1:1 さて、ヤコブと共に、おのおのその家族を伴って、エジプトへ行ったイスラエルの子らの名は次のとおりである。
1:1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
1:2 すなわちルベン、シメオン、レビ、ユダ、
1:2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
1:3 イッサカル、ゼブルン、ベニヤミン、
1:3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
1:4 ダン、ナフタリ、ガド、アセルであった。
1:4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
1:5 ヤコブの腰から出たものは、合わせて七十人。ヨセフはすでにエジプトにいた。
1:5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
1:6 そして、ヨセフは死に、兄弟たちも、その時代の人々もみな死んだ。
1:6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
1:7 けれどもイスラエルの子孫は多くの子を生み、ますますふえ、はなはだ強くなって、国に満ちるようになった。
1:7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
1:8 ここに、ヨセフのことを知らない新しい王が、エジプトに起った。
1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
1:9 彼はその民に言った、「見よ、イスラエルびとなるこの民は、われわれにとって、あまりにも多く、また強すぎる。
1:9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
1:10 さあ、われわれは、抜かりなく彼らを取り扱おう。彼らが多くなり、戦いの起るとき、敵に味方して、われわれと戦い、ついにこの国から逃げ去ることのないようにしよう」。
1:10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falls out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
1:11 そこでエジプトびとは彼らの上に監督をおき、重い労役をもって彼らを苦しめた。彼らはパロのために倉庫の町ピトムとラメセスを建てた。
1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
1:12 しかしイスラエルの人々が苦しめられるにしたがって、いよいよふえひろがるので、彼らはイスラエルの人々のゆえに恐れをなした。
1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
1:13 エジプトびとはイスラエルの人々をきびしく使い、
1:13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
1:14 つらい務をもってその生活を苦しめた。すなわち、しっくいこね、れんが作り、および田畑のあらゆる務に当らせたが、そのすべての労役はきびしかった。
1:14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
1:15 またエジプトの王は、ヘブルの女のために取上げをする助産婦でひとりは名をシフラといい、他のひとりは名をプアという者にさとして、
1:15 And the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
1:16 言った、「ヘブルの女のために助産をするとき、産み台の上を見て、もし男の子ならばそれを殺し、女の子ならば生かしておきなさい」。
1:16 And he said, When all of you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then all of you shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
1:17 しかし助産婦たちは神をおそれ、エジプトの王が彼らに命じたようにはせず、男の子を生かしておいた。
1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
1:18 エジプトの王は助産婦たちを召して言った、「あなたがたはなぜこのようなことをして、男の子を生かしておいたのか」。
1:18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have all of you done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
1:19 助産婦たちはパロに言った、「ヘブルの女はエジプトの女とは違い、彼女たちは健やかで助産婦が行く前に産んでしまいます」。
1:19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered before the midwives come in unto them.
1:20 それで神は助産婦たちに恵みをほどこされた。そして民はふえ、非常に強くなった。
1:20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
1:21 助産婦たちは神をおそれたので、神は彼女たちの家を栄えさせられた。
1:21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
1:22 そこでパロはそのすべての民に命じて言った、「ヘブルびとに男の子が生れたならば、みなナイル川に投げこめ。しかし女の子はみな生かしておけ」。
1:22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born all of you shall cast into the river, and every daughter all of you shall keep alive.
2:1 さて、レビの家のひとりの人が行ってレビの娘をめとった。
2:1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2:2 女はみごもって、男の子を産んだが、その麗しいのを見て、三月のあいだ隠していた。
2:2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
2:3 しかし、もう隠しきれなくなったので、パピルスで編んだかごを取り、それにアスファルトと樹脂とを塗って、子をその中に入れ、これをナイル川の岸の葦の中においた。
2:3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with bitumen and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
2:4 その姉は、彼がどうされるかを知ろうと、遠く離れて立っていた。
2:4 And his sister stood far off, to know what would be done to him.
2:5 ときにパロの娘が身を洗おうと、川に降りてきた。侍女たちは川べを歩いていたが、彼女は、葦の中にかごのあるのを見て、つかえめをやり、それを取ってこさせ、
2:5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
2:6 あけて見ると子供がいた。見よ、幼な子は泣いていた。彼女はかわいそうに思って言った、「これはヘブルびとの子供です」。
2:6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
2:7 そのとき幼な子の姉はパロの娘に言った、「わたしが行ってヘブルの女のうちから、あなたのために、この子に乳を飲ませるうばを呼んでまいりましょうか」。
2:7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to you a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?
2:8 パロの娘が「行ってきてください」と言うと、少女は行ってその子の母を呼んできた。
2:8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.
2:9 パロの娘は彼女に言った、「この子を連れて行って、わたしに代り、乳を飲ませてください。わたしはその報酬をさしあげます」。女はその子を引き取って、これに乳を与えた。
2:9 And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give you your wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.
2:10 その子が成長したので、彼女はこれをパロの娘のところに連れて行った。そして彼はその子となった。彼女はその名をモーセと名づけて言った、「水の中からわたしが引き出したからです」。
2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
2:11 モーセが成長して後、ある日のこと、同胞の所に出て行って、そのはげしい労役を見た。彼はひとりのエジプトびとが、同胞のひとりであるヘブルびとを打つのを見たので、
2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
2:12 左右を見まわし、人のいないのを見て、そのエジプトびとを打ち殺し、これを砂の中に隠した。
2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
2:13 次の日また出て行って、ふたりのヘブルびとが互に争っているのを見、悪い方の男に言った、「あなたはなぜ、あなたの友を打つのですか」。
2:13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smite you your fellow?
2:14 彼は言った、「だれがあなたを立てて、われわれのつかさ、また裁判人としたのですか。エジプトびとを殺したように、あなたはわたしを殺そうと思うのですか」。モーセは恐れた。そしてあの事がきっと知れたのだと思った。
2:14 And he said, Who made you a prince and a judge over us? intend you to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
2:15 パロはこの事を聞いて、モーセを殺そうとした。しかしモーセはパロの前をのがれて、ミデヤンの地に行き、井戸のかたわらに座していた。
2:15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
2:16 さて、ミデヤンの祭司に七人の娘があった。彼女たちはきて水をくみ、水槽にみたして父の羊の群れに飲ませようとしたが、
2:16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
2:17 羊飼たちがきて彼女らを追い払ったので、モーセは立ち上がって彼女たちを助け、その羊の群れに水を飲ませた。
2:17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
2:18 彼女たちが父リウエルのところに帰った時、父は言った、「きょうは、どうして、こんなに早く帰ってきたのか」。
2:18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that all of you are come so soon to day?
2:19 彼女たちは言った、「ひとりのエジプトびとが、わたしたちを羊飼たちの手から助け出し、そのうえ、水をたくさんくんで、羊の群れに飲ませてくれたのです」。
2:19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
2:20 彼は娘たちに言った、「そのかたはどこにおられるか。なぜ、そのかたをおいてきたのか。呼んできて、食事をさしあげなさい」。
2:20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that all of you have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
2:21 モーセがこの人と共におることを好んだので、彼は娘のチッポラを妻としてモーセに与えた。
2:21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
2:22 彼女が男の子を産んだので、モーセはその名をゲルショムと名づけた。「わたしは外国に寄留者となっている」と言ったからである。
2:22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
2:23 多くの日を経て、エジプトの王は死んだ。イスラエルの人々は、その苦役の務のゆえにうめき、また叫んだが、その苦役のゆえの叫びは神に届いた。
2:23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
2:24 神は彼らのうめきを聞き、神はアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブとの契約を覚え、
2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
2:25 神はイスラエルの人々を顧み、神は彼らをしろしめされた。
2:25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
3:1 モーセは妻の父、ミデヤンの祭司エテロの羊の群れを飼っていたが、その群れを荒野の奥に導いて、神の山ホレブにきた。
3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
3:2 ときに主の使は、しばの中の炎のうちに彼に現れた。彼が見ると、しばは火に燃えているのに、そのしばはなくならなかった。
3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3:3 モーセは言った、「行ってこの大きな見ものを見、なぜしばが燃えてしまわないかを知ろう」。
3:3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
3:4 主は彼がきて見定めようとするのを見、神はしばの中から彼を呼んで、「モーセよ、モーセよ」と言われた。彼は「ここにいます」と言った。
3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
3:5 神は言われた、「ここに近づいてはいけない。足からくつを脱ぎなさい。あなたが立っているその場所は聖なる地だからである」。
3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh here: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place whereon you stand is holy ground.
3:6 また言われた、「わたしは、あなたの先祖の神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である」。モーセは神を見ることを恐れたので顔を隠した。
3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
3:7 主はまた言われた、「わたしは、エジプトにいるわたしの民の悩みを、つぶさに見、また追い使う者のゆえに彼らの叫ぶのを聞いた。わたしは彼らの苦しみを知っている。
3:7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
3:8 わたしは下って、彼らをエジプトびとの手から救い出し、これをかの地から導き上って、良い広い地、乳と蜜の流れる地、すなわちカナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとのおる所に至らせようとしている。
3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
3:9 いまイスラエルの人々の叫びがわたしに届いた。わたしはまたエジプトびとが彼らをしえたげる、そのしえたげを見た。
3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
3:10 さあ、わたしは、あなたをパロにつかわして、わたしの民、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出させよう」。
3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send you unto Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
3:11 モーセは神に言った、「わたしは、いったい何者でしょう。わたしがパロのところへ行って、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出すのでしょうか」。
3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
3:12 神は言われた、「わたしは必ずあなたと共にいる。これが、わたしのあなたをつかわしたしるしである。あなたが民をエジプトから導き出したとき、あなたがたはこの山で神に仕えるであろう」。
3:12 And he said, Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be a token unto you, that I have sent you: When you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, all of you shall serve God upon this mountain.
3:13 モーセは神に言った、「わたしがイスラエルの人々のところへ行って、彼らに『あなたがたの先祖の神が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と言うとき、彼らが『その名はなんというのですか』とわたしに聞くならば、なんと答えましょうか」。
3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
3:14 神はモーセに言われた、「わたしは、有って有る者」。また言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい、『「わたしは有る」というかたが、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と」。
3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you.
3:15 神はまたモーセに言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい『あなたがたの先祖の神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である主が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と。これは永遠にわたしの名、これは世々のわたしの呼び名である。
3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
3:16 あなたは行って、イスラエルの長老たちを集めて言いなさい、『あなたがたの先祖の神、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの神である主は、わたしに現れて言われました、「わたしはあなたがたを顧み、あなたがたがエジプトでされている事を確かに見た。
3:16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
3:17 それでわたしはあなたがたを、エジプトの悩みから導き出して、カナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとの地、乳と蜜の流れる地へ携え上ろうと決心した」と』。
3:17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
3:18 彼らはあなたの声に聞き従うであろう。あなたはイスラエルの長老たちと一緒にエジプトの王のところへ行って言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主がわたしたちに現れられました。それで、わたしたちを、三日の道のりほど荒野に行かせて、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげることを許してください』と。
3:18 And they shall hearken to your voice: and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and all of you shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews has met with us: and now let us go, we plead to you, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
3:19 しかし、エジプトの王は強い手をもって迫らなければ、あなたがたを行かせないのをわたしは知っている。
3:19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
3:20 それで、わたしは手を伸べて、エジプトのうちに行おうとする、さまざまの不思議をもってエジプトを打とう。その後に彼はあなたがたを去らせるであろう。
3:20 And I will stretch out my hand, and strike Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
3:21 わたしはこの民にエジプトびとの好意を得させる。あなたがたは去るときに、むなし手で去ってはならない。
3:21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when all of you go, all of you shall not go empty.
3:22 女はみな、その隣の女と、家に宿っている女に、銀の飾り、金の飾り、また衣服を求めなさい。そしてこれらを、あなたがたのむすこ、娘に着けさせなさい。このようにエジプトびとのものを奪い取りなさい」。
3:22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourns in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and all of you shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and all of you shall spoil the Egyptians.
4:1 モーセは言った、「しかし、彼らはわたしを信ぜず、またわたしの声に聞き従わないで言うでしょう、『主はあなたに現れなかった』と」。
4:1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD has not appeared unto you.
4:2 主は彼に言われた、「あなたの手にあるそれは何か」。彼は言った、「つえです」。
4:2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in yours hand? And he said, A rod.
4:3 また言われた、「それを地に投げなさい」。彼がそれを地に投げると、へびになったので、モーセはその前から身を避けた。
4:3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
4:4 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたの手を伸ばして、その尾を取りなさい。――そこで手を伸ばしてそれを取ると、手のなかでつえとなった。――
4:4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth yours hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
4:5 これは、彼らの先祖たちの神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である主が、あなたに現れたのを、彼らに信じさせるためである」。
4:5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared unto you.
4:6 主はまた彼に言われた、「あなたの手をふところに入れなさい」。彼が手をふところに入れ、それを出すと、手は、らい病にかかって、雪のように白くなっていた。
4:6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now yours hand into your bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
4:7 主は言われた、「手をふところにもどしなさい」。彼は手をふところにもどし、それをふところから出して見ると、回復して、もとの肉のようになっていた。
4:7 And he said, Put yours hand into your bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
4:8 主は言われた、「彼らがもしあなたを信ぜず、また初めのしるしを認めないならば、後のしるしは信じるであろう。
4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
4:9 彼らがもしこの二つのしるしをも信ぜず、あなたの声に聞き従わないならば、あなたはナイル川の水を取って、かわいた地に注ぎなさい。あなたがナイル川から取った水は、かわいた地で血となるであろう」。
4:9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
4:10 モーセは主に言った、「ああ主よ、わたしは以前にも、またあなたが、しもべに語られてから後も、言葉の人ではありません。わたしは口も重く、舌も重いのです」。
4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither in time past, nor since you have spoken unto your servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
4:11 主は彼に言われた、「だれが人に口を授けたのか。話せず、聞えず、また、見え、見えなくする者はだれか。主なるわたしではないか。
4:11 And the LORD said unto him, Who has made man's mouth? or who makes the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
4:12 それゆえ行きなさい。わたしはあなたの口と共にあって、あなたの言うべきことを教えるであろう」。
4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall say.
4:13 モーセは言った、「ああ、主よ、どうか、ほかの適当な人をおつかわしください」。
4:13 And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray you, by the hand of him whom you will send.
4:14 そこで、主はモーセにむかって怒りを発して言われた、「あなたの兄弟レビびとアロンがいるではないか。わたしは彼が言葉にすぐれているのを知っている。見よ、彼はあなたに会おうとして出てきている。彼はあなたを見て心に喜ぶであろう。
4:14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he comes forth to meet you: and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
4:15 あなたは彼に語って言葉をその口に授けなさい。わたしはあなたの口と共にあり、彼の口と共にあって、あなたがたのなすべきことを教え、
4:15 And you shall speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what all of you shall do.
4:16 彼はあなたに代って民に語るであろう。彼はあなたの口となり、あなたは彼のために、神に代るであろう。
4:16 And he shall be your spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to you instead of a mouth, and you shall be to him instead of God.
4:17 あなたはそのつえを手に執り、それをもって、しるしを行いなさい」。
4:17 And you shall take this rod in yours hand, wherewith you shall do signs.

