1:1 Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the saints who are living in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

1:2 Who, through the purpose of God, have been made holy by the Spirit, disciples of Jesus, made clean by his blood: May you have grace and peace in full measure.
1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his great mercy has given us a new birth and a living hope by the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1:4 And a heritage fair, holy and for ever new, waiting in heaven for you,
1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1:5 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¸»¼¼¿¡ ³ªÅ¸³»±â·Î ¿¹ºñÇϽŠ±¸¿øÀ» ¾ò±â À§ÇÏ¿© ¹ÏÀ½À¸·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ´É·ÂÀ¸·Î º¸È£ÇϽÉÀ» ÀÔ¾ú³ª´Ï
1:5 Who, by the power of God are kept, through faith, for that salvation, which will be seen at the last day.
1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1:6 You have cause for great joy in this, though it may have been necessary for you to be troubled for a little time, being tested in all sorts of ways,
1:6 Wherein all of you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, all of you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

1:7 ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ ½Ã·ÃÀÌ ºÒ·Î ¿¬´ÜÇÏ¿©µµ ¾ø¾îÁú ±Ýº¸´Ù ´õ ±ÍÇÏ¿© ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ³ªÅ¸³ª½Ç ¶§¿¡ ĪÂù°ú ¿µ±¤°ú Á¸±Í¸¦ ¾ò°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó
1:7 So that the true metal of your faith, being of much greater value than gold (which, though it comes to an end, is tested by fire), may come to light in praise and glory and honour, at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1:8 To whom your love is given, though you have not seen him; and the faith which you have in him, though you do not see him now, gives you joy greater than words and full of glory:
1:8 Whom having not seen, all of you love; in whom, though now all of you see him not, yet believing, all of you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

1:9 For so you have the true end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1:10 ÀÌ ±¸¿ø¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿©´Â ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÓÇÒ ÀºÇý¸¦ ¿¹¾ðÇÏ´ø ¼±ÁöÀÚµéÀÌ ¿¬±¸ÇÏ°í ºÎÁö·±È÷ »ìÆì¼­
1:10 For the prophets who gave the news of the grace which would come to you, made search with all care for knowledge of this salvation;
1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

1:11 Attempting to see what sort of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when it gave witness to the pains which Christ would undergo and the glories which would come after them.
1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit (o. pneuma) of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

1:12 ÀÌ ¼¶±ä ¹Ù°¡ Àڱ⸦ À§ÇÑ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä ³ÊÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÑ °ÍÀÓÀÌ °è½Ã·Î ¾Ë°Ô µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï ÀÌ°ÍÀº Çϴ÷κÎÅÍ º¸³»½Å ¼º·ÉÀ» ÈûÀÔ¾î º¹À½À» ÀüÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé·Î ÀÌÁ¦ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô °íÇÑ °ÍÀÌ¿ä õ»çµéµµ »ìÆì º¸±â¸¦ ¿øÇÏ´Â °ÍÀ̴϶ó
1:12 And it was made clear to those prophets that they were God's servants not for themselves but for you, to give you word of the things which have now come to your ears from the preachers of the good news through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; things which even angels have a desire to see.
1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

1:13 ¡Û ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ³ÊÈñ ¸¶À½ÀÇ Ç㸮¸¦ µ¿ÀÌ°í ±Ù½ÅÇÏ¿© ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ³ªÅ¸³ª½Ç ¶§¿¡ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô °¡Á®¿Ã ÀºÇý¸¦ ¿ÂÀüÈ÷ ¹Ù¶öÁö¾î´Ù
1:13 So make your minds ready, and keep on the watch, hoping with all your power for the grace which is to come to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1:14 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¼øÁ¾ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ½Äó·³ ÀÌÀü ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ÁÀ´ø ³ÊÈñ »ç¿åÀ» º» »ïÁö ¸»°í
1:14 Like children ruled by God, do not go back to the old desires of the time when you were without knowledge:
1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

1:15 ¿ÀÁ÷ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ºÎ¸£½Å °Å·èÇÑ ÀÚó·³ ³ÊÈñµµ ¸ðµç Çà½Ç¿¡ °Å·èÇÑ ÀÚ°¡ µÇ¶ó
1:15 But be holy in every detail of your lives, as he, whose servants you are, is holy;
1:15 But as he which has called you is holy, so be all of you holy in all manner of conversation;

1:16 ±â·ÏÇÏ¿´À¸µÇ ³»°¡ °Å·èÇÏ´Ï ³ÊÈñµµ °Å·èÇÒÁö¾î´Ù Çϼ̴À´Ï¶ó
1:16 Because it has been said in the Writings, You are to be holy, for I am holy.
1:16 Because it is written, Be all of you holy; for I am holy.

