39:1 わたしは言った、「舌をもって罪を犯さないために、わたしの道を慎み、悪しき者のわたしの前にある間は／わたしの口にくつわをかけよう」と。
39:1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
39:2 わたしは黙して物言わず、むなしく沈黙を守った。しかし、わたしの悩みはさらにひどくなり、
39:2 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
39:3 わたしの心はわたしのうちに熱し、思いつづけるほどに火が燃えたので、わたしは舌をもって語った。
39:3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spoke I with my tongue,
39:4 「主よ、わが終りと、わが日の数のどれほどであるかをわたしに知らせ、わが命のいかにはかないかを知らせてください。
39:4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.
39:5 見よ、あなたはわたしの日をつかのまとされました。わたしの一生はあなたの前では無にひとしいのです。まことに、すべての人はその盛んな時でも／息にすぎません。〔セラ
39:5 Behold, you have made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before you: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
39:6 まことに人は影のように、さまよいます。まことに彼らはむなしい事のために／騒ぎまわるのです。彼は積みたくわえるけれども、だれがそれを収めるかを知りません。
39:6 Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.
39:7 主よ、今わたしは何を待ち望みましょう。わたしの望みはあなたにあります。
39:7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in you.
39:8 わたしをすべてのとがから助け出し、愚かな者にわたしをあざけらせないでください。
39:8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
39:9 わたしは黙して口を開きません。あなたがそれをなされたからです。
39:9 I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because you did it.
39:10 あなたが下された災を／わたしから取り去ってください。わたしはあなたのみ手に打ち懲らされることにより／滅びるばかりです。
39:10 Remove your stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of yours hand.
39:11 あなたは罪を責めて人を懲らされるとき、その慕い喜ぶものを、しみが食うように、消し滅ぼされるのです。まことにすべての人は息にすぎません。〔セラ
39:11 When you with rebukes do correct man for iniquity, you make his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
39:12 主よ、わたしの祈を聞き、わたしの叫びに耳を傾け、わたしの涙を見て、もださないでください。わたしはあなたに身を寄せる旅びと、わがすべての先祖たちのように寄留者です。
39:12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not your peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with you, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
39:13 わたしが去って、うせない前に、み顔をそむけて、わたしを喜ばせてください」。
39:13 O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go behind, and be no more.

40:1 わたしは耐え忍んで主を待ち望んだ。主は耳を傾けて、わたしの叫びを聞かれた。
40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
40:2 主はわたしを滅びの穴から、泥の沼から引きあげて、わたしの足を岩の上におき、わたしの歩みをたしかにされた。
40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my activities.
40:3 主は新しい歌をわたしの口に授け、われらの神にささげるさんびの歌を／わたしの口に授けられた。多くの人はこれを見て恐れ、かつ主に信頼するであろう。
40:3 And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
40:4 主をおのが頼みとする人、高ぶる者にたよらず、偽りの神に迷う者にたよらない人はさいわいである。
40:4 Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust, and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
40:5 わが神、主よ、あなたのくすしきみわざと、われらを思うみおもいとは多くて、くらべうるものはない。わたしはこれを語り述べようとしても／多くて数えることはできない。
40:5 Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
40:6 あなたはいけにえと供え物とを喜ばれない。あなたはわたしの耳を開かれた。あなたは燔祭と罪祭とを求められない。
40:6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; mine ears have you opened: burnt offering and sin offering have you not required.
40:7 その時わたしは言った、「見よ、わたしはまいります。書の巻に、わたしのためにしるされています。
40:7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
40:8 わが神よ、わたしはみこころを行うことを喜びます。あなたのおきてはわたしの心のうちにあります」と。
40:8 I delight to do your will, O my God: yea, your law is within my heart.
40:9 わたしは大いなる集会で、救についての喜びのおとずれを告げ示しました。見よ、わたしはくちびるを閉じませんでした。主よ、あなたはこれをご存じです。
40:9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, you know.
40:10 わたしはあなたの救を心のうちに隠しおかず、あなたのまことと救とを告げ示しました。わたしはあなたのいつくしみとまこととを／大いなる集会に隠しませんでした。
40:10 I have not hid your righteousness within my heart; I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation: I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great congregation.
40:11 主よ、あなたのあわれみをわたしに惜しまず、あなたのいつくしみとまこととをもって／常にわたしをお守りください。
40:11 Withhold not you your tender mercies from me, O LORD: let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
40:12 数えがたい災がわたしを囲み、わたしの不義がわたしに追い迫って、物見ることができないまでになりました。それはわたしの頭の毛よりも多く、わたしの心は消えうせるばかりになりました。
40:12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart fails me.
40:13 主よ、みこころならばわたしをお救いください。主よ、すみやかにわたしをお助けください。
40:13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
40:14 わたしのいのちを奪おうと尋ね求める者どもを／ことごとく恥じあわてさせてください。わたしのそこなわれることを願う者どもを／うしろに退かせ、恥を負わせてください。
40:14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
40:15 わたしにむかって「あはぁ、あはぁ」と言う者どもを／自分の恥によって恐れおののかせてください。
40:15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
40:16 しかし、すべてあなたを尋ね求める者は／あなたによって喜び楽しむように。あなたの救を愛する者は／常に「主は大いなるかな」ととなえるように。
40:16 Let all those that seek you rejoice and be glad in you: let such as love your salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
40:17 わたしは貧しく、かつ乏しい。しかし主はわたしをかえりみられます。あなたはわが助け、わが救主です。わが神よ、ためらわないでください。
40:17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me: you are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

