11:1 Then all Israel came together to David at Hebron, and said, Truly, we are your bone
and your flesh.
11:1 Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold,
we are your bone and your flesh.

11:2 In the past, when Saul was king, it was you who went at the head of Israel when
they went out or came in; and the Lord your God said to you, You are to be the keeper
of my people Israel, and their ruler.
11:2 And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, you were he that
led out and brought in Israel: and the LORD your God said unto you, You shall
feed my people Israel, and you shall be ruler over my people Israel.

11:3 So all the responsible men of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and David made
an agreement with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they put the holy oil on David
and made him king over Israel, as the Lord had said by Samuel.
11:3 Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David
made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David
king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

11:4 Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (which is Jebus); and the Jebusites,
the people of the land, were there.
11:4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the
Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

11:5 And the people of Jebus said to David, You will not come in here. But still, David
took the strong place of Zion, which is the town of David.
11:5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, You shall not come here.
Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.

11:6 And David said, The first to overcome the Jebusites will be chief and captain. And
Joab, the son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became chief.
11:6 And David said, Whosoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief
and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
11:7 ´ÙÀÀÌ ±× »ê¼º¿¡ °ÅÇÑ °í·Î ¹«¸®°¡ ´ÙÀ ¼ºÀ̶ó ÀÏÄþúÀ¸¸ç
11:7 And David took the strong tower for his living-place, so it was named the town of
David.
11:7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of
David.

11:8 And he took in hand the building of the town all round, starting from the Millo;
and Joab put the rest of the town in order.
11:8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and
Joab repaired the rest of the city.
11:9 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼ ÇÔ²² °è½Ã´Ï ´ÙÀÀÌ Á¡Á¡ °¼ºÇÏ¿© °¡´Ï¶ó
11:9 And David became greater and greater in power, because the Lord of armies was with
him.
11:9 So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.

11:10 Now these are the chief of David's men of war who were his strong supporters in
the kingdom, and, with all Israel, made him king, as the Lord had said about Israel.
11:10 These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened
themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according
to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

11:11 This is the list of David's men of war: Ishbaal, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief
of the three: he put to death three hundred at one time with his spear.
11:11 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam,
an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three
hundred slain by him at the same.

11:12 And after him was Eleazar, the son of Dodo the Ahohite, who was one of the three
great fighters.

11:13 He was with David at Pas-dammim, where the Philistines had come together for the
fight, near a bit of land full of barley; and the people went in flight before the
Philistines.
11:13 He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered
together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people
fled from before the Philistines.

11:14 And he took up his position in the middle of the bit of land, and kept back their
attack, and overcame the Philistines; and the Lord gave a great salvation.
11:14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered
it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.

11:15 And three of the thirty went down to David, to the rock, into the strong place of
Adullam; and the army of the Philistines had taken up their position in the valley
of Rephaim.
11:15 Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into
the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley
of Rephaim.
11:16 ±× ¶§¿¡ ´ÙÀÀº »ê¼º¿¡ ÀÖ°í ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿µÃ¤´Â º£µé·¹Çð¿¡ ÀÖ´ÂÁö¶ó
11:16 At that time David had taken cover in the strong place, and an armed force of the
Philistines was in Beth-lehem.
11:16 And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines' garrison was then
at Bethlehem.

11:17 And David, moved by a strong desire, said, If only someone would give me a drink
of the water from the water-hole of Beth-lehem by the doorway into the town!
11:17 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the
water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

11:18 So the three, forcing a way through the Philistine army, got water from the water-hole
of Beth-lehem, by the doorway into the town, and took it back to David; but David
would not take it, but made an offering of it, draining it out to the Lord,
11:18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water
out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought
it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD.

11:19 Saying, By my God, far be it from me to do this! How may I take as drink the life-blood
of these men who have put their lives in danger? so he did not take it. These things
did the three great men of war.
11:19 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I
drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with
the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it.
These things did these three might.