1:17 ¿Ü¸ð·Î º¸½ÃÁö ¾Ê°í °¢ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ÇàÀ§´ë·Î ÆÇ´ÜÇϽô ÀÚ¸¦ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Æ¹öÁö¶ó ºÎ¸¥Áï ³ÊÈñÀÇ ³ª±×³×·Î ÀÖÀ» ¶§¸¦ µÎ·Á¿òÀ¸·Î Áö³»¶ó
1:17 And if you give the name of Father to him who, judging every man by his acts, has no respect for a man's position, then go in fear while you are on this earth:
1:17 And if all of you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

1:18 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Ë°Å´Ï¿Í ³ÊÈñ Á¶»óÀÇ À¯ÀüÇÑ ¸Á·ÉµÈ Çà½Ç¿¡¼­ ±¸¼ÓµÈ °ÍÀº ÀºÀ̳ª ±Ý °°ÀÌ ¾ø¾îÁú °ÍÀ¸·Î ÇÑ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä
1:18 Being conscious that you have been made free from that foolish way of life which was your heritage from your fathers, not through a payment of things like silver or gold which come to destruction,
1:18 Forasmuch as all of you know that all of you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1:19 ¿ÀÁ÷ Èì ¾ø°í Á¡ ¾ø´Â ¾î¸° ¾ç °°Àº ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ º¸¹è·Î¿î ÇÇ·Î ÇÑ °ÍÀ̴϶ó
1:19 But through holy blood, like that of a clean and unmarked lamb, even the blood of Christ:
1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1:20 ±×´Â â¼¼ ÀüºÎÅÍ ¹Ì¸® ¾Ë¸®½Å ¹Ù µÈ ÀÚ³ª ÀÌ ¸»¼¼¿¡ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ³ªÅ¸³»½Å ¹Ù µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï
1:20 Who was marked out by God before the making of the world, but was caused to be seen in these last times for you,
1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

1:21 ³ÊÈñ´Â Àú¸¦ Á×Àº ÀÚ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ »ì¸®½Ã°í ¿µ±¤À» ÁֽŠÇϳª´ÔÀ» ±×¸®½ºµµ·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ ¹Ï´Â ÀÚ´Ï ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½°ú ¼Ò¸ÁÀÌ Çϳª´Ô²² ÀÖ°Ô Çϼ̴À´Ï¶ó
1:21 Who through him have faith in God who took him up again from the dead into glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.
1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

1:22 ³ÊÈñ°¡ Áø¸®¸¦ ¼øÁ¾ÇÔÀ¸·Î ³ÊÈñ ¿µÈ¥À» ±ú²ýÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¿© °ÅÁþÀÌ ¾øÀÌ ÇüÁ¦¸¦ »ç¶ûÇϱ⿡ À̸£·¶À¸´Ï ¸¶À½À¸·Î ¶ß°Ì°Ô ÇÇÂ÷ »ç¶ûÇ϶ó
1:22 And as you have made your souls clean, being ruled by what is true, and loving one another without deceit, see that your love is warm and from the heart:
1:22 Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (o. pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1:23 ³ÊÈñ°¡ °Åµì³­ °ÍÀÌ ½â¾îÁú ¾¾·Î µÈ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä ½âÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÒ ¾¾·Î µÈ °ÍÀÌ´Ï Çϳª´ÔÀÇ »ì¾Æ ÀÖ°í Ç×»ó ÀÖ´Â ¸»¾¸À¸·Î µÇ¾ú´À´Ï¶ó
1:23 Because you have had a new birth, not from the seed of man, but from eternal seed, through the word of a living and unchanging God.
1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (o. logos) of God, which lives and abides for ever.