41:1 貧しい者をかえりみる人はさいわいである。主はそのような人を悩みの日に救い出される。
41:1 Blessed is he that considers the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
41:2 主は彼を守って、生きながらえさせられる。彼はこの地にあって、さいわいな者と呼ばれる。あなたは彼をその敵の欲望にわたされない。
41:2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and you will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
41:3 主は彼をその病の床でささえられる。あなたは彼の病む時、その病をことごとくいやされる。
41:3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: you will make all his bed in his sickness.

41:4 I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.
41:5 わたしの敵はわたしをそしって言う、「いつ彼は死に、その名がほろびるであろうか」と。
41:5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
41:6 そのひとりがわたしを見ようとして来るとき、彼は偽りを語り、その心によこしまを集め、外に出てはそれを言いふらす。
41:6 And if he comes to see me, he speaks vanity: his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he tells it.
41:7 すべてわたしを憎む者は／わたしについて共にささやき、わたしのために災を思いめぐらす。
41:7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
41:8 彼らは言う、「彼に一つのたたりがつきまとったから、倒れ伏して再び起きあがらないであろう」と。
41:8 An evil disease, say they, cleaves fast unto him: and now that he lies he shall rise up no more.
41:9 わたしの信頼した親しい友、わたしのパンを食べた親しい友さえも／わたしにそむいてくびすをあげた。
41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
41:10 しかし主よ、わたしをあわれみ、わたしを助け起してください。そうすればわたしは彼らに報い返すことができます。
41:10 But you, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
41:11 わたしの敵がわたしに打ち勝てないことによって、あなたがわたしを喜ばれることを／わたしは知ります。
41:11 By this I know that you favour me, because mine enemy does not triumph over me.
41:12 あなたはわたしの全きによって、わたしをささえ、とこしえにみ前に置かれます。
41:12 And as for me, you uphold me in mine integrity, and set me before your face for ever.
41:13 イスラエルの神、主は／とこしえからとこしえまでほむべきかな。アァメン、アァメン。
41:13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