11:20 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the thirty, for he put to death three
hundred with his spear, but he had not a name among the three.
11:20 And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting
up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.

11:21 Of the thirty, he was the noblest, and was made their captain, but he was not equal
to the first three.

11:22 Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, a fighting-man of Kabzeel, had done great acts; he
put to death two young lions going into their secret place; and he went down into
a hole and put a lion to death in time of snow.
11:22 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who
had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and
slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.

11:23 And he made an attack on an Egyptian, a very tall man about five cubits high, armed
with a spear like a cloth-worker's rod; he went down to him with a stick, and pulling
his spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, put him to death with that same spear.
11:23 And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high;
and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down
to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew
him with his own spear.

put him over his servants.

purpose of making David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were united
in their desire to make David king.

12:40 And those who were near, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came with
food on asses and camels and mules and oxen, with meal for food and cakes of figs
and masses of grapes, and wine and oil and oxen and sheep in great numbers, for
there was joy in Israel.
12:40 Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and

13:2 And David said to all the men of Israel who had come together there, If it seems
good to you and if it is the purpose of the Lord our God, let us send to all the
rest of our brothers, everywhere in the land of Israel, and to the priests and the
Levites in their towns and the country round them, and get them to come together
here to us;
13:2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good
unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren
every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to
the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may
gather themselves unto us:

13:5 So David sent for all Israel to come together, from Shihor, the river of Egypt,
as far as the way into Hamath, to get the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
13:5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto
the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

13:6 And David went up, with all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim in Judah,
to get up from there the ark of God, over which the holy Name is named, the name
of the Lord whose place is between the winged ones.
13:6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim,
which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwells
between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

and corded instruments of music, and with brass instruments and horns.

with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with
cymbals, and with trumpets.

13:9 And when they came to the grain-floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to keep the
ark in its place, for the oxen were slipping.
13:9 And when they came unto the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth
his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

13:11 And David was angry because of the Lord's outburst of wrath against Uzza, and he
gave that place the name Perez-uzza, to this day.

wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.

13:13 So David did not let the ark come back to him to the town of David, but had it turned
away and put into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
13:13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David,
but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

sent a blessing on the house of Obed-edom and on all he had.

14:1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars,
with stone workers and carpenters, to build him an house.

14:2 And David saw that the Lord had made his position safe as king over Israel, lifting
up his kingdom on high because of his people Israel.
14:2 And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel,
for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

14:3 And while he was living in Jerusalem, David took more wives and became the father
of more sons and daughters.

14:8 And when the Philistines had news that David had been made king over all Israel,
they went up in search of David, and David, hearing of it, went out against them.
14:8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all
Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and
went out against them.

14:9 Now the Philistines had come, and had gone out in every direction in the valley
of Rephaim.

14:10 And David, desiring directions from God, said, Am I to go up against the Philistines?
and will you give them into my hands? And the Lord said, Go up; for I will give
them into your hands.
14:10 And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines?
And will you deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up;
for I will deliver them into yours hand.

14:11 So they went up to Baal-perazim, and David overcame them there, and David said,
God has let the forces fighting against me be broken by my hand, as a wall is broken
down by rushing water; so they gave that place the name of Baal-perazim.
14:11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and David stroke them there. Then David
said, God has broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking out
of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.

14:12 And the Philistines did not take their images with them in their flight; and at
David's orders they were burned with fire.
14:12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment,
and they were burned with fire.

14:13 Then the Philistines again went out in every direction in the valley.
14:13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

14:14 And David went for directions to God; and God said to him, You are not to go up
after them; but, turning away from them, come face to face with them opposite the
spice-trees.
14:14 Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not
up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry
trees.

14:15 And at the sound of footsteps in the tops of the trees, go out to the fight, for
God has gone out before you to overcome the army of the Philistines.
14:15 And it shall be, when you shall hear a sound of going in the tops of
the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle: for God is gone forth
before you to strike the host of the Philistines.