1:24 For it is said, All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of the grass. The grass becomes dry and the flower dead:
1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:

1:25 ¿ÀÁ÷ ÁÖÀÇ ¸»¾¸Àº ¼¼¼¼Åä·Ï ÀÖµµ´Ù  ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀüÇÑ º¹À½ÀÌ °ð ÀÌ ¸»¾¸À̴϶ó
1:25 But the word of the Lord is eternal. And this is the word of the good news which was given to you.
1:25 But the word (o. rhema) of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word (o. rhema) which by the gospel is preached unto you.

2:1 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ¸ðµç ¾Çµ¶°ú ¸ðµç ±ËÈá°ú ¿Ü½Ä°ú ½Ã±â¿Í ¸ðµç ºñ¹æÇÏ´Â ¸»À» ¹ö¸®°í
2:1 So putting away all wrongdoing, and all tricks and deceits and envies and evil talk,
2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speaking,

2:2 °«³­ ¾ÆÀÌµé °°ÀÌ ¼øÀüÇÏ°í ½Å·ÉÇÑ Á¥À» »ç¸ðÇ϶ó ÀÌ´Â ÀÌ·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ ³ÊÈñ·Î ±¸¿ø¿¡ À̸£µµ·Ï ÀÚ¶ó°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó
2:2 Be full of desire for the true milk of the word, as babies at their mothers' breasts, so that you may go on to salvation;
2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that all of you may grow thereby:

2:3 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÁÖÀÇ ÀÎÀÚÇϽÉÀ» ¸Àº¸¾ÒÀ¸¸é ±×¸®Ç϶ó
2:3 If you have had a taste of the grace of the Lord:
2:3 If so be all of you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

2:4 »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô´Â ¹ö¸° ¹Ù°¡ µÇ¾úÀ¸³ª Çϳª´Ô²²´Â ÅÃÇϽÉÀ» ÀÔÀº º¸¹è·Î¿î »ê µ¹À̽Š¿¹¼ö¿¡°Ô ³ª¾Æ¿Í
2:4 To whom you come, as to a living stone, not honoured by men, but of great and special value to God;
2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

2:5 ³ÊÈñµµ »ê µ¹ °°ÀÌ ½Å·ÉÇÑ ÁýÀ¸·Î ¼¼¿öÁö°í ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµ·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ±â»Ú°Ô ¹ÞÀ¸½Ç ½Å·ÉÇÑ Á¦»ç¸¦ µå¸± °Å·èÇÑ Á¦»çÀåÀÌ µÉÁö´Ï¶ó
2:5 You, as living stones, are being made into a house of the spirit, a holy order of priests, making those offerings of the spirit which are pleasing to God through Jesus Christ.
2:5 All of you also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

2:6 °æ¿¡ ±â·ÏÇÏ¿´À¸µÇ  º¸¶ó ³»°¡ ÅÃÇÑ º¸¹è·Ó°í ¿ä±äÇÑ ¸ðÅüÀÌ µ¹À» ½Ã¿Â¿¡ µÎ³ë´Ï Àú¸¦ ¹Ï´Â ÀÚ´Â ºÎ²ô·¯¿òÀ» ´çÄ¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇϸ®¶ó  ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï  
2:6 Because it is said in the Writings, See, I am placing a keystone in Zion, of great and special value; and the man who has faith in him will not be put to shame.
2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.

2:7 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ¹Ï´Â ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô´Â º¸¹èÀ̳ª ¹ÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Â ÀÚ¿¡°Ô´Â  °ÇÃàÀÚµéÀÇ ¹ö¸° ±× µ¹ÀÌ ¸ðÅüÀÌÀÇ ¸Ó¸´µ¹ÀÌ µÇ°í
2:7 And the value is for you who have faith; but it is said for those without faith, The very stone which the builders put on one side, was made the chief stone of the building;
2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

2:8 ¶ÇÇÑ  ºÎµúÈ÷´Â µ¹°ú °ÅÄ¡´Â ¹Ý¼®ÀÌ µÇ¾ú´Ù  Çϴ϶ó ÀúÈñ°¡ ¸»¾¸À» ¼øÁ¾Ä¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇϹǷΠ³Ñ¾îÁö³ª´Ï ÀÌ´Â ÀúÈñ¸¦ ÀÌ·¸°Ô Á¤ÇϽŠ°ÍÀ̶ó
2:8 And, A stone of falling, a rock of trouble; the word is the cause of their fall, because they go against it, and this was the purpose of God.
2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, (o. logos) being disobedient: unto which also they were appointed.