4:18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray you, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
4:19 主はミデヤンでモーセに言われた、「エジプトに帰って行きなさい。あなたの命を求めた人々はみな死んだ」。
4:19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought your life.
4:20 そこでモーセは妻と子供たちをとり、ろばに乗せて、エジプトの地に帰った。モーセは手に神のつえを執った。
4:20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
4:21 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたがエジプトに帰ったとき、わたしがあなたの手に授けた不思議を、みなパロの前で行いなさい。しかし、わたしが彼の心をかたくなにするので、彼は民を去らせないであろう。
4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When you go to return into Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in yours hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
4:22 あなたはパロに言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる。イスラエルはわたしの子、わたしの長子である。
4:22 And you shall say unto Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
4:23 わたしはあなたに言う。わたしの子を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。もし彼を去らせるのを拒むならば、わたしはあなたの子、あなたの長子を殺すであろう』と」。
4:23 And I say unto you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn.
4:24 さてモーセが途中で宿っている時、主は彼に会って彼を殺そうとされた。
4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

4:25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband are you to me.

4:26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband you are, because of the circumcision.

4:27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.

4:28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
4:29 そこでモーセとアロンは行ってイスラエルの人々の長老たちをみな集めた。
4:29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
4:30 そしてアロンは主がモーセに語られた言葉を、ことごとく告げた。また彼は民の前でしるしを行ったので、
4:30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
4:31 民は信じた。彼らは主がイスラエルの人々を顧み、その苦しみを見られたのを聞き、伏して礼拝した。
4:31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
5:1 その後、モーセとアロンは行ってパロに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、『わたしの民を去らせ、荒野で、わたしのために祭をさせなさい』と」。
5:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
5:2 パロは言った、「主とはいったい何者か。わたしがその声に聞き従ってイスラエルを去らせなければならないのか。わたしは主を知らない。またイスラエルを去らせはしない」。
5:2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
5:3 彼らは言った、「ヘブルびとの神がわたしたちに現れました。どうか、わたしたちを三日の道のりほど荒野に行かせ、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげさせてください。そうしなければ主は疫病か、つるぎをもって、わたしたちを悩まされるからです」。
5:3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews has met with us: let us go, we pray you, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
5:4 エジプトの王は彼らに言った、「モーセとアロンよ、あなたがたは、なぜ民に働きをやめさせようとするのか。自分の労役につくがよい」。
5:4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do all of you, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

5:5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and all of you make them rest from their burdens.

