1:1 初めに言があった。言は主と共にあった。言は神であった。
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, (o. logos) and the Word (o. logos) was with God, and the Word (o. logos) was God.
1:2 この言は初めに神と共にあった。
1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1:3 すべてのものは。これによってできた。でたもののうち。一つとしてこれによらないものはなかった。
1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
1:4 この言は命であった。そしてこの命は人の光であった。
1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
1:5 光はやみの中で輝いている。そして、やみはこれに勝たなかった。
1:5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
1:6 ここにひとりの人があって、神からつかわされていた。その名をヨハネと言った。
1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 この人はあかしのためにきた。光についてあかしをし、彼によってすべての人が信じるためである。
1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
1:8 彼は光ではなく、ただ、光についてあかしをするためにきたのである。
1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
1:9 すべての人を照らすまことの光であって、世にきた。
1:9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.
1:10 彼は世にいた。そして、世は彼によってできたのであるが、世は彼を知らずにいた。
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
1:11 彼は自分のところにきたのに、自分の民は彼を受けいれなかった。
1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
1:12 しかし、彼を受けいれた者、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、彼は神の子となる力を与えたのである。
1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1:13 それらの人は、血すじによらず、肉の欲によらず、また、人の欲にもよらず、ただ神によって生まれたのである。
1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1:14 そして言は肉体となり、わたしたちのうちに宿った。わたしたちはその栄光を見た。それは父のひとり子としての栄光であった。めぐみとまことに満ちていた。
1:14 And the Word (o. logos) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1:15 ヨハネは彼についてあかしをし、叫んで言った「『わたしのあとに来るかたは、わたしよりすぐれたかたである。わたしよりも先におられたかたである』とわたしが言ったのは、この人のことである」。
1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
1:16 わたしたちすべての者は、その満ち満ちているものの中から受けて、めぐみにめぐみを加えられた。
1:16 And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.
1:17 律法はモーセをとおして与えられ、めぐみとまことは、イエス・キリストをとおしてきたのである。
1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
1:18 神を見た者はまだひとりもいない。ただ父のふところにいるひとりの子なる神だけが、神をあらわしたのである。
1:18 No man has seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
1:19 さて、ユダヤ人たちが、エルサレムから祭司たちやレビ人たちをヨハネのもとにつかわして、「あなたはどなたですか」と問わせたが、その時ヨハネが立てたあかしは、こうであった。
1:19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
1:20 すなわち、彼は告白して否まず、「わたしはキリストではない」と告白した。
1:20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
1:21 そこで、彼らは問うた、「それでは、どなたなのですか、あなたはエリヤですか」。彼は「いや、そうではない」と言った。「では、あの預言者ですか」。彼は「いいえ」と答えた。
1:21 And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
1:22 そこで、彼らは言った、「あなたはどなたですか。わたしたちをつかわした人々に、答を持って行けるようにしていただきたい。あなた自身をだれだと考えているのですか」。
1:22 Then said they unto him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What says you of yourself?
1:23 彼は言った、「わたしは、預言者イザヤが言ったように、『主の道をまっすぐにせよ荒野で呼ばわる者の声』である」。
1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
1:24 つかわされた人たちは、パリサイ人であった。
1:24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
1:25 彼らはヨハネに問うて言った、「では、あなたがキリストでもエリヤでもまたあの預言者でもないのなら、なぜバプテスマを授けるのですか」。
1:25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptize you then, if you be not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?
1:26 ヨハネは彼らに答えて言った、「わたしは水でバプテスマを授けるが、あなたがたの知らないかたが、あなたがたの中にたっておられる。
1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there stands one among you, whom all of you know not;
1:27 それがわたしのあとにおいでになる方であって、わたしはその人のくつひもを解く値うちもない」。
1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
1:28 これらのことは、ヨハネがバプテスマを授けていたヨルダンの向こうのベタニヤであったのである。
1:28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
1:29 その翌日、ヨハネはイエスが自分の方にこられるのを見て言った、「見よ、世の罪を取り除く神の小羊。
1:29 The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.
1:30 『わたしのあとに来るかたは、わたしよりすぐれたかたである。わたしよりも先におられたかたである』とわたしが言ったのは、この人のことである。
1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
1:31 わたしはこのかたを知らなかった。しかし、このかたがイスラエルに現れてくださるそのことのために、わたしはきて、水でバプテスマを授けているのである」。
1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
1:32 ヨハネはまたあかしをして言った、「わたしは、御霊がはとのように天から下って、彼の上にとどまるのを見た。
1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit (o. pneuma) descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
1:33 わたしはこの人を知らなかった。しかし、水でバプテスマを授けるようにと、わたしをおつかわしになったそのかたが、わたしに言われた、『ある人の上に、御霊が下ってとともるのを見たら、その人こそは、御霊によってバプテスマを授けるかたである』。
1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit (o. pneuma) descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)
1:34 わたしはそれを見たので、このかたこそ神の子であると、あかしをしたのである」。
1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
1:35 その翌日、ヨハネはまたふたりの弟子たちと一緒に立っていたが、
1:35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
1:36 イエスが歩いておられるのに目をとめて言った、「見よ、神の小羊」。
1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God!
1:37 そのふたりの弟子は、ヨハネがそう言うのを聞いて、イエスについて行った。
1:37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
1:38 イエスはふり向き、彼らがついてくるのを見て言われた、「なにか願いがあるのか」。彼らは言った、「ラビ（訳して言えば、先生）どこにおとまりなのですか」。
1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and says unto them, What seek all of you? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwell you?
1:39 イエスは彼らに言われた、「きてごらんなさい。そうしたらわかるだろう」。そこで彼らはついて行って、イエスの泊まっておられる所を見た。そして、その日はイエスのところに泊まった。時は午後四時ごろであった。
1:39 He says unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
1:40 ヨハネから聞いて、イエスについて行ったふたりのうちひとりは、シモン・ペテロの兄弟アンデレであった。
1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
1:41 彼はまず自分の兄弟シモンにに出会って言った、「わたしたちはメシヤ（訳せば、キリスト）にいま出会った」。
1:41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and says unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
1:42 そしてシモンをイエスのもとにつれてきた。イエスは彼に目をとめて言われた、「あなたはヨハネの子シモンである。あなたをケバ（訳せば、ペテロ）と呼ぶことにする」。
1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, You are Simon the son of Jona: you shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
1:43 その翌日、イエスはガリラヤに行こうとされたが、ピリポに出会って言われた、「わたしに従ってきなさい」。
1:43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and finds Philip, and says unto him, Follow me.
1:44 ピリポは、アンデレとペテロとの町ベッサイダの人であった。
1:44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
1:45 このピリポがナタナエルに出会って言った、「わたしたちは、モーセが律法の中にしるしており、預言者たちがしるしていた人、ヨセフの子、ナザレのイエスにいま出会った」。
1:45 Philip finds Nathanael, and says unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
1:46 ナタナエルは彼に言った、「ナザレから、なんのよいものが出ようか」。ピリポは彼に言った、「きて見なさい」。
1:46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip says unto him, Come and see.
1:47 イエスはナタナエルが自分の方に来るのを見て、彼について言われた、「見よ、あの人こそ、ほんとうのイスラエル人である。その心には偽りがない」。
1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
1:48 ナタナエルは言った、「どうしてわたしをご存じなのですか」。イエスは答えて言われた、「ピリポがあなたを呼ぶ前に、わたしはあなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見た」。
1:48 Nathanael says unto him, Whence know you me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.
1:49 ナタナエルは答えた、「先生、あなたは神の子です。あなたはイスラエルの王です」。
1:49 Nathanael answered and says unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
1:50 イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見たと、わたしが言ったので信じるのか。これよりも、もっと大きなことを、あなたは見るであろう」。
1:50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto you, I saw you under the fig tree, believe you? you shall see greater things than these.
1:51 また言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく、天が開けて、神の御使たちが人の子の上に上り下りするのを、あなたがたは見るであろう」。
1:51 And he says unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter all of you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
2:1 三日目にガリラヤのカナに婚礼があって、イエスの母がそこにいた。
2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2:2 イエスも弟子たちも、その婚礼に招かれた。
2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
2:3 ぶどう酒がかくなったので、母はイエスに言った、「ぶどう酒がなくなっていまいました」。
2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus says unto him, They have no wine.
2:4 イエスは母に言われた、「婦人よ、あなたは、わたしと、なんの係わりがありますか。わたしの時は、まだきていません」。
2:4 Jesus says unto her, Woman, what have I to do with you? mine hour is not yet come.
2:5 母は僕たちに言った、「このかたが、あなたに言いつけることは、なんでもして下さい」。
2:5 His mother says unto the servants, Whatsoever he says unto you, do it.
2:6 そこには、ユダヤ人のきよめのならわしに従って、それぞれ四、五斗もはいる石の水がめが、六つ置いてあった。
2:6 And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
2:7 イエスは彼らに「かめに水をいっぱい入れなさい」と言われたので、彼らは口のところまでいっぱいに入れた。
2:7 Jesus says unto them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
2:8 そこで彼らに言われた、「さあ、くんで、料理がしらのところに持って行きなさい」。すると、彼らは持って行った。
2:8 And he says unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
2:9 料理がしらは、ぶどう酒になった水をなめてみたが、それがどこからきたか知らなかったので、（水をくんだ僕たちは知っていた）花婿を呼んで
2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
2:10 言った、「どんな人でも、初めによいぶどう酒を出して、酔いがまわったころにわるいのを出すものだ。それだのに、あなたはよいぶどう酒を今までとっておかれました」。
2:10 And says unto him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now.
