15:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
15:2 「人の子よ、ぶどうの木、森の木のうちにあるぶどうの枝は、ほかの木になんのまさる所があるか。
15:2 Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
15:3 その木は何かを造るために用いられるか。また人はこれを用いて、器物を掛ける木釘を造るだろうか。
15:3 Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
15:4 見よ、これは火に投げ入れられて燃える。火がその両端を焼いたとき、またその中ほどがこげたとき、それはなんの役に立つだろうか。
15:4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
15:5 見よ、これは完全な時でも、なんの用をもなさない。まして火がこれを焼き、これをこがした時には、なんの役に立つだろうか。
15:5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned?
15:6 それゆえ主なる神はこう言われる、わたしが森の木の中のぶどうの木を、火に投げ入れて焼くように、エルサレムの住民をそのようにする。
15:6 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15:7 And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and all of you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.

15:8 And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, says the Lord GOD.

16:1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

16:2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,

16:3 And say, Thus says the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Your birth and your nativity is of the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite, and your mother an Hittite.

16:4 And as for your nativity, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, neither were you washed in water to clean you; you were not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

16:5 None eye pitied you, to do any of these unto you, to have compassion upon you; but you were cast out in the open field, to the loathing of your person, in the day that you were born.
16:6 わたしはあなたのかたわらを通り、あなたが血の中にころがりまわっているのを見た時、わたしは血の中にいるあなたに言った、『生きよ、
16:6 And when I passed by you, and saw you polluted in yours own blood, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live; yea, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live.

16:8 Now when I passed by you, and looked upon you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yea, I swore unto you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord GOD, and you became mine.
16:9 そこでわたしは水であなたを洗い、あなたの血を洗い落して油を塗り、
16:9 Then washed I you with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.

16:10 I clothed you also with broidered work, and shod you with badgers' skin, and I girded you about with fine linen, and I covered you with silk.

16:11 I decked you also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon your hands, and a chain on your neck.

16:13 Thus were you decked with gold and silver; and your raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; you did eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and you were exceeding beautiful, and you did prosper into a kingdom.

16:14 And your renown went forth among the heathen for your beauty: for it was perfect through my loveliness, which I had put upon you, says the Lord GOD.

16:15 But you did trust in yours own beauty, and played the harlot because of your renown, and poured out your fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.

16:16 And of your garments you did take, and decked your high places with divers colours, and played the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.

16:17 You have also taken your fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made to yourself images of men, and did commit whoredom with them,

16:18 And took your broidered garments, and covered them: and you have set mine oil and mine incense before them.

16:19 My food also which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed you, you have even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, says the Lord GOD.

16:21 That you have slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?

16:23 And it came to pass after all your wickedness, (woe, woe unto you! says the LORD GOD;)

16:27 Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished yours ordinary food, and delivered you unto the will of them that hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of your lewd way.

16:28 You have played the whore also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yea, you have played the harlot with them, and yet could not be satisfied.

16:29 You have moreover multiplied your fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet you were not satisfied therewith.

16:30 How weak is yours heart, says the LORD GOD, seeing you do all these things, the work of an domineering whorish woman;

16:34 And the contrary is in you from other women in your whoredoms, whereas none follows you to commit whoredoms: and in that you give a reward, and no reward is given unto you, therefore you are contrary.
16:35 それで遊女よ、主の言葉を聞け。
16:35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:

16:36 Thus says the Lord GOD; Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness discovered through your whoredoms with your lovers, and with all the idols of your abominations, and by the blood of your children, which you did give unto them;
16:37 見よ、わたしはあなたと遊んだあなたのすべての恋人、およびすべてあなたが恋した者と、すべてあなたが憎んだ者とを集め、四方から彼らをあなたの所に集めて、あなたの裸を彼らにあらわす。彼らはあなたの裸を、ことごとく見る。
16:37 Behold, therefore I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all them that you have loved, with all them that you have hated; I will even gather them round about against you, and will discover your nakedness unto them, that they may see all your nakedness.
16:38 わたしは姦淫を行った女と、血を流した女がさばかれるように、あなたをさばき、憤りと、ねたみの血とを、あなたに注ぐ。
16:38 And I will judge you, as women that violate marriage bond and shed blood are judged; and I will give you blood in fury and jealousy.

16:39 And I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down yours eminent place, and shall break down your high places: they shall strip you also of your clothes, and shall take your fair jewels, and leave you naked and bare.

16:40 They shall also bring up a company against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords.

16:42 So will I make my fury toward you to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.

16:43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense your way upon yours head, says the Lord GOD: and you shall not commit this lewdness above all yours abominations.
16:44 見よ、すべてことわざを用いる者は、あなたについて、『この母にしてこの娘あり』という、ことわざを用いる。
16:44 Behold, every one that uses proverbs shall use this proverb against you, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
16:45 あなたは、その夫と子どもとを捨てたあなたの母の娘、またその夫と子どもとを捨てた姉妹を持っている。あなたの母はヘテびと、あなたの父はアモリびと、
16:45 You are your mother's daughter, that detests her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, which loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

16:50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

16:52 You also, which have judged your sisters, bear yours own shame for your sins that you have committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than you: yea, be you confounded also, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.

16:53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of your captives in the midst of them:

16:54 That you may bear yours own shame, and may be confounded in all that you have done, in that you are a comfort unto them.

16:58 You have borne your lewdness and yours abominations, says the LORD.

16:59 For thus says the Lord GOD; I will even deal with you as you have done, which have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

16:60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish unto you an everlasting covenant.

