31:1 야곱이 들은즉 라반의 아들들의 말이 야곱이 우리 아버지의 소유를 다 빼앗고
우리 아버지의 소유로 인하여 이같이 거부가 되었다 하는지라
31:1 Now it came to the ears of Jacob that Laban's sons were saying, Jacob has taken
away all our father's property, and in this way he has got all this wealth.
31:1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away
all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's has he got all
this glory.
31:2 야곱이 라반의 안색을 본즉 자기에게 대하여 전과 같지 아니하더라
31:2 And Jacob saw that Laban's feeling for him was no longer what it had been before.
31:2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward
him as before.
31:3 여호와께서 야곱에게 이르시되 네 조상의 땅, 네 족속에게로 돌아가라 내가
너와 함께 있으리라 하신지라
31:3 Then the Lord said to Jacob, Go back to the land of your fathers, and to your relations,
and I will be with you.
31:3 And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of your fathers,
and to your kindred; and I will be with you.
31:4 야곱이 보내어 라헬과 레아를 자기 양 떼 있는 들로 불러다가
31:4 And Jacob sent for Rachel and Leah to come to him in the field among his flock.
31:4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,
31:5 그들에게 이르되 내가 그대들의 아버지의 안색을 본즉 내게 대하여 전과
같지 아니하도다 그러할지라도 내 아버지의 하나님은 나와 함께 계셨느니라
31:5 And he said to them, It is clear to me that your father's feeling is no longer what
it was to me; but the God of my father has been with me
31:5 And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not
toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.
31:6 그대들도 알거니와 내가 힘을 다하여 그대들의 아버지를 섬겼거늘
31:6 And you have seen how I have done all in my power for your father,
31:6 And all of you know that with all my power I have served your father.
31:7 그대들의 아버지가 나를 속여 품삯을 열 번이나 변역하였느니라 그러나 하나님이
그를 금하사 나를 해치 못하게 하셨으며
31:7 But your father has not kept faith with me, and ten times he has made changes in
my payment; but God has kept him from doing me damage.
31:7 And your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but
God suffered him not to hurt me.
31:8 그가 이르기를 점 있는 것이 네 삯이 되리라 하면 온 양 떼의 낳은 것이 점
있는 것이요 또 얼룩무늬 있는 것이 네 삯이 되리라 하면 온 양 떼의 낳은 것이 얼룩무늬
있는 것이니
31:8 If he said, All those in the flock which have marks are to be yours, then all the
flock gave birth to marked young; and if he said, All the banded ones are to be
yours, then all the flock had banded young.
31:8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be your wages; then all the cattle
bare speckled: and if he said thus, The striped with bands shall be your hire;
then bare all the cattle striped with bands.
31:9 하나님이 이같이 그대들의 아버지의 짐승을 빼앗아 내게 주셨느니라
31:9 So God has taken away your father's cattle and has given them to me.
31:9 Thus God has taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to
me.
31:10 그 양 떼가 새끼 밸 때에 내가 꿈에 눈을 들어 보니 양 떼를 탄 수양은 다
얼룩무늬 있는 것, 점 있는 것, 아롱진 것이었더라
31:10 And at the time when the flock were with young, I saw in a dream that all the he-goats
which were joined with the she-goats were banded and marked and coloured.
31:10 And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted
up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the
cattle were striped with bands, speckled, and greyed.
31:11 꿈에 하나님의 사자가 내게 말씀하시기를 야곱아 하기로 내가 대답하기를
여기 있나이다 하매
31:11 And in my dream the angel of the Lord said to me, Jacob: and I said, Here am I.
31:11 And the angel of God spoke unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I
said, Here am I.
31:12 가라사대 네 눈을 들어 보라 양 떼를 탄 수양은 다 얼룩무늬 있는 것, 점 있는
것,
아롱진 것이니라 라반이 네게 행한 모든 것을 내가 보았노라
31:12 And he said, See how all the he-goats are banded and marked and coloured: for I
have seen what Laban has done to you.
31:12 And he said, Lift up now yours eyes, and see, all the rams which leap
upon the cattle are striped with bands, speckled, and greyed: for I have seen
all that Laban does unto you.
31:13 나는 벧엘 하나님이라 네가 거기서 기둥에 기름을 붓고 거기서 내게 서원하였으니
지금 일어나 이곳을 떠나서 네 출생지로 돌아가라 하셨느니라
31:13 I am the God of Beth-el, where you put oil on the pillar and took an oath to me:
now then, come out of this land and go back to the country of your birth.
31:13 I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar, and where you
vowed a vow unto me: now arise, get you out from this land, and return unto
the land of your kindred.
31:14 라헬과 레아가 그에게 대답하여 가로되 우리가 우리 아버지 집에서 무슨
분깃이나 유업이나 있으리요
31:14 Then Rachel and Leah said to him in answer, What part or heritage is there for us
in our father's house?
31:14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion
or inheritance for us in our father's house?
31:15 아버지가 우리를 팔고 우리의 돈을 다 먹었으니 아버지가 우리를 외인으로
여기는 것이 아닌가
31:15 Are we not as people from a strange country to him? for he took a price for us and
now it is all used up.
31:15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he has sold us, and has quite
devoured also our money.
31:16 하나님이 우리 아버지에게서 취하신 재물은 우리와 우리 자식의 것이니
이제 하나님이 당신에게 이르신 일을 다 준행하라
31:16 For the wealth which God has taken from him is ours and our children's; so now,
whatever God has said to you, do.
31:16 For all the riches which God has taken from our father, that is ours,
and our children's: now then, whatsoever God has said unto you, do.
31:17 ○ 야곱이 일어나 자식들과 아내들을 약대들에게 태우고
31:17 Then Jacob put his wives and his sons on camels;
31:17 Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;
31:18 그 얻은 바 모든 짐승과 모든 소유물 곧 그가 밧단아람에서 얻은 짐승을
이끌고 가나안 땅에 있는 그 아비 이삭에게로 가려 할새
31:18 And sending on before him all his cattle and his property which he had got together
in Paddan-aram, he made ready to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.
31:18 And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had
got, the cattle of his getting, which he had got in Padanaram, in order to go
to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.
31:19 때에 라반이 양털을 깎으러 갔으므로 라헬은 그 아비의 드라빔을 도적질하고
31:19 Now Laban had gone to see to the cutting of the wool of his sheep; so Rachel secretly
took the images of the gods of her father's house.
31:19 And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images
that were her father's.
31:20 야곱은 그 거취를 아람 사람 라반에게 고하지 않고 가만히 떠났더라
31:20 And Jacob went away secretly, without giving news of his flight to Laban the Aramaean.
31:20 And Jacob stole away unexpectedly to Laban the Syrian, in that he told
him not that he fled.
31:21 그가 그 모든 소유를 이끌고 강을 건너 길르앗 산을 향하여 도망한 지
31:21 So he went away with all he had, and went across the River in the direction of the
hill-country of Gilead.
31:21 So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the
river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.
31:22 삼 일 만에 야곱의 도망한 것이 라반에게 들린지라
31:22 And on the third day Laban had news of Jacob's flight.
31:22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.
31:23 라반이 그 형제를 거느리고 칠 일 길을 쫓아가 길르앗 산에서 그에게 미쳤더니
31:23 And taking the men of his family with him, he went after him for seven days and
overtook him in the hill-country of Gilead.
31:23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days'
journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.
31:24 밤에 하나님이 아람 사람 라반에게 현몽하여 가라사대 너는 삼가 야곱에게
선악간 말하지 말라 하셨더라
31:24 Then God came to Laban in a dream by night, and said to him, Take care that you
say nothing good or bad to Jacob.
31:24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto
him, Take heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
31:25 라반이 야곱을 쫓아 미치니 야곱이 산에 장막을 쳤는지라 라반이 그 형제로
더불어 길르앗 산에 장막을 치고
31:25 Now when Laban overtook him, Jacob had put up his tent in the hill-country; and
Laban and his brothers put up their tents in the hill-country of Gilead.
31:25 Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount:
and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.
31:26 라반이 야곱에게 이르되 네가 내게 알리지 아니하고 가만히 내 딸들을 칼로
잡은 자 같이 끌고 갔으니 어찌 이같이 하였느냐
31:26 And Laban said to Jacob, Why did you go away secretly, taking my daughters away
like prisoners of war?
31:26 And Laban said to Jacob, What have you done, that you have stolen away
unexpectedly to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the
sword?
31:27 내가 즐거움과 노래와 북과 수금으로 너를 보내겠거늘 어찌하여 네가 나를
속이고 가만히 도망하고 내게 고하지 아니하였으며
31:27 Why did you make a secret of your flight, not giving me word of it, so that I might
have sent you away with joy and songs, with melody and music?
31:27 Wherefore did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and did
not tell me, that I might have sent you away with delight, and with songs, with
timbrel, and with harp?
31:28 나로 내 손자들과 딸들에게 입맞추지 못하게 하였느냐 네 소위가 실로 어리석도다
31:28 You did not even let me give a kiss to my sons and my daughters. This was a foolish
thing to do.
31:28 And have not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? you have
now done foolishly in so doing.
31:29 너를 해할 만한 능력이 내 손에 있으나 너희 아버지의 하나님이 어제 밤에
내게 말씀하시기를 너는 삼가 야곱에게 선악간 말하지 말라 하셨느니라
31:29 It is in my power to do you damage: but the God of your father came to me this night,
saying, Take care that you say nothing good or bad to Jacob.
31:29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father
spoke unto me last night, saying, Take you heed that you speak not to Jacob
either good or bad.
31:30 이제 네가 네 아비 집을 사모하여 돌아가려는 것은 가하거니와 어찌 내
신을 도적질하였느냐
31:30 And now, it seems, you are going because your heart's desire is for your father's
house; but why have you taken my gods?
31:30 And now, though you would essentially be gone, because you sore longed
after your father's house, yet wherefore have you stolen my gods?
31:31 야곱이 라반에게 대답하여 가로되 내가 말하기를 외삼촌이 외삼촌의 딸들을
내게서 억지로 빼앗으리라 하여 두려워하였음이니이다
31:31 And Jacob, in answer, said to Laban, My fear was that you might take your daughters
from me by force.
31:31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said,
Possibly you would take by force your daughters from me.
31:32 외삼촌의 신은 뉘게서 찾든지 그는 살지 못할 것이요 우리 형제들 앞에서
무엇이든지 외삼촌의 것이 발견되거든 외삼촌에게로 취하소서 하니 야곱은 라헬이
그것을 도적질한 줄을 알지 못함이었더라
31:32 As for your gods, if anyone of us has them, let him be put to death: make search
before us all for what is yours, and take it. For Jacob had no knowledge that Rachel
had taken them.
31:32 With whomsoever you find your gods, let him not live: before our brethren
discern you what is yours with me, and take it to you. For Jacob knew not that
Rachel had stolen them.
31:33 라반이 야곱의 장막에 들어가고 레아의 장막에 들어가고 두 여종의 장막에
들어갔으나 찾지 못하고 레아의 장막에서 나와 라헬의 장막에 들어가매
31:33 So Laban went into Jacob's tent and into Leah's tent, and into the tents of the
two servant-women, but they were not there; and he came out of Leah's tent and went
into Rachel's.
31:33 And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the
two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent,
and entered into Rachel's tent.