2:11 イエスはこの最初のしるしをガリラヤのカナで行い、その栄光を現された。そして弟子たちはイエスを信じた。
2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
2:12 そののち、イエスは、その母、兄弟たち、弟子たちと一緒に、カペナウムに下って、幾日かそこにとどまられた。
2:12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
2:13 さて、ユダヤ人の過越の祭が近づいたので、イエスはエルサレムに上られた。
2:13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2:14 そして牛、羊、はとを売る者や両替をする者などが宮の庭にすわり込んでいるのをごらんになって、
2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
2:15 なわでむちを造り、羊も牛もみな宮から追いだし、両替人の金を散らし、その台をひっくりかえし、
2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
2:16 はとを売る人々には「これらのものを持って、ここから出て行け。わたしの父の家を商売の家とするな」と言われた。
2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things behind; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
2:17 弟子たちは、「あなたの家を思う熱心が、わたしを食いつくすであろう」と書いてあることを思い出した。
2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of yours house has eaten me up.
2:18 そこで、ユダヤ人はイエスに言った、「こんなことをするからには、どんなしるしをわたしたちに見せてくれますか」。
2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign show you unto us, seeing that you do these things?
2:19 イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「この神殿をこわしたら、わたしは三日のうちに、それを起こすであろう」。
2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
2:20 そこで、ユダヤ人たちは言った、「この神殿を建てるのには、四十六年もかかっています。それだのに、あなたは三日のうちに、それを建てるのですか」。
2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you rear it up in three days?
2:21 イエスは自分のからだである神殿のことを言われたのである。
2:21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
2:22 それで、イエスが死人の中からよみがえったとき、弟子たちはイエスがこう言われたことを思い出して、聖書とイエスのこの言葉とを信じた。
2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word (o. logos) which Jesus had said.
2:23 過越の祭の間、イエスがエルサレムに滞在しておられたとき、多くの人々は、その行われたしるしを見て、イエスの名を信じた。
2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
2:24 しかしイエスご自身は、かれらに自分をお任せにならなかった。それは、すべての人を知っておられ、
2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
2:25 また人についてあかしする者を、必要とされなかったからである。それは、ご自身人の心の中にあることを知っておられたからである。
2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
3:1 パリサイ人のひとりで、その名をニコデモというユダヤ人の指導者があった。
3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
3:2 この人が夜イエスのもとにきて言った、「先生、わたしたちはあなたが神からこられた教師であることを知っています。神がご一緒でないなら、あなたがなさっておられるようなしるしは、だれにもできません」。
3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.
3:3 イエスは答えて言われた、「よくよくあなたに言っておく。だれても新しく生まれなければ、神の国を見ることはできない」。
3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
3:4 ニコデモは言った、「人は年をとってからうまれることが、どうしてできますか。もう一度、母の胎にはいって生まれることができましょうか」。
3:4 Nicodemus says unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
3:5 イエスは答えられた、「よくよくあなたに言っておく。だれでも、水と霊とから生まれなければ、神の国にはいることはできない。
3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
3:6 肉から生まれる者は肉であり、霊から生まれる者は霊である。
3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit (o. pneuma) is spirit. (o. pneuma)
3:7 あなたがたは新しく生まれなければからないと、わたしが言ったからとて、不思議に思うには及ばない。
3:7 Marvel not that I said unto you, All of you must be born again.
3:8 風は思いのままに吹く。あなたはその音を聞くが、それがどこからきて、どこへ行くかは知らない。霊から生まれる者もみな、それと同じである」。
3:8 The wind (o. pneuma) blows where it decides, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell whence it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (o. pneuma)
3:9 ニコデモはイエスに答えて言った、「どうして、そんなことがあり得ましょうか」。
3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
3:10 イエスは彼に答えて言われた、「あなたはイスラエルの教師でありながら、これぐらいのことがわからないのか。
3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel, and know not these things?
3:11 よくよく言っておく。わたしたちは自分の知っていることを語り、また自分の見たことをあかししているのに、あなたがたはわたしたちのあかしを受けいれない。
3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and all of you receive not our witness.
3:12 わたしが地上のことを語っているのに、あなたがたが信じないならば、天上のことを語った場合、どうしてそれを信じるだろうか。
3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and all of you believe not, how shall all of you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
3:13 天から下ってきた者、すなわち人の子のほかには、だれも天に上った者はない。
3:13 And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
3:14 そして、ちょうどモーセが荒野でへびを上げたように、人の子もまた上げなければならない。
3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
3:15 それは彼を信じる者が、すべて永遠の命を得るためである」。
3:15 That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
3:16 神はそのひとり子を賜ったほどに、この世を愛して下さった。それは御子を信じる者がひとりも滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである。
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3:17 神が御子を世に使わされたのは、世をさばくためではなく、御子によって、この世が救われるためである。
3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
3:18 彼を信じる者は、さばかれない。信じない者は、すでにさばかれている。神のひとり子の名を信じることをしないからである。
3:18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3:19 そのさばきというのは、光がこの世にきたのに、人々はそのおこないが悪いために、光よりもやみの方を愛したことである。
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 悪を行っている者はみな光を憎む。そして、そのおこないが明るみに出されるのを恐れて、光にこようとはしない。
3:20 For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
3:21 しかし、真理を行っている者は光に来る。その人のおこないの、神にあってなされたということが、明らかにされるためである。
3:21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
3:22 こののち、イエスは弟子たちとユダヤの地に行き、彼らと一緒にそこに滞在して、バプテスマを授けておられた。
3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
3:23 ヨハネもサリムに近いアイノンで、バプテスマを授けていた。そこには水かたくさんあったからである。人々がぞくぞくとやってきてバプテスマを受けていた。
3:23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
3:24 そのとき、ヨハネはまだ獄に入れられてはいなかった。
3:24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
3:25 ところが、ヨハネの弟子たちのとひとりのユダヤ人との間に、きよめのことで争論が起った。
3:25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.
3:26 そこで彼らはヨハネのところにきて言った、「先生、ごらん下さい。ヨルダンの向こうであなたと一緒にいたことがあり、そして、あなたがあかしをしておられたあのかたが、バプテスマを授けており、皆の者が、そのかたのところへ出かけています」。
3:26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bare witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.
3:27 ヨハネは答えて言った、「人は天から与えられなければ、何ものも受けることはできない。
3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
3:28 『わたしはキリストではなく、そのかたよりも先につかわされた者である』と言ったことをあかししてくれるのは、あなたがた自身である。
3:28 All of you yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
3:29 花嫁をもつ者は花婿である。花婿の友人は立って彼の声を聞き、その声を聞いて大いに喜ぶ。こうして、子の喜びはわたしに満ちたりている。
3:29 He that has the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
3:30 彼は必ず栄え、わたしは衰える。
3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
3:31 上から来る者は、すべてのものの上にある。地から出る者は、地に属する者であって、地のことを語る。天から来る者は、すべてのものの上にある。
3:31 He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from heaven is above all.
3:32 彼はその見たところ、聞いたところをあかししているが、だれもそあかしを受けいれない。
3:32 And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony.
3:33 しかし、そのあかしを受けいれる者は、神がまことであることを、たしかに認めたのである、
3:33 He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true.
3:34 神がおつかわしになったかたは、神の言葉を語る。神は聖霊を限りなく賜うからである。
3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words (o. rhema) of God: for God gives not the Spirit (o. pneuma) by measure unto him.
3:35 父は御子を愛して、万物をその手にお与えになった。
3:35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
3:36 御子を信じる者は永遠の命を持つ。御子に従わない者は、命にあずかることがないばかりか、神の怒りがその上にとどまるのである」。
3:36 He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.
4:1 イエスがヨハネよりも多くの弟子をつくり、またバプテスマを授けておられるということを、パリサイ人たちが聞き、それを主が知られたとき、
4:1 When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
4:2 （しかし、イエスみずからが、バプテスマをお授けになったのではなく、その弟子たちであった）
4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
4:3 ユダヤを去って、またガリラヤへ行かれた。
4:3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4:4 しかし、イエスはサマリヤを通過しなければならなかった。
4:4 And he must essentially go through Samaria.
4:5 そこで、イエスはサマリヤのスカルという町においでになった。この町は、ヤコブがそのこヨセフに与えた土地の近くにあったが、
4:5 Then comes he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
4:6 そこにヤコブの井戸があった。イエスは旅の疲れを覚えて、そのまま、この井戸のそばにすわっておられた。時は昼の十二時頃であった。
4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
4:7 ひとりのサマリヤの女が水をくみにきたので、イエスはこの女に、「水を飲ませて下さい」と言われた。
4:7 There comes a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus says unto her, Give me to drink.
4:8 弟子たちは食物を買いに町に行っていたのである。
4:8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.)
4:9 すると、サマリヤの女はイエスに言った、「あなたはユダヤ人でありながら、どうしてサマリヤの女のわたしに、飲ませてくれとおっしゅるのですか」。これは、ユダヤ人はサマリヤ人と交際していなかったからである。
4:9 Then says the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
4:10 イエスは答えて言われた、「もしあなたが神の賜物のことを知り、また、『水を飲ませてくれ』と言った者が、だれであるか知っていたならば、あなたの方から願い出て、その人から生ける水をもらったことであろう」。
4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.
4:11 女はイエスに言った、「主よ、あなたは、くむ物をお持ちにならず、その上、井戸は深いのです。その生ける水を、どこから手に入れるのですか。
4:11 The woman says unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then have you that living water?
4:12 あなたは、この井戸を下さったわたしたちの父ヤコブよりも、偉いかたなのですか。ヤコブ自身も飲み、その子らも、その家畜も、この井戸から飲んだのですが」。
4:12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
4:13 イエスは女に答えて言われた、「この水を飲む者はだれでも、またかわくであろう。
4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again:
4:14 しかし、わたしが与える水を飲む者は、いつまでも、かわくことがないばかりか、わたしが与える水は、その人のうちで泉となり、永遠の命に至る水が、わきあがるであろう」。
4:14 But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
4:15 女はイエスに言った、「主よ、わたしがかわくことなく、また、ここにくみにこなくてもよいように、その水をわたしに下さい」。
4:15 The woman says unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw.