16:61 Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, yours elder and your younger: and I will give them unto you for daughters, but not by your covenant.

16:62 And I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall know that I am the LORD:

16:63 That you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more because of your shame, when I am pacified toward you for all that you have done, says the Lord GOD.
17:1 時に主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
17:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
17:2 「人の子よ、イスラエルの家になぞをかけ、たとえを語って、
17:2 Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
17:3 言え。主なる神がこう言われる、さまざまの色の羽毛を多く持ち、大きな翼と、長い羽根とを持つ大わしがレバノンに来て、香柏のこずえにとまり、
17:3 And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, long pinions, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
17:4 その若枝の頂を摘み切り、これを商業の地に運び、商人の町に置いた。
17:4 He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of trade; he set it in a city of merchants.
17:5 またその地の種をとって、これを肥えた土に植えた。すなわち水の多い所にもって行って、柳を植えるようにこれを植えた。
17:5 He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.

17:6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

17:7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

17:8 It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

17:9 Say you, Thus says the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
17:10 見よ、それが移し植えられたら、また栄えるであろうか。東風がこれを打つ時、それは枯れてしまわないであろうか。その育った苗床で枯れないであろうか」。
17:10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
17:11 主の言葉がまたわたしに臨んだ、
17:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

17:12 Say now to the rebellious house, Know all of you not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon has come to Jerusalem, and has taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
17:13 また王の子孫のひとりを捕えて、これと契約を結び、誓いを立てさせ、また国のおもだった人々を捕えて行った。
17:13 And has taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and has taken an oath of him: he has also taken the mighty of the land:
17:14 これはこの国を卑しくして、みずから立つことができないようにし、その契約を守ることによって立たせるためである。
17:14 That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.