31:34 라헬이 그 드라빔을 가져 약대 안장 아래 넣고 그 위에 앉은지라 라반이
그 장막에서 찾다가 얻지 못하매
31:34 Now Rachel had taken the images, and had put them in the camels' basket, and was
seated on them. And Laban, searching through all the tent, did not come across them.
31:34 Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture,
and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.
31:35 라헬이 그 아비에게 이르되 마침 경수가 나므로 일어나서 영접할 수 없사오니
내 주는 노하지 마소서 하니라 라반이 그 드라빔을 두루 찾다가 얻지 못한지라
31:35 And she said to her father, Let not my lord be angry because I do not get up before
you, for I am in the common condition of women. And with all his searching, he did
not come across the images.
31:35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot
rise up before you; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched but
found not the images.
31:36 야곱이 노하여 라반을 책망할새 야곱이 라반에게 대척하여 가로되 나의
허물이 무엇이니이까 무슨 죄가 있기에 외삼촌께서 나를 불 같이 급히 쫓나이까
31:36 Then Jacob was angry with Laban, and said, What crime or sin have I done that you
have come after me with such passion?
31:36 And Jacob was angry, and find fault with Laban: and Jacob answered
and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that you have so hotly
pursued after me?
31:37 외삼촌께서 내 물건을 다 뒤져 보셨으니 외삼촌의 가장집물 중에 무엇을
찾았나이까 여기 나의 형제와 외삼촌의 형제 앞에 그것을 두고 우리 두 사이에 판단하게
하소서
31:37 Now that you have made search through all my goods, what have you seen which is
yours? Make it clear now before my people and your people, so that they may be judges
between us.
31:37 Whereas you have searched all my stuff, what have you found of all
your household stuff? set it here before my brethren and your brethren, that
they may judge between us both.
31:38 내가 이 이십 년에 외삼촌과 함께 하였거니와 외삼촌의 암양들이나 암염소들이
낙태하지 아니하였고 또 외삼촌의 양 떼의 수양을 내가 먹지 아니하였으며
31:38 These twenty years I have been with you; your sheep and your goats have had young
without loss, not one of your he-goats have I taken for food.
31:38 This twenty years have I been with you; your ewes and your she goats
have not cast their young, and the rams of your flock have I not eaten.
31:39 물려 찢긴 것은 내가 외삼촌에게로 가져가지 아니하고 스스로 그것을 보충하였으며
낮에 도적을 맞았든지 밤에 도적을 맞았든지 내가 외삼촌에게 물어 내었으며
31:39 Anything which was wounded by beasts I did not take to you, but myself made up for
the loss of it; you made me responsible for whatever was taken by thieves, by day
or by night.
31:39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto you; I bare the loss
of it; of my hand did you require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.
31:40 내가 이와 같이 낮에는 더위를 무릅쓰고 밤에는 추위를 당하며 눈 붙일 겨를도
없이 지내었나이다
31:40 This was my condition, wasted by heat in the day and by the bitter cold at night;
and sleep went from my eyes.
31:40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night;
and my sleep departed from mine eyes.
31:41 내가 외삼촌의 집에 거한 이 이십 년에 외삼촌의 두 딸을 위하여 십 사 년,
외삼촌의 양 떼를 위하여 육 년을 외삼촌을 봉사하였거니와 외삼촌께서 내 품값을 열
번이나
변역하셨으니
31:41 These twenty years I have been in your house; I was your servant for fourteen years
because of your daughters, and for six years I kept your flock, and ten times was
my payment changed.
31:41 Thus have I been twenty years in your house; I served you fourteen
years for your two daughters, and six years for your cattle: and you have changed
my wages ten times.
31:42 우리 아버지의 하나님, 아브라함의 하나님, 곧 이삭의 경외하는 이가 나와
함께 계시지 아니하셨더면 외삼촌께서 이제 나를 공수로 돌려 보내셨으리이다마는
하나님이 나의 고난과 내 손의 수고를 감찰하시고 어제 밤에 외삼촌을 책망하셨나이다
31:42 If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been
with me, you would have sent me away with nothing in my hands. But God has seen
my troubles and the work of my hands, and this night he kept you back.
31:42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac,
had been with me, surely you had sent me away now empty. God has seen mine affliction
and the labour of my hands, and rebuked you last night.
31:43 ○ 라반이 야곱에게 대답하여 가로되 딸들은 내 딸이요 자식들은 내 자식이요
앙떼는 나의 양 떼요 네가 보는 것은 다 내 것이라 내가 오늘날 내 딸들과 그 낳은
자식들에게 어찌할 수 있으랴
31:43 Then Laban, answering, said, These women are my daughters and these children my
children, the flocks and all you see are mine: what now may I do for my daughters
and for their children?
31:43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters,
and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all
that you see is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or
unto their children which they have born?
31:44 이제 오라 너와 내가 언약을 세워 그것으로 너와 나 사이에 증거를 삼을
것이니라
31:44 Come, let us make an agreement, you and I; and let it be for a witness between us.
31:44 Now therefore come you, let us make a covenant, I and you; and let
it be for a witness between me and you.
31:45 이에 야곱이 돌을 가져 기둥으로 세우고
31:45 Then Jacob took a stone and put it up as a pillar.
31:45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.
31:46 또 그 형제들에게 돌을 모으라 하니 그들이 돌을 취하여 무더기를 이루매
무리가 거기 무더기 곁에서 먹고
31:46 And Jacob said to his people, Get stones together; and they did so; and they had
a meal there by the stones.
31:46 And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones,
and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.
31:47 라반은 그것을 여갈사하두다라 칭하였고 야곱은 그것을 갈르엣이라 칭하였으니
31:47 And the name Laban gave it was Jegar-sahadutha: but Jacob gave it the name of Galeed.
31:47 And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.
31:48 라반의 말에 오늘날 이 무더기가 너와 나 사이에 증거가 된다 하였으므로
그 이름을 갈르엣이라 칭하였으며
31:48 And Laban said, These stones are a witness between you and me today. For this reason
its name was Galeed,
31:48 And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and you this day.
Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;
31:49 또 미스바라 하였으니 이는 그의 말에 우리 피차 떠나 있을 때에 여호와께서
너와 나 사이에 감찰하옵소서 함이라
31:49 And Mizpah, for he said, May the Lord keep watch on us when we are unable to see
one another's doings.
31:49 And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and you, when we
are absent one from another.
31:50 네가 내 딸을 박대하거나 내 딸들 외에 다른 아내들을 취하면 사람은 우리와
함께 할 자가 없어도 보라 하나님이 너와 나 사이에 증거하시느니라 하였더라
31:50 If you are cruel to my daughters, or if you take other wives in addition to my daughters,
then though no man is there to see, God will be the witness between us.
31:50 If you shall afflict my daughters, or if you shall take other wives
beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and you.
31:51 라반이 또 야곱에게 이르되 내가 너와 나 사이에 둔 이 무더기를 보라 또
이 기둥을 보라
31:51 And Laban said, See these stones and this pillar which I have put between you and
me;
31:51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar,
which I have cast between me and you:
31:52 이 무더기가 증거가 되고 이 기둥이 증거가 되나니 내가 이 무더기를 넘어
네게로 가서 해하지 않을 것이요 네가 이 무더기, 이 기둥을 넘어 내게로 와서 해하지
않을 것이라
31:52 They will be witness that I will not go over these stones to you, and you will not
go over these stones or this pillar to me, for any evil purpose.
31:52 This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass
over this heap to you, and that you shall not pass over this heap and this pillar
unto me, for harm.
31:53 아브라함의 하나님, 나홀의 하나님, 그들의 조상의 하나님은 우리 사이에
판단하옵소서 하매 야곱이 그 아비 이삭의 경외하는 이를 가리켜 맹세하고
31:53 May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, be our judge.
Then Jacob took an oath by the Fear of his father Isaac.
31:53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father,
judge between us. And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.
31:54 야곱이 또 산에서 제사를 드리고 형제들을 불러 떡을 먹이니 그들이 떡을
먹고 산에서 경야하고
31:54 And Jacob made an offering on the mountain, and gave orders to his people to take
food: so they had a meal and took their rest that night on the mountain.
31:54 Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren
to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.
31:55 라반이 아침에 일찌기 일어나 손자들과 딸들에게 입맞추며 그들에게 축복하고
떠나 고향으로 돌아갔더라
31:55 And early in the morning Laban, after kissing and blessing his daughters, went on
his way back to his country.
31:55 And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his
daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.
32:1 야곱이 그 길을 진행하더니 하나님의 사자들이 그를 만난지라
32:1 And on his way Jacob came face to face with the angels of God.
32:1 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
32:2 야곱이 그들을 볼 때에 이르기를 이는 하나님의 군대라 하고 그 땅 이름을
마하나임이라 하였더라
32:2 And when he saw them he said, This is the army of God: so he gave that place the
name of Mahanaim.
32:2 And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called
the name of that place Mahanaim.
32:3 ○ 야곱이 세일 땅 에돔 들에 있는 형 에서에게로 사자들을 자기보다 앞서
보내며
32:3 Now Jacob sent servants before him to Esau, his brother, in the land of Seir, the
country of Edom;
32:3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land
of Seir, the country of Edom.
32:4 그들에게 부탁하여 가로되 너희는 이같이 내 주 에서에게 고하라 주의 종
야곱이 말하기를 내가 라반에게 붙여서 지금까지 있었사오며
32:4 And he gave them orders to say these words to Esau: Your servant Jacob says, Till
now I have been living with Laban:
32:4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall all of you speak unto my lord
Esau; Your servant Jacob says thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed
there until now:
32:5 내게 소와 나귀와 양 떼와 노비가 있사오므로 사람을 보내어 내 주께 고하고
내 주께 은혜 받기를 원하나이다 하더라 하라 하였더니
32:5 And I have oxen and asses and flocks and men-servants and women-servants: and I
have sent to give my lord news of these things so that I may have grace in his eyes.
32:5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and male servants, and female servants:
and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in your sight.
32:6 사자들이 야곱에게 돌아와 가로되 우리가 주인의 형 에서에게 이른즉 그가
사백 인을 거느리고 주인을 만나려고 오더이다
32:6 When the servants came back they said, We have seen your brother Esau and he is
coming out to you, and four hundred men with him.
32:6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to your brother
Esau, and also he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him.
32:7 야곱이 심히 두렵고 답답하여 자기와 함께 한 종자와 양과 소와 약대를 두
떼로 나누고
32:7 Then Jacob was in great fear and trouble of mind: and he put all the people and
the flocks and the herds and the camels into two groups;
32:7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people
that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;
32:8 가로되 에서가 와서 한 떼를 치면 남은 한 떼는 피하리라 하고
32:8 And said, If Esau, meeting one group, makes an attack on them, the others will get
away safely.
32:8 And said, If Esau come to the one company, and strike it, then the other
company which is left shall escape.
