourself that you offer not your burnt offerings in every place that you see:
12:14 ただあなたの部族の一つのうちに、主が選ばれるその場所で、燔祭をささげ、またわたしが命じるすべての事をしなければならない。
12:14 But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.
12:15 しかし、あなたの神、主が賜わる恵みにしたがって、すべて心に好む獣を、どの町ででも殺して、その肉を食べることができる。すなわち、かもしかや雄じかの肉と同様にそれを、汚れた人も、清い人も、食べることができる。
12:15 Notwithstanding you may kill and eat flesh in all your gates, whatsoever your soul lusts after, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.
12:16 ただし、その血は食べてはならない。水のようにそれを地に注がなければならない。
12:16 Only all of you shall not eat the blood; all of you shall pour it upon the earth as water.

12:17 You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your corn, or of your wine, or of your oil, or the firstlings of your herds or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, or heave offering of yours hand:
12:18 あなたの神、主が選ばれる場所で、あなたの神、主の前でそれを食べなければならない。すなわちあなたのむすこ、娘、しもべ、はしため、および町の内におるレビびとと共にそれを食べ、手を労して獲るすべての物を、あなたの神、主の前に喜び楽しまなければならない。
12:18 But you must eat them before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD your God shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates: and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God in all that you put yours hands unto.
12:19 慎んで、あなたが世に生きながらえている間、レビびとを捨てないようにしなければならない。
12:19 Take heed to yourself that you forsake not the Levite as long as you live upon the earth.
12:20 あなたの神、主が約束されたように、あなたの領域を広くされるとき、あなたは肉を食べたいと願って、『わたしは肉を食べよう』と言うであろう。その時、あなたはほしいだけ肉を食べることができる。
12:20 When the LORD your God shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, I will eat flesh, because your soul longs to eat flesh; you may eat flesh, whatsoever your soul lusts after.
12:21 もしあなたの神、主がその名を置くために選ばれる場所が、遠く離れているならば、わたしが命じるように、主が賜わる牛、羊をほふり、門の内で、ほしいだけ食べることができる。
12:21 If the place which the LORD your God has chosen to put his name there be too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you, and you shall eat in your gates whatsoever your soul lusts after.
12:22 かもしかや、雄じかを食べるように、それを食べることができる。すなわち汚れた人も、清い人も一様にそれを食べることができる。
12:22 Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so you shall eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.
12:23 ただ堅く慎んで、その血を食べないようにしなければならない。血は命だからである。その命を肉と一緒に食べてはならない。
12:23 Only be sure that you eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and you may not eat the life with the flesh.
12:24 あなたはそれを食べてはならない。水のようにそれを地に注がなければならない。
12:24 You shall not eat it; you shall pour it upon the earth as water.
12:25 あなたはそれを食べてはならない。こうして、主が正しいと見られる事を行うならば、あなたにも後の子孫にも、さいわいがあるであろう。
12:25 You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
12:26 ただあなたのささげる聖なる物と、誓願の物とは、主が選ばれる場所へ携えて行かなければならない。
12:26 Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:
12:27 そして燔祭をささげる時は、肉と血とをあなたの神、主の祭壇の上にささげなければならない。犠牲をささげる時は、血をあなたの神、主の祭壇にそそぎかけ、肉はみずから食べることができる。
12:27 And you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD your God: and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD your God, and you shall eat the flesh.
12:28 あなたはわたしが命じるこれらの事を、ことごとく聞いて守らなければならない。こうしてあなたの神、主が見て良いとし、正しいとされる事を行うならば、あなたにも後の子孫にも、長くさいわいがあるであろう。
12:28 Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you for ever, when you do that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.
12:29 あなたの神、主が、あなたの行って追い払おうとする国々の民を、あなたの前から断ち滅ぼされ、あなたがついにその国々を獲て、その地に住むようになる時、
12:29 When the LORD your God shall cut off the nations from before you, where you go to possess them, and you succeed them, and dwell in their land;
12:30 あなたはみずから慎み、彼らがあなたの前から滅ぼされた後、彼らにならって、わなにかかってはならない。また彼らの神々を尋ね求めて、『これらの国々の民はどのようにその神々に仕えたのか、わたしもそのようにしよう』と言ってはならない。
12:30 Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before you; and that you enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
12:31 あなたの神、主に対しては、そのようにしてはならない。彼らは主の憎まれるもろもろの忌むべき事を、その神々にむかって行い、むすこ、娘をさえ火に焼いて、神々にささげたからである。
12:31 You shall not do so unto the LORD your God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hates, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
12:32 あなたがたはわたしが命じるこのすべての事を守って行わなければならない。これにつけ加えてはならない。また減らしてはならない。
12:32 Whatsoever I command you, observe to do it: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
13:1 あなたがたのうちに預言者または夢みる者が起って、しるしや奇跡を示し、
13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,
13:2 あなたに告げるそのしるしや奇跡が実現して、あなたがこれまで知らなかった『ほかの神々に、われわれは従い仕えよう』と言っても、
13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spoke unto you, saying, Let us go after other gods, which you have not known, and let us serve them;
13:3 あなたはその預言者または夢みる者の言葉に聞き従ってはならない。あなたがたの神、主はあなたがたが心をつくし、精神をつくして、あなたがたの神、主を愛するか、どうかを知ろうと、このようにあなたがたを試みられるからである。
13:3 You shall not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proves you, to know whether all of you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
13:4 あなたがたの神、主に従って歩み、彼を恐れ、その戒めを守り、その言葉に聞き従い、彼に仕え、彼につき従わなければならない。
13:4 All of you shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and all of you shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
13:5 その預言者または夢みる者を殺さなければならない。あなたがたをエジプトの国から導き出し、奴隷の家からあがなわれたあなたがたの神、主にあなたがたをそむかせ、あなたの神、主が歩めと命じられた道を離れさせようとして語るゆえである。こうしてあなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he has spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust you out of the way which the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. So shall you put the evil away from the midst of you.
13:6 同じ母に生れたあなたの兄弟、またはあなたのむすこ、娘、またはあなたのふところの妻、またはあなたと身命を共にする友が、ひそかに誘って『われわれは行って他の神々に仕えよう』と言うかも知れない。これはあなたも先祖たちも知らなかった神々、
13:6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, which is as yours own soul, entice you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;
13:7 すなわち地のこのはてから、地のかのはてまで、あるいは近く、あるいは遠く、あなたの周囲にある民の神々である。
13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
13:8 しかし、あなたはその人に従ってはならない。その人の言うことを聞いてはならない。その人をあわれんではならない。その人を惜しんではならない。その人をかばってはならない。
13:8 You shall not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall yours eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him:

