IICorinthians / コリント人への第二の手紙 第一章
1:1 神の御旨によりキリスト・イエスの使徒となったパウロと、兄弟テモテから、コリントにある神の教会、ならびにアカヤ全土にいるすべての聖徒たちへ。
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
1:2 わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 ほむべきかな、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神、あわれみ深き父、慰めに満ちたる神。
1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
1:4 神は、いかなる患難の中にいる時でもわたしたちを慰めて下さり、また、わたしたち自身も、神に慰めていただくその慰めをもって、あらゆる患難の中にある人々を慰めることができるようにして下さったのである。
1:4 Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
1:5 それは、キリストの苦難がわたしたちに満ちあふれているように、わたしたちの受ける慰めもまた、キリストによって満ちあふれているからである。
1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ.
1:6 わたしたちが患難に会うなら、それはあなたがたの慰めと救いとのためであり、慰めを受けるなら、それはあなたがたの慰めのためであって、その慰めは、わたしたちが受けているのと同じ苦難に耐えさせる力となるのである。
1:6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
1:7 だから、あなたがたに対していだいているわたしたちの望みは、動くことがない。あなたがたが、わたしたちと共に苦難にあずかっているよう、慰めにも共にあずかっていことを知っているからである。
1:7 And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as all of you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall all of you be also of the consolation.
1:8 兄弟たちよ。わたしたちがアジヤで会った患難を、知らずにいてもらいたくない。わたしたちは極度に、耐えられないほど圧迫されて、生きる望みをさえ失っていまい、
1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
1:9 心のうちで死を覚悟し、自分自身を頼みとしないで、死人をよみがえらせて下さる神を頼みとするに至った。
1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead:
1:10 神はこのような死の危険から、わたしたちを救い出して下さった、また救い出して下さるであろう。わたしたちは、神が今後も救い出して下さることを望んでいる。
1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
1:11 そして、あなたがたもまた祈りをもって、ともとせもに、わたしたちを助けてくれるであろう。これは多くの人々の願いによりわたしたちの賜った恵みについて、多くの人が感謝をささげるようになるためである。
1:11 All of you also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
1:12 さて、わたしたちがこの世で、ことあなたがたに対し、人間の知恵によってではなく神の恵みによって、神の神聖と真実とによって行動してきたことは、実にわたしたちの誇りであって、良心のあかしするところである。
1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
1:13 わたしたちが書いていることは、あなたがたが読んで理解でないことではない。それを完全に理解してくれるように、わたしは希望する。
1:13 For we write no other things unto you, than what all of you read or acknowledge; and I trust all of you shall acknowledge even to the end;
1:14 すでにある程度わたしたちを理解してくれているとおり、わたしたちの主イエスの日には、あなたがたがわたしたちの誇りであるように、わたしたちもあなたがたの誇りなのである。
1:14 As also all of you have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as all of you also are our's in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1:15 この確信をもって、わたしたちはもの一度恵みを得させたいので、まずあなたがたの所に行き、
1:15 And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that all of you might have a second benefit;
1:16 それからそちらを通ってマケドニヤにおもむき、そして再びマケドニヤからあなたがたの所に帰り、あなたがたの見送りを受けてユダヤに行く計画を立てたのである。
1:16 And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
1:17 この計画を立てたのは、軽率なことであったであろうか。それとも、自分の計画を肉の思いによって計画したため、わたしの「しかり、しかり」が同時に「否、否」であったのだろうか。
1:17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I use levity? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?
1:18 神の真実にかけて言うが、あなたがたに対するわたしの言葉は、「しかり」と同時に「否」というようなものではない。
1:18 But as God is true, our word (o. logos) toward you was not yea and nay.
1:19 なぜなら、わたしたち、すなわち、わたしとシルワノとテモテとが、あなたがたに宣べ伝えた神の子イエス・キリストは、「しかり」となると同時に「否」となったのではない。そうではなく、「しかり」がイエスにおいて実現されたのである。
1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
1:20 なぜなら、神の約束はことごとく、彼において「しかり」となったからである。だから、わたしたちは、彼によって「アァメン」と唱えて、神に栄光を帰するのである。
1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
1:21 あなたがたと共にわたしたちを、キリストのうちに堅くささえ、油をそそいで下さったのは、神である。
1:21 Now he which establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God;
1:22 神はまた、わたしたちに証印をおし、その保証として、わたしたちの心に御霊を賜ったのである。
1:22 Who has also sealed us, and given the earn of the Spirit (o. pneuma) in our hearts.
1:23 わたしは自分の魂をかけ、神の証人を呼び求めて言うが、わたしがコリントに行かないでいるのは、あなたがたに対して寛大でありたいからである。
1:23 Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
1:24 わたしたちは、あなたがたの信仰を支配する者ではなく、あなたがたの喜びのために共に働いている者にすぎない。あなたがたは、信仰に堅く立っているからである。
1:24 Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith all of you stand.
2:1 そこでわたしは、あなたがたの所に再び悲しみをもって行くことはすまいと、決心したのである。
2:1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
2:2 もしあなたがたを悲しませるとすれば、わたしが悲しませているその人以外に、だれがわたしを喜ばせてくれるのか。
2:2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that makes me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
2:3 このような事を書いたのは、わたしが行く時、わたしを喜ばせてくれるはずの人々から、悲しい思いをさせられたくないためである。わたし自身の喜びはあなたがた全体の喜びであることを、あなたがたすべてについて確信しているからである。
2:3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
2:4 わたしは大きな患難と心の憂いの中から、多くの涙をもってあなたがたに書きおくった。それは、あなたがたを悲しませるためではなく、あなたがたに対してあふれるばかりにいだいているわたしの愛を、知ってもらうためであった。
2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that all of you should be grieved, but that all of you might know the love (o. agape) which I have more abundantly unto you.
2:5 しかし、もしだれかが人を悲しませたとすれば、それはわたとを悲しませたのではなく、控え目に言うが、ある程度、あなたがた一同を悲しませたのである。
2:5 But if any have caused grief, he has not grieved me, but in part: that I may not burden you all.