32:9 야곱이 또 가로되 나의 조부 아브라함의 하나님, 나의 아버지 이삭의 하나님,
여호와여 주께서 전에 내게 명하시기를 네 고향 네 족속에게로 돌아가라 내가 네게
은혜를 베풀리라 하셨나이다
32:9 Then Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, the God of my father Isaac, the Lord
who said to me, Go back to your country and your family and I will be good to you:
32:9 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac,
the LORD which said unto me, Return unto your country, and to your kindred,
and I will deal well with you:
32:10 나는 주께서 주의 종에게 베푸신 모든 은총과 모든 진리를 조금이라도
감당할 수 없사오나 내가 내 지팡이만 가지고 이 요단을 건넜더니 지금은 두 떼나
이루었나이다
32:10 I am less than nothing in comparison with all your mercies and your faith to me
your servant; for with only my stick in my hand I went across Jordan, and now I
have become two armies.
32:10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth,
which you have showed unto your servant; for with my staff I passed over this
Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
32:11 내가 주께 간구하오니 내 형의 손에서 에서의 손에서 나를 건져 내시옵소서
내가 그를 두려워하옴은 그가 와서 나와 내 처자들을 칠까 겁냄이니이다
32:11 Be my saviour from the hand of Esau, my brother: for my fear is that he will make
an attack on me, putting to death mother and child.
32:11 Deliver me, I pray you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand
of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and strike me, and the mother with
the children.
32:12 주께서 말씀하시기를 내가 정녕 네게 은혜를 베풀어 네 씨로 바다의 셀
수 없는 모래와 같이 많게 하리라 하셨나이다
32:12 And you said, Truly, I will be good to you, and make your seed like the sand of
the sea which may not be numbered.
32:12 And you said, I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the
sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
32:13 ○ 야곱이 거기서 경야하고 그 소유 중에서 형 에서를 위하여 예물을 택하니
32:13 Then he put up his tent there for the night; and from among his goods he took, as
an offering for his brother Esau,
32:13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to
his hand a present for Esau his brother;
32:14 암염소가 이백이요 수염소가 이십이요 암양이 이백이요 수양이 이십이요
32:14 Two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred females and twenty males
from the sheep,
32:14 Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty
rams,
32:15 젖나는 약대 삼십과 그 새끼요 암소가 사십이요 황소가 열이요 암나귀가
이십이요 그 새끼 나귀가 열이라
32:15 Thirty camels with their young ones, forty cows, ten oxen, twenty asses, and ten
young asses.
32:15 Thirty milk giving camels with their colts, forty cattle, and ten bulls,
twenty she asses, and ten foals.
32:16 그것을 각각 떼로 나눠 종들의 손에 맡기고 그 종들에게 이르되 나보다
앞서 건너가서 각 떼로 상거가 뜨게 하라 하고
32:16 These he gave to his servants, every herd by itself, and he said to his servants,
Go on before me, and let there be a space between one herd and another.
32:16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by
themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space
between drove and drove.
32:17 그가 또 앞선 자에게 부탁하여 가로되 내 형 에서가 너를 만나 묻기를 네가
뉘 사람이며 어디로 가느냐 네 앞엣 것은 뉘 것이냐 하거든
32:17 And he gave orders to the first, saying, When my brother Esau comes to you and says,
Whose servant are you, and where are you going, and whose are these herds?
32:17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meet you,
and asks you, saying, Whose are you? and where go you? and whose are these before
you?
32:18 대답하기를 주의 종 야곱의 것이요 자기 주 에서에게로 보내는 예물이오며
야곱도 우리 뒤에 있나이다 하라 하고
32:18 Then say to him, These are your servant Jacob's; they are an offering for my lord,
for Esau; and he himself is coming after us.
32:18 Then you shall say, They be your servant Jacob's; it is a present sent
unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.
32:19 그 둘째와 세째와 각 떼를 따라가는 자에게 부탁하여 가로되 너희도 에서를
만나거든 곧 이같이 그에게 고하고
32:19 And he gave the same orders to the second and the third and to all those who were
with the herds, saying, This is what you are to say to Esau when you see him;
32:19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed
the droves, saying, On this manner shall all of you speak unto Esau, when all
of you find him.
32:20 또 너희는 말하기를 주의 종 야곱이 우리 뒤에 있다 하라 하니 이는 야곱의
생각에 내가 내 앞에 보내는 예물로 형의 감정을 푼 후에 대면하면 형이 혹시 나를
받으리라 함이었더라
32:20 And you are to say further, Jacob, your servant, is coming after us. For he said
to himself, I will take away his wrath by the offering which I have sent on, and
then I will come before him: it may be that I will have grace in his eyes.
32:20 And say all of you moreover, Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us.
For he said, I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward
I will see his face; possibly he will accept of me.
32:21 그 예물은 그의 앞서 행하고 그는 무리 가운데서 경야하다가
32:21 So the servants with the offerings went on in front, and he himself took his rest
that night in the tents with his people.
32:21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night
in the company.
32:22 밤에 일어나 두 아내와 두 여종과 열 한 아들을 인도하여 얍복 나루를 건널새
32:22 And in the night he got up, and taking with him his two wives and the two servant-women
and his eleven children, he went over the river Jabbok.
32:22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two female
servants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
32:23 그들을 인도하여 시내를 건네며 그 소유도 건네고
32:23 He took them and sent them over the stream with all he had.
32:23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that
he had.
32:24 야곱은 홀로 남았더니 어떤 사람이 날이 새도록 야곱과 씨름하다가
32:24 Then Jacob was by himself; and a man was fighting with him till dawn.
32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the
breaking of the day.
32:25 그 사람이 자기가 야곱을 이기지 못함을 보고 야곱의 환도뼈를 치매 야곱의
환도뼈가 그 사람과 씨름할 때에 위골되었더라
32:25 But when the man saw that he was not able to overcome Jacob, he gave him a blow
in the hollow part of his leg, so that his leg was damaged.
32:25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow
of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled
with him.
32:26 그 사람이 가로되 날이 새려 하니 나로 가게 하라 야곱이 가로되 당신이
내게 축복하지 아니하면 가게 하지 아니하겠나이다
32:26 And he said to him, Let me go now, for the dawn is near. But Jacob said, I will
not let you go till you have given me your blessing.
32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not
let you go, except you bless me.
32:27 그 사람이 그에게 이르되 네 이름이 무엇이냐 그가 가로되 야곱이니이다
32:27 Then he said, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.
32:27 And he said unto him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.
32:28 그 사람이 가로되 네 이름을 다시는 야곱이라 부를 것이 아니요 이스라엘이라
부를 것이니 이는 네가 하나님과 사람으로 더불어 겨루어 이기었음이니라
32:28 And he said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel: for in your fight with
God and with men you have overcome.
32:28 And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for
as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed.
32:29 야곱이 청하여 가로되 당신의 이름을 고하소서 그 사람이 가로되 어찌 내
이름을 묻느냐 하고 거기서 야곱에게 축복한지라
32:29 Then Jacob said, What is your name? And he said, What is my name to you? Then he
gave him a blessing.
32:29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And
he said, Wherefore is it that you do ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
32:30 그러므로 야곱이 그 곳 이름을 브니엘이라 하였으니 그가 이르기를 내가
하나님과 대면하여 보았으나 내 생명이 보전되었다 함이더라
32:30 And Jacob gave that place the name of Peniel, saying, I have seen God face to face,
and still I am living.
32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God
face to face, and my life is preserved.
32:31 그가 브니엘을 지날 때에 해가 돋았고 그 환도뼈로 인하여 절었더라
32:31 And while he was going past Peniel, the sun came up. And he went with unequal steps
because of his damaged leg.
32:31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon
his thigh.
32:32 그 사람이 야곱의 환도뼈 큰 힘줄을 친고로 이스라엘 사람들이 지금까지
환도뼈 큰 힘줄을 먹지 아니하더라
32:32 For this reason the children of Israel, even today, never take that muscle in the
hollow of the leg as food, because the hollow of Jacob's leg was touched.
32:32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank,
which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the
hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
33:1 야곱이 눈을 들어 보니 에서가 사백 인을 거느리고 오는지라 그 자식들을
나누어 레아와 라헬과 두 여종에게 맡기고
33:1 Then Jacob, lifting up his eyes, saw Esau coming with his four hundred men. So he
made a division of the children between Leah and Rachel and the two women-servants.
33:1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and
with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel,
and unto the two handmaids.
33:2 여종과 그 자식들은 앞에 두고 레아와 그 자식들은 다음에 두고 라헬과 요셉은
뒤에 두고
33:2 He put the servants and their children in front, Leah and her children after them,
and Rachel and Joseph at the back.
33:2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her
children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
33:3 자기는 그들 앞에서 나아가되 몸을 일곱 번 땅에 굽히며 그 형 에서에게 가까이
하니
33:3 And he himself, going before them, went down on his face to the earth seven times
till he came near his brother.
33:3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven
times, until he came near to his brother.
33:4 에서가 달려와서 그를 맞아서 안고 목을 어긋맞기고 그와 입맞추고 피차
우니라
33:4 Then Esau came running up to him, and folding him in his arms, gave him a kiss:
and the two of them were overcome with weeping.
33:4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and
kissed him: and they wept.
33:5 에서가 눈을 들어 여인과 자식들을 보고 묻되 너와 함께 한 이들은 누구냐
야곱이 가로되 하나님이 주의 종에게 은혜로 주신 자식이니이다
33:5 Then Esau, lifting up his eyes, saw the women and the children, and said, Who are
these with you? And he said, The children whom God in his mercy has given to your
servant.
33:5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said,
Who are those with you? And he said, The children which God has graciously given
your servant.
33:6 때에 여종들이 그 자식으로 더불어 나아와 절하고
33:6 Then the servants and their children came near, and went down on their faces.
33:6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed
themselves.
33:7 레아도 그 자식으로 더불어 나아와 절하고 그 후에 요셉이 라헬로 더불어
나아와 절하니
33:7 And Leah came near with her children, and then Joseph and Rachel, and they did the
same.
33:7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and
after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
33:8 에서가 또 가로되 나의 만난 바 이 모든 떼는 무슨 까닭이냐 야곱이 가로되
내 주께 은혜를 입으려 함이니이다
33:8 And he said, What were all those herds which I saw on the way? And Jacob said, They
were an offering so that I might have grace in my lord's eyes.
33:8 And he said, What mean you by all this drove which I met? And he said,
These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
33:9 에서가 가로되 내 동생아 내게 있는 것이 족하니 네 소유는 네게 두라
33:9 But Esau said, I have enough; keep what is yours, my brother, for yourself.
33:9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that you have unto yourself.
33:10 야곱이 가로되 그렇지 아니하니이다 형님께 은혜를 얻었사오면 청컨대 내
손에서 이 예물을 받으소서 내가 형님의 얼굴을 뵈온즉 하나님의 얼굴을 본 것 같사오며
형님도 나를 기뻐하심이니이다
33:10 And Jacob said, Not so; but if I have grace in your eyes, take them as a sign of
my love, for I have seen your face as one may see the face of God, and you have
been pleased with me.
33:10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray you, if now I have found grace in your
sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen your face,
as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me.
33:11 하나님이 내게 은혜를 베푸셨고 나의 소유도 족하오니 청컨대 내가 형님께
드리는 예물을 받으소서 하고 그에게 강권하매 받으니라
33:11 Take my offering then, with my blessing; for God has been very good to me and I
have enough: so at his strong request, he took it.
33:11 Take, I pray you, my blessing that is brought to you; because God has
dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he
took it.
33:12 에서가 가로되 우리가 떠나가자 내가 너의 앞잡이가 되리라
33:12 And he said, Let us go on our journey together, and I will go in front.