13:9 But you shall surely kill him; yours hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

13:10 And you shall stone him with stones, that he die; because he has sought to thrust you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

13:11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
13:12 あなたの神、主があなたに与えて住まわせられる町の一つで、
13:12 If you shall hear say in one of your cities, which the LORD your God has given you to dwell there, saying,
13:13 よこしまな人々があなたがたのうちに起って、あなたがたの知らなかった『ほかの神々に、われわれは行って仕えよう』と言って、その町に住む人々を誘惑したことを聞くならば、
13:13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which all of you have not known;
13:14 あなたはそれを尋ね、探り、よく問いたださなければならない。そして、そのような憎むべき事があなたがたのうちに行われた事が、真実で、確かならば、
13:14 Then shall you enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;

13:15 You shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
13:16 またそのすべてのぶんどり物は、町の広場の中央に集め、火をもってその町と、すべてのぶんどり物とを、ことごとく焼いて、あなたの神、主にささげなければならない。これはながく荒塚となって、再び建て直されないであろう。
13:16 And you shall gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shall burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof everything, for the LORD your God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
13:17 そののろわれた物は一つもあなたの手に留めおいてはならない。主が激しい怒りをやめ、あなたに慈悲を施して、あなたをあわれみ、先祖たちに誓われたように、あなたの数を多くされるためである。
13:17 And there shall cleave nothing of the cursed thing to yours hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion upon you, and multiply you, as he has sworn unto your fathers;
13:18 あなたの神、主の言葉に聞き従い、わたしが、きょう、命じるすべての戒めを守り、あなたの神、主が正しいと見られる事を行うならば、このようになるであろう。
13:18 When you shall hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD your God.
14:1 あなたがたはあなたがたの神、主の子供である。死んだ人のために自分の身に傷をつけてはならない。また額の髪をそってはならない。
14:1 All of you are the children of the LORD your God: all of you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
14:2 あなたはあなたの神、主の聖なる民だからである。主は地のおもてのすべての民のうちからあなたを選んで、自分の宝の民とされた。
14:2 For you are an holy people unto the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be an exclusive people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

14:3 You shall not eat any abominable thing.
14:4 あなたがたの食べることができる獣は次のとおりである。すなわち牛、羊、やぎ、
14:4 These are the beasts which all of you shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

14:5 The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.

14:6 And every beast that parts the hoof, and cleaves the cleft into two claws, and chews the cud among the beasts, that all of you shall eat.

14:7 Nevertheless these all of you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

14:8 And the swine, because it divides the hoof, yet chews not the cud, it is unclean unto you: all of you shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.

14:9 These all of you shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall all of you eat:

14:19 And every creeping thing that flies is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

14:20 But of all clean fowls all of you may eat.

14:21 All of you shall not eat of anything that dies of itself: you shall give it unto the stranger that is in your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it unto an foreigner: for you are an holy people unto the LORD your God. You shall not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

14:22 You shall truly tithe all the increase of your seed, that the field brings forth year by year.

14:23 And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of your corn, of your wine, and of yours oil, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks; that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.