17:15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that does such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
17:16 契約を破ってなおのがれることができようか。主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、必ず彼は自分を王となした王の住む所、彼が立てた誓いを軽んじ、その契約を破った相手の王のいるバビロンで彼は死ぬ。
17:16 As I live, says the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwells that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
17:17 多くの命を断つために塁を築き、雲梯を建てるとき、パロは決して大いなる軍勢と、多くの人とをもって、彼を助けて戦いをしない。
17:17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
17:18 彼は誓いを軽んじ、契約を破り、その手を与えて誓いながら、なおこれらの事をしたゆえ、のがれることはできない。
17:18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and has done all these things, he shall not escape.
17:19 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、わたしは生きている、彼がわたしの誓いを軽んじ、わたしの契約を破ったことを、必ず彼のこうべに報いる。
17:19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he has despised, and my covenant that he has broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
17:20 わたしはわが網を彼の上に打ちかけ、彼をわがわなに捕えて、バビロンに引いて行き、彼がわたしにむかって犯した反逆のために、その所で彼をさばく。
17:20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
17:21 彼のすべての軍隊のえり抜きの兵士は皆つるぎに倒れ、生き残った者は八方に散らされる。そしてあなたがたは主なるわたしが、これを語ったことを知るようになる」。
17:21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and all of you shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
17:22 主なる神はこう言われる、「わたしはまた香柏の高いこずえから小枝をとって、これを植え、その若芽の頂から柔らかい芽を摘みとり、これを高いすぐれた山に植える。
17:22 Thus says the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
17:23 わたしはイスラエルの高い山にこれを植える。これは枝を出し、実を結び、みごとな香柏となり、その下にもろもろの種類の獣が住み、その枝の陰に各種の鳥が巣をつくる。
17:23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
17:24 そして野のすべての木は、主なるわたしが高い木を低くし、低い木を高くし、緑の木を枯らし、枯れ木を緑にすることを知るようになる。主であるわたしはこれを語り、これをするのである」。
17:24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
18:1 主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
18:1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
18:2 「あなたがたがイスラエルの地について、このことわざを用い、『父たちが、酢いぶどうを食べたので子供たちの歯がうく』というのはどんなわけか。
18:2 What mean all of you, that all of you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
18:3 主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、あなたがたは再びイスラエルでこのことわざを用いることはない。
18:3 As I live, says the Lord GOD, all of you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
18:4 見よ、すべての魂はわたしのものである。父の魂も子の魂もわたしのものである。罪を犯した魂は必ず死ぬ。
18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die.
18:5 人がもし正しくあって、公道と正義とを行い、
18:5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
18:6 山の上で食事をせず、また目をあげてイスラエルの家の偶像を仰がず、隣り人の妻を犯さず、汚れの時にある女に近づかず、
18:6 And has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither has defiled his neighbour's wife, neither has come near to a menstruous woman,
18:7 だれをもしえたげず、質物を返し、決して奪わず、食物を飢えた者に与え、裸の者に衣服を着せ、
18:7 And has not oppressed any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has spoiled none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
18:8 利息や高利をとって貸さず、手をひいて悪を行わず、人と人との間に真実のさばきを行い、
18:8 He that has not given forth upon interest, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true judgment between man and man,
18:9 わたしの定めに歩み、わたしのおきてを忠実に守るならば、彼は正しい人である。彼は必ず生きることができると、主なる神は言われる。
18:9 Has walked in my statutes, and has kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, says the Lord GOD.
18:10 しかし彼が子を生み、その子が荒い者で、人の血を流し、これらの義務の一つをも行わず、
18:10 If he brought forth a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that does the like to any one of these things,
18:11 かえって山の上で食事をし、隣り人の妻を犯し、
18:11 And that does not any of those duties, but even has eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
18:12 乏しい者や貧しい者をしえたげ、物を奪い、質物を返さず、目をあげて偶像を仰ぎ、憎むべき事をおこない、
18:12 Has oppressed the poor and needy, has spoiled by violence, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,
18:13 利息や高利をとって貸すならば、その子は生きるであろうか。彼は生きることはできない。彼はこれらの憎むべき事をしたので、必ず死に、その血は彼自身に帰する。
18:13 Has given forth upon interest, and has taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
18:14 しかし彼が子を生み、その子が父の行ったすべての罪を見て、恐れ、そのようなことを行わず、
18:14 Now, lo, if he brought forth a son, that sees all his father's sins which he has done, and considers, and does not such like,
18:15 山の上で食事せず、目をあげてイスラエルの家の偶像を仰がず、隣り人の妻を犯さず、
18:15 That has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbour's wife,
18:16 だれをもしえたげず、質物をひき留めず、物を奪わず、かえって自分の食物を飢えた者に与え、裸の者に衣服を着せ、
18:16 Neither has oppressed any, has not withheld the pledge, neither has spoiled by violence, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment,
18:17 その手をひいて悪を行わず、利息や高利をとらず、わたしのおきてを行い、わたしの定めに歩むならば、彼はその父の悪のために死なず、必ず生きる。
18:17 That has taken off his hand from the poor, that has not received interest nor increase, has executed my judgments, has walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18:18 しかしその父は人をかすめ、その兄弟の物を奪い、その民の中で良くない事を行ったゆえ、見よ、彼はその悪のために死ぬ。
18:18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
18:19 しかしあなたがたは、『なぜ、子は父の悪を負わないのか』と言う。子は公道と正義とを行い、わたしのすべての定めを守っておこなったので、必ず生きるのである。
18:19 Yet say all of you, Why? does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live.
18:20 罪を犯す魂は死ぬ。子は父の悪を負わない。父は子の悪を負わない。義人の義はその人に帰し、悪人の悪はその人に帰する。
18:20 The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
18:21 しかし、悪人がもしその行ったもろもろの罪を離れ、わたしのすべての定めを守り、公道と正義とを行うならば、彼は必ず生きる。死ぬことはない。
18:21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
18:22 その犯したもろもろのとがは、彼に対して覚えられない。彼はそのなした正しい事のために生きる。
18:22 All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live.
18:23 主なる神は言われる、わたしは悪人の死を好むであろうか。むしろ彼がそのおこないを離れて生きることを好んでいるではないか。
18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
18:24 しかし義人がもしその義を離れて悪を行い、悪人のなすもろもろの憎むべき事を行うならば、生きるであろうか。彼が行ったもろもろの正しい事は覚えられない。彼はその犯したとがと、その犯した罪とのために死ぬ。
18:24 But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.
18:25 しかしあなたがたは、『主のおこないは正しくない』と言う。イスラエルの家よ、聞け。わたしのおこないは正しくないのか。正しくないのは、あなたがたのおこないではないか。
18:25 Yet all of you say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
18:26 義人がその義を離れて悪を行い、そのために死ぬならば、彼は自分の行った悪のために死ぬのである。
18:26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done shall he die.
18:27 しかし悪人がその行った悪を離れて、公道と正義とを行うならば、彼は自分の命を救うことができる。
18:27 Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
18:28 彼は省みて、その犯したすべてのとがを離れたのだから必ず生きる。死ぬことはない。
18:28 Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
18:29 しかしイスラエルの家は『主のおこないは正しくない』と言う。イスラエルの家よ、わたしのおこないは、はたして正しくないのか。正しくないのは、あなたがたのおこないではないか。
18:29 Yet says the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
18:30 それゆえ、イスラエルの家よ、わたしはあなたがたを、おのおのそのおこないに従ってさばくと、主なる神は言われる。悔い改めて、あなたがたのすべてのとがを離れよ。さもないと悪はあなたがたを滅ぼす。
18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
18:31 あなたがたがわたしに対しておこなったすべてのとがを捨て去り、新しい心と、新しい霊とを得よ。イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたはどうして死んでよかろうか。