33:12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go
before you.
33:13 야곱이 그에게 이르되 내 주도 아시거니와 자식들은 유약하고 내게 있는
양 떼와 소가 새끼를 데렸은즉 하루만 과히 몰면 모든 떼가 죽으리니
33:13 But Jacob said, My lord may see that the children are only small, and there are
young ones in my flocks and herds: one day's over-driving will be the destruction
of all the flock.
33:13 And he said unto him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and
the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should beat them one
day, all the flock will die.
33:14 청컨대 내 주는 종보다 앞서 가소서 나는 앞에 가는 짐승과 자식의 행보대로
천천히 인도하여 세일로 가서 내 주께 나아가리이다
33:14 Do you, my lord, go on before your servant; I will come on slowly, at the rate at
which the cattle and the children are able to go, till I come to my lord at Seir.
33:14 Let my lord, I pray you, pass over before his servant: and I will lead
on softly, according as the cattle that goes before me and the children be able
to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
33:15 에서가 가로되 내가 내 종자 수인을 네게 머물리라 야곱이 가로되 어찌하여
그리하리이까 나로 내 주께 은혜를 얻게 하소서 하매
33:15 And Esau said, Then keep some of my men with you. And he said, What need is there
for that, if my lord is pleased with me?
33:15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with you some of the folk that are
with me. And he said, What needs it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
33:16 이 날에 에서는 세일로 회정하고
33:16 So Esau, turning back that day, went on his way to Seir.
33:16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
33:17 야곱은 숙곳에 이르러 자기를 위하여 집을 짓고 짐승을 위하여 우릿간을
지은 고로 그 땅 이름을 숙곳이라 부르더라
33:17 And Jacob went on to Succoth, where he made a house for himself and put up tents
for his cattle: for this reason the place was named Succoth.
33:17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths
for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
33:18 ○ 야곱이 밧단아람에서부터 평안히 가나안 땅 세겜 성에 이르러 성 앞에
그 장막을 치고
33:18 So Jacob came safely from Paddan-aram to the town of Shechem in the land of Canaan,
and put up his tents near the town.
33:18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of
Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
33:19 그 장막 친 밭을 세겜의 아비 하몰의 아들들의 손에서 은 일백 개로 사고
33:19 And for a hundred bits of money he got from the children of Hamor, the builder of
Shechem, the field in which he had put up his tents.
33:19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at
the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of
money.
33:20 거기 단을 쌓고 그 이름을 엘엘로헤이스라엘이라 하였더라
33:20 And there he put up an altar, naming it El, the God of Israel.
33:20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.
34:1 레아가 야곱에게 낳은 딸 디나가 그 땅 여자를 보러 나갔더니
34:1 Now Dinah, the daughter whom Leah had by Jacob, went out to see the women of that
country.
34:1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out
to see the daughters of the land.
34:2 히위 족속 중 하몰의 아들 그 땅 추장 세겜이 그를 보고 끌어들여 강간하여
욕되게 하고
34:2 And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite who was the chief of that land, saw
her, he took her by force and had connection with her.
34:2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country,
saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
34:3 그 마음이 깊이 야곱의 딸 디나에게 연련하며 그 소녀를 사랑하여 그의 마음을
말로 위로하고
34:3 Then his heart went out in love to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he said comforting
words to her.
34:3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the
damsel, and spoke kindly unto the damsel.
34:4 그 아비 하몰에게 청하여 가로되 이 소녀를 내 아내로 얻게 하여 주소서 하였더라
34:4 And Shechem said to Hamor, his father, Get me this girl for my wife.
34:4 And Shechem spoke unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel
to wife.
34:5 야곱이 그 딸 디나를 그가 더럽혔다 함을 들었으나 자기 아들들이 들에서
목축하므로 그들의 돌아오기까지 잠잠하였고
34:5 Now Jacob had word of what Shechem had done to his daughter; but his sons were in
the fields with the cattle, and Jacob said nothing till they came.
34:5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons
were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were
come.
34:6 세겜의 아비 하몰은 야곱에게 말하러 왔으며
34:6 Then Hamor, the father of Shechem, came out to have a talk with Jacob.
34:6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with
him.
34:7 야곱의 아들들은 들에서 이를 듣고 돌아와서 사람 사람이 근심하고 심히
노하였으니 이는 세겜이 야곱의 딸을 강간하여 이스라엘에게 부끄러운 일 곧 행치
못할 일을 행하였음이더라
34:7 Now the sons of Jacob came in from the fields when they had news of it, and they
were wounded and very angry because of the shame he had done in Israel by having
connection with Jacob's daughter; and they said, Such a thing is not to be done.
34:7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and
the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought folly
in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter: which thing ought not to be done.
34:8 하몰이 그들에게 이르되 내 아들 세겜이 마음으로 너희 딸을 연련하여 하니
원컨대 그를 세겜에게 주어 아내를 삼게 하라
34:8 But Hamor said to them, Shechem, my son, is full of desire for your daughter: will
you then give her to him for a wife?
34:8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longs
for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
34:9 너희가 우리와 통혼하여 너희 딸을 우리에게 주며 우리 딸을 너희가 취하고
34:9 And let our two peoples be joined together; give your daughters to us, and take
our daughters for yourselves.
34:9 And make all of you marriages with us, and give your daughters unto
us, and take our daughters unto you.
34:10 너희가 우리와 함께 거하되 땅이 너희 앞에 있으니 여기 머물러 매매하며
여기서 기업을 얻으라 하고
34:10 Go on living with us, and the country will be open to you; do trade and get property
there.
34:10 And all of you shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you;
dwell and trade all of you therein, and get you possessions therein.
34:11 세겜도 디나의 아비와 남형들에게 이르되 나로 너희에게 은혜를 입게 하라
너희가 내게 청구하는 것은 내가 수응하리니
34:11 And Shechem said to her father and her brothers, If you will give ear to my request,
whatever you say I will give to you.
34:11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find
grace in your eyes, and what all of you shall say unto me I will give.
34:12 이 소녀만 내게 주어 아내가 되게 하라 아무리 큰 빙물과 예물을 청구할지라도
너희가 내게 말한 대로 수응하리라
34:12 However great you make the bride-price and payment, I will give it; only let me
have the girl for my wife.
34:12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as all
of you shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.
34:13 야곱의 아들들이 세겜과 그 아비 하몰에게 속여 대답하였으니 이는 세겜이
그 누이 디나를 더럽혔음이라
34:13 But the sons of Jacob gave a false answer to Shechem and Hamor his father, because
of what had been done to Dinah their sister.
34:13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully,
and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:
34:14 야곱의 아들들이 그들에게 말하되 우리는 그리하지 못하겠노라 할례 받지
아니한 사람에게 우리 누이를 줄 수 없노니 이는 우리의 수욕이 됨이니라
34:14 And they said, It is not possible for us to give our sister to one who is without
circumcision, for that would be a cause of shame to us:
34:14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister
to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
34:15 그런즉 이같이 하면 너희에게 허락하리라 만일 너희 중 남자가 다 할례를
받고 우리 같이 되면
34:15 But on this condition only will we come to an agreement with you: if every male
among you becomes like us and undergoes circumcision;
34:15 But in this will we consent unto you: If all of you will be as we be,
that every male of you be circumcised;
34:16 우리 딸을 너희에게 주며 너희 딸을 우리가 취하며 너희가 함께 거하여
한 민족이 되려니와
34:16 Then we will give our daughters to you and take your daughters to us and go on living
with you as one people.
34:16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters
to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
34:17 너희가 만일 우리를 듣지 아니하고 할례를 받지 아니하면 우리는 곧 우리
딸을 데리고 가리라
34:17 But if you will not undergo circumcision as we say, then we will take our daughter
and go.
34:17 But if all of you will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then
will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.
34:18 ○ 그들의 말을 하몰과 그 아들 세겜이 좋게 여기므로
34:18 And their words were pleasing to Hamor and his son Shechem.
34:18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.
34:19 이 소년이 그 일 행하기를 지체치 아니하였으니 그가 야곱의 딸을 사랑함이며
그는 그 아비 집에 가장 존귀함일러라
34:19 And without loss of time the young man did as they said, because he had delight
in Jacob's daughter, and he was the noblest of his father's house.
34:19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight
in Jacob's daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.
34:20 하몰과 그 아들 세겜이 성문에 이르러 그 고을 사람에게 말하여 가로되
34:20 Then Hamor and Shechem, his son, went to the meeting-place of their town, and said
to the men of the town,
34:20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and
communed with the men of their city, saying,
34:21 이 사람들은 우리와 친목하고 이 땅은 넓어 그들을 용납할 만하니 그들로
여기서 거주하며 매매하게 하고 우리가 그들의 딸들을 아내로 취하고 우리 딸들도
그들에게 주자
34:21 It is the desire of these men to be at peace with us; let them then go on living
in this country and doing trade here, for the country is wide open before them;
let us take their daughters as wives and let us give them our daughters.
34:21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land,
and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us
take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.
34:22 그러나 우리 중에 모든 남자가 그들의 할례를 받음 같이 할례를 받아야 그
사람들이 우리와 함께 거하여 한 민족 되기를 허락할 것이라
34:22 But these men will make an agreement with us to go on living with us and to become
one people, only on the condition that every male among us undergoes circumcision
as they have done.
34:22 Only herein will the men consent unto us in order to dwell with us,
to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.
34:23 그리하면 그들의 생축과 재산과 그 모든 짐승이 우리의 소유가 되지 않겠느냐
다만 그 말대로 하자 그리하면 그들이 우리와 함께 거하리라
34:23 Then will not their cattle and their goods and all their beasts be ours? so let
us come to an agreement with them so that they may go on living with us.
34:23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of their's
be our's? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.
34:24 성문으로 출입하는 모든 자가 하몰과 그 아들 세겜의 말을 듣고 성문으로
출입하는 그 모든 남자가 할례를 받으니라
34:24 Then all the men of the town gave ear to the words of Hamor and Shechem his son;
and every male in the town underwent circumcision.
34:24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out
of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of
the gate of his city.
34:25 제 삼 일에 미쳐 그들이 고통할 때에 야곱의 두 아들 디나의 오라비 시므온과
레위가 각기 칼을 가지고 가서 부지 중에 성을 엄습하여 그 모든 남자를 죽이고
34:25 But on the third day after, before the wounds were well, two of the sons of Jacob,
Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and came into the town by surprise
and put all the males to death.
34:25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two
of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword,
and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.
34:26 칼로 하몰과 그 아들 세겜을 죽이고 디나를 세겜의 집에서 데려 오고
34:26 And Hamor and his son they put to death with the sword, and they took Dinah from
Shechem's house and went away.
34:26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword,
and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out.
34:27 야곱의 여러 아들이 그 시체 있는 성으로 가서 노략하였으니 이는 그들이
그 누이를 더럽힌 연고라
34:27 And the sons of Jacob came on them when they were wounded and made waste the town
because of what had been done to their sister;
34:27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because
they had defiled their sister.
34:28 그들이 양과 소와 나귀와 그 성에 있는 것과 들에 있는 것과
34:28 They took their flocks and their herds and their asses and everything in their town
and in their fields,
34:28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which
was in the city, and that which was in the field,
34:29 그 모든 재물을 빼앗으며 그 자녀와 아내들을 사로잡고 집 속의 물건을
다 노략한지라
34:29 And all their wealth and all their little ones and their wives; everything in their
houses they took and made them waste.
