1:1 Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.
1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:2 We give praise to God at all times for you, keeping you in memory in our prayers;
1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

1:3 ³ÊÈñÀÇ ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ ¿ª»ç¿Í »ç¶ûÀÇ ¼ö°í¿Í ¿ì¸® ÁÖ ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµ¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ¼Ò¸ÁÀÇ Àγ»¸¦ ¿ì¸® Çϳª´Ô ¾Æ¹öÁö ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ½¬Áö ¾Ê°í ±â¾ïÇÔÀÌ´Ï
1:3 Having ever in mind your work of faith and acts of love and the strength of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;
1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, (o. agape) and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

1:4 Çϳª´ÔÀÇ »ç¶ûÇϽÉÀ» ¹ÞÀº ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ÅÃÇϽÉÀ» ¾Æ³ë¶ó
1:4 Being conscious, my brothers, dear to God, that you have been marked out by God's purpose;
1:4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

1:5 ÀÌ´Â ¿ì¸® º¹À½ÀÌ ¸»·Î¸¸ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô À̸¥ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿ÀÁ÷ ´É·Â°ú ¼º·É°ú Å« È®½ÅÀ¸·Î µÈ °ÍÀÌ´Ï ¿ì¸®°¡ ³ÊÈñ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ¾î¶°ÇÑ »ç¶÷ÀÌ µÈ °ÍÀº ³ÊÈñ ¾Æ´Â ¹Ù¿Í °°À¸´Ï¶ó
1:5 Because our good news came to you, not in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Spirit, so that you were completely certain of it; even as you saw what our behaviour to you was like from our love to you.
1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word (o. logos) only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) and in much assurance; as all of you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

1:6 And you took us and the Lord as your example, after the word had come to you in much trouble, with joy in the Holy Spirit;
1:6 And all of you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word (o. logos) in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)

1:7 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¸¶°Ôµµ³Ä¿Í ¾Æ°¡¾ß ¸ðµç ¹Ï´Â ÀÚÀÇ º»ÀÌ µÇ¾ú´ÂÁö¶ó
1:7 So that you became an example to all those who have faith in Christ in Macedonia and Achaia.
1:7 So that all of you were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

1:8 ÁÖÀÇ ¸»¾¸ÀÌ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô·ÎºÎÅÍ ¸¶°Ôµµ³Ä¿Í ¾Æ°¡¾ß¿¡¸¸ µé¸± »Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó Çϳª´ÔÀ» ÇâÇÏ´Â ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ ¼Ò¹®ÀÌ °¢Ã³¿¡ ÆÛÁö¹Ç·Î ¿ì¸®´Â ¾Æ¹« ¸»µµ ÇÒ °ÍÀÌ ¾ø³ë¶ó
1:8 For not only was the word of the Lord sounding out from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God is made clear; so that we have no need to say anything.
1:8 For from you sounded out the word (o. logos) of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

1:9 For they themselves give the news of how we came among you; and how you were turned from images to God, to the worship of a true and living God,
1:9 For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how all of you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

1:10 Waiting for his Son from heaven, who came back from the dead, even Jesus, our Saviour from the wrath to come.
1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

2:1 ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ¿ì¸®°¡ ³ÊÈñ °¡¿îµ¥ µé¾î°¨ÀÌ ÇêµÇÁö ¾ÊÀº ÁÙÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ Ä£È÷ ¾Æ³ª´Ï
2:1 For you yourselves, brothers, are conscious that our coming among you was not without effect:
2:1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

2:2 ³ÊÈñ ¾Æ´Â ¹Ù¿Í °°ÀÌ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¸ÕÀú ºô¸³º¸¿¡¼­ °í³­°ú ´É¿åÀ» ´çÇÏ¿´À¸³ª ¿ì¸® Çϳª´ÔÀ» ÈûÀÔ¾î ¸¹Àº ½Î¿ò Áß¿¡ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ º¹À½À» ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ¸»ÇÏ¿´³ë¶ó
2:2 But after we had first undergone much pain and been cruelly attacked as you saw, at Philippi, by the help of God we gave you the good news without fear, though everything was against us.
2:2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully pleaded, as all of you know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

2:3 ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ±Ç¸éÀº °£»ç¿¡¼­³ª ºÎÁ¤¿¡¼­ ³­ °Íµµ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä ±Ë°è¿¡ ÀÖ´Â °Íµµ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó
2:3 For our witness does not come from error or from an unclean heart or from deceit:
2:3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

2:4 ¿ÀÁ÷ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¿Ç°Ô ¿©±â½ÉÀ» ÀÔ¾î º¹À½ ÀüÇÒ ºÎŹÀ» ¹Þ¾ÒÀ¸´Ï ¿ì¸®°¡ ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ ¸»ÇÔÀº »ç¶÷À» ±â»Ú°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä ¿ÀÁ÷ ¿ì¸® ¸¶À½À» °¨ÂûÇϽô Çϳª´ÔÀ» ±â»Ú½Ã°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó
2:4 But even as the good news was given to us by the approval of God, so we give it out; not as pleasing men, but God by whom our hearts are tested.
2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which tries our hearts.