14:26 And you shall bestow that money for whatsoever your soul lusts after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever your soul desires: and you shall eat there before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice, you, and yours household,

14:27 And the Levite that is within your gates; you shall not forsake him; for he has no part nor inheritance with you.

14:28 At the end of three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of yours increase the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates:

14:29 And the Levite, (because he has no part nor inheritance with you,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of yours hand which you do.
15:1 あなたは七年の終りごとに、ゆるしを行わなければならない。
15:1 At the end of every seven years you shall make a release.

15:2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lends ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD's release.

15:3 Of a foreigner you may exact it again: but that which is yours with your brother yours hand shall release;

15:4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it:

15:5 Only if you carefully hearken unto the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command you this day.

15:6 For the LORD your God blesses you, as he promised you: and you shall lend unto many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.

15:7 If there be among you a poor man of one of your brethren within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden yours heart, nor shut yours hand from your poor brother:
15:8 必ず彼に手を開いて、その必要とする物を貸し与え、乏しいのを補わなければならない。
15:8 But you shall open yours hand wide unto him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants.

15:9 Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and yours eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry unto the LORD against you, and it be sin unto you.

15:12 And if your brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto you, and serve you six years; then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.

15:13 And when you send him out free from you, you shall not let him go away empty:

15:15 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you: therefore I command you this thing to day.

15:16 And it shall be, if he say unto you, I will not go away from you; because he loves you and yours house, because he is well with you;

15:19 All the first born males that come of your herd and of your flock you shall sanctify unto the LORD your God: you shall do no work with the first born of your bullock, nor shear the first born of your sheep.
15:20 あなたの神、主が選ばれる所で、主の前にあなたは家族と共に年ごとにそれを食べなければならない。
15:20 You shall eat it before the LORD your God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, you and your household.

15:21 And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, you shall not sacrifice it unto the LORD your God.

16:3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shall you eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for you came forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that you may remember the day when you came forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

16:4 And there shall be no leavened bread seen with you in all your coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which you sacrificed the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.

16:5 You may not sacrifice the passover within any of your gates, which the LORD your God gives you:

16:6 But at the place which the LORD your God shall choose to place his name in, there you shall sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came forth out of Egypt.

16:7 And you shall roast and eat it in the place which the LORD your God shall choose: and you shall turn in the morning, and go unto your tents.

16:8 Six days you shall eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God: you shall do no work therein.

16:9 Seven weeks shall you number unto you: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as you begin to put the sickle to the corn.

16:10 And you shall keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD your God with a tribute of a freewill offering of yours hand, which you shall give unto the LORD your God, according as the LORD your God has blessed you:

16:11 And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD your God has chosen to place his name there.

16:12 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt: and you shall observe and do these statutes.

16:15 Seven days shall you keep a solemn feast unto the LORD your God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD your God shall bless you in all yours increase, and in all the works of yours hands, therefore you shall surely rejoice.

16:16 Three times in a year shall all your males appear before the LORD your God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you.

16:18 Judges and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

16:21 You shall not plant you a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD your God, which you shall make you.

17:1 You shall not sacrifice unto the LORD your God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evil thing: for that is an abomination unto the LORD your God.
17:2 あなたの神、主が賜わる町で、あなたがたのうちに、もし男子または女子があなたの神、主の前に悪事をおこなって、契約にそむき、
17:2 If there be found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, man or woman, that has wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing his covenant,

17:3 And has gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

17:7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put the evil away from among you.