4:16 イエスは女に言われた、「あなたの夫を呼びに行って、ここに連れてきなさい」。
4:16 Jesus says unto her, Go, call your husband, and come here.
4:17 女は答えて言った、「わたしには夫はありません」。イエスは女に言われた、「夫がないと言ったのは、もっともだ。
4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband:
4:18 あなたには五人の夫があったが、今のあなたの夫ではない。あなたの言葉の通りである」。
4:18 For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly.
4:19 女はイエスに言った、「主よ、わたしはあなたを預言者と見ます。
4:19 The woman says unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
4:20 わたしたちの先祖は、この山で礼拝をしたのですか。あなたがたは礼拝すべき場所は、エルサレムにあると言っています」。
4:20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and all of you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
4:21 イエスは女に言われた、「女よ、わたしの言うことを信じなさい。あなたがたが、この山でも、またエルサレムでもない所で、父を礼拝する時が来る。
4:21 Jesus says unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when all of you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
4:22 あなたがたは自分の知らないものを拝んでいるが、わたしたちは知っているかたを礼拝している。救はユダヤ人から来るからである。
4:22 All of you worship all of you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
4:23 しかし、まことの礼拝をする者たちが、霊とまこととをもって父を礼拝する時が来る。そうだ、今きている。父は、このような礼拝をする者たちを求めておられるからである。
4:23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit (o. pneuma) and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.
4:24 神は霊であるから、礼拝をする者も、霊とまこととをもって礼拝するべきである」。
4:24 God is a Spirit: (o. pneuma) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (o. pneuma) and in truth.
4:25 女はイエスに言った、「わたしは、キリストと呼ばれるメシヤがこられることを知っています。そのかたがこられたならば、わたしたちに、いっさいのことを知らせて下さるでしょう」。
4:25 The woman says unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he has come, he will tell us all things.
4:26 イエスは女に言われた、「あなたと話しているこのわたしが、それである」。
4:26 Jesus says unto her, I that speak unto you am he.
4:27 そのとき、弟子たちが帰って来て、イエスがひとりの女と話しておられるのを見て不思議に思った、しかし、「何を求めておられますか」とも「何を彼女と話しておられるのですか」とも、尋ねる者はひとりもなかった。
4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her?
4:28 この女は水がめをそのままそこに置いて町に行き、人々に言った、
4:28 The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and says to the men,
4:29 「わたしのしたことを何もかも、言いあてた人がいます。さあ、見にきてごらんなさい。もしかしたら、この人がキリストかも知れません」。
4:29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
4:30 人人は町を出て、ぞくぞくとイエスのところへ行った。
4:30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
4:31 その間に弟子たちはイエスに、「先生、召しあがってください」とすすめた。
4:31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
4:32 ところが、イエスは言われた、「わたしには、あなたがたの知らない食物がある」。
4:32 But he said unto them, I have food to eat that all of you know not of.
4:33 そこで、弟子たちが互いに言った、「だれかが、何か食べるものを持ってきてさしあげたのであろうか」。
4:33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has any man brought him ought to eat?
4:34 イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしの食物というのは、わたしをつかわされたかたのみこころを行い、そのみわざなし遂げることである。
4:34 Jesus says unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
4:35 あなたがたは、刈入れ時が来るまでには、まだ四か月あると、言っているではないか。しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言う。目をあけて畑を見なさい。はや色づいて刈入れを待っている。
4:35 Say not all of you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
4:36 刈る者は報酬を受けて、永遠の命に至る実を集めている。まく者も刈る者も、共々に喜ぶためである。
4:36 And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
4:37 そこで、『ひとりがまき、ひとりが刈る』ということわざか、ほんとうのこととなる。
4:37 And herein is that saying (o. logos) true, One sows, and another reaps.
4:38 わたしは、あなたがたをつかわして、あなたがたがそのために苦労しなかったものを刈とらせた。ほかの人々が労苦し、あなたがたは、彼らの労苦の実にあずかっているのである」。
4:38 I sent you to reap that whereon all of you bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and all of you are entered into their labours.
4:39 さて、この町からきた多くのサマリヤ人は、「この人は、わたしのしたことを何もかも言いあてた」とあかしした女の言葉によって、イエスを信じた。
4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying (o. logos) of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
4:40 そこで、サマリヤ人たちはイエスのもとにきて、自分たちのところに滞在していただきたいと願ったので、イエスはそこにふつか滞在された。
4:40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
4:41 そしてなお多くの人々が、イエスの言葉を聞いて信じた。
4:41 And many more believed because of his own word; (o. logos)
4:42 彼らは女に言った、「わたしたちが信じるのは、もうあなたが話してくれたからではない。自分自身で親しく聞いて、この人こそまことに世の救主であることが、わかったからである」。
4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
4:43 ふつかの後に、イエスはここを去ってガリラヤへ行かれた。
4:43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
4:44 イエスはみずからはっきり、「預言者は自分の故郷では救われないものだ」と言われたのである。ガリラヤに着かれると、
4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
4:45 ガリラヤの人たちはイエスを歓迎した、それは、彼らも祭に行ったので、その祭の時、イエスがエルサレムでなされたことをことごとく見ていたからである。
4:45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
4:46 イエスは、またガリラヤのカナに行かれた。そこは、かつて水をぶどう酒にかえられた所である。ところが、病気をしているむすこを持つある役人がカペナウムにいた。
4:46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
4:47 この人が、ユダヤからガリラヤにイエスのきておられることを聞き、みもとにきて、カペナウムに下って、彼の子をなおしていただきたいと、願った。その子が死にかかっていたからである。
4:47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
4:48 そこで、イエスは彼に言われた、「あなたがたは、しるしと奇跡とを見ない限り、決して信じないだろう」。
4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except all of you see signs and wonders, all of you will not believe.
4:49 この役人はイエスに言った、「主よ、ぞうぞ、子供が死なないうちにきて下さい」。
4:49 The nobleman says unto him, Sir, come down before my child die.
4:50 イエスは彼に言われた、「お帰りなさい。あなたのむすこは助かるのだ」。彼は自分に言われたイエスの言葉を信じて帰って行った。
4:50 Jesus says unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word (o. logos) that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
4:51 その下って行く途中、僕たちが彼に出会い、その子が助かったことを告げた。
4:51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.
4:52 そこで、彼は僕たちに、そのなおりはじめた時刻を尋ねてみたら、「きのうの午後一時に熱が引きました」と答えた。
4:52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
4:53 それは、イエスが「あなたのむすこは助かるのだ」と言われたのと同じ時刻であったことを、この父は知って、彼自身もその家族一同も信じた。
4:53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house.
4:54 これは、イエスがユダヤからきてなされた第二のしるしである。
4:54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
5:1 こののち、ユダヤ人の祭があったので、イエスはエルサレムに上られた。
5:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
5:2 エルサレムにある羊の門のそばに、ヘブル語でベテスダと呼ばれる池があった。そこには五つの廊があった。
5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
5:3 その廊の中には、病人、盲人、足なえ、やせ衰えた者などが、大ぜいからだを横たえていた。〔彼らは水の動くのを待っていたからである。
5:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
5:4 それは、時々、主の御使がこの池に降りてきて水を動かすことがあるが、水が動いたときまっ先にはいる者は、どんな病気にかかっていても、いやされたからである。〕
5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5:5 さて、そこに三十八年のあいだ、病気に悩んでいる人があった。
5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
5:6 イエスはその人が横になっているのを見、また長い間わずらっていたのを知って、その人に「なおりたいのか」と言われた。
5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he says unto him, Will you be made whole?
5:7 この病人はイエスに答えた、「主よ、水が動く時に、わたしを池の中に入れてくれる人がいません。わたしがはいりかけると、ほかの人が先に降りて行くのです」。
5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steps down before me.
5:8 イエスは彼に言われた、「起きて、あなたの床を取りあげ、そして歩きなさい」、
5:8 Jesus says unto him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk.
5:9 すると、この人はすぐにいやされ、床をとりあげて歩いて行った。その日は安息日であった。
5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
5:10 そこでユダヤ人たちは、そのいやされた人に言った、「きょうは安息日だ。床を取りあげるのは、よろしくない」。
5:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.
5:11 彼は答えた、「わたしをなおして下さったかたが、床を取りあげて歩けと、わたしに言われました」。
5:11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up your bed, and walk.
5:12 彼らは尋ねた、「取りあげて歩けと言った人は、だれか」。
5:12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto you, Take up your bed, and walk?
5:13 しかし、このいやされた人は、それがだれであるか知らなかった。群衆がその場にいたので、イエスはそっと出て行かれたからである。
5:13 And he that was healed know not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
5:14 そののち、イエスは宮でその人に出会ったので、彼に言われた、「ごらん、あなたはよくなった、もう罪を犯してはいけない。何かもっと悪いことが、あなたの身に起こるかも知れないから」。
5:14 Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto you.
5:15 彼は出て行って、自分をいやしたのは、イエスであったと、ユダヤ人たちに告げた。
5:15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
5:16 そのためユダヤ人たちは、安息日このようなことをしたと言って、イエスを責めた。
5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
5:17 そこで、イエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしの父は今に至るまで働いておられる。わたしも働くのである」。
5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.
5:18 このためにユダヤ人たちは、ますますイエスを殺そうと計るようになった。それはイエスが安息日を破られたばかりではなく、神を自分の父と呼んで、自分を神と等しいものとされたからである。
5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
5:19 さて、イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。子は父のなさることを見てする以外に、自分からは何事もすることができない。父のなさることであればすべて、子もそのとおりにするのである。
5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things whatsoever he does, these also does the Son likewise.