14:16 And David did as the Lord had said; and they overcame the army of the Philistines,
attacking them from Gibeon as far as Gezer.
14:16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they stroke the host
of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

14:17 And David's name was honoured in all lands; and the Lord put the fear of him on
all nations.
14:17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought
the fear of him upon all nations.

15:1 And David made houses for himself in the town of David; and he got ready a place
for the ark of God, and put up a tent for it.

15:2 Then David said, The ark of God may not be moved by any but the Levites, for they
have been marked out by God to take the ark of God, and to do his work for ever.

holy, you and your brothers, so that you may take the ark of the Lord, the God of
Israel, to the place which I have made ready for it.

15:13 For because you did not take it at the first, the Lord our God sent punishment on
us, because we did not get directions from him in the right way.

15:14 So the priests and the Levites made themselves holy to take up the ark of the Lord,
the God of Israel.

in position, with instruments of music, corded instruments and brass, with glad
voices making sounds of joy.

to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals,
sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

the daughter of Saul, looking out of the window, saw King David dancing and playing;
and to her mind he seemed foolish.
15:29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to

saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

up for it; and they made offerings, burned offerings and peace-offerings before
God.

before God.

16:3 And he gave to everyone, every man and woman of Israel, a cake of bread, some meat,
and a cake of dry grapes.

16:9 Let your voice be sounded in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder

of the LORD remains under curtains.

from keeping sheep, so that you might be a ruler over my people Israel;
17:7 Now therefore thus shall you say unto my servant David, Thus says the
LORD of hosts, I took you from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep,
that you should be ruler over my people Israel:

the great men that are in the earth.

who are against you; and I will make you great and the head of a line of kings.

17:13 I will be to him a father and he will be to me a son; and I will not take my mercy
away from him as I took it from him who was before you;

17:15 So Nathan gave David an account of all these words and this vision.
17:15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so
did Nathan speak unto David.

17:17 And this was only a small thing to you, O God; but your words have even been about
the far-off future of your servant's family, looking on me as on one of high position,
O Lord God.
17:17 And yet this was a small thing in yours eyes, O God; for you have also
spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come, and have regarded
me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

take for himself, to be his people, making his name great and to be feared, driving
out the nations from before your people whom you made free and took out of Egypt?
17:21 And what one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God
went to redeem to be his own people, to make you a name of greatness and terribleness,
by driving out nations from before your people whom you have redeemed out of
Egypt?

Lord of armies is the God of Israel; and when the family of David your servant is
made strong before you.
17:24 Let it even be established, that your name may be magnified for ever,
saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let
the house of David your servant be established before you.

so that it may go on for ever before you; you, O Lord, have given your blessing,
and a blessing will be on it for ever.
17:27 Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant,
that it may be before you for ever: for you bless, O LORD, and it shall be blessed
for ever.

subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

18:2 And he overcame Moab, and the Moabites became his servants and gave him offerings.
18:2 And he stroke Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought
gifts.

18:3 Then David overcame Hadadezer, king of Zobah, near Hamath, when he was going to
make his power seen by the river Euphrates.

establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

18:4 And David took from him a thousand war-carriages and seven thousand horsemen and
twenty thousand footmen: and he had the leg-muscles of all the horses cut, keeping
only enough of them for a hundred war-carriages.
18:4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen,
and twenty thousand footmen: David also cut the hamstrings of all the chariot
horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

18:5 And when the Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer, king of Zobah,
David put to the sword twenty-two thousand Aramaeans.
18:5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah,
David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
18:6 ´Ù¸Þ¼½ ¾Æ¶÷¿¡ ¼öºñ´ë¸¦ µÎ¸Å ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ´ÙÀÀÇ Á¾ÀÌ µÇ¾î Á¶°øÀ» ¹ÙÄ¡´Ï¶ó

18:6 Then David put armed forces in Damascus, and the Aramaeans became his servants and
gave him offerings. And the Lord made David overcome wherever he went.
18:6 Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David's
servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.