2:6 その人にとっては、多数の者から受けたあの処罰でもう十分なのだから、
2:6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
2:7 あなたがたはむしろ彼をゆるし、また慰めてやるべきである。そうしないと、その人はますます深い悲しみに沈むかも知れない。
2:7 So that contrariwise all of you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2:8 そこでわたしは、彼に対する愛を示すように、あなたがたに勧める。
2:8 Wherefore I plead to you that all of you would confirm your love (o. agape) toward him.
2:9 わたしが書きおくったのも、あなたがたすべての事について従順であるかどうかを、ためすためにほかならなかった。
2:9 In order to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether all of you be obedient in all things.
2:10 もしあなたがたが、何かのことについて人をゆるすなら、わたしもまたゆるそう。そして、もしわたしが何かのことでゆるしたとすれば、それは、あなたががたのためにキリストのみまえでゆるしたのである。
2:10 To whom all of you forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
2:11 そうするのは、サタンに欺かれることのないためである。わたしたちは、彼の策略を知らないわけではない。
2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2:12 さて、キリストの福音のためにトロアスに行ったとき、わたしのために主の門が開かれたにもかかわらず、
2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
2:13 兄弟テトスに会えなかったので、わたしは気が気でなく、人々に別れて、マケドニヤに出かけて行った。
2:13 I had no rest in my spirit, (o. pneuma) because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
2:14 しかるに、神は感謝すべきかな。神はいつもわたしたちをキリストの凱旋に伴い行き、わたしたちをとおしてキリストを知る知識のかおりを、至る所に放って下さるのである。
2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
2:15 わたしたちは、救われる者にとっても滅びる者にとっても、神に対するキリストのかおりである。
2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
2:16 後者にとっては、死から死に至らせるかおりであり、前者にとっては、いのちからいのちに至らせるかおりである。いったい、このような任務に、だれが耐え得ようか。
2:16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
2:17 しかし、わたしたちは、多くの人のように神の言を売り物にせず、真心をこめて、神につかわされた者として神のみなえで、キリストにあって語るのである。
2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word (o. logos) of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
3:1 わたしたちは、またもや、自己推薦をし始めているのだろうか。それとも、ある人々のように、あなたがたにあてた、あるいは、あなたがたからの推薦状が必要なのだろうか。
3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
3:2 わたしたちの推薦状は、あなたがたなのである。それは、わたしたちの心にしるされていて、すべての人に知られ、かつ読まれている。
3:2 All of you are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3:3 そして、あなたがたは自分自身が、わたしたちから送られたキリストの手紙であって、墨によらず生ける神の霊によって書かれ、石の板にではなく人の心の板に書かれたものであることを、はっきりあらわしている。
3:3 Forasmuch as all of you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit (o. pneuma) of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
3:4 こうした確信を、わたしたちはキリストにより神に対していだいている。
3:4 And such trust have we through Christ toward God:
3:5 もちろん、自分自身で事を定める力が自分にある、と言うのではない。わたしたちのこうした力は、神からきている。
3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
3:6 神はわたしたちに力を与えて、新しい契約に仕える者とされたのである。それは、文字に仕える者ではなく、霊に仕える者である。文字は人を殺し、霊は人を生かす。
3:6 Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: (o. pneuma) for the letter kills, but the spirit (o. pneuma) gives life.
3:7 もし石に彫りつけた文字による死の務めが栄光のうちに行われ、そのためイスラエルの子らは、モーセの顔の消え去るべき栄光のゆえに、その顔を見つめることができなかったとすれば、
3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
3:8 まして霊の務めは、はるかに栄光あるものではなかろうか。
3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit (o. pneuma) be rather glorious?
3:9 もし罪を宣告する務めが栄光あるものだとすれば、義を宣告する務めは、はるかに栄光に満ちたものである。
3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
3:10 そして、すでに栄光を受けたものも、この場合、はるかにまさった栄光のまえに、その栄光を失ったのである。
3:10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels.
3:11 もし消えるべきものが栄光をもって現れたのなら、まして永存すべきものは、もっと栄光のあるべきものである。
3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.
3:12 こうした望みをいだいているので、わたしたちは思いきって大胆に語り、
3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
3:13 そしてモーセが、消え去っていくものの最後をイスラエルの子らに見られまいとして、顔におおいをかけたようなことはしない。
3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
3:14 実際、彼らの思いは鈍くなっていた。今日に至るまで、彼らが古い契約を朗読する場合、その同じおおいが取り去られないままで残っている。それは、キリストにあってはじめて取り除かれるのである。
3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
3:15 今日に至るもなお、モーセの書が朗読されるたびに、おおいが彼らの心にかかっている。
3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
3:16 しかし主に向く時には、そのおおいは取り除かれる。
3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
3:17 主は霊である。そして、主の霊のあるところには、自由がある。
3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: (o. pneuma) and where the Spirit (o. pneuma) of the Lord is, there is liberty.
3:18 わたしたちはみな、顔おおいなしに、主の栄光を鏡に映すように見つつ、栄光から栄光へと、主と同じ姿に変えられていく。これは霊なる主の働きによるのである。
3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit (o. pneuma) of the LORD.
4:1 このようにわたしたちは、あわれみを受けてこの務めついているのだから、落胆せずに、
4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
4:2 恥ずべき隠れたことを捨て去り、悪巧みによって歩かず、神の言を曲げず、心理を明らかにし、神のみまえに、すべての人の良心に自分を推薦するのである。
4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word (o. logos) of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
4:3 もしわたしたちの福音がおおわれているなら、滅びる者どもにとっておおわれているのである。
4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4:4 彼らの場合、この世の神が不信の者たちの思いをくらませて、神のかたちであるキリストの栄光の福音の輝きを、見えなくしているのである。
4:4 In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
4:5 しかし、わたしたちは自分自身を宣べ伝えるのではなく、主なるキリスト・イエスを宣べ伝える。わたしたち自身は、ただイエスのために働くあなたがたの僕にすぎない。
4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
4:6 「やみの中から光が照りいでよ」と仰せになった神は、キリストの顔に輝く神の栄光の知識を明らかにするために、わたしたちの心を照らして下さったのである。
4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
4:7 しかしわたしたちは、この宝を土の器の中に持っている。その測り知れない力は神のものであって、わたしたちから出たものではないことが、あらわれるためである。
4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
4:8 わたしたちは、四方から患難を受けても窮しない。途方にくれても行き詰まらない。
4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
4:9 迫害に会っても見捨てられない。倒されても滅びない。
4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
4:10 いつもイエスのいのちが、この身に負うている。それはまた、イエスのいのちが、この身に現れるためである。
4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
4:11 わたしたち生きている者は、イエスのために絶えず死に渡されているのである。それはイエスのいのちが、わたしたちの死ぬべき肉体に現れるためである。
4:11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
4:12 こうして、死はわたしたちのうちに働き、いのちはあなたがたのうちに働くのである。
4:12 So then death works in us, but life in you.