42:1 神よ、しかが谷川を慕いあえぐように、わが魂もあなたを慕いあえぐ。
42:1 As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God.
42:2 わが魂はかわいているように神を慕い、いける神を慕う。いつ、わたしは行って神のみ顔を／見ることができるだろうか。
42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
42:3 人々がひねもすわたしにむかって／「おまえの神はどこにいるのか」と言いつづける間は／わたしの涙は昼も夜もわたしの食物であった。
42:3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is your God?
42:4 わたしはかつて祭を守る多くの人と共に／群れをなして行き、喜びと感謝の歌をもって彼らを神の家に導いた。今これらの事を思い起して、わが魂をそそぎ出すのである。
42:4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
42:5 わが魂よ、何ゆえうなだれるのか。何ゆえわたしのうちに思いみだれるのか。神を待ち望め。わたしはなおわが助け、わが神なる主をほめたたえるであろう。
42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
42:6 わが魂はわたしのうちにうなだれる。それで、わたしはヨルダンの地から、またヘルモンから、ミザルの山からあなたを思い起す。
42:6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
42:7 あなたの大滝の響きによって淵々呼びこたえ、あなたの波、あなたの大波は／ことごとくわたしの上を越えていった。
42:7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterspouts: all your waves and your billows are gone over me.
42:8 昼には、主はそのいつくしみをほどこし、夜には、その歌すなわちわがいのちの神にささげる／祈がわたしと共にある。
42:8 Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
42:9 わたしはわが岩なる神に言う、「何ゆえわたしをお忘れになりましたか。何ゆえわたしは敵のしえたげによって／悲しみ歩くのですか」と。
42:9 I will say unto God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
42:10 わたしのあだは骨も砕けるばかりに／わたしをののしり、ひねもすわたしにむかって／「おまえの神はどこにいるのか」と言う。
42:10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is your God?
42:11 わが魂よ、何ゆえうなだれるのか。何ゆえわたしのうちに思いみだれるのか。神を待ち望め。わたしはなおわが助け、わが神なる主をほめたたえるであろう。
42:11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
43:1 神よ、わたしをさばき、神を恐れない民にむかって、わたしの訴えをあげつらい、たばかりをなすよこしまな人から／わたしを助け出してください。
43:1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
43:2 あなたはわたしの寄り頼む神です。なぜわたしを捨てられたのですか。なぜわたしは敵のしえたげによって／悲しみ歩くのですか。
43:2 For you are the God of my strength: why do you cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
43:3 あなたの光とまこととを送ってわたしを導き、あなたの聖なる山と、あなたの住まわれる所に／わたしをいたらせてください。
43:3 O send out your light and your truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto your holy hill, and to your tabernacles.
43:4 その時わたしは神の祭壇へ行き、わたしの大きな喜びである神へ行きます。神よ、わが神よ、わたしは琴をもってあなたをほめたたえます。
43:4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise you, O God my God.
43:5 わが魂よ、何ゆえうなだれるのか。何ゆえわたしのうちに思いみだれるのか。神を待ち望め。わたしはなおわが助け、わが神なる主をほめたたえるであろう。