2:9 ¿ÀÁ÷ ³ÊÈñ´Â ÅÃÇϽŠÁ·¼ÓÀÌ¿ä ¿Õ °°Àº Á¦»çÀåµéÀÌ¿ä °Å·èÇÑ ³ª¶ó¿ä ±×ÀÇ ¼ÒÀ¯µÈ ¹é¼ºÀÌ´Ï ÀÌ´Â ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ¾îµÎ¿î µ¥¼­ ºÒ·¯ ³»¾î ±×ÀÇ ±âÀÌÇÑ ºû¿¡ µé¾î°¡°Ô ÇϽŠÀÚÀÇ ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ´öÀ» ¼±ÀüÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇϽÉÀ̶ó
2:9 But you are a special people, a holy nation, priests and kings, a people given up completely to God, so that you may make clear the virtues of him who took you out of the dark into the light of heaven.
2:9 But all of you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, an exclusive people; that all of you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

2:10 ³ÊÈñ°¡ Àü¿¡´Â ¹é¼ºÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï´õ´Ï ÀÌÁ¦´Â Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¹é¼ºÀÌ¿ä Àü¿¡´Â ±àÈáÀ» ¾òÁö ¸øÇÏ¿´´õ´Ï ÀÌÁ¦´Â ±àÈáÀ» ¾òÀº Àڴ϶ó
2:10 In the past you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; then there was no mercy for you, but now mercy has been given to you.
2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

2:11 ¡Û »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé¾Æ ³ª±×³×¿Í ÇàÀÎ °°Àº ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ±ÇÇϳë´Ï ¿µÈ¥À» °Å½º·Á ½Î¿ì´Â À°Ã¼ÀÇ Á¤¿åÀ» Á¦¾îÇ϶ó
2:11 My loved ones, I make this request with all my heart, that, as those for whom this world is a strange country, you will keep yourselves from the desires of the flesh which make war against the soul;
2:11 Dearly beloved, I plead to you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

3:1 Wives, be ruled by your husbands; so that even if some of them give no attention to the word, their hearts may be changed by the behaviour of their wives,
3:1 Likewise, all of you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, (o. logos) they also may without the word (o. logos) be won by the conversation of the wives;

3:7 And you husbands, give thought to your way of life with your wives, giving honour to the woman who is the feebler vessel, but who has an equal part in the heritage of the grace of life; so that you may not be kept from prayer.
3:7 Likewise, all of you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

3:20 Who, in the days of Noah, went against God's orders; but God in his mercy kept back the punishment, while Noah got ready the ark, in which a small number, that is to say eight persons, got salvation through water:

4:2 So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.
4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

4:3 Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;
4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4:4 And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:
4:4 Wherein they think it strange that all of you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (o. pneuma)

4:11 If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.
4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

4:17 For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?
4:17 For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

5:1 I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you:
5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

5:2 Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind;
5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy illegal gain, but of a ready mind;

5:5 And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low.
5:5 Likewise, all of you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

5:10 And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;
5:10 But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that all of you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

1:8 For if you have these things in good measure, they will make you fertile and full of fruit in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that all of you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1:9 For the man who has not these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having no memory of how he was made clean from his old sins.
1:9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see far off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

1:10 For this reason, my brothers, take all the more care to make your selection and approval certain; for if you do these things you will never have a fall:
1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if all of you do these things, all of you shall never fall:

1:12 For this reason I will be ready at all times to keep your memory of these things awake, though you have the knowledge of them now and are well based in your present faith.
1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though all of you know them, and be established in the present truth.

1:14 For I am conscious that in a short time I will have to put off this tent of flesh, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.

1:16 For when we gave you news of the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our teaching was not based on stories put together by art, but we were eye-witnesses of his glory.
1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

1:17 For God the Father gave him honour and glory, when such a voice came to him out of the great glory, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.