2:5 ³ÊÈñµµ ¾Ë°Å´Ï¿Í ¿ì¸®°¡ ¾Æ¹« ¶§¿¡µµ ¾Æ÷ÀÇ ¸»À̳ª Ž½ÉÀÇ Å»À» ¾²Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÑ °ÍÀ» Çϳª´ÔÀÌ Áõ°ÅÇϽôÀ´Ï¶ó
2:5 For it is common knowledge among you that we never made use of smooth-sounding false words, and God is witness that at no time were we secretly desiring profit for ourselves,
2:5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, (o. logos) as all of you know, nor a coat of covetousness; God is witness:

2:6 ¿ì¸®°¡ ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ »çµµ·Î ´ÉÈ÷ Á¸ÁßÇÒ ÅÍÀ̳ª ±×·¯³ª ³ÊÈñ¿¡°ÔµçÁö ´Ù¸¥ ÀÌ¿¡°ÔµçÁö »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô´Â ¿µ±¤À» ±¸Ä¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í
2:6 Or looking for glory from men, from you or from others, when we might have made ourselves a care to you as Apostles of Christ.
2:6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

2:7 ¿ÀÁ÷ ¿ì¸®°¡ ³ÊÈñ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ À¯¼øÇÑ ÀÚ µÇ¾î À¯¸ð°¡ ÀÚ±â Àڳฦ ±â¸§°ú °°ÀÌ ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï
2:7 But we were gentle among you, like a woman caring for her little ones:
2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherishes her children:

2:8 ¿ì¸®°¡ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ »ç¸ðÇÏ¿© Çϳª´ÔÀÇ º¹À½À¸·Î¸¸ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿ì¸® ¸ñ¼û±îÁö ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô Áֱ⸦ Áñ°ÜÇÔÀº ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚ µÊÀ̴϶ó
2:8 Even so, being full of loving desire for you, we took delight in giving you not only God's good news, but even our lives, because you were dear to us.
2:8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because all of you were dear unto us.

2:9 ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¼ö°í¿Í ¾Ö¾´ °ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±â¾ïÇϸ®´Ï ³ÊÈñ ¾Æ¹«¿¡°Ôµµ ´©¸¦ ³¢Ä¡Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ·Á°í ¹ã°ú ³·À¸·Î ÀÏÇϸ鼭 ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô Çϳª´ÔÀÇ º¹À½À» ÀüÆÄÇÏ¿´³ë¶ó
2:9 For you have the memory, my brothers, of our trouble and care; how, working night and day, so that we might not be a trouble to any of you, we gave you the good news of God.
2:9 For all of you remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

2:10 ¿ì¸®°¡ ³ÊÈñ ¹Ï´Â ÀÚµéÀ» ÇâÇÏ¿© ¾î¶»°Ô °Å·èÇÏ°í ¿Ç°í Èì ¾øÀÌ ÇàÇÑ °Í¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÁõÀÎÀÌ¿ä Çϳª´Ôµµ ±×·¯ÇϽõµ´Ù
2:10 You are witnesses, with God, how holy and upright and free from all evil was our way of life among you who have faith;
2:10 All of you are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

2:11 ³ÊÈñµµ ¾Æ´Â ¹Ù¿Í °°ÀÌ ¿ì¸®°¡ ³ÊÈñ °¢ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¾Æºñ°¡ ÀÚ±â Àڳ࿡°Ô ÇÏµí ±Ç¸éÇÏ°í À§·ÎÇÏ°í °æ°èÇϳë´Ï
2:11 Even as you saw how, like a father with his children, we were teaching and comforting you all, and giving witness,
2:11 As all of you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father does his children,

2:12 ÀÌ´Â ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ºÎ¸£»ç Àڱ⠳ª¶ó¿Í ¿µ±¤¿¡ À̸£°Ô ÇϽô Çϳª´Ô²² ÇÕ´çÈ÷ ÇàÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̴϶ó
2:12 So that your lives might be pleasing to God, who has given you a part in his kingdom and his glory.
2:12 That all of you would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his kingdom and glory.