34:29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took
they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.
34:30 야곱이 시므온과 레위에게 이르되 너희가 내게 화를 끼쳐 나로 이 땅 사람
곧 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속에게 냄새를 내게 하였도다 나는 수가 적은즉 그들이
모여 나를 치고 나를 죽이리니 그리하면 나와 내 집이 멸망하리라
34:30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, You have made trouble for me and given me a bad
name among the people of this country, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites:
and because we are small in number they will come together against me and make war
on me; and it will be the end of me and all my people.
34:30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, All of you have troubled me to make
me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the
Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together
against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.
34:31 그들이 가로되 그가 우리 누이를 창녀 같이 대우함이 가하니이까
34:31 But they said, Were we to let him make use of our sister as a loose woman?
34:31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
35:1 하나님이 야곱에게 이르시되 일어나 벧엘로 올라가서 거기 거하며 네가 네
형 에서의 낯을 피하여 도망하던 때에 네게 나타났던 하나님께 거기서 단을 쌓으라
하신지라
35:1 And God said to Jacob, Go up now to Beth-el and make your living-place there: and
put up an altar there to the God who came to you when you were in flight from your
brother Esau.
35:1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and
make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto you when you fled from the
face of Esau your brother.
35:2 야곱이 이에 자기 집 사람과 자기와 함께 한 모든 자에게 이르되 너희 중의
이방 신상을 버리고 자신을 정결케 하고 의복을 바꾸라
35:2 Then Jacob said to all his people, Put away the strange gods which are among you,
and make yourselves clean, and put on a change of clothing:
35:2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put
away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
35:3 우리가 일어나 벧엘로 올라가자 나의 환난날에 내게 응답하시며 나의 가는
길에서 나와 함께 하신 하나님께 내가 거기서 단을 쌓으려 하노라 하매
35:3 And let us go up to Beth-el: and there I will make an altar to God, who gave me
an answer in the day of my trouble, and was with me wherever I went.
35:3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar
unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the
way which I went.
35:4 그들이 자기 손에 있는 모든 이방 신상과 자기 귀에 있는 고리를 야곱에게
주는지라 야곱이 그것들을 세겜 근처 상수리나무 아래 묻고
35:4 Then they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which they had, and the rings which
were in their ears; and Jacob put them away under the holy tree at Shechem.
35:4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand,
and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the
oak which was by Shechem.
35:5 그들이 발행하였으나 하나님이 그 사면 고을들로 크게 두려워하게 하신 고로
야곱의 아들들을 추격하는 자가 없었더라
35:5 So they went on their journey: and the fear of God was on the towns round about,
so that they made no attack on the sons of Jacob.
35:5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were
round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
35:6 야곱과 그와 함께 한 모든 사람이 가나안 땅 루스 곧 벧엘에 이르고
35:6 And Jacob came to Luz in the land of Canaan (which is the same as Beth-el), he and
all his people.
35:6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel,
he and all the people that were with him.
35:7 그가 거기서 단을 쌓고 그 곳을 엘벧엘이라 불렀으니 이는 그 형의 낯을 피할
때에 하나님이 그에게 거기서 나타나셨음이더라
35:7 And there he made an altar, naming the place El-beth-el: because it was there he
had the vision of God when he was in flight from his brother.
35:7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because
there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
35:8 리브가의 유모 드보라가 죽으매 그를 벧엘 아래 상수리나무 밑에 장사하고
그 나무 이름을 알론바굿이라 불렀더라
35:8 And Deborah, the servant who had taken care of Rebekah from her birth, came to her
end, and was put to rest near Beth-el, under the holy tree: and they gave it the
name of Allon-bacuth.
35:8 But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel
under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.
35:9 ○ 야곱이 밧단아람에서 돌아오매 하나님이 다시 야곱에게 나타나사 그에게
복을 주시고
35:9 Now when Jacob was on his way from Paddan-aram, God came to him again and, blessing
him, said,
35:9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and
blessed him.
35:10 그에게 이르시되 네 이름이 야곱이다마는 네 이름을 다시는 야곱이라 부르지
않겠고 이스라엘이 네 이름이 되리라 하시고 그가 그의 이름을 이스라엘이라 부르시고
35:10 Jacob is your name, but it will be so no longer; from now your name will be Israel;
so he was named Israel.
35:10 And God said unto him, Your name is Jacob: your name shall not be called
any more Jacob, but Israel shall be your name: and he called his name Israel.
35:11 그에게 이르시되 나는 전능한 하나님이니라 생육하며 번성하라 국민과 많은
국민이 네게서 나고 왕들이 네 허리에서 나오리라
35:11 And God said to him, I am God, the Ruler of all: be fertile, and have increase;
a nation, truly a group of nations, will come from you, and kings will be your offspring;
35:11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply;
a nation and a company of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out
of your loins;
35:12 내가 아브라함과 이삭에게 준 땅을 네게 주고 내가 네 후손에게도 그 땅을
주리라 하시고
35:12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you; and to your
seed after you I will give the land.
35:12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to you I will give it,
and to your seed after you will I give the land.
35:13 하나님이 그와 말씀하시던 곳에서 그를 떠나 올라가시는지라
35:13 Then God went up from him in the place where he had been talking with him.
35:13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.
35:14 야곱이 하나님의 자기와 말씀하시던 곳에 기둥 곧 돌 기둥을 세우고 그
위에 전제물을 붓고 또 그 위에 기름을 붓고
35:14 And Jacob put up a pillar in the place where he had been talking with God, and put
a drink offering on it, and oil.
35:14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even
a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil
thereon.
35:15 하나님이 자기와 말씀하시던 곳의 이름을 벧엘이라 불렀더라
35:15 And he gave to the place where God had been talking with him, the name of Beth-el.
35:15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.
35:16 ○ 그들이 벧엘에서 발행하여 에브랏에 이르기까지 얼마 길을 격한 곳에서
라헬이 임산하여 심히 신고하더니
35:16 So they went on from Beth-el; and while they were still some distance from Ephrath,
the pains of birth came on Rachel and she had a hard time.
35:16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come
to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
35:17 그가 난산할 즈음에 산파가 그에게 이르되 두려워 말라 지금 그대가 또 득남하느니라
하매
35:17 And when her pain was very great, the woman who was helping her said, Have no fear;
for now you will have another son.
35:17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife
said unto her, Fear not; you shall have this son also.
35:18 그가 죽기에 임하여 그 혼이 떠나려 할 때에 아들의 이름은 베노니라 불렀으나
그 아비가 그를 베냐민이라 불렀더라
35:18 And in the hour when her life went from her (for death came to her), she gave the
child the name Ben-oni: but his father gave him the name of Benjamin.
35:18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that
she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.
35:19 라헬이 죽으매 에브랏 곧 베들레헴 길에 장사되었고
35:19 So Rachel came to her end and was put to rest on the road to Ephrath (which is Beth-lehem).
35:19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
35:20 야곱이 라헬의 묘에 비를 세웠더니 지금까지 라헬의 묘비라 일컫더라
35:20 And Jacob put up a pillar on her resting-place; which is named, The Pillar of the
resting-place of Rachel, to this day.
35:20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's
grave unto this day.
35:21 이스라엘이 다시 발행하여 에델 망대를 지나 장막을 쳤더라
35:21 And Israel went journeying on and put up his tents on the other side of the tower
of the flock.
35:21 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
35:22 이스라엘이 그 땅에 유할 때에 르우벤이 가서 그 서모 빌하와 통간하매
이스라엘이 이를 들었더라 ○ 야곱의 아들은 열 둘이라
35:22 Now while they were living in that country, Reuben had connection with Bilhah, his
father's servant-woman: and Israel had news of it.
35:22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went
and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons
of Jacob were twelve:

35:23 Now Jacob had twelve sons: the sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first son, and Simeon

35:24 라헬의 소생은 요셉과 베냐민이며

35:26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's servant: Gad and Asher; these are the sons whom Jacob
had in Paddan-aram.

the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.
35:27 ○ 야곱이 기럇아르바의 마므레로 가서 그 아비 이삭에게 이르렀으니 기럇아르바는
곧 아브라함과 이삭의 우거하던 헤브론이더라
35:27 And Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, at Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, where
Abraham and Isaac had been living.
35:27 And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah,
which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
35:28 이삭의 나이 일백 팔십 세라
35:28 And Isaac was a hundred and eighty years old.
35:28 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.
35:29 이삭이 나이 많고 늙어 기운이 진하매 죽어 자기 열조에게로 돌아가니
그 아들 에서와 야곱이 그를 장사하였더라
35:29 Then Isaac came to his end and was put to rest with his father's people, an old
man after a long life: and Jacob and Esau, his sons, put him in his last resting-place.
35:29 And Isaac gave up the spirit, and died, and was gathered unto his people,
being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

and his beasts and his cattle and all his goods which he had got together in the
land of Canaan, and went into the land of Seir, away from his brother Jacob.

persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance,
which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face
of his brother Jacob.
36:7 두 사람의 소유가 풍부하여 함께 거할 수 없음이러라 그들의 우거한 땅이

36:7 For their wealth was so great that the land was not wide enough for the two of them
and all their cattle.

36:33 At his death, Jobab, son of Zerah of Bozrah, became king in his place.

position.
36:34 요밥이 죽고 데만 족속의 땅의 후삼이 그를 대신하여 왕이 되고
36:34 And at the death of Jobab, Husham, from the country of the Temanites, became king
in his place.

36:35 And at the death of Husham, Hadad, son of Bedad, who overcame the Midianites in
the field of Moab, became king; his chief town was named Avith.
36:35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who stroke Midian in the
field of Moab, reigned in his position: and the name of his city was Avith.

36:39 And at the death of Baal-hanan, Hadar became king in his place; his chief town was
named Pau, and his wife's name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred, the
daughter of Me-zahab.
36:39 And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his position:
and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter

37:1 야곱이 가나안 땅 곧 그 아비의 우거하던 땅에 거하였으니
37:1 Now Jacob was living in the land where his father had made a place for himself,
in the land of Canaan.
37:1 And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the
land of Canaan.
37:2 야곱의 약전이 이러하니라 요셉이 십 칠 세의 소년으로서 그 형제와 함께 양을
칠 때에 그 아비의 첩 빌하와 실바의 아들들로 더불어 함께 하였더니 그가 그들의
과실을 아비에게 고하더라
37:2 These are the generations of Jacob: Joseph, a boy seventeen years old, was looking
after the flock, together with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his
father's wives; and Joseph gave their father a bad account of them.
37:2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old,
was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah,
and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his
father their evil report.
37:3 요셉은 노년에 얻은 아들이므로 이스라엘이 여러 아들보다 그를 깊이 사랑하여
위하여 채색옷을 지었더니
37:3 Now the love which Israel had for Joseph was greater than his love for all his other
children, because he got him when he was an old man: and he had a long coat made
for him.
37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the
son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
37:4 그 형들이 아비가 형제들보다 그를 사랑함을 보고 그를 미워하여 그에게
언사가 불평하였더라
37:4 And because his brothers saw that Joseph was dearer to his father than all the others,
they were full of hate for him, and would not say a kind word to him.