44:1 神よ、いにしえ、われらの先祖たちの日に、あなたがなされたみわざを／彼らがわれらに語ったのを耳で聞きました。
44:1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old.
44:2 すなわちあなたはみ手をもって、もろもろの国民を／追い払ってわれらの先祖たちを植え、またもろもろの民を悩まして、われらの先祖たちをふえ広がらせられました。
44:2 How you did drive out the heathen with your hand, and planted them; how you did afflict the people, and cast them out.
44:3 彼らは自分のつるぎによって国を獲たのでなく、また自分の腕によって勝利を得たのでもありません。ただあなたの右の手、あなたの腕、あなたのみ顔の光によるのでした。あなたが彼らを恵まれたからです。
44:3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but your right hand, and yours arm, and the light of your countenance, because you had a favour unto them.
44:4 あなたはわが王、わが神、ヤコブのために勝利を定められる方です。
44:4 You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
44:5 われらはあなたによって、あだを押し倒し、われらに立ちむかう者を、み名によって踏みにじるのです。
44:5 Through you will we push down our enemies: through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
44:6 わたしは自分の弓を頼まず、わたしのつるぎもまた、わたしを救うことができないからです。
44:6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
44:7 しかしあなたはわれらをあだから救い、われらを憎む者をはずかしめられました。
44:7 But you have saved us from our enemies, and have put them to shame that hated us.
44:8 われらは常に神によって誇り、とこしえにあなたのみ名に感謝するでしょう。〔セラ
44:8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise your name for ever. Selah.
44:9 ところがあなたはわれらを捨てて恥を負わせ、われらの軍勢と共に出て行かれませんでした。
44:9 But you have cast off, and put us to shame; and go not forth with our armies.
44:10 あなたがわれらをあだの前から退かせられたので、われらの敵は心のままにかすめ奪いました。
44:10 You make us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
44:11 あなたはわれらをほふられる羊のようにし、またもろもろの国民のなかに散らされました。
44:11 You have given us like sheep appointed for food; and have scattered us among the heathen.
44:12 あなたはわずかの金であなたの民を売り、彼らのために高い価を求められませんでした。
44:12 You sell your people for nothing, and do not increase your wealth by their price.
44:13 あなたはわれらを隣り人にそしらせ、われらをめぐる者どもに侮らせ、あざけらせられました。
44:13 You make us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
44:14 またもろもろの国民のなかにわれらを笑い草とし、もろもろの民のなかに笑い者とされました。
44:14 You make us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
44:15 わがはずかしめはひねもすわたしの前にあり、恥はわたしの顔をおおいました。
44:15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,
44:16 これはそしる者と、ののしる者の言葉により、敵と、恨みを報いる者のゆえによるのです。
44:16 For the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
44:17 これらの事が皆われらに臨みましたが、われらはあなたを忘れず、あなたの契約にそむくことがありませんでした。
44:17 All this has come upon us; yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we dealt falsely in your covenant.
44:18 われらの心はたじろがず、またわれらの歩みはあなたの道を離れませんでした。
44:18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way;
44:19 それでもあなたは山犬の住む所でわれらを砕き、暗やみをもってわれらをおおわれました。
44:19 Though you have sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
44:20 われらがもしわれらの神の名を忘れ、ほかの神に手を伸べたことがあったならば、
44:20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
44:21 神はこれを見あらわされないでしょうか。神は心の秘密をも知っておられるからです。
44:21 Shall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heart.
44:22 ところがわれらはあなたのためにひねもす殺されて、ほふられる羊のようにみなされました。
44:22 Yea, for your sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
44:23 主よ、起きてください。なぜ眠っておられるのですか。目をさましてください。われらをとこしえに捨てないでください。
44:23 Awake, why sleep you, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
44:24 なぜあなたはみ顔を隠されるのですか。なぜわれらの悩みと、しえたげを／お忘れになるのですか。
44:24 Wherefore hide you your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
44:25 まことにわれらの魂はかがんで、ちりに伏し、われらのからだは土につきました。
44:25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaves unto the earth.
44:26 起きて、われらをお助けください。あなたのいつくしみのゆえに、われらをあがなってください。
44:26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for your mercies' sake.

45:1 わたしの心はうるわしい言葉であふれる。わたしは王についてよんだわたしの詩を語る。わたしの舌はすみやかに物書く人の筆のようだ。
45:1 My heart is composing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made concerning the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
45:2 あなたは人の子らにまさって麗しく、気品がそのくちびるに注がれている。このゆえに神はとこしえにあなたを祝福された。
45:2 You are fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into your lips: therefore God has blessed you for ever.
45:3 ますらおよ、光栄と威厳とをもって、つるぎを腰に帯びよ。
45:3 Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, with your glory and your majesty.
45:4 真理のため、また正義を守るために／威厳をもって、勝利を得て乗り進め。あなたの右の手はあなたに恐るべきわざを／教えるであろう。
45:4 And in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall teach you terrible things.
45:5 あなたの矢は鋭くて、王の敵の胸をつらぬき、もろもろの民はあなたのもとに倒れる。
45:5 Yours arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under you.
45:6 神から賜わったあなたの位は永遠にかぎりなく続き、あなたの王のつえは公平のつえである。
45:6 Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a right sceptre.
45:7 あなたは義を愛し、悪を憎む。このゆえに神、あなたの神は喜びの油を／あなたのともがらにまさって、あなたに注がれた。
45:7 You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
45:8 あなたの衣はみな没薬、芦薈、肉桂で、よいかおりを放っている。琴の音は象牙の殿から出て、あなたを喜ばせる。
45:8 All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made you glad.
45:9 あなたの愛する女たちのうちには王の娘たちがあり、王妃はオフルの金を飾って、あなたの右に立つ。
45:9 Kings' daughters were among your honourable women: upon your right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
45:10 娘よ、聞け、かえりみて耳を傾けよ。あなたの民と、あなたの父の家とを忘れよ。
45:10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline yours ear; forget also yours own people, and your father's house;
45:11 王はあなたのうるわしさを慕うであろう。彼はあなたの主であるから、彼を伏しおがめ。
45:11 So shall the king greatly desire your beauty: for he is your Lord; and worship you him.
45:12 ツロの民は贈り物をもちきたり、民のうちの富める者もあなたの好意を請い求める。
45:12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall implore your favour.
45:13 王の娘は殿のうちで栄えをきわめ、こがねを織り込んだ衣を着飾っている。
45:13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
45:14 彼女は縫い取りした衣を着て王のもとに導かれ、その供びとなるおとめらは／彼女に従ってその行列にある。
45:14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto you.
45:15 彼らは喜びと楽しみとをもって導かれ行き、王の宮殿にはいる。
45:15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
45:16 あなたの子らは父祖に代って立ち、あなたは彼らを全地に君とするであろう。
45:16 Instead of your fathers shall be your children, whom you may make princes in all the earth.
45:17 わたしはあなたの名をよろず代におぼえさせる。このゆえにもろもろの民は世々かぎりなく／あなたをほめたたえるであろう。
45:17 I will make your name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise you for ever and ever.

