1:11 And the sons of Josiah were Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the taking
away to Babylon.

1:16 And the son of Jacob was Joseph the husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus, whose
name is Christ.

1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from
David to the taking away to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the taking away
to Babylon to the coming of Christ, fourteen generations.

1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way: when his mother Mary was going to
be married to Joseph, before they came together the discovery was made that she
was with child by the Holy Spirit.

1:20 But when he was giving thought to these things, an angel of the Lord came to him
in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, have no fear of taking Mary as your wife;
because that which is in her body is of the Holy Spirit.
1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD
appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to
take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy

1:21 And she will give birth to a son; and you will give him the name Jesus; for he will
give his people salvation from their sins.

1:22 Now all this took place so that the word of the Lord by the prophet might come true,

1:23 See, the virgin will be with child, and will give birth to a son, and they will
give him the name Immanuel, that is, God with us.

2:1 Now when the birth of Jesus took place in Beth-lehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod
the king, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the
king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2:2 Saying, Where is the King of the Jews whose birth has now taken place? We have seen
his star in the east and have come to give him worship.

2:4 And he got together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, questioning
them as to where the birth-place of the Christ would be.

together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

2:6 You Beth-lehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the chiefs of Judah:
out of you will come a ruler, who will be the keeper of my people Israel.
2:6 And you Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, are not the least among the princes
of Juda: for out of you shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

2:7 Then Herod sent for the wise men privately, and put questions to them about what
time the star had been seen.
2:7 Then Herod, when he had privately called the wise men, enquired of them
diligently what time the star appeared.

2:8 And he sent them to Beth-lehem and said, Go and make certain where the young child
is; and when you have seen him, let me have news of it, so that I may come and give
him worship.
2:8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for
the young child; and when all of you have found him, bring me word again, that
I may come and worship him also.

2:9 And after hearing the king, they went on their way; and the star which they saw
in the east went before them, till it came to rest over the place where the young
child was.
2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which
they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the
young child was.

2:10 And when they saw the star they were full of joy.

2:11 And they came into the house, and saw the young child with Mary, his mother; and
falling down on their faces they gave him worship; and from their store they gave
him offerings of gold, perfume, and spices.
2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with
Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened
their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
2:12 ²Þ¿¡ Çì·Ô¿¡°Ô·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡Áö ¸»¶ó Áö½ÃÇϽÉÀ» ¹Þ¾Æ ´Ù¸¥ ±æ·Î °í±¹¿¡ µ¹¾Æ°¡´Ï¶ó
2:12 And it was made clear to them by God in a dream that they were not to go back to
Herod; so they went into their country by another way.
2:12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod,
they departed into their own country another way.

2:13 And when they had gone, an angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream, saying,
Get up and take the young child and his mother, and go into Egypt, and do not go
from there till I give you word; for Herod will be searching for the young child
to put him to death.
2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appears to
Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and
flee into Egypt, and be you there until I bring you word: for Herod will seek
the young child to destroy him.

2:15 And was there till the death of Herod; so that the word of the Lord through the
prophet might come true, Out of Egypt have I sent for my son.
2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which

2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was very angry;
and he sent out, and put to death all the male children in Beth-lehem and in all
the parts round about it, from two years old and under, acting on the knowledge
which he had got with care from the wise men.
2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding
angry, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and
in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time
which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

2:17 Then the word of Jeremiah the prophet came true,

3:11 Truly, I give baptism with water to those of you whose hearts are changed; but he
who comes after me is greater than I, whose shoes I am not good enough to take up:
he will give you baptism with the Holy Spirit and with fire:

me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize

4:4 But he made answer and said, It is in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need,
but every word which comes out of the mouth of God.

4:6 If you are the Son of God, let yourself go down; for it is in the Writings, He will
give his angels care over you; and, In their hands they will keep you up, so that
your foot may not be crushed against a stone.

it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their
hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a
stone.

4:24 And news of him went out through all Syria; and they took to him all who were ill
with different diseases and pains, those having evil spirits and those who were
off their heads, and those who had no power of moving. And he made them well.

you are with him on the way, for fear that he may give you up to the judge and the
judge may give you to the police and you may be put into prison.
5:25 Agree with yours adversary quickly, while you are in the way with him;
lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver
you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

that your whole body should be cast into hell.

shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

8:10 And when these words came to the ears of Jesus he was surprised, and said to those
who came after him, Truly I say to you, I have not seen such great faith, no, not
in Israel.
8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily
I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

8:11 And I say to you that numbers will come from the east and the west, and will take
their seats with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:
8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and
shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

8:12 But the sons of the kingdom will be put out into the dark, and there will be weeping
and cries of pain.
8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

8:13 And Jesus said to the captain, Go in peace; as your faith is, so let it be done
to you. And the servant was made well in that hour.
8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go your way; and as you have believed,
so be it done unto you. And his servant was healed in the very same hour.

8:16 And in the evening, they took to him a number of people who had evil spirits; and
he sent the spirits out of them with a word, and made well all who were ill;
8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed
with devils: and he cast out the spirits (o. pneuma) with his word, (o. logos)
and healed all that were sick:

8:17 So that the word of Isaiah the prophet might come true: He himself took our pains
and our diseases.

8:19 And there came a scribe and said to him, Master, I will come after you wherever
you go.

8:20 And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have a resting-place;
but the Son of man has nowhere to put his head.

8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the
ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

8:25 And they came to him, and, awaking him, said, Help, Lord; destruction is near.

we perish.