5:20 なぜなら、父は子を愛して、みずからなさることは、すべて子にお示しになるからである。そして、それよりもなお大きなわざを、お示しになるであろう。あなたがたが、それによって不思議に思うためである。
5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that all of you may marvel.
5:21 すなわち、父が死人を起こして命をお与えになるように、子もまた、そのこころにかなう人々に命を与えるであろう。
5:21 For as the Father raises up the dead, and replenishes life to them; even so the Son gives life to whom he will.
5:22 父はだれをもさばかない。さばきのことはすべて、子にゆだねられたからである。
5:22 For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son:
5:23 それは、すべての人が父を敬うと同様に、子を敬うためである。子を敬わない者は、子をつかわされた父をも敬わない。
5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent him.
5:24 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしの言葉を聞いて、わたしをつかわされたかたを信じる者は、永遠の命を受け、またさばかれることがなく、死から命に移っているのである。
5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, (o. logos) and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
5:25 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。死んだ人たちが、神の子の声を聞く時がくる。今すでにきている。そして聞く人は生きるであろう。
5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
5:26 それは、父がご自分のうちに生命をお持ちになっていると同様に、子もまた、自分のうちに生命を持つことをお許しになったからである。
5:26 For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself;
5:27 そして子は人の子であるから、子にさばきを行う権威をお与えになった。
5:27 And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
5:28 このことを驚くには及ばない。墓の中にいる者たちがみな神の子の声を聞き、
5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
5:29 善をおこなった人々は、生命を受けるためによみがえり、悪をおこなった人々は、さばきを受けるためによみがえって、それぞれ出てくる時が来るであろう。
5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
5:30 わたしは、自分からは何事もすることができない。ただ聞くままにさばくのである。そして、わたしのこのさばきは正しい。それは、わたし自身の考えでするのではなく、わたしをつからされたの、み旨を求めているからである。
5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which has sent me.
5:31 もし、わたしが自分自身についてあかしをするならば、わたしのあかしはほんとうではない。
5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
5:32 わたしについてあかしをするかたはほかにあり、そして、その人があかしがほんとうであることを、わたしは知っている。
5:32 There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true.
5:33 あなたがたはヨハネのもとへ人をつかわしたが、そのとき彼は真理についてあかしをした。
5:33 All of you sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
5:34 わたしは人からあかしを受けないが、このことを言うのは、あなたがたが救われるためである。
5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that all of you might be saved.
5:35 ヨハネは燃えて輝くあかりであった。あなたがたは、しばらくの間その光を喜び楽しもうとした。
5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and all of you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
5:36 しかし、わたしには、ヨハネのあかしよりも、もっと力があるあかしができる。父がわたしに成就させようとしてお与えになったわざ、すなわち、今わたしがしているこのわざが、父のわたしをつかわされたことをあかししている。
5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.
5:37 また、わたしをつかわされた父も、ご自分でわたしについてあかしされた。あなたがたは、まだそのみ声を聞いたこともなく、そのみ姿を見たこともない。
5:37 And the Father himself, which has sent me, has borne witness of me. All of you have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
5:38 また、神がつかわされた者を信じないから、神の御言はあなたがたのうちにとどまっていない。
5:38 And all of you have not his word (o. logos) abiding in you: for whom he has sent, him all of you believe not.
5:39 あなたがたは、聖書の中に永遠の命があると思って調べているが、この聖書は、わたしについてあかしをするものである。
5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them all of you think all of you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
5:40 しかも、あなたがたは、命を得るためにわたしのもとへこようともしない。
5:40 And all of you will not come to me, that all of you might have life.
5:41 わたしは人からの誉れを受けることはしない。
5:41 I receive not honour from men.
5:42 しかし、あなたがたのうちには神を愛する愛がないことを知っている。
5:42 But I know you, that all of you have not the love (o. agape) of God in you.
5:43 わたしは父の名によってきたのに、あなたがたはわたしを受け入れない。もし、ほかの人が彼自身の名によって来るならば、その人を受けいれるのであろう。
5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and all of you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him all of you will receive.
5:44 互いに誉れを受けながら、ただひとりの神からの誉れを求めようとしないあなたがたは、どうして信じることができようか。
5:44 How can all of you believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that comes from God only?
5:45 わたしがあなたがたのことを父に訴えると、考えてはいけない。あなたがたを訴える者は、あなたがたが頼みとしているモーセその人である。
5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom all of you trust.
5:46 もし、あなたがたがモーセを信じたならば、わたしをも信じたであろう。モーセは、わたしについて書いたのである。
5:46 For had all of you believed Moses, all of you would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
5:47 しかし、モーセの書いたものを信じないならば、どうしてわたしの言葉を信じるだろうか」。
5:47 But if all of you believe not his writings, how shall all of you believe my words? (o. rhema)
6:1 そののち、イエスはガリラヤの海、すなわち、テベリヤ湖の向こう岸へ渡られた。
6:1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
6:2 すると、大ぜいの群衆がイエスについてきた。病人たちになさっていたしるしを見たからである。
6:2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
6:3 イエスは山に登って、弟子たちと一緒にそこで座につかれた。
6:3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
6:4 時に、ユダヤ人の祭である過越が間近になっていた。
6:4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
6:5 イエスは目をあげ、大ぜいの群衆が自分の方に集まってくるのを見て、ピリポに言われた、「どこからパンを買ってきて、この人人に食べさせようか」。
6:5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he says unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6:6 これはピリポをためそうとして言われたのであって、ご自分ではしようとすることを、よくご承知であった。
6:6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
6:7 すると、ピリポはイエスに答えた、「二百デナリのパンがあっても、めいめいが少しずついただくにも足りますまい」。
6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
6:8 弟子のひとり、シモン・ペテロの兄弟アンデレがイエスに言った、
6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says unto him,
6:9 「ここに、大麦のパン五つと、さかな二ひきとを持っている子供がいます。しかし、こんなに大ぜいの人では、それが何になりましょう」。
6:9 There is a lad here, which has five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
6:10 イエスは「人々をすわらせなさい」と言われた。その場所には草が多かった。そこにすわった男の数は五千人ほどであった。
6:10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
6:11 そこで、イエスはパンを取り、感謝してから、すわっている人々に分け与え、また、さかなをも同様にして、彼らの望むだけを分け与えられた。
6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
6:12 人々がじゅうぶんに食べたのち、イエスは弟子たちに言われた、「少しでもむだにならないように、パンくずのあまれを集めなさい」。
6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
6:13 そこで彼らが集めると、五つの大麦のパンを食べて残ったパンくずは、十二のかごにいっぱいになった。
6:13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
6:14 人々はイエスのなさったこのしるしを見て、「ほんとうに、この人こそ世にきたるべき預言者である」と言った。
6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is truthfully that prophet that should come into the world.
6:15 イエスは人々がきて、自分をとらえて王にしようとしていると知って、ただひとり、また山に退かれた。
6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
6:16 夕方になったとき、弟子たちは海べに下り、
6:16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
6:17 舟に乗って海を渡り、向こう岸のカペナウムに行きかけた。すでに暗くなってたのに、イエスはまだ彼らのところにおいでにならなかった。
6:17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
6:18 その上、強い風が吹いてきて、海は荒れ出した。
6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
6:19 四、五十丁こぎ出したとき、イエスが海の上を歩いて舟に近づいてこられるのを見て、彼らは恐れた。
6:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
6:20 すると、イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしだ、恐れることはない」。
6:20 But he says unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
6:21 そこで、彼らは喜んでイエスを舟に迎えようとした。すると舟は、すぐ、彼らが行こうとしていた地に着いた。
6:21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land where they went.
6:22 その翌日、海の向こう岸に立っていた群衆は、そこに小舟が一そうしかなく、またイエスは弟子たちと一緒に小舟にお乗りにならず、ただ弟子たちだけが船出したのを見た。
6:22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save that one into where his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
6:23 しかし、数そうの小舟がテベリヤからきて、主が感謝されたのちパンを人々に食べさせた場所に近づいた。
6:23 (nevertheless there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
6:24 群衆は、イエスも弟子たちもそこにいないと知って、そこから小舟に乗り、イエスをたずねてカペナウムに行った。
6:24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also went on board ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
6:25 そして、海の向こう岸でイエスに出会ったので言った、「先生、いつ、ここにおいでになったのですか」。
6:25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when came you here?
6:26 イエスは答えて言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。あなたがたがわたしを尋ねてきているのは、しるしを見たためではなく、パンを食べて満腹したからである。
6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, All of you seek me, not because all of you saw the miracles, but because all of you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
6:27 朽ちる食物のためではなく、永遠の命に至る朽ちない食物のために働くがよい。これは人の子があなたがたに与えるものである。父なる神は、人の子にそれをゆだねられたのである」。
6:27 Labour not for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him has God the Father sealed.
6:28 そこで、彼らはイエスに言った、「神のわざを行うために、わたしたちは何をしたらよいでしょうか」。
6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
6:29 イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「神がつかわされた者を信じることが、神のみわざである」。
6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that all of you believe on him whom he has sent.
6:30 彼らはイエスに言った、「わたしたちが見てあなたを信じるために、どんなしるしを行って下さいますか。
6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work?
6:31 わたしたちの先祖は荒野でマナを食べました。それは『天よりのパンを彼らに与えて食べさせた』と書いてあるとおりです」。
6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
6:32 そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「よくよく言っておく。天からのパンを与えたのは、モーセではない。天からのまことのパンをあなたがたに与えるのは、わたしの父なのである。
6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
6:33 神のパンは、天から下ってきて、この世に命を与えるものである」。
6:33 For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
6:34 彼らはイエスに言った、「主よ、そのパンをいつもわたしたちに下さい」。
6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
6:35 イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしが命のパンである。わたしに来る者は決して飢えることがなく、わたしを信じる者は決してかわくことがない。
6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
6:36 しかし、あなたがたに言ったが、あなたがたはわたしを見たのに信じようとはしない。
6:36 But I said unto you, That all of you also have seen me, and believe not.