1:19 And so the words of the prophets are made more certain; and it is well for you to give attention to them as to a light shining in a dark place, till the dawn comes and the morning star is seen in your hearts;
1:19 We have also a more sure word (o. logos) of prophecy; unto which all of you do well that all of you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

2:1 But there were false prophets among the people, as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly put forward wrong teachings for your destruction, even turning away from the Lord who gave himself for them; whose destruction will come quickly, and they themselves will be the cause of it.
2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2:2 And a great number will go with them in their evil ways, through whom the true way will have a bad name.
2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

2:3 And in their desire for profit they will come to you with words of deceit, like traders doing business in souls: whose punishment has been ready for a long time and their destruction is watching for them.
2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words (o. logos) make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.

2:4 For if God did not have pity for the angels who did evil, but sent them down into hell, to be kept in chains of eternal night till they were judged;
2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2:5 And did not have mercy on the world which then was, but only kept safe Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he let loose the waters over the world of the evil-doers;
2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2:6 And sent destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah, burning them up with fire as an example to those whose way of life might in the future be unpleasing to him;
2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly;

2:7 And kept safe Lot, the upright man, who was deeply troubled by the unclean life of the evil-doers
2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

2:8 (Because the soul of that upright man living among them was pained from day to day by seeing and hearing their crimes):
2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

2:9 The Lord is able to keep the upright safe in the time of testing, and to keep evil-doers under punishment till the day of judging;
2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

2:10 But specially those who go after the unclean desires of the flesh, and make sport of authority. Ready to take chances, uncontrolled, they have no fear of saying evil of those in high places:
2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Arrogant are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

2:11 Though the angels, who are greater in strength and power, do not make use of violent language against them before the Lord.
2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

2:12 But these men, like beasts without reason, whose natural use is to be taken and put to death, crying out against things of which they have no knowledge, will undergo that same destruction which they are designing for others;
2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

2:13 For the evil which overtakes them is the reward of their evil-doing: such men take their pleasure in the delights of the flesh even in the daytime; they are like the marks of a disease, like poisoned wounds among you, feasting together with you in joy;
2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceits while they feast with you;

2:14 Having eyes full of evil desire, never having enough of sin; turning feeble souls out of the true way; they are children of cursing, whose hearts are well used to bitter envy;
2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

2:15 Turning out of the true way, they have gone wandering in error, after the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who was pleased to take payment for wrongdoing;
2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

2:16 But his wrongdoing was pointed out to him: an ass, talking with a man's voice, put a stop to the error of the prophet.
2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

2:17 These are fountains without water, and mists before a driving storm; for whom the eternal night is kept in store.
2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

2:18 For with high-sounding false words, making use of the attraction of unclean desires of the flesh, they get into their power those newly made free from those who are living in error;
2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

2:19 Saying that they will be free, while they themselves are the servants of destruction; because whatever gets the better of a man makes a servant of him.
2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

2:20 For if, after they have got free from the unclean things of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again taken in the net and overcome, their last condition is worse than their first.
2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

2:21 For it would have been better for them to have had no knowledge of the way of righteousness, than to go back again from the holy law which was given to them, after having knowledge of it.
2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

2:22 They are an example of that true saying, The dog has gone back to the food it had put out, and the pig which had been washed to its rolling in the dirty earth.
2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

3:1 »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé¾Æ ³»°¡ ÀÌÁ¦ ÀÌ µÑ° ÆíÁö¸¦ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ¾²³ë´Ï ÀÌ µÑ·Î ³ÊÈñ Áø½ÇÇÑ ¸¶À½À» Àϱú¿ö »ý°¢ÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¿©
3:1 My loved ones, this is now my second letter to you, and in this as in the first, I am attempting to keep your true minds awake;
3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

3:2 °ð °Å·èÇÑ ¼±ÁöÀÚÀÇ ¿¹¾ðÇÑ ¸»¾¸°ú ÁÖ µÇ½Å ±¸ÁÖ²²¼­ ³ÊÈñÀÇ »çµµµé·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ ¸íÇϽŠ°ÍÀ» ±â¾ïÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á Çϳë¶ó
3:2 So that you may keep in mind the words of the holy prophets in the past, and the law of the Lord and Saviour which was given to you by his Apostles.
3:2 That all of you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3:3 ¸ÕÀú ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ¾ËÁö´Ï ¸»¼¼¿¡ ±â·ÕÇÏ´Â ÀÚµéÀÌ ¿Í¼­ ÀÚ±âÀÇ Á¤¿åÀ» ÁÀ¾Æ ÇàÇÏ¸ç ±â·ÕÇÏ¿©
3:3 Having first of all the knowledge that in the last days there will be men who, ruled by their evil desires, will make sport of holy things,
3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