2:13 ¡Û ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ Çϳª´Ô²² ½¬Áö ¾Ê°í °¨»çÇÔÀº ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô µéÀº ¹Ù Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¸»¾¸À» ¹ÞÀ» ¶§¿¡ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¸»·Î ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¸»¾¸À¸·Î ¹ÞÀ½ÀÌ´Ï Áø½Ç·Î ±×·¯ÇÏ´Ù ÀÌ ¸»¾¸ÀÌ ¶ÇÇÑ ³ÊÈñ ¹Ï´Â ÀÚ ¼Ó¿¡¼­ ¿ª»çÇÏ´À´Ï¶ó
2:13 And for this cause we still give praise to God, that, when the word came to your ears through us, you took it, not as the word of man, but, as it truly is, the word of God, which has living power in you who have faith.
2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when all of you received the word (o. logos) of God which all of you heard of us, all of you received it not as the word (o. logos) of men, but as it is in truth, the word (o. logos) of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.

2:14 ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼ö ¾È¿¡¼­ À¯´ë¿¡ ÀÖ´Â Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ±³È¸µéÀ» º»¹ÞÀº ÀÚ µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï ÀúÈñ°¡ À¯´ëÀε鿡°Ô °í³­À» ¹ÞÀ½°ú °°ÀÌ ³ÊÈñµµ ³ÊÈñ ³ª¶ó »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô µ¿ÀÏÇÑ °ÍÀ» ¹Þ¾Ò´À´Ï¶ó
2:14 For you, my brothers, took as your examples the churches of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; because you underwent the same things from your countrymen as they did from the Jews;
2:14 For all of you, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for all of you also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

2:15 À¯´ëÀÎÀº ÁÖ ¿¹¼ö¿Í ¼±ÁöÀÚµéÀ» Á×ÀÌ°í ¿ì¸®¸¦ ÂѾƳ»°í Çϳª´ÔÀ» ±â»Ú½Ã°Ô ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¸ðµç »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ´ëÀûÀÌ µÇ¾î
2:15 Who put to death the Lord Jesus and the prophets, violently driving us out; who are unpleasing to God and against all men;
2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

2:16 ¿ì¸®°¡ À̹æÀο¡°Ô ¸»ÇÏ¿© ±¸¿ø ¾ò°Ô ÇÔÀ» ÀúÈñ°¡ ±ÝÇÏ¿© ÀÚ±â Á˸¦ Ç×»ó ä¿ì¸Å ³ëÇϽÉÀÌ ³¡±îÁö ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÓÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó
2:16 Who, to make the measure of their sins complete, kept us from giving the word of salvation to the Gentiles: but the wrath of God is about to come on them in the fullest degree.
2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

2:17 But we, my brothers, being away from you for a short time, in body but not in heart, had all the more desire to see your face;
2:17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

2:18 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ³ª ¹Ù¿ïÀº ÇÑ ¹ø µÎ ¹ø ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô °¡°íÀÚ ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª »ç´ÜÀÌ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ¸·¾Òµµ´Ù
2:18 For which reason we made attempts to come to you, even I, Paul, once and again; but Satan kept us from coming.
2:18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

2:19 For what is our hope or joy or crown of glory? Are not even you, before our Lord Jesus, at his coming?
2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even all of you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

2:20 ³ÊÈñ´Â ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¿µ±¤ÀÌ¿ä ±â»ÝÀ̴϶ó
2:20 For you are our glory and our joy.
2:20 For all of you are our glory and joy.

3:1 ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ Âü´Ù ¸øÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸®¸¸ ¾Æµ§¿¡ ¸Ó¹°±â¸¦ ÁÁ°Ô ¿©°Ü
3:1 At last our desire to have news of you was so strong that, while we ourselves were waiting at Athens,
3:1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

3:2 ¿ì¸® ÇüÁ¦ °ð ±×¸®½ºµµ º¹À½ÀÇ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ÀϱºÀÎ µð¸ðµ¥¸¦ º¸³»³ë´Ï ÀÌ´Â ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ±»°Ô ÇÏ°í ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© À§·ÎÇÔÀ¸·Î
3:2 We sent Timothy, our brother and God's servant in the good news of Christ, to give you strength and comfort in your faith;
3:2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

3:3 ´©±¸µçÁö ÀÌ ¿©·¯ ȯ³­ Áß¿¡ ¿äµ¿Ä¡ ¾Ê°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó ¿ì¸®·Î ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ´çÇÏ°Ô ¼¼¿ì½Å ÁÙÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ Ä£È÷ ¾Ë¸®¶ó
3:3 So that no man might be moved by these troubles; because you see that these things are part of God's purpose for us.
3:3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

3:4 And when we were with you, we said to you that trouble was before us; and so it came about, as you see.
3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and all of you know.