4:13 「わたしは信じた。それゆえに語った」としるしてあるとおり、それと同じ信仰の霊を持っているので、わたしたちも信じている。それゆえに語るのである。
4:13 We having the same spirit (o. pneuma) of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
4:14 それは、主イエスをよみがえらせたかたが、わたしたちをもイエスと共によみがえらせ、そして、あなたがたと共にみまえに立たせて下さることを、知っているからである。
4:14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
4:15 すべてのことは、あなたがたの益であって、恵みがますます多くの人に増し加わるにつれ、感謝が満ちあふれて、神の栄光となるのである。
4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
4:16 だから、わたしたちは落胆しない。たといわたしたちの外なる人は滅びても、内なる人は日ごとに新しくされていく。
4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
4:17 なぜなら、このしばらくの軽い患難は働いて、永遠の重い栄光を、あふれるばかりにわたしたちに得させるからである。
4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
4:18 わたしたちは、見えるものにではなく、見えないものに目を注ぐ。見えるものは一時的であり、見えないものは永遠につづくのである。
4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
5:1 わたしたちの住んでいる地上の幕屋がこわれると、神からいただく建物、すなわち天にある、人の手によらない永遠の家が備えてあることを、わたしたちは知っている。
5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
5:2 そして、天から賜るそのすみかを、上に着ようと切に望みながら、この幕屋の中で苦しみもだえている。
5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
5:3 それを着たなら、裸のままではいないことになろう。
5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
5:4 この幕屋の中にいるわたしたちは、重荷を負って苦しみもだえている。それを脱ごうと願うからではなく、その上に着ようと願うからであり、それによって、死ぬべきものがいのたにのまれてしまうためである。
5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5:5 わたしたちを、この事にかなう者にして下さったのは、神である。そして、神はその保証として御霊をわたしたちに賜ったのである。
5:5 Now he that has wrought us for the very same thing is God, who also has given unto us the earn of the Spirit. (o. pneuma)
5:6 だから、わたしたちはいつも心強い。そして、肉体を宿している間は主から離れていることを、よく知っている。
5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
5:7 わたしたちは、見えるものによらないで、信仰によって歩いているのである。
5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
5:8 それで、わたしたちは心強い。そして、むしろ肉体から離れて主と共に住むことが、願わしいと思っている。
5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
5:9 そういうわけだから、肉体を宿しているにしても、それから離れているにしても、ただ主に喜ばれる者となるのが、心からの願いである。
5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
5:10 なぜなら、わたしたちは皆、キリストのさばきの座の前にあらわれ、善であれ悪であれ、自分の行ったことに応じて、それぞれ報いを受けなければならないからである。
5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.
5:11 このようにわたしたちは、主の恐るべきことを知っているので、人々に説き勧める。わたしたちのことは、神のみまえには明らかになっている。さらに、あなたがたの良心にも明らかになるようにと望む。
5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
5:12 わたしたちは、あなたがたに対して、またもや自己推薦をしようとするのではない。ただわたしたちを誇る機会を、あなたがたに持たせ、心を誇るのではなくうわべだけを誇る人人に答うるようにさせたいのである。
5:12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that all of you may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
5:13 もしわたしたちが、気が狂っているのから、それは神のためであり、気が確かであるのなら、それはあなたがたのためである。
5:13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
5:14 なぜなら、キリストの愛がわたしたちに強く迫っているからである。わたしたちはこう考えている。ひとりの人がすべての人のために死んだ以上、すべての人が死んだのである。
5:14 For the love (o. agape) of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
5:15 そして、彼がすべての人のために死んだのは、生きている者がもはや自分のためにではなく、自分のために死んでよみがえったかたのために、生きるためである。
5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
5:16 それだから、わたしたちは今後、だれをも肉によって知ることはすまい。かつてはキリストを肉によって知っていたとしても、今はもうそのような知り方をすまい。
5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
5:17 だれでもキリストにあるならば、その人は新しく造られた者である。古いものは過ぎ去った、見よ、すべてが新しくなったのである。
5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
5:18 しかし、すべてこれらの事は、神から出ている。神はキリストによって、わたしたちをご自分に和解させ、かつ和解の努めをわたしたちに授けて下さった。
5:18 And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
5:19 すなわち、神はキリストにおいて世をご自分に和解させ、その罪過の責任をこれに負わせることをしないで、わたしたちに和解の福音をゆだねられたのである。
5:19 To know, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word (o. logos) of reconciliation.
5:20 神がわたしたちをとおして勧めをなさるのであるから、わたしたちはキリストの使者なのである。そこで、わたしたちはキリストに代わって願う、神の和解を受けなさい。
5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did plead to you by us: we pray you in Christ's position, be all of you reconciled to God.
5:21 神はわたしたちの罪のために、罪を知らないかたを罪とされた。それは、わたしたちが、彼にあって神の義となるためなのである。
5:21 For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
6:1 わたしたちはまた、神と共に働く者として、あなたがたに勧める。神の恵みをいたずらに受けてはならない。
6:1 We then, as workers together with him, plead to you also that all of you receive not the grace of God in vain.