8:26 And he said to them, Why are you full of fear, O you of little faith? Then he got
up and gave orders to the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
8:26 And he says unto them, Why are all of you fearful, O all of you of little
faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great
calm.

winds and the sea do his orders?

8:28 And when he had come to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, there came
out to him from the place of the dead, two who had evil spirits, so violent that
no man was able to go that way.
8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes,
there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding
fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

8:29 And they gave a loud cry, saying, What have we to do with you, you Son of God? Have
you come here to give us punishment before the time?
8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with you, Jesus,
you Son of God? are you come here to torment us before the time?

8:30 Now there was, some distance away, a great herd of pigs taking their food.
8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

8:31 And the evil spirits made strong prayers to him, saying, If you send us out, let
us go into the herd of pigs.
8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If you cast us out, suffer us to
go away into the herd of swine.

8:32 And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the pigs; and the herd
went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea and came to their end in the water.
8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into
the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a
steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

8:33 And their keepers went in flight to the town and gave an account of everything,
and of the men who had the evil spirits.
8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and
told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

8:34 And all the town came out to Jesus; and seeing him they made request that he would
go away from their part of the country.
8:34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw
him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

9:1 And he got into a boat and went across and came to his town.
9:1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

9:2 And they took to him a man stretched on a bed who had no power of moving; and Jesus,
seeing their faith, said to the man who was ill, Son, take heart; you have forgiveness
for your sins.
9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a
bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of
good cheer; your sins be forgiven you.

9:3 And some of the scribes said among themselves, This man has no respect for God.
9:3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man
blasphemes.

9:4 And Jesus, having knowledge of what was in their minds, said, Why are your thoughts
evil?
9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think all of you evil
in your hearts?

9:5 For which is the simpler, to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say,
Get up and go?
9:5 For whether is easier, to say, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say,
Arise, and walk?

9:6 But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness
of sins, (then said he to the man who was ill,) Get up, and take up your bed, and
go to your house.
9:6 But that all of you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to
forgive sins, (then says he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up your bed,
and go unto yours house.

9:7 And he got up and went away to his house.
9:7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

9:8 But when the people saw it they were full of fear, and gave glory to God who had
given such authority to men.
9:8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which
had given such power unto men.

9:9 And when Jesus was going from there, he saw a man whose name was Matthew, seated
at the place where taxes were taken; and he said to him, Come after me. And he got
up and went after him.
9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting
at the receipt of custom: and he says unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and
followed him.

9:10 And it came about, when he was in the house taking food, that a number of tax-farmers
and sinners came and took their places with Jesus and his disciples.
9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at food in the house, behold, many
publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Master
take food with tax-farmers and sinners?

9:12 But on hearing this he said, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but
those who are ill.
9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need
not a physician, but they that are sick.

9:13 But go and take to heart the sense of these words, My desire is for mercy, not offerings:
for I have come not to get the upright, but sinners.
9:13 But go all of you and learn what that means, I will have mercy, and
not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

9:14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees frequently
go without food, but your disciples do not?

fast often, but your disciples fast not?

9:15 And Jesus said to them, Will the friends of the newly-married man be sad as long
as he is with them? But the days will come when he will be taken away from them,
and then will they go without food.
9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber mourn,
as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom
shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

9:16 And no man puts a bit of new cloth on an old coat, for by pulling away from the
old, it makes a worse hole.
9:16 No man puts a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which
is put in to fill it up takes from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

9:17 And men do not put new wine into old wine-skins; or the skins will be burst and
the wine will come out, and the skins are of no more use: but they put new wine
into new wine-skins, and so the two will be safe.

9:18 While he was saying these things to them, there came a ruler and gave him worship,
saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and put your hand on her, and she
will come back to life.

lay your hand upon her, and she shall live.

9:33 And when the evil spirit had been sent out, the man had the power of talking: and
they were all surprised, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.

9:35 And Jesus went about all the towns and small places, teaching in their Synagogues
and preaching the good news of the kingdom and making well all sorts of disease
and pain.

10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out and gave them orders, saying, Do not go among the Gentiles,
or into any town of Samaria,

10:9 Take no gold or silver or copper in your pockets;
10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

10:10 Take no bag for your journey and do not take two coats or shoes or a stick: for
the workman has a right to his food.
10:10 Nor pouch for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet
staves: for the workman is worthy of his food.

10:11 And into whatever town or small place you go, make search there for someone who
is respected, and make his house your resting-place till you go away.

in it is worthy; and there abide till all of you go thence.

peace come back to you.

10:14 And whoever will not take you in, or give ear to your words, when you go out from
that house or that town, put off its dust from your feet.

when all of you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your
feet.

10:15 Truly I say to you, It will be better for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the
day of God's judging than for that town.

10:19 But when you are given up into their hands, do not be troubled about what to say
or how to say it: for in that hour what you are to say will be given to you;

10:21 And brother will give up brother to death, and the father his child: and children
will go against their fathers and mothers, and put them to death.

10:22 And you will be hated by all men because of my name: but he who is strong to the
end will have salvation.

that endures to the end shall be saved.

10:23 But when they are cruel to you in one town, go in flight to another: for truly,
I say to you, You will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son
of man comes.
10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee all of you into another:
for verily I say unto you, All of you shall not have gone over the cities of
Israel, till the Son of man be come.

10:24 A disciple is not greater than his master, or a servant than his lord.