18:7 And the gold body-covers of the servants of Hadadezer, David took to Jerusalem.
18:7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer,
and brought them to Jerusalem.
18:8 ¶Ç ÇÏ´å¿¡¼¿ÀÇ ¼ºÀ¾ µðºêÇÖ°ú ±º¿¡¼ ½ÉÈ÷ ¸¹Àº ³òÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿´´õ´Ï ¼Ö·Î¸óÀÌ

18:8 And from Tibhath and from Cun, towns of Hadadezer, David took a great store of brass,
of which Solomon made the great brass water-vessel and the brass pillars and vessels.
18:8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David
very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and
the vessels of brass.

18:9 Now when Tou, king of Hamath, had news that David had overcome all the army of Hadadezer,
king of Zobah,

18:10 He sent his son Hadoram to King David, to give him words of peace and blessing,
because he had overcome Hadadezer in the fight, for Hadadezer had been at war with
Tou; and he gave him all sorts of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
18:10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and
to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him;
(for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold
and silver and brass.

18:11 These King David made holy to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had
taken from all nations; from Edom and Moab and from the children of Ammon and from
the Philistines and from Amalek.
18:11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the
gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from
the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

in the Valley of Salt,
18:12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley
of salt eighteen thousand.

18:13 David put armed forces in all the towns of Edom; and all the Edomites became servants
to David. The Lord made David overcome wherever he went.
18:13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants.
Thus the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.
18:14 ¡Û ´ÙÀÀÌ ¿Â À̽º¶ó¿¤À» ´Ù½º·Á ¸ðµç ¹é¼º¿¡°Ô °ø°ú ÀǸ¦ ÇàÇÒ»õ
18:14 So David was king over all Israel, judging and giving right decisions for all his
people.

19:1 Now it came about after this that death came to Nahash, the king of the children
of Ammon, and his son became king in his place.

was a friend to me. So David sent men to him, to give him words of comfort on account
of his father. And the servants of David came to Hanun, to the land of the children
of Ammon, offering him comfort.

his father showed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning
his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon

19:3 But the chiefs of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Does it seem to you that
David is honouring your father, by sending comforters to you? is it not clear that
these men have only come to go through the land and to make secret observation of
it so that they may overcome it?
19:3 But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Think you that
David does honour your father, that he has sent comforters unto you? are not
his servants come unto you in order to search, and to overthrow, and to spy
out the land?
19:4 ÇÏ´«ÀÌ ÀÌ¿¡ ´ÙÀÀÇ ½Åº¹µéÀ» Àâ¾Æ ±× ¼ö¿°À» ±ð°í ±× ÀǺ¹ÀÇ Áßµ¿ º¼±â±îÁö

19:4 So Hanun took David's servants, and cutting off their hair and the skirts of their
robes up to the middle, sent them away.
19:4 Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off
their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.

19:5 Then certain men went and gave David word of what had been done to them. And he
sent out with the purpose of meeting them; for the men were greatly shamed. And
the king said, Keep where you are at Jericho till your hair is long again, and then
come back.
19:5 Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And
he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry
at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