37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all
his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
37:5 ○ 요셉이 꿈을 꾸고 자기 형들에게 고하매 그들이 그를 더욱 미워 하였더라
37:5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he gave his brothers an account of it, which made their
hate greater than ever.
37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated
him yet the more.
37:6 요셉이 그들에게 이르되 청컨대 나의 꾼 꿈을 들으시오
37:6 And he said to them, Let me give you the story of my dream.
37:6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
37:7 우리가 밭에서 곡식을 묶더니 내 단은 일어서고 당신들의 단은 내 단을 둘러서서
절하더이다
37:7 We were in the field, getting the grain stems together, and my grain kept upright,
and yours came round and went down on the earth before mine.
37:7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf
arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about,
and made reverence to my sheaf.
37:8 그 형들이 그에게 이르되 네가 참으로 우리의 왕이 되겠느냐 참으로 우리를
다스리게 되겠느냐 하고 그 꿈과 그 말을 인하여 그를 더욱 미워하더니
37:8 And his brothers said to him, Are you to be our king? will you have authority over
us? And because of his dream and his words, their hate for him became greater than
ever.
37:8 And his brethren said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? or shall
you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams,
and for his words.
37:9 요셉이 다시 꿈을 꾸고 그 형들에게 고하여 가로되 내가 또 꿈을 꾼즉 해와
달과 열 한 별이 내게 절하더이다 하니라
37:9 Then he had another dream, and gave his brothers an account of it, saying, I have
had another dream: the sun and the moon and eleven stars gave honour to me.
37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said,
Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the
eleven stars made reverence to me.
37:10 그가 그 꿈으로 부형에게 고하매 아비가 그를 꾸짖고 그에게 이르되 너의
꾼 꿈이 무엇이냐 나와 네 모와 네 형제들이 참으로 가서 땅에 엎드려 네게 절하겠느냐
37:10 And he gave word of it to his father and his brothers; but his father protesting
said, What sort of a dream is this? am I and your mother and your brothers to go
down on our faces to the earth before you?
37:10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked
him, and said unto him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and
your mother and your brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the
earth?
37:11 그 형들은 시기하되 그 아비는 그 말을 마음에 두었더라
37:11 And his brothers were full of envy; but his father kept his words in mind.
37:11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
37:12 ○ 그 형들이 세겜에 가서 아비의 양 떼를 칠 때에
37:12 Now his brothers went to keep watch over their father's flock in Shechem.
37:12 And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
37:13 이스라엘이 요셉에게 이르되 네 형들이 세겜에서 양을 치지 아니하느냐
너를 그들에게로 보내리라 요셉이 아비에게 대답하되 내가 그리하겠나이다
37:13 And Israel said to Joseph, Are not your brothers with the flock in Shechem? come,
I will send you to them. And he said to him, Here am I.
37:13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not your brethren feed the flock in
Shechem? come, and I will send you unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
37:14 이스라엘이 그에게 이르되 가서 네 형들과 양 떼가 다 잘 있는 여부를 보고
돌아와 내게 고하라 하고 그를 헤브론 골짜기에서 보내매 이에 세겜으로 가니라
37:14 And he said to him, Go now, and see if your brothers are well and how the flock
is; then come back and give me word. So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron,
and he came to Shechem.
37:14 And he said to him, Go, I pray you, see whether it be well with your
brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him
out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
37:15 어떤 사람이 그를 만난즉 그가 들에서 방황하는지라 그 사람이 그에게 물어
가로되 네가 무엇을 찾느냐
37:15 And a man saw him wandering in the country, and said to him, What are you looking
for?
37:15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field:
and the man asked him, saying, What seek you?
37:16 그가 가로되 내가 나의 형들을 찾으오니 청컨대 그들의 양치는 곳을 내게
가르치소서
37:16 And he said, I am looking for my brothers; please give me word of where they are
keeping their flock.
37:16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray you, where they feed
their flocks.
37:17 그 사람이 가로되 그들이 여기서 떠났느니라 내가 그들의 말을 들으니 도단으로
가자 하더라 요셉이 그 형들의 뒤를 따라 가서 도단에서 그들을 만나니라
37:17 And the man said, They have gone away from here, for they said in my hearing, Let
us go to Dothan. So Joseph went after them and came up with them at Dothan.
37:17 And the man said, They are departed behind; for I heard them say, Let
us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
37:18 ○ 요셉이 그들에게 가까이 오기 전에 그들이 요셉을 멀리서 보고 죽이기를
꾀하여
37:18 But they saw him when he was a long way off, and before he came near them they made
a secret design against him to put him to death;
37:18 And when they saw him far off, even before he came near unto them,
they conspired against him to slay him.
37:19 서로 이르되 꿈 꾸는 자가 오는도다
37:19 Saying to one another, See, here comes this dreamer.
37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes.
37:20 자, 그를 죽여 한 구덩이에 던지고 우리가 말하기를 악한 짐승이 그를 잡아먹었다
하자 그 꿈이 어떻게 되는 것을 우리가 볼 것이니라 하는지라
37:20 Let us now put him to death and put his body into one of these holes, and we will
say, An evil beast has put him to death: then we will see what becomes of his dreams.
37:20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit,
and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will
become of his dreams.
37:21 르우벤이 듣고 요셉을 그들의 손에서 구원하려 하여 가로되 우리가 그 생명은
상하지 말자
37:21 But Reuben, hearing these words, got him out of their hands, saying, Let us not
take his life.
37:21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said,
Let us not kill him.
37:22 르우벤이 또 그들에게 이르되 피를 흘리지 말라 그를 광야 그 구덩이에
던지고 손을 그에게 대지 말라 하니 이는 그가 요셉을 그들의 손에서 구원하여 그
아비에게로 돌리려 함이었더라
37:22 Do not put him to a violent death, but let him be placed in one of the holes; this
he said to keep him safe from their hands, with the purpose of taking him back to
his father again.
37:22 And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit
that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out
of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
37:23 요셉이 형들에게 이르매 그 형들이 요셉의 옷 곧 그 입은 채색옷을 벗기고
37:23 So when Joseph came to his brothers, they took off his long coat which he had on;
37:23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they
stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
37:24 그를 잡아 구덩이에 던지니 그 구덩이는 빈 것이라 그 속에 물이 없었더라
37:24 And they took him and put him in the hole: now the hole had no water in it.
37:24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty,
there was no water in it.
37:25 ○ 그들이 앉아 음식을 먹다가 눈을 들어 본즉 한 떼 이스마엘 족속이 길르앗에서
오는데 그 약대들에 향품과 유향과 몰약을 싣고 애굽으로 내려가는지라
37:25 Then seating themselves, they took their meal: and looking up, they saw a travelling
band of Ishmaelites, coming from Gilead on their way to Egypt, with spices and perfumes
on their camels.
37:25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked,
and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing
spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
37:26 유다가 자기 형제에게 이르되 우리가 우리 동생을 죽이고 그의 피를 은익한들
무엇이 유익할까
37:26 And Judah said to his brothers, What profit is there in putting our brother to death
and covering up his blood?
37:26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our
brother, and conceal his blood?
37:27 자, 그를 이스마엘 사람에게 팔고 우리 손을 그에게 대지 말자 그는 우리의
동생이요 우리의 골육이니라 하매 형제들이 청종하였더라
37:27 Let us give him to these Ishmaelites for a price, and let us not put violent hands
on him, for he is our brother, our flesh. And his brothers gave ear to him.
37:27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand
be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
37:28 때에 미디안 사람 상고들이 지나는지라 그들이 요셉을 구덩이에서 끌어
올리고 은 이십 개에 그를 이스마엘 사람들에게 팔매 그 상고들이 요셉을 데리고 애굽으로
갔더라
37:28 And some traders from Midian went by; so pulling Joseph up out of the hole, they
gave him to the Ishmaelites for twenty bits of silver, and they took him to Egypt.
37:28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted
up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces
of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
37:29 ○ 르우벤이 돌아와서 구덩이에 이르러 본즉 거기 요셉이 없는지라 옷을
찢고
37:29 Now when Reuben came back to the hole, Joseph was not there; and giving signs of
grief,
37:29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the
pit; and he rent his clothes.
37:30 아우들에게로 와서 가로되 아이가 없도다 나는 나는 어디로 갈까
37:30 He went back to his brothers, and said, The child is gone; what am I to do?
37:30 And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and
I, where shall I go?
37:31 그들이 요셉의 옷을 취하고 수염소를 죽여 그 옷을 피에 적시고
37:31 Then they took Joseph's coat, and put on it some of the blood from a young goat
which they had put to death,
37:31 And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped
the coat in the blood;
37:32 그 채색옷을 보내어 그 아비에게로 가져다가 이르기를 우리가 이것을 얻었으니
아버지의 아들의 옷인가 아닌가 보소서 하매
37:32 And they took the coat to their father, and said, We came across this; is it your
son's coat or not?
37:32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their
father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be your son's coat
or no.
37:33 아비가 그것을 알아보고 가로되 내 아들의 옷이라 악한 짐승이 그를 먹었도다
요셉이 정녕 찢겼도다 하고
37:33 And he saw that it was, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast has put him
to death; without doubt Joseph has come to a cruel end.
37:33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast has devoured
him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
37:34 자기 옷을 찢고 굵은 베로 허리를 묶고 오래도록 그 아들을 위하여 애통하니
37:34 Then Jacob, giving signs of grief, put on haircloth, and went on weeping for his
son day after day.
37:34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned
for his son many days.
37:35 그 모든 자녀가 위로하되 그가 그 위로를 받지 아니하여 가로되 내가 슬퍼하며
음부에 내려 아들에게로 가리라 하고 그 아비가 그를 위하여 울었더라
37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters came to give him comfort, but he would not
be comforted, saying with weeping, I will go down to the underworld to my son. So
great was his father's sorrow for him.
37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but
he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto
my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
37:36 미디안 사람이 애굽에서 바로의 신하 시위대장 보디발에게 요셉을 팔았더라
37:36 And in Egypt the men of Midian gave him for a price to Potiphar, a captain of high
position in Pharaoh's house.
37:36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of
Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
38:1 그 후에 유다가 자기 형제에게서 내려가서 아둘람 사람 히라에게로 나아가니라
38:1 Now at that time, Judah went away from his brothers and became the friend of a man
of Adullam named Hirah.
38:1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren,
and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.
38:2 유다가 거기서 가나안 사람 수아라 하는 자의 딸을 보고 그를 취하여 동침하니
38:2 And there he saw the daughter of a certain man of Canaan named Shua, and took her
as his wife.
38:2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was
Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.
38:3 그가 잉태하여 아들을 낳으매 유다가 그 이름을 엘이라 하니라
38:3 And she gave birth to a son, and he gave him the name Er.
38:3 And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er.
38:4 그가 다시 잉태하여 아들을 낳고 그 이름을 오난이라 하고
38:4 And again she gave birth to a son, and he gave him the name Onan.
38:4 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.
38:5 그가 또 다시 아들을 낳고 그 이름을 셀라라 하니라 그가 셀라를 낳을 때에
유다는 거십에 있었더라
38:5 Then she had another son, to whom she gave the name Shelah; she was at Chezib when
the birth took place.