3:4 °¡·ÎµÇ ÁÖÀÇ °­¸²ÇϽŴٴ ¾à¼ÓÀÌ ¾îµð ÀÖ´À´¢ Á¶»óµéÀÌ ÀÜ ÈķκÎÅÍ ¸¸¹°ÀÌ Ã³À½ âÁ¶ÇÒ ¶§¿Í °°ÀÌ ±×³É ÀÖ´Ù ÇÏ´Ï
3:4 Saying, Where is the hope of his coming? From the death of the fathers till now everything has gone on as it was from the making of the world.
3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

3:5 ÀÌ´Â ÇÏ´ÃÀÌ ¿¾ÀûºÎÅÍ ÀÖ´Â °Í°ú ¶¥ÀÌ ¹°¿¡¼­ ³ª¿Í ¹°·Î ¼º¸³ÇÑ °Íµµ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¸»¾¸À¸·Î µÈ °ÍÀ» ÀúÈñ°¡ ºÎ·¯ ÀØÀ¸·Á ÇÔÀ̷δÙ
3:5 But in taking this view they put out of their minds the memory that in the old days there was a heaven, and an earth lifted out of the water and circled by water, by the word of God;
3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word (o. logos) of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

3:6 ÀÌ·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ ±×¶§ ¼¼»óÀº ¹°ÀÇ ³ÑħÀ¸·Î ¸ê¸ÁÇÏ¿´À¸µÇ
3:6 And that the world which then was came to an end through the overflowing of the waters.
3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

3:7 ÀÌÁ¦ Çϴðú ¶¥Àº ±× µ¿ÀÏÇÑ ¸»¾¸À¸·Î ºÒ»ç¸£±â À§ÇÏ¿© °£¼öÇϽŠ¹Ù µÇ¾î °æ°ÇÄ¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇÑ »ç¶÷µéÀÇ ½ÉÆÇ°ú ¸ê¸ÁÀÇ ³¯±îÁö º¸Á¸ÇÏ¿© µÎ½Å °ÍÀ̴϶ó
3:7 But the present heaven and the present earth have been kept for destruction by fire, which is waiting for them on the day of the judging and destruction of evil men.
3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word (o. logos) are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

3:8 ¡Û »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé¾Æ ÁÖ²²´Â ÇÏ·ç°¡ õ ³â °°°í õ ³âÀÌ ÇÏ·ç °°Àº ÀÌ ÇÑ °¡Áö¸¦ ÀØÁö ¸»¶ó
3:8 But, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day.
3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

3:9 ÁÖÀÇ ¾à¼ÓÀº ¾î¶² ÀÌÀÇ ´õµð´Ù°í »ý°¢ÇÏ´Â °Í °°ÀÌ ´õµò °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿ÀÁ÷ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ´ëÇÏ¿© ¿À·¡ ÂüÀ¸»ç ¾Æ¹«µµ ¸ê¸ÁÄ¡ ¾Ê°í ´Ù ȸ°³Çϱ⿡ À̸£±â¸¦ ¿øÇϽôÀ´Ï¶ó
3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways.
3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

3:10 ±×·¯³ª ÁÖÀÇ ³¯ÀÌ µµÀû °°ÀÌ ¿À¸®´Ï ±× ³¯¿¡´Â ÇÏ´ÃÀÌ Å« ¼Ò¸®·Î ¶°³ª°¡°í üÁúÀÌ ¶ß°Å¿î ºÒ¿¡ Ç®¾îÁö°í ¶¥°ú ±× Áß¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¸ðµç ÀÏÀÌ µå·¯³ª¸®·Î´Ù
3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; and in that day the heavens will be rolled up with a great noise, and the substance of the earth will be changed by violent heat, and the world and everything in it will be burned up.
3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

3:11 ÀÌ ¸ðµç °ÍÀÌ ÀÌ·¸°Ô Ç®¾îÁö¸®´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾î¶°ÇÑ »ç¶÷ÀÌ µÇ¾î¾ß ¸¶¶¥ÇÏ´¢ °Å·èÇÑ Çà½Ç°ú °æ°ÇÇÔÀ¸·Î
3:11 Seeing then that all these things are coming to such an end, what sort of persons is it right for you to be, in all holy behaviour and righteousness,
3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought all of you to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