5:6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
5:7 「あなたがたは、れんがを作るためのわらを、もはや、今までのように、この民に与えてはならない。彼らに自分で行って、わらを集めさせなさい。
5:7 All of you shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as in time past: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
5:8 また前に作っていた、れんがの数どおりに彼らに作らせ、それを減らしてはならない。彼らはなまけ者だ。それだから、彼らは叫んで、『行ってわたしたちの神に犠牲をささげさせよ』と言うのだ。
5:8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make in time past, all of you shall lay upon them; all of you shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
5:9 この人々の労役を重くして、働かせ、偽りの言葉に心を寄せさせぬようにしなさい」。
5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
5:10 そこで民を追い使う者たちと、民のかしらたちは出て行って、民に言った、「パロはこう仰せられる、『あなたがたに、わらは与えない。
5:10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, Thus says Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
5:11 自分で行って、見つかる所から、わらを取って来るがよい。しかし働きは少しも減らしてはならない』と」。
5:11 Go all of you, get you straw where all of you can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
5:12 そこで民はエジプトの全地に散って、わらのかわりに、刈り株を集めた。
5:12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
5:13 追い使う者たちは、彼らをせき立てて言った、「わらがあった時と同じように、あなたがたの働きの、日ごとの分を仕上げなければならない」。
5:13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfill your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

5:14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have all of you not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as in time past?
5:15 そこで、イスラエルの人々のかしらたちはパロのところに行き、叫んで言った、「あなたはなぜ、しもべどもにこんなことをなさるのですか。
5:15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore deal you thus with your servants?
5:16 しもべどもは、わらを与えられず、しかも彼らはわたしたちに、『れんがは作れ』と言うのです。その上、しもべどもは打たれています。罪はあなたの民にあるのです」。
5:16 There is no straw given unto your servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in yours own people.
5:17 パロは言った、「あなたがたは、なまけ者だ、なまけ者だ。それだから、『行って、主に犠牲をささげさせよ』と言うのだ。
5:17 But he said, All of you are idle, all of you are idle: therefore all of you say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.
5:18 さあ、行って働きなさい。わらは与えないが、なおあなたがたは定めた数のれんがを納めなければならない」。
5:18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall all of you deliver the tale of bricks.
5:19 イスラエルの人々のかしらたちは、「れんがの日ごとの分を減らしてはならない」と言われたので、悪い事態になったことを知った。
5:19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, All of you shall not diminish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

5:20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

5:21 And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because all of you have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
5:22 モーセは主のもとに帰って言った、「主よ、あなたは、なぜこの民をひどい目にあわされるのですか。なんのためにわたしをつかわされたのですか。
5:22 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, LORD, wherefore have you so evil pleaded this people? why is it that you have sent me?
5:23 わたしがパロのもとに行って、あなたの名によって語ってからこのかた、彼はこの民をひどい目にあわせるばかりです。また、あなたは、すこしもあなたの民を救おうとなさいません」。
5:23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have you delivered your people at all.
6:1 主はモーセに言われた、「今、あなたは、わたしがパロに何をしようとしているかを見るであろう。すなわちパロは強い手にしいられて、彼らを去らせるであろう。否、彼は強い手にしいられて、彼らを国から追い出すであろう」。
6:1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shall you see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
6:2 神はモーセに言われた、「わたしは主である。
6:2 And God spoke unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
6:3 わたしはアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブには全能の神として現れたが、主という名では、自分を彼らに知らせなかった。
6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
6:4 わたしはまたカナンの地、すなわち彼らが寄留したその寄留の地を、彼らに与えるという契約を彼らと立てた。
6:4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

6:5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
6:6 それゆえ、イスラエルの人々に言いなさい、『わたしは主である。わたしはあなたがたをエジプトびとの労役の下から導き出し、奴隷の務から救い、また伸べた腕と大いなるさばきをもって、あなたがたをあがなうであろう。
6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
6:7 わたしはあなたがたを取ってわたしの民とし、わたしはあなたがたの神となる。わたしがエジプトびとの労役の下からあなたがたを導き出すあなたがたの神、主であることを、あなたがたは知るであろう。
6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and all of you shall know that I am the LORD your God, which brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
6:8 わたしはアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに与えると手を挙げて誓ったその地にあなたがたをはいらせ、それを所有として、与えるであろう。わたしは主である』と」。
6:8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
6:9 モーセはこのようにイスラエルの人々に語ったが、彼らは心の痛みと、きびしい奴隷の務のゆえに、モーセに聞き従わなかった。
6:9 And Moses spoke so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
6:10 さて主はモーセに言われた、
6:10 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
6:11 「エジプトの王パロのところに行って、彼がイスラエルの人々をその国から去らせるように話しなさい」。
6:11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
6:12 モーセは主にむかって言った、「イスラエルの人々でさえ、わたしの言うことを聞かなかったのに、どうして、くちびるに割礼のないわたしの言うことを、パロが聞き入れましょうか」。
6:12 And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?
6:13 しかし、主はモーセとアロンに語って、イスラエルの人々と、エジプトの王パロのもとに行かせ、イスラエルの人々をエジプトの地から導き出せと命じられた。
6:13 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
6:14 彼らの先祖の家の首長たちは次のとおりである。すなわちイスラエルの長子ルベンの子らはハノク、パル、ヘヅロン、カルミで、これらはルベンの一族である。
6:14 These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben.
6:15 シメオンの子らはエムエル、ヤミン、オハデ、ヤキン、ゾハル、およびカナンの女から生れたシャウルで、これらはシメオンの一族である。
6:15 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon.
6:16 レビの子らの名は、その世代に従えば、ゲルション、コハテ、メラリで、レビの一生は百三十七年であった。
6:16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.
6:17 ゲルションの子らの一族はリブニとシメイである。
6:17 The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families.
6:18 コハテの子らはアムラム、イヅハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルで、コハテの一生は百三十三年であった。
6:18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years.
6:19 メラリの子らはマヘリとムシである。これらはその世代によるレビの一族である。
6:19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families of Levi according to their generations.
6:20 アムラムは父の妹ヨケベデを妻としたが、彼女はアロンとモーセを彼に産んだ。アムラムの一生は百三十七年であった。
6:20 And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.