6:2 神はこう言われる、「わたしは、恵みの時にあなたがたの願いを聞きいれ、救いの日にあなたを助けた」。見よ、今は恵みの時、見よ、今は救いの日である。
6:2 (For he says, I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I helped you: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
6:3 この努めがそしりを招かないために、わたしたちはどんな事にも、人につまずきを与えないようにし、
6:3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
6:4 かえって、あらゆる場合に、神の僕として、自分を人々にあらわしている。すなわち、極度の忍苦にも、患難にも、危機にも、行き詰まりにも、
6:4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
6:5 むち打たれることにも、入獄にも、騒乱にも、労苦にも、徹夜にも、飢餓にも、
6:5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6:6 真実と知識と寛容と、慈愛と聖霊と偽りのない愛と、
6:6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) by love (o. agape) sincere,
6:7 真理の言葉と神の力とにより、左右に持っている議の武器により、
6:7 By the word (o. logos) of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
6:8 ほめられても、そしられても、悪評を受けても、好評を博しても、神の僕として自分をあらわしている。わたしたちは、人を惑わしているようであるが、しかも、真実であり、
6:8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
6:9 人に知られていないようであるが、認められ、死にかかっているようであるが、見よ、生きており、懲らしめられているようであるが、殺されず。
6:9 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
6:10 悲しんでいるようであるが、常に喜んでおり、貧しいようであるが、多くの人を富ませ、何も持たないようであるが、すべての物を持っている。
6:10 As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
6:11 コリントの人々よ。あなたがたに向かってわたしたちの口は開かれており、わたしたちの心は広くなっている。
6:11 O all of you Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.
6:12 あなたがたは、わたしたちに心をせばめられていたのではなく、自分で心をせばめているのだ。
6:12 All of you are not straitened in us, but all of you are straitened in your own bowels.
6:13 わたしは子供たちに対するように言うが、どうかあなたがたの方でも心を広くして、わたしに応じてほしい。
6:13 Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be all of you also enlarged.
6:14 不信者と、つり合わないくびきを共にするな。義と不義となんの係わりがあるか。光とやみとなんの交わりがあるか。
6:14 Be all of you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?
6:15 キリストとベリアルとなんの調和があるか。信仰と不信仰となんの関係があるか。
6:15 And what concord has Christ with Belial? or what part has he that believes with an infidel?
6:16 神の宮と偶像となんの一致があるか。わたしたちは、生ける神の宮である。神がこう仰せになっている、「わたしは彼らの間に住み、かつ出入りするであろう。そして、わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となるであろう」。
6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? for all of you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
6:17 だから、「彼らの間に出て行き、彼らと分離せよ、と主は言われる。そして、汚れたものに触れてはならない。触れなければ、わたしはあなたがたを受けいれよう。
6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be all of you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
6:18 そしてわたしは、あなたがたの父となり、あなたがたは、わたしのむすこ、むすめとなるであろう。全能の主が、こう言われる」。
6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and all of you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
7:1 愛する者たちよ、わたしたちは、このような約束を与えられているのだから、肉と霊とのいっさいの汚れから自分をきよめ、神をおそれて全く清くなろうではないか。
7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, (o. pneuma) perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
7:2 どうか、わたしたちに心を開いてほしい。わたしたちは、だれにも不義をしたことがなく、だれをも破滅におとしいれたことがなく、だれからもだまし取ったことがない。
7:2 Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.
7:3 わたしは、責めるつもりでこう言うのでない。前にも言ったように、あなたがたはわたしの心のうちにいて、わたしたちと生死を共にしているのである。
7:3 I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that all of you are in our hearts to die and live with you.
7:4 わたしたちはあなたがたを大いに信頼し、大いに誇っている。また、あふれるばかり慰めを受け、あらゆる患難の中にあって喜びに満ちあふれている。
7:4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.
7:5 さて、マケドニヤに着いたとき、わたしたちの身に少しの休みもなく、さまざまの患難に会い、外には戦い、内には恐れがあった。
7:5 For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
7:6 しかるに、うちしおれている者を慰める神は、テトスの到来によって、わたしたちを慰めて下さった。
7:6 Nevertheless God, that comforts those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7:7 ただ彼の到来によるばかりではなく、彼があなたがたからその慰めをもって、慰めて下さった。すなわち、あなたがたがわたしを慕っていること、嘆いていること、またわたしに対して熱心であることを知らせてくれたので、わたしの喜びはいよいよ増し加わったのである。
7:7 And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earn desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
7:8 そこで、たとい、あの手紙であなたがたを悲しませたとしても、わたしはそれを悔いていない。あの手紙がしばらくの間ではあるが、あなたがたを悲しませたのを見て悔いたとしても、
7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
7:9 今は喜んでいる。それは、あなたがたが悲しんだからではなく、悲しんで悔い改めるに至ったからである。あなたがたがそのように悲しんだのは、
7:9 Now I rejoice, not that all of you were made sorry, but that all of you sorrowed to repentance: for all of you were made sorry after a godly manner, that all of you might receive damage by us in nothing.
7:10 神のみこころに添うたことであって、わたしたちからはなんの損害も受けなかったのである。神のみこころに添うた悲しみは、悔いのない救いを得させる悔改めに導き、この世の悲しみは死をきたらせる。
7:10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.
7:11 見よ、神のみこころに添うたその悲しみが、どんなにか熱情をあなたがたに起こさせたことか。また、弁明、義憤、恐れ、愛慕、熱意、それから処罰に至らせたことが。あなたがたはあの問題については、すべての点において潔白であることを証明したのである。
7:11 For behold this very same thing, that all of you sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things all of you have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
7:12 だから、わたしがあなたがたに書きおくったのは、不義をした人のためでも、不義を受けた人のためでもなく、わたしたちに対するあなたがたの熱情が、神の前にあなたがたの間で明らかになるためである。
7:12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
7:13 こういうわけで、わたしたちは慰められたのである。これらの慰めの上にテトスの喜びが加わって、わたしたちはなおいっそう喜んだ。彼があなたがた一同によって安心させられたからである。
7:13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly more rejoice did we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit (o. pneuma) was refreshed by you all.
7:14 そして、わたしは彼に対してあなたがたのことを少し誇ったが、それはわたしの恥にならないですんだ。あなたがたにいっさいのことを真実に語ったように、テトスに対して誇ったことも真実となってきたのでる。
7:14 For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.
7:15 また彼は、あなたがた一同が従順であって、おそれおののきつつ自分を迎えてくれたことを思い出して、ますます心をあなたがたの方に寄せている。わたしは、あなたがたに全く信頼することができて、喜んでいる。
7:15 And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling all of you received him.