3:12 Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ³¯ÀÌ ÀÓÇϱ⸦ ¹Ù¶óº¸°í °£ÀýÈ÷ »ç¸ðÇ϶ó ±× ³¯¿¡ ÇÏ´ÃÀÌ ºÒ¿¡ Ÿ¼­ Ç®¾îÁö°í üÁúÀÌ ¶ß°Å¿î ºÒ¿¡ ³ì¾ÆÁö·Á´Ï¿Í
3:12 Looking for and truly desiring the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will come to an end through fire, and the substance of the earth will be changed by the great heat?
3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

3:13 ¿ì¸®´Â ±×ÀÇ ¾à¼Ó´ë·Î ÀÇÀÇ °ÅÇÏ´Â ¹Ù »õ Çϴðú »õ ¶¥À» ¹Ù¶óº¸µµ´Ù
3:13 But having faith in his word, we are looking for a new heaven and a new earth, which will be the resting-place of righteousness.
3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.

3:14 ¡Û ±×·¯¹Ç·Î »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé¾Æ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ¹Ù¶óº¸³ª´Ï ÁÖ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ Á¡µµ ¾ø°í Èìµµ ¾øÀÌ Æò°­ °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ³ªÅ¸³ª±â¸¦ Èû¾²¶ó
3:14 For this reason, my loved ones, as you are looking for these things, take great care that when he comes you may be in peace before him, free from sin and every evil thing.
3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that all of you look for such things, be diligent that all of you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

3:15 ¶Ç ¿ì¸® ÁÖÀÇ ¿À·¡ ÂüÀ¸½ÉÀÌ ±¸¿øÀÌ µÉ ÁÙ·Î ¿©±â¶ó ¿ì¸® »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÇüÁ¦ ¹Ù¿ïµµ ±× ¹ÞÀº ÁöÇý´ë·Î ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ½è°í
3:15 And be certain that the long waiting of the Lord is for salvation; even as our brother Paul has said in his letters to you, from the wisdom which was given to him;
3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you;

3:16 ¶Ç ±× ¸ðµç ÆíÁö¿¡µµ ÀÌ·± ÀÏ¿¡ °üÇÏ¿© ¸»ÇÏ¿´À¸µÇ ±× Áß¿¡ ¾Ë±â ¾î·Á¿î °ÍÀÌ ´õ·¯ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï ¹«½ÄÇÑ ÀÚµé°ú ±»¼¼Áö ¸øÇÑ ÀÚµéÀÌ ´Ù¸¥ ¼º°æ°ú °°ÀÌ ±×°Íµµ ¾ïÁö·Î Ç®´Ù°¡ ½º½º·Î ¸ê¸Á¿¡ À̸£´À´Ï¶ó
3:16 And as he said in all his letters, which had to do with these things; in which are some hard sayings, so that, like the rest of the holy Writings, they are twisted by those who are uncertain and without knowledge, to the destruction of their souls.
3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable shift, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

3:17 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î »ç¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚµé¾Æ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ¹Ì¸® ¾Ë¾ÒÀºÁï ¹«¹ýÇÑ ÀÚµéÀÇ ¹ÌȤ¿¡ À̲ø·Á ³ÊÈñ ±»¼¾ µ¥¼­ ¶³¾îÁú±î »ï°¡¶ó
3:17 For this reason, my loved ones, having knowledge of these things before they take place, take care that you are not turned away by the error of the uncontrolled, so falling from your true faith.
3:17 All of you therefore, beloved, seeing all of you know these things before, beware lest all of you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.

3:18 ¿ÀÁ÷ ¿ì¸® ÁÖ °ð ±¸ÁÖ ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ÀºÇý¿Í Àú¸¦ ¾Æ´Â Áö½Ä¿¡¼­ ÀÚ¶ó °¡¶ó ¿µ±¤ÀÌ ÀÌÁ¦¿Í ¿µ¿øÇÑ ³¯±îÁö Àú¿¡°Ô ÀÖÀ»Áö¾î´Ù
3:18 But be increased in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May he have glory now and for ever. So be it.
3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