17:12 And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and you shall put away the evil from Israel.
17:13 そうすれば民は皆、聞いて恐れ、重ねてほしいままにふるまうことをしないであろう。
17:13 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.
17:14 あなたの神、主が賜わる地に行き、それを獲てそこに住むようになる時、もしあなたが『わたしも周囲のすべての国びとのように、わたしの上に王を立てよう』と言うならば、
17:14 When you are come unto the land which the LORD your God gives you, and shall possess it, and shall dwell therein, and shall say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are about me;
17:15 必ずあなたの神、主が選ばれる者を、あなたの上に立てて王としなければならない。同胞のひとりを、あなたの上に立てて王としなければならない。同胞でない外国人をあなたの上に立ててはならない。
17:15 You shall in any way set him king over you, whom the LORD your God shall choose: one from among your brethren shall you set king over you: you may not set a stranger over you, which is not your brother.
17:16 王となる人は自分のために馬を多く獲ようとしてはならない。また馬を多く獲るために民をエジプトに帰らせてはならない。主はあなたがたにむかって、『この後かさねてこの道に帰ってはならない』と仰せられたからである。
17:16 But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD has said unto you, All of you shall henceforth return no more that way.
17:17 また妻を多く持って心を、迷わしてはならない。また自分のために金銀を多くたくわえてはならない。
17:17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
17:18 彼が国の王位につくようになったら、レビびとである祭司の保管する書物から、この律法の写しを一つの書物に書きしるさせ、
17:18 And it shall be, when he sits upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
17:19 世に生きながらえる日の間、常にそれを自分のもとに置いて読み、こうしてその神、主を恐れることを学び、この律法のすべての言葉と、これらの定めとを守って行わなければならない。
17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
17:20 そうすれば彼の心が同胞を見くだして、高ぶることなく、また戒めを離れて、右にも左にも曲ることなく、その子孫と共にイスラエルにおいて、長くその位にとどまることができるであろう。
17:20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
18:1 レビびとである祭司すなわちレビの全部族はイスラエルのうちに、分も嗣業も持たない。彼らは主にささげられる火祭の物と、その他のささげ物とを食べなければならない。
18:1 The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
18:2 彼らはその兄弟のうちに嗣業を持たない。かつて彼らに約束されたとおり主が彼らの嗣業である。
18:2 Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he has said unto them.
18:3 祭司が民から受ける分は次のとおりである。すなわち犠牲をささげる者は、牛でも、羊でも、その肩と、両方のほおと、胃とを祭司に与えなければならない。
18:3 And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
18:4 また穀物と、ぶどう酒と、油の初物および羊の毛の初物をも彼に与えなければならない。
18:4 The first-fruit also of your corn, of your wine, and of yours oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, shall you give him.
18:5 あなたの神、主がすべての部族のうちから彼を選び出して、彼とその子孫を長く主の名によって立って仕えさせられるからである。
18:5 For the LORD your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
18:6 レビびとはイスラエルの全地のうち、どこにいる者でも、彼が宿っている町を出て、主が選ばれる場所に行くならば、
18:6 And if a Levite come from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
18:7 彼は主の前に立っているすべての兄弟レビびとと同じように、その神、主の名によって仕えることができる。
18:7 Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.
18:8 彼が食べる分は彼らと同じである。ただし彼はこのほかに父の遺産を売って獲た物を持つことができる。
18:8 They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which comes of the sale of his patrimony.
18:9 あなたの神、主が賜わる地にはいったならば、その国々の民の憎むべき事を習いおこなってはならない。
18:9 When you are come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
18:10 あなたがたのうちに、自分のむすこ、娘を火に焼いてささげる者があってはならない。また占いをする者、卜者、易者、魔法使、
18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
18:11 呪文を唱える者、口寄せ、かんなぎ、死人に問うことをする者があってはならない。
18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
18:12 主はすべてこれらの事をする者を憎まれるからである。そしてこれらの憎むべき事のゆえにあなたの神、主は彼らをあなたの前から追い払われるのである。
18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you.
18:13 あなたの神、主の前にあなたは全き者でなければならない。
18:13 You shall be perfect with the LORD your God.
18:14 あなたが追い払うかの国々の民は卜者、占いをする者に聞き従うからである。しかし、あなたには、あなたの神、主はそうする事を許されない。
18:14 For these nations, which you shall possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for you, the LORD your God has not suffered you so to do.
18:15 あなたの神、主はあなたのうちから、あなたの同胞のうちから、わたしのようなひとりの預言者をあなたのために起されるであろう。あなたがたは彼に聞き従わなければならない。
18:15 The LORD your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him all of you shall hearken;
18:16 これはあなたが集会の日にホレブであなたの神、主に求めたことである。すなわちあなたは『わたしが死ぬことのないようにわたしの神、主の声を二度とわたしに聞かせないでください。またこの大いなる火を二度と見させないでください』と言った。
18:16 According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
18:17 主はわたしに言われた、『彼らが言ったことは正しい。
18:17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18:18 わたしは彼らの同胞のうちから、おまえのようなひとりの預言者を彼らのために起して、わたしの言葉をその口に授けよう。彼はわたしが命じることを、ことごとく彼らに告げるであろう。
18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
18:19 彼がわたしの名によって、わたしの言葉を語るのに、もしこれに聞き従わない者があるならば、わたしはそれを罰するであろう。
18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
18:20 ただし預言者が、わたしが語れと命じないことを、わたしの名によってほしいままに語り、あるいは他の神々の名によって語るならば、その預言者は殺さなければならない』。