3:5 ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ³ªµµ Âü´Ù ¸øÇÏ¿© ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½À» ¾Ë±â À§ÇÏ¿© º¸³»¾ú³ë´Ï À̴ Ȥ ½ÃÇèÇÏ´Â ÀÚ°¡ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ½ÃÇèÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸® ¼ö°í¸¦ ÇêµÇ°Ô ÇÒ±î ÇÔÀÏ·¯´Ï
3:5 For this reason, when I was no longer able to keep quiet, I sent to get news of your faith, fearing that you might be tested by the Evil One and that our work might come to nothing.
3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

3:6 But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has given us good news of your faith and love, and that you have happy memories of us, desiring greatly to see us, even as we do to see you;
3:6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love, (o. agape) and that all of you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

3:9 For how great is the praise which we give to God for you, and how great the joy with which we are glad because of you before our God;

3:12 And the Lord give you increase of love in fullest measure to one another and to all men, even as our love to you;

4:1 And last of all, the prayer which we make to you from our heart and in the name of the Lord Jesus, is this: that as we made clear to you what sort of behaviour is pleasing to God, as in fact you are doing now, so you will go on in these ways, but more and more.
4:1 Furthermore then we plead to you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as all of you have received of us how all of you ought to walk and to please God, so all of you would abound more and more.

4:3 For the purpose of God for you is this: that you may be holy, and may keep yourselves from the desires of the flesh;
4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that all of you should abstain from fornication:

4:4 So that every one of you may keep his body holy and in honour;

4:6 And that no man may make attempts to get the better of his brother in business: for the Lord is the judge in all these things, as we said to you before and gave witness.
4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

4:8 Whoever, then, goes against this word, goes against not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
4:8 He therefore that despises, despises not man, but God, who has also given unto us his holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)

4:9 But about loving the brothers, there is no need for me to say anything to you in this letter: for you have the teaching of God that love for one another is right and necessary;
4:9 But as concerning brotherly love all of you need not that I write unto you: for all of you yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

4:10 And, truly, you are lovers of all the brothers in Macedonia; but it is our desire that your love may be increased still more;
4:10 And indeed all of you do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we plead to you, brethren, that all of you increase more and more;

4:11 And that all of you study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

4:13 But it is our desire, brothers, that you may be certain about those who are sleeping; so that you may have no need for sorrow, as others have who are without hope.
4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that all of you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus underwent death and came back again, even so those who are sleeping will come again with him by God's power.
4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are still living at the coming of the Lord, will not go before those who are sleeping.
4:15 For this we say unto you by the word (o. logos) of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

4:17 Then we who are still living will be taken up together with them into the clouds to see the Lord in the air: and so will we be for ever with the Lord.
4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

5:1 But about the times and their order, my brothers, there is no need for me to say anything to you.
5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, all of you have no need that I write unto you.

5:2 For you yourselves have the knowledge that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

5:3 When they say, There is peace and no danger, then sudden destruction will come on them, as birth-pains on a woman with child; and they will not be able to get away from it.
5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

5:4 But you, my brothers, are not in the dark, for that day to overtake you like a thief:
5:4 But all of you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5:9 For God's purpose for us is not wrath, but salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
5:9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

5:12 But we make this request to you, my brothers: give attention to those who are working among you, who are over you in the Lord to keep order among you;
5:12 And we plead to you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

5:14 And our desire is that you will keep control over those whose lives are not well ordered, giving comfort to the feeble-hearted, supporting those with little strength, and putting up with much from all.
5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

1:5 Which is a clear sign of the decision which God in his righteousness has made; to give you a part in his kingdom, for which you have undergone this pain;
1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that all of you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which all of you also suffer:

1:6 For it is an act of righteousness on God's part to give trouble as their reward to those who are troubling you,

1:7 And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with the angels of his power in flames of fire,
1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

1:8 To give punishment to those who have no knowledge of God, and to those who do not give ear to the good news of our Lord Jesus:
1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

1:9 Whose reward will be eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,
1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

1:10 At his coming, when he will have glory in his saints, and will be a cause of wonder in all those who had faith (because our witness among you had effect) in that day.