19:6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves hated by David,
Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver as payment for
war-carriages and horsemen from Mesopotamia and Aram-maacah and Zobah.
19:6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves abhorrent
to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver
to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syriamaachah,
and out of Zobah.
19:7 °ð º´°Å »ï¸¸ ÀÌõ ½Â°ú ¸¶¾Æ°¡ ¿Õ°ú ±× ¹é¼ºÀ» »é ³»¾ú´õ´Ï ÀúÈñ°¡ ¿Í¼
¸Þµå¹Ù ¾Õ¿¡ Áø Ä¡¸Å ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ±× ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾À¸·Î ÁÀ¾Æ ¸ð¿© ¿Í¼ ½Î¿ì·Á ÇÑÁö¶ó
19:7 So with this money they got thirty-two thousand war-carriages, and the help of the
king of Maacah and his people, who came and took up their position in front of Medeba.
And the children of Ammon came together from their towns for the fight.
19:7 So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah
and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon
gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
19:8 ´ÙÀÀÌ µè°í ¿ä¾Ð°ú ¿ë»çÀÇ ¿Â ¹«¸®¸¦ º¸³»¾ú´õ´Ï
19:8 And David, hearing of it, sent Joab with all the army of fighting-men.
19:8 And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty
men.
19:9 ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀº ³ª¿Í¼ ¼º¹® ¾Õ¿¡ Áø Ä¡°í µµ¿ì·¯ ¿Â ¿©·¯ ¿ÕÀº µû·Î µé¿¡ ÀÖ´õ¶ó
19:9 So the children of Ammon came out and put their forces in position on the way into
the town; and the kings who had come were stationed by themselves in the field.
19:9 And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before
the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the
field.
19:10 ¡Û ¿ä¾ÐÀÌ ¾Õ µÚ¿¡ Ä£ ÀûÁøÀ» º¸°í À̽º¶ó¿¤ »« ÀÚ Áß¿¡¼ ¶Ç »©¼ ¾Æ¶÷

19:10 Now when Joab saw that their forces were in position against him in front and at
his back, he took all the best men of Israel, and put them in line against the Aramaeans;
19:10 Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind,
he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the
Syrians.
19:11 ±× ³²Àº ¹«¸®´Â ±× ¾Æ¿ì ¾Æºñ»õÀÇ ¼öÇÏ¿¡ ºÙ¿© ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀ» ´ëÇÏ¿© Áø Ä¡°Ô

19:11 And the rest of the people he put in position against the children of Ammon with
Abishai, his brother, at their head.
19:11 And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his
brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
19:12 °¡·ÎµÇ ¸¸ÀÏ ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ³ªº¸´Ù °ÇÏ¸é ³×°¡ ³ª¸¦ µ½°í ¸¸ÀÏ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ
³Êº¸´Ù °ÇÏ¸é ³»°¡ ³Ê¸¦ µµ¿ì¸®¶ó
19:12 And he said, If the Aramaeans are stronger and get the better of me, then come to
my help; and if the children of Ammon get the better of you, I will come to your
help.
19:12 And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help
me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will help you.
19:13 ³Ê´Â ´ã´ëÇ϶ó ¿ì¸®°¡ ¿ì¸® ¹é¼º°ú ¿ì¸® Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¼ºÀ¾µéÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ´ã´ëÈ÷
ÇÏÀÚ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼ ¼±È÷ ¿©±â½Ã´Â ´ë·Î ÇàÇϽñ⸦ ¿øÇϳë¶ó ÇÏ°í
19:13 Take heart, and let us be strong for our people and for the towns of our God; and
may the Lord do what seems good to him.
19:13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people,
and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his
sight.