18:31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby all of you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will all of you die, O house of Israel?
18:32 わたしは何人の死をも喜ばないのであると、主なる神は言われる。それゆえ、あなたがたは翻って生きよ」。
18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live all of you.
19:1 あなたはイスラエルの君たちのために悲しみの歌をのべて
19:1 Moreover take you up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
19:2 言え、あなたの母はししのうちにあって、どんな雌じしであったろう。彼女は若いししのうちに伏して子じしを養った。
19:2 And say, What is your mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.
19:3 彼女は子じしの一つを育てたが、それは若いししとなって、獲物をとることを学び、人を食べた。
19:3 And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men.
19:4 国々の人は彼に対して叫び声をあげ、落し穴でこれを捕え、かぎでこれをエジプトの地に引いて行った。
19:4 The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt.
19:5 雌じしは自分の思いが破れ、その望みを失ったのを見たので、ほかの子じしをとって、これを若い子じしとした。
19:5 Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.
19:6 彼はししのうちに行き来し、若いししとなって、獲物をとることを学び、人を食べた。
19:6 And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and devoured men.
19:7 彼はその要害を荒し、その町々を滅ぼした。そのほえる声によって、その地とその中に満ちるものとは皆恐れた。
19:7 And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fullness thereof, by the noise of his roaring.
19:8 そこで国々の人は彼に対して四方にわなを設け、彼に網を打ちかけ、落し穴で彼を捕えた。
19:8 Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
19:9 彼らはかぎをもって、これをかごに入れ、これをバビロンの王のもとに連れて行き、これをおりの中に入れて、再びその声をイスラエルの山々に／聞えさせないようにした。
19:9 And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
19:10 あなたの母は水のほとりに移し植えられた／ぶどう畑のぶどうの木のようで、水が多いために実りがよく、枝がはびこった。
19:10 Your mother is like a vine in your blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.
19:11 その強い幹は君たる者のつえとなった。それは茂みの中に高くそびえ、多くの枝をつけて高く見えた。
19:11 And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
19:12 しかしこのぶどうの木は憤りによって抜かれ、地に投げうたれ、東風がそれを枯らし、その実はもぎ取られ、その強い幹は枯れて、火に焼き滅ぼされた。
19:12 But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.
19:13 今これは荒野に、かわいた、水のない地に移し植えられ、
19:13 And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.
19:14 火がその幹から出て、その枝と実とを滅ぼしたので、強い幹で、君たる者のつえと／なるべきものはそこにない。これが悲しみの言葉、また悲しみの歌となった。
19:14 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which has devoured her fruit, so that she has no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
20:1 第七年の五月十日に、イスラエルの長老たちのある人々が、主に尋ねるためにきて、わたしの前に座した。
20:1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.
20:2 時に主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
20:2 Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
20:3 「人の子よ、イスラエルの長老たちに告げて言え。主なる神はこう言われる、あなたがたがわたしのもとに来たのは、わたしに何か尋ねるためであるか。主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、わたしはあなたがたの尋ねに答えない。
20:3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Are all of you come to enquire of me? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
20:4 あなたは彼らをさばこうとするのか。人の子よ、あなたは彼らをさばこうとするのか。それなら彼らの先祖たちのした憎むべき事を彼らに知らせ、
20:4 Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:
20:5 かつ彼らに言え。主なる神はこう言われる、わたしがイスラエルを選び、ヤコブの家の子孫に誓い、エジプトの地でわたし自身を彼らに知らせ彼らに誓って、わたしはあなたがたの神、主であると言った日、
20:5 And say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
20:6 その日にわたしは彼らに誓って、エジプトの地から彼らを導き出し、わたしが彼らのために探り求めた乳と蜜との流れる地、全地の中で最もすばらしい所へ行かせると言った。
20:6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
20:7 わたしは彼らに言った、あなたがたは、おのおのその目を楽しませる憎むべきものを捨てよ。エジプトの偶像をもって、その身を汚すな。わたしはあなたがたの神、主であると。
20:7 Then said I unto them, Cast all of you away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
20:8 ところが彼らはわたしにそむき、わたしの言うことを聞こうともしなかった。彼らは、おのおのその目を楽しませた憎むべきものを捨てず、またエジプトの偶像を捨てなかった。それで、わたしはエジプトの地のうちで、わたしの憤りを彼らに注ぎ、わたしの怒りを彼らに漏らそうと思った。
20:8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
20:9 しかしわたしはわたしの名のために行動した。それはエジプトの地から彼らを導き出して、周囲に住んでいた異邦人たちに、わたしのことを知らせ、わたしの名が彼らの目の前に、はずかしめられないためである。
20:9 But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
20:10 すなわち、わたしはエジプトの地から彼らを導き出して、荒野に連れて行き、
20:10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
20:11 わたしの定めを彼らに授け、わたしのおきてを彼らに示した。これは人がこれを行うことによって生きるものである。
20:11 And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.
20:12 わたしはまた彼らに安息日を与えて、わたしと彼らとの間のしるしとした。これは主なるわたしが彼らを聖別したことを、彼らに知らせるためである。
20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
20:13 しかしイスラエルの家は荒野でわたしにそむき、わたしの定めに歩まず、人がそれを行うことによって、生きることのできるわたしのおきてを捨て、大いにわたしの安息日を汚した。そこでわたしは荒野で、わたしの憤りを彼らの上に注ぎ、これを滅ぼそうと思ったが、
20:13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.
20:14 わたしはわたしの名のために行動した。それはわたしが彼らを導き出して見せた異邦人の前に、わたしの名が汚されないためである。
20:14 But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
20:15 ただし、わたしは荒野で彼らに誓い、わたしが彼らに与えた乳と蜜との流れる地、全地の最もすばらしい地に、彼らを導かないと言った。
20:15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;
20:16 これは彼らがその心に偶像を慕って、わがおきてを捨て、わが定めに歩まず、わが安息日を汚したからである。
20:16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
20:17 けれどもわたしは彼らを惜しみ見て、彼らを滅ぼさず、荒野で彼らを絶やさなかった。
20:17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.
20:18 わたしはまた荒野で彼らの子どもたちに言った、あなたがたの先祖の定めに歩んではならない。そのおきてを守ってはならない。その偶像をもって、あなたがたの身を汚してはならない。
20:18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk all of you not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:
20:19 主なるわたしはあなたがたの神である。わが定めに歩み、わがおきてを守ってこれを行い、
20:19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
20:20 わが安息日を聖別せよ。これはわたしとあなたがたとの間のしるしとなって、主なるわたしがあなたがたの神であることを、あなたがたに知らせるためである。
20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that all of you may know that I am the LORD your God.
20:21 しかしその子どもたちはわたしにそむき、わが定めに歩まず、人がこれを行うことによって、生きることのできるわたしのおきてを守り行わず、わが安息日を汚した。そこでわたしはわが憤りを彼らの上に注ぎ、荒野で彼らに対し、わが怒りを漏らそうと思った。
20:21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
20:22 しかしわたしはわが手を翻して、わが名のために行動した。それはわたしが彼らを導き出して見せた異邦人の前に、わたしの名が汚されないためである。
20:22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
20:23 ただしわたしは荒野で彼らに誓い、わたしは異邦人の間に彼らを散らし、国々の中に彼らをふりまくと言った。
20:23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;
20:24 これは彼らがわがおきてを行わず、わが定めを捨て、わが安息日を汚し、彼らの目にその先祖の偶像を慕ったからである。
20:24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.
20:25 またわたしは彼らに良くない定めと、それによって生きることのできないおきてとを与え、
20:25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;
20:26 そして、彼らのういごに火の中を通らせるその供え物によって、彼らを汚し、彼らを恐れさせた。わたしがこれを行ったのは、わたしが主であることを、彼らに知らせるためである。
20:26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.
20:27 それゆえ人の子よ、イスラエルの家に告げて言え。主なる神はこう言われる、あなたがたの先祖はまた、不信の罪を犯してわたしを汚した。
20:27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.
20:28 わたしが彼らに与えようと誓った地に、彼らを導き入れた時、彼らはすべての高い丘と、すべての茂った木とを見て、その所で犠牲をささげ、忌むべき供え物をささげ、またこうばしいかおりをその所に上らせ、その所に灌祭を注いだ。
20:28 For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.
20:29 （わたしは彼らに言った、あなたがたが通うその高き所はなんであるか。それでその名は今日までバマととなえられている。）
20:29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place unto which all of you go? And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.