6:37 父がわたしに与えて下さる者は皆、わたしに来るであろう。そして、わたしに来る者を決して拒みはしない。
6:37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.
6:38 わたしが天から下ってきたのは、自分のこころのままを行うのではなく、わたしをつかわされたかたのみこころを行うためである。
6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
6:39 わたしをつかわされたかたのみこころは、わたしに与えて下さった者を、わたしがひとりも失わずに、終りの日によみがえらせることである。
6:39 And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
6:40 わたしの父のみこころは、子を見て信じる者が、ことごとく永遠の命を得ることなのである。そして、わたしはその人々を終わりの日によみがえらせるであろう」。
6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:41 ユダヤ人らは、イエスが「わたしは天から下ってきたパンである」と言われたので、イエスについてつぶやき始めた。
6:41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
6:42 そして言った、「これはヨセフの子イエスではないか。わたしたちはその父母を知っているではないか。わたしは天から下ってきたと、どうして今いうのか」。
6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he says, I came down from heaven?
6:43 イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「互いにつぶやいてはいけない。
6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
6:44 わたしをつかわされた父が引きよせて下さらなければ、だれもわたしに来ることはできない。わたしは、その人々を終わりの日によみがえらせるであろう。
6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:45 預言者の書に、『彼らはみな神に教えられるであろう』と書いてある。父から聞いて学んだ者は、みなわたしに来るのである。
6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.
6:47 神から出た者のほかに、だれかが父を見たのではない。その者だけが父を見たのである。
6:46 Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God, he has seen the Father.
6:47 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。信じる者には永遠の命がある。
6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.
6:48 わたしは命のパンである。
6:48 I am that bread of life.
6:49 あなたがたの先祖は荒野でマナを食べたが、死んでしまった。
6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
6:50 しかし、天から下ってきたパンを食べる人は、決して死ぬことはない。
6:50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
6:51 わたしは天から下ってきた生きたパンである。それを食べる者は、いつまでも生きるであろう。わたしが与えるパンは、世の命のために与えるわたしの肉である」。
6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
6:52 そこで、ユダヤ人らが互いに論じて言った、「この人はどうして、自分の肉をわたしたちに与えて食べさせることができようか」。
6:52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
6:53 イエスは彼らに言われた、「よくよく言っておく。人の子の肉を食べず、また、その血を飲まなければ、あなたがたの内に命はない。
6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except all of you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, all of you have no life in you.
6:54 わたしの肉を食べ、わたしの血を飲む者には、永遠の命があり、わたしはその人を終わりの日によみがえらせるであろう。
6:54 Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:55 わたしの肉はまことの食物、わたしの血はまことの飲み物である。
6:55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
6:56 わたしの肉を食べ、わたしの血を飲む者はわたしにおり、わたしもまたその人におる。
6:56 He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.
6:57 生ける父がわたしをつかわされた、また、わたしが父によって生きているように、わたしを食べる者もわたしによって生きるであろう。
6:57 As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me.
6:58 天から下ってきたパンは、先祖たちが食べて死んでしまったようなものではない。このパンを食べる者は、いつまでも生きるであろう」。
6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live for ever.
6:59 これらのことは、イエスがカペナウムの会堂で教えておられたときに言われたものである。
6:59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
6:60 弟子たちのうち多くの者は、これを聞いて言った、「これは、ひどい言葉だ。だれがそんなことを聞いておられようか」。
6:60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; (o. logos) who can hear it?
6:61 しかしイエスは弟子たちがそのことでつぶやいているのを見破って、彼らに言われた、「このことがあなたがたのつまずきになるのか。
6:61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Does this offend you?
6:62 それでは、もし人の子が前にいた所に上るのを見たら、どうなるのか。
6:62 What and if all of you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
6:63 人を生かすものは霊であって、肉はなんの役にも立たない。わたしがあなたがたに話した言葉は霊であり、また命である。
6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; (o. pneuma) the flesh profits nothing: the words (o. rhema) that I speak unto you, they are spirit, (o. pneuma) and they are life.
6:64 しかし、あなたがたの中には信じない者がいる」。イエスは、初めから、だれが信じないか、また、だれが彼を裏切るかを知っておられたのである。
6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
6:65 そしてイエスは言われた、「それだから。父が与えて下さった者でなければ、わたしに来ることができないと、言ったのである」。
6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
6:66 それ以来、おおくの弟子たちは去っていって。もはやイエスと行動を共にしなかった。
6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
6:67 そこでイエスは十二弟子に言われた、「あなたがたも去ろうとするのか」。
6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will all of you also go away?
6:68 シモン・ペテロが答えた、「主よ、わたしたちは、だれのところに行きましょう。永遠の命の言をもっているのはあなたです。
6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words (o. rhema) of eternal life.
6:69 わたしたちは、あなたが神の聖者であることを信じ、また知っています」。
6:69 And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.
6:70 イエスは彼らに答えられた、「あなたがた十二人を選んだのは、わたしではなかったか。それだのに、あなたがたのうちのひとりは悪魔である」。
6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
6:71 これは、イスカリオテのシモンの子ユダをさして言われたのである。このユダは、十二弟子のひとりでありながら、イエスを裏切ろうとしていた。
6:71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
7:1 そののち、イエスはガリラヤを巡回しておられた。ユダヤ人たちが自分を殺そうとしていたので、ユダヤを巡回しようとはされなかった。
7:1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
7:2 時に、ユダヤ人の仮庵の祭が近づいていた。
7:2 Now the Jew's feast of tabernacles was at hand.
7:3 そこで、イエスの兄弟たちがイエスに言った、「あなたがしておられるわざを弟子たちにも見せるために、ここを去りユダヤに行ってはいかかです。
7:3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart behind, and go into Judaea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do.
7:4 自分を公にあらわそうと思っている人で、隠れて仕事をするものはありません。あなたがこれらのことをするからには、自分をはっきりと世にあらわしなさい」。
7:4 For there is no man that does any thing in secret, and he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.
7:5 こう言ったのは、兄弟たちもイエスを信じていなかったからである。
7:5 For neither did his brethren believe in him.
7:6 そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしの時がまだきていない。しかし、あなたがたの時はいつも備わっている。
7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.
7:7 世はあなたがたを憎み得ないが、わたしを憎んでいる。わたしが世のおこないの悪いことを、あかししているからである。
7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
7:8 あなたがたこそ祭に行きなさい。わたしはみの祭には行かない。わたしの時がまだ満ちていないから」。
7:8 Go all of you up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.
7:9 彼らにこう言って、イエスはガリラヤにとどまっておられた。
7:9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
7:10 しかし、兄弟たちが祭に行ったあとで、イエスも人目にたたぬように、ひそかに行かれた。
7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
7:11 ユダヤ人らは祭の時に、「あの人はどこにいるのか」と言って、イエスを捜していた。
7:11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
7:12 群衆の中に、イエスについていろいろとうわさが立った。ある人々は、「あれはよい人だ」と言い、他の人々は、「いや、あれは群衆を惑わしている」と言った。
7:12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceives the people.
7:13 しかし、ユダヤ人らを恐れて、イエスのことを公然と口にする者はいなかった。
7:13 Nevertheless no man spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
7:14 祭も半ばになってから、イエスは宮に上って教え始められた。
7:14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
7:15 すると、ユダヤ人らは驚いて言った、「この人は学問をしたことがないのに、どうして律法の知識をもっているのだろう」。
7:15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knows this man letters, having never learned?
7:16 そこでイエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「わたしの教えはわたし自信の教えではなく、わたしをつかわされたかたの教えである。
7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
7:17 神のみこころを行おうと思う者であれば、だれでも、わたしの語っているこの教が神からのものか、それとも、わたし自身から出たものか、わかるであろう。
7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
7:18 自分から出たことを語る者は、自分の栄光を求めるが、自分をつかわされたかたの栄光を求める者は真実であって、その人の内には偽りがない。
7:18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
7:19 モーセはあなたがたに律法を与えたではないか。それだのに、あなたがたのうちには、その律法を行う者がひとりもいない。あなたがたは、なぜわたしを殺そうと思っているのか」。
7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why go all of you about to kill me?
7:20 群衆は答えた、「あなたは悪霊に取りつかれている。だれがあなたを殺そうと思っているものか」。
7:20 The people answered and said, You have a devil: who goes about to kill you?
7:21 イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「わたしが一つのわざをしたところ、あなたがたはみなそれを見て驚いている。
7:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and all of you all marvel.
7:22 モーセはあなたがたに礼拝を命じたので、（これは、実は、モーセから始まったのではなく、先祖たちから始まったものである）あなたがたは安息日にも人に割礼を施している。
7:22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and all of you on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
7:23 もし、モーセの律法が破られないように、安息日であっても割礼を受けるのなら、安息日に人の全身を丈夫にしてやったからといって、どうして、そんなにおこるのか。
7:23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are all of you angry at me, because I have made a man everything whole on the sabbath day?
7:24 うわべで人をさばかないで、正しいさばきをするがよい」。
7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
7:25 さて、エルサレムのある人たちが言った、「この人は人々が殺そうと思っている者ではないか。
7:25 Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
7:26 見よ、彼は公然と語っているのに、人々はこれに対して何も言わない。役人たちは、この人がキリストであることを、ほんとうに知っているのではなかろうか。
7:26 But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
7:27 わたしたちはこの人がどこから来るのか知っている者は、ひとりもいない」。
7:27 Nevertheless we know this man whence he is: but when Christ comes, no man knows whence he is.