6:21 And the sons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri.
6:22 ウジエルの子らはミサエル、エルザパン、シテリである。
6:22 And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri.
6:23 アロンはナションの姉妹、アミナダブの娘エリセバを妻とした。エリセバは彼にナダブ、アビウ、エレアザル、イタマルを産んだ。
6:23 And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
6:24 コラの子らはアッシル、エルカナ、アビアサフで、これらはコラびとの一族である。
6:24 And the sons of Korah; Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph: these are the families of the Korhites.
6:25 アロンの子エレアザルはプテエルの娘のひとりを妻とした。彼女はピネハスを彼に産んだ。これらは、その一族によるレビびとの先祖の家の首長たちである。
6:25 And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.
6:26 主が、「イスラエルの人々をその軍団に従って、エジプトの地から導き出しなさい」と言われたのは、このアロンとモーセである。
6:26 These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.
6:27 彼らはイスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出すことについて、エジプトの王パロに語ったもので、すなわちこのモーセとアロンである。
6:27 These are they which spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron.
6:28 主がエジプトの地でモーセに語られた日に、
6:28 And it came to pass on the day when the LORD spoke unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
6:29 主はモーセに言われた、「わたしは主である。わたしがあなたに語ることは、みなエジプトの王パロに語りなさい」。
6:29 That the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, I am the LORD: speak you unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto you.
6:30 しかしモーセは主にむかって言った、「ごらんのとおり、わたしは、くちびるに割礼のない者です。パロがどうしてわたしの言うことを聞きいれましょうか」。
6:30 And Moses said before the LORD, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?
7:1 主はモーセに言われた、「見よ、わたしはあなたをパロに対して神のごときものとする。あなたの兄弟アロンはあなたの預言者となるであろう。
7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made you a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
7:2 あなたはわたしが命じることを、ことごとく彼に告げなければならない。そしてあなたの兄弟アロンはパロに告げて、イスラエルの人々をその国から去らせるようにさせなければならない。
7:2 You shall speak all that I command you: and Aaron your brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
7:3 しかし、わたしはパロの心をかたくなにするので、わたしのしるしと不思議をエジプトの国に多く行っても、
7:3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
7:4 パロはあなたがたの言うことを聞かないであろう。それでわたしは手をエジプトの上に加え、大いなるさばきをくだして、わたしの軍団、わたしの民イスラエルの人々を、エジプトの国から導き出すであろう。
7:4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
7:5 わたしが手をエジプトの上にさし伸べて、イスラエルの人々を彼らのうちから導き出す時、エジプトびとはわたしが主であることを知るようになるであろう」。
7:5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
7:6 モーセとアロンはそのように行った。すなわち主が彼らに命じられたように行った。
7:6 And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.
7:7 彼らがパロと語った時、モーセは八十歳、アロンは八十三歳であった。
7:7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke unto Pharaoh.
7:8 主はモーセとアロンに言われた、
7:8 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
7:9 「パロがあなたがたに、『不思議をおこなって証拠を示せ』と言う時、あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえを取って、パロの前に投げなさい』と。するとそれはへびになるであろう」。
7:9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Show a miracle for you: then you shall say unto Aaron, Take your rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.
7:10 それで、モーセとアロンはパロのところに行き、主の命じられたとおりにおこなった。すなわちアロンはそのつえを、パロとその家来たちの前に投げると、それはへびになった。
7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
7:11 そこでパロもまた知者と魔法使を召し寄せた。これらのエジプトの魔術師らもまた、その秘術をもって同じように行った。
7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
7:12 すなわち彼らは、おのおのそのつえを投げたが、それらはへびになった。しかし、アロンのつえは彼らのつえを、のみつくした。
7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
7:13 けれども、パロの心はかたくなになって、主の言われたように、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。
7:13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
7:14 主はモーセに言われた、「パロの心はかたくなで、彼は民を去らせることを拒んでいる。
7:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuses to let the people go.
7:15 あなたは、あすの朝、パロのところに行きなさい。見よ、彼は水のところに出ている。あなたは、へびに変ったあのつえを手に執り、ナイル川の岸に立って彼に会い、
7:15 Get you unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goes out unto the water; and you shall stand by the river's brink meeting him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shall you take in yours hand.
7:16 そして彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主がわたしをあなたにつかわして言われます、「わたしの民を去らせ、荒野で、わたしに仕えるようにさせよ」と。しかし今もなお、あなたが聞きいれようとされないので、
7:16 And you shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me unto you, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, until now you would not hear.
7:17 主はこう仰せられます、「これによってわたしが主であることを、あなたは知るでしょう。見よ、わたしが手にあるつえでナイル川の水を打つと、それは血に変るであろう。
7:17 Thus says the LORD, In this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, I will strike with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
7:18 そして川の魚は死に、川は臭くなり、エジプトびとは川の水を飲むことをいとうであろう」』と」。
7:18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink of the water of the river.
7:19 主はまたモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえを執って、手をエジプトの水の上、川の上、流れの上、池の上、またそのすべての水たまりの上にさし伸べて、それを血にならせなさい。エジプト全国にわたって、木の器、石の器にも、血があるようになるでしょう』と」。
7:19 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take your rod, and stretch out yours hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
7:20 モーセとアロンは主の命じられたようにおこなった。すなわち、彼はパロとその家来たちの目の前で、つえをあげてナイル川の水を打つと、川の水は、ことごとく血に変った。
7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and stroke the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
7:21 それで川の魚は死に、川は臭くなり、エジプトびとは川の水を飲むことができなくなった。そしてエジプト全国にわたって血があった。
7:21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
7:22 エジプトの魔術師らも秘術をもって同じようにおこなった。しかし、主の言われたように、パロの心はかたくなになり、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。
7:22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.
7:23 パロは身をめぐらして家に入り、またこのことをも心に留めなかった。
7:23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.
7:24 すべてのエジプトびとはナイル川の水が飲めなかったので、飲む水を得ようと、川のまわりを掘った。
7:24 And all the Egyptians dug round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.
7:25 主がナイル川を打たれてのち七日を経た。
7:25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.
8:1 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはパロのところに行って言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられます、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
8:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus says the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
8:2 しかし、去らせることを拒むならば、見よ、わたしは、かえるをもって、あなたの領土を、ことごとく撃つであろう。
8:2 And if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will strike all your borders with frogs:
8:3 ナイル川にかえるが群がり、のぼって、あなたの家、あなたの寝室にはいり、寝台にのぼり、あなたの家来と民の家にはいり、またあなたのかまどや、こね鉢にはいり、
8:3 And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into yours house, and into your bedchamber, and upon your bed, and into the house of your servants, and upon your people, and into yours ovens, and into your kneading troughs:
8:4 あなたと、あなたの民と、すべての家来のからだに、はい上がるであろう」と』」。
8:4 And the frogs shall come up both on you, and upon your people, and upon all your servants.
8:5 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『つえを持って、手を川の上、流れの上、、池の上にさし伸べ、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせなさい』と」。
8:5 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth yours hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
8:6 アロンが手をエジプトの水の上にさし伸べたので、かえるはのぼってエジプトの地をおおった。
8:6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.
8:7 魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行い、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせた。
8:7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.
8:8 パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「かえるをわたしと、わたしの民から取り去るように主に願ってください。そのときわたしはこの民を去らせて、主に犠牲をささげさせるでしょう」。
8:8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Implore the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD.
8:9 モーセはパロに言った、「あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民のために、わたしがいつ願って、このかえるを、あなたとあなたの家から断って、ナイル川だけにとどまらせるべきか、きめてください」。
8:9 And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I implore for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only?
8:10 パロは言った、「明日」。モーセは言った、「仰せのとおりになって、わたしたちの神、主に並ぶもののないことを、あなたが知られますように。
8:10 And he said, Tomorrow. And he said, Be it according to your word: that you may know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