38:5 And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah:
and he was at Chezib, when she bare him.
38:6 유다가 장자 엘을 위하여 아내를 취하니 그 이름은 다말이더라
38:6 And Judah took a wife for his first son Er, and her name was Tamar.
38:6 And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.
38:7 유다의 장자 엘이 여호와 목전에 악하므로 여호와께서 그를 죽이신지라
38:7 Now Er, Judah's first son, did evil in the eyes of the Lord, so that he put him
to death.
38:7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and
the LORD slew him.
38:8 유다가 오난에게 이르되 네 형수에게로 들어가서 남편의 아우의 본분을 행하여
네 형을 위하여 씨가 있게 하라
38:8 Then Judah said to Onan, Go in to your brother's wife and do what it is right for
a husband's brother to do; make her your wife and get offspring for your brother.
38:8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto your brother's wife, and marry
her, and raise up seed to your brother.
38:9 오난이 그 씨가 자기 것이 되지 않을 줄 알므로 형수에게 들어갔을 때에
형에게 아들을 얻게 아니하려고 땅에 설정하매
38:9 But Onan, seeing that the offspring would not be his, went in to his brother's wife,
but let his seed go on to the earth, so that he might not get offspring for his
brother.
38:9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass,
when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest
that he should give seed to his brother.
38:10 그 일이 여호와 목전에 악하므로 여호와께서 그도 죽이시니
38:10 And what he did was evil in the eyes of the Lord, so that he put him to death, like
his brother.
38:10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him
also.
38:11 유다가 그 며느리 다말에게 이르되 수절하고 네 아비 집에 있어서 내 아들
셀라가 장성하기를 기다리라 하니 셀라도 그 형들 같이 죽을까 염려함이라 다말이
가서 그 아비 집에 있으니라
38:11 Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, Go back to your father's house and
keep yourself as a widow till my son Shelah becomes a man: for he had in his mind
the thought that death might come to him as it had come to his brothers. So Tamar
went back to her father's house.
38:11 Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at your
father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest possibly he die
also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.
38:12 ○ 얼마 후에 유다의 아내 수아의 딸이 죽은지라 유다가 위로를 받은 후에
그 친구 아둘람 사람 히라와 함께 딤나로 올라가서 자기 양털 깍는 자에게 이르렀더니
38:12 And after a time, Bath-shua, Judah's wife, came to her end; and after Judah was
comforted for her loss, he went to Timnah, where they were cutting the wool of his
sheep, and his friend Hirah of Adullam went with him.
38:12 And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and
Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his
friend Hirah the Adullamite.
38:13 혹이 다말에게 고하되 네 시부가 자기 양털을 깎으려고 딤나에 올라왔다
한지라
38:13 And when Tamar had news that her father-in-law was going up to Timnah to the wool-cutting,
38:13 And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold your father in law goes up to
Timnath to shear his sheep.
38:14 그가 그 과부의 의복을 벗고 면박으로 얼굴을 가리고 몸을 휩싸고 딤나
길 곁 에나임 문에 앉으니 이는 셀라가 장성함을 보았어도 자기를 그의 아내로 주지
않음을 인함이라
38:14 She took off her widow's clothing, and covering herself with her veil, she took
her seat near Enaim on the road to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was now a man,
but she had not been made his wife.
38:14 And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with
a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to
Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to
wife.
38:15 그가 얼굴을 가리웠으므로 유다가 그를 보고 창녀로 여겨
38:15 When Judah saw her he took her to be a loose woman of the town, because her face
was covered.
38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had
covered her face.
38:16 길 곁으로 그에게 나아가 가로되 청컨대 나로 네게 들어가게 하라 하니 그
자부인 줄 알지 못하였음이라 그가 가로되 당신이 무엇을 주고 내게 들어오려느냐
38:16 And turning to her by the roadside, he said to her, Let me come in to you; for he
had no idea that she was his daughter-in-law. And she said, What will you give me
as my price?
38:16 And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray you, let
me come in unto you; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And
she said, What will you give me, that you may come in unto me?
38:17 유다가 가로되 내가 내 떼에서 염소 새끼를 주리라 그가 가로되 당신이
그것을 줄 때까지 약조물을 주겠느냐
38:17 And he said, I will give you a young goat from the flock. And she said, What will
you give me as a sign till you send it?
38:17 And he said, I will send you a kid from the flock. And she said, Will
you give me a pledge, till you send it?
38:18 유다가 가로되 무슨 약조물을 네게 주랴 그가 가로되 당신의 도장과 그
끈과 당신의 손에 있는 지팡이로 하라 유다가 그것들을 그에게 주고 그에게로 들어갔더니
그가 유다로 말미암아 잉태하였더라
38:18 And he said, What would you have? And she said, Your ring and its cord and the stick
in your hand. So he gave them to her and went in to her, and she became with child
by him.
38:18 And he said, What pledge shall I give you? And she said, Your signet,
and your bracelets, and your staff that is in yours hand. And he gave it her,
and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
38:19 그가 일어나 떠나가서 그 면박을 벗고 과부의 의복을 도로 입으니라
38:19 Then she got up and went away and took off her veil and put on her widow's clothing.
38:19 And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put
on the garments of her widowhood.
38:20 유다가 그 친구 아둘람 사람의 손에 부탁하여 염소 새끼를 보내고 그 여인의
손에서 약조물을 찾으려 하였으나 그가 그 여인을 찾지 못한지라
38:20 Then Judah sent his friend Hirah with the young goat, to get back the things which
he had given as a sign to the woman: but she was not there.
38:20 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to
receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not.
38:21 그가 그 곳 사람에게 물어 가로되 길 곁 에나임에 있던 창녀가 어디 있느냐
그들이 가로되 여기는 창녀가 없느니라
38:21 And he put questions to the men of the place, saying, Where is the loose woman who
was in Enaim by the wayside? And they said, There was no such woman there.
38:21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that
was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
38:22 그가 유다에게로 돌아와 가로되 내가 그를 찾지 못하고 그 곳 사람도 이르기를
여기는 창녀가 없다 하더라
38:22 So he went back to Judah, and said, I have not seen her, and the men of the place
say that there is no such woman there.
38:22 And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the
men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
38:23 유다가 가로되 그로 그것을 가지게 두라 우리가 부끄러움을 당할까 하노라
내가 이 염소 새끼를 보내었으나 그대가 그를 찾지 못하였느니라
38:23 And Judah said, Let her keep the things, so that we may not be shamed; I sent the
young goat, but you did not see the woman.
38:23 And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold,
I sent this kid, and you have not found her.
38:24 석 달쯤 후에 혹이 유다에게 고하여 가로되 네 며느리 다말이 행음하였고
그 행음함을 인하여 잉태하였느니라 유다가 가로되 그를 끌어내어 불사르라
38:24 Now about three months after this, word came to Judah that Tamar, his daughter-in-law,
had been acting like a loose woman and was with child. And Judah said, Take her
out and let her be burned.
38:24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah,
saying, Tamar your daughter in law has played the harlot; and also, behold,
she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her
be burnt.
38:25 여인이 끌려나갈 때에 보내어 시부에게 이르되 이 물건 임자로 말미암아
잉태하였나이다 청컨대 보소서 이 도장과 그 끈과 지팡이가 뉘 것이니이까 한지라
38:25 And while she was being taken out, she sent word to her father-in-law, saying, The
man whose property these things are, is the father of my child: say then, whose
are this ring and this cord and this stick?
38:25 When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying,
By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray
you, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
38:26 유다가 그것들을 알아보고 가로되 그는 나보다 옳도다 내가 그를 내 아들
셀라에게 주지 아니하였음이로다 하고 다시는 그를 가까이 하지 아니하였더라
38:26 Then Judah said openly that they were his, and said, She is more upright than I
am, for I did not give her to Shelah my son. And he had no more connection with
her.
38:26 And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She has been more righteous
than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he had sexual contact
with her again no more.
38:27 임산하여 보니 쌍태라
38:27 And when the time came for her to give birth, it was clear that there were two children
in her body.
38:27 And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins
were in her womb.
38:28 해산할 때에 손이 나오는지라 산파가 가로되 이는 먼저 나온 자라 하고 홍사를
가져 그 손에 매었더니
38:28 And while she was in the act of giving birth, one of them put out his hand; and
the woman who was with her put a red thread round his hand, saying, This one came
out first.
38:28 And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand:
and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This
came out first.
38:29 그 손을 도로 들이며 그 형제가 나오는지라 산파가 가로되 네가 어찌하여
터치고 나오느냐 한 고로 그 이름을 베레스라 불렀고
38:29 But then he took his hand back again, and his brother came first to birth: and the
woman said, What an opening you have made for yourself! So he was named Perez.
38:29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother
came out: and she said, How have you broken forth? this breach be upon you:
therefore his name was called Pharez.
38:30 그 형제 곧 손에 홍사 있는 자가 뒤에 나오니 그 이름을 세라라 불렀더라
38:30 And then his brother came out, with the red thread round his hand, and he was named
Zerah.
38:30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon
his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
39:1 요셉이 이끌려 애굽에 내려가매 바로의 신하 시위대장 애굽 사람 보디발이
그를 그리로 데려간 이스마엘 사람의 손에서 그를 사니라
39:1 Now Joseph was taken down to Egypt; and Potiphar the Egyptian, a captain of high
position in Pharaoh's house, got him for a price from the Ishmaelites who had taken
him there.
39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh,
captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites,
which had brought him down thither.
39:2 여호와께서 요셉과 함께 하시므로 그가 형통한 자가 되어 그 주인 애굽 사람의
집에 있으니
39:2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he did well; and he was living in the house of
his master the Egyptian.
39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was
in the house of his master the Egyptian.
39:3 그 주인이 여호와께서 그와 함께 하심을 보며 또 여호와께서 그의 범사에
형통케 하심을 보았더라
39:3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, making everything he did go well.
39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made
all that he did to prosper in his hand.
39:4 요셉이 그 주인에게 은혜를 입어 섬기매 그가 요셉으로 가정 총무를 삼고
자기 소유를 다 그 손에 위임하니
39:4 And having a high opinion of Joseph as his servant, he made him the overseer of
his house and gave him control over all he had.
39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made
him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
39:5 그가 요셉에게 자기 집과 그 모든 소유물을 주관하게 한 때부터 여호와께서
요셉을 위하여 그 애굽 사람의 집에 복을 내리시므로 여호와의 복이 그의 집과 밭에
있는 모든 소유에 미친지라
39:5 And from the time when he made him overseer and gave him control of all his property,
the blessing of the Lord was with the Egyptian, because of Joseph; the blessing
of the Lord was on all he had, in the house and in the field.
39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his
house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house
for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in
the house, and in the field.
39:6 주인이 그 소유를 다 요셉의 손에 위임하고 자기 식료 외에는 간섭하지 아니하였더라
요셉은 용모가 준수하고 아담하였더라
39:6 And he gave Joseph control of all his property, keeping no account of anything,
but only the food which was put before him. Now Joseph was very beautiful in form
and face.
39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought
he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and
well favoured.
39:7 그 후에 그 주인의 처가 요셉에게 눈짓하다가 동침하기를 청하니
39:7 And after a time, his master's wife, looking on Joseph with desire, said to him,
Be my lover.