46:1 神はわれらの避け所また力である。悩める時のいと近き助けである。
46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
46:2 このゆえに、たとい地は変り、山は海の真中に移るとも、われらは恐れない。
46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
46:3 たといその水は鳴りとどろき、あわだつとも、そのさわぎによって山は震え動くとも、われらは恐れない。〔セラ
46:3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
46:4 一つの川がある。その流れは神の都を喜ばせ、いと高き者の聖なるすまいを喜ばせる。
46:4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
46:5 神がその中におられるので、都はゆるがない。神は朝はやく、これを助けられる。
46:5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
46:6 もろもろの民は騒ぎたち、もろもろの国は揺れ動く、神がその声を出されると地は溶ける。
46:6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

46:7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
46:8 来て、主のみわざを見よ、主は驚くべきことを地に行われた。
46:8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he has made in the earth.
46:9 主は地のはてまでも戦いをやめさせ、弓を折り、やりを断ち、戦車を火で焼かれる。
46:9 He makes wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in two; he burns the chariot in the fire.

46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

47:2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

47:3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

47:4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

47:5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.

47:7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing all of you praises with understanding.

47:8 God reigns over the heathen: God sits upon the throne of his holiness.

47:9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
48:1 主は大いなる神であって、われらの神の都、その聖なる山で、大いにほめたたえらるべき方である。
48:1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
48:2 シオンの山は北の端が高くて、うるわしく、全地の喜びであり、大いなる王の都である。
48:2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
48:3 そのもろもろの殿のうちに神はみずからを／高きやぐらとして現された。
48:3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
48:4 見よ、王らは相会して共に進んできたが、
48:4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
48:5 彼らは都を見るや驚き、あわてふためき、急ぎ逃げ去った。
48:5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
48:6 おののきは彼らに臨み、その苦しみは産みの苦しみをする女のようであった。
48:6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

48:7 You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

48:8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

48:9 We have thought of your loving kindness, O God, in the midst of your temple.
48:10 神よ、あなたの誉は、あなたのみ名のように、地のはてにまで及びます。あなたの右の手は勝利で満ちています。
48:10 According to your name, O God, so is your praise unto the ends of the earth: your right hand is full of righteousness.

48:11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your judgments.

48:13 Mark all of you well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that all of you may tell it to the generation following.

48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

49:3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

49:4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

49:6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
49:7 まことに人はだれも自分をあがなうことはできない。そのいのちの価を神に払うことはできない。
49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
49:8 とこしえに生きながらえて、墓を見ないために／そのいのちをあがなうには、あまりに価高くて、それを満足に払うことができないからである。
49:8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases for ever:)