19:14 So Joab and the people who were with him went forward into the fight against the
Aramaeans, and they went in flight before him.
19:14 So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians
unto the battle; and they fled before him.
19:15 ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀº ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÇ µµ¸ÁÇÔÀ» º¸°í ÀúÈñµµ ¿ä¾ÐÀÇ ¾Æ¿ì ¾Æºñ»õ ¾Õ¿¡¼
µµ¸ÁÇÏ¿© ¼ºÀ¸·Î µé¾î°£Áö¶ó ÀÌ¿¡ ¿ä¾ÐÀÌ ¿¹·ç»ì·½À¸·Î µ¹¾Æ¿À´Ï¶ó
19:15 And when the children of Ammon saw the flight of the Aramaeans, they themselves
went in flight from Abishai, his brother, and came into the town. Then Joab came
back to Jerusalem.
19:15 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they
likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab
came to Jerusalem.
19:16 ¡Û ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ÀڱⰡ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¾Õ¿¡¼ ÆÐÇÏ¿´À½À» º¸°í »çÀÚ¸¦ º¸³»¾î
° °Ç³ÊÆí¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷À» ºÒ·¯³»´Ï ÇÏ´å¿¡¼¿ÀÇ ±º´ë Àå°ü ¼Ò¹ÚÀÌ ÀúÈñ¸¦ °Å´À¸°Áö¶ó
19:16 And when the Aramaeans saw that Israel had overcome them, they sent men to get the
Aramaeans who were on the other side of the River, with Shophach, the captain of
Hadadezer's army, at their head.
19:16 And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel,
they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river:
and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
19:17 ȤÀÌ ´ÙÀ¿¡°Ô °íÇϸŠ´ÙÀÀÌ ¿Â À̽º¶ó¿¤À» ¸ðÀ¸°í ¿ä´ÜÀ» °Ç³Ê ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô
À̸£·¯ ÀúÈñ¸¦ ÇâÇÏ¿© ÁøÀ» Ä¡´Ï¶ó ´ÙÀÀÌ ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷À» ÇâÇÏ¿© ÁøÀ» Ä¡¸Å ÀúÈñ°¡
´ÙÀÀ¸·Î ´õºÒ¾î ½Î¿ì´õ´Ï
19:17 And word of this was given to David; and he got all Israel together and went over
Jordan and came to Helam and put his forces in position against them. And when David's
forces were in position against the Aramaeans, the fight was started.
19:17 And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over
Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when
David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
19:18 ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¾Õ¿¡¼ µµ¸ÁÇÑÁö¶ó ´ÙÀÀÌ ¾Æ¶÷ º´°Å ĥõ ½ÂÀÇ ±º»ç¿Í
º¸º´ »ç¸¸À» Á×ÀÌ°í ¶Ç ±º´ë Àå°ü ¼Ò¹ÚÀ» Á×À̸Å
19:18 And the Aramaeans went in flight before Israel; and David put to the sword the men
of seven thousand Aramaean war-carriages and forty thousand footmen, and put to
death Shophach, the captain of the army.
19:18 But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven
thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed
Shophach the captain of the host.
19:19 ÇÏ´å¿¡¼¿ÀÇ ½Åº¹ÀÌ ÀڱⰡ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¾Õ¿¡¼ ÆÐÇÏ¿´À½À» º¸°í ´ÙÀÀ¸·Î ´õºÒ¾î
ÈÄ£ÇÏ¿© ¼¶±â°í ÀÌ Èķδ ¾Æ¶÷ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼Õ µ½±â¸¦ ½È¾îÇϴ϶ó
19:19 And when the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were overcome by Israel, they made
peace with David and became his servants: and the Aramaeans would give no more help
to the children of Ammon.
19:19 And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse
before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither
would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.
20:1 ÇØ°¡ µ¹¾Æ¿Í¼ ¿ÕµéÀÇ ÃâÀüÇÒ ¶§°¡ µÇ¸Å ¿ä¾ÐÀÌ ±× ±º´ë¸¦ °Å´À¸®°í ³ª°¡¼
¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¶¥À» ÈÑÆÄÇÏ°í °¡¼ ¶ø¹Ù¸¦ ¿¡¿ö½Î°í ´ÙÀÀº ¿¹·ç»ì·½¿¡ ±×´ë·Î ÀÖ´õ´Ï
¿ä¾ÐÀÌ ¶ø¹Ù¸¦ Ãļ ÇÔ¶ô½ÃÅ°¸Å
20:1 Now in the spring, at the time when kings go out to war, Joab went out at the head
of the armed forces and made waste all the land of the Ammonites and put his men
in position before Rabbah, shutting it in. But David was still at Jerusalem. And
Joab took Rabbah and made it waste.
20:1 And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that
kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the
country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried
at Jerusalem. And Joab stroke Rabbah, and destroyed it.
20:2 ´ÙÀÀÌ ±× ¿ÕÀÇ ¸Ó¸®¿¡¼ º¸¼® ÀÖ´Â ¸é·ù°üÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿© ´Þ¾Æº¸´Ï Áß·®ÀÌ ±Ý
ÇÑ ´Þ¶õÆ®¶ó ±× ¸é·ù°üÀ» Àڱ⠸Ӹ®¿¡ ¾²´Ï¶ó ´ÙÀÀÌ ¶Ç ±× ¼º¿¡¼ ³ë·«ÇÑ ¹°°ÇÀ»