18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
18:21 あなたは心のうちに『われわれは、その言葉が主の言われたものでないと、どうして知り得ようか』と言うであろう。
18:21 And if you say in yours heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?
18:22 もし預言者があって、主の名によって語っても、その言葉が成就せず、またその事が起らない時は、それは主が語られた言葉ではなく、その預言者がほしいままに語ったのである。その預言者を恐れるに及ばない。
18:22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.
19:1 あなたの神、主が国々の民を滅ぼしつくして、あなたの神、主がその地を賜わり、あなたがそれを獲て、その町々と、その家々に住むようになる時は、
19:1 When the LORD your God has cut off the nations, whose land the LORD your God gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses;
19:2 あなたの神、主が与えて獲させられる地のうちに、三つの町をあなたのために指定しなければならない。
19:2 You shall separate three cities for you in the midst of your land, which the LORD your God gives you to possess it.
19:3 そしてそこに行く道を備え、またあなたの神、主があなたに継がせられる地の領域を三区に分け、すべて人を殺した者をそこにのがれさせなければならない。
19:3 You shall prepare you a way, and divide the coasts of your land, which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
19:4 人を殺した者がそこにのがれて、命を全うすべき場合は次のとおりである。すなわち以前から憎むこともないのに、知らないでその隣人を殺した場合、
19:4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso kills his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;
19:5 たとえば人が木を切ろうとして、隣人と一緒に林に入り、手におのを取って、木を切り倒そうと撃ちおろすとき、その頭が柄から抜け、隣人にあたって、死なせたような場合がそれである。そういう人はこれらの町の一つにのがれて、命を全うすることができる。
19:5 As when a man goes into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the wooden handle, and lights upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
19:6 そうしなければ、復讐する者が怒って、その殺した者を追いかけ、道が長いために、ついに追いついて殺すであろう。しかし、その人は以前から彼を憎んでいた者でないから、殺される理由はない。
19:6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
19:7 それでわたしはあなたに命じて『三つの町をあなたのために指定しなければならない』と言ったのである。
19:7 Wherefore I command you, saying, You shall separate three cities for you.
19:8 あなたの神、主が先祖たちに誓われたように、あなたの領域を広め、先祖たちに与えると言われた地を、ことごとく賜わる時、――
19:8 And if the LORD your God enlarge your coast, as he has sworn unto your fathers, and give you all the land which he promised to give unto your fathers;
19:9 わたしが、きょう、命じるこのすべての戒めを守って、それをおこない、あなたの神、主を愛して、常にその道に歩む時――あなたはこれら三つの町のほかに、また三つの町をあなたのために増し加えなければならない。
19:9 If you shall keep all these commandments to do them, which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shall you add three cities more for you, beside these three:
19:10 これはあなたの神、主が与えて嗣業とされる地のうちで、罪のない者の血が流されないようにするためである。そうしなければ、その血を流したとがは、あなたに帰するであろう。
19:10 That innocent blood be not shed in your land, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance, and so blood be upon you.
19:11 しかし、もし人が隣人を憎んでそれをつけねらい、立ちかかってその人を撃ち殺し、そしてこれらの町の一つにのがれるならば、
19:11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and strike him mortally that he die, and flees into one of these cities:
19:12 その町の長老たちは人をつかわして彼をそこから引いてこさせ、復讐する者にわたして殺させなければならない。
19:12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
19:13 彼をあわれんではならない。罪のない者の血を流したとがを、イスラエルから除かなければならない。そうすればあなたにさいわいがあるであろう。
19:13 Yours eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.
19:14 あなたの神、主が与えて獲させられる地で、あなたが継ぐ嗣業において、先祖の定めたあなたの隣人の土地の境を移してはならない。
19:14 You shall not remove your neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in yours inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess it.
19:15 どんな不正であれ、どんなとがであれ、すべて人の犯す罪は、ただひとりの証人によって定めてはならない。ふたりの証人の証言により、または三人の証人の証言によって、その事を定めなければならない。
19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
19:16 もし悪意のある証人が起って、人に対して悪い証言をすることがあれば、
19:16 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
19:17 その相争うふたりの者は主の前に行って、その時の祭司と裁判人の前に立たなければならない。
19:17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
19:18 その時、裁判人は詳細にそれを調べなければならない。そしてその証人がもし偽りの証人であって、兄弟にむかって偽りの証言をした者であるならば、
19:18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother;
19:19 あなたがたは彼が兄弟にしようとしたことを彼に行い、こうしてあなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
19:19 Then shall all of you do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shall you put the evil away from among you.
19:20 そうすれば他の人たちは聞いて恐れ、その後ふたたびそのような悪をあなたがたのうちに行わないであろう。
19:20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
19:21 あわれんではならない。命には命、目には目、歯には歯、手には手、足には足をもって償わせなければならない。
19:21 And yours eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
20:1 あなたが敵と戦うために出る時、馬と戦車と、あなたよりも大ぜいの軍隊を見ても、彼らを恐れてはならない。あなたをエジプトの国から導きのぼられたあなたの神、主が共におられるからである。
20:1 When you go out to battle against yours enemies, and see horses, and chariots, and a people more than you, be not afraid of them: for the LORD your God is with you, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
20:2 あなたがたが戦いに臨むとき、祭司は進み出て民に告げて、