20:30 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; Are all of you polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit all of you whoredom after their abominations?

20:31 For when all of you offer your gifts, when all of you make your sons to pass through the fire, all of you pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
20:32 あなたがたの心にあること、すなわち『われわれは異邦人のようになり、国々のもろもろのやからのようになって、木や石を拝もう』との考えは決して成就しない。
20:32 And that which comes into your mind shall not be at all, that all of you say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
20:33 主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、わたしは必ず強い手と伸べた腕と注がれた憤りとをもって、あなたがたを治める。
20:33 As I live, says the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:
20:34 わたしはわが強い手と伸べた腕と注がれた憤りとをもって、あなたがたをもろもろの民の中から導き出し、その散らされた国々から集め、
20:34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein all of you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.
20:35 もろもろの民の荒野に導き入れ、その所で顔と顔とを合わせて、あなたがたをさばく。
20:35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.
20:36 すなわち、エジプトの地の荒野で、あなたがたの先祖をさばいたように、わたしはあなたがたをさばくと、主なる神は言われる。
20:36 Like I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, says the Lord GOD.
20:37 わたしはあなたがたに、むちの下を通らせ、数えてはいらせ、
20:37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
20:38 あなたがたのうちから、従わぬ者と、わたしにそむいた者とを分かち、その寄留した地から、彼らを導き出す。しかし彼らはイスラエルの地に入ることはできない。こうしてあなたがたはわたしが主であることを知るようになる。
20:38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and all of you shall know that I am the LORD.
20:39 それで、イスラエルの家よ、主なる神はこう言われる、あなたがたはわたしに聞かないなら、今も後も、おのおのその偶像に行って仕えるがよい。しかし再び供え物と偶像とをもって、わたしの聖なる名を汚してはならない。
20:39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord GOD; Go all of you, serve all of you every one his idols, and hereafter also, if all of you will not hearken unto me: but pollute all of you my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
20:40 主なる神は言われる、わたしの聖なる山、イスラエルの高い山の上で、イスラエルの全家はその地で、ことごとくわたしに仕える。その所でわたしは喜んで彼らを受けいれ、あなたがたのささげ物と最上の供え物とを、その聖なるささげ物と共に求める。
20:40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, says the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
20:41 わたしがあなたがたをもろもろの民の中から導き出し、かつてあなたがたを散らした国々から集める時、こうばしいかおりとして、あなたがたを喜んで受けいれる。そしてわたしは異邦人の前で、あなたがたの中に、わたしの聖なることをあらわす。
20:41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein all of you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
20:42 こうしてわたしがあなたがたを、イスラエルの地、すなわちあなたがたの先祖たちに与えると誓った地に、はいらせる時、あなたがたはわたしが主であることを知るようになる。
20:42 And all of you shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.
20:43 またその所であなたがたは、その身を汚したあなたがたのおこないと、すべてのわざとを思い出し、みずから行ったすべての悪事のために、自分を忌みきらうようになる。
20:43 And there shall all of you remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein all of you have been defiled; and all of you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that all of you have committed.
20:44 イスラエルの家よ、わたしがあなたがたの悪しきおこないによらず、またその腐れたわざによらず、わたしの名のために、あなたがたを扱う時、あなたがたはわたしが主であることを知るのであると、主なる神は言われる」。
20:44 And all of you shall know that I am the LORD when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O all of you house of Israel, says the Lord GOD.
20:45 主の言葉がまたわたしに臨んだ、
20:45 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
20:46 「人の子よ、顔を南に向け、南に向かって語り、ネゲブの森の地に対して預言せよ。
20:46 Son of man, set your face toward the south, and drop your word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;
20:47 すなわちネゲブの森に言え、主の言葉を聞け、主なる神はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたのうちに火を燃やす。その火はあなたのうちのすべての青木と、すべての枯れ木を焼き滅ぼし、その燃える炎は消されることがなく、南から北まで、すべての地のおもては、これがために焼ける。
20:47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
20:48 すべて肉なる者は、主なるわたしがこれを焼いたことを見る。その火は消されない」。
20:48 And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

20:49 Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Does he not speak parables?