49:9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
49:10 まことに賢い人も死に、愚かな者も、獣のような者も、ひとしく滅んで、その富を他人に残すことは人の見るところである。
49:10 For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
49:11 たとい彼らはその地を自分の名をもって呼んでも、墓こそ彼らのとこしえのすまい、世々彼らのすみかである。
49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
49:12 人は栄華のうちに長くとどまることはできない、滅びうせる獣にひとしい。
49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abides not: he is like the beasts that perish.
49:13 これぞ自分をたのむ愚かな者どもの成りゆき、自分の分け前を喜ぶ者どもの果である。〔セラ
49:13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
49:14 彼らは陰府に定められた羊のように／死が彼らを牧するであろう。彼らはまっすぐに墓に下り、そのかたちは消えうせ、陰府が彼らのすまいとなるであろう。
49:14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
49:15 しかし神はわたしを受けられるゆえ、わたしの魂を陰府の力からあがなわれる。〔セラ
49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
49:16 人が富を得るときも、その家の栄えが増し加わるときも、恐れてはならない。
49:16 Be not you afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
49:17 彼が死ぬときは何ひとつ携え行くことができず、その栄えも彼に従って下って行くことは／ないからである。
49:17 For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
49:18 たとい彼が生きながらえる間、自分を幸福と思っても、またみずから幸な時に、人々から称賛されても、
49:18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise you, when you do well to yourself.

49:19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

50:1 The mighty God, even the LORD, has spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

50:2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shined.
50:3 われらの神は来て、もだされない。み前には焼きつくす火があり、そのまわりには、はげしい暴風がある。
50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
50:4 神はその民をさばくために、上なる天および地に呼ばわれる、
50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
50:5 「いけにえをもってわたしと契約を結んだ／わが聖徒をわたしのもとに集めよ」と。
50:5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
50:6 天は神の義をあらわす、神はみずから、さばきぬしだからである。〔セラ
50:6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
50:7 「わが民よ、聞け、わたしは言う。イスラエルよ、わたしはあなたにむかってあかしをなす。わたしは神、あなたの神である。
50:7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, even your God.
50:8 わたしがあなたを責めるのは、あなたのいけにえのゆえではない。あなたの燔祭はいつもわたしの前にある。
50:8 I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
50:9 わたしはあなたの家から雄牛を取らない。またあなたのおりから雄やぎを取らない。
50:9 I will take no bullock out of your house, nor he goats out of your folds.
50:10 林のすべての獣はわたしのもの、丘の上の千々の家畜もわたしのものである。
50:10 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
50:11 わたしは空の鳥をことごとく知っている。野に動くすべてのものはわたしのものである。
50:11 I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

50:12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.
50:13 わたしは雄牛の肉を食べ、雄やぎの血を飲むだろうか。
50:13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
50:14 感謝のいけにえを神にささげよ。あなたの誓いをいと高き者に果せ。
50:14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay your vows unto the most High:
50:15 悩みの日にわたしを呼べ、わたしはあなたを助け、あなたはわたしをあがめるであろう」。
50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

50:16 But unto the wicked God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes, or that you should take my covenant in your mouth?

50:17 Seeing you hate instruction, and casts my words behind you.

50:18 When you saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers.

50:19 You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.

50:20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander yours own mother's son.

50:22 Now consider this, all of you that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

51:2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

51:5 Behold, I was formed in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

51:6 Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part you shall make me to know wisdom.

51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

51:18 Do good in your good pleasure unto Zion: build you the walls of Jerusalem.

51:19 Then shall you be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon yours altar.

52:2 The tongue devises evil; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

53:2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.

53:4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.

53:5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God has scattered the bones of him that camps against you: you have put them to shame, because God has despised them.