1:11 For this reason, you are ever in our prayers, that you may seem to our God such as may have a part in his purpose and that by his power he will make all his good purpose, and the work of faith, complete;
1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

2:1 Now as to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and our meeting with him, it is our desire, my brothers,
2:1 Now we plead to you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2:2 That all of you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, (o. pneuma) nor by word, (o. logos) nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2:3 Give no belief to false words: because there will first be a falling away from the faith, and the revelation of the man of sin, the son of destruction,
2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2:4 Who puts himself against all authority, lifting himself up over all which is named God or is given worship; so that he takes his seat in the Temple of God, putting himself forward as God.
2:4 Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

2:5 ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖÀ» ¶§¿¡ ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ¸»ÇÑ °ÍÀ» ±â¾ïÇÏÁö ¸øÇÏ´À³Ä
2:5 Have you no memory of what I said when I was with you, giving you word of these things?
2:5 Remember all of you not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

2:6 And now it is clear to you what is keeping back his revelation till the time comes for him to be seen.
2:6 And now all of you know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time.

2:7 For the secret of evil is even now at work: but there is one who is keeping back the evil till he is taken out of the way.
2:7 For the mystery of iniquity does already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2:8 ±× ¶§¿¡ ºÒ¹ýÇÑ ÀÚ°¡ ³ªÅ¸³ª¸®´Ï ÁÖ ¿¹¼ö²²¼­ ±× ÀÔÀÇ ±â¿îÀ¸·Î Àú¸¦ Á×ÀÌ½Ã°í °­¸²ÇÏ¿© ³ªÅ¸³ª½ÉÀ¸·Î ÆóÇϽø®¶ó
2:8 And then will come the revelation of that evil one, whom the Lord Jesus will put to death with the breath of his mouth, and give to destruction by the revelation of his coming;
2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit (o. pneuma) of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2:9 Even the one whose coming is marked by the working of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2:10 ºÒÀÇÀÇ ¸ðµç ¼ÓÀÓÀ¸·Î ¸ê¸ÁÇÏ´Â Àڵ鿡°Ô ÀÓÇϸ®´Ï ÀÌ´Â ÀúÈñ°¡ Áø¸®ÀÇ »ç¶ûÀ» ¹ÞÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿© ±¸¿øÇÔÀ» ¾òÁö ¸øÇÔÀ̴϶ó
2:10 And with every deceit of wrongdoing among those whose fate is destruction; because they were quite without that love of the true faith by which they might have salvation.
2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love (o. agape) of the truth, that they might be saved.

2:13 But it is right for us to give praise to God at all times for you, brothers, loved by the Lord, because it was the purpose of God from the first that you might have salvation, being made holy by the Spirit and by faith in what is true:
2:13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit (o. pneuma) and belief of the truth:

3:1 For the rest, my brothers, let there be prayer for us that the word of the Lord may go forward with increasing glory, even as it does with you;
3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word (o. logos) of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

3:4 ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿©´Â ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¸íÇÑ °ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÇàÇÏ°í ¶Ç ÇàÇÒ ÁÙÀ» ¿ì¸®°¡ ÁÖ ¾È¿¡¼­ È®½ÅÇϳë´Ï
3:4 And we have faith in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things about which we give you orders.
3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that all of you both do and will do the things which we command you.

3:5 And may your hearts be guided by the Lord into the love of God and quiet waiting for Christ.
3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love (o. agape) of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

3:6 ¡Û ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ¿ì¸® ÁÖ ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ À̸§À¸·Î ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ¸íÇϳë´Ï ±Ô¸ð ¾øÀÌ ÇàÇÏ°í ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ¹ÞÀº À¯Àü´ë·Î ÇàÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Â ¸ðµç ÇüÁ¦¿¡°Ô¼­ ¶°³ª¶ó
3:6 Now we give you orders, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from all those whose behaviour is not well ordered and in harmony with the teaching which they had from us.
3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

3:7 For you yourselves are used to taking us as your example, because our life among you was ruled by order,

3:8 And we did not take food from any man for nothing, but were working hard night and day not to be a trouble to any of you:

3:9 Not because we have not the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, so that you might do the same.

3:10 For even when we were with you we gave you orders, saying, If any man does no work, let him not have food.
3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

3:11 For it has come to our ears that there are some among you whose behaviour is uncontrolled, who do no work at all, but are over-interested in the business of others.
3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

3:12 Now to such we give orders and make request in the Lord Jesus, that, working quietly, they get their living.
3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

3:13 And you, my brothers, do not get tired of well-doing.
3:13 But all of you, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

3:14 And if any man does not give attention to what we have said in this letter, take note of that man, and keep away from him, so that he may be shamed.

3:15 Have no feeling of hate for him, but take him in hand seriously as a brother.