21:2 Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and drop your word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,
21:3 イスラエルの地に言え。主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたを攻め、わたしのつるぎをさやから抜き、あなたのうちから、正しい者も悪しき者をも断ってしまう。
21:3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus says the LORD; Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.
21:4 わたしがあなたのうちから、正しい者も悪しき者をも断つゆえに、わたしのつるぎはさやから抜け出て、南から北までのすべての肉なる者を攻める。
21:4 Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
21:5 すべて肉なる者は、主なるわたしが、そのつるぎをさやから抜き放ったことを知る。このつるぎは再びさやに納められない。
21:5 That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more.
21:6 それゆえ、人の子よ、嘆け、心砕けるまでに嘆き、彼らの目の前でいたく嘆け。
21:6 Sigh therefore, you son of man, with the breaking of your loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.

21:7 And it shall be, when they say unto you, Wherefore sigh you? that you shall answer, For the tidings; because it comes: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and shall be brought to pass, says the Lord GOD.
21:8 主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
21:8 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
21:9 「人の子よ、預言して言え、主はこう言われる、つるぎがある、とぎ、かつ、みがいたつるぎがある。
21:9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:
21:10 殺すためにといであり、いなずまのようにきらめくためにみがいてある。わたしたちは喜ぶことができるか。わが子よ、あなたはつえと、すべて木で作ったものとを軽んじた。
21:10 It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make delight? it despises the rod of my son, as every tree.
21:11 このつるぎは手にとるために、とがれ、殺す者の手に渡すために、とがれみがかれるのである。
21:11 And he has given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.
21:12 人の子よ、叫び嘆け、このことはわが民に臨み、イスラエルのすべての君たちに臨むからである。彼らはわが民と共につるぎにわたされる。それゆえ、あなたのももを打て。
21:12 Cry and wail, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: strike therefore upon your thigh.
21:13 これはためしにすることではない。もしあなたが、つえをあざけったら、どういうことになろうか」と主なる神は言われる。
21:13 Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, says the Lord GOD.
21:14 「それゆえ、人の子よ、あなたは預言し、手を打ちならせ。つるぎを二度も三度も臨ませよ。これは人を殺すつるぎ、大いに殺すつるぎであって、彼らを囲むものである。
21:14 You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike yours hands together. and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which enters into their privy chambers.

21:15 I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.

21:16 Go you one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the left, anywhere your face is set.

21:17 I will also strike mine hands together, and I will cause my fury to rest: I the LORD have said it.

21:18 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
21:19 「人の子よ、バビロンの王のつるぎが来るために、二つの道を備えよ。この二つの道は一つの国から出ている。あなたは道しるべを作り、これを町に向かう道のはじめに置け。
21:19 Also, you son of man, appoint you two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both two shall come forth out of one land: and choose you a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.
21:20 あなたはまたアンモンの人々のラバと、ユダと、堅固な城の町エルサレムとにつるぎの来る道を設けよ。
21:20 Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced.
21:21 バビロンの王は道の分れ目、二つの道のはじめに立って占いをし、矢をふり、テラピムに問い、肝を見る。
21:21 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.

21:22 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.

21:23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

21:25 And you, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come, when iniquity shall have an end,

21:26 Thus says the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and bring low him that is high.

21:28 And you, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say you, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:

21:29 While they see vanity unto you, while they divine a lie unto you, to bring you upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day has come, when their iniquity shall have an end.

21:30 Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land of your nativity.

21:31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon you, I will blow against you in the fire of my wrath, and deliver you into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.
21:32 あなたは火のための、たきぎとなり、あなたの血は国の中に流され、覚えられることはない、主なるわたしが言う」。
21:32 You shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.

22:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
22:2 「人の子よ、あなたはさばくのか。血を流すこの町をさばくのか。それならこの町にそのもろもろの憎むべき事を示して、
22:2 Now, you son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? yea, you shall show her all her abominations.
22:3 言え。主なる神はこう言われる、自分のうちに血を流して、その刑罰の時をまねき、偶像を造ってその身を汚す町よ、
22:3 Then say you, Thus says the Lord GOD, The city sheds blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and makes idols against herself to defile herself.

22:4 You are become guilty in your blood that you have shed; and have defiled yourself in yours idols which you have made; and you have caused your days to draw near, and are come even unto your years: therefore have I made you a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.
22:5 あなたに近い者も、遠い者も、汚れと、混乱に満ちているあなたをあざける。
22:5 Those that be near, and those that be far from you, shall mock you, which are ill repute and much vexed.

22:6 Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in you to their power to shed blood.

22:7 In you have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of you have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in you have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

22:8 You have despised mine holy things, and have profaned my sabbaths.

22:9 In you are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in you they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of you they commit lewdness.

22:10 In you have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in you have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.

22:11 And one has committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another has lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in you has humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

22:12 In you have they taken gifts to shed blood; you have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbours by extortion, and have forgotten me, says the Lord GOD.

22:13 Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in the midst of you.

22:14 Can yours heart endure, or can yours hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

22:15 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and disperse you in the countries, and will consume your filthiness out of you.

22:16 And you shall take yours inheritance in yourself in the sight of the heathen, and you shall know that I am the LORD.

22:17 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

22:18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.