20:2 And it shall be, when all of you are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,
20:3 彼らに言わなければならない、『イスラエルよ聞け。あなたがたは、きょう、敵と戦おうとしている。気おくれしてはならない。恐れてはならない。あわててはならない。彼らに驚いてはならない。
20:3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, all of you approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be all of you terrified because of them;
20:4 あなたがたの神、主が共に行かれ、あなたがたのために敵と戦って、あなたがたを救われるからである』。
20:4 For the LORD your God is he that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
20:5 次につかさたちは民に告げて言わなければならない。『新しい家を建てて、まだそれをささげていない者があれば、その人を家に帰らせなければならない。そうしなければ、彼が戦いに死んだとき、ほかの人がそれをささげるようになるであろう。
20:5 And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.
20:6 ぶどう畑を作って、まだその実を食べていない者があれば、その人を家に帰らせなければならない。そうしなければ彼が戦いに死んだとき、ほかの人がそれを食べるようになるであろう。
20:6 And what man is he that has planted a vineyard, and has not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it.
20:7 女と婚約して、まだその女をめとっていない者があれば、その人を家に帰らせなければならない。そうしなければ彼が戦いに死んだとき、ほかの人が彼女をめとるようになるであろう』。
20:7 And what man is there that has betrothed a wife, and has not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
20:8 つかさたちは、また民に告げて言わなければならない。『恐れて気おくれする者があるならば、その人を家に帰らせなければならない。そうしなければ、兄弟たちの心が彼の心のようにくじけるであろう』。
20:8 And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart.
20:9 つかさたちがこのように民に告げ終ったならば、軍勢のかしらたちを立てて民を率いさせなければならない。
20:9 And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.
20:10 一つの町へ進んで行って、それを攻めようとする時は、まず穏やかに降服することを勧めなければならない。
20:10 When you come nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.
20:11 もしその町が穏やかに降服しようと答えて、門を開くならば、そこにいるすべての民に、みつぎを納めさせ、あなたに仕えさせなければならない。
20:11 And it shall be, if it make you answer of peace, and open unto you, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto you, and they shall serve you.
20:12 もし穏やかに降服せず、戦おうとするならば、あなたはそれを攻めなければならない。
20:12 And if it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it:
20:13 そしてあなたの神、主がそれをあなたの手にわたされる時、つるぎをもってそのうちの男をみな撃ち殺さなければならない。
20:13 And when the LORD your God has delivered it into yours hands, you shall strike every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
20:14 ただし女、子供、家畜およびすべて町のうちにあるもの、すなわちぶんどり物は皆、戦利品として取ることができる。また敵からぶんどった物はあなたの神、主が賜わったものだから、あなたはそれを用いることができる。
20:14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shall you take unto yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of yours enemies, which the LORD your God has given you.
20:15 遠く離れている町々、すなわちこれらの国々に属さない町々には、すべてこのようにしなければならない。
20:15 Thus shall you do unto all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.
20:16 ただし、あなたの神、主が嗣業として与えられるこれらの民の町々では、息のある者をひとりも生かしておいてはならない。
20:16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD your God does give you for an inheritance, you shall keep alive nothing that breathes:
20:17 すなわちヘテびと、アモリびと、カナンびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとはみな滅ぼして、あなたの神、主が命じられたとおりにしなければならない。
20:17 But you shall utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD your God has commanded you:
20:18 これは彼らがその神々を拝んでおこなったすべての憎むべき事を、あなたがたに教えて、それを行わせ、あなたがたの神、主に罪を犯させることのないためである。
20:18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should all of you sin against the LORD your God.
20:19 長く町を攻め囲んで、それを取ろうとする時でも、おのをふるって、そこの木を切り枯らしてはならない。それはあなたの食となるものだから、切り倒してはならない。あなたは田野の木までも、人のように攻めなければならないであろうか。
20:19 When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for you may eat of them, and you shall not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:
20:20 ただし実を結ばない木とわかっている木は切り倒して、あなたと戦っている町にむかい、それをもってとりでを築き、陥落するまで、それを攻めることができる。
20:20 Only the trees which you know that they be not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down; and you shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it be subdued.
21:1 あなたの神、主が与えて獲させられる地で、殺されて野に倒れている人があって、だれが殺したのかわからない時は、
21:1 If one be found slain in the land which the LORD your God gives you to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who has slain him:
21:2 長老たちと、さばきびとたちが出てきて、その殺された者のある所から、周囲の町々までの距離をはからなければならない。
21:2 Then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:
21:3 そしてその殺された者のある所に最も近い町の長老たちは、まだ使わない、まだくびきを負わせて引いたことのない若い雌牛をとり、
21:3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which has not been wrought with, and which has not drawn in the yoke;
21:4 その町の長老たちはその雌牛を、耕すことも、種まくこともしない、絶えず水の流れている谷へ引いていって、その谷で雌牛のくびを折らなければならない。
21:4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:
21:5 その時レビの子孫である祭司たちは、そこに進み出なければならない。彼らはあなたの神、主が自分に仕えさせ、また主の名によって祝福させるために選ばれた者で、すべての論争と、すべての暴行は彼らの言葉によって解決されるからである。