7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.
8:1 兄弟たちよ。わたしたちはここで、マケドニヤの諸教会に与えられた神の恵みを、あなたがたに知らせよう。
8:1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to know of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
8:2 すなわち、彼らは、患難のために激しい試練をうけたが、その満ちあふれる喜びは、極度の貧しさにもかかわらず、あふれ出て惜しみなく施す富となったのである。
8:2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
8:3 わたしはあかしするが、彼らは力に応じて、否、力以上に施しをした。すなわち、自ら進んで、
8:3 In order to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
8:4 聖徒たちへの奉仕に加わる恵みにあずかりたいと、わたしたちに熱心に願い出て、
8:4 Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
8:5 わたしたちの希望どおりにしたばかりか、自分自身をまず、神のみこころににしたがって、主にささげ、また、わたしたちにもささげたのである。
8:5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
8:6 そこで、この募金をテトスがあなたがたの所で、すでに始めたい上、またそれを完成するようにと、わたしたちは彼に勧めたのである。
8:6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
8:7 さて、あなたがたがあらゆる事がらについて富んでいるように、すなわち、信仰にも言葉にも知識にも、あらゆる熱情にも、また、あなたがたに対するわたしたちの愛にも富んでいるように、この恵みのわざにも富んでほしい。
8:7 Therefore, as all of you abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, (o. logos) and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love (o. agape) to us, see that all of you abound in this grace also.
8:8 こう言っても、わたしは命令するのではない。ただ、他の人たちの熱情によって、あなたがたの愛の純真さをためそうとするのである。
8:8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. (o. agape)
8:9 あなたがたは、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの恵みを知っている。すなわち、主は富んでおられたのに、あなたがたのために貧しくなられた。それは、あなたがたかが、彼の貧しさによって富む者になるためである。
8:9 For all of you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that all of you through his poverty might be rich.
8:10 そこで、わたしは、この恵みのわざについて意見を述べよう。それがあなたがたの益になるからである。あなたがたはこの事を、昨年以来、他に先んじて実行したばかりではなく、それを願っていた。
8:10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
8:11 だから今、それをやりどげなさい。あなたがたが心から願っているように、持っているところに応じて、それをやりとげなさい。
8:11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which all of you have.
8:12 もし心から願ってそうするなら、持たないところによらず、持っているところによって、神に受けいれられたのである。
8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man has, and not according to that he has not.
8:13 それは、ほかの人々に楽をさせて、あなたがたに苦労をさせようとするのではなく、持ち物を等しくするためである。
8:13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and all of you burdened:
8:14 すなわち、今の場合は、あなたがたの余裕があの人たちの欠乏を補い、後には、彼らの余裕があなたがたの欠乏を補い、こうして等しくなるようにするのである。
8:14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their lack, that their abundance also may be a supply for your lack: that there may be equality:
8:15 それは「多く得た者も余ることがなく、少ししか得なかった者も足りないことはなかった」と書いてあるとおりである。
8:15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
8:16 わたしがあなたがたに対して持っている同じ熱情を、テトスの心にも与えて下さった神に感謝する。
8:16 But thanks be to God, which put the same earn care into the heart of Titus for you.
8:17 彼はわたしの勧めを受けいれ、そして更に熱心になって、自分から進んであなたがたのところに行った。
8:17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.
8:18 わたしたちはまた、テトスと一緒に、ひとりの兄弟を送る。この兄弟が福音宣伝の上で得たほまれは、すべての教会に聞こえているが、
8:18 And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;
8:19 そのうえ、彼は、主ご自身の栄光があらわれるため、また、わたしたちの好意を示すために、骨を折って贈り物を集めているわたしたちの同伴者として、諸教会から選ばれたのである。
8:19 And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
8:20 そうしたのは、わたしたちが集めているこの寄付金のことについて、人にかれこり言われるのを避けるためである。
8:20 Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:
8:21 わたしたちは、主のみまえばかりではなく、人の前でも公正であるように、気を配っているのである。
8:21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
8:22 また、もうひとりの兄弟を彼らと一緒に送る。わたしたちは、多くの事について彼が熱心であったことを、たびたび認めた。彼は今、あなたがたを非常に信頼して、ますます熱心になっている。
8:22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.
8:23 テトスについて言えば、彼はわたしの仲間であり、あなたがたに対するわたしの協力者である。この兄弟たちについて言えば、彼らは諸教会の使者、キリストの栄光である。
8:23 Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellow-helper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.
8:24 だから、あなたがたの愛と、また、あなたがたについてわたしたちがいだいている誇りとが、真実であることを、諸教会の前で彼らにあかししていただきたい。
8:24 Wherefore show all of you to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, (o. agape) and of our boasting on your behalf.
9:1 使徒たちに対する援助については、いまさら、あなたがたに書きおくる必要はない。
9:1 For as concerning the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
9:2 わたしは、あなたがたの好意を知っており、そのために、あなたがたのことをマケドニヤの人々に誇って、アカヤでは昨年以来、すでに準備をしているのだと言った。そして、あなたがたの熱心は、多くの人を奮起させたのである。
9:2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has provoked very many.
9:3 わたしが兄弟たちを送ることにしたのは、あなたがたについてわたしたちの誇ったことが、この場合むなしくならないで、わたしが言ったとおり準備していてもらいたいからである。
9:3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, all of you may be ready:
9:4 そうでないと、万一マケドニヤ人がわたしと一緒に行って、準備ができていないのを見たら、あなたがたはもちろん、わたしたちも、かのように信じきっていただけに、恥をかくことになろう。
9:4 Lest lest by any means if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, all of you) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
9:5 だから、わたしは兄弟たちを促して、あなたがたの所へ先に行かせ、以前あなたがたが約束していた贈り物の準備をさせておくことが必要だと思った。それをしぶりながらではなく、心をこめて用意してほしい。
9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof all of you had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
9:6 わたしの考えはこうである。少ししかまかない者は、少ししか刈り取らず、豊かにまく者は、豊かに刈り取ることになる。
9:6 But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
9:7 各自は惜しむ心からでなく、また、しいられてでもなく、自ら心で決めたとおりにすべきである。
9:7 Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.