22:19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because all of you are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

22:20 As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.
22:21 すなわち、わたしはあなたがたを集め、わたしの怒りの火を、あなたがたに吹きかける。あなたがたはその中で溶ける。
22:21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and all of you shall be melted in the midst thereof.
22:22 銀が炉の中で溶けるように、あなたがたもその中で溶ける。そしてあなたがたは主なるわたしが、あなたがたの上に、わたしの怒りを注いだことを知るようになる」。
22:22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall all of you be melted in the midst thereof; and all of you shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

22:23 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
22:24 「人の子よ、これに言え、あなたは怒りの日に清められず、また雨の降らない地である。
22:24 Son of man, say unto her, You are the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
22:25 その中の君たちは、獲物を裂くほえるししのような者で、彼らは人々を滅ぼし、宝と尊い物とを取り、そのうちに、やもめの数をふやす。
22:25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they showed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

22:27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

22:28 And her prophets have daubed them with plaster, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus says the Lord GOD, when the LORD has not spoken.

22:29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
22:31 それゆえ、わたしはわが怒りを彼らの上に注ぎ、わが憤りの火をもって彼らを滅ぼし、彼らのおこないを、そのこうべに報いたと、主なる神は言われる」。
22:31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, says the Lord GOD.

23:1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

23:2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

23:3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.
23:4 彼らの名は姉はアホラ、妹はアホリバである。彼らはわたしのものとなって、むすこ娘たちを産んだ。その本名はアホラはサマリヤ、アホリバはエルサレムである。
23:4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.
23:5 アホラはわたしのものである間に淫行をなし、その恋人なるアッスリヤびとにこがれた。
23:5 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,
23:6 すなわち紫の衣をきた軍人、長官、司令官、すべて好ましい若者、馬に乗る者たちである。
23:6 Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.
23:7 彼女は彼らに淫行を供えた。彼らはすべてアッスリヤのえり抜きの人々である。彼女はまた、そのこがれたすべての者のもろもろの偶像をもって、おのれを汚した。
23:7 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

23:8 Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.

23:9 Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

23:10 These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.

23:11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.

23:12 She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

23:13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way,

23:14 And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion,

23:15 Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity:

23:16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

23:17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them.

23:18 So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like my mind was alienated from her sister.

23:19 Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

23:20 For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

23:21 Thus you called to remembrance the lewdness of your youth, in bruising your teats by the Egyptians for the breast of your youth.
23:22 それゆえ、アホリバよ、主なる神はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは、あなたの心がすでに離れたあなたの恋人らを起して、あなたを攻めさせ、彼らに四方から来てあなたを攻めさせる。
23:22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your mind is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side;

23:23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.

23:24 And they shall come against you with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against you buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments.

23:25 And I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: they shall take away your nose and yours ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire.

23:26 They shall also strip you out of your clothes, and take away your fair jewels.

23:27 Thus will I make your lewdness to cease from you, and your whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that you shall not lift up yours eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.
23:28 主なる神はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたの憎む者の手、あなたの心の離れた者の手にあなたを渡す。
23:28 For thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your mind is alienated:
23:29 彼らは憎しみをもってあなたを扱い、あなたの所得をことごとく取り去り、あなたを赤はだかにし、あなたの淫行の裸を現す。あなたの淫乱と淫行とのゆえに、
23:29 And they shall deal with you hatefully, and shall take away all your labour, and shall leave you naked and bare: and the nakedness of your whoredoms shall be discovered, both your lewdness and your whoredoms.
23:30 すなわち、あなたが異邦人を慕って姦淫を行い、彼らの偶像をもって身を汚したゆえに、これらのことがあなたに臨むのだ。
23:30 I will do these things unto you, because you have gone a whoring after the heathen, and because you are polluted with their idols.
23:31 あなたはその姉の道を歩んだので、わたしも彼女の杯をあなたにわたす。
23:31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into yours hand.
23:32 主なる神はこう言われる、あなたは姉の深い、大きな杯を飲み、笑い物となり、あざけりとなる、この杯にはそれらが多くこもっている。
23:32 Thus says the Lord GOD; You shall drink of your sister's cup deep and large: you shall be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it contains much.
23:33 あなたは酔いと憂いとに満たされる。驚きと滅びの杯、これがあなたの姉サマリヤの杯である。
23:33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria.
23:34 あなたはこれを飲みこれをかたむけ、あなたの髪の毛をひきむしり、あなたの乳ぶさをかきさく。わたしがこれを言うと、主なる神は言われる。
23:34 You shall even drink it and suck it out, and you shall break the earthen ware thereof, and pluck off yours own breasts: for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD.
23:35 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、あなたはわたしを忘れ、わたしをあなたのうしろに捨て去ったゆえ、あなたは自分の淫乱と淫行との罪を負わねばならぬ」。
23:35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore bear you also your lewdness and your whoredoms.
23:36 主はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、あなたはアホラとアホリバをさばくのか。それならば彼らにその憎むべき事を告げよ。
23:36 The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, will you judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;
23:37 彼らは姦淫を行い、血が彼らの手の上にある。彼らはその偶像と姦淫を行い、またわたしに産んだ子らを、食物のために彼らにささげた。
23:37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.
23:38 さらに彼らは、わたしに対してこのようにした。すなわち、彼らは同じ日にわたしの聖所を汚し、わたしの安息日を犯した。
23:38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.
23:39 彼らはその子らを、偶像にささげるためにほふった同じ日に、わたしの聖所にきて、これを汚した。見よ、彼らがわたしの家の中でしたことはこれである。
23:39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.

23:40 And furthermore, that all of you have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom you did wash yourself, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornaments,
23:41 尊い床に座し、食卓をその前に設け、わたしの香と、わたしの油とを、その上に供えた。
23:41 And sat upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon you have set mine incense and mine oil.