7:28 イエスは宮の内で教えながら、叫んで言われた、「あなたがたは、わたしを知っており、また、わたしがどこからきたかも知っている。しかし、わたしは自分からきたのではない。わたしをつかわされたかたは真実であるが、あなたがたは、そのかたを知らない。
7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, All of you both know me, and all of you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom all of you know not.
7:29 わたしは、そのかたを知っている。わたしはそのかたのもとからきた者で、そのかたがわたしをつかわされたのである」。
7:29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he has sent me.
7:30 そこで人々はイエスを捕らえようと計ったが、だれひとり手をかける者はなかった。イエスの時が、まだきていなかったからである。
7:30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
7:31 しかし、群衆の中の多くの者が、イエスを信じて言った、「キリストがきても、この人が行ったよりも多くのしるしを行うだろうか」。
7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ comes, will he do more miracles than these which this man has done?
7:32 群衆がイエスについてこのようなうわさをしているのを、パリサイ人たちは耳にした。そこで祭司長たちやパリサイ人たちは、いえすを捕らえようとして、下役どもをつかわした。
7:32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
7:33 イエスは言われた、「今しばらくの間、わたしはあなたがたと一緒にいて、それから、わたしをおつかわしになったかたのみもとに行く。
7:33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
7:34 あなたがたはわたしを捜すであろうが、見つけることはできない」。
7:34 All of you shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither all of you cannot come.
7:35 そこでユダヤ人たちは互いに言った、「わたしたちが見つけることができないというのは、どこへ行こうとしいてるのだろう。ギリシャ人の中に離散している人たちのところにでも行って、ギリシャ人を教えようというのだろうか。
7:35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Where will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
7:36 また、『わたしを捜すが、見つけることができない。そしてわたしのいる所には来ることができないだろう』と言った言葉は、どういう意味だろう」。
7:36 What manner of saying (o. logos) is this that he said, All of you shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither all of you cannot come?
7:37 祭の終わりの大事な日に、イエスは立って、叫んで言われた、「だれでもかわく者は、わたしのところにきて飲むがよい。
7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
7:38 わたしを信じる者は、聖書に書いてあるとおり、その腹から生ける水が川となって流れ出るであろう」。
7:38 He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
7:39 これは、イエスを信じる人々が受けようとしている御霊をさして言われたのである。すなわち、イエスはまだ栄光を受けておられなかったので、御霊がまだ下っていなかったのである。
7:39 (But this spoke he of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
7:40 群衆のある者がこれらの言葉を聞いて、「このかたは、ほんとうに、あの預言者である」と言い、
7:40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, (o. logos) said, Truthfully this is the Prophet.
7:41 ほかの人たちは「このかたはキリストである」と言い、また、ある人々は「キリストはまさか、ガリラヤからは出てこないだろう。
7:41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
7:42 キリストはダビデの子孫から、またダビデのいたベツレヘムの村から出ると、聖書に書いてあるではないか」と言った。
7:42 Has not the scripture said, That Christ comes of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
7:43 こうして、群衆の間にイエスのことで分争が生じた。
7:43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
7:44 彼らのうちのある人々は、イエスを捕らえようと思ったが、だれひとり手をかける者はなかった。
7:44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
7:45 さて、下役どもが祭司長たちやパリサイ人たちのところに帰ってきたので、彼らはその下役どもに言った、「なぜ、あの人を連れてこなかったのか」。
7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have all of you not brought him?
7:46 下役どもは答えた、「この人の語るように語った者は、これまでにありませんでした」。
7:46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
7:47 パリサイ人たちが彼らに答えた、「あなたがたまでか、だまされているのではないか。
7:47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are all of you also deceived?
7:48 役人たちやパリサイ人たちの中で、ひとりでも彼を信じた者があっただろうか。
7:48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
7:49 律法をわきまえないこの群衆は、のろわれている」。
7:49 But this people who knows not the law are cursed.
7:50 彼らの中のひとりで、以前にイエスに会いにきたことのあるニコデモが、彼らに言った、
7:50 Nicodemus says unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)
7:51 「わたしたちの律法によれば、まずその人の言い分を聞き、その人のしたことを知った上でなければ、さばくことをしないのではないか」。
7:51 Does our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he does?
7:52 彼らは答えて言った、「あなたもガリラヤ出なのか。よく調べてみなさい、ガリラヤからは預言者が出るものではないことが、わかるだろう」。〔
7:52 They answered and said unto him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.
7:53 そして、人々はおのおのの家に帰って行った。
7:53 And every man went unto his own house.
8:1 イエスはオリブの山に行かれた。
8:1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
8:2 朝早くまた宮にはいられると、人々が皆みもとに集まってきたので、イエスはすわって彼らに教えておられた。
8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
8:3 すると、律法学者やパリサイ人たちが、姦淫している時につかまえられた女をひっぱってきて、中に立たせた上、イエスに言った、
8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
8:4 「先生、この女は姦淫の場でつかまえられました。
8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
8:5 モーセの律法の中で、こういう女を石で打ち殺せと命じましたが、あなたはどう思いますか」。
8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what says you?
8:6 彼らはそう言ったのは、イエスをためして、訴える口実を得るためであった。しかし、イエスは身をかがめて、指で地面に何か書いておられた。
8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
8:7 彼らが問い続けるので、イエスは身を起こして彼らに言われた、「あなたがたの中で罪のない者が、まずこの女に石を投げつけるがよい」。
8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8:8 そしてまた身をかがめて、地面に物を書きつづけられた。
8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
8:9 これを聞くと、彼らは年寄りから始めて、ひとりびとり出て行き、ついに、イエスだけになり、女は中にいたまま残された。
8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
8:10 そこでイエスは身を起こして女に言われた、「女よ、みんなはどこにいるか。あなたを罰する者はなかったのか」。
8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those yours accusers? has no man condemned you?
8:11 女は言った、「主よ、だれもございません」。イエスは言われた、「わたしもあなたを罰しない。お帰りなさい。今後はもう罪を犯さないように」。〕
8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.
8:12 イエスは、また人々に語ってこう言われた、「わたしは世の光である。わたしに従って来る者は、やみのうちを歩くことがなく、命の光をもつであろう」。
8:12 Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
8:13 するとパリサイ人たちがイエスに言った、「あなたは、自分のことをあかししている。あなたのあかしは真実ではない」。
8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, You bear record of yourself; your record is not true.
8:14 イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「たとい、わたしが自分のことをあかししても、わたしのあかしは真実である。それは、わたしはどこからきたのか、また、どこへ行くのかを知っているからである。しかし、あなたがたは、わたしがとこからきて、どこへ行くのかを知らない。
8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and where I go; but all of you cannot tell whence I come, and where I go.
8:15 あなたがたは肉によって人をさばくが、わたしはだれもさばかない。
8:15 All of you judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
8:16 しかし、もしわたしがさばくとすれば、わたしのさばきは正しい。なぜなら、わたしはひとりではなく、わたしをつかわされたかたが、わたしと一緒だからである。
8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
8:17 あなたがたの律法には、ふたりによる証言は真実だと、書いてある。
8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
8:18 わたし自身のことをあかしするのは、わたしであるし、わたしをつかわされた父も、わたしのことをあかしして下さるのである」。
8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness of me.
8:19 すると、彼らはイエスに言った、「あなたの父はどこにいるのか」。イエスは答えられた、「あなたがたは、わたしをもわたしの父をも知っていない。もし、あなたがたがわたしを知っていたなら、わたしの父をも知っていたであろう」。
8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, All of you neither know me, nor my Father: if all of you had known me, all of you should have known my Father also.
8:20 イエスが宮の内で教えていた時、これらの言葉をさいせん箱のそばで語られたのであるが、イエスの時がまだきていなかったので、だれも捕らえる者がなかった。
8:20 These words (o. rhema) spoke Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
8:21 さて、また彼らに言われた、「わたしは去って行く。あなたがたはわたしを捜し求めるであろう。そして自分の罪のうちに死ぬであろう。わたしの行く所には、あなたがたは来ることができない」。
8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and all of you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, all of you cannot come.
8:22 そこでユダヤ人たちは言った、「わたしの行く所に、あなたがたは来ることができないと、言ったのは、あるいは自殺でもしょうとするつもりか」。
8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I go, all of you cannot come.
8:23 イエスは彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは下から出た者だが、わたしは上からきた者である。あなたがたはこの世の者であるが、わたしはこの世の者ではない。
8:23 And he said unto them, All of you are from beneath; I am from above: all of you are of this world; I am not of this world.
8:24 だからわたしは、あなたがたは自分の罪のうちに死ぬであろうと、言ったのである。もしわたしがそういう者であることをあなたがたが信じなければ、罪のうちに死ぬことになるからである」。
8:24 I said therefore unto you, that all of you shall die in your sins: for if all of you believe not that I am he, all of you shall die in your sins.
8:25 そこで彼らはイエスに言った、「あなたは、いったい、どういうかたですか」。イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしがどういう者であるかは、初めからあなたがたに言っているではないか。
8:25 Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus says unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
8:26 あなたがたについて、わたしの言うべきこと、さばくべきことが、たくさんある。しかし、わたしをつかわされたかたは真実なかたである。わたしは、そのかたから聞いたままを世にむかって語るのである」。
8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
8:27 彼らは、イエスが父について話しておられたことを悟らなかった。
8:27 They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.