39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast
her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
39:8 요셉이 거절하며 자기 주인의 처에게 이르되 나의 주인이 가중 제반 소유를
간섭지 아니하고 다 내 손에 위임하였으니
39:8 But he would not, and said to her, You see that my master keeps no account of what
I do in his house, and has put all his property in my control;
39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master knows
not what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my
hand;
39:9 이 집에는 나보다 큰 이가 없으며 주인이 아무것도 내게 금하지 아니하였어도
금한 것은 당신뿐이니 당신은 자기 아내임이라 그런즉 내가 어찌 이 큰 악을 행하여
하나님께 득죄하리이까
39:9 So that no one has more authority in this house than I have; he has kept nothing
back from me but you, because you are his wife; how then may I do this great wrong,
sinning against God?
39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back
any thing from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this
great wickedness, and sin against God?
39:10 여인이 날마다 요셉에게 청하였으나 요셉이 듣지 아니하여 동침하지 아니할
뿐더러 함께 있지도 아니하니라
39:10 And day after day she went on requesting Joseph to come to her and be her lover,
but he would not give ear to her.
39:10 And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened
not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
39:11 그러할 때에 요셉이 시무하러 그 집에 들어갔더니 그 집 사람은 하나도
거기 없었더라
39:11 Now one day he went into the house to do his work; and not one of the men of the
house was inside.
39:11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house
to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
39:12 그 여인이 그 옷을 잡고 가로되 나와 동침하자 요셉이 자기 옷을 그 손에
버리고 도망하여 나가매
39:12 And pulling at his coat, she said, Come to my bed; but slipping out of his coat,
he went running away.
39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left
his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
39:13 그가 요셉이 그 옷을 자기 손에 버려두고 도망하여 나감을 보고
39:13 And when she saw that he had got away, letting her keep his coat,
39:13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her
hand, and was fled forth,
39:14 집 사람들을 불러서 그들에게 이르되 보라 주인이 히브리 사람을 우리에게
데려다가 우리를 희롱하게 하도다 그가 나를 겁간코자 내게로 들어오기로 내가 크게
소리질렀더니
39:14 She sent for the men of her house and said to them, See, he has let a Hebrew come
here and make sport of us; he came to my bed, and I gave a loud cry;
39:14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spoke unto them, saying,
See, he has brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie
with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
39:15 그가 나의 소리질러 부름을 듣고 그 옷을 내게 버려두고 도망하여 나갔느니라
하고
39:15 And hearing it he went running out without his coat.
39:15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried,
that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
39:16 그 옷을 곁에 두고 자기 주인이 집으로 돌아오기를 기다려
39:16 And she kept his coat by her, till his master came back.
39:16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
39:17 이 말로 그에게 고하여 가로되 당신이 우리에게 데려온 히브리 종이 나를
희롱코자 내게로 들어왔기로
39:17 Then she gave him the same story, saying, The Hebrew servant whom you have taken
into our house came in to make sport of me;
39:17 And she spoke unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew
servant, which you have brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:
39:18 내가 소리질러 불렀더니 그가 그 옷을 내게 버려두고 도망하여 나갔나이다
39:18 And when I gave a loud cry he went running out without his coat.
39:18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left
his garment with me, and fled out.
39:19 ○ 주인이 그 아내가 자기에게 고하기를 당신의 종이 내게 이같이 행하였다
하는 말을 듣고 심히 노한지라
39:19 And hearing his wife's account of what his servant had done, he became very angry.
39:19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which
she spoke unto him, saying, After this manner did your servant to me; that his
wrath was kindled.
39:20 이에 요셉의 주인이 그를 잡아 옥에 넣으니 그 옥은 왕의 죄수를 가두는
곳이었더라 요셉이 옥에 갇혔으나
39:20 And Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, in the place where the king's
prisoners were kept in chains, and he was there in the prison-house.
39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place
where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
39:21 여호와께서 요셉과 함께 하시고 그에게 인자를 더하사 전옥에게 은혜를
받게 하시매
39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and was good to him, and made the keeper of the prison
his friend.
39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour
in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
39:22 전옥이 옥중 죄수를 다 요셉의 손에 맡기므로 그 제반 사무를 요셉이 처리하고
39:22 And the keeper of the prison put all the prisoners under Joseph's control, and he
was responsible for whatever was done there.
39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners
that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
39:23 전옥은 그의 손에 맡긴 것을 무엇이든지 돌아보지 아니하였으니 이는 여호와께서
요셉과 함께 하심이라 여호와께서 그의 범사에 형통케 하셨더라
39:23 And the keeper of the prison gave no attention to anything which was under his care,
because the Lord was with him; and the Lord made everything he did go well.
39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his
hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it
to prosper.
40:1 그 후에 애굽 왕의 술 맡은 자와 떡 굽는 자가 그 주 애굽 왕에게 범죄한지라
40:1 Now after these things the chief servant who had the care of the wine, and the chief
bread-maker in Pharaoh's house, did something against Pharaoh's orders;
40:1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king
of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
40:2 바로가 그 두 관원장 곧 술 맡은 관원장과 떡 굽는 관원장에게 노하여
40:2 And Pharaoh was angry with his two servants, with the chief wine-servant and the
chief bread-maker;
40:2 And Pharaoh was angry against two of his officers, against the chief
of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
40:3 그들을 시위대장의 집 안에 있는 옥에 가두니 곧 요셉의 갇힌 곳이라
40:3 And he put them in prison under the care of the captain of the army, in the same
prison where Joseph himself was shut up.
40:3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into
the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
40:4 시위대장이 요셉으로 그들에게 수종하게 하매 요셉이 그들을 섬겼더라 그들이
갇힌 지 수일이라
40:4 And the captain put them in Joseph's care, and he did what was needed for them;
and they were kept in prison for some time.
40:4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served
them: and they continued a season in ward.
40:5 옥에 갇힌 애굽 왕의 술 맡은 자와 떡 굽는 자 두 사람이 하룻밤에 꿈을
꾸니 각기 몽조가 다르더라
40:5 And these two had a dream on the same night; the chief wine-servant and the chief
bread-maker of the king of Egypt, who were in prison, the two of them had dreams
with a special sense.
40:5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night,
each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker
of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
40:6 아침에 요셉이 들어가 보니 그들에게 근심 빛이 있는지라
40:6 And in the morning when Joseph came to them he saw that they were looking sad.
40:6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and,
behold, they were sad.
40:7 요셉이 그 주인의 집에 자기와 함께 갇힌 바로의 관원장에게 묻되 당신들이
오늘 어찌하여 근심 빛이 있나이까
40:7 And he said to the servants of Pharaoh who were in prison with him, Why are you
looking so sad?
40:7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his
lord's house, saying, Wherefore look all of you so sadly to day?
40:8 그들이 그에게 이르되 우리가 꿈을 꾸었으나 이를 해석할 자가 없도다 요셉이
그들에게 이르되 해석은 하나님께 있지 아니하니이까 청컨대 내게 고하소서
40:8 Then they said to him, We have had a dream, and no one is able to give us the sense.
And Joseph said, Does not the sense of dreams come from God? what was your dream?
40:8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter
of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell
me them, I pray you.
40:9 ○ 술 맡은 관원장이 그 꿈을 요셉에게 말하여 가로되 내가 꿈에 보니 내
앞에 포도나무가 있는데
40:9 Then the chief wine-servant gave Joseph an account of his dream, and said, In my
dream I saw a vine before me;
40:9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my
dream, behold, a vine was before me;
40:10 그 나무에 세 가지가 있고 싹이 나서 꽃이 피고 포도송이가 익었고
40:10 And on the vine were three branches; and it seemed as if it put out buds and flowers,
and from them came grapes ready for cutting.
40:10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded,
and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
40:11 내 손에 바로의 잔이 있기로 내가 포도를 따서 그 즙을 바로의 잔에 짜서
그 잔을 바로의 손에 드렸노라
40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and crushing them into Pharaoh's
cup, gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed
them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
40:12 요셉이 그에게 이르되 그 해석이 이러하니 세 가지는 사흘이라
40:12 Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three branches are three
days;
40:12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three
branches are three days:
40:13 지금부터 사흘 안에 바로가 당신의 머리를 들고 당신의 전직을 회복하리니
당신이 이왕에 술 맡은 자가 되었을 때에 하던 것 같이 바로의 잔을 그 손에 받들게
되리이다
40:13 After three days Pharaoh will give you honour, and put you back into your place,
and you will give him his cup as you did before, when you were his wine-servant.
40:13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up yours head, and restore
you unto your place: and you shall deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after
the former manner when you were his butler.
40:14 당신이 득의하거든 나를 생각하고 내게 은혜를 베풀어서 내 사정을 바로에게
고하여 이 집에서 나를 건져내소서
40:14 But keep me in mind when things go well for you, and be good to me and say a good
word for me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison:
40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with you, and show kindness,
I pray you, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of
this house:
40:15 나는 히브리 땅에서 끌려온 자요 여기서도 옥에 갇힐 일은 행치 아니하였나이다
40:15 For truly I was taken by force from the land of the Hebrews; and I have done nothing
for which I might be put in prison.
40:15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here
also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
40:16 ○ 떡 굽는 관원장이 그 해석이 길함을 보고 요셉에게 이르되 나도 꿈에
보니 흰 떡 세 광주리가 내 머리에 있고
40:16 Now when the chief bread-maker saw that the first dream had a good sense, he said
to Joseph, I had a dream; and in my dream there were three baskets of white bread
on my head;
40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said
unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets
on my head:
40:17 그 윗광주리에 바로를 위하여 만든 각종 구운 식물이 있는데 새들이 내
머리의 광주리에서 그것을 먹더라
40:17 And in the top basket were all sorts of cooked meats for Pharaoh; and the birds
were taking them out of the baskets on my head.
40:17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of baked food for
Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
40:18 요셉이 대답하여 가로되 그 해석은 이러하니 세 광주리는 사흘이라
40:18 Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three baskets are three days;
40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The
three baskets are three days:
40:19 지금부터 사흘 안에 바로가 당신의 머리를 끊고 당신을 나무에 달리니 새들이
당신의 고기를 뜯어 먹으리이다 하더니
40:19 After three days Pharaoh will take you out of prison, hanging you on a tree, so
that your flesh will be food for birds.
40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up your head from off you,
and shall hang you on a tree; and the birds shall eat your flesh from off you.
40:20 제 삼 일은 바로의 탄일이라 바로가 모든 신하를 위하여 잔치할 때에 술
맡은 관원장과 떡 굽는 관원장으로 머리를 그 신하 중에 들게 하니라
40:20 Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his servants;
and he gave honour to the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker among the
others.
40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that
he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief
butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
40:21 바로의 술 맡은 관원장은 전직을 회복하매 그가 잔을 바로의 손에 받들어
드렸고
40:21 And he put the chief wine-servant back in his old place; and he gave the cup into
Pharaoh's hand.
40:21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he
gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:
40:22 떡 굽는 관원장은 매여 달리니 요셉이 그들에게 해석함과 같이 되었으나
40:22 But the chief bread-maker was put to death by hanging, as Joseph had said.
40:22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
40:23 술 맡은 관원장이 요셉을 기억지 않고 잊었더라
40:23 But the wine-servant did not keep Joseph in mind or give a thought to him.
40:23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgotten about him.