9:8 神は喜んで施す人を愛して下さるのである。神はあなたがたにあらゆる恵みを豊かに与え、あなたがたを常にすべてのことに満ち足らせ、すべての良いわざに富ませる力のあるかたなのである。
9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that all of you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9:9 「彼は貧しい人たちに散らして与えた。その義は永遠に続くであろう」と書いてあるとおりである。
9:9 (As it is written, He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: his righteousness remains for ever.
9:10 種まく人に種と食べるためのパンとを備えて下さるかたは、あなたがたにも種を備え、それをふやし、そしてあなたがたの義の実を増して下さるのである。
9:10 Now he that ministers seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
9:11 こうして、あなたがたはすべてのことに豊かになって、惜しみなく施し、その施しはわたしたちの手によって行われ、神に感謝するに至るのである。
9:11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God.
9:12 なぜなら、この援助の働きは、聖徒たちの欠乏を補うだけではなく、神に対する多くの感謝によってますます豊かになるからである。
9:12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the lack of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
9:13 すなわち、この援助を行った結果として、あなたがたがキリストの福音の告白に対して従順であることや、彼らにも、すべての人にも、惜しみなく施しをしていることがわかってきて、彼らは神に栄光を帰し、
9:13 While by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
9:14 そして、あなたがたに賜ったきわめて豊かな神の恵みのゆえに、あなたがたを慕い、あなたがたのために祈るのである。
9:14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
9:15 言いつくせない賜物のゆえに、神に感謝する。
9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
10:1 さて、「あなたがたの間にいて面と向かってはおとなしいが、離れていると、気が強くなる」このパウロが、キリストの優しさ、寛大さをもって、あなたがたに勧める。
10:1 Now I Paul myself plead to you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
10:2 わたしたちを肉に従って歩いているかのように思っている人々に対しては、わたしは勇敢に行動するつもりであるが、あなたがたの所では、どうか、そのような思いきったことをしないですむようでありたい。
10:2 But I plead to you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
10:3 わたしたちは、肉にあって歩いてはいるが、肉に従って戦っているのではない。
10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
10:4 わたしたちの戦いの武器は、肉のものではなく、神のためには要塞をも破壊するほどの力があるものである。わたしたちはさまざまな議論を破り、
10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
10:5 神の知恵に逆らって立てられたあらゆる障害物を打ちこわし、すべての思いをとりこにしてキリストに服従させ、
10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
10:6 そして、あなたがたが完全に服従した時、すべて不従順な者を処罰しようと、用意しているのである。
10:6 And being alert to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
10:7 あなたがたは、うわべの事だけを見ている。もしある人が、キリストに属する者だと自任しているなら、その人はもう一度よく反省すべきである。その人がキリストに属する者であるように、わたしたちもそうでありたる。
10:7 Do all of you look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
10:8 たとい、あなたがたを倒すためではなく高めるために主からわたしたちに賜った権威について、わたしがやや誇りすぎたとしても、恥になるまい。
10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord has given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
10:9 ただ、わたしは、手紙であなたがたをおどしているのだと、思われたくない。
10:9 That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
10:10 人は言う、「彼の手紙は重みがあって力強いが、会って見ると外見は弱々しく、話はつまらない」。
10:10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech (o. logos) contemptible.
10:11 そういう人は心得ているがよい。わたしたちは、離れていて書き送る手紙の言葉どおりに、一緒にいる時でも同じようにふるまうのである。
10:11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word (o. logos) by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
10:12 わたしたちは、自己推薦するような人々と自分を同列においたり比較したりはしない。彼らは仲間同士で互にはかり合ったり、互に比べ合ったりしているが、知恵のないしわざである。
10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
10:13 しかし、わたしたちは限度をこえて誇るようなことはしない。むしろ、神が割り当てて下さった地域の限度以内で誇るにすぎない。わたしたちはその限度にしたがって、あなたがたの所まで行ったのである。
10:13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God has distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
10:14 わたしたちは、あなたがたの所まで行けない者であるかのように、むりに手を延ばしているのではない。事実、わたしたちが最初にキリストの福音を携えて、あなたがたの所までも行ったのである。
10:14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
10:15 わたしたちは限度をこえて、他人の働きを誇るようなことはしない。ただ、あなたがたの信仰が成長するにつれて、わたしたちの働きの範囲があなたがたの中でますます大きくなることを望んでいる。
10:15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
10:16 こうして、わたしたちはほかの人の地域ですでになされていることを誇ることはせずに、あなたがたを越えたさきざきにまで、福音を宣べ伝えたい。
10:16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.
10:17 誇る者は主を誇るべきである。
10:17 But he that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
10:18 自分で自分を推薦する人ではなく、主に推薦される人こそ、確かな人なのである。
10:18 For not he that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
11:1 わたしが少しばかり愚かなことを言うのを、どうか、忍んでほしい。もちろん忍んでくれるのだ。
11:1 Would to God all of you could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
11:2 わたしは神の熱情をもって、あなたがたを熱愛している。あなたがたを、きよいおとめとして、ただひとりの男子キリストにささげるために、婚約させたのである。
11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
11:3 ただ恐れるのは、エバがへびの悪巧みで誘惑されたように、あなたがたの思いが汚されて、キリストに対する純情と貞操とを失いはしないかということである。
11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent misled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
11:4 というのは、もしある人がきて、わたしたちが宣べ伝えもしなかったような異なるイエスを宣べ伝え、あるいは、あなたがたがうけいれたことのない違った福音を聞く場合に、あなたがたはよくもそれを忍んでいる。
11:4 For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if all of you receive another spirit, (o. pneuma) which all of you have not received, or another gospel, which all of you have not accepted, all of you might well bear with him.
11:5 事実、わたしは、あの大使徒たちにいささかも劣ってはいないと思う。
11:5 For I suppose I was not a thing behind the very chiefest apostles.
11:6 たとい弁舌はつたなくても、知識はそうではない。わたしは、事ごとに、いろいろの場合に、あなたがたに対してそれを明らかにした。
11:6 But though I be rude in speech, (o. logos) yet not in knowledge; but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things.