8:11 And the frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people; they shall remain in the river only.
8:12 こうしてモーセとアロンはパロを離れて出た。モーセは主がパロにつかわされたかえるの事について、主に呼び求めたので、
8:12 And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.
8:13 主はモーセのことばのようにされ、かえるは家から、庭から、また畑から死に絶えた。
8:13 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields.
8:14 これをひと山ひと山に積んだので、地は臭くなった。
8:14 And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land stank.
8:15 ところがパロは息つくひまのできたのを見て、主が言われたように、その心をかたくなにして彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。
8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
8:16 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえをさし伸べて地のちりを打ち、それをエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとならせなさい』と」。
8:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
8:17 彼らはそのように行った。すなわちアロンはそのつえをとって手をさし伸べ、地のちりを打ったので、ぶよは人と家畜についた。すなわち、地のちりはみなエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとなった。
8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and stroke the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
8:18 魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行ない、ぶよを出そうとしたが、彼らにはできなかった。ぶよが人と家畜についたので、
8:18 And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast.
8:19 魔術師らはパロに言った、「これは神の指です」。しかし主の言われたように、パロの心はかたくなになって、彼らのいうことを聞かなかった。
8:19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
8:20 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたは朝早く起きてパロの前に立ちなさい。ちょうど彼は水のところに出ているから彼に言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
8:20 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he comes forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus says the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
8:21 あなたがわたしの民を去らせないならば、わたしは、あなたとあなたの家来と、あなたの民とあなたの家とに、あぶの群れをつかわすであろう。エジプトびとの家々は、あぶの群れで満ち、彼らの踏む地もまた、そうなるであろう。
8:21 Else, if you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon you, and upon your servants, and upon your people, and into your houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
8:22 その日わたしは、わたしの民の住むゴセンの地を区別して、そこにあぶの群れを入れないであろう。国の中でわたしが主であることをあなたが知るためである。
8:22 And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
8:23 わたしはわたしの民とあなたの民の間に区別をおく。このしるしは、あす起るであろう」と』」。
8:23 And I will put a division between my people and your people: tomorrow shall this sign be.
8:24 主はそのようにされたので、おびただしいあぶが、パロの家と、その家来の家と、エジプトの全国にはいってきて、地はあぶの群れのために害をうけた。
8:24 And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.
8:25 そこで、パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「あなたがたは行ってこの国の内で、あなたがたの神に犠牲をささげなさい」。
8:25 And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go all of you, sacrifice to your God in the land.
8:26 モーセは言った、「そうすることはできません。わたしたちはエジプトびとの忌むものを犠牲として、わたしたちの神、主にささげるからです。もし、エジプトびとの目の前で、彼らの忌むものを犠牲にささげるならば、彼らはわたしたちを石で打たないでしょうか。
8:26 And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?
8:27 わたしたちは三日の道のりほど、荒野にはいって、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげ、主がわたしたちに命じられるようにしなければなりません」。
8:27 We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.
8:28 パロは言った、「わたしはあなたがたを去らせ、荒野で、あなたがたの神、主に犠牲をささげさせよう。ただあまり遠くへ行ってはならない。わたしのために祈願しなさい」。
8:28 And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that all of you may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only all of you shall not go very far away: implore for me.
8:29 モーセは言った、「わたしはあなたのもとから出て行って主に祈願しましょう。あすあぶの群れがパロと、その家来と、その民から離れるでしょう。ただパロはまた欺いて、民が主に犠牲をささげに行くのをとめないようにしてください」。
8:29 And Moses said, Behold, I go out from you, and I will implore the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.
8:30 こうしてモーセはパロのもとを出て、主に祈願したので、
8:30 And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and implored the LORD.
8:31 主はモーセの言葉のようにされた。すなわち、あぶの群れをパロと、その家来と、その民から取り去られたので、一つも残らなかった。
8:31 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.
8:32 しかしパロはこんどもまた、その心をかたくなにして民を去らせなかった。
8:32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.
9:1 主はモーセに言われた、「パロのもとに行って、彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
9:1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
9:2 あなたがもし彼らを去らせることを拒んで、なお彼らを留めおくならば、
9:2 For if you refuse to let them go, and will hold them still,
9:3 主の手は最も激しい疫病をもって、野にいるあなたの家畜、すなわち馬、ろば、らくだ、牛、羊の上に臨むであろう。
9:3 Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon your cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.
9:4 しかし、主はイスラエルの家畜と、エジプトの家畜を区別され、すべてイスラエルの人々に属するものには一頭も死ぬものがないであろう」と』」。
9:4 And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.
9:5 主は、また、時を定めて仰せられた、「あす、主はこのことを国に行うであろう」。
9:5 And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.
9:6 あくる日、主はこのことを行われたので、エジプトびとの家畜はみな死んだ。しかし、イスラエルの人々の家畜は一頭も死ななかった。
9:6 And the LORD did that thing on the next day, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
9:7 パロは人をつかわして見させたが、イスラエルの家畜は一頭も死んでいなかった。それでもパロの心はかたくなで、民を去らせなかった。
9:7 And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
9:8 主はモーセとアロンに言われた、「あなたがたは、かまどのすすを両手いっぱい取り、それをモーセはパロの目の前で天にむかって、まき散らしなさい。
9:8 And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9:9 それはエジプトの全国にわたって、細かいちりとなり、エジプト全国で人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなるであろう」。
9:9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
9:10 そこで彼らは、かまどのすすを取ってパロの前に立ち、モーセは天にむかってこれをまき散らしたので、人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなった。
9:10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
9:11 魔術師らは、はれもののためにモーセの前に立つことができなかった。はれものが魔術師らと、すべてのエジプトびとに生じたからである。
9:11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
9:12 しかし、主はパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼は主がモーセに語られたように、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。
9:12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses.
9:13 主はまたモーセに言われた、「朝早く起き、パロの前に立って、彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
9:13 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
9:14 わたしは、こんどは、もろもろの災を、あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民にくだし、わたしに並ぶものが全地にないことを知らせるであろう。
9:14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon yours heart, and upon your servants, and upon your people; that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.
9:15 わたしがもし、手をさし伸べ、疫病をもって、あなたと、あなたの民を打っていたならば、あなたは地から断ち滅ぼされていたであろう。
9:15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may strike you and your people with pestilence; and you shall be cut off from the earth.
9:16 しかし、わたしがあなたをながらえさせたのは、あなたにわたしの力を見させるため、そして、わたしの名が全地に宣べ伝えられるためにほかならない。
9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised you up, in order to show in you my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
9:17 それに、あなたはなお、わたしの民にむかって、おのれを高くし、彼らを去らせようとしない。
9:17 As yet exalt you yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?
9:18 ゆえに、あすの今ごろ、わたしは恐ろしく大きな雹を降らせるであろう。それはエジプトの国が始まった日から今まで、かつてなかったほどのものである。
9:18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
9:19 それゆえ、いま、人をやって、あなたの家畜と、あなたが野にもっているすべてのものを、のがれさせなさい。人も獣も、すべて野にあって家に帰らないものは降る雹に打たれて死ぬであろう」と』」。
9:19 Send therefore now, and gather your cattle, and all that you have in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
9:20 パロの家来のうち、主の言葉をおそれる者は、そのしもべと家畜を家にのがれさせたが、
9:20 He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
9:21 主の言葉を意にとめないものは、そのしもべと家畜を野に残しておいた。
9:21 And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.
9:22 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたの手を天にむかってさし伸べ、エジプトの全国にわたって、エジプトの地にいる人と獣と畑のすべての青物の上に雹を降らせなさい」。
9:22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth yours hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
9:23 モーセが天にむかってつえをさし伸べると、主は雷と雹をおくられ、火は地にむかって、はせ下った。こうして主は、雹をエジプトの地に降らされた。
9:23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
9:24 そして雹が降り、雹の間に火がひらめき渡った。雹は恐ろしく大きく、エジプト全国には、国をなしてこのかた、かつてないものであった。
9:24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
9:25 雹はエジプト全国にわたって、すべて畑にいる人と獣を打った。雹はまた畑のすべての青物を打ち、野のもろもろの木を折り砕いた。
9:25 And the hail stroke throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail stroke every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
9:26 ただイスラエルの人々のいたゴセンの地には、雹が降らなかった。
9:26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
9:27 そこで、パロは人をつかわし、モーセとアロンを召して言った、「わたしはこんどは罪を犯した。主は正しく、わたしと、わたしの民は悪い。
9:27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
9:28 主に祈願してください。この雷と雹はもうじゅうぶんです。わたしはあなたがたを去らせます。もはやとどまらなくてもよろしい」。
9:28 Implore the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and all of you shall stay no longer.
9:29 モーセは彼に言った、「わたしは町を出ると、すぐ、主にむかってわたしの手を伸べひろげます。すると雷はやみ、雹はもはや降らなくなり、あなたは、地が主のものであることを知られましょう。
9:29 And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know how that the earth is the LORD's.
9:30 しかし、あなたとあなたの家来たちは、なお、神なる主を恐れないことを、わたしは知っています」。
9:30 But as for you and your servants, I know that all of you will not yet fear the LORD God.
9:31 ――亜麻と大麦は打ち倒された。大麦は穂を出し、亜麻は花が咲いていたからである。
9:31 And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bud.
9:32 小麦とスペルタ麦はおくてであるため打ち倒されなかった。――
9:32 But the wheat and the spelt were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
9:33 モーセはパロのもとを去り、町を出て、主にむかって手を伸べひろげたので、雷と雹はやみ、雨は地に降らなくなった。
9:33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
9:34 ところがパロは雨と雹と雷がやんだのを見て、またも罪を犯し、心をかたくなにした。彼も家来も、そうであった。
9:34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
9:35 すなわちパロは心をかたくなにし、主がモーセによって語られたように、イスラエルの人々を去らせなかった。
9:35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.
10:1 そこで、主はモーセに言われた、「パロのもとに行きなさい。わたしは彼の心とその家来たちの心をかたくなにした。これは、わたしがこれらのしるしを、彼らの中に行うためである。
10:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these my signs before him:
10:2 また、わたしがエジプトびとをあしらったこと、また彼らの中にわたしが行ったしるしを、あなたがたが、子や孫の耳に語り伝えるためである。そしてあなたがたは、わたしが主であることを知るであろう」。
10:2 And that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that all of you may know how that I am the LORD.
10:3 モーセとアロンはパロのもとに行って彼に言った、「ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、『いつまで、あなたは、わたしに屈伏することを拒むのですか。民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。
10:3 And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
10:4 もし、わたしの民を去らせることを拒むならば、見よ、あす、わたしはいなごを、あなたの領土にはいらせるであろう。
10:4 Else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow will I bring the locusts into your coast:
10:5 それは地のおもてをおおい、人が地を見ることもできないほどになるであろう。そして雹を免れて、残されているものを食い尽し、野にはえているあなたがたの木をみな食い尽すであろう。
10:5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remains unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field:
10:6 またそれはあなたの家とあなたのすべての家来の家、および、すべてのエジプトびとの家に満ちるであろう。このようなことは、あなたの父たちも、また、祖父たちも、彼らが地上にあった日から今日に至るまで、かつて見たことのないものである』と」。そして彼は身をめぐらして、パロのもとを出て行った。
10:6 And they shall fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither your fathers, nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
10:7 パロの家来たちは王に言った、「いつまで、この人はわれわれのわなとなるのでしょう。この人々を去らせ、彼らの神なる主に仕えさせては、どうでしょう。エジプトが滅びてしまうことに、まだ気づかれないのですか」。
10:7 And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: know you not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
10:8 そこで、モーセとアロンは、また、パロのもとに召し出された。パロは彼らに言った、「行って、あなたがたの神、主に仕えなさい。しかし、行くものはだれだれか」。
10:8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?
10:9 モーセは言った、「わたしたちは幼い者も、老いた者も行きます。むすこも娘も携え、羊も牛も連れて行きます。わたしたちは主の祭を執り行わなければならないのですから」。
10:9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.
10:10 パロは彼らに言った、「万一、わたしが、あなたがたに子供を連れてまで去らせるようなことがあれば、主があなたがたと共にいますがよい。あなたがたは悪いたくらみをしている。
10:10 And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.