23:42 And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
23:43 そこでわたしは言った、彼女と姦淫を行う時、人々は姦淫を犯さないであろうか。
23:43 Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?
23:44 人が遊女の所にはいるように、彼らは彼女の所にはいった。こうして彼らは姦淫を行うために、アホラおよびアホリバの所にはいった。
23:44 Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that plays the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.
23:45 しかし正しい人々は淫婦のさばきと、血を流した女のさばきとをもって、彼らをさばく。それは彼らが淫婦であって、その手に血があるからである」。
23:45 And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
23:46 主なる神はこう言われる、「わたしは軍隊を彼らに向かって攻め上らせ、彼らを恐れと略奪とに渡す。
23:46 For thus says the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.

23:47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
23:48 こうしてわたしはこの地に淫乱を絶やす。すべての女はみずからいましめて、あなたがたがしたような淫乱を行わない。
23:48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.
23:49 あなたがたの淫乱の報いは、あなたがたの上にくだり、あなたがたはその偶像礼拝の罪を負い、そしてわたしが主なる神であることを知るようになる」。
23:49 And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and all of you shall bear the sins of your idols: and all of you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
24:1 第九年の十月十日に、主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
24:1 Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:2 「人の子よ、あなたはこの日すなわち今日の名を書きしるせ。バビロンの王は、この日エルサレムを包囲した。
24:2 Son of man, write you the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
24:3 あなたはこの反逆の家にたとえを語って言え。主なる神はこう言われる、かますをすえ、これをすえて、水をくみ入れよ。
24:3 And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
24:4 その中に肉の切れを入れよ、すべて良い肉の切れ、すなわち、ももと肩の肉をこれに入れよ。良い骨をこれに満たせ。
24:4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
24:5 羊の最も良いものを取れ。かまの下にまきを積み、その肉を煮たぎらせ、またその中の骨を煮よ。
24:5 Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
24:6 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、わざわいなるかな、流血の町、さびているかま。そのさびはこれを離れない。肉をひとつびとつ無差別に取り出せ。
24:6 Wherefore thus says the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
24:7 その流した血はまだその中にある。彼女はこれを裸岩の上に流し、土でこれをおおうために、地面には注がなかった。
24:7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
24:8 これは、わたしの怒りをつのらせ、あだを返すために、その流した血がおおわれないように、裸岩の上に流したのである。
24:8 That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
24:9 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、わざわいなるかな、流血の町。わたしもまた、まきをさらに積み重ねる。
24:9 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
24:10 まきを積み重ね、火を燃やし、肉をよく煮て、煮つくし、骨を焼け。
24:10 Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
24:11 そしてかまを熱くするため、それをからにして炭火の上に置き、その銅を焼いて、汚れをその中に溶かし、そのさびを去れ。
24:11 Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
24:12 しかしわたしのほねおりは、むだであった。その多くのさびは火によって消えない。
24:12 She has wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
24:13 そのさびとは、あなたの不潔な淫行である。わたしはあなたを清めようとしたが、あなたはあなたの不潔から清められようとしないから、わたしの怒りをあなたに漏らし尽すまでは、あなたは汚れから清まることはない。
24:13 In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged you, and you were not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon you.
24:14 主なるわたしはこれを言った。そしてこれは必ず成る。わたしはこれをなす。わたしはやめない、惜しまない、悔いない。あなたのおこないにより、あなたのわざによって、あなたをさばくと、主なる神は言われる」。
24:14 I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, shall they judge you, says the Lord GOD.
24:15 また主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
24:15 Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:16 「人の子よ、見よ、わたしは、にわかにあなたの目の喜ぶ者を取り去る。嘆いてはならない。泣いてはならない。涙を流してはならない。
24:16 Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of yours eyes with a stroke: yet neither shall you mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down.
24:17 声をたてずに嘆け。死人のために嘆き悲しむな。ずきんをかぶり、足にくつをはけ。口をおおうな。嘆きのパンを食べるな」。
24:17 Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the head decoration of yours head upon you, and put on your shoes upon your feet, and cover not your lips, and eat not the bread of men.
24:18 朝のうちに、わたしは人々に語ったが、夕べには、わたしの妻は死んだ。翌朝わたしは命じられたようにした。
24:18 So I spoke unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
24:19 人々はわたしに言った、「あなたがするこの事は、われわれになんの関係があるのか、それをわれわれに告げてはくれまいか」。
24:19 And the people said unto me, Will you not tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?
24:20 わたしは彼らに言った、「主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
24:20 Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:21 『イスラエルの家に言え、主なる神はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたがたの力の誇、目の喜び、心の望みであるわが聖所を汚す。あなたがたが残すむすこ娘たちは、つるぎに倒れる。
24:21 Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom all of you have left shall fall by the sword.
24:22 あなたがたもわたしがしたようにし、口をおおわず、嘆きのパンを食べず、
24:22 And all of you shall do as I have done: all of you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
24:23 頭にずきんをかぶり、足にくつをはき、嘆かず、泣かず、その罪の中にやせ衰えて、互にうめくようになる。
24:23 And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: all of you shall not mourn nor weep; but all of you shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
24:24 このようにエゼキエルはあなたがたのためにしるしとなる。彼がしたようにあなたがたもせよ。この事が成る時、あなたがたはわたしが主なる神であることを知るようになる』。
24:24 Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he has done shall all of you do: and when this comes, all of you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

24:25 Also, you son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,

24:26 That he that escapes in that day shall come unto you, to cause you to hear it with yours ears?

24:27 In that day shall your mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more dumb: and you shall be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