11:7 それとも、あなたがたを高めるために自分を低くして、神の福音を価なしにあなたがたに宣べ伝えたことが、罪になるのだろうか。
11:7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that all of you might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
11:8 わたしは他の諸教会をかすめたと言われながら得た金で、あなたがに奉仕し、
11:8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
11:9 あなたがたの所にいて貧乏した時にも、だれにも負担をかけたことはなかった。わたしの欠乏は、マケドニヤからきた兄弟たちが、補ってくれた。こうして、わたしはすべての事につき、あなたがたに重荷を負わせまいと務めてきたし、今後も務めよう。
11:9 And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
11:10 わたしの内にあるキリストの真実にかけて言う、この誇りがアカヤ地方で封じられるようなことは、決してない。
11:10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
11:11 なぜであるか。わたしがあなたがたを愛していないからか。それは、神がこ存知である。
11:11 Wherefore? because I love you not? God knows.
11:12 しかし、わたしは、現在していることを今後もしていこう。それは、わたしたちと同じように誇りうる立ち場を得ようと機械をねらっている者どもから、その機会を断ち切ってしまうためである。
11:12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
11:13 こういう人々はにせ使徒、人をだます働き人であって、キリストの使徒に偽装しているにすぎないからである。
11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
11:14 しかし、驚くには及ばない。サタンも光の天使に偽装するのだから。
11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
11:15 だから、たといサタンの手下とどもが、義の奉仕者のように偽装したとしても、不思議ではない。彼らの最期は、そのしわざに合ったものとなろう。
11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
11:16 繰り返して言うが、だれも、わたしを愚か者と思わないでほしい。もしそう思うなら、愚か者あつかいされてよいから、わたしにも、少し誇らせてほしい。
11:16 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
11:17 いま言う事は、主によって言うのではなく、愚か者のように、自分の誇りとするところを信じきって言うのである。
11:17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
11:18 多くの人が肉によって誇っているから、わたしも誇ろう。
11:18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
11:19 あなたがたは賢い人たちなのだから、喜んで愚か者を忍んでくれるだろう。
11:19 For all of you suffer fools gladly, seeing all of you yourselves are wise.
11:20 実際、あなたがたは奴隷にされても、食い倒されても、略奪されても、いばられても、顔をたたかれても、それを忍んでいる。
11:20 For all of you suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man strike you on the face.
11:21 言うのも恥ずかしいことだが、わたしたちは弱すぎたのだ。もしある人があえて誇るなら、わたしは愚か者になって言うが、わたしもあえて誇ろう。
11:21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Nevertheless whatever that anyone is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
11:22 彼らはヘブル人なのか。わたしもそうである。彼らはイスラエル人なのか。わたしもそうである。彼らはアブラハムの子孫なのか。わたしもそうである。
11:22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
11:23 彼らはキリストの僕なのか。わたしは気が狂ったようになって言う、わたしは彼ら以上にそうである。苦労したことはもっと多く、投獄されたことももっと多く、むち打たれたことは、はるかにおびただしく、死に面したこともしばしばあった。
11:23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often.
11:24 ユダヤ人から四十に一つ足りないむちを受けたことが五度、
11:24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
11:25 ローマ人にむちで打たれたことが三度、石で打たれたことが一度、難船したことが三度、そして、一昼夜、海の上で漂ったこともある。
11:25 Three times was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, three times I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
11:26 幾たびも旅をし、川の難、盗賊の難、同国民の難、異邦人の難、都会の難、荒野の難、海上の難、にせ兄弟の難に会い、
11:26 In journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
11:27 労し苦しみ、たびたび眠られぬ夜を過ごし、飢えかわき、しばしば食物がなく、寒さに凍え、裸でいたこともあった。
11:27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
11:28 なおいろいろの事があった外に、日々わたしに迫って来る諸教会の心配ごとがある。
11:28 Beside those things that are without, that which comes upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
11:29 だれかが弱っているのに、わたしも弱らないでおられようか。だれかが罪を犯しているのに、わたしの心が燃えないでおられようか。
11:29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
11:30 もし誇らねばならないのなら、わたしは自分の弱さを誇ろう。
11:30 If I must essentially glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
11:31 永遠にほむべき、主イエス・キリストの父なる神は、わたしが偽りを行っていないことを、ご存知である。
11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knows that I lie not.
11:32 ダマスコでアレタ王の代官が、わたしを捕らえるためにダマスコ人の町を監視したことがあったが、
11:32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
11:33 その時わたしは窓から町の城壁をづたいに、かごでつり降ろされて、彼の手からのがれた。
11:33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.
12:1 わたしは誇らざるを得ないので、無益ではあろうが、主のまぼろしと掲示とについて語ろう。
12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
12:2 わたしはキリストにあるひとりの人を知っている。この人は十四年前に第三の天まで引き上げられたーーそれが、からだのままであったか、からだを離れてであったか、それは知らない。神がご存知である。
12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
12:3 この人がーーそれが、からだのままであったか、からだを離れてであったか、わたしは知らない。神がご存知であるーー
12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows;)
12:4 パラダイスに引き上げられ、そして口に言い表せない、人間が語ってはならない言葉を聞いたのを、わたしは知っている。
12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, (o. rhema) which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
12:5 わたしはこういう人について誇ろう。しかし、わたし自身については、自分の弱さ以外には誇ることはすまい。
12:5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
12:6 もっとも、わたしが誇ろうとすれば、ほんとうの事を言うのだから、愚か者にはならないだろう。しかし、それはさし控えよう。わたしがすぐれた啓示を受けているので、わたしについて見たり聞いたりしている以上に、人に買いかぶられるかも知れないから。
12:6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he sees me to be, or that he hears of me.
12:7 そこで、高慢にならないように、わたしの肉体に一つのとげが与えられた。それは、高慢にならないように、わたしを打つサタンの使いなのである。
12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
12:8 このことについて、わたしは彼を離れさらせて下さるようにと、三度も主に祈った。
12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord three times, that it might depart from me.