21:5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD your God has chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
21:6 そしてその殺された者のある所に最も近い町の長老たちは皆、彼らが谷でくびを折った雌牛の上で手を洗い、
21:6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:
21:7 証言して言わなければならない、『われわれの手はこの血を流さず、われわれの目もそれを見なかった。
21:7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
21:8 主よ、あなたがあがなわれた民イスラエルをおゆるしください。罪のない者の血を流したとがを、あなたの民イスラエルのうちにとどめないでください。そして血を流したとがをおゆるしください』。
21:8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto your people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
21:9 このようにして、あなたは主が正しいと見られる事をおこない、罪のない者の血を流したとがを、あなたがたのうちから除き去らなければならない。
21:9 So shall you put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when you shall do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
21:10 あなたが出て敵と戦う際、あなたの神、主がそれをあなたの手にわたされ、あなたがそれを捕虜とした時、
21:10 When you go forth to war against yours enemies, and the LORD your God has delivered them into yours hands, and you have taken them captive,
21:11 もし捕虜のうちに美しい女のあるのを見て、それを好み、妻にめとろうとするならば、
21:11 And see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire unto her, that you would have her to your wife;
21:12 その女をあなたの家に連れて帰らなければならない。女は髪をそり、つめを切り、
21:12 Then you shall bring her home to yours house, and she shall shave her head, and trim her nails;
21:13 また捕虜の着物を脱ぎすてて、あなたの家におり、自分の父母のために一か月のあいだ嘆かなければならない。そして後、あなたは彼女の所にはいって、その夫となり、彼女を妻とすることができる。
21:13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in yours house, and mourn for her father and her mother a full month: and after that you shall go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.
21:14 その後あなたがもし彼女を好まなくなったならば、彼女を自由に去らせなければならない。決して金で売ってはならない。あなたはすでに彼女をはずかしめたのだから、彼女を奴隷のようにあしらってはならない。
21:14 And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she will; but you shall not sell her at all for money, you shall not make merchandise of her, because you have humbled her.
21:15 人がふたりの妻をもち、そのひとりは愛する者、ひとりは気にいらない者であって、その愛する者と気にいらない者のふたりが、ともに男の子を産み、もしその長子が、気にいらない女の産んだ者である時は、
21:15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
21:16 その子たちに自分の財産を継がせる時、気にいらない女の産んだ長子をさしおいて、愛する女の産んだ子を長子とすることはできない。
21:16 Then it shall be, when he makes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
21:17 必ずその気にいらない者の産んだ子が長子であることを認め、自分の財産を分ける時には、これに二倍の分け前を与えなければならない。これは自分の力の初めであって、長子の特権を持っているからである。
21:17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he has: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
21:18 もし、わがままで、手に負えない子があって、父の言葉にも、母の言葉にも従わず、父母がこれを懲らしてもきかない時は、
21:18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
21:19 その父母はこれを捕えて、その町の門に行き、町の長老たちの前に出し、
21:19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
21:20 町の長老たちに言わなければならない、『わたしたちのこの子はわがままで、手に負えません。わたしたちの言葉に従わず、身持ちが悪く、大酒飲みです』。
21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
21:21 そのとき、町の人は皆、彼を石で撃ち殺し、あなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。そうすれば、イスラエルは皆聞いて恐れるであろう。
21:21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shall you put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
21:22 もし人が死にあたる罪を犯して殺され、あなたがそれを木の上にかける時は、
21:22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and you hang him on a tree:
21:23 翌朝までその死体を木の上に留めておいてはならない。必ずそれをその日のうちに埋めなければならない。木にかけられた者は神にのろわれた者だからである。あなたの神、主が嗣業として賜わる地を汚してはならない。
21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall in any way bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that your land be not defiled, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.
22:1 あなたの兄弟の牛、または羊の迷っているのを見て、それを見捨てておいてはならない。必ずそれを兄弟のところへ連れて帰らなければならない。
22:1 You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from them: you shall in any case bring them again unto your brother.
22:2 もしその兄弟が近くの者でなく、知らない人であるならば、それを自分の家にひいてきて、あなたのところにおき、その兄弟が尋ねてきた時に、それを彼に返さなければならない。
22:2 And if your brother be not nigh unto you, or if you know him not, then you shall bring it unto yours own house, and it shall be with you until your brother seek after it, and you shall restore it to him again.
22:3 あなたの兄弟のろばの場合も、そうしなければならない。着物の場合も、そうしなければならない。またすべてあなたの兄弟の失った物を見つけた場合も、そうしなければならない。それを見捨てておくことはできない。
22:3 In like manner shall you do with his ass; and so shall you do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of your brother's, which he has lost, and you have found, shall you do likewise: you may not hide yourself.
22:4 あなたの兄弟のろばまたは牛が道に倒れているのを見て、見捨てておいてはならない。必ずそれを助け起さなければならない。