53:6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

55:4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
55:5 恐れとおののきがわたしに臨み、はなはだしい恐れがわたしをおおいました。
55:5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me.
55:6 わたしは言います、「どうか、はとのように翼をもちたいものだ。そうすればわたしは飛び去って安きを得るであろう。
55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
55:7 わたしは遠くのがれ去って、野に宿ろう。〔セラ
55:7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
55:8 わたしは急ぎ避難して、はやてとあらしをのがれよう」と。
55:8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
55:9 主よ、彼らのはかりごとを打ち破ってください。彼らの舌を混乱させてください。わたしは町のうちに暴力と争いとを見るからです。
55:9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
55:10 彼らは昼も夜も町の城壁の上を歩きめぐり、町のうちには害悪と悩みとがあります。
55:10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
55:11 また滅ぼす事が町のうちにあり、しえたげと欺きとはその市場を／離れることがありません。
55:11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
55:12 わたしをののしる者は敵ではありません。もしそうであるならば忍ぶことができます。わたしにむかって高ぶる者はあだではありません。もしそうであるならば身を隠して／彼を避けることができます。
55:12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
55:13 しかしそれはあなたです、わたしと同じ者、わたしの同僚、わたしの親しい友です。
55:13 But it was you, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
55:14 われらはたがいに楽しく語らい、つれだって神の宮に上りました。
55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
55:15 どうぞ、死を彼らに臨ませ、生きたままで陰府に下らせ、恐れをもって彼らを墓に去らせてください。
55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
55:16 しかしわたしが神に呼ばわれば、主はわたしを救われます。
55:16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
55:17 夕べに、あしたに、真昼にわたしが嘆きうめけば、主はわたしの声を聞かれます。
55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

55:18 He has delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

55:19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

55:20 He has put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he has broken his covenant.
55:21 その口は牛酪よりもなめらかだが、その心には戦いがある。その言葉は油よりもやわらかだが、それは抜いたつるぎである。
55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

55:22 Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

63:7 Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings will I rejoice.

64:1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
64:2 わたしを隠して、悪を行う者の／ひそかなはかりごとから免れさせ、不義を行う者のはかりごとから免れさせてください。
64:2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

64:3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

64:4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

64:5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privately; they say, Who shall see them?

64:6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
64:7 しかし神は矢をもって彼らを射られる。彼らはにわかに傷をうけるであろう。
64:7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
64:8 神は彼らの舌のゆえに彼らを滅ぼされる。彼らを見る者は皆そのこうべを振るであろう。
64:8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
64:9 その時すべての人は恐れ、神のみわざを宣べ伝え、そのなされた事を考えるであろう。
64:9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
64:10 正しい人は主にあって喜び、かつ主に寄り頼む。すべて心の直き者は誇ることができる。

65:2 O you that hear prayer, unto you shall all flesh come.

65:3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, you shall purge them away.

65:4 Blessed is the man whom you choose, and cause to approach unto you, that he may dwell in your courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, even of your holy temple.

65:5 By terrible things in righteousness will you answer us, O God of our salvation; who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are far off upon the sea:

65:6 Which by his strength sets fast the mountains; being girded with power:
65:7 あなたは海の響き、大波の響き、もろもろの民の騒ぎを静められる。
65:7 Which stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

65:8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at your tokens: you make the utmost limit of the morning and evening to rejoice.

66:7 He rules by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

66:8 O bless our God, all of you people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
66:9 神はわれらを生きながらえさせ、われらの足のすべるのをゆるされない。
66:9 Which holds our soul in life, and suffers not our feet to be moved.
66:10 神よ、あなたはわれらを試み、しろがねを練るように、われらを練られた。
66:10 For you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried.

66:11 You brought us into the net; you laid affliction upon our loins.

66:16 Come and hear, all you that fear God, and I will declare what he has done for my soul.

66:17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
66:18 もしわたしが心に不義をいだいていたならば、主はお聞きにならないであろう。
66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

68:6 God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

68:7 O God, when you went forth before your people, when you did march through the wilderness; Selah:
68:8 シナイの主なる神の前に、イスラエルの神なる神の前に、地は震い、天は雨を降らせました。
68:8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
68:9 神よ、あなたは豊かな雨を降らせて、疲れ衰えたあなたの嗣業の地を回復され、
68:9 You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby you did confirm yours inheritance, when it was weary.

68:10 Your congregation has dwelt therein: you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor.

68:16 Why leap all of you, all of you high hills? this is the hill which God desires to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
68:17 主は神のいくさ車幾千万をもって、シナイから聖所に来られた。
68:17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
68:18 あなたはとりこを率い、人々のうちから、またそむく者のうちから／贈り物をうけて、高い山に登られた。主なる神がそこに住まわれるためである。
68:18 You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
68:20 われらの神は救の神である。死からのがれ得るのは主なる神による。
68:20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.
68:21 神はその敵のこうべを打ち砕き、おのがとがの中に歩む者の／毛深い頭のいただきを打ち砕かれる。
68:21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goes on still in his trespasses.