12:9 ところが、主が言われた、「わたしの恵みはあなたに対して十分である。わたしの力は弱いところに完全にあらわれる」。それだから、キリストの力がわたしに宿るように、むしろ、喜んで自分の弱さを誇ろう。
12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
12:10 だから、わたしはキリストのためならば、弱さと、侮辱と、危機と、迫害と、行き詰まりとに甘んじよう。なぜなら、わたしが弱い時にこそ、わたしは強いからである。
12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
12:11 わたしは愚か者となった。あなたがたが、むりにわたしをそうしてしまったのだ。実際は、あなたがたから推薦されるべきであった取るに足りない者だとしても、あの大使徒たちにはなんら劣るところがないからである。
12:11 I am become a fool in glorying; all of you have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
12:12 わたしは、使徒たるの実を、しるしと奇跡と力あるわざとにより、忍耐をつくして、あなたがたの間であらわしてきた。
12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
12:13 いったい、あなたがたが他の教会よりも劣っている点は何か。ただ、このわたしがあなたがたに負担をかけなかったことだけではないか。この不義は、どうか、ゆるしてもらいたい。
12:13 For what is it wherein all of you were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.
12:14 さて、わたしは今、三度目にあなたがたの所に行く用意をしている。しかし、負担をかけないつもりである。わたしの求めているものは、あなたがたの持ち物ではなく、あなたがた自身なのだから。いったい、子供は親のために財をたくわえて置く必要はなく、親が子供のためにたくわえて置くべきである。
12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not your's but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
12:15 そこでわたしは、あなたがたの魂のためには、大いに喜んで費用を使い、また、わたし自身をも使いつくそう。わたしがあなたがたを愛すれば愛するほど、あなたがたからますます愛されなくなるのであろうか。
12:15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
12:16 わたしは、あなたがたに重荷を負わせなかったとしても、悪がしこくて、あなたがたからだまし取ったのだと、人は言う。
12:16 But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
12:17 わたしは、あなたがたにつかわした人たちのうちのだれかをとおして、あなたがたからむさぼり取っただろうか。
12:17 Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you?
12:18 わたしは、テトスに勧めてそちらに行かせ、また、かの兄弟を同行させた。テトスは、あなたがたからむさぼり取ったことがあろうか。わたしたちは、みな同じ心で歩いたではないか。同じ足並みで歩いたではないか。
12:18 I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? (o. pneuma) walked we not in the same steps?
12:19 あなたがたは、わたしたちがあなたがたに対して弁明しているのだと、今までずっと思ってきたであろう。しかし、わたしたちは、神のみまえでキリストにあって語っているのである。愛する者たちよ。これらすべてのことは、あなたがたの徳を高めるためなのである。
12:19 Again, think all of you that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
12:20 わたしは、こんな心配をしている。わたしが行ってみると、もしかしたら、あなたがたがわたしの願っているような者ではなく、わたしも、あなたがたが願っているような者でないことになりはすまいか。もしかしたら、争い、ねたみ、怒り、党派心、そしり、ざんげん、高慢、争乱などがありはすまいか。
12:20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as all of you would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
12:21 わたしが再びそちらに行った場合、わたしの神が、あなたがたの前でわたしに恥をかかせ、その上、多くの人が前に罪を犯していながら、その汚れと不品行と好色とを悔い改めていないので、わたしを悲しませることになりはすまいか。
12:21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall mourn for many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
13:1 わたしは今、三度目にあなたがたの所に行こうとしている。すべての事がらは、ふたりか三人の証人の証言によって確定する。
13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word (o. rhema) be established.
13:2 わたしは、前に罪を犯した者たちやその他のすべての人々に、二度目に滞在していたとき警告しておいたが、離れている今またあらかじめ言っておく。今度行った時には、決して容赦はしない。
13:2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which in time past have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
13:3 なぜなら、あなたがたが、キリストのわたしにあって語っておられるという証拠を求めているからである。キリストは、あなたがたに対して弱くはなく、あなたがたのうちにあって強い。
13:3 Since all of you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which toward you is not weak, but is mighty in you.
13:4 すなわち、キリストは弱さのゆえに十字架につけられたが、神の力によって生きておられるのである。このように、わたしたちもキリストにあって弱い者であるが、あなたがたに対しては、神の力によって、キリストと共に生きるのである。
13:4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
13:5 あなたがたは、はたして信仰があるかどうか、自分を反省し、自分を吟味するがよい。それとも、イエス・キリストがあなたがたのうちにおられることを、悟らないのか。もし悟らなければ、あなたがたは、にせものとして見捨てられる。
13:5 Examine yourselves, whether all of you be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know all of you not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except all of you be reprobates?
13:6 しかしわたしは、自分たちが見捨てられた者ではないことを、知っていてもらたい。
13:6 But I trust that all of you shall know that we are not reprobates.
13:7 わたしたちは、あなたがたがどんな悪も行わないようにと、神に祈る。それは、自分たちがほんとうの者であることを見せるためではなく、たといわたしたちが見捨てられた者のようになっても、あなたがたに良い行いをしてもらいたいためである。
13:7 Now I pray to God that all of you do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that all of you should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
13:8 わたしたちは、真理に逆らっては何をする力もなく、真理にしたがえば力がある。
13:8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
13:9 わたしたちは、自分は弱くても、あなたがたが強ければ、それを喜ぶ。わたしたちが特に祈るのは、あなたがたが完全に良くなってくれることである。
13:9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and all of you are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
13:10 こういうわけで、離れていて以上のようなことを書いたのは、わたしがあなたがたの所に言ったとき、倒すためではなく高めるために主が授けて下さった権威を用いて、きびしい処置をする必要がないようにしたいためである。
13:10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord has given me to edification, and not to destruction.
13:11 最後に、兄弟たちよ。いつも喜びなさい。全き者となりなさい。互に励まし合いなさい。思いを一つにしなさい。平和に過ごしなさい。そうすれば、愛と平和の神があなたがたと共にいて下さるであろう。
13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love (o. agape) and peace shall be with you.
13:12 きよい接吻をもって互にあいさつをかわしなさい。聖徒たち一同が、あなたがたによろしく。
13:12 Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you.
13:13 主イエス・キリストの恵みと、神の愛と、聖霊の交わりとが、あなたがた一同と共にあるように。
13:13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love (o. agape) of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) be with you all. Amen.