10:11 Not so: go now all of you that are men, and serve the LORD; for that all of you did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.

10:12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out yours hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left.
10:13 そこでモーセはエジプトの地の上に、つえをさし伸べたので、主は終日、終夜、東風を地に吹かせられた。朝となって、東風は、いなごを運んできた。
10:13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
10:14 いなごはエジプト全国にのぞみ、エジプトの全領土にとどまり、その数がはなはだ多く、このようないなごは前にもなく、また後にもないであろう。
10:14 And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
10:15 いなごは地の全面をおおったので、地は暗くなった。そして地のすべての青物と、雹の打ち残した木の実を、ことごとく食べたので、エジプト全国にわたって、木にも畑の青物にも、緑の物とては何も残らなかった。
10:15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
10:16 そこで、パロは、急いでモーセとアロンを召して言った、「わたしは、あなたがたの神、主に対し、また、あなたがたに対して罪を犯しました。
10:16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.
10:17 それで、どうか、もう一度だけ、わたしの罪をゆるしてください。そしてあなたがたの神、主に祈願して、ただ、この死をわたしから離れさせてください」。
10:17 Now therefore forgive, I pray you, my sin only this once, and implore the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
10:18 そこで彼はパロのところから出て、主に祈願したので、
10:18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and implored the LORD.
10:19 主は、はなはだ強い西風に変らせ、いなごを吹き上げて、これを紅海に追いやられたので、エジプト全土には一つのいなごも残らなかった。
10:19 And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
10:20 しかし、主がパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼はイスラエルの人々を去らせなかった。
10:20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
10:21 主はまたモーセに言われた、「天にむかってあなたの手をさし伸べ、エジプトの国に、くらやみをこさせなさい。そのくらやみは、さわれるほどである」。
10:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out yours hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
10:22 モーセが天にむかって手をさし伸べたので、濃いくらやみは、エジプト全国に臨み三日に及んだ。
10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
10:23 三日の間、人々は互に見ることもできず、まただれもその所から立つ者もなかった。しかし、イスラエルの人々には、みな、その住む所に光があった。
10:23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
10:24 そこでパロはモーセを召して言った、「あなたがたは行って主に仕えなさい。あなたがたの子供も連れて行ってもよろしい。ただ、あなたがたの羊と牛は残して置きなさい」。
10:24 And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go all of you, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
10:25 しかし、モーセは言った、「あなたは、また、わたしたちの神、主にささげる犠牲と燔祭の物をも、わたしたちにくださらなければなりません。
10:25 And Moses said, You must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
10:26 わたしたちは家畜も連れて行きます。ひずめ一つも残しません。わたしたちは、そのうちから取って、わたしたちの神、主に仕えねばなりません。またわたしたちは、その場所に行くまでは、何をもって、主に仕えるべきかを知らないからです」。
10:26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
10:27 けれども、主がパロの心をかたくなにされたので、パロは彼らを去らせようとしなかった。
10:27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.
10:28 それでパロはモーセに言った、「わたしの所から去りなさい。心して、わたしの顔は二度と見てはならない。わたしの顔を見る日には、あなたの命はないであろう」。
10:28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get you from me, take heed to yourself, see my face no more; for in that day you see my face you shall die.
10:29 モーセは言った、「よくぞ仰せられました。わたしは、二度と、あなたの顔を見ないでしょう」。
10:29 And Moses said, You have spoken well, I will see your face again no more.
11:1 主はモーセに言われた、「わたしは、なお一つの災を、パロとエジプトの上にくだし、その後、彼はあなたがたをここから去らせるであろう。彼が去らせるとき、彼はあなたがたを、ことごとくここから追い出すであろう。
11:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go behind: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out behind altogether.
11:2 あなたは民の耳に語って、男は隣の男から、女は隣の女から、それぞれ銀の飾り、金の飾りを請い求めさせなさい」。
11:2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.
11:3 主は民にエジプトびとの好意を得させられた。またモーセその人は、エジプトの国で、パロの家来たちの目と民の目とに、はなはだ大いなるものと見えた。
11:3 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
11:4 モーセは言った、「主はこう仰せられる、『真夜中ごろ、わたしはエジプトの中へ出て行くであろう。
11:4 And Moses said, Thus says the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
11:5 エジプトの国のうちのういごは、位に座するパロのういごをはじめ、ひきうすの後にいる、はしためのういごに至るまで、みな死に、また家畜のういごもみな死ぬであろう。
11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sits upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 そしてエジプト全国に大いなる叫びが起るであろう。このようなことはかつてなく、また、ふたたびないであろう』と。
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 しかし、すべて、イスラエルの人々にむかっては、人にむかっても、獣にむかっても、犬さえその舌を鳴らさないであろう。これによって主がエジプトびととイスラエルびととの間の区別をされるのを、あなたがたは知るであろう。
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that all of you may know how that the LORD does put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
11:8 これらのあなたの家来たちは、みな、わたしのもとに下ってきて、ひれ伏して言うであろう、『あなたもあなたに従う民もみな出て行ってください』と。その後、わたしは出て行きます」。彼は激しく怒ってパロのもとから出て行った。
11:8 And all these your servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get you out, and all the people that follow you: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
11:9 主はモーセに言われた、「パロはあなたがたの言うことを聞かないであろう。それゆえ、わたしはエジプトの国に不思議を増し加えるであろう」。
11:9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
11:10 モーセとアロンは、すべてこれらの不思議をパロの前に行ったが、主がパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼はイスラエルの人々をその国から去らせなかった。
11:10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
12:1 主はエジプトの国で、モーセとアロンに告げて言われた、
12:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,
12:2 「この月をあなたがたの初めの月とし、これを年の正月としなさい。
12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
12:3 あなたがたはイスラエルの全会衆に言いなさい、『この月の十日におのおの、その父の家ごとに小羊を取らなければならない。すなわち、一家族に小羊一頭を取らなければならない。
12:3 Speak all of you unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
12:4 もし家族が少なくて一頭の小羊を食べきれないときは、家のすぐ隣の人と共に、人数に従って一頭を取り、おのおの食べるところに応じて、小羊を見計らわなければならない。
12:4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
12:5 小羊は傷のないもので、一歳の雄でなければならない。羊またはやぎのうちから、これを取らなければならない。
12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: all of you shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
12:6 そしてこの月の十四日まで、これを守って置き、イスラエルの会衆はみな、夕暮にこれをほふり、
12:6 And all of you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
12:7 その血を取り、小羊を食する家の入口の二つの柱と、かもいにそれを塗らなければならない。
12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
12:8 そしてその夜、その肉を火に焼いて食べ、種入れぬパンと苦菜を添えて食べなければならない。
12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
12:9 生でも、水で煮ても、食べてはならない。火に焼いて、その頭を足と内臓と共に食べなければならない。
12:9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the inwards thereof.
12:10 朝までそれを残しておいてはならない。朝まで残るものは火で焼きつくさなければならない。
12:10 And all of you shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remains of it until the morning all of you shall burn with fire.
12:11 あなたがたは、こうして、それを食べなければならない。すなわち腰を引きからげ、足にくつをはき、手につえを取って、急いでそれを食べなければならない。これは主の過越である。
12:11 And thus shall all of you eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and all of you shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.
12:12 その夜わたしはエジプトの国を巡って、エジプトの国におる人と獣との、すべてのういごを打ち、またエジプトのすべての神々に審判を行うであろう。わたしは主である。
12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
12:13 その血はあなたがたのおる家々で、あなたがたのために、しるしとなり、わたしはその血を見て、あなたがたの所を過ぎ越すであろう。わたしがエジプトの国を撃つ時、災が臨んで、あなたがたを滅ぼすことはないであろう。
12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where all of you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
12:14 この日はあなたがたに記念となり、あなたがたは主の祭としてこれを守り、代々、永久の定めとしてこれを守らなければならない。
12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and all of you shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; all of you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
12:15 七日の間あなたがたは種入れぬパンを食べなければならない。その初めの日に家からパン種を取り除かなければならない。第一日から第七日までに、種を入れたパンを食べる人はみなイスラエルから断たれるであろう。
12:15 Seven days shall all of you eat unleavened bread; even the first day all of you shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