8:29 そこでイエスは言われた、「あなたがたが人の子を上げてしまった後はじめて、わたしがそういう者であること、また、わたしは自分からは何もせず、ただ父が教えて下さったままを話していたことが、わかってくるであろう。
8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When all of you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall all of you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
8:29 わたしをつかわされたかたは、わたしと一緒におられる。わたしは、いつも神のみこころにかなうことをしているから、わたしをひとり置きざりになさることはない」。
8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
8:30 これらのことを語られたところ、多くの人々がイエスを信じた。
8:30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
8:31 イエスは自分を信じたユダヤ人たちに言われた、「もしわたしの言葉のうちにとどまっておるなら、あなたがたは、ほんとうにわたしの弟子なのである。
8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If all of you continue in my word, (o. logos) then are all of you my disciples indeed;
8:32 また真理を知るであろう。そして真理は、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろう」。
8:32 And all of you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
8:33 そこで、彼らはイエスに言った、「わたしたちはアブラハムの子孫であって、人の奴隷になったことなどは、一度もない。どうして、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろうと、言われるのか」。
8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how says you, All of you shall be made free?
8:34 イエスは彼らに答えられた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。すべて罪を犯す者は罪の奴隷である。
8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
8:35 そして、奴隷はいつまでも家にいる者ではない。しかし、子はいつまでもいる。
8:35 And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever.
8:36 だから、もし子があなたがたに自由を得させるならば、あなたがたは、ほんとうに自由な者となるのである。
8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, all of you shall be free indeed.
8:37 わたしは、あなたがたがアブラハムの子孫であることを知っている。それだのに、あなたがたはわたしを殺そうとしている。わたしの言葉が、あなたがたのうちに根をおろしていないからである。
8:37 I know that all of you are Abraham's seed; but all of you seek to kill me, because my word (o. logos) has no place in you.
8:38 わたしはわたしの父のもとで見たことを語っているが、あなたがたは自分の父から聞いたことを行っている」。
8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and all of you do that which all of you have seen with your father.
8:39 彼らはイエスに答えて言った、「わたしたちの父はアブラハムである」。イエスは彼らに言われた、「もしアブラハムの子であるなら、アブラハムのわざをするがよい。
8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says unto them, If all of you were Abraham's children, all of you would do the works of Abraham.
8:40 ところが今、神から聞いた真理をあなたがたに語ってきたこのわたしを、殺そうとしている。そんなことをアブラハムはしなかった。
8:40 But now all of you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
8:41 あなたがたは、あなたがたの父のわざを行っているのである」。彼らは言った、「わたしたちは、不品行の結果うまれた者ではない。わたしたちにはひとりの父がある。それは神である」。
8:41 All of you do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
8:42 イエスは彼らに言われた、「神があなたがたの父であるならば、あなたがたはわたしを愛するはずである。わたしは神から出た者、また神からきている者であるからだ。わたしは自分からきたのではなく、神からつかわされたのである。
8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, all of you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
8:43 どうしてあなたがたは、わたしの話すことがわからないのか。わたしの言葉を悟ることができないからである。
8:43 Why do all of you not understand my speech? even because all of you cannot hear my word. (o. logos)
8:44 あなたがたは自分の父、すなわち、悪魔から出てきた者であって、その父の欲望どおりを行おうと思っている。彼は初めから、人殺しであって、真理に立つ者ではない。彼のうちには真理がないからである。彼が偽りを言うとき、いつも自分の本音をはいているのである。彼は偽り者であり、偽りの父であるからだ。
8:44 All of you are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father all of you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
8:45 しかし、わたしが真理を語っているので、あなたがたはわたしを信じようとしない。
8:45 And because I tell you the truth, all of you believe me not.
8:46 あなたがたのうち、だれがわたしに罪があると責めうるのか。わたしは真理を語っているのに、なぜあなたがたは、わたしを信じないのか。
8:46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do all of you not believe me?
8:47 神からきた者は神の言葉に聞き従うが、あなたがたが聞き従わないのは、神からきた者でないからである」。
8:47 He that is of God hears God's words: (o. rhema) all of you therefore hear them not, because all of you are not of God.
8:48 ユダヤ人たちはイエスに答えて言った、「あなたはサマリヤ人で、悪霊に取りつかれていると、わたしたちが言うのは、当然ではないか」。
8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?
8:49 イエスは答えられた、「わたしは、悪霊に取りつかれているのではなくて、わたしの父を重んじているのだが、あなたがたはわたしを軽んじている。
8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and all of you do dishonour me.
8:50 わたしは自分の栄光を求めてはいない。それを求めるかたが別にある。そのかたは、またさばくかたである。
8:50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
8:51 よくよく言っておく。もし人がわたしの言葉を守るならば、その人はいつまでも死を見ることはないであろう」。
8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, (o. logos) he shall never see death.
8:52 ユダヤ人たちが言った、「あなたが悪霊に取りつかれていることが、今わかった。アブラハムは死に、預言者たちも死んでいる。それだのに、あなたは、わたしの言葉を守る者はいつまでも死を味わうことがないであろう、言われる。
8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you says, If a man keep my saying, (o. logos) he shall never taste of death.
8:53 あなたは、わたしたちの父アブラハムより偉いのだろうか。彼も死に、預言者たちも死んだではないか。あなたは、いったい、自分をだれと思っているのか」。
8:53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make you yourself?
8:54 イエスは答えられた、「わたしがもし自分に栄光を帰するなら、わたしの栄光は、むなしいものである。わたしに栄光を与えるかたは、わたしの父であって、あなたがたが自分の神だと言っているのは、そのかたのことである。
8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom all of you say, that he is your God:
8:55 あなたがたはその神を知っていないが、わたしは知っている。もしわたしが神を知らないと言うならば、あなたがたと同じような偽り者であろう。しかし、わたしはそのかたを知り、その御言を守っている。
8:55 Yet all of you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. (o. logos)
8:56 あなたがたの父アブラハムは、わたしのこの日を見ようとして楽しんでいた。そしてそれを見て喜んだ」。
8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
8:57 そこでユダヤ人たちはイエスに言った、「あなたはまだ五十にもならないのに、アブラハムを見たのか」。
8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?
8:58 イエスは彼らに言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。アブラハムの生まれる前からわたしは、いるのである」。
8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
8:59 そこで彼らは石をとって、イエスに投げつけようとした。しかし、イエスは身を隠して、宮から出て行かれた。
8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
9:1 イエスが道をとおっておられるとき、生まれつきの盲人を見られた。
9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
9:2 弟子たちはイエスに尋ねて言った、「先生、この人が生まれつき盲人なのは、だれが罪を犯したためですか。本人ですか、それともその両親ですか」。
9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
9:3 イエスは答えられた、「本人が罪を犯したのでもなく、また、その両親が犯したのでもない。ただ神のみわざが、彼の上に現れるためである。
9:3 Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
9:4 わたしたちは、わたしたちをつかわされたかたのわざを、昼の間にしなければならない。夜が来る。すると、だれも働けなくなる。
9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.
9:5 わたしは、この世にいる間は、世の光である」。
9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
9:6 イエスはそう言って、地につばきをし、そのつばきで、どろをつくり、そのどろを盲人の目に塗って言われた、
9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
9:7 「シロアム（つかわされた者、の意）の池に行って洗いなさい」。そこで彼は行って洗った。そして見えるようになって、帰って行った。
9:7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
9:8 近所の人々や、彼がもと、こじきであったのを見知っていた人々が言った、「この人は、すわってこじきをしていた者ではないか」。
9:8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9:9 ある人々は、「その人だ」と言い、他の人々は「いや、ただあの人に似ているだけだ」と言った。
9:9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
9:10 そこで人々が彼に言った、「では、おまえの目はどうしてあいたのか」。
9:10 Therefore said they unto him, How were yours eyes opened?
9:11 彼は答えた、「イエスというかたが、どろをつくって、わたしの目に塗り、『シロアムに行って洗え』と言われました。それで、行って洗うと、見えるようになりました」。
9:11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
9:12 人々は彼に言った、「その人はどこにいるのか」。彼は「知りません」と答えた。
9:12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
9:13 人々は、もと盲人であったこの人を、パリサイ人たちのところにつれて行った。
9:13 They brought to the Pharisees him that in old times was blind.
9:14 イエスがどろをつくって彼の目をあけたのは、安息日であった。
9:14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
9:15 パリサイ人たちもまた、「どうして見えるようになったのか」、と彼に尋ねた。彼は答えた、「あのかたがわたしの目にどろを塗り、わたしがそれを洗い、そして見えるようになりました」。
9:15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
9:16 そこで、あるパリサイ人たちが言った、「その人は神からきた人ではない。安息日を守っていないから」。しかし、ほかの人々は言った、「罪のある人が、どうしてそのようなしるしを行うことができようか」。そして彼らの間に分争が生じた。
9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keeps not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
9:17 そこで彼らは、もう一度この盲人に聞いた、「おまえの目をあけてくれたその人を、どう思うか」。「預言者だと思います」と彼は言った。
9:17 They say unto the blind man again, What says you of him, that he has opened yours eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
9:18 ユダヤ人たちは、彼がもと盲人であったが見えるようになったことを、まだ信じなかった。ついに彼らは、目が見えるようになったこの人の両親を呼んで、
9:18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
9:19 尋ねて言った、「これが、生まれつきの盲人であったと、おまえたちの言っているむすこか。それではどうして、いま目が見えるのか」。
9:19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who all of you say was born blind? how then does he now see?