68:22 The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:

68:31 Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.
68:32 地のもろもろの国よ、神にむかって歌え、主をほめうたえ。〔セラ
68:32 Sing unto God, all of you kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:
68:33 いにしえからの天の天に乗られる／主にむかってほめうたえ。見よ、主はみ声を出し、力あるみ声を出される。
68:33 To him that rides upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he does send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
68:34 力を神に帰せよ。その威光はイスラエルの上にあり、その力は雲の中にある。
68:34 Ascribe all of you strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

69:2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
69:3 わたしは叫びによって疲れ、わたしののどはかわき、わたしの目は神を待ちわびて衰えました。
69:3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
69:4 ゆえなく、わたしを憎む者は／わたしの頭の毛よりも多く、偽ってわたしの敵となり、わたしを滅ぼそうとする者は強いのです。わたしは盗まなかった物をも／償わなければならないのですか。
69:4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
69:5 神よ、あなたはわたしの愚かなことを／知っておられます。わたしのもろもろのとがは／あなたに隠れることはありません。
69:5 O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you.
69:6 万軍の神、主よ、あなたを待ち望む者が／わたしの事によって、はずかしめられることのないようにしてください。イスラエルの神よ、あなたを求める者が／わたしの事によって、恥を負わせられることのないようにしてください。
69:6 Let not them that wait on you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek you be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
69:7 わたしはあなたのためにそしりを負い、恥がわたしの顔をおおったのです。
69:7 Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face.
69:8 わたしはわが兄弟には、知らぬ者となり、わが母の子らには、のけ者となりました。
69:8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an foreigner unto my mother's children.
69:9 あなたの家を思う熱心がわたしを食いつくし、あなたをそしる者のそしりが／わたしに及んだからです。
69:9 For the zeal of yours house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen upon me.
69:10 わたしが断食をもってわたしの魂を悩ませば、かえってそれによってそしりをうけました。
69:10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
69:11 わたしが荒布を衣とすれば、かえって彼らのことわざとなりました。
69:11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

69:12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

69:13 But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.
69:14 あなたのまことの救により、わたしを泥の中に沈まぬよう助け出してください。わたしを憎む者から、また深い水からわたしを助け出してください。
69:14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
69:15 大水がわたしの上を流れ過ぎることなく、淵がわたしをのむことなく、穴がその口をわたしの上に閉じることのないように／してください。
69:15 Let not the flood of waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
69:16 主よ、あなたのいつくしみの深きにより、わたしにお答えください。あなたのあわれみの豊かなるにより、わたしを顧みてください。
69:16 Hear me, O LORD; for your loving kindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.

69:17 And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

70:2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.

70:3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.

71:19 Your righteousness also, O God, is very high, who have done great things: O God, who is like unto you!

71:20 You, which have showed me great and sore troubles, shall restore life in me again, and shall bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

72:1 Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son.

72:10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

72:11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

73:2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
73:3 これはわたしが、悪しき者の栄えるのを見て、その高ぶる者をねたんだからである。
73:3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

73:4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

73:5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

73:15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of your children.

73:16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all your works.

74:1 O God, why have you cast us off for ever? why does yours anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?

74:2 Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old; the rod of yours inheritance, which you have redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein you have dwelt.

74:3 Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary.

76:5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
76:6 ヤコブの神よ、あなたのとがめによって、乗り手と馬とは深い眠りに陥った。
76:6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
76:7 しかし、あなたこそは恐るべき方である。あなたが怒りを発せられるとき、だれがみ前に立つことができよう。
76:7 You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry?

76:8 You did cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

76:9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
76:10 まことに人の怒りはあなたをほめたたえる。怒りの余りをあなたは帯とされる。
76:10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: the remainder of wrath shall you restrain.
76:11 あなたがたの神、主に誓いを立てて、それを償え。その周囲のすべての者は／恐るべき主に贈り物をささげよ。
76:11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
76:12 主はもろもろの君たちのいのちを断たれる。主は地の王たちの恐るべき者である。
76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