12:16 かつ、あなたがたは第一日に聖会を、また第七日に聖会を開かなければならない。これらの日には、なんの仕事もしてはならない。ただ、おのおのの食べものだけは作ることができる。
12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
12:17 あなたがたは、種入れぬパンの祭を守らなければならない。ちょうど、この日、わたしがあなたがたの軍勢をエジプトの国から導き出したからである。それゆえ、あなたがたは代々、永久の定めとして、その日を守らなければならない。
12:17 And all of you shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this very same day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall all of you observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
12:18 正月に、その月の十四日の夕方に、あなたがたは種入れぬパンを食べ、その月の二十一日の夕方まで続けなければならない。
12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, all of you shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
12:19 七日の間、家にパン種を置いてはならない。種を入れたものを食べる者は、寄留の他国人であれ、国に生れた者であれ、すべて、イスラエルの会衆から断たれるであろう。
12:19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eats that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
12:20 あなたがたは種を入れたものは何も食べてはならない。すべてあなたがたのすまいにおいて種入れぬパンを食べなければならない』」。
12:20 All of you shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall all of you eat unleavened bread.
12:21 そこでモーセはイスラエルの長老をみな呼び寄せて言った、「あなたがたは急いで家族ごとに一つの小羊を取り、その過越の獣をほふらなければならない。
12:21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
12:22 また一束のヒソプを取って鉢の血に浸し、鉢の血を、かもいと入口の二つの柱につけなければならない。朝まであなたがたは、ひとりも家の戸の外に出てはならない。
12:22 And all of you shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
12:23 主が行き巡ってエジプトびとを撃たれるとき、かもいと入口の二つの柱にある血を見て、主はその入口を過ぎ越し、滅ぼす者が、あなたがたの家にはいって、撃つのを許されないであろう。
12:23 For the LORD will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to strike you.
12:24 あなたがたはこの事を、あなたと子孫のための定めとして、永久に守らなければならない。
12:24 And all of you shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons for ever.
12:25 あなたがたは、主が約束されたように、あなたがたに賜る地に至るとき、この儀式を守らなければならない。
12:25 And it shall come to pass, when all of you be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he has promised, that all of you shall keep this service.
12:26 もし、あなたがたの子供たちが『この儀式はどんな意味ですか』と問うならば、
12:26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean all of you by this service?
12:27 あなたがたは言いなさい、『これは主の過越の犠牲である。エジプトびとを撃たれたとき、エジプトにいたイスラエルの人々の家を過ぎ越して、われわれの家を救われたのである』」。民はこのとき、伏して礼拝した。
12:27 That all of you shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he stroke the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
12:28 イスラエルの人々は行ってそのようにした。すなわち主がモーセとアロンに命じられたようにした。
12:28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
12:29 夜中になって主はエジプトの国の、すべてのういご、すなわち位に座するパロのういごから、地下のひとやにおる捕虜のういごにいたるまで、また、すべての家畜のういごを撃たれた。
12:29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD stroke all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
12:30 それでパロとその家来およびエジプトびとはみな夜のうちに起きあがり、エジプトに大いなる叫びがあった。死人のない家がなかったからである。
12:30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
12:31 そこでパロは夜のうちにモーセとアロンを呼び寄せて言った、「あなたがたとイスラエルの人々は立って、わたしの民の中から出て行くがよい。そしてあなたがたの言うように、行って主に仕えなさい。
12:31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both all of you and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as all of you have said.
12:32 あなたがたの言うように羊と牛とを取って行きなさい。また、わたしを祝福しなさい」。
12:32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as all of you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
12:33 こうしてエジプトびとは民をせき立てて、すみやかに国を去らせようとした。彼らは「われわれはみな死ぬ」と思ったからである。
12:33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.
12:34 民はまだパン種を入れない練り粉を、こばちのまま着物に包んで肩に負った。
12:34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.
12:35 そしてイスラエルの人々はモーセの言葉のようにして、エジプトびとから銀の飾り、金の飾り、また衣服を請い求めた。
12:35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
12:36 主は民にエジプトびとの情を得させ、彼らの請い求めたものを与えさせられた。こうして彼らはエジプトびとのものを奪い取った。
12:36 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
12:37 さて、イスラエルの人々はラメセスを出立してスコテに向かった。女と子供を除いて徒歩の男子は約六十万人であった。
12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
12:38 また多くの入り混じった群衆および羊、牛など非常に多くの家畜も彼らと共に上った。
12:38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
12:39 そして彼らはエジプトから携えて出た練り粉をもって、種入れぬパンの菓子を焼いた。まだパン種を入れていなかったからである。それは彼らがエジプトから追い出されて滞ることができず、また、何の食料をも整えていなかったからである。
12:39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.
12:40 イスラエルの人々がエジプトに住んでいた間は、四百三十年であった。
12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
12:41 四百三十年の終りとなって、ちょうどその日に、主の全軍はエジプトの国を出た。
12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the very same day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.
12:42 これは彼らをエジプトの国から導き出すために主が寝ずの番をされた夜であった。ゆえにこの夜、すべてのイスラエルの人々は代々、主のために寝ずの番をしなければならない。
12:42 It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
12:43 主はモーセとアロンとに言われた、「過越の祭の定めは次のとおりである。すなわち、異邦人はだれもこれを食べてはならない。
12:43 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:
12:44 しかし、おのおのが金で買ったしもべは、これに割礼を行ってのち、これを食べさせることができる。
12:44 But every man's servant that is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
12:45 仮ずまいの者と、雇人とは、これを食べてはならない。
12:45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof.
12:46 ひとつの家でこれを食べなければならない。その肉を少しも家の外に持ち出してはならない。また、その骨を折ってはならない。
12:46 In one house shall it be eaten; you shall not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall all of you break a bone thereof.
12:47 イスラエルの全会衆はこれを守らなければならない。
12:47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.
12:48 寄留の外国人があなたのもとにとどまっていて、主に過越の祭を守ろうとするときは、その男子はみな割礼を受けてのち、近づいてこれを守ることができる。そうすれば彼は国に生れた者のようになるであろう。しかし、無割礼の者はだれもこれを食べてはならない。
12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with you, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
12:49 この律法は国に生れたものにも、あなたがたのうちに寄留している外国人にも同一である」。
12:49 One law shall be to him that is native, and unto the stranger that sojourns among you.
12:50 イスラエルの人々は、みなこのようにし、主がモーセとアロンに命じられたようにした。
12:50 Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
12:51 ちょうどその日に、主はイスラエルの人々を、その軍団に従ってエジプトの国から導き出された。
12:51 And it came to pass the very same day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
13:1 主はモーセに言われた、
13:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
13:2 「イスラエルの人々のうちで、すべてのういご、すなわちすべて初めに胎を開いたものを、人であれ、獣であれ、みな、わたしのために聖別しなければならない。それはわたしのものである」。
13:2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
13:3 モーセは民に言った、「あなたがたは、エジプトから、奴隷の家から出るこの日を覚えなさい。主が強い手をもって、あなたがたをここから導き出されるからである。種を入れたパンを食べてはならない。
13:3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which all of you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
13:4 あなたがたはアビブの月のこの日に出るのである。
13:4 This day came all of you out in the month Abib.
13:5 主があなたに与えると、あなたの先祖たちに誓われたカナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとの地、乳と蜜との流れる地に、導き入れられる時、あなたはこの月にこの儀式を守らなければならない。
13:5 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he swore unto your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
13:6 七日のあいだ種入れぬパンを食べ、七日目には主に祭をしなければならない。
13:6 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.
13:7 種入れぬパンを七日のあいだ食べなければならない。種を入れたパンをあなたの所に置いてはならない。また、あなたの地区のどこでも、あなたの所にパン種を置いてはならない。
13:7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with you, neither shall there be leaven seen with you in all your quarters.
13:8 その日、あなたの子に告げて言いなさい、『これはわたしがエジプトから出るときに、主がわたしになされたことのためである』。
13:8 And you shall show your son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
13:9 そして、これを、手につけて、しるしとし、目の間に置いて記念とし、主の律法をあなたの口に置かなければならない。主が強い手をもって、あなたをエジプトから導き出されるからである。