9:20 両親は答えて言った、「これがわたしどものむすこであること、生まれつき盲人であったことは存じています。
9:20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
9:21 しかし、どうしていま見えるようになったのか、それは知りません。また、だれがその目をあけて下さったのかも知りません。あれに聞いて下さい。あれはもうおとなですから、自分のことは自分で話せるでしょう」。
9:21 But by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
9:22 両親はユダヤ人たちを恐れていたので、こう答えたのである。それは、もしイエスをキリストと告白する者があれば、会堂から追い出すことに、ユダヤ人たちが既に決めていたからである。
9:22 These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
9:23 彼の両親が「おとなですから、あれに聞いて下さい」と言ったのは、そのためであった。
9:23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
9:24 そこで彼らは、盲人であった人をもう一度呼んで言った、「神に栄光を帰するがよい。あの人が罪人であることは、わたしたちにはわかっている」。
9:24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
9:25 すると彼は言った、「あのかたが罪人であるかどうか、わたしは知りません。ただ一つのことだけ知っています。わたしは盲人であったが、今は見えるということです」。
9:25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
9:26 そこで彼らは言った、「その人はおまえに何をしたのか。とんなにしておまえの目をあけたのか」。
9:26 Then said they to him again, What did he to you? how opened he yours eyes?
9:27 彼は答えた、「そのことはもう話してあげたのに、聞いてくれませんでした。なぜまた聞こうとするのですか。あなたがたも、あの人の弟子になりたいのですか」。
9:27 He answered them, I have told you already, and all of you did not hear: wherefore would all of you hear it again? will all of you also be his disciples?
9:28 そこで彼らは彼をののして言った、「おまえはあれの弟子だが、わたしたちはモーセの弟子だ。
9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, You are his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
9:29 モーセに神が語られたということは知っている。だが、あの人がどこからきた者か、わたしたちは知らぬ」。
9:29 We know that God spoke unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
9:30 そこで彼が答えて言った、「わたしの目をあけて下さったのに、そのかたがどこからきたか、ご存じないとは、不思議千万です。
9:30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that all of you know not from whence he is, and yet he has opened mine eyes.
9:31 わたしたちはこのことを知っています。神は罪人の言うことはお聞きいれになりませんが、神を敬い、そのみこころを行う人の言うことは聞きいれて下さいます。
9:31 Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and does his will, him he hears.
9:32 生れつき盲人であった者の目をあけた人があるということは、世界が始まって以来、聞いたことがありません。
9:32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
9:33 もしあのかたが神からきた人でなかったら、何一つできなかったはずです」。
9:33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
9:34 これを聞いて彼らは言った、「おまえは全く罪の中から生まれていながら、わたしたちを教えようとするのか」。そして彼を外へ追いだした。
9:34 They answered and said unto him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.
9:35 イエスは、その人が外へ追い出されたことを聞かれた。そして彼に会って言われた、「あなたは人の子を信じるか」。
9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you believe on the Son of God?
9:36 彼は答えて言った、「主よ、それはどなたですか。そのかたを信じたいのですが」。
9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
9:37 イエスは彼らに言われた、「あなたは、もうその人にあっている。今あなたと話しているのが、その人である」。
9:37 And Jesus said unto him, You have both seen him, and it is he that talks with you.
9:38 すると彼は、「主よ、信じます」と言って、イエスを拝した。
9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
9:39 そこでイエスは言われた、「わたしがこの世のきたのは、さばくためである。すなわち、見えない人たちが見えるようになり、見える人たちが見えないようになるためである」。
9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
9:40 そこでイエスと一緒にいたあるパリサイ人たちが、それを聞いてイエスに言った、「それでは、わたしたちも盲人なのでしょうか」。
9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
9:41 イエスは彼らに言われた、「もしあなたがたが盲人であったなら、罪はなかったであろう。しかし、今あなたがたが『見える』と言い張るところに、あなたがたの罪がある。
9:41 Jesus said unto them, If all of you were blind, all of you should have no sin: but now all of you say, We see; therefore your sin remains.
10:1 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。羊の囲いにはいるのに、門からではなく、ほかの所からのりこえて来る者は、盗人であり、強盗である。
10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10:2 門からはいる者は、羊の羊飼である。
10:2 But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3 門番は彼のために門を開き、羊は彼の声を聞く、そして彼は自分の羊の名をよんで連れ出す。
10:3 To him the gate keeper opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
10:4 自分の羊をみな出してしまうと、彼は羊の先頭に立って行く。羊はその声を知っているので、彼について行くのである。
10:4 And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5 ほかの人には、ついて行かないで逃げ去る。その人の声を知らないからである」。
10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
10:6 イエスは彼らにこの比喩を話されたが、彼らは自分たちにお話になっているのが何のことだか、わからなかった。
10:6 This parable spoke Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spoke unto them.
10:7 そこで、イエスまた言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしは羊の門である。
10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
10:8 わたしよりも前にきた人は、みな盗人であり、強盗である。羊は彼らに聞き従わなかった。
10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9 わたしは門である。わたしをとおってはいる者は救われ、また出入りし、牧草にありつくであろう。
10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10:10 盗人が来るのは、盗んだり、殺したり、滅ぼしたりするためにほかならない。わたしがきたのは、羊に命を得させ、豊かに得させるためである。
10:10 The thief comes not, but in order to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10:11 わたしはよい羊飼である。よい羊飼は、羊のために命を捨てる。
10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
10:12 羊飼ではなく、羊が自分のものでもない雇人は、おおかみが来るのを見ると、羊を捨てて逃げ去る。そして、おおかみは羊を奪い、また追い散らす。
10:12 But he that is a worker, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and left the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.
10:13 彼は雇人であって、羊のことを心にかけていないからである。
10:13 The worker flees, because he is a worker, and cares not for the sheep.
10:14 わたしはよい羊飼であって、わたしの羊を知り、わたしの羊はまた、わたしを知っている。
10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
10:15 それはちょうど、父がわたしを知っておられ、わたしが父を知っているのと同じである。そして、わたしは羊のために命を捨てるのである。
10:15 As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
10:16 わたしにはまた、この囲いにいない他の羊がある。わたしは彼らをも導かねばならない。彼らも、わたしの声に聞き従うであろう。そして、ついに一つの群れ、ひとりの羊飼となるであろう。
10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
10:17 父は、わたしが自分の命を捨てるから、わたしを愛して下さるのである。命を捨てるのは、それを再び得るためである。
10:17 Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
10:18 だれかが、わたしからそれを取り去るのではない。わたしが、自分からそれを捨てるのである。わたしは、それを捨てる力があり、またそれを受ける力もある。これはわたしの父から授かった定めである」。
10:18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
10:19 これらの言を語られたため、ユダヤ人の間にまたも分争が生じた。
10:19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. (o. logos)
10:20 そのうちの多くの者が言った、「彼は悪霊に取りつかれて、気が狂っている。どうして、あながたはその言うことを聞くのか」。
10:20 And many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why hear all of you him?
10:21 他の人々は言った、「それは悪霊に取りつかれた者の言ではない。悪霊は盲人の目をあけることができようか」。
10:21 Others said, These are not the words (o. rhema) of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
10:22 そのころ、エルサレムで宮のきよめの祭が行われた。時は冬であった。
10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
10:23 イエスは、宮の中にあるソロモンの廊を歩いておられた。
10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
10:24 するとユダヤ人たちが、イエスを取り囲んで言った、「いつまでわたしたちを不安のままにしておくのか。あなたがキリストであるなら、そうとはっきり言っていただきたい」。
10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you be the Christ, tell us plainly.
10:25 イエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしは話したのだが、あなたがたは信じようとしない。わたしの父の名によってしているすべてのわざが、わたしのことをあかししている。
10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and all of you believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
10:26 あなたがたが信じないのは、わたしの羊でないからである。
10:26 But all of you believe not, because all of you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10:27 わたしの羊はわたしの声に聞き従う。わたしは彼らを知っており、彼らはわたしについて来る。
10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
10:28 わたしは、彼らに永遠の命を与える。だから、彼らはいつまでも滅びることがなく、また、彼らをわたしの手から奪い去る者はない。
10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
10:29 わたしの父がわたしに下さったものは、すべてにまさるものである。そしてだれも父のみ手から、それを奪い取ることはできない。
10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
10:30 わたしと父は一つである」。
10:30 I and my Father are one.
10:31 そこでユダヤ人たちは、イエスを打ち殺そうとして、また石を取りあげた。
10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10:32 するとイエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしは、父による多くのよいわざを、あなたがたに示した。その中のどのわざのために、わたしを石で打ち殺そうとするのか」。
10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do all of you stone me?
10:33 ユダヤ人たちは答えた、「あなたを石で殺そうとするのは、よいわざをしたからではなく、神を汚したからである。また、あなたは人間であるのに、自分を神としているからである」。
10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.
10:34 イエスは彼らに答えられた、「あなたがたの律法に、『わたしは言う、あなたがたは神々である』と書いてあるではないか。
10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, All of you are gods?
10:35 神の言を託された人々が、神々といわれておるとすれば、（そして聖書の言は、すたることがあり得ない）
10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word (o. logos) of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
10:36 父が聖別して、世につかわされた者が、『わたしは神の子である』と言ったからとて、どうして『あなたは神を汚す者だ』と言うのか。
10:36 Say all of you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God?
10:37 もしわたしが父のわざを行わないとすれば、わたしを信じなくてもよい。
10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
10:38 しかし、もし行っているなら、たといわたしを信じなくても、わたしのわざを信じるがよい。そうすれば、父がわたしにおり、また、わたしが父におることを知って悟であろう」。
10:38 But if I do, though all of you believe not me, believe the works: that all of you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39 そこで、彼らはまたイエスを捕らえようとしたが、イエスは彼らの手をのがれて、去って行かれた。
10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
10:40 さて、イエスはまたヨルダンの向こう岸、すなわち、ヨハネが初めにバプテスマを授けていた所に行き、そこに滞在しておられた。
10:40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
10:41 多くの人々がイエスの所にきて、互いに言った、「ヨハネはなんのしるしも行わなかったが、ヨハネがこのかたについて言ったことは、皆ほんとうであった」。
10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spoke of this man were true.
10:42 そして、そこで多くの者がイエスを信じた。
10:42 And many believed on him there.