22:4 You shall not see your brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely help him to lift them up again.
22:5 女は男の着物を着てはならない。また男は女の着物を着てはならない。あなたの神、主はそのような事をする者を忌みきらわれるからである。
22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD your God.
22:6 もしあなたが道で、木の上、または地面に鳥の巣のあるのを見つけ、その中に雛または卵があって、母鳥がその雛または卵を抱いているならば、母鳥を雛と一緒に取ってはならない。
22:6 If a bird's nest chance to be before you in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, you shall not take the dam with the young:
22:7 必ず母鳥を去らせ、ただ雛だけを取らなければならない。そうすればあなたはさいわいを得、長く生きながらえることができるであろう。
22:7 But you shall in any way let the dam go, and take the young to you; that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.
22:8 新しい家を建てる時は、屋根に欄干を設けなければならない。それは人が屋根から落ちて、血のとがをあなたの家に帰することのないようにするためである。
22:8 When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you bring not blood upon yours house, if any man fall from thence.
22:9 ぶどう畑に二種の種を混ぜてまいてはならない。そうすればあなたがまいた種から産する物も、ぶどう畑から出る物も、みな忌むべき物となるであろう。
22:9 You shall not sow your vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of your seed which you have sown, and the fruit of your vineyard, be defiled.
22:10 牛と、ろばとを組み合わせて耕してはならない。
22:10 You shall not plow with an ox and an ass together.
22:11 羊毛と亜麻糸を混ぜて織った着物を着てはならない。
22:11 You shall not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together.
22:12 身にまとう上着の四すみに、ふさをつけなければならない。
22:12 You shall make you fringes upon the four quarters of your vesture, wherewith you cover yourself.
22:13 もし人が妻をめとり、妻のところにはいって後、その女をきらい、
22:13 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
22:14 『わたしはこの女をめとって近づいた時、彼女に処女の証拠を見なかった』と言って虚偽の非難をもって、その女に悪名を負わせるならば、
22:14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
22:15 その女の父と母は、彼女の処女の証拠を取って、門におる町の長老たちに差し出し、
22:15 Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
22:16 そして彼女の父は長老たちに言わなければならない。『わたしはこの人に娘を与えて妻にさせましたが、この人は娘をきらい、
22:16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hates her;
22:17 虚偽の非難をもって、「わたしはあなたの娘に処女の証拠を見なかった」と言います。しかし、これがわたしの娘の処女の証拠です』と言って、その父母はかの布を町の長老たちの前にひろげなければならない。
22:17 And, lo, he has given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not your daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
22:18 その時、町の長老たちは、その人を捕えて撃ち懲らし、
22:18 And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
22:19 また銀百シケルの罰金を課し、それを女の父に与えなければならない。彼はイスラエルの処女に悪名を負わせたからである。彼はその女を妻とし、一生その女を出すことはできない。
22:19 And they shall fine him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he has brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
22:20 しかし、この非難が真実であって、その女に処女の証拠が見られない時は、
22:20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
22:21 その女を父の家の入口にひき出し、町の人々は彼女を石で撃ち殺さなければならない。彼女は父の家で、みだらな事をおこない、イスラエルのうちに愚かな事をしたからである。あなたはこうしてあなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
22:21 Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she has wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shall you put evil away from among you.
22:22 もし夫のある女と寝ている男を見つけたならば、その女と寝た男およびその女を一緒に殺し、こうしてイスラエルのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
22:22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shall you put away evil from Israel.
22:23 もし処女である女が、人と婚約した後、他の男が町の内でその女に会い、これを犯したならば、
22:23 If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
22:24 あなたがたはそのふたりを町の門にひき出して、石で撃ち殺さなければならない。これはその女が町の内におりながら叫ばなかったからであり、またその男は隣人の妻をはずかしめたからである。あなたはこうしてあなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
22:24 Then all of you shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and all of you shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbour's wife: so you shall put away evil from among you.
22:25 しかし、男が、人と婚約した女に野で会い、その女を捕えてこれを犯したならば、その男だけを殺さなければならない。
22:25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die.
22:26 その女には何もしてはならない。女には死にあたる罪がない。人がその隣人に立ちむかって、それを殺したと同じ事件だからである。
22:26 But unto the damsel you shall do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man rises against his neighbour, and slays him, even so is this matter:
22:27 これは男が野で女に会ったので、人と婚約したその女が叫んだけれども、救う者がなかったのである。
22:27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
22:28 まだ人と婚約しない処女である女に、男が会い、これを捕えて犯し、ふたりが見つけられたならば、
22:28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
22:29 女を犯した男は女の父に銀五十シケルを与えて、女を自分の妻としなければならない。彼はその女をはずかしめたゆえに、一生その女を出すことはできない。
22:29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he has humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
22:30 だれも父の妻をめとってはならない。父の妻と寝てはならない。
22:30 A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.