13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto you upon yours hand, and for a memorial between yours eyes, that the LORD's law may be in your mouth: for with a strong hand has the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
13:10 それゆえ、あなたはこの定めを年々その期節に守らなければならない。
13:10 You shall therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
13:11 主があなたとあなたの先祖たちに誓われたように、あなたをカナンびとの地に導いて、それをあなたに賜わる時、
13:11 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore unto you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,
13:12 あなたは、すべて初めに胎を開いた者、およびあなたの家畜の産むういごは、ことごとく主にささげなければならない。すなわち、それらの男性のものは主に帰せしめなければならない。
13:12 That you shall set apart unto the LORD all that opens the womb, and every first born that comes of a beast which you have; the males shall be the LORD's.
13:13 また、すべて、ろばの、初めて胎を開いたものは、小羊をもって、あがなわなければならない。もし、あがなわないならば、その首を折らなければならない。あなたの子らのうち、すべて、男のういごは、あがなわなければならない。
13:13 And every first born of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among your children shall you redeem.
13:14 後になって、あなたの子が『これはどんな意味ですか』と問うならば、これに言わなければならない、『主が強い手をもって、われわれをエジプトから、奴隷の家から導き出された。
13:14 And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? that you shall say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
13:15 そのときパロが、かたくなで、われわれを去らせなかったため、主はエジプトの国のういごを、人のういごも家畜のういごも、ことごとく殺された。それゆえ、初めて胎を開く男性のものはみな、主に犠牲としてささげるが、わたしの子供のうちのういごは、すべてあがなうのである』。
13:15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
13:16 そして、これを手につけて、しるしとし、目の間に置いて覚えとしなければならない。主が強い手をもって、われわれをエジプトから導き出されたからである」。
13:16 And it shall be for a token upon yours hand, and for frontlets between yours eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.
13:17 さて、パロが民を去らせた時、ペリシテびとの国の道は近かったが、神は彼らをそれに導かれなかった。民が戦いを見れば悔いてエジプトに帰るであろうと、神は思われたからである。
13:17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest possibly the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
13:18 神は紅海に沿う荒野の道に、民を回らされた。イスラエルの人々は武装してエジプトの国を出て、上った。
13:18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
13:19 そのときモーセはヨセフの遺骸を携えていた。ヨセフが、「神は必ずあなたがたを顧みられるであろう。そのとき、あなたがたは、わたしの遺骸を携えて、ここから上って行かなければならない」と言って、イスラエルの人々に固く誓わせたからである。
13:19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had strictly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and all of you shall carry up my bones away behind with you.
13:20 こうして彼らは更にスコテから進んで、荒野の端にあるエタムに宿営した。
13:20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
13:21 主は彼らの前に行かれ、昼は雲の柱をもって彼らを導き、夜は火の柱をもって彼らを照し、昼も夜も彼らを進み行かせられた。
13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
13:22 昼は雲の柱、夜は火の柱が、民の前から離れなかった。
13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
14:1 主はモーセに言われた、
14:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
14:2 「イスラエルの人々に告げ、引き返して、ミグドルと海との間にあるピハヒロテの前、バアルゼポンの前に宿営させなさい。あなたがたはそれにむかって、海のかたわらに宿営しなければならない。
14:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and camp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, opposite to Baalzephon: before it shall all of you camp by the sea.
14:3 パロはイスラエルの人々について、『彼らはその地で迷っている。荒野は彼らを閉じ込めてしまった』と言うであろう。
14:3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness has shut them in.
14:4 わたしがパロの心をかたくなにするから、パロは彼らのあとを追うであろう。わたしはパロとそのすべての軍勢を破って誉を得、エジプトびとにわたしが主であることを知らせるであろう」。彼らはそのようにした。
14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
14:5 民の逃げ去ったことが、エジプトの王に伝えられたので、パロとその家来たちとは、民に対する考えを変えて言った、「われわれはなぜこのようにイスラエルを去らせて、われわれに仕えさせないようにしたのであろう」。
14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
14:6 それでパロは戦車を整え、みずからその民を率い、
14:6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
14:7 また、えり抜きの戦車六百と、エジプトのすべての戦車およびすべての指揮者たちを率いた。
14:7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
14:8 主がエジプトの王パロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼はイスラエルの人々のあとを追った。イスラエルの人々は意気揚々と出たのである。
14:8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
14:9 エジプトびとは彼らのあとを追い、パロのすべての馬と戦車およびその騎兵と軍勢とは、バアルゼポンの前にあるピハヒロテのあたりで、海のかたわらに宿営している彼らに追いついた。
14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
14:10 パロが近寄った時、イスラエルの人々は目を上げてエジプトびとが彼らのあとに進んできているのを見て、非常に恐れた。そしてイスラエルの人々は主にむかって叫び、
14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
14:11 かつモーセに言った、「エジプトに墓がないので、荒野で死なせるために、わたしたちを携え出したのですか。なぜわたしたちをエジプトから導き出して、こんなにするのですか。
14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore have you dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
14:12 わたしたちがエジプトであなたに告げて、『わたしたちを捨てておいて、エジプトびとに仕えさせてください』と言ったのは、このことではありませんか。荒野で死ぬよりもエジプトびとに仕える方が、わたしたちにはよかったのです」。
14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
14:13 モーセは民に言った、「あなたがたは恐れてはならない。かたく立って、主がきょう、あなたがたのためになされる救を見なさい。きょう、あなたがたはエジプトびとを見るが、もはや永久に、二度と彼らを見ないであろう。
14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear all of you not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom all of you have seen to day, all of you shall see them again no more for ever.
14:14 主があなたがたのために戦われるから、あなたがたは黙していなさい」。
14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and all of you shall hold your peace.
14:15 主はモーセに言われた、「あなたは、なぜわたしにむかって叫ぶのか。イスラエルの人々に語って彼らを進み行かせなさい。
14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore cry you unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
14:16 あなたはつえを上げ、手を海の上にさし伸べてそれを分け、イスラエルの人々に海の中のかわいた地を行かせなさい。
14:16 But lift you up your rod, and stretch out yours hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
14:17 わたしがエジプトびとの心をかたくなにするから、彼らはそのあとを追ってはいるであろう。こうしてわたしはパロとそのすべての軍勢および戦車と騎兵とを打ち破って誉を得よう。
14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
14:18 わたしがパロとその戦車とその騎兵とを打ち破って誉を得るとき、エジプトびとはわたしが主であることを知るであろう」。
14:18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have got me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
14:19 このとき、イスラエルの部隊の前に行く神の使は移って彼らのうしろに行った。雲の柱も彼らの前から移って彼らのうしろに立ち、
14:19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
14:20 エジプトびとの部隊とイスラエルびとの部隊との間にきたので、そこに雲とやみがあり夜もすがら、かれとこれと近づくことなく、夜がすぎた。
14:20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
14:21 モーセが手を海の上にさし伸べたので、主は夜もすがら強い東風をもって海を退かせ、海を陸地とされ、水は分かれた。
14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
14:22 イスラエルの人々は海の中のかわいた地を行ったが、水は彼らの右と左に、かきとなった。
14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
14:23 エジプトびとは追ってきて、パロのすべての馬と戦車と騎兵とは、彼らのあとについて海の中にはいった。
14:23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
14:24 暁の更に、主は火と雲の柱のうちからエジプトびとの軍勢を見おろして、エジプトびとの軍勢を乱し、
14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
14:25 その戦車の輪をきしらせて、進むのに重くされたので、エジプトびとは言った、「われわれはイスラエルを離れて逃げよう。主が彼らのためにエジプトびとと戦う」。
14:25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drove them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.
14:26 そのとき主はモーセに言われた、「あなたの手を海の上にさし伸べて、水をエジプトびとと、その戦車と騎兵との上に流れ返らせなさい」。
14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out yours hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
14:27 モーセが手を海の上にさし伸べると、夜明けになって海はいつもの流れに返り、エジプトびとはこれにむかって逃げたが、主はエジプトびとを海の中に投げ込まれた。
14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
14:28 水は流れ返り、イスラエルのあとを追って海にはいった戦車と騎兵およびパロのすべての軍勢をおおい、ひとりも残らなかった。
14:28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
14:29 しかし、イスラエルの人々は海の中のかわいた地を行ったが、水は彼らの右と左に、かきとなった。
14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
14:30 このように、主はこの日イスラエルをエジプトびとの手から救われた。イスラエルはエジプトびとが海べに死んでいるのを見た。
14:30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
14:31 イスラエルはまた、主がエジプトびとに行われた大いなるみわざを見た。それで民は主を恐れ、主とそのしもべモーセとを信じた。
14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.