20:2 And David took the crown of Milcom from off his head; its weight was a talent of
gold and it had stones of great price in it; and it was put on David's head, and
he took a great store of goods from the town.
20:2 And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found
it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was
set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.
20:3 ±× °¡¿îµ¥ ¹é¼ºÀ» ²ø¾î³»¾î ÅéÁú°ú ½á·¹Áú°ú µµ³¢ÁúÀ» ÇÏ°Ô Çϴ϶ó ´ÙÀÀÌ
¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾À» ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ÇÏ°í ¸ðµç ¹é¼º°ú ÇÔ²² ¿¹·ç»ì·½À¸·Î µ¹¾Æ¿À´Ï¶ó
20:3 And he took the people out of the town and put them to work with wood-cutting instruments,
and iron grain-crushers, and axes. And this he did to all the towns of the children
of Ammon. Then David and all the people went back to Jerusalem.
20:3 And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws,
and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities
of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
20:4 ¡Û ÀÌ ÈÄ¿¡ ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷°ú °Ô¼¿¿¡¼ ÀüÀïÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ÈÄ»ç »ç¶÷ ½Êºê°³°¡ Àå´ëÇÑ
ÀÚÀÇ ¾Æµé Áß¿¡ ½Ê¹è¸¦ ÃÄÁ×À̸ŠÀúÈñ°¡ Ç׺¹ÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
20:4 Now after this there was war with the Philistines at Gezer; then Sibbecai the Hushathite
put to death Sippai, one of the offspring of the Rephaim; and they were overcome.
20:4 And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the
Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of
the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
20:5 ´Ù½Ã ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷°ú ÀüÀïÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ¾ßÀÏÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿¤ÇϳÀÌ °¡µå »ç¶÷ °ñ¸®¾ÑÀÇ

20:5 And again there was war with the Philistines; and Elhanan, the son of Jair, put
to death Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the stem of whose spear was
like a cloth-worker's rod.
20:5 And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of
Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like
a weaver's beam.
20:6 ¶Ç °¡µå¿¡¼ ÀüÀïÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ±× °÷¿¡ Å° Å« ÀÚ Çϳª´Â ¸Å ¼Õ°ú ¸Å ¹ß¿¡ °¡¶ôÀÌ
¿©¼¸¾¿ ¸ðµÎ ½º¹° ³ÝÀÌ Àִµ¥ Àúµµ Àå´ëÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ¼Ò»ýÀ̶ó
20:6 And again there was war at Gath, where there was a very tall man, who had twenty-four
fingers and toes, six fingers on his hands and six toes on his feet; he was one
of the offspring of the Rephaim.
20:6 And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature,
whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each
foot and he also was the son of the giant.
20:7 Àú°¡ À̽º¶ó¿¤À» ´É¿åÇÏ´Â °í·Î ´ÙÀÀÇ Çü ½Ã¹Ç¾ÆÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿ä³ª´ÜÀÌ Àú¸¦ Á×À̴϶ó
20:7 And when he put shame on Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimea, David's brother, put
him to death.
20:7 But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother
slew him.
20:8 °¡µå Àå´ëÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ¼Ò»ýÀÌ¶óµµ ´ÙÀÀÇ ¼Õ°ú ±× ½Åº¹ÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ´Ù Á×¾ú´õ¶ó
20:8 These were of the offspring of the Rephaim in Gath; they came to their death by
the hands of David and his servants.
20:8 These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of
David, and by the hand of his servants.
